‘Wokelet piece of absolute trash’: Kunal Kamra abuses Twitter user after being criticized over statement on Munawar Faruqui

Self-proclaimed comedian Kunal Kamra on Sunday issued a statement which he claimed was his response to any journalists who reached out to him for a comment. The long drawn statement did not say anything much about anything and it was not clear precisely what Kunal Kamra was talking about.

In the statement, Kamra said that he felt that comedians are having to pay more and more for laughter. He also said that for artists to be “so calculative” is a slow death of art.

Left-liberals assumed that the statement was about Munawar Faruqui, whose comedy shows have been cancelled recently after a clip had gone viral earlier where he could be heard mocking the Godhra riots. Consequently, they were angry with Kamra for his statement which they believed to be wishy-washy.

They were angry because he had not taken the name of Munawar Faruqui even once.

Others were angry because Kunal Kamra did not speak of ‘systemic discrimination’ against Muslims in India. Like most things about liberalism in India, the term ‘systemic discrimination’ is, too, borrowed from the United States of America, where the use of the phrase ‘systemic racism’ has been normalised to describe discrimination against non-Whites.

Kamra was panned across the board for his statement.

One user who criticised Kamra was ‘Raj Against The Machine’. He urged the ‘comedian’ to “cut the philosophy” and “do something”.

Kunal Kamra sneaks into DMs to vent his frustration at random Twitter users

After Raj criticised Kamra, he messaged the Twitter user to abuse him in private. Kamra called Raj a “wokelet piece of absolute trash”. Kamra sent the user a poster of a show he and Munawar Faruqui were supposed to perform together.

Kamra texted him again later and asked him to “enjoy” his “2 minutes of clout”.

Munawar Faruqui had earlier hinted for the second time that he was leaving comedy after his Bengaluru show was cancelled. Ashoknagar police station in Bengaluru had asked the organisers to cancel the show in light of the cases registered against Faruqui in other states. The Police had asked for his shows to be cancelled fearing that it could cause trouble and disturb public peace.

‘Govt is ready for discussion but maintain the dignity of the house,’ PM Modi said ahead of winter session, watch video

On November 29, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a statement to the media before the winter session at the Parliament. In his statement, PM Modi said that the government is ready for the discussion and give answer to every query. However, the dignity of the House, the Speaker and the Chair has to be maintained.

PM Modi said, “The country is celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. People from across the country are organizing programs for the betterment of the country. Every citizen is trying best to fulfil the dreams of the freedom fighters. It is a good sign for the future of the country. We saw on the Constitution Day that the people of India took oath to work for a better future.” He added, “In connection to Amrit Mahotsav, we want, the country wants, and every citizen wants that this session and all the sessions of the parliament run smoothly.”

While talking about how the parliament session should be, PM said, “The Parliament should find ways for the progress of the nation. The ideas and efforts should be for the long-term benefits of the country. We should find new ways and give new ideas for the same. The efforts of the members of the Parliament should be rated on the basis of their contributions to the betterment of the country and not on the basis of their efforts to startle the session in the Parliament.”

‘The govt is ready for the discussion’

During his address, PM Modi said that the government is ready for the discussion. He said, “The government is ready for the discussion on every matter. We are ready for the open discussion. We are ready to give answers to every query. We want to have a peaceful and productive discussion in the Parliament Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.” He added, “We want there should be resistance towards the policies of the government to the extent it should be. However, it should be done while keeping the dignity of the house, the speaker and the chair in mind.”

‘Everyone should be vigilant during Covid time’

PM said that even though India was facing challenges during the second wave of Covid, the nation managed to complete 100 crore doses of the Covid vaccine, and now we are moving ahead towards 150 crore doses. “We must be vigilant towards the new variant of Covid-19. I would request every member of the Parliament to stay vigilant. You [reporters and media persons] should stay vigilant as well. The good health of the people of the nation is our top priority,” he said.

Free ration till March-end

PM Modi said that the government had extended the free ration scheme under Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Kalyan Yojna to ensure the poor and marginalized people of the country get food on their plates. He added that the government would spend around 2.6 lakh crore on the scheme, and it would benefit around 80 crore people.

The government has over 20 bills scheduled to be tabled during the winter session including a bill on cryptocurrency and a bill to repeal the three agriculture laws.

“In the name of Jesus…”: Nadiad based Christian group accused of religious conversion in Godhra after videos of ‘exorcism’ go viral

A case of suspected forced religious conversion has come to light from Godhra, Panchmahal in Gujarat. According to a source in the know of the things, a man belonging to Sindhi community and living in Bhuravav area of Godhra was not feeling too well and some months back he came in touch with some Christian priests from Nadiad. They had come over from Nadiad and after carrying out some ‘rituals’, the man started ‘feeling better’.

The videos of the rituals had gone viral on social media. Recently, it was believed that while they had not undergone religious conversion, they had carried out pre-conversion rituals.

One such video that has made it to the Internet is this where a man can be seen lying on the floor appearing to be struggling with breathing. People in background are chanting ‘Hallelujah’ while one man is ‘instructing’ an invisible force to ‘not make noise’ and ‘leave him’ in the ‘name of Jesus’ as ‘My Jesus has defeated ‘it’.’ The man then gets up again and vigorously shakes himself while the other man says he is rubbing Jesus’ blood on the shaking man. Everyone around them are chanting ‘Amen’.

In another video, the same man is now sitting on a chair and shaking vigorously before falling down on the floor and other man is again touching the shaking man and ‘instructing’ whatever it is to go back to Jesus in the name of Jesus. And then he concludes it with ‘Hallelujah’.

Another such video has come from the same event when another man is seen spitting in a huge plastic bowl when the same man ‘in the name of Jesus’, asks ‘it’ to come out of his body.

After the videos had gone viral, the neighbours were alert and keeping a tab on suspicious activities in the neighbourhood. Hence, when the same group of Christians came again from Nadiad, the neighbours got suspicious of superstitious activities taking place in the house and alerted the police. Police then took away the group of Christians and further investigation was carried out. However, no case was registered in this regard.

The owner of the house claimed that they had gathered for a birthday party. However, local Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader has alleged that one man Stivan Macwan is involved in forced religious conversion especially through social media. As reported by Nav Gujarat Samay, VHP leader Imesh Parikh had alleged that Christian missionaries had earlier been involved in forced religious conversion of tribals near Dahod road area. However, despite informing the authorities, no action was taken against them, he alleged.

A report by Vadpad Today, a local media house, read members of Sindhi community have submitted a memorandum to police where they say that in Bhuravav area, there is one society Shiv Shakti society. One Pratik Khimani is a resident there. Two years back he allegedly came in touch with ‘Save the Soul Restoration Revival’ in Nadiad whose head is one Stephen Macwan. Macwan is allegedly involved in carrying out missionary work and propagating religious conversion.

In September 2021, Macwan had come to Khimani’s home in Godhra where he conducted various rituals of initiating someone into Christianity. The photographs and videos of the rituals had gone viral on social media which is when prominent members of Sindhi community became aware of the same.

The members went to Khimani’s house to explain to him and discourage him from leaving the Hindu fold. However, Khimani and his family were quite keen on conversion. The report states that members of Sindhi community eventually got to know that the Christian missionary organisation had provided financial help to Khimani. Further, Khimani’s brother Nilesh used to stay unwell and Macwan and other members of the Christian group asked him to pray to Jesus and read the Bible to get rid of his troubles.

The members of Sindhi community in the memorandum said that this way, Macwan was luring members of their community to Christianity and this was hurting their religious sentiments. They appealed to the police to take action against such forced religious conversion.

Meanwhile, according to a source in the know of the things said that while the religious conversion had not taken place, they took the members of Sindhi community to nearby temple and a Puja was conducted and they were assured of community support in difficult times so that they do not have to leave their religion. The members of the community assured support to the family to keep them into the Hindu fold.

Farm Laws repealed in Lok Sabha through voice vote amid ruckus by opposition: Details

0

The farm laws which sparked a year-long protests from Arhtiyas in Punjab and farmers in Haryana have been repealed in the Lok Sabha.

The farm laws were repealed through a voice vote in the Lok Sabha amidst ruckus by opposition parties.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced that the three laws will be repealed by the Government by the end of November. He had appealed to the protesters to go back home, an appeal that has fallen on deaf ears.

Meanwhile, while the laws were being repealed, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi were protesting outside the Parliament, demanding the repeal of the laws.

It is pertinent to mention that the laws allowed farmers to sell their products outside APMC act (most states make it compulsory for the farmers to sell at APMC mandis). It also allowed farmers to directly have a contract with corporate houses. The farm laws did not do away with APMC, and if someone was not willing to trust markets outside the current system, they were free to stick to the ongoing system. It did not do away with MSPs either.

Winter Session: Congress demands repeal of farm laws after PM Modi announced repealing of farm laws

The Congress party leaves no opportunity to play petty politics. Though the Modi government has already announced the repealing of the three farm laws, that were actually formulated for the benefit of the farmers, the grand old party leaders were seen outside the parliament ahead of the Winter Session, protesting, demanding the repealing of the farm laws. The protest was led by none other than Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi.

ANI Tweeted, “Congress Interim President Sonia Gandhi leads party’s protest demanding repeal of Centre’s three farm laws.” As seen in the picture shared by the news agency the Congress leaders are holding a huge poster with “We demand repeal of three black farm laws”. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are seen leading the crowd.

Rahul Gandhi, who has been missing from public view for weeks, has finally appeared. It was reported that he was in London.

The Congress members have reportedly gathered outside the Parliament that will reconvene today for the winter session during which as many as 26 bills are expected to be tabled, including the bill to repeal the three farm laws. The Narendra Modi-led government will bring a bill for the repeal of the agriculture laws today.

PM Modi announces the repeal of farm laws

It may be noted that PM Narendra Modi himself had addressed the nation on the 19th of November when he announced that the government had decided to repeal the 3 farm laws as the government had failed to convince a section of farmers. PM Modi had added that by the end of this month, the Modi government would complete the process of repealing the three farm laws. As assured, the centre is all set to table the bill to repeal farm laws in Lok Sabha today.

It is perplexing, however, that members of the Congress party huddled outside the Lok Sabha today, demanding something that the government has already announced.

It is pertinent to mention that the farm laws were set of three laws that allowed farmers to sell their products outside APMC act (most states make it compulsory for the farmers to sell at APMC mandis). It also allowed farmers to directly have a contract with corporate houses.

The farm laws did not do away with APMC, and if someone was not willing to trust markets outside the current system, they were free to stick to the ongoing system. It did not do away with MSPs either.

Congress and it’s double standards

Nonetheless, the Congress party, from the very start, has been opposing the farm laws. Throughout the party leaders have shared some blatant and outright lies against the new farm laws to berate the BJP government at the centre. They have been telling the world that the farm laws are “black laws” or “kaale kanoon,” and the government must take them back.

In fact, the Gandhi scion has gone to extreme lengths to instigate the farmers against the same. On July 26, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi drove a tractor to the Parliament to protest against the new farm laws. Gandhi had posted his photograph in which he was driving the tractor. He wrote, “If you force to sell the land then the tractor will run in Parliament. We will grow the crops of truth! Withdraw the anti-agriculture laws.”

However, all along its quest to berate the Modi government, the Congress party’s hypocrisy and double standards over the farm laws have been laid exposed. OpIndia has reported extensively how the Congress manifesto from 2019 General Assembly elections reveals a diametrically opposite stand of the party. The Congress manifesto for 2019 had promised the exact same reforms that the party chose to protest against.

‘Bharat allows all faiths to flourish and co-exist, partition in the name of religion will never be allowed again’: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat

On November 25, Mohan Bhagwat, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), said that the forces trying to create another partition in India over religious lines will not be allowed to succeed. The Sangh chief was addressing the attendees of the launch of the book ‘Vibhajankalin Bharat Ke Sakshi’ written by Krishna Nand Sagar in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. He said that this is India of 2021, not 1947. The partition has happened once, it will not be allowed to happen again.

Bhagwat asserted that just because some people have changed their method of worship, it does not mean they have become separated from the civilisational and cultural bonds that unite the people of India, “Your way of worship has changed. It does not matter to us because we have the tradition of ‘Jaki rahi bhawna jaisi, prabhu murat dekhi tin jaisi’ here. If you want to come to the ancestors’ house, then come. We are ready for it. If you don’t feel like that, keep worshipping as per your faith. We will protect our way of worship. But separation would not work. Motherland is our strength. This is not a property that you are asking for. It can neither be rented nor sold. It is our motherland. You have to live with the same spirit.”

Speaking on the partition, the RSS chief stated that the partition of the country on religious grounds was a mistake. He added that the situation has changed a lot. The partition was poorly executed, there was a lot of bloodshed and enmity, but the same will not be repeated again.

Bhagwat further added, “A planned conspiracy was hatched. We left everything to settle. We changed the colours of our national flag because they would feel bad. We accepted the demand of dividing the country; otherwise, they would have felt bad. Those who believe in ‘We took Pakistan with a smile, we will take India with a fight’, I want to tell them that I travel across the country. Let me tell you, this is 2021, not 1947. Our society took a big hit, bled and cried with pain. But now we will not forget this. Hence, the division of India is no longer possible. If anyone tries to do it, they will be broken into pieces.”

While talking about the partition, Bhagwat said, “The partition of the country is an indestructible pain because humanity was sacrificed before the partition. We accepted it so that the rivers of blood would not flow. The amount of blood that was flowed was much more than that would have flowed if we had not accepted the partition. Neither India is happy, nor the people who had demanded partition in the name of Islam at that time are happy.”

He added, “What is the origin of the mindset of partition? It is in the thought that ‘we cannot live with you.’ Why? ‘Because we are different, so we cannot live together. We have differences. There is no unity.’ The nature of the name Bharat says if you are different, you do not need to be separate. You can keep your differences with you. I have my uniqueness, and I respect that. I respect your uniqueness. What is the point of the quarrel? Let’s live together.”

While targeting the Islamists and British invaders, he said, “The reason behind partition was linked more to the invasions by the Islamists and Britishers compared to the then-present situation. There were many invasions before Islam. They looted and went away or settled and mixed up with the society. Those who had settled here to rule India, where did they go, no one knows. Guru Nanak Dev Ji had warned about the invasion of Islam. He had clearly said that this was an attack on Hindus and Hindustan. It was not an attack on just the way of worship. The formless is also worshipped in India, but that was not spared either as it was not about the way of worship but instinct. The instinct is that ‘we are right, everyone else is wrong, those who want to live, have to live the way we live’.

The Sangh chief further said, “Whatever mistakes we made, we are not going to repeat them. There will never be any compromise regarding the integrity of the country. If we have to fight, we will fight. If we have to die, we will die. There have been so many sacrifices in the name of religion. Those who sacrificed their lives knew if they could not be sure if the world would be safe if they sacrificed their lives. But they did not think about it. This is the truth. This is our Bharatvarsh. This is our Hindu nation. We are Hindus. We will not leave.”

Referring to the slogans to divide the country, he said, “Even after the fragmented independence of August 15, 1947, the struggle has not ended. There is no need to tell you that because there are slogans raised in Bharat, ‘Bharat tere tukde honge’.”

5,000 teachers refuse COVID vaccines citing religious beliefs in Muslim dominated north Kerala districts of Kasargod, Malappuram

At least 5,000 teachers in North Kerala districts of Kasargod and Malappuram have stayed away from COVID vaccines citing religious beliefs. Malappuram and Kasargod are Muslim dominated districts in Kerala where Malappuram has over 70% Muslim residents.

He said that there is standing instructions that unvaccinated teachers will not be allowed to take classes. He said these teachers will be given some more time to get themselves vaccinated before any action is taken against them.

According to officials, most of these unvaccinated teachers have not even attended offline classes. As of now, the state education department does not have the data of teachers who have not been inoculated. Most teachers have cited religious beliefs as the reason to not get vaccinated.

Vaccine hesitancy amongst Muslims in Kerala

According to COWIN dashboard, as of today, Kerala has administered a total of 4,26,88,538 doses of which about 1,70,36,736 have been administered both the doses. Recent surveys have showed that significant chunks of the Muslim population do not trust vaccines and vaccination rates for the community was far lesser than that for Hindus. In fact, a January 2020 report states how nearly 5 lakh children had missed polio vaccines in Kerala while Muslim majority Malappuram saw only 54% vaccination. It is pertinent to note that Malappuram in Kerala has one of the highest concentration of Muslim population and according to Census data nearly 70% of residents of the district are Muslims.

Prayagraj: Dalit girl, 3 family members murdered, The Wire columnist blames Thakurs when accused is Dalit

On November 27, so-called journalist Prashant Kanojia spread fake news about the death of four people belonging to the Dalit (Pasi) community in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. He claimed that the four people were killed by men from the upper caste (Thakur) community.

Prayagraj Police, however, arrested one Pawan Kumar Saroj in the case, who is also a Dalit. The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Shweta (changed name), 45-year-old Meenu, 50-year-old Phoolchand and 10-year-old Shiv. However, the police later clarified that the girl was born in 1996 and hence she was not a minor. Subsequently, the POCSO sections were removed.

Kanojia blamed Kanha and Ashok Thakur for the murder

Kanojia shared an image of the four dead bodies wrapped with family members around them and said, “Four people of Pasi (Dalit) community murdered in Uttar Pradesh. The killers are Kanha Thakur and Ashok Thakur. Kanha was roaming freely in Prayagraj even after being restrained from entering the city (tadipaar). The family of the victim have been trying to get the case registered against the accused since 2018. As the accused is Thakur, the Police has become a mute spectator.”

Press release by Prayagraj Police about the incident

As per a press release published on Prayagraj Police’s official handle, the incident took place on November 25, 2021, in village Mohanganj under Gorhi Police Station, Phaphamau, district Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. During the investigation, the Police checked the WhatsApp chats of the deceased Shweta (changed name).

They came to know about one Pawan Kumar Saroj. During interrogation, Pawan said he was in “one-sided love” with the minor girl and had been following Shweta for many days. However, she did not pay attention to him. Angered by her refusal to reciprocate his feelings, he attacked and killed the girl and her family members.

Police recovered a shirt with bloodstains from his possession that has been sent to forensic lab. Pawan was arrested by the Police. Other accused would be arrested after further investigating the call details. Pawan has been booked under Sections 147, 148, 149, 302, and 376 D of the Indian Penal Code, Sections 3 and 4 of the POCSO Act and section 3(2) of the SC/ST Act. According to a report in Hindi Daily Amar Ujala, a neighbour found the bodies after he noticed that the door of their house was open in the morning.

In a video byte, ADG Zone Prayagraj, Prem Prakash, said, “A 23-year-old man Pawan Saroj has been arrested in the case of the murder of four people in Phaphamua village. He belongs to the same caste as the victim. He followed the girl for many days, but the girl did not agree to his advances. Based on the last conversation they had and circumstantial evidence, Pawan has been arrested. He is not cooperating in the investigation. However, it is clear that he had murdered the four people with the help of the other accused. He has told some names but keeps changing them. We are further investigating the case to find the other accused.”

Further investigation would be based on the call records and DNA evidence. He added, “When Police checked the mobile of the deceased, they found some messages. When Pawan was arrested based on the messages, he first denied any involvement. He denied sending any messages to the girl. However, when the Police showed him the messages and recovered his mobile phone, the Police found the messages on his phone as well. Her number was saved on his mobile by the name of ‘Gauri Mam’. As the girl was minor, Sections under POCSO Act have been included.”

He further added that during the investigation, the Police found that the deceased was raped as well. “We have found evidence of rape. Based on medical opinion, she was raped by one person. Her mother was also killed, but there was no evidence that she was raped too.” Prakash said the accused had struggle marks on his body. The Police also recovered a blood-stained shirt and other evidence from the possession of the accused that have been sent to the forensic lab.

The administration has promised Rs. 16.5 lakh compensation and protection for the rest of the family. The family has also demanded a gun license and piece of land as compensation. District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Khatri said that the administration would look into the demands and fulfil the genuine ones.

OpIndia’s conversation with the ADG office

OpIndia reached out to ADG Zone, Prayagraj, for more information about the case. ADG’s office told us that a complaint was filed by the victim’s uncle against the Thakurs as there was an ongoing altercation between the families. They said, “As the family of the deceased filed complaint against the Thakurs, they were detained and questioned. However, during further investigation, the Police found Pawan’s involvement in the murder. The case is still under investigation, and information will be revealed as the case moves forward.” They added that the case would be solved at the earliest.

Update: Prayagraj Police has said that the girl was born in 1996 and hence not a minor. Subsequently, the POCSO sections are being reduced.

A video of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and NCP MP Supriya Sule dancing together at a function has gone viral on social media. In the video that is being shared on social media, the MPs from Maharashtra were seen dancing a party to the popular party song Lamborghini.

This video has gone viral as the netizens are amused to see two political leaders dancing to party music. At the request of Sanjay Raut, Supriya Sule danced with him. His wife Varsha Raut was also present on the occasion.

Supriya Sule also posted a photograph from the pre-wedding ceremony on Instagram, where she posed with the Raut family.

Instagram disables political satire account of Wokeflix for 30 days for allegedly violating its Community Guidelines

Social Media platform Instagram has disabled the political satire account of Wokeflix for 30 days. Wokeflix’s Twitter account that claims to be the vaccine for Woke’ism or Woke culture has tweeted about the step taken by Instagram.

Instagram also removed a post by Wokeflix, saying it contained hate speech or symbols.

In one tweet it said, “When was the last time a left wing, anti govt, anti Hindu, anti Modi, #Hinduphobic account was banned @InstagramComms ? The vile abuse and hatred being spread by the above is at all time high and you have a problem with this… #wokeflix #wokeflixandchill #WokeFlixReloaded”.

Last month, Instagram had removed access to link sticker for Wokeflix’s account for allegedly violating its guidelines. A message sent by Instagram had said that Wokeflix will not have access to link sticker because they had shared content that violates Instagram’s Community Guidelines.

Wokeflix however received widespread support on social media for the restoration of its disabled Instagram account.

MTV presenter Suraj Balakrishnan said, “A satire page getting suspended for making people laugh? This is ridiculous. India cannot become another country where a loud woke minority decides what is punishment & what constitutes a ban. Let free speech prevail. Hope this decision is overturned ASAP. @InstagramComms @Meta”

Abhinav Prakash said, “In west wokes are running the corporates these days. We must not allow the same in Indian corporate sector. Minority but loud wokes can’t decide for people. Opposition & punishment for wokeness by any company should be swift and decisive to save our freedom & democratic rights.”

BJP spokesperson Shehzad said, “I am perplexed about this seemingly unfair, arbitrary and unilateral decision that seems aimed at silencing a point of view that is inconvenient to the “pseudo liberal” ecosystem”

BJYM National secretary Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has said that he has never seen any abusive post from Wokeflix’s Instagram account and asked the Meta (formerly Facebook) owned social media platform to review its decision of disabling the account. He said, “never saw any abusive post on wokeflix account. @instagram should review again.”
