Begusarai: Mohammad Chotu enters house of a Hindu woman by jumping over a Mosque wall, attacks her with knife for resisting molestation

0

In a Muslim dominated area of Bihar’s Begusarai district, a youth named Mohammad Chotu forcefully entered the house of a 30-year-old Hindu woman and tried to physically assault her. After she tried to put up resistance against the accused, the latter allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp knife, leaving her injured. The incident occurred in Baro Rampur Tola village falling under the Gadhara station area in Begusarai, Bihar.

According to reports, Mohammad Chotu broke into the woman’s house by jumping over the walls of a Mosque which is adjacent to her house. Thereafter, when the accused attempted to physically assault her, the woman resisted and raised an alarm to gather the villagers. The villagers, in turn, apprehended Mohammad Chotu and handed him over to the police. They rushed the injured victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. The accused was later released by the Begusarai police.

Accusing the police of siding with the accused, the woman is now demanding justice for herself.

Begusarai Hindu victim narrates her ordeal

Narrating her ordeal, Gunjan Devi said that on the night of December 21 (Monday) she was sleeping in her house with her three children when suddenly Mohammad Chotu broke into her house and grabbed her in her sleep. He then forcefully started taking off her sari, recolleted Gunjan Devi, who said that she was so devastated that for a second that she became blank and didn’t know what to do.

Gunjan Devi immediately started screaming to collect her neighbours. Her children, who got up from their sleep because of the noise, opened the door of the house to let the neighbours in. Seeing people approach Mohammad Chotu tried to flee but by then Gunjan said she caught hold of his legs tightly, not allowing him to escape. The accused then took out a knife and attacked the victim several times. Despite being gravely injured, Gunjan did not let go of Chotu until the villagers gathered.

Gunjan Devi said that before going to the hospital, she went to the police station and filed a complaint against the accused. The police also assured her that they would investigate the case and lodge an FIR against Chotu. However, when she went to the Police Station the next day, their attitude towards her had changed completely. She said that Chotu was in police custody for two days after which he released. When Gunjan Devi questioned the police she was rebuked and asked to leave.

Concerned about her and her children’s well being, Gujan Devi, worried how would she stay alone in her house. She said that her children were small and her also husband did not live with them as he worked in Uttar Pradesh. She feared that her live was now at risk.

“How will Hindus ever be able to live in the area”, lamented area’s ward councillor and a BJP member

To know more about the incident, Opindia got in touch with the area’s ward councillor and a BJP member, Krishnanand. He confirmed to us that Gunja Devi was assaulted by Mohammad Chotu. He said that the victim lived alone in her house with three small children as her husband worked for the railways. The BJP worker revealed that since Gunjan Devi’s house was adjacent to a Mosque she was an easy target for such hoodlums.

Begusarai police not cooperating, says BJP leader

Lauding Gunjan Devi for her courage, Krishnanad lambasted at the police for their laxity in handling the case. He said that they did not conduct any enquiry and left the accused on a PR bond within two days. The accused had beaten the woman so much that her mouth, hands, legs were all swollen, recollected the ward councillor.

Krishnanand said that the area was a Muslim dominated area. He revealed that prior to this, a similar incident had taken place with Gunjan Devi when another youth had jumped the wall of the Mosque and broken into her house. He said that Gunjan had then complained to the Mosque authorities, who did not take her complaint seriously and settled the matter by temporarily barricading the terrace of the Mosque.

Calling the incident extremely unfortunate, the BJP leader opined that if some concrete action is not taken against these hoodlums, they would get a very pass and make it impossible for Hindus to live in the area. “How will Hindus ever be able to live in the area”, lamented Krishnanand?

Expressing his displeasure over the police apathy, Krishnananda said that if the police already had plans to release the accused there was no point of creating a farce of presenting him in the court.

Opindia also tried to contact the police to know their version of the story, but they could not be contacted.

It is pertinent to note that few media reports have mentioned that three youths had entered the victim’s house. However, when we spoke to Gunjan Devi she only named Mohammad Chotu.

Police arrests Haroon who fooled people by pretending to be a Hindu priest named Pandit Rahul Shastri

0

Delhi police yesterday arrested a person name Haroon alias Shahji Bangali for duping people pretending to be a Hindu priest named Pandit Rahul Shastri. Haroon, a resident of Zakir Nagar in Meerut, had registered himself on Google and Truecaller app as Miyaji Shah Bangali under his fake name. He had reportedly duped a number of people.

Haroon got Rs 85,000 deposited in his account by a woman

According to reports, there are several cases of murder and riots filed against Haroon. His son named Arif was also involved in the frauds he committed. Haroon was nabbed by the police after a woman filed a complaint against him. The woman, who is a resident of Keshavpuram in Delhi, said that she had received a phone call from an unknown number and the person on the other side introduced himself as Pandit Rahul Shastri. He told her that he could fix all the domestic issues that she was facing by performing a Yajna. He even induced the women to transfer an amount of Rs 85,000 to his account. However, the woman grew suspicious after Haroon asked her to deposit Rs 55 thousand more in his account.

He and his son arrested by the police

A case was registered against Haroon on the woman’s complaint. A team of police led by SHO Sanjay Rawat started the investigation in the case. The police traced Haroon through his phone location and arrested him from Meerut. His son Arif was also arrested by the police. The police are investigating how many people Haroon has fooled.

Muslim dressed as Sadhus

In October this year, a video had emerged showing three Muslim men hiding their identities by dressing in saffron clothes pretending to be Hindu sadhus. Their true identities were revealed when a man confronted them. When he asked their true identities, they told their names as Suddu, Diwan and Ali Hussain. All the three confessed that they were Muslims. One of them said to the man asking about their real identities that they did not commit a crime or steal anything. This might be true but if such people hiding their identities behind saffron robes commit any crimes the Hindu sadhus are defamed.

Amitabh Bachchan’s post on ‘Chai’ stirs up a storm, actor accused of plagiarism

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been dragged into a controversy on social media for sharing a poem without giving credits to the person who wrote it. The avid social media user took to his Facebook and Twitter accounts on December 24 (Thursday) to share a few lines of a poem in Hindi along with a picture of himself. However, he missed out on sharing the name of the poet.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Tweet

The controversy, however, erupted after the woman who reportedly wrote that poem replied to the megastar’s posts. One Tisha Aggarwal, took to Facebook and Twitter to claim that the poem Big B had shared was actually written by her. “Sir, these lines are mine. At least give credit”, reacted Tisha Agarwal.

Tisha Agarwal post on Facebook

Within minutes she retweeted Amitabh Bachchan’s post captioning it: “When Amitabh Bachchan copies your post and does not even give credit, should you be sad or overjoyed?”

Tisha Agarwal’s post

She requested him to atleast give her the due credit. She said she would have been very happy had the megastar given her credit for her work.

Tisha Agarwal’s tweet

Tisha Agarwal’s posts did not go unnoticed. Many people took to social media to question the cine icon.

One Facebook user Pradeep Shukla spoke on how one Youtuber named Gyan Prakash Mishra had once received a legal notice from Amitabh Bachchan for sharing his father Harvansh Rai Bachchan’s poem on his Youtube channel. Though Mishra recited the poem after giving due credit to Harvansh Rai Bachchan, still Amitabh was so furious that he sued him. Mishra wrote emails, sent the megastar messages asking for apology, but Amitabh was not ready to let go, said Pradeep Shukla.

Schooling the actor for his hypocrisy, one user reminded Big B how in 2017, he had sued AAP leader Kumar Vishwas for copyright infringement of Harivansh Rai Bachchan’s poem and today he did the same thing.

For the unversed, in 2017, Amitabh Bachchan has sent a legal notice to AAP leader Kumar Vishwas for using a poem by the megastar’s late father, the poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan in a video, and asked him to give an account of the revenue generated from it. Bachchan had then said that the video, in which Vishwas was seen singing the poem, was a “copyright infringement” and should be removed from the popular video-sharing site YouTube, within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, some called Amitabh Bachchan “arrogant” for using someone else’s work without giving due credit.

Others too slammed the actor accusing him of plagiarism.

OpIndia got in touch with Tisha Agarwal, who claims to be the original writer of the poem shared by Amitabh Bachchan. Tisha said that though plagiarism has become rampant on social media servers with most people using someone else’s tweets, comments, and blogs by showing them as own, at least celebrities that too someone like megastar Amitabh Bachchan should act responsibly and should not indulge in such flippant acts.

Tisha said: “Last night, I saw Amitabh ji’s post and I understood that these lines are mine. Then I also checked on my Facebook wall, which convinced me that this is my poem. I also searched on Google and I realised that this poem had been published by many other bloggers, and some people had also published it in their own voices on YouTube.”

Tisha said that when she shared this post on her Facebook wall, some people informed her about the 2017 incident when Senior Bachchan had got so irked that he sued AAP leader Kumar Vishwas for using his father’s poem. She said that many have advised her to do the same. However, she does not want to take any decision in haste and would only decide after discussing the issue with her family.

‘Nuns pimped out boys to Christian priests at sex parties, clergy paid them for allowing to rape children,’ victim narrates ordeal in Germany

Christian nuns working at a children’s home in Germany is accused of pimping out boys to Christian priests, politicians and businessmen who would rape the children at sex parties.

According to the reports, a Social Welfare Court in Darmstadt, Germany awarded a 63-year-old person compensation after he detailed how nuns dragged him to be abused by priests and powerful men at parties, starting at age five. The victim said that the nuns were paid by these powerful priests for allowing to indulge in sexual intercourse with young boys.

The victim, who remains anonymous, said he was raped around 1,000 times during his time at the home in the 1960s and 70s, alongside other boys.

The Bishop of Speyer, Karl-Heinz Wiesemann also publicly named Bishop Rudolf Motzenbäcker, who died in 1998, as the accused who involved in such heinous abuse. The bishop said three further victims have since come forward.

Nuns acted as ‘pimp’, supplied young boys to clergy at ‘sex parties’

The victim was abused at the age of five when he joined the home run by the Order of the Sisters of the Divine Saviour in the German city of Speyer in March 1963. The victim said he was ‘literally dragged’ by the nuns to Motzenbacker’s apartment to be sexually abused. The Christian priests would beat him when he resisted.

The victim, who was an altar boy at the Speyer Cathedral, said he was assigned the priest as a confessor. The victim said visitors to the clergy would abuse him at ‘sex parties’’. The nuns would act like ‘pimps’ and supply youngsters aged between seven and 14 to clergymen, local politicians and businessmen.

“There was a room where the nuns served drinks and food to the men and in the other corner the children were raped,” the victim said to the court in his testimony. He added that the nuns earned money as the men present donated generously.

The victim said before the court that the nuns were key in aiding the abuse of the children at the home, even claiming the sisters themselves would sexually abuse underage boys. The children’s home was shut in 2000.

‘Brutal torture if disobeyed orders of church, was raped multiple times,’ says victim

According to the victim, if any of these boys disobeyed the orders of the church, they would be beaten with sticks or have their heads smashed against the wall. He said he was raped by three priests at the same time on one occasion.

“Sometimes I would run back to the home in blood-smeared clothes, the blood ran down my legs. Before I left in September 1972, I had been sexually abused about a thousand times,” the former altar boy narrated his ordeal.

The Catholic Church paid the victim with 15,000 euros in compensation and 10,000 euros for therapy costs alongside a victim’s pension. “For victims of abuse, taking legal action is associated with considerable psychological stress”, said Judge Andrea Herrmann from the Darmstadt Social Court.

However, the victim asked what is the use of the money after suffering such post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. He asked, “My marriage is broken. My bones, liver and kidneys are too”.

Since 2010, the Catholic Church has faced a number of cases of sexual abuse. An internal investigation into abuse in 2018 revealed abuse involving 1,670 clerics and 3,677 victims between 1946 and 2014. There has been a dangerous trend of repeated cases of rape and other abusive incidents at Churches across the world. Unfortunately, India is not immune to this plague either. Christian priest and churches, like most cases worldwide, have been targeting the poor, destitute for their crimes but the cases go unnoticed.

China’s information warfare: How Beijing uses censorship, disinformation and propaganda to control and influence domestic narrative

China has long sought to shape the narrative and influence public opinion by putting a tight rein over the flow of information domestically, a trend that has accelerated in the recent times, especially following the coronavirus pandemic whose origins were linked to the central Chinese city of Wuhan.

The Chinese Communist Party has studiously kept a firm grip on traditional media. With the advent of new-age media and amidst a proliferation of social media websites that have served to democratise information sharing that made it difficult to curb the untrammelled dissemination of news and information, the CCP’s resolve to control what its subjects access and discuss has only grown stronger.

A prospect of a free and unbiased media has been an anathema to the Chinese Communist Party(CCP) which views it as an early indicator of the subversion of its authority. To avert this potential threat on its hegemony, the CCP has institutionalised ‘Censhorship’—strict media controls using monitoring systems, surveillance and firewalls, closing down publications and websites that publish dissenting content against the Communist regime, jailing dissident journalists, bloggers, whistleblowers and activists who expose the Chinese state’s treachery.

Where its intimidations do not work, it employs cajolement and censorship to limit access to the information. It uses its power and authority to provide plum postings to journalists, activists and other dissidents to turn them into allies and please them into acquiescence. On occasions, it uses the whip of censorship to block the information which it deems subversive and against the interests of the Communist Party.

The emergence of social media platforms has definitely increased the problems facing the Chinese Communist Party. But, it has also provided an opportunity to the CCP to reinforce its control of information flow, both for its domestic as well as global users. One of the tools that the CCP has added to its quiver is—’Disinformation’. When thwarting free information is counterproductive and risky, the CCP employs ‘Disinformation’ to run its ‘Propaganda’ and undermine the facts and reality.

Of late, the Chinese state and its diplomats have been vigorously involved in peddling Propaganda to weave an alternative reality. With the world raising its fingers towards China for bequeathing the coronavirus that has affected 78 million and killed 1.72 million in its wake, the Chinese diplomats have been remarkably pugnacious, aggressively fending off the criticism but at the same time playing the victim and accusing others of indulging in racism.

Censorship, Disinformation and Propaganda—Three pillars of China’s strategy against fighting truth

Censorship, Propaganda and Disinformation are the pillars of the Chinese Communist Party’s strategy to control the narrative domestically, as well as globally. China has one of the world’s most restrictive media environments and it relies heavily on these three pillars to add ballast to the growing dominance of the CCP and Xi Jinping over the Chinese people.

‘The Great Firewall’ is the fulcrum of the CCP’s Censorship, disinformation and propaganda campaign. It plays a crucial role in helping CCP monitor news and information that the domestic Chinese population consume. The fact that websites like Twitter, Google, Facebook and other such platforms are banned in China signifies the extent of the control exerted by Beijing over what is accessed by the Chinese population.

The hermetic media environment and bans on foreign websites have only served to bolster the proliferation and consumption of fabricated or false stories peddled by the different propaganda arms of the Chinese Communist Party. These concocted stories are purveyed in local Chinese language, making its dissemination easier and sweeping.

Though the Freedom of Speech and Press are enshrined in the Chinese constitution, the lack of transparency over its media regulations grants enough powers to the authority to clampdown on news stories by citing that they pose a threat to state secrets and sovereignty of the country. The laws concerning what constitutes state secrets remain vague, providing enough latitude to Communist authorities to take coercive action against those they deem ill-disposed towards the regime.

China’s iron-fist censorship policy to suppress the dissenting voices

This was most notably evident during the initial phase of the coronavirus pandemic that had its roots in Wuhan. Chinese ophthalmologist Li Wenliang had tried to warn his friends and associates about a strange SARS-like virus affecting the people of Wuhan. He used the ubiquitous Chinese social media app WeChat to express his concerns with his friends. However, the Chinese Communist Party, with its tools of surveillance detected the messages and chastised the Doctor for spreading “rumours”. It swiftly moved to remove any references made to coronavirus on the app.

As early as January 1, China had censored keywords related to coronavirus and criticism of Chinese Premier Xi Jinping. The report probing the censorship in China also found that as the outbreak swelled, WeChat, owned by Chinese firm Tencent, blocked more words to block Chinese people from knowing facts about the raging COVID-19 pandemic.

In fact, the authoritarian control over the information regulation is so sweeping in China that barely days after thousands were reported to have contracted the coronavirus, China censored all inconvenient information related to the disease and its adverse fallout within the country. It stopped reporting the number of coronavirus cases altogether.

However, reports from some journalists and activists revealed that the number of coronavirus cases in China was significantly larger than what the CCP was claiming. But, CCP not only threatened and intimidated the whistle-blowers, but it also pulled down all the reports that challenged CCP’s utopian view of the COVID-19 outbreak.

After CCP pulled brakes on the adverse information surrounding the surging coronavirus crisis domestically, it presided over the ‘Disinformation’ and ‘Propaganda’ campaign to reinforce its credibility among the Chinese population. The Wuhan coronavirus, by now, was rampaging the countries across the globe, leaving thousands weak and infirm in its wake. The CCP used this opportunity to flood its people with information on how the western countries had failed in handling the crisis and how Chinese regime, under the leadership of Xi, had been remarkably successful in blunting the pandemic.

When the pandemic hit the United States, it elicited sharp reactions from the political class and the US citizens, who consistently referred to the virus as “Chinese virus“, a name derived from the location where it was first found. However, the Chinese diplomats, known for their “Wolf Warrior Diplomacy” stridently opposed the virus being branded as Chinese and accused the United States of endorsing racism against the Chinese people.

China’s “Three Warfare Doctrine” to control and influence the media narrative

China then proceeded on to what American journalist Joshua Philipp described as the “Three Warfares Doctrine’ which included psychological warfare, media warfare and legal warfare, to restrict the flow of information. As the virus emerging out of the central Chinese city of Wuhan was called “Chinese Virus”, the CCP swung into action and activated its psychological warfare to twist the news by claiming it to be a racist reference discriminating against the Chinese people.

The domestic Chinese population were fed with the news that Americans had been engaging in racism against the Chinese people by referring to the virus as Chinese. This disinformation and propaganda campaign was aimed to incite nationalist feelings amongst the Chinese and enhancing the reputation of the CCP by portraying them as a regime fighting against the alleged racism meted out to the fellow Chinese outside China.

The media warfare, according to Joshua, is the ability to control and manipulate outlets of information, not just news outlets, but social media, online platforms, the power of speaking freely. Anything that would enable people to communicate to a larger audience that could galvanise trouble for the CCP would be a target of the media warfare.

Elaborating over the media warfare waged by the Chinese Communist Party, Joshua cites the document accessed by him which said that the propaganda arm of the CCP had hired 1,600 operatives to sweep the internet and clean potentially incriminating information against China on social media platforms. He also added that the CCP hired the services of 50 cent Army which go on the comments section of websites like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and other Chinese social media websites and firehose them with lies and disinformation.

CCP’s misinformation campaign against the United States and source of coronavirus

A case in point is the disinformation campaign surrounding the origins of the coronavirus attributed to the US military. A senior Chinese spokesperson publicly called the US military as the source of the coronavirus. Soon after the Chinese spokesman ascribed the virus to the US military, all the arms of the media warfare coalesced to amplify the disinformation that the US military was responsible for unleashing the pandemic.

Thousands of activists, journalists, social media users and bots started attributing the virus to the United States and within no time Chinese social media platforms were replete with articles and posts that said that the virus had originated from America. Many in China started believing that the virus had indeed come from the United States.

Ever since Trump came into power, he has been calling out Beijing’s preeminently unfair trade practices, its initial reticence and opacity about the coronavirus outbreak, abominable human rights violations of its Uighur Muslim minority and deplorable repression of free media and foreign journalists.

Beijing remained unfazed by the mounting criticism directed towards it by the United States. Instead, its truculent diplomats tried to exploit the fault-lines within the American society to tackle the US condemnation. As racial reckoning gripped the United States in the aftermath of George Floyd’s unfortunate death, touching off widespread ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement, Chinese diplomats and CCP leaders used this opportunity to inundate domestic media with a narrative that reinforced its authoritarian model of governance as against the vagaries of chaotic democracies.

Chinese social media replete with posts that describe US Secretary of State as a Hunanese

Trump’s trusted aide and the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been at the forefront of the United States’ wrangling with China. Pompeo has pulled no punches in attacking Beijing, imposing punitive sanctions against Chinese authorities for it what it called Chinese authoritarian rulers’ draconian suppression of the Chinese people’s freedoms of expression, religion or belief, association, and the right to peaceful assembly.

On the other hand, China has responded with equal belligerence against Pompeo’s actions. The CCP has not only criticised the American Secretary of State but it has also commissioned a massive disinformation campaign against him to discredit his accusations against Chinese authorities in the eyes of the Chinese people. State-run organisations such as WeChat, Weibo and other big organisations help CCP in its nefarious designs of flooding the media with disinformation and conspiracy theories.

A piece of particularly misleading information that was doing the rounds on the Chinese social media was about Mike Pompeo being a Hunanese, his father being a renegade bandit and a landlord which stemmed his hatred for China. Of course, these assertions were all fake. But, that did not stop people from consuming and circulating the deceiving reports on social media. Such propaganda and conspiracy theories have become the norm, and not the exception of the Chinese social media.

China fuels disinformation about Australia after the latter demands inquiry into origins of coronavirus outbreak

China has also stepped-up efforts to fend off criticism it faced following its botched up initial response to the coronavirus pandemic. When Australia tried to spearhead the demand to bring China to reckoning over its lack of transparency over the coronavirus crisis, Beijing turned to disinformation to attack Australia. Chinese diplomats shared fake images of an Australian soldier holding a knife to an Afghan child’s neck. The aim, here again, was to tarnish the moral authority of Australia in questioning China’s human rights violations and galvanising an anti-Australian sentiment.

Chinese modus-operandi

Recently, experts who came together in a webinar organised by Usanas Foundation on 9th December revealed the dangerous methods of propaganda used by China to influence elections globally, spy on other nations using their educational institutions and other methods, weaponise Chinese apps and essentially, how their espionage activities have intensified in the past few years.

Grove Human Rights Scholar Teng Biao, who was a speaker at the Webinar, revealed the modus operandi of China in trying to influence elections in other countries. “Chinese government meddles in elections of many countries like Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, United States, etc. During Taiwan elections, Chinese government launches a disinformation campaign through its social media and uses it to defame the Party that is anti-China or hostile to it (such as the Democratic Progressive Party).

This pattern of censoring hostile information, flooding a tightly controlled media environment with contrived narratives, running propaganda campaigns against inimical adversaries is ossified as an instrument of China’s media policy. Every time the CCP encounters an unfavourable piece of information against itself, it first moves to block its people from accessing it, its diplomats go all guns blazing against it, and its media arms converge to spread disinformation and launch a propaganda campaign to sow confusion and weave a fiction undermining the information.

Karnataka: Soyub Kotwal arrested for forcing Hindu girl to convert into Islam, sent vulgar messages on Instagram

0

A Muslim youth has been arrested in Savanur, Karnataka for harassing a Hindu girl on the social media and coercing her to convert to Islam.

According to the reports, Soyub Kotwal, who is an employee in the Mangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd, was arrested by Dakshina Kannada district police on Tuesday for not only harassing the girl on social media platform Instagram but also repeatedly forcing her to accept gifts and convert to Islam.

The police officials registered the FIR against the accused under sections of POCSO act after the family of the girl lodged a complaint in the Bellare police station. The complainant has alleged that Soyub was repeatedly sending ‘request’ on Instagram to the girl studying in PUC (Pre-University College) hailing from Periyadka village near Savanoor in Dakshina Kannada.

Sent vulgar messages, proposed her

The accused had also sent her unsolicited, vulgar messages and proposed her. Furthermore, Soyub proceeded to coerce the girl to accept gifts from him and also began to force her to convert her religion. The accused has been arrested now.

Following the attempt to trap Hindu girls, the Hindu Jagarana Vedike unit said that such instances of Love Jihad, where Hindu women are trapped and forced to convert, are becoming rampant. The Vedike also urged Hindu women to be cautious in light of these circumstances.

Later, the members of the Hindu Jagarana Vedike visited the house of the victim and spoke to her and members of her family.

“Sooar ki charbi haram hai”: Islamic organisations issue fatwa against coronavirus vaccines from China

Sunni Muslim scholars from Raza Academy, Mumbai, and All India Sunni Jamiyyathul Ulama have issued a fatwa against the Chinese vaccine that contains pork gelatin. Saeed Noorie, Raza Academy’s Secretary-General, said in a statement that the Indian government should not order a Chinese vaccine that allegedly contains pork gelatin. He said, “For any vaccine which has been ordered or made in India, the government should show us the list of content so that we can make announcements regarding the use of the vaccine.”

The Raza Academy scholars claim that the pork gelatin component of the vaccine makes it “haram” for the Muslim community. Some reports have claimed that the Chinese vaccine contains the said component that has stirred controversy in the Muslim community worldwide.

BJP lashed out at the Muslim body

The objection against the vaccine raised by Muslim scholars is facing a backlash. BJP leader and national spokesperson Sambit Patra has asked in a tweet if someone can explain to him what is Halal Vaccine.

Patra, who has served as Medical Officer at Hindu Rao Hospital before shifting his career to politics, said, “While the world over even the Islamic Nations have accepted the COVID Vaccine ..it’s disgustingly how some in India are trying to spread canards & create a situation of Panic even before the vaccinations start!!”

Several Muslim countries and scholars are okay with the vaccine, including UAE

Amidst the rumour of pork being used to make the Chinese vaccine, several Muslim scholars from India and abroad have okayed the use of vaccine irrespective of the ingredients. Notably, Sheikh Abdallah bin Bayyah, who heads the UAE Fatwa Council, the highest Islamic authority in the country, said that vaccine would serve the greater cause of protecting the human body and it will not be subject to Islam’s ban on pork-derived products.

According to Associated Press, spokesperson for Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca have said that pork products are not part of their COVID-19 vaccines. However, reports suggest that pork-derived gelatin was used in the pharmaceutical companies’ vaccine as a stabilizer. It helps in keeping the vaccine safe and effective during transport and storage.

From being in a ‘hurry’ to double farmer income to missing Sonia Gandhi’s NAC: Bizarre excuses Communists give to put farm laws on hold

“Put the farm laws on hold, uphold farmers’s rights” screamed the Op-Ed headline in The Hindu today. In her defense, the author gives multiple convincing examples on why Prime Minister Narendra Modi must “put the farm laws on hold”.

Foremost amongst them is that “Having set a target of doubling of farmers’ income by 2022, the Modi government seems to be in a hurry.” Oh boy, what a crime it is to be in a hurry! Since they have anyway suffered for 70 years, what exactly is the hurry of Prime Minister Modi now to make their lives better? This crass urgency to make the lives of the farmers of our country has to be immediately curbed. This is definitely not what is expected from the Modi government. He must take it slow, read intellectual stuff published in esteemed publications such as The Hindu and let the farmers’ struggle as they have for 70 years!

Two full paragraphs are dedicated to the section pompously titled – “It’s about corporatisation”. The essence of the two paragraphs is that “without adequately skilling, training and empowering the small and marginal farmers to become competitive…. the government bought in the laws in the ordinance route”.

What does “without adequate skilling, training and empowering” mean? The author doesn’t explain. It is left to our imagination. For example, Soil Health cards are provided to crores of farmers across the country to know what crop is best for their soil. Would that count as skilling them to be competitive? The author doesn’t bother to get into these mundane specifics because she must focus on words such as “empowerment”!  You may also get a doubt as why the author is arguing about “ordinance route” in a section titled “It’s about corporatisation”, but the fault lies with you to expect a coherent argument from the communists!

We are also told that “the farmers are now faced with new amendments to Electricity Act which propose to fully privatise distribution of power, a crucial input in farm irrigation”. You would read this and definitely think that this is indeed a bad move being contemplated. Except that the new amendments don’t stipulate anything of this kind. You may please read the proposed amendments here and come to your own conclusion too. The communists are adept at this kind of fearmongering without having to actually fear about being called out for their lies.

The author asks us “Should there be efforts to lower input costs for farmers?” You would think – great question! Only to come to know that Prime Minister Modi already talked about lowering input costs way back in the year 2016! Soil Health cards, Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Neem-coated Urea etc have all led to a reduction of input costs and an increase in the output. But since communists are typically not familiar with happenings on the ground, we can’t really blame them for asking questions for which answers already exists.

The author tells us that the government has “fixed an ambitious target of 10,000 Farmer-Producer organisations by 2023-24…. but only 881 FPOs have registered so far”. Yes, this is very convincing to “put the farm laws on hold” because the target set for the year 2023 may not be met! And just in case you are not convinced, we are now told Swadeshi Jagran Manch, an affiliate of BJP, also wants changes to MSP laws so therefore we must “put the farm laws on hold”!

On MSP, the author tells us that even today “the payment of MSP is not mandatory inside the mandis”. Basically, the farmer today has the choice to either sell at MSP to the government or sell it in the mandi. The farmer will continue to have this choice but will also have more options to whom to sell the produce to. The farmer is no more bound to the politically controlled mandis in many states. The Prime Minister has guaranteed that MSP will stay. But the communists continue to spread lies about how MSP is being taken away and the farmer will stand to lose!

However, it is the conclusion of the article that takes the cake. The entire communist ecosystem is missing the glory days of the National Advisory Council that was headed by Sonia Gandhi. “Whatever be the criticism, the NAC during the previous UPA regime played a significant role…”. It doesn’t matter to the author that Sonia Gandhi’s party has been in favour of these amendments during those glory days of the NAC. While we understand their angst of missing out the various benefits of the NAC regime, the communists must realise that the people have rejected that regime not once, but twice!

The Prime Minister has clearly stated that these laws have not been enacted overnight but are a culmination of nearly 20 years of arguments and debates! The communists new found argument about “consensus” is amusing because we are a country of 130 crore people – a consensus is impossible! The political nature of these protests is evident from the fact that only farmers from Punjab are heading the protests. Nowhere else in the country do we have these protests. Perhaps time for the communists to reflect why this is the case!

Delhi Police raids office of Supreme Court lawyer Mehmood Pracha accused of forging affidavit and tutoring riot victims to lie

0

A special cell of Delhi Police today conducted searches at the office of Supreme Court Advocate Mehmood Pracha in relation to the Delhi riots case. The search was done after obtaining a court warrant.

Journalist Raj Shekhar tweeted today that the court had earlier ordered an FIR to be filed against Pracha who is accused of forging an affidavit and tutoring the Delhi riot victims to give false statements.

According to journalist Aditya Menon, the police is looking for incriminating documents and metadata of the outbox of the official email id of Pracha’s law firm. Pracha is handling a number of cases relating to the anti-Hindu Delhi riots.

According to the search warrant, the lawyer has been booked under section 182, 193, 420, 468, 471, 472, 473, 120B of the IPC. It notes that incriminating data comprising false complaint and metadata of outbox of email account which was used to send incriminating documents are essential to the investigation being conducted by the Special Cell of Delhi police. The court authorised the police to conduct the search during the day to find such evidence, and ordered it to be video recorded.

An FIR was filed against him for inciting communal hatred

In July this year, an FIR was filed against Pracha along with Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad after the two announced in a press conference that they would be setting up a camp in Lucknow to teach Muslims and Dalits about the ‘right to self-defence’ and how to apply for a firearm licence. However, despite the FIR, Pracha was seen holding a camp inside a Lucknow Mosque where he was training Muslims about how to fill our licences and acquire firearms. He had also talked about resuming the anti-CAA protests in the month of August this year.

India born Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias accused of sexual misconduct after his death

India born Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias, who passed away due to cancer in May this year, had allegedly indulged in sexual misconduct. A law firm conducting an investigation into the allegations of sexual misconduct emerged after Zacharias’ death.

Zacharias was born in Chennai in 1946. He founded Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) in 1984. He used to lecture common people and college students and had established a reputation for defending Christian beliefs.

After Zacharias’ death, RZIM was informed about the allegations of sexual misconduct against him. RZIM had entrusted a law firm, Miller & Martin, to conduct an investigation into the allegations. Yesterday RZIM issued a preliminary update on the investigation being conducted by the law firm and said that the allegations appear to be true. “Sadly, the interim investigation update indicates this assessment of Ravi’s behaviour to be true-that he did indeed engage in sexual misconduct”, said the RZIM.

RZIM added that the misconduct was deeply troubling and wholly inconsistent with how Zacharias presented himself both publicly and privately to people for over four decades of his association with the ministry. The investigation is expected to be concluded by January or February next year.

Zacharias reportedly sexually abused several women. According to reports, the law firm conducting the investigation told that many victims spoke to them candidly and with great detail confirming the allegations levelled by massage therapists who worked in two Atlanta spas that were partially owned by Zacharias. RZIM had initially denied the allegations against Zacharias and had released a statement saying that the family and the teammates of Ravi Zacharias did not believe the allegations.

Past record

Zacharias was involved in a matter of sexual misconduct in 2017 wherein he was accused of sexting by a Canadian woman. The woman had reportedly claimed that he had asked for her nude pictures. Zacharias had filed a case against her and had said that the pictures sent by her were not demanded by him. He later made a settlement with her and signed a non-disclosure agreement with her. He is also accused of falsifying academic credentials.
