Exclusive – Church ‘World Vision’ got billions from USAID, sent crores to India for 70 years: Conversion, links to Jihadis, Naxals, Harsh Mander and action by Modi govt

The Donald Trump administration has cracked down on the controversial United States Agency for International Development (USAID). It has sent senior officials on leave, fired contractors and, most importantly, imposed a sweeping freeze on foreign assistance. Elon Musk, tasked to head DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), has dubbed USAID a โ€˜criminal organisationโ€™. โ€œTime for it to die,โ€ he said in a tweet on Sunday (2nd February). As a result, the USAID website and its X account were taken down.

The USAID has long been regarded, at least unofficially, as a regime change operator of the USA. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was set up in the early 1960s to administer humanitarian aid programmes on behalf of the US government – however, behind the lofty punch words, lies a murky world of regime change operations, clandestine funding and undermining of sovereign nations.

One of the sovereign nations that USAID took special interest in, is India. While millions of dollars flowed directly into India, there are several projects and NGOs, funded by USAID, that work “internationally”, including in India, and work to undermine the interests of India at large and Hindus, specifically. For example, the Atlantic Council, funded by the US Deep State and specifically by USAID, attempted to use journalists and ‘fact-checkers’ and launched a massive campaign to censor private messages on Whatsapp and other platforms to dent the support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. One of the major donors to the Atlantic Council and this specific initiative was George Soros as well – the billionaire who had floated a $1 Billion fund to counter nationalist leaders like PM Modi and Donald Trump.

The web of the deep state is a rather fascinating spider’s web with several layers and linkages. For example, there is credible evidence to suggest that the US Deep State including USAID has substantial influence within the Indian National Congress with Sam Pitroda, Rahul Gandhi’s prime mentor and Congress’ overseas chairman, being squarely in bed with them.

It therefore, suffices to say that over the years, USAID managed significant budgets to drive its initiatives, which included toppling governments, establishing favourable regimes, creating hostile environments for political leaders left-liberals dislike, and more. Interestingly, a large chunk of US taxpayersโ€™ money was used for these activities. In the 2023 fiscal year alone, the agency oversaw over $40 billion in appropriations, making up more than a third of the funds allocated to the Department of State, Foreign Operations, and related programs.

With Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s DOGE biting USAID, several hitherto unknown interference layers are being unravelled. OpIndia’s detailed and ongoing investigation into USAID can be explored here.

One of the hitherto unexplored layers of foreign interference in India is that of the clandestine effort to convert the indigenous people of Bharat – the Hindus – specifically to Christianity. As this investigation will show, USAID contributes substantially towards the effort.

World Vision Inc. and USAID – the money trail

In 2020, OpIndia touched upon the activity of an NGO called “World Vision Inc.”. In June 2020, NDTV partnered with this NGO to supposedly establish a “hunger-free India”. In May 2020, NDTV had also solicited donations in partnership with World Vision. The program was supposed to help children suffering from hunger amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a list published by Forbes, World Vision was one of the top Christian NGO beneficiaries of USAID funds.

Between 2013 and 2022, World Vision received over $1.2 billion from USAID.

A Congressional Research Service report (CRS report) also testified to the quantum of funds that USAID gave to World Vision.

According to Data Republic, World Vision INC got over $2 Billion with a high contribution of US taxpayer money.

TIME Magazine reported how Christian organisations, like World Vision, were responding to the USAID freeze announced by the Donald Trump administration. The magazine writes, “Evangelical and other Christian charities have not been spared these cuts. Among the organizations that lost funding are such Christian behemoths as World Vision, International Justice Mission, Samaritan’s Purse, and Catholic Relief Services, which at $476 million, was the largest USAID recipient in 2024. Because of the vagueness of the language around which programs would still be funded, some groups pulled back their spending, just in case. “World Vision is responding to the executive order that pauses U.S. foreign assistance fundingโ€”except emergency food assistanceโ€”for the next 90 days, while programs are reviewed for alignment with the current administrationโ€™s foreign policy,” said the international relief organization in a statement to TIME”.

Another publication, Christianity Today, quoted a USAID official who used to work with World Vision. The publication says, “Most of USAIDโ€™s budget goes to grants for specific development projects, including at Samaritanโ€™s Purse, World Vision, World Relief, Catholic Relief Services, and many other faith-based groups. It supports local Christian health clinics in Malawi and groups providing orphan care”.

It further quoted the official. โ€œIt is exceptionally painful to watch all this,โ€ said Kent Hill, a former top official at USAID who also worked at World Vision and in Christian higher education as the president of Eastern Nazarene College. If USAID has specific problems, shutting the whole agency down instead of addressing the problems is a โ€œtremendous overreactionโ€ and โ€œinhumane,โ€ he said.

World Vision internationally boasts of being present in nearly 100 countries with at least 34,000 people working for them. One of the countries where they are present – is India.

World Vision India presents itself as a Christian humanitarian organisation that focuses on the well-being of children, their nutrition, poverty upliftment etc – the usual tropes.

Given that World Vision Inc. is one of the top recipients of USAID grants and has received over a billion dollars, it is safe to say that World Vision India is also funded by USAID.

On the World Vision website (the page of the parent organisation directly funded by USAID), an interesting project called “Pragati”. On the website, it is listed that Pragati was a joint venture between World Vision and FHI 360.

Is World Vision a ‘secular’ organisation working towards humanitarian causes – What they claim

On the face of it, World Vision claims that it does not indulge in proselytisation (conversion) and does not let faith come in the way of who it partners with and/or the children it selects for its humanitarian work. In the FAQ section of the World Vision website (the parent organisation), the NGO claims that one does not have to be a Christian to receive aid from the NGO. Further, the NGO claims that it does not indulge in proselytisation activity.

World Vision India also claims that while it is indeed a Christian organisation, it is only “motivated by the love of God in Jesus Christ” and does not exploit the vulnerabilities of the poor to convert them to Christianity.

Therefore, it is clear that World Vision attempts to claim that the NGO does not use the vulnerabilities of Hindus to convert them to Christianity.

While World Vision makes such tall claims, the truth is, possibly, far from it.

USAID funded World Vision – Predatory Proselytisation masked as humanitarian work

One of the primary ways in which Christian missionaries proselytise is to exploit the vulnerabilities of the poor and marginalised. The Hinduphobia Tracker, an NGO which tracks religiously motivated hate crimes against Hindus, defines ways in which Hindus are converted. Proselytisation by Inducement is defined as, “Predatory Proselytisation is not just limited to threat, harassment, force and violence, but it also has contours of stealth. In several cases, the Hindu victim is exploited to convert, with non-Hindus taking advantage of their poverty. In such cases, the Hindu victim who is suffering financially is offered monetary benefits, including lucrative offers for jobs, health treatment etc, to induce the victim into changing his/her religion. In such cases, the religious identity of the victim and the aim to disenfranchise him from his faith form the heart of the crime. Also, taking advantage of and exploiting an individualโ€™s economic vulnerabilities is widely acknowledged as exploitation, forms of which are often penalised by law. Such cases therefore are considered religiously motivated hate crimes since the victimโ€™s religious identity forms the very heart of the crime itself”.

There are several markers that World Vision indulges in proselytisation despite declarations to the contrary.

The mission statement on the World Vision website indicates the proselytising nature of the NGO.

Mission statement on wvi.org

World Vision states in its mission statement that it is an “international partnership of Christians whose mission is to follow Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ”. Further in the statement, it says that its work involves working with the “poor and oppressed” to “promote human transformation, seek justice and bear witness to the good news of the Kingdon of God”.

One of its mission statements is to “encourage people to respond to the Gospel”.

Despite WVI’s declarations that it does not indulge in proselytisation, the very fact that its mission statement explicitly states that it “encourages people to respond to the Gospel” makes it amply clear that evangelism forms a core part of WVI’s work with the “poor and oppressed”.

Interestingly, the Mission Statement page quoted by the HuffPost article has been blocked by WVI.

The URL, however, gives away that it was a page dedicated to “Churches”, and therefore, it can be assumed that it was a mission statement specifically for Churches.

This clandestine blocking of pages to cover its tracks is a usual practice by World Vision.

Beyond the country-specific websites, there seem to be 2 websites of World Vision – one is wvi.org and the other is worldvision.org. While wvi.org is accessible, access to worldvision.org has been specifically blocked for users in India.

If one looks at Worldvision.org, the website whose access has been blocked in India by the NGO, the faith-based activity of the organisation becomes far more apparent.

While worldvision.org has an entire section for partnership with Churches, wvi.org has no such section.

The ‘Church’ section on worldvision.org, at the very face of it, makes it clear that proselytisation is a core function of the NGO.

On the homepage of the “Church” partnership section of the website, the NGO clearly states that it “aspires to mobilise the Church outside its four walls and advance the Kingdon of God”. Advancing the Kingdon of God would only mean that the World Vision aims to proselytise and convert the vulnerable to Christianity beyond the four walls of the Church.

In wvi.org, on the other hand, there is a section on ‘faith-based partners’ in which, several evangelical organisations are listed as partners.

All of these faith-based organisations indulge in widespread proselytisation of indigenous people, by exploiting vulnerabilities – even in India.

That World Vision indulges in rampant proselytisation is evidenced also by a 2010 report by journalist S. K. Shashikumar.

In his report 15 years ago, Shashikumar documented the conversion work of World Vision in India.

According to him, World Vision New Zealandโ€™s report (4 September 2002) reported on the funding of ADP in Dahod, Gujarat. Under the head, โ€œspiritual developmentโ€ the report stated:

โ€œHeld a vacation Bible school for 150 children from different villages. The children participated in games, Bible quizzes, drama and other activities. Organised a one-day spiritual retreat for 40 young people and a childrenโ€™s Christmas party. Each of Dahodโ€™s 45 villages chose five needy children to attend the party.โ€ In Dumaria, Banka district, eastern Bihar, โ€œthe ADP supports local churches by running leadership-training courses for pastors and church leaders.โ€

Further, the report stated:

In the Gajapati ADP, situated in Gumma Block of Orissaโ€™s Gajapati district, a World Vision report admits that โ€œCanadian missionaries have worked in the area for just over 50 years and today 85-90 per cent of the community is Christian. However, local church leaders had little understanding of the importance of their role in community development. ADP staff build relationships with these leaders to improve church cooperation and participation in development initiatives.โ€ Here World Vision organised two training camps for local church leaders in holistic development.

In Mayurbhanj, again in Orissa, World Vision regularly organises spiritual development programmes as part of its ADP package. The World Vision report says: โ€œOpposition to Christian workers and organisations flares up occasionally in this area, generally from those with vested interests in tribal people remaining illiterate and powerless. World Vision supports local churches by organising leadership courses for pastors and church leaders.โ€

In India, World Vision is active in Bhil tribal areas and openly admits its evangelical intentions: โ€œThe Bhil people worship ancestral spirits but also celebrate all the Hindu festivals. Their superstitions about evil spirits make them suspicious of change, which hinders community development. ADP staff live among the Bhil people they work with, gaining the villagersโ€™ trust and showing their Christian love for the people by their actions and commitment.โ€

World Vision Advocacy – an arm of US govt to meet foreign policy goals

Iain Buchanan, author of โ€œArmies of God: Study in Militant Christianityโ€, claims that such missionary organisations are employed by the US government to pursue their foreign policy objectives.

In a 2018 interview with DNA, he said, โ€œโ€ฆthere is no doubt at all that US strategy makes deliberate (and somewhat cynical) use of Christian agencies in pursuit of foreign policy โ€” and that the distinction between the religious and the secular is deliberately blurred in the process. There are over 600 US-based evangelical groups, some as big as large corporations, and between them they constitute a vast and highly organised network of global influence, purposefully targeting non-Christians, and connecting and subverting every sector of life in the process.โ€

What Iain Buchanan claimed in 2018 seems to be true, given what we now know of how USAID functions, the billions it gave to World Vision, the proselytisation work of World Vision even in countries like India and the regime change operations of USAID and the US dept of state.

Notably, World Vision regularly indulges in lobbying work as well. According to its latest IRS filing, the ‘Church’ spend upwards of $180,000 for lobbying during elections and is in touch with government officials, legislators etc.

In tune with these revelations, the role and function of “World Vision Advocacy” becomes crucial to analyse.

World Vision Advocacy itself claims that it aims to influence the US government’s foreign assistance policy.

Further, they also claim that their advocacy is driven by the Christian faith.

If World Vision Advocacy claims to lobby with the US government to influence their policy on foreign funding and claims that it is exclusively driven by the Christian faith, it is safe to conclude that their advocacy revolves around Christianity not just in the US but even outside of the US. This, coupled with the fact that it gets billions from USAID which is specifically disbursed to Christian Churches and organisations and also, the fact that it is classified as a Church by the IRS, makes it amply clear that the NGO is not a humanitarian organisation but an extension of the US deep state tailored to meet its foreign policy goals.

World Evangelical Alliance – a World Vision trusted partner

On its website. World Vision proclaims that it partners with ‘faith-based’ organisations in their humanitarian causes.

One of those partners is the “World Evangelical Alliance”.

The “desire” statement of WEA itself makes it apparent that its goal is theological in nature and is to establish Christianity in every nation. The statement of WEA says, “A healthy Church for every people. The shalom of God for every nation”.

The WEA mission statement itself makes it clear that their aim is spreading the gospel to the world and establishing a Christian “kingdom”.

WEA is governed by an “International Council” that boasts of having representatives of each region. Its website says, “The International Council (IC) is the governance board of the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA). It consists of one representative for each region and a selection of members-at-large that complement the diversity of gender, age and skills. IC members are elected by the representatives of regional and national Evangelical Alliances at WEA General Assemblies, which generally take place at least once every six years”.

In 2017, a gruesome murder of a 4-year-old student took place on the premises of Ryan International School of Gurugram. The CBI had apprehended a class 11 boy for the crime. Post the murder, a letter b a former student of the school was penned, detailing how there was no freedom of thought in the school and how it functioned on dictatorial tactics. One of the aspects of the letter detailed how the school forced children to follow Christianity.

The letter, reported by Zee News, read:

“The complaint here is not so much that Ryan promotes (forces) Christianity on its students, it is HOW they go about doing it. For example, every school has boards outside classrooms where students are encouraged to showcase their creativity. They usually get together and decorate it, presenting interesting topics of discussion (e.g. global warming, politics, solar system etc.). Our school also had them, until one fine day all the boards were replaced with wooden boards with Bible verses on them. Yes, every one of them. While I would love to read Bible verses, any educationist would affirm that one does not create receptivity in the child to learn if you take something he/she likes and force them to read religious texts instead. And yes, that goes for any religion.

In another incident, Saraswati idol in the music room also magically disappeared one fine day. I would have thought it was a miracle had โ€˜sa re ga ma paโ€™ and Bhajans didn’t follow suit. No one would talk about it, because no one was allowed to talk about it. Also, speaking of music, the one thing that spreads cheers in all age groups, forcing students to โ€˜joyfullyโ€™ sing hymns in 40 degrees of weather at morning assembly at the cost of some students actually fainting is not going to promote love for music in children. Actually, in defence of the school, it is not opposed to other forms of music. For example, our โ€˜piousโ€™ school recently had Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif promoting Jagga Jasoos with Ryan Pinto in Ryan VK recently. Young children joined in the chorus โ€˜dil ullu ka pattha haiโ€™ as part of the promotions for the movie.

I realize that religion is indeed a very sensitive topic, and am therefore compelled to add this. Please be assured that I have a great respect for all religions, I studied in another minority institution, where the nuns always encouraged and never forced us to be part of any/all prayers or celebrations. I have the highest regard for the selfless work we saw the sisters engage in the field of education. But blatant disregard to the religious sensitivities in explicit and implicit manners can create resentment in a child, ironically in a place that is especially meant to teach an appreciation of diversity and culture“.

Apart from forcing children to adhere to Christianity, the Pintos have also been accused of siphoning off money and misappropriation of funds.

Coming back to the core values of WEA, Thomas Schirrmacher, who has been the CEO and Secretary General since 2021 has interesting beliefs about the function of WEA and its role in conversions.

Thomas Schirrmacher discussed the new WEA brochure with Pope Francis when visiting the Pope when he fulfilled a decade in office. ยฉ WEA

An article in Christianity Today details how Schirrmacher believes that the freedom of religion includes the freedom to convert people to Christianity.

Further, Schirrmacher says that the end goal of WEA is “not necessarily to promote world peace, but to peace the way for Christian witness in a world of difference”.

In 2021, keeping in tune with this mission, the WEA signed an agreement with one of the largest Muslim organisations in the world. The Muslim organisation accepted that the WEA would try to convert Muslims.

A report in Christianity Today reads, “The worldโ€™s largest Muslim organization accepts that Christians will try to convert its members. A new partnership with evangelicals seeks to ensure this does not lead to conflict. โ€œEvangelicals very much aspire to proselytism, and so does Islam. So naturally there will be competition,โ€ said NU secretary general Yahya Cholil Staquf. โ€œBut we need to have this competition conducted in a peaceful and harmonious environment.โ€

This agreement in itself is a testament that proselytisation is indeed one of the core functions of WEA and also of the World Vision, even though these organisations like to hide behind the veil of humanitarian work.

In 2008, WEA admitted that it proselytises and converts people to Christianity. โ€œWe are also working on guidelines in the area of evangelization and proselytization because we are under deep attack”, the then head of WEA had said.

WEA’s “Mission Commission” rather plainly states that their aim is Christian conversions. On its website, it states its aim as, “Our primary concern is to advance Godโ€™s mission as revealed in the Biblical narrative. Missions (plural) is our human response to Godโ€™s revelation, resulting in Godโ€™s kingdom being extended through faith in Christ”.

The WEA Mission Commission published a “Forecast 2023” magazine where they essentially admitted that their aim is to ensure conversion to Christianity.

There is a lot more evidence that points to the obvious proselytising nature of WEA, however, for the purpose of this article, it suffices to say that for WEA – a partner of World Vision – conversion to Christianity and “bringing the Gospel” to the “vulnerable” is one of the prime objectives.

Behind the facade of a ‘humanitarian organisation’, World Vision-funded terror outfit Hamas

Curiously, in 2021, the Israeli Registrar of Non-Profits petitioned the Jerusalem District Court to dissolve a local branch of the international aid agency, World Vision, citing financial mismanagement and alleged terror funding. Following a multi-year investigation, the Registrar found that the non-profit failed to implement humanitarian projects as claimed and diverted funds, including to Hamas.

The case is linked to Mohammad El-Halabi, World Visionโ€™s Gaza manager, accused of redirecting $50 million in aid to Hamas. While World Visionโ€™s Australian officials denied the allegations and insisted on proper financial oversight, an independent audit contradicted these claims. The audit revealed unclear financial transactions, multiple bank accounts, and salary payments not aligned with the non-profitโ€™s goals. Additionally, non-profit checks were found in Hamas operativesโ€™ possession.

According to ME Forum’s Sam Westrop, World Vision also helped arrange funds for an Islamic terror organisation linked to Osama Bin Lande – and USAID was in the know of it.

The findings emphasize significant oversight failures, with the Registrar concluding that, at best, the organization was negligent in financial management.

World Council of Churches – A USAID funded World Vision trusted partner – links to Bread For The World which in turn funds Harsh Mander, separatists and Urban Naxals

Another trusted partner of World Vision is the World Council of Churches (WCC). In their own words, “The World Council of Churches is a fellowship of churches which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the scriptures, and therefore seek to fulfil together their common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is a community of churches on the way to visible unity in one faith and one eucharistic fellowship, expressed in worship and in common life in Christ. It seeks to advance towards this unity, as Jesus prayed for his followers, “so that the world may believe.” (John 17:21). The World Council of Churches (WCC) is the broadest and most inclusive among the many organized expressions of the modern ecumenical movement, a movement whose goal is Christian unity”.

The World Council of Churches is funded by several governments across the world either directly or indirectly.

In 2018, a report calling Amarnath Yatra a “militarised pilgrimage” was published to undermine the faith of Hindus. OpIndia had covered the report extensively and delved into the organisations which published the report.

OpIndia had found that the organisations had links to Islamists, Urban Naxals and Christian organisations – one of them being Bread of the World.

The concerned report titled โ€˜Amarnath Yatra: A Militarized Pilgrimageโ€™, on the basis of which all of the portals wrote the abysmal articles was published by the Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) in collaboration with Bangalore-based Equitable Tourism Options (Equations). Its website describes the organization as โ€œa federation of human rights organisations and individuals working in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.โ€

JKCCS is affiliated with the Coordination of Democratic Rights Organizations (CDRO), an organization we have reported on extensively in the first part of this series, among other organizations. The CDRO has the Peopleโ€™s Union for Democratic Rights (PUDR), Civil Liberties Committee, Andhra Pradesh (APCLC) and Committee for Protection of Democratic Rights (CPDR) as its constituent organizations and has links with PUCL through its fraternal organization, PUDR and Committee for Release of Political Prisoners (CRPP). These organizations have a history of its members being arrested for various activities related to Naxalites as mentioned in our report.

The IPTK, which is a constituent organization of JKCSS, has Gautam Navlakha as one of its conveners. Gautam Navlakha is one of the activists who was raided by the Pune Police in connection with the violence at Bhima Koregaon and had links with an ISI-funded Kashmiri Separatist. Gautam Navlakha is associated with the PUDR as well.

A detailed report on that can be read here.

Equations, which had co-published the insidious report on Amarnath Yatra, was found to have links to Breads of the World in our reportage back in 2018.

On its website, it states, โ€œEquations envisions a just and equitable world, where all people have the freedom and right to determine their lives and futureโ€. It further states, โ€œEquations envisions tourism which is non-exploitative, where decision making is democratized and access to and benefits of tourism are equitably distributed.โ€ The organization states that it works across the themes of โ€˜Child & Tourismโ€™, โ€˜Ecosystems, Communities and Tourismโ€™, โ€˜Governance, Law and Tourismโ€™, โ€˜Tourism Educationโ€™ and other areas related to tourism.

On its website, Equations also mentions the records of the foreign contributions it has received. We discovered that two organizations regularly made contributions to them for โ€˜Research and Advocacy work on Tourism in Indiaโ€™ and related grant and travel expenses from 2016. Those organizations are โ€˜Bread for the Worldโ€™ (henceforth referred to as Bread) and โ€˜Misereorโ€™. In 2018 alone, Equations received over Rs. 26 lakhs in contributions from Bread and over Rs. 24 lakhs from Misereor. In 2017, Bread contributed more than Rs. 57 lakhs and Misereor over Rs. 83 lakhs to Equations. In 2016, Equations received as grant over Rs. 65 lakhs from Bread and more than Rs. 46 lakhs from Misereor. It can, hence, be seen that Equations received a significant amount of grants from foreign organizations.

Breadโ€™s website describes itself as โ€œa collective Christian voiceโ€ whose goal is to end world hunger at home and abroad. It is based in Washington but the donations have been made from Germany. The organization works regularly with a host of evangelical Churches and organizations. Evangelical Covenant Church, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, National Association of Evangelicals, and National Latino Evangelical Coalition among them. Bread also has โ€˜strong partnershipsโ€™ with Oxfam, among other organizations, which was accused of covering up sexual misconduct by its members in Haiti. Bread also plays a leadership role in many coalitions of organizations including the Evangelical Immigration Table.

Conspicuously, another organization that receives a great deal of contribution from Bread is the Socio-Legal Information Center (SLIC), a division of which is the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN). The HRLN works in a variety of areas such as Child Rights, Labour Rights, Prisonersโ€™ Rights, Criminal Justice, and Refugee Rights among a host of others. Notably, the HRLN claims it has been providing free legal aid to Rohingya detainees across the country. The network has filed PILs related to the implementation of the RTE Act. HRLN has also filed a PIL in the Supreme Court on behalf of Najeebโ€™s mother, the missing student from JNU, upon which the SC directed the Delhi government, the Police and authorities at JNU to be even more rigorous in their probe to find him. The HRLN was also part of a campaign to abolish sedition along with PUCL, PUDR, APDR, CPDR, and APCLC, which are coordinating organizations of CDRO, an umbrella organization we have reported on extensively.

A detailed report can be read here.

This is, however, not all. Harsh Mander also has links to Bread of the World.

Harsh Mander had worked in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) for almost two decades and quit the services โ€˜in protestโ€™ against the โ€˜state-sponsored riotsโ€™ in Gujarat in 2002. Since he left the IAS, Harsh Mander has spent quite a colourful life in โ€˜civil societyโ€™ organizations. Among his many contributions, he has worked as the country director of ActionAid India. However, he is most famous for his service in Sonia Gandhiโ€™s National Advisory Council (NAC) which drafted the anti-Hindu Communal Violence Bill. Most recently, he was also seen inciting violence ahead of the Delhi anti-Hindu violence.

Harsh Mander is also a known Ishrat apologist, the female LeT operative who was killed in an encounter along with three others by Crime Branch Officials in Gujarat. He was also one of the individuals who had signed a mercy petition for the Mumbai Attack Terrorist Yakub Memon, was among the 203 persons who had signed the mercy petition for Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab and had signed the mercy petition for Afzal Guru also. Apart from such antics, his judicial interventions have been many. Harsh Mander had also filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the recusal of then Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi from hearing a case relating to the condition of detention camps and deportation of illegal immigrants from Assam.

Harsh Mander was also one of the forty โ€˜activistsโ€™ who had filed a review petition in the Court against the Ayodhya Verdict that paved the way for a Bhavya Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. He is also part of the coterie which filed a petition against the Citizenship Amendment Act. It is important to remember here that Harsh Mander did all of this while being associated with foreign-funded NGOs.

Harsh Mander with his organization โ€˜Karwaan-e-Mohabbatโ€™ published a report on the violence at the Aligarh Muslim University that absolved the students of all sins and peddled numerous lies against the Uttar Pradesh Police. Later, of course, the entire report turned out to be a massive fraud. Harsh Mander had also promised to register himself as a Muslim if the CAB was passed but OpIndia has not been able to confirm yet if he has gone through with his promise after the CAB became CAA. He has also spread great lies about the NRC in the past and the foreign tribunals in Assam.

Earlier, Mander was part of a coterie that had penned a letter against the CAA. Harsh Mander and his NGO Karwan-e-Mohabbat have been very active in the protests in Shaheen Bagh, the anti-CAA protests masterminded by the notorious Radical Muslim Sharjeel Imam – which eventually led to the Delhi anti-Hindu riots. He had also incited a mob ahead of the violence.

A detailed report can be read here.

Another NGO that appealed against the CAA and incited sentiments ahead of the Delhi anti-Hindu riots was ‘INSAF’. INSAF too was funded by Bread For The World. A full report on that can be read here.

Bread For The World also has close ties to USAID. Samantha Power, USAID administrator, praised Bread For The World only a few months ago. USAID has also funded Breads For The World.

World Council of Churches, World Evangelical Alliance and World Vision rallied against anti-conversion laws

In August 2024, The National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) issued a statement condemning the intent of the Uttar Pradesh Government to pass the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion (Amendment) Bill 2024. โ€œThis amendment significantly intensifies the provisions of the original Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021,โ€ the July 31 statement said.

WCC endorses the ridiculous Aryan Invasion theory to describe India and also emphasises caste – a trope that is often peddled to convert vulnerable Hindus.

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) and the Evangelical Fellowship of India (EFI) submitted a joint written statement to the United Nations Human Rights Councilโ€™s 46th session, held from February 22 to March 23, 2021, under Agenda Item 4: Human rights situations that require the Councilโ€™s attention. In this statement, WEA and EFI vilified India and Hindus, denouncing the anti-conversion laws that were passed in several BJP-ruled states.

In 2023, the World Evangelical Alliance also attempted to interfere in India’s internal affairs by holding a discussion at the UN about the ethnic violence in Manipur. They also misrepresented the violence in Manipur as an onslaught against Christian Kukis when the target community has widely been the Hindu Meities of Manipur.

The Meitie representative at the panel tried to put forth his views, but according to an NDTV report, was squarely shut down. The report reads:

Khuraijam Athouba, the spokesperson of the Core Committee (COCOMI), an umbrella body of Meitei civil society groups, got three minutes to speak towards the end of the panel discussion. He alleged the discussion was “one-sided” and propagated the views of only one community.

“This is a forum of the United Nations, so everyone has a right to know the facts and truth to address what is happening in Manipur… When we talk about the Hindu majority, we Meiteis in Manipur are not the majority… We represent around 8.5 lakh of the (state’s) population. And the Christians in Manipur are around 12 lakh. They comprise more than 53-54 per cent,” Mr Athouba said before he was interrupted by the moderator, who asked him to make haste.

“But we need to clarify the facts,” Mr Athouba responded.

“If you are narrating it in the wrong context, we need to check it out. Or shall we go with the wrong facts and continue this debate and discussion? What’s your intention then, we need to check it out. The religion card was never an issue in the Manipur violence because the Meiteis never targeted Christians. There is also a huge population of Meitei Christians… They (panellists) missed informing that Meitei churches have been completely vandalised and razed in Kuki-dominated areas in Churachandpur right on the first day (of the violence) before violence broke out in Imphal,” Mr Athouba said.

Mr al-Saliby of the World Evangelical Alliance, who moderated the discussion, then insisted that the session has to end and offered to speak to the COCOMI spokesperson after the event.

“But allow me to speak. Let the audience know. Why are we completely neglecting the issue of narcoterrorism? The UNODC has already reported that Churachandpur has become the hub of the new Golden Triangle… It is a completely one-sided discussion. It should be neutral,” Mr Athouba said, referring to a report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The “Golden Triangle” refers to the tri-junction of the Myanmar, Laos and Thailand borders, which used to be the preferred route of drug traffickers.

Mr al-Saliby strongly denied it was a one-sided discussion. “We are not a one-sided discussion. There is a lot we can provide after the discussion,” he said.

“Then you should have the patience to listen to me,” Mr Athouba shot back.

Even before the BJP came to power at the centre in 2014, the WEA was targeting Hindus, misrepresenting facts and attacking the BJP. In 2012, it specifically raised concerns about the state of Karnataka, which was governed by the BJP. It also vilified Hindus as extremists.

Jayakumar Christian – CEO and Director of World Vision India – “Hindus need to be introduced to God”

An interview with Jayakumar Christian, the World Vision India head by Christianity Today reveals the sinister agenda of the organisation and the contempt the organisation itself has for Hindus.

Upon being asked how Hindus feel when they get introduced to Jesus Christ, in the interview, Jayakumar Christian says, โ€œAverage Hindus need to be introduced to the name of that Godโ€”Jesus. I’ve said many times that we do not need to break our heads in India convincing any Indian about the existence of God. The challenge is, “What is the name of this God who is involved with the poor?” That’s where Christian distinctivenessโ€”and divisivenessโ€”is felt. Our privilege in World Vision is being able to call attention to the name of God as Jesus through our lives, relationships, and actions, not in a divisive manner, but in a distinctive manner.โ€

Jayakumar Christian, who is the head of World Vision India, also appears to be deeply sympathetic towards Urban Naxals.

Christian expressed sympathy for Stan Swamy, who was an Urban Naxal jailed for his anti-national activity.

According to the NIA, Stan Swamy was a key conspirator in the Bhima Koregaon Elgar Parishad case of 2017, which witnessed violence, stone-pelting, and arson at Shaniwar Wada in Pune. He was arrested on October 8 and produced before the Special Court in Mumbai the following day. Interestingly, he was never put under police custody and was instead remanded to judicial custody at Taloja Central jail. The NIA had informed that all legal formalities, including medical examination, were undertaken.

As per the Central investigative agency, Stan Swamy was a โ€˜hard-core CPI (Maoist) activistโ€™ who had received funds from other Maoists for furthering the activities of the banned outfit. He was also the convenor of PPSC, an organisation that was alleged to be a front organisation of CPI(M). โ€œIncriminating documents related to communications for furthering the activities of the banned terrorist organisation CPI (Maoist) were seized from his possession,โ€ the NIA emphasised.

Soon after Stan Swamy was arrested for his involvement in the Bhima Koregaon violence case, the left-liberal lobby went into overdrive to fight for his bail. However, earlier this year, the special NIA court refused to grant bail to the Jesuit priest, maintaining that prima facie Stan had hatched a โ€œserious conspiracyโ€ with the members of a banned Maoist organisation to plunge the country into chaos and overthrow the government.

Rejecting the bail plea of Stan Swamy, the special judge DE Kothalikar cited the email correspondence between the activist and his co-accused, observing that Stan and others he communicated with were referred to as โ€œcomradesโ€, and that Swamy had received Rs 8 lakhs from one comrade, Mohan, allegedly for the furtherance of Maoist activities.

Action by Modi govt against USAID funded World Vision

In 2022, the Modi government suspended the FCRA license of World Vision India after it was found that it was a religious organisation, however, it was accepting FCRA under the garb of being a humanitarian organisation.

In January 2024, the Modi government suspended the FCRA license of World Vision, much to the outrage of the Left.

The narrative was rather simple – the Modi government has suspended the foreign donation license of an organisation that works for the poor, needy children, only because it claims to be a Christian organisation. That the organisation was predatory, had dubious links and was manipulating vulnerable Hindus did not particularly make it to the Left narrative.

In the latest financial report by World Vision, an entire section is added explaining the cancellation of the FCRA license by the Modi govt.

According to World Vision, the following is the chronology of action against them.

1. Background of Tax Audit and Assessments

โ€ข In 2016-17, the Income Tax Department (IT Department) initiated a Special Audit under Section 142(2A) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 for the Assessment Year (AY) 2014-15 (Financial Year 2013-14).

โ€ข On July 31, 2017, the Society received a notice of demand under Section 156 of the Act for INR 101.92 crores due to the IT Departmentโ€™s assessment of permissible expenses.

โ€ข The Society appealed on August 24, 2017, arguing legal and factual errors in the IT Departmentโ€™s assessment.

โ€ข To avoid being classified as an โ€œassessee in default,โ€ the Society paid INR 10 crores as part of the tax demand.

2. Direct Bank Deduction & Additional Tax Demands

โ€ข In February 2018, the IT Department directly deducted 20% of the total tax demand from the Societyโ€™s bank accounts as part of its enforcement action.

3. Assessment Year 2017-18 (Financial Year 2016-17)

โ€ข On December 24, 2019, the Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions) issued an order under Section 143(3) estimating a tax payable of INR 31.39 crores.

โ€ข A notice of demand was issued under Section 156, requiring payment within 30 days or an appeal within 60 days.

โ€ข The Society filed an appeal on January 18, 2020, arguing legal and factual errors in the IT Departmentโ€™s findings.

โ€ข To avoid being classified as an โ€œassessee in default,โ€ the Society paid INR 1.56 crores as part of this tax demand.

4. Assessment Year 2018-19 (Financial Year 2017-18)

โ€ข On September 14, 2021, the Additional/Joint/Deputy/Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax issued an order under Section 143(3) estimating a tax payable of INR 5 crores.

โ€ข A demand notice was issued under Section 156, requiring payment within 30 days or an appeal within 60 days.

โ€ข The Society paid INR 5 crores to avoid being considered an โ€œassessee in default.โ€

โ€ข The Society also filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court, arguing legal errors in the IT Departmentโ€™s order.

5. Assessment Year 2021-22 (Financial Year 2020-21)

โ€ข On December 30, 2022, the Assessment Unit of the Income Tax Department issued an order under Section 143(3)estimating a tax payable of INR 9.99 crores.

โ€ข A demand notice was issued under Section 156, requiring payment within 30 days or an appeal within 60 days.

โ€ข The Society filed a writ petition in the Madras High Court, arguing legal errors in the IT Departmentโ€™s assessment.

โ€ข The Madras High Court granted an interim stay on the assessment order and tax demand.

Conclusion

With the USAID funding being frozen, such organisations may take a temporary hit, however, one has to wonder if funding to such fundamentalist Christian organisations would be restarted by the US government in some other form, if not the USAID.

Note: This is part 1 of the series that will be focussing on USAID and other US govt departments funding Christian conversion in India. On World Vision itself, OpIndia has collected over 400 magazines that the NGO has published since the 1950s. The material will be analysed in the coming weeks.

India summons Bangladesh High Commissioner to register protest against negative portrayal of India and holding India responsible for internal issues

India has lodged a strong protest against Bangladesh for its negative portrayal of India in the country and for holding the Indian govt responsible for its internal problems. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned Md. Nural Islam, Bangladesh Acting High Commissioner to India, on 7 February to register the protest officially.

“The Bangladesh Acting High Commissioner to India, Mr. Md. Nural Islam, was summoned by MEA to the South Block today, February 7, 2025, at 5:00 pm,โ€ MEA said in a statement.

MEA told the Acting High Commissioner that it is regrettable that regular statements made by Bangladesh authorities continue to portray India negatively, holding India responsible for internal governance issues. โ€œThese statements by Bangladesh are in fact responsible for the persistent negativity,โ€ MEA added.

The statement issued by MEA said that the Bangladesh govt has been told that India desires a positive, constructive and mutually beneficial relationship with Bangladesh, which has been reiterated several times in recent high-level meetings.

India also said that comments made by ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina has been made in her individual capacity and India has no role to play in that. โ€œConflating this with the Government of Indiaโ€™s position is not going to help add positivity to bilateral relations,โ€ the statement said.

MEA further added, โ€œWhile the Government of India will make efforts for a mutually beneficial relationship we expect that Bangladesh will reciprocate similarly without vitiating the atmosphere.โ€

The MEA action came after the Bangladesh govt summoned the Indian envoy yesterday to protest against a speech made by Sheikh Hasina. Bangladeshโ€™s foreign ministry handed over a protest note to Indiaโ€™s acting high commissioner in Dhaka a day after Hasina made the speech on her Awami League partyโ€™s social media channels. In her speech, she accused interim government chief Muhammad Yunus of conspiring to kill her and her sister Sheikh Rehana.

Bangladesh govt requested that India prevent her from making further speeches.

Notably, since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, anti-India sentiments have skyrocketed in Bangladesh. The interim govt led by Muhammad Yunus has also shown its anti-India stand.

Samajwadi Party borrows Maha Kumbh organisation of Yogi govt to make election pitch for 2027, says Akhilesh will organise a grand Ardhakumbh in 2032

In an ironic twist of political winds, even those political parties that earned notoriety for their Muslim appeasement and suppressing or neglecting Hindus are now scrambling to paint themselves as the champions of Hindu causes to woo the majority community. In this vein, โ€œ27 mein aayenge Akhilesh, 32 mein bhavya Ardhkumbh karayenge visheshโ€ posters have been put up outside the Samajwadi Partyโ€™s office in Lucknow.

The poster implies that when the Samajwadi Party will be voted to power in Uttar Pradesh in the coming assembly elections in 2027, Akhilesh Yadav will organise a grand Ardhkumbh in 2032 in a special manner. This apparently is yet another move by the Samajwadi Party to use the Hindu festival of Kumbh for its political gains.

The posters feature Akhilesh’s photograph, showcasing him taking a holy dip at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, which he did on January 26. The posters have been put up by Somil Singh Srinet, the state spokesperson of Lohini Vahini of the party.

Samajwadi Party trying to find faults in Mahakumbh, failing and setting targets for Ardhkumbh, forgets the  flawed organisation of 2013 Kumbh by Akhilesh Yadav govt

OpIndia has reported earlier how the opposition parties, particularly Samajwadi Party leaders a pushing their apocryphal narrative that somehow the organisation of the Mahakumbh under the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh has been a massive failure. They even blamed the supposed mismanagement and VIP movements for the stampede that claimed 30 lives and left about 60 to 70 injured. However, contrary to the falsehoods being peddled by the opposition parties, there were no VIP movements on the day the stampede occurred.

The tragedy unfolded as a huge crowd gathered at the Akhara Marg due to which, the barricades on the other side broke and the crowd ran over the devotees waiting to take a holy dip of Brahma Muhurt on the other side. Despite specific ghats and routes designated for devotees in specific regions, the devotees were keen on bathing at the Triveni Sangam in the auspicious muhurt.

Samajwadi Party leaders resorted to disinformation to score political points against the CM Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh. Recently, SP MP Jaya Bachchan claimed that the water in Prayagraj is contaminated as dead bodies of stampede victims have been thrown in the holy Ganga river. She also dismissed the government figures of the number of devotees visiting Mahakumbh. Unsurprisingly, Bachchanโ€™s comments were devoid of any factual basis.

Similarly, Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav earlier claimed that contrary to official numbers given by the administration, thousands of people died in the stampede.

The Samajwadi Party, however, is peddling lies and politicising a tragedy so much so that it is putting up posters boasting how they would organise a grand and special Ardhkumbh in 2033 unlike how the BJP government organised Mahakumbh. Basically, the Samajwadi Party is telling the BJP that โ€œyou donโ€™t know anything, I will show you how itโ€™s doneโ€ and conveying the message to the people of Uttar Pradesh that the Akhilesh Yadav-led party can host a better, safer and grander Kumbh than the BJP.

As the Samajwadi Party is subtly suggesting that the success of Mahakumbh under the BJP administration is marred by imagined failures, letโ€™s stroll down memory lane to recall how the Samajwadi Party government organised the 2013 Kumbh in Prayagraj. From the stampede during the Maha Kumbh to not spending adequate money and doing proper crowd management, hundreds of irregularities took place in his government.

Then Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav could not find a better person to entrust the responsibility of organising Kumbh than Azam Khan. Azam Khan was made the chairman of the committee of the Kumbh Mela. The now-jailed Azam Khan probably had no interest in the Kumbh, the biggest gathering of Hindus, and during that time he was busy running his parallel government in Rampur and setting up Jauhar University.

Under Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khanโ€™s watch, 42 people were killed in a stampede at the railway station of Prayagraj on 10th February 2013 on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya. The report about this accident also came out later. One of the reasons for this accident was that the state government had not arranged for enough buses. After this accident, Azam Khan offered his resignation in a typical political drama but Akhilesh Yadav refused to accept it. Two days after the accident, Akhilesh Yadav went to Prayagraj and after roaming around in the car, he went back.

The apathy towards Hindu devotees and irregularities in the fairโ€™s organisation were not limited to this. The CAG report revealed that the date for completion of all the works for the 2013 Kumbh was initially set as 30 November 2012, but many of these works were not completed even before the fair began. Their dates were extended thrice in the meantime.

According to the CAG report, Akhilesh Yadavโ€™s government could not complete 59% of the infrastructure work till the start of the fair i.e. 14 January 2013. That is, Akhilesh Yadav, who is currently making an issue of the wires not being installed on the poles, could not complete 60% of the work in his government till the start of the fair.

Even out of 111 road construction works, 65 were not completed even after the fair ended. Moreover, 4 projects worth Rs 26 crores could not even be started. Despite all this, the Akhilesh government informed CAG in January 2013 that all the works were completed. Besides, the Samajwadi Party government also gobbled up the centre-allocated funds for Kumbh. Out of Rs 1152 crore, Rs 341 crore was given by the central government, however, only Rs 1017 crore were spent and Rs 134 crore remained unspent. Even the additional fund of Rs 800 crore granted to the state government was not used at all. This meant that the Akhilesh Yadav-led government spent only 1% of its own pocket that Rs 10 crore as Rs 1141 crore was already given by the Central government.

The level of misappropriation was such that bus and motorcycle numbers were given for the tractors working in the fair. The CAG report said that 30 workers were shown working at two places at the same time. They were also paid. In some places, crores of rupees were spent in the name of bridge repairs and at other places money was wasted on barricading. Overall,  massive corruption took place.

While the Samajwadi Party is crying hoarse over the supposed lack of safety for the Mahakumbh devotees, in 2013 Kumbh, only 5 divers were deployed to protect 12 crore people. There was 77% shortage of fire extinguishers and a 60% shortage of ambulances. During the course of the event, 67 fire incidents were reported in 2013 Kumbh, most of which were due to LPG cylinder leakage or short circuits.

The mobile laboratory proposed for testing food samples was not deployed, due to which adulterated, substandard food items were being sold to the devotees. Besides, took no care for the environment or prevent pollution.

Besides the corruption and apathy towards the safety of Kumbh devotees, there was a significant lack of coordination within the administration. The Mela was marred by inadequate waste management and a sheer lack of health services for the devotees.

Unlike the disastrous organisation of the Kumbh Mela by the Akhilesh Yadav government, the Yogi governmentโ€™s Mahakumbh event is nothing short of a logistical marvel. While the stampede did taint the otherwise massively successful Mahakumbh event, the Yogi government left no stone unturned to ensure that the Hindu devotees faced no difficulties during their stay in the Kumbh Kshetra. From launching a special app for Mahakumbh, installing QR codes for services in Mahakumbh in 11 languages, installing thousands of cameras, setting up integrated control room, drone surveillance for better monitoring of the event, to have made arrangements for shuttle buses, e-autos and e-rickshaws within the fair area,  the BJP government has taken numerous measures to ensure a โ€œDivya and Bhavyaโ€ Mahakumbh.

While the Samajwadi Party government failed to provide even basic facilities for the devotees at Kumbh 2013, the BJP government managed to provide not only basic facilities but also offer luxurious experiences to the devotees and foreign tourists. The government built a beautiful Dome City and spacious and comfortable cottages. There are also speed motorboats. Special trains are also being run for the mega Hindu festival for the convenience of the devotees coming from various parts of the country. 10 lakh green toilets, hospitals and arrangements for cultural and religious events have also been made. While there was a 60% shortage of ambulances in Kumbh 2013, the Yogi government has made arrangements for water ambulances well-equipped with medical supplies and medical personnel.

To ensure seamless connectivity, the government set up 180 mobile towers in Prayagraj. A high-tech Digital Kumbh Museum has also been set up to showcase the cultural, religious and historical significance of the Kumbh Mela. In addition, cultural villages or Sanskriti Gram have also been set up in Mahakumbh Nagar to showcase the confluence of spirituality and culture.

Besides, unlike the absolute neglect of the environment by the Samajwadi Party government, the BJP administration had a special focus on the environment. In this vein, dense forests have been developed at various locations across Prayagraj through the Miyawaki technique, to ensure pure air and a healthy atmosphere for the millions of devotees.

Samajwadi Party using Kumbh Mela for political gains

Evidently, Akhilesh Yadav and the Samajwadi Party are not able to digest the fact that the BJP government could organise such a massive event with unmatched success, and attract global attention to the Hindu religious event. The Samajwadi Partyโ€™s โ€œ27 mein aayenge Akhilesh, 32 mein bhavya Ardhkumbh karayenge visheshโ€ posters seem to be rebranding effort to whitewash its disgraceful Kumbh 2013 mismanagement and historical disregard of Hindu sentiments. Since the times are gone when Muslim appeasement alone could win elections with a more aware and united Hindu community playing a key role in elections, the Samajwadi Party is trying to woo the Hindus.

Ahead of the elections, Akhilesh Yadav is trying to bolster his own and Samajwadi Partyโ€™s non-existent pro-Hindu credentials. The very audacity of the Samajwadi Party to project the organisation of Mahakumbh by the BJP government as a failure is laughable, considering how the party failed to provide even basic facilities to devotees in Kumbh 2013 when far less number of people visited Prayagraj, while Yogi governmentโ€™s organisation of Mahakumbh hosting a rough total of about 45 crore people has been spectacular.

The Mahakumbh is truly โ€œMahaโ€ in all senses. The Hindu festival is expected to generate Rs 2 lakh crore in revenue due to spending on accommodation, food,  transportation, retail and other services. Besides, the event is generating 5 to 6 lakh temporary jobs and also allowing local businesses to thrive. The event is estimated to attract over 30 lakh foreign tourists. While the unfortunate stampede should not be downplayed, however, the assertion that the organisation of the Mahakumbh event by the Yogi administration is a failure is more a political lie than a lived truth.

Akhilesh Yadav, whose politics revolves around the M-Y (Muslim-Yadav) formula and whose father ordered the firing of bullets on Hindu Karsevaks in Ayodhya in 1990, now wants to tell the people that the Samajwadi Party somehow is more concerned about Hindus than the BJP which is seen as a pro-Hindu party. While the Kumbh 2013 under SP government was less of a spiritual convergence and more of a mismanagement marathon, now the party is setting its eyes on organising grand Ardhkumbh as if the Hindus have forgotten Samajwadi Partyโ€™s past fiascos.

Samajwadi Partyโ€™s credibility to organise a large-scale Hindu religious event like Kumbh is thinner than the patience of Hindus they have historically neglected. Not to forget, it was Akhilesh Yadav who banned the 84-Kosi parikrama around the Ram Janmbhoomi in Ayodhya in 2013 to appease its Muslim vote bank. This is the same Samajwadi Party which on one hand wants to position itself as somewhat pro-Hindu, and on the other, it financially supports Muslim rioters and Waqf Board in Sambhal.

Apparently, the Samajwadi Party has adopted the strategy โ€œwhen you cannot critique the present, promise moon for the future. While only the 2027 assembly election results will tell whether the Samajwadi Party or the incumbent BJP will get to organise the 2032 Ardhkumbh, the Samajwadi Partyโ€™s desperation is palpable. It is amusing that those who relied on appeasing Muslims, constructing lavish Haj House and donning skull caps on Eid are not relying on Hindu festivals for a political comeback. This, however, is nothing but political opportunism and an attempt to suggest that Hindus should vote for Akhilesh Yadav in the 2027 elections and that he will somehow โ€˜fixโ€™ something that was never broken.

USAID spent $750000 to ‘alleviate distress’ of migrant workers in India, partnered with the NGO of brother-in-law of Sonam Kapoor

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which had attempted to bring about a โ€˜colour revolutionโ€™ in India through its affiliates, had spent $7,50,000 (~โ‚น6.56 crores) to supposedly alleviate loneliness among migrant workers in the country.

The matter came to light on Wednesday (5th January) during a hearing on USAID funding by the US House Oversight Committee.

Republican Representative Nancy Mace was heard saying, “USAID awarded over $7,50,000 to fund alleviating loneliness among migrant garment workers in India. Does this advance America’s interests, Governor?”

An article about the same is published on the USAID website. It is titled ‘Alleviating Loneliness Among Migrant Garment Workers in India.’

The date of publication reads 20th December 2024 although the link has been archived multiple times since 2021. The article claimed –

More than 30 percent of India’s population are internal economic migrants who move from rural to urban areas for work, but lose important support networks when away from their homes. This separation may cause feelings of loneliness and social isolation among India’s millions of young migrants, and affect their health and ability to earn an income. Evidence suggests that social isolation and loneliness can have sweeping negative consequences ranging from a reduced sense of well-being and happiness to impairments in cognitive function, physical health, and even mortality. Workplace programs that address workers’ mental health may help to increase worker satisfaction, retention, and productivity, benefitting both the workers and the companies that employ them, but evidence is scarce.

USAID partnered with Good Business Lab Foundation and Shahi Exports

USAID partnered with ‘Good Business Lab (GBL)’ Foundation for the study. The CEO and co-founder of GBL is Anant Ahuja, the brother-in-law of actress Sonam Kapoor.

According to the article, GBL further took the help of its partner ‘Shahi Exports’ to conduct the study. Shahi Exports, which is India’s largest exporter of ready-made garments, was founded by Sarla Ahuja in 1974.

The USAID article further stated,

With support from Development Innovation Ventures, Good Business Lab Foundation is building off prior pilots to conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) of a low-cost mental health intervention that pairs 1,000 female junior factory workers with female senior workers across six factories owned by partner Shahi Exports…The RCT includes a control group and two intervention groups: one where partners meet a couple times a week to provide general social support and another where senior workers receive specialized training to help junior partners develop strategies to cope with isolation and loneliness.

It remains unclear whether USAID spent $750000 on this study alone, which was referred to during the US House Oversight Committee hearing.

USAID, George Soros and โ€˜colour revolutionโ€™ in India

In March 2017, the Heritage Foundation published a report detailing how USAID worked in close association with far-left billionaire George Soros during the Obama administration to promote its โ€˜radical agendasโ€™ in several countries.

The report stated, โ€œโ€ฆEvidence is emerging that during the past eight years, Soros, his Open Societies Foundations (OSF), and their many smaller affiliates have received U.S. taxpayer money through USAID and that USAID has made the OSF the main implementer of its aid.โ€œ

It may be recalled that George Soros, who worked with USAID, had been eyeing a colour revolution in India.

Screengrab of the Google cache of the now-deleted USAID website

In February 2023, the far-left billionaire exploited the Adani-Hindenburg controversy and launched a scathing attack on the Indian government.

He claimed, โ€œModi and business tycoon Adani are close allies. Their fate is intertwinedโ€ฆAdani Enterprises tried to raise funds in the stock market, but it failed. Adani is accused of stock manipulation and his stock collapsed like a house of cards.โ€

Soros accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of crony capitalism. โ€œModi is silent on the subject, but he will have to answer questions from foreign investors and in parliament,โ€ he added.

The Hungarian-American billionaire also said that the โ€˜shakedownโ€™ caused to the Indian markets due to the Hindenburg Research report will result in โ€˜much needed institutional reformsโ€™ and โ€˜democratic revivalโ€™.

George Soros and his vicious ecosystem of NGOs, activists and journalists had been trying to prove PM Modi as an โ€˜electoral autocratโ€™ who needed to be ousted for the โ€˜greater goodโ€™ of this country. And it has been a work in progress for a long time.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of the article attributed the wrong X (formerly Twitter) handle of Anant Ahuja, the CEO and co-founder of ‘Good Business Lab (GBL)’ Foundation and had erroneously drawn conclusions based on those tweets. Error and the inconvenience caused are highly regretted.

Punjab and Haryana HC express displeasure over illegible handwriting of doctors, says right to know health status is a fundamental right

0

Expressing surprise and shock over handwritten prescriptions given by government doctors in the age of computers, the Punjab and Haryana High Court stated the right to know medical status is a fundamental right under Article 21 of the Constitution. The observation was made by the High Court today during the hearing of an anticipatory bail plea of the accused in a rape case when the court was examining the Medico-legal Report (MLR) of the rape victim filed by the Haryana government.

A single bench of Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri noted, “The handwriting in the aforesaid MLR is absolutely illegible and cannot be understood at all. It is very surprising and shocking to note that in this era of computers, the notes on medical history and prescriptions by government doctors are written by hand which cannot be ready by anybody except perhaps some doctors. This court also has seen in a number of cases where even the medical prescription is written in such handwriting which nobody can read except perhaps some Chemists. The same is the position in the State of Punjab and probably in the UT Chandigarh also”.

The right to know medical prescriptions is a fundamental right

Justice Puri emphasised that the treatment given to a human being is a part of life and thus it should be considered as a fundamental right. “…to have the knowledge about the medical prescription by the doctor and the notes on the medical history is prima facie a right which is vested in the patient or the attendants to pursue the same and apply the mind, especially in today’s technological world. It will not be out of place to even note that the right to know the medical status of a human being can also be considered a Fundamental Right under Article 21 of the Constitution of India. Health and the treatment given to a human being is a part of life and therefore, it may be considered as part of the right to life,” the judge stated.

Highlighting the rampancy of the problem in Punjab and Chandigarh, the court sought the assistance of Advocate Generals of Haryana and Punjab and Senior Standing Counsel of the UT of Chandigarh. The court invited suggestions regarding the remedial and corrective measures that can be taken regarding the illegible writing on the medical notes.

“This court therefore requests the learned Advocate General, Punjab and the learned Senior Standing Counsel, U.T., Chandigarh to also assist this court on the aforesaid issue as to what remedial and corrective measures can be taken with regard to the illegible writing on the medical notes and also on the prescriptions not only by the government doctors but also by the private doctors in both the States and U.T., Chandigarh”, the court said. “It deems it fit and proper to request the Advocate General, Haryana to assist this court on the issue,” the court added. The court also the assistance of the National Medical Commission and adjourned the matter to 13th February.

Orissa High Court asked doctors to write in capital letters

Last year in January, the Orissa High Court directed the state government to mandate doctors to write prescriptions in readable handwriting or capital letters. Justice Panigrahi asked the chief secretary to send a circular to the stateโ€™s government, private medical institutes and hospitals requiring doctors to write the names of medications clearly or in capital letters in prescriptions. The court noted that it should be followed in the case of post-mortem reports as well.

While examining a post-mortem report written by Dr Biswaranjan Pati, the Judge said that it cannot be understood in an ordinary course of reading unless the writer of the report himself, or a handwriting expert, is given the opportunity to examine such description.

UP court fined a doctor Rs 5000 for poor handwriting

In October 2018, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court imposed a penalty of โ‚น5000 each on three doctors in separate cases for their illegible handwriting. The order came when the court was examining the injury reports of victims issued by the district hospitals of Sitapur, Unnao and Gonda. The court said that the injury reports were not readable because of very poor handwriting. Calling this the obstruction of the court’s work, the court summoned the three doctors who wrote the reports and imposed penalties on them. The court directed the Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) to ensure that in future the medico reports are prepared in easy and legible handwriting.

Courts deal with medical reports including MLR, injury reports and post-mortem reports in various cases regularly. Medical reports make for crucial evidence in certain cases. Therefore, the frustration of courts over medical reports written in illegible handwriting that leads to delay is justifiable.

Ahmedabad Police arrests Abdul Mubeen Khan, an HIV-positive man, for abducting and exploiting a Hindu Girl; had targeted 6 others: All you need to know

Ahmedabad police have arrested a Muslim man in connection with the abduction and sexual exploitation of a Hindu girl. The accused, identified as Abdul Mubeen Hamid Khan Pathan, had kidnapped the victim 10 months ago and repeatedly assaulted her at various locations. Notably, Abdul Hamid Khan is HIV-AIDS positive.

The police apprehended both the accused and the Hindu girl from Madhya Pradesh. Investigations revealed that Abdul Mubeen had abducted the girl in March 2024. She had gone to attend a wedding at a place called Sagira Shahibaug on March 22, 2024, but mysteriously disappeared around 8 PM that night.

Her family searched for her but failed to locate her, prompting them to approach the police. Based on their complaint, an investigation was launched.

Even after three months of continuous investigation, the police were unable to gather any information about the girl. The case was then handed over to the Ahmedabad Crime Branchโ€™s anti-human trafficking unit. Meanwhile, the Hindu girlโ€™s family also approached the Gujarat High Court.

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch expanded its search beyond Gujarat to other states. In February 2025, investigators received a crucial lead indicating that the missing girl and the accused, Abdul, were in Bijori, Madhya Pradesh. Acting on this information, a police team reached the location, rescued the girl, and arrested Abdul.

According to aย Times of Indiaย report, Abdul had kept the Hindu girl captive and even deprived her of food. He had rented the house with the help of his relatives. The police have now arrested Abdul and initiated further legal proceedings.

In a statement toย OpIndia, Shahibaug police confirmed the operation, revealing that Abdul Pathan originally hails from Bareja, Ahmedabad. To evade arrest, he kept moving from city to city with the minor girl. Currently, efforts are underway to present him in court and secure his remand.

Previously Exploited Six Other Girls

Reports indicate that Abdul initially kept the girl in Ahmedabad. Later, acting on a lawyerโ€™s advice, he moved her to various cities, including Surat, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Beed, Hyderabad, and Bilaspur. The police now plan to take action against the lawyer who advised him.

The police revealed that the accused was aware of his HIV-positive status, yet he had targeted six other girls in the past. Authorities are now working to trace all the victims, and once found, they will undergo medical examinations.

Vibrant Villages Programme: Read how PM Modi’s initiative to develop border regions transformed India’s First Villages, changed lives

In order to strengthen the social and security framework along the China border, the union cabinet allotted Rs 4,800 crore in 2023 under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP). It was started as a centrally supported initiative whichย aimedย to develop all of the villages that have been identified in 46 blocks that border the north and north eastern region in 19 districts of Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh andย the Union Territoryย of Ladakh. Now, the initiative’s tremendously positive outcomes are beginning to show.

On 6th February 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shed light on the same during his address in the Rajya Sabha. He stated that in addition to serving various communities, the government also paid attention to the most remote areas of the nation, including border villages which had been disregarded as backward regionsย by previous administrations and their policy of prioritizing Delhi and neglecting the rest.

PM Modi emphasized the change in mindset that the government has brought about, to ensure that border villagers are given precedence. He underlined that these settlements have been granted special status as “first villages” with particular development plans as they are located where the sun’s first and last rays touch.

According to the prime minister, ministers were dispatched to isolated hamlets to spend an entire day there, even in frigid temperatures like minus 15 degrees, to learn about and solve the issues afflicting the locals. He added that village leaders and heads from these border regions are welcomed as guests on Republic Day, Independence Day and other national holidays. He reiterated the centre’s dedication to “Sabka Saath and Sabka Vikas” as well as its persistent attempts to outreach to all underprivileged populations.

PM Modi pointed out the government’s perpetual focus on the “Vibrant Villages Programme” and stressed its significance and effectiveness for the country’s security.

What is Vibrant Villages Programme

The VVP was officially launched at the Arunachal Pradesh border village of Kibithoo on 10th April 2023. The programme seeks to develop the border villages in all aspects, including building roads and homes, offering decentralized renewable energy, television and telecom connectivity, promoting tourism and culture, fostering entrepreneurship and skill development, building societies to create jobs and more. The goal is to create economic possibilities and supply basic amenities for the border residents to guarantee that they do not feel excluded from the development gains and leave these isolated places.

The government recommended spending Rs 4,800 crores over five years (2022โ€“2023 to 2025โ€“2026) to complete these tasks. Of the designated sum, Rs 2,500 crores would be used for road construction and the remaining for other infrastructure projects. The programme, which calls for the comprehensive development of 2,967 villages spread over 19 districts in four states and one union territory along the India-China border, was approved by the union government on 15th February 2022. The initiative consists of three stages, with the first phase focusing on the priority development of 662 border areas.

There are 455 villages in Arunachal Pradesh followed by Himachal Pradesh (75), Uttarakhand (51), Sikkim (46), and Ladakh (35). To increase the resources available for improving socioeconomic services there, the union government directed that all other centrally sponsored schemes that are currently in place and concentrate on providing health, education and sanitation, among other things be integrated and implemented in addition to the VVP projects.

Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Arjun Munda in 2023 informed, “Tribals in border villages have protected the country since ages along with  preservation of  their local traditions and culture. They are the true patriots of the country. We are privileged to have you in our midst in the capital city. These border villages, once termed the ‘Last Villages of India’ have been termed the ‘First Villages’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India feels secure because the inhabitants of these border villages are keeping watch.”

“Over 17 Ministers have visited and stayed overnight in these villages. Under the visionary guidance of PM Modi, the government is trying to ensure the delivery of its programmes focusing on the empowerment of women and youth, connectivity with all-weather roads, provision of clean drinking water, 24×7 power to be focused on solar and wind energy, Mobile and Internet connectivity, tourist centers, multipurpose center and health and wellness center,” he further conveyed.

“Further, cooperatives is set to be developed at the local level to manage livelihood opportunities including entrepreneurship agriculture horticulture, cultivation of medicinal herbs etc. The government is committed to the all round development of Border Villages under the Vibrant Villages Programme,” the minister added.

How the programme brought radical change and improved lives

“Life in the village is far better but better education opportunitiesย forceย parents to migrate to the district headquarters to enroll their children in schools. With the government focusing on developing border villages and improving road connectivity, there’s a shift. Now, people are moving back to their villages. I am one of them,” voiced 40-year-old Dipen Molo in a detailed report published by The Print. He long-held a dreamย to establish a Kiwi farm in his hamlet butย spent almost 30ย years away from home in pursuit of more opportunities.

The border village of Ebamee is located in the Dibang Valley area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Anini circle. The hamlet, which is 24 kilometers from the main Anini town, has seen considerable development in recent years, which has prompted himย to return. Likewise, manyย people from the Dibang Valley district’s border communities are rediscovering their heritage. Kibithoo and the surrounding villages in the Anjaw district of eastern Arunachal Pradeshย now have multiple home stays, a bus service that connects Kibithoo with Tezu in Lohit district near Assam, mobile network connectivity, blacktopped roadsย and the best bakery in Walong calledย the “Kibithoo Frontier Cafe” orย “KFC.”

This was just 18 months after the Vibrant Village Programme kicked off. The people have taken advantage of the tourism potential and it’s all transpiring close to the Line of Actual Control (LAC). A cafe in Kibithoo is owned by 27-year-old Pramila Rai and three of her friends, who sell coffee, cookies, momos and noodles. She completed her studies at Tezu Government College. About two years ago, the Indian Army launched a soft-skills training program that gave the four women the courage to launch their own business. The army also granted them course certificates.

Pramila stated, “We take orders for birthday cakes for both civilians and army personnel. You find a little of everything in Kibithoo now – roads and highway, medical facility, mobile network that reached our village only 3 to 4 months ago. We can now make best use of our smart phones.”

In May 2023, Kibithoo got 4G network connectivity for the first time.

How Indian Army plays a critical role in development of border villages

The Indian Army and personnel of the Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) play a critical role in the Vibrant Villages Programme. They not only undertake training initiatives for locals, but actively participate in activities, often working side by side with the locals to implement the projects.

“With a renewed vision to develop the border villages through Vibrant Village Programme, the task of the Indian Army has doubled. Besides guarding the borders, they have today become the active partner in successful implementation of the vibrant village programme”, Arunachal CM Khandu posted past year, thanking the Army.

Cooking and baking workshops and health camps are frequently organised by the Army in these areas, training locals to learn new skills and develop their entrepreneurship potential.

Kaho in Arnunachal Pradesh is called India’s first village, which has 17 homes and a population of just over 100. The village is now a popular destination for tourists from all around the nation.

Alinye and Angrim Valley, close to Achesoย are alsoย positioned to become model villages. Military infrastructure projects that are also intended for civilian use are largely responsible for the valley’s development. Foot Suspension Bridges (FSB) are essential for the people who live on both sides of the Dri River. The army repaired a 70-meter FSB at Acheso in August.

More eco-campsites and homestays are being constructed by the people of Dri hamlets. Additionally, tourists are swarming to the area’s well-known Chigu Camp resort, which is ideal for experiencing snowfall during the height of winter. Furthermore, the government organizes trekking trips along the Dri River and a chance to see endangered species such as as the Mishmi Takin, a goat-antelope species listed as Vulnerable (IUCN) in the upper Mishmi Hills.

Vibrant Villages Programme: Collaboration between army and people

Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General KT Parnaik in 2023 stated that VVP “must be collaborative in nature, wherein armed forces and local people share their facilities and resources.” He visited the vibrant border village of Tuting in Upper Siang District and talked to the community leaders and members and assured that the army would assist the locals in every possible way.

The Governor, who was visiting vibrant border villages, remarked that the Vibrant Villages Programme was started by the Indian government to promote the overall development of the border regions. He asserted that the project needs to be cooperative in nature, with the local population and the military sharing resources and facilities. He also encouraged the locals to focus on tourism, poultry, animal husbandry and horticulture to make optimal use of the potential of their regions.

According to him, the armed personnel stationed close to the villages would receive fresh food products and fresh vegetables, while the locals will be able to earn a fair living and develop their independence and capabilities.

In December 2024, Arunachal CM Pema Khandu had shared that as many as 455 villages in his state have benefitted from the Vibrant Villages Program.

Notably, although the government has always prioritized the development of border regions, the June 2020 hostilities between the Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Ladakh region acted as the impetus for the VVP’s inception. Poor road connectivity was a defining feature of India’s border regions, particularly those the country shared with China. The government was therefore unable to access these regions and offer the border inhabitants essential facilities and services.

The border population is forced to relocate to mainland cities and towns in the hope of a better life due to a lack of basic conveniences and job opportunities. Populated villages in border regions are critical from a national security perspective. Because abandoned villages serve as an opportunity for hostile forces to occupy. Taking last mile connectivity and development to frontier areas not just strengthens the nation, it sends a message of inclusivity for the people who have been left neglected for decades.

Creating sufficient chances for local people to remain in their villages rather than move to towns is the main goal of theย programme. Military strategists believe that out-migration gives the Chinese the confidence to extend their territorial claims beyond the current deployment. Vibrant villages on the border are not just a sign of a prosperous nation, they are a message to the neighbouring countries that ‘Here we are, Indians, and we are here to stay.”

Wrestling Federation moves its office back to Brij Bhushan Singhโ€™s house after failing to get new premises due to sports ministryโ€™s ban

0

The office of the suspended Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has returned to the house of former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh at 21, Ashoka Road, Janpath after the management failed to get a new place due to the ban imposed by the Sports Ministry, a WFI official said.

WFI office had moved out from Brij Bhushan’s house to Hari Nagar, following accusations of sexual harassment imposed on him by India’s top wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik in 2023.

Last month, WFI President Sanjay Singh claimed that the federation’s office was located in Hari Nagar. He also confirmed that they had found a new place in Connaught Place and would shift there on February 2.

However, according to the latest developments, the WFI have now returned to Brij Bhushan’s house after their failure to get a new premise because of the ban imposed by the Sports Ministry.

“The office of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) returns to the old address, the old registered house of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in New Delhi as management failed to get a new place because the Sports Ministry has still imposed the ban on the federation and no one gives them new premise because of the ban,” WFI offical said.

The Sports Ministry suspended the WFI body after the newly elected WFI president Sanjay Singh announced the hosting of the U-15 and U-20 nationals at Nandini Nagar in the Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh in December 2023.

“We try to find new place but everytime the landlord said you are banned by the Sports Ministry so how could we give you new premise. So to ensure that the game does not suffer and also players do not suffer more so we moved in old place till we didn’t get new place for setup and this will be possible when the Sports Ministry removes its ban on us,” the WFI official added.

Kshama Sawant’s visa drama continues: Ex-councilmember creates a ruckus in the Indian consulate in Seattle, threatens staff over rejection

Indian-American politician Kshama Sawant and her supporters launched an attack on the Indian consulate in Seattle. She allegedย that whileย her husband was given an emergency visa,ย her applicationย to travel to India to see her 82-year-old ailing mother in Bengaluru was denied three times. She claimed that her name was put on a “reject list” without offering any explanation.

The members of her political organization “Workers Strike Back” arrived at the consulate where Sawant was holding a protest. “We engaged in a peaceful civil disobedience at the consulate office, with other members outside on the street,” she added. Sawant, who vehementlyย opposes Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party,ย “urged” the political opposition to defend her and other critics, arguing that it is in their best interests to do so.

On the other hand, the Indian consulate in Seattle wrote about a law and order issue involving “unauthorized entry by certain individuals” into its building after office hours. It added that these people acted aggressively and threateningly toward the employees and refused to leave the premises despite numerous requests. “We were compelled to call in relevant local authorities to deal with the situation. Further action is being initiated against the trespassers,” the consulate affirmed.

Sawant stated, “We were simply asking for an explanation as to why my visa was rejected three times, and by the consulate’s own admission, I’m on the Modi government’s reject list. Rather than giving us an explanation, the consulate repeatedly threatened to call the cops on us, tried to confiscate our phones, and tried to physically remove us.” She remarked that they would remain at the consulate until they received a response for the repeated denials of her visas.

“All we are asking for is an explanation. Why am I on a reject list? Why is my visa being rejected three times,” Sawant asked. She also wrote about her anti-India stances including propaganda against NRC-CAA and caste politics, claiming to champion the causes of marginalised groups and therefore being targeted by the current administration in New Delhi.

Moreover, Sawant also accused the Indian officials of being physically assaulted. “One consulate staff person first violently grabbed a Workers Strike Back member and tried to take her phone. The phone fell down, and the consulate staff member engaged in a scuffle, trying to grab the phone. At the same time, another consulate staff person physically fought me when I was holding the door open for all of us to leave. He violently tried to push the stairwell door shut to try to physically block us from leaving, despite the fact that we were doing exactly what they had repeatedly asked us to do, which is leave. Instead, they literally tried to trap us in, clearly to try and get us arrested by the police.”

She expressed that under capitalism, the police are not the allies of working people. “But it was so obvious that we were being assaulted while peacefully leaving that even the police felt forced to say something to object to the manhandling of us by the consulate staff.” In 2024, Sawant’s request for a visa was turned down twice, however, she was allowed to come to India earlier. According to her, the opposition parties must unite and object to “an inhumane agenda where Indian citizens, like my mother, are not allowed to meet their own families.”

Sawant, a former Seattle City Council member threatened that she is considering filing a lawsuit to overturn her visa decision, although she hasn’t started the procedure yet.

It is worth noting that a visa is a privilege enjoyed by non-Indians to visit the country, not a birthright that Kshama believes it to be. As far as no reason being offered before rejection, it is notable to mention that hundreds of Indians get their visa applications rejected in various US embassies across the country, with no specific reason provided for their rejection.

Rahul Gandhi’s controversial Telangana Caste Census: Unconstitutional Muslim classification, vote bank politics, and divisively polarising agenda

Rahul Gandhiโ€™s government in Telangana conducted a caste survey in the months of November and December in 2024. Actually, in the name of caste survey, they even tried to conduct a comprehensive survey of all material assets (how many vehicles you own, how many properties you own etc), but we will ignore that for now.ย

Rahul Gandhi thundered in Lok Sabha how his government in Telangana finished a caste survey and shocking results came to light. I donโ€™t know if the results are shocking, but the classification of the results is certainly very shocking. In fact, they reveal the nefarious intentions of Rahul Gandhi to divide the people of Bharat.ย

Here is the summary table of what the state government published. All media carried out these numbers in various tabular/design formats. I highlighted the most dangerous classification from this report.

According to this survey, the total number of Muslims is 44,57,012. Out of this, Rahul Gandhiโ€™s government is claiming that 35,76,588 Muslims fall under the Backward Castes category. That is a whopping 80% of Muslims in the state that they have unilaterally classified as Backward Castes! Caste classification in Muslims has already been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of India. Yet, Rahul Gandhi, who constantly harps on the Constitution of India has no hesitation in going down the unconstitutional path just to satisfy his vote bank.ย

While looking at the table, some obvious questions will come to anyoneโ€™s mind. For example: What about other religions? The summary report that Rahul Gandhiโ€™s government has released does NOT mention any other religion. So, we donโ€™t know under which category he has classified Christians, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis etc in his table above.

The summary report has an exclusive focus on Muslims. It says 15.79% are OCs in Telangana and this includes the 2.48% of Muslims who are not BCs. There is no mention of any other religion in this classification. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy speaking in the Assembly also highlighted how the total BC population is 56.33% and this includes 10.08% of Muslims as BCs. It still beats why there has to be a separate classification for just Muslims in OC and BC.ย

A special 1-day assembly session was called by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to discuss the report. You would assume that they will table the report, and we will get to see the details. No report was tabled in a session that was called to discuss the report! His ally, Owaisi was very agitated at not being shown the report but only a summary that has been doing the rounds. The government took shelter under privacy laws and the volume of the report (it is 1000s of pages long etc!) and said the session is only for accepting the awesome summary!ย

This resolution and report have now been sent to the Central government for approval. The central government cannot approve such a blatantly unconstitutional report. Once they reject it, Rahul Gandhi will again go to town screaming that his caste census report has been rejected. His divisive games are simply getting dangerous by the day.

There is another obvious question that everyone is now asking. Will Rahul Gandhi change the Chief Minister of Telangana? Clearly by his utterances so far, it is only natural that Telangana should have a Chief Minister from the BCs. Rahul Gandhi will pass on that blame also to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.ย

The people of this country have continued to reject Rahul Gandhiโ€™s divisive ideas. With each rejection, his resolve to make his ideas more dangerous keeps on increasing. Itโ€™s like he wants to punish the people of Bharat for rejecting his ideas. What else explains the dangerous idea of classifying a whopping 80% of Muslims as Backward Castes?
