Meet Harsh Mander: The ‘PIL Activist’ who always manages to land himself in the wrong side of Indian interests

Controversial left-wing ‘Activist’ Harsh Mander has landed himself in a spot of bother after a video where he can be seen inciting Muslim mobs against the Indian State and judiciary went viral on social media. Mander said that henceforth, decisions pertaining to matters of the state shall not be delivered by the Supreme Court or the Parliament but will be made in the streets. Since then, the Supreme Court has refused to hear Harsh Mander’s petition until he clarifies his ‘justice on the streets’ speech.

The Delhi Police, too, has filed an affidavit against Harsh Mander in the Supreme Court accusing him not only of inciting violence but also bringing disrepute to the Judiciary and have sought contempt of court proceedings against him. The Police have also requested the Judiciary to dismiss the petitions filed by Harsh Mander and enforce exemplary costs on him.

In yet another video that has gone viral, the ‘activist’ has accused the Supreme Court of failing India’s minorities. It is, of course, obvious that when Harsh Mander says ‘minorities’, he does not mean Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs or Parsis. Meanwhile, he has fled to the United States of America while the Supreme Court spends its precious time on the petitions he filed. Harsh Mander had filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding the arrest of BJP leaders for ‘inciting’ the communal riots in Delhi.

Harsh Mander is the Chairman of George Soros’s Open Society Foundation’s Human Rights Initiative Advisory Board. As readers would be aware, George Soros had recently announced that he will commit $1 Billion towards fighting ‘nationalism’ and ‘nationalists’ and had chosen Prime Minister Modi as a prime target. Under such circumstances, it is worth looking into the antecedents of Harsh Mander.

Who is Harsh Mander?

Harsh Mander had worked in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) for almost two decades and quit the services ‘in protest’ against the ‘state-sponsored riots’ in Gujarat 2002. Since he left the IAS, Harsh Mander has spent quite a colourful life in ‘civil society’ organizations. Among his many contributions, he has worked as the country director of ActionAid India. However, he is most famous for his service in Sonia Gandhi’s National Advisory Council (NAC) that drafted the anti-Hindu Communal Violence Bill.

Presently, Harsh Mander is the Director of the Centre for Equity Studies (CES). It has received funds from Christian Evangelical Organizations and he has openly batted for religious conversions in the past. Apart from Christian organizations, the CES has received funds to the tune of Rs. 30 crores between 2010 and March 31st, 2018. The donors include Action Aid, Oxfam and Bread for the World (Bread).

Bread has also donated to HRLN and another NGO that published a report calling the Amarnath Yatra a ‘militarized pilgrimage‘ in collaboration with a Kashmiri separatist organization. The Kashmiri separatist organization, in turn, is associated with the CDRO, an umbrella organization with intimate links to ‘Urban Naxals’. It is pertinent to mention that Harsh Mander was represented in Court by Colin Gonsalves, the founder of the Human Rights Law Network (HRLN).

In the past, Harsh Mander’s article designed to fuel the victimhood complex among Muslims was shared by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. He had written in the article published in 2018, “Muslims are today’s castaways, political orphans with no home, for virtually every political party. This despite India being home to a tenth of the world’s Muslims, around 180 million people, making it the largest Muslim country after Indonesia and Pakistan. There has never been a harder time to be a Muslim in India, not since the stormy months that followed India’s Partition.”

Judicial Interventions by Harsh Mander

Harsh Mander is also a known Ishrat apologist, the female LeT operative who was killed in an encounter along with three others by Crime Branch Officials in Gujarat. He was also one of the individuals who had signed a mercy petition for the Mumbai Attack Terrorist Yakub Memon, was among the 203 persons who had signed the mercy petition for Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab, and had signed the mercy petition for Afzal Guru also. Apart from such antics, his judicial interventions have been many. Last year, Harsh Mander had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking the recusal of then Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi from hearing a case relating to the condition of detention camps and deportation of illegal immigrants from Assam.

Harsh Mander was also one of the forty ‘activists’ who had filed a review petition in the Court against the Ayodhya Verdict that has paved the way for a Bhavya Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. He is also part of the coterie has also filed a petition against the Citizenship Amendment Act. It is important to remember here that Harsh Mander did all of this while being associated with foreign-funded NGOs.

Harsh Mander role in the CAA unrest

Harsh Mander with his organization ‘Karwaan-e-Mohabbat’ published a report on the violence at the Aligarh Muslim University that absolved the students of all sins and peddled numerous lies against the Uttar Pradesh Police. Later, of course, the entire report turned out to be a massive fraud. Harsh Mander had also promised to register himself as a Muslim if the CAB was passed but OpIndia has not been able to confirm yet if he has gone through with his promise after the CAB became CAA. He has also spread great lies about the NRC in the past and the foreign tribunals in Assam.

Earlier, Mander was part of a coterie that had penned a letter against the CAB. Harsh Mander and his NGO Karwan-e-Mohabbat have been very active at the protests in Shaheen Bagh, the anti-CAA protests masterminded by the notorious Radical Muslim Sharjeel Imam. Even more intriguingly, Harsh Mander spoke on the ‘importance of solidarity’ and “how we can practice civil-disobedience in today’s India”. Karwan-e-Mohabbat had also urged people to join the protests at Shaheen Bagh. And now, a lot more in this regard has surfaced as has been already mentioned earlier in the report.

Other Ventures

Harsh Mander is also the founder of the campaign Aman Biradari, “for secularism, peace and justice”, which often works in association with the CES. In addition to this, he has taught courses in numerous highly esteemed colleges and universities including the Jamia Milia Islamia. His other NGO venture, Karwan-e-Mohabbat, had used the ‘lynching’ of a man to peddle the narrative of rising hate crimes in the country. Harsh Mander had waxed great eloquence about rising intolerance, however, the man had later returned to his home safe and sound.

Delhi police detains one Akhtar Khan after he attempts to enter Parliament with three live bullets in pocket, released after verification

Delhi police have now released Akhtar Khan, the man who was detained as he tried to enter the Parliament, which is in session, through Gate-8 today with three live bullets in his pocket. He was released after police verification.

Upon being apprehended by the security personnel, he claimed the bullets are for his licensed gun and he had forgotten to take out them from his pocket. The security personnel had handed him over to the Delhi police.

“One person, Akhtar Khan, was entering Parliament through Gate-8 today. He had 3 live rounds in his pocket which were detected by security personnel. He said that he said he had forgotten to take out the live rounds before entering. He was later handed over to the police and is being interrogated,” the Delhi Police said. Later in the day, Delhi Police let him after verifying his background.

This came at the time when Delhi has been gripped in violence after anti-CAA Islamic rioters ran amok, indulging in stone-pelting, vandalism, arson in the anti-Hindu riots that erupted in North East Delhi earlier this week.

Amongst several others, a Delhi police constable has lost his life in the riots that have ensued in the national capital in wake of the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. Another DCP has been injured during clashes in Delhi’s Gokulpuri. An IB official, Ankit Sharma, was brutally murdered and his dead body was thrown in a drain.

BJP has to make Mamata Banerjee pay a political price in West Bengal for her statement on Bangladeshis

BJP may have found the gaffe it needed. In the run-up to the General Election, the video of Mamata Banerjee getting out of her car and giving chase to 2-3 BJP workers who uttered Jai Shri Ram became viral in West Bengal. The words “Jai Shri Ram” became a rallying cry for dissenters all across the state, just what BJP would have liked.

Times of India article

More significantly, the matter transcended usual political gossip and passed into political consciousness, becoming fodder for memes, Whatsapp humour. Even little kids were making Tik Tok videos on the theme of “Mausi” Mamata getting angry with “Jai Shri Ram.”

That’s how you know something has really really seeped into public consciousness. In retrospect, it is stunning that a politician like Mamata would lose her cool so badly. But BJP made her pay for it, big time.

On the citizenship issue, the BJP was slightly on the backfoot at first, with many Bengali Hindu voters having apprehensions about their own documents. But these problems were completely flushed out by CAA. In fact, by making a huge issue out of it, the opposition sort of did BJP’s homework for them. Effectively, TMC advertised to every Bengali Hindu that BJP has ensured no Hindu has anything to fear.

But BJP needed something crisp and clear from Mamata Banerjee that they could use against her. And she might have just given them what they were looking for. This clarification is of no use now.

She said what she said. The comment is viral all across the state. She can try damage control, but in a state used to hardline politics, such things rarely help. The very fact that Mamata is issuing clarifications shows that she knows that a big mistake has just been made.

It is for BJP to latch on to this comment and make sure she pays a heavy political price. When you look into her original comments, they are bad. Really bad. She said that a Bangladeshi living in India should be able to vote for CM and PM. That’s basically giving away our sovereignty to foreigners. It is up to BJP to make sure that nobody forgets this line for the next one and half year.

Everyone knows that Bengal 2021 is the biggest Assembly election test that Modi sarkar will face in its second term. Win here and you take out the cherished citadel of Indian liberalism. It will hurt the ecosystem at a deep psychological level that cannot be captured by data. Imagine how badly Tripura hurt them. Now take that and raise it to a power of 100.

It seems that Amit Shah will be running the Bengal campaign directly from this point.

Untitled
The Print article about Amit Shah spending 3 days every month in West Bengal

The optics of that is not great, especially because Bengal, unlike Uttar Pradesh, does have a strong undercurrent of sub-nationalism. But honestly, what other option did the BJP have? Did the Bengal BJP really have a leader who could match Mamata Banerjee directly in a personality contest?

It had to be turned into a Didi vs Modi contest. While Mamata will play the outsider vs insider card, I think Modi has definitively crossed the threshold and embraced as own by the Bengalis. The thing about Bengali regionalism is that its ego can be easily satisfied. A bit more talk about the love of Sandesh and Rasogolla, mentions of Rabindranath and Subhas Bose, with lines sprinkled here and there in Bengali, will do the trick.

This is where Didi’s gaffe helps even more. Because it creates an obvious and biting counter to Didi’s jibes. How can you say that a foreigner from Bangladesh is your own but India’s Prime Minister is not? Shame!

And Amit Shah has hit Didi exactly where it hurts.

Untitled
The Print article on West Bengal CM’s nephew

In West Bengal at least, wealth is a political liability. Even more when so many people feel like you haven’t earned it. The rise of Bengal’s Rajkumar (who shares my name) has definitely not gone unnoticed. Unlike Mamata, her nephew has no CV of political struggle, simply a history of wealth and entitlement.

Naturally, BJP wants to put a whole lot of focus on this prince who nobody likes but everybody has to tolerate. By doing this, Shah is also fishing for a counter jibe from Abhishek, which will draw him into a direct battle with Modi. A self-made man like PM Modi vs the entitled prince is a one-way contest in West Bengal.

From this point onwards, it is all about the Battle Royale in West Bengal. Bihar will be a nice rest stop to have, a prize to pick up along the way. It is for Shah to map out a campaign that will drive Mamata Banerjee crazy. When taunted, she is prone to making gaffes that go viral. This is a fantastic weakness to have in an opponent. She has already made a big one. BJP has to target one gaffe per month to be extracted from her, all the way till May 2021.

Islamic Preacher refers to Delhi Police personnel as ‘atankwadi’ in viral video where Muslim mob is attacking them during anti-Hindu riots

Delhi had been on the edge after Islamic rioters ran amok, indulging in stone-pelting, vandalism, arson in the anti-Hindu riots that erupted in North East Delhi earlier this week.

Few videos have emerged today where a violent mob of rioters can be seen attacking the Delhi Police officers with stones and sticks.

While the video clearly shows the Delhi police being beaten up ruthlessly by an Islamic mob, at the receiving end, an Islamic preacher named Yasir Arafat, while referring to this viral video, took to Twitter, to unabashedly refers to the Delhi police personnel as ‘atankwadi’ (terrorist).

Screenshot of Yasir Arafat’s Tweet where he calls the Delhi police ‘atankwadi’

This is the same video which captured brutal assault on DCP Shahdara Amit Sharma and constable Ratan Lal. While DCP Sharma was severely injured, constable Ratan Lal later succumbed to his injuries. As it appears on his Facebook home page, Yasir Arafat calls himself an Islamic preacher, ‘social worker’, ‘social activist’ and reportedly the founder of an NGO named ‘Paigham’ based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

Yasir Arafat’s Facebook profile where he calls him an Islamic preacher and the founder of an NGO

Yasir Arafat in one of his previous tweet had hailed Delhi anti-Hindu riot shooter Mohammad Shahrukh by calling him a ‘hero’.

Yasir Arafat in one of his tweet’s hailed shooter Mohammad Shahrukh by calling him a ‘hero’

For the uninitiated, amidst the Delhi anti-Hindu riots, a video of a man opening fire at the police, and one policeman bravely standing in his way emerged. The shooter was identified as Mohammad Shahrukh, who has now been arrested. It had emerged that Shahrukh’s parents were drug peddlers.

However, this is not the first time someone has been seen using derogatory remarks against the Delhi police. Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party leader Mayur Panghaal took to Facebook to comment on the brutal murder of Intelligence Bureau official Ankit Sharma in the Delhi riots. In a status update, he referred to Sharma as a ‘thulla’. Thulla is a derogatory term used to refer to policemen. He also attacked the Delhi police in one of his derogatory tweets by saying: “He (Ankit Sharma) was assisting the rioters like his fellow policemen on camera?”

Earlier, AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, too, had referred to Delhi Police as ‘thulla‘. He has also in the past accused Delhi Police of working on instructions of the BJP. Panghaal was later removed from the party.

Telangana: Facing fund crunch for ‘Seetha Rama Kalyanam’ celebrations, Bhadrachalam temple decides to sell tickets

The temple trust of Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam of Bhadrachalam district of Telangana has no money left in its coffers to organise ‘Seetha Rama Kalyanam’ and has decided to sell tickets to fund the celestial wedding, reports Hans India.

The Devasthanam board had decided to sell tickets for Kalyanam ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 5000, which has stoked controversy as VHP threatened to stop any such move. Even though the Seetha Rama Kalyanam was declared as state festival, the trust does not get any funds from the government except pair of silk robes and pearls costing about Rs 20,000, as per the report.

The online sale of tickets to participate in annual Sri Rama Navami Brahmotsvam of Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple started on Sunday (March 1). The tickets will be available for ‘Tirukalyana Mahotsavam’ scheduled to be held on April 2 and ‘Maha Pattabhishekam Mahotsavam’ on April 3.

According to the temple official, the temple earns about Rs 2 crore per month, out of which Rs 90 lakh goes to the staff salaries and about Rs 40 lakh to the Telangana State Endowments Department towards the payment of goodwill fund. The temple is left with only Rs 60 lakh.

The agriculture land owned by the temple measures about 917 acres but out of that 847 acres in Purushottapattanam of East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.

“Most of this land is under encroachment and the case is pending before the High Court,” said an official.

The temple also has another 200 acres in Medak district in Telangana which is also under encroachment. Similarly, temple lands to an extent of nine acres in Pathabandla and another 5.25 acres in K Jaggavaram in West Godavari district, 3.87 acres of land located in East Godavari of Andhra Pradesh is under encroachment.

Addition to that, the Telangana government has issued a government order separating 12 acres of the non-encroached temple land for education purpose.

“The revenues from other sources and the user charges paid by the encroachers of the agricultural lands are meagre and the temple itself has to meet the legal expenses,” the sources said.

“With the fund shortage, the temple was not in a position to celebrate Kalyanam unless it accepts additional revenue by selling tickets if the state government does not provide funds. The state government should reduce the tax of 21 per cent the government has been collecting from the temple,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the VHP and other Hindu religious organisations are likely to meet Governor Tamilisai Sounderarajan on Monday demanding that the temple withdraw its decision to sell tickets for the celestial wedding.

Watch: TMC MP Mahua Moitra tears up paper and throws it towards speaker while creating ruckus in Lok Sabha

In a dishonourable act towards the Speaker of the lower house, TMC MP Mahua Moitra was seen tearing up papers and throwing them aiming towards Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla while creating ruckus during the ongoing budget session in Parliament. This was done while Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was making a statement on Tuesday.

The video shows Mahua creating ruckus in the well of the house along with several other the opposition MPs. There, she starts picking up papers from the Lok Sabha secretariate employees seated at the centre of the house, crumbling it into a ball and throwing it towards the speaker at the Chair. The opposition was uncompromisingly demanding for a discussion on Delhi violence that the speaker eventually agreed to have after the Holi vacations. But opposition seemed to be imposing the discussion over the government resorting to utter turmoil and hooliganism including Mahua Moitra’s shoddy act of tearing and throwing paper towards the Speaker, disrespecting the Chair.

On Tuesday, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla called an all-party meeting. He requested leaders not to make any ruckus in the Parliament and let both the houses work. Notably, members from nine parties consisting of SP, BSP, CPM, TMC, RJD, CPI, INC, Shiv Sena, and NCP were part of the meeting.

The Opposition started raising slogans that led to the adjournment of the lower house thrice till 4:30 pm as the opposition still continued the ruckus.

Mahua Moitra had earlier filed a petition in the supreme court to challenge the Citizenship Amendment Act and asked the top court to hear the case urgently. However, the Supreme court denied accepting Moitra’s request for an urgent hearing in the case.

The Wire huddles up to defend Ankit Sharma’s murder accused Tahir Hussain, provides platform for him to claim innocence

The absconding Aam Aadmi Party leader Tahir Hussain who was charged for the brutal murder of IB employee Ankit Sharma and for instigating anti-Hindu riots in Delhi has now been arrested by the Delhi police.

While this news would surely bring in some relief to Ankit Sharma’s aggrieved family, it has just increased the workload of many leftist media outlets, like The Wire. After putting in best of efforts to water down the brutality meted at Ankit Sharma, the left propaganda website, The Wire, is now having to go the extra mile to prove Ankit Sharma’s murderer, Tahir Hussain innocent.

In a so-called ‘exclusive’ interview with The Wire, Tahir Hussain claims that he is “innocent and a victim of communal violence myself”. He is heard saying in the video clip, relayed by The Wire on Twitter, that he should not be targeted for being a Muslim. He says he has full faith in the judiciary and claimed that justice will be done.

Interestingly, Tahir Hussain had made similar appeals in another ‘exclusive’ interview with India Today, just before surrendering in court.

As it has emerged, AAP Corporator Tahir Hussain is smack in the middle of this brutal saga where Ankit, an IB official, was brutally murdered. Eyewitnesses have said that Ankit Sharma was dragged in the house that belongs to Tahir Hussain, by a Muslim mob along with two others. Images and footage of Tahir Hussain himself wielding a laathi have emerged along with the rooftop of his house, littered with stones and petrol bombs. The roof of his house was used by hundreds of Islamists to throw stones and petrol bombs on people in the area.

The Delhi police had filed a case against the AAP leader under Section 302(a) Murder, in the Dayalpur police station of Delhi.

Interestingly, while all other news channels are reporting Tahir Hussain’s arrest some leftist portals have already started building his defence.

Prior to this, The Wire had tried to dilute the depravity heaped upon Ankit Sharma by saying that he was ‘believed to be beaten to death’.

The Wire, by saying that Ankit Sharma was ‘beaten to death’, not only attempted to water down the brutality meted at him but also tried to scale down the magnitude of bestiality inflicted on the Hindus by the Islamists in Delhi as a whole. It is, in fact, a shoddy attempt to shield the Islamist aggressors and cover-up their spiteful mindset.

But what can be said for a portal like The Wire, which has taken pride in hiring a radical Islamist like Sharjeel Imam, the mastermind of the Shaheen Bagh protests who had boasted of ‘cutting off the North East’ from the rest of India.

Read: From The Wire to everything else, the Anatomy of an Islamist: Into the mind of Sharjeel Imam, the mastermind of Shaheen Bagh

It is really interesting to note that The Wire somehow always manages to provide platforms to radical Islamists or rioters like Tahir Hussain.

It had made several attempts to shield the Islamists and paint Hindus as the aggressors in the Delhi anti-Hindu riots. Till the FIR was filed, it did not even bother covering the brutal murder of Ankit Sharma.

The first article that The Wire wrote on the murder of Ankit Sharma, was on the shoddy defence that was presented by the AAP leader Tahir Hussain.

The second article that The Wire wrote on Ankit Sharma’s brutal death only mentioned the FIR being filed and repeated some of the lies by Hussain.

It is sufficiently clear that left media portals like The Wire have been tirelessly following the decided narrative of the rest of the Islamist apologists to the very last word.

Meet Nadia Whittome, the 23-year old British MP who believes the democratically elected Govt of India is ‘colonial’

Nadia Whittome, the recently elected Member of Parliament to the United Kingdom’s House of Commons from Nottingham East, has generated quite the flutter in Indian circles on social media. In the aftermath of the Anti-Hindu Delhi Riots, the ‘Baby of the House’ (youngest MP) has labelled the communal riots where numerous Hindus were murdered as a ‘pogrom’ against the Muslim community, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The 23-year old MP from the Labour Party has called the communal riots a “sustained and systemic Hindutva violence waged on Indian Muslims, sanctioned by the BJP”. She appears to have ignored entirely the rabid Islamists who incited the violence and engaged in an organized campaign of vandalism against Hindu-owned property and the murder of Hindus including policemen and Intelligence Bureau officials.

A member of Jeremy Corbyn’s faction within the Labour Party, Whittome has also embarked upon a slander campaign against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. She claimed that the RSS had contributed “absolutely nothing to the independence struggle” while “people like my grandfather risked their lives fighting for Indian independence”. Furthermore, she claimed that “They are not only continuing colonialism through the BJP, but now call themselves anti-colonialists.”

Nadia Whittome’s tirade against the RSS

Whittome’s opinions appear consistent with that of the politician she adores, Jeremy Corbyn. The far-Left Labour leader had led the party to its worst General Elections defeat in decades that gifted Boris Johnson’s Tories a resounding majority on its own in the British Parliament. Her politics appear to be consistent with that of her grandparents, who belonged to the Communist Party of India.

The Corbynite faction of the Labour Party can be roughly compared to the Bernie Sanders-inspired Justice Democrats in the United States, which consists of Congresswomen such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib among others. The Justice Democrats, who are socialists, wanted to kill ‘farting cows’ as part of their Green New Deal, an effort to stop the supposed impending climate change apocalypse. They are currently at war against the Moderate Democrats in the US, who are quite Far-Left in their own outlook, represented by Joe Biden in the Presidential Race.

Whittome, personally, was a pro-Remain candidate in the ‘Brexit’ General Elections in 2019 while her party’s stand on the matter was never quite clear. Leaders like her are a large part of the reason why the Labour Party suffered such a catastrophic defeat. A great section of the electorate saw the stand of the party as a great betrayal of the Democratic results of the Brexit Referendum and switched over to the Tories who promise to ‘Get Brexit Done’.

The young leader had said about Britain’s exit from the European Union, “Brexit is a threat to the jobs and livelihoods of people in Nottingham, to migrants, to our rights, the NHS, and our planet. As a hate crime worker, I see first-hand the rise of the far-right, which feeds itself off deprivation, disenfranchisement, and a sense of abandonment by the political establishment. I support a fresh referendum and I will campaign to stay in Europe – at the same time bringing the country together by tackling poverty and inequality, and giving people control over their lives.”

The story of Whittome’s rise to power resembles closely with that of AOC’s who was a bartender before she became a Congresswoman. Whittome told The Guardian in January, “It does feel really odd that, not very long ago, I was looking for Christmas temp work – got rejected from a lot of Christmas temp work – and now I’m a member of parliament.” She also scoffs at the idea that young people need more experience before becoming MPs, which is natural given the fact that she was elected to the House of Commons at the age of 23. Her opinions about the Delhi Riots, too, are consistent with AOC’s who had lied about Muslims being ethnically cleansed in India.

With regards to India, Whittome’s opinions are not of place with that of the humiliated Corbyn and her animosity towards the Indian Government appears consistent with that of other members of the party. Following the abrogation of Article 370, the Labour Party had passed a resolution that called for “international intervention in Kashmir” and demanded a UN led-referendum.

After the Indian diaspora registered its offence, the party backtracked on its resolution fearing the loss of votes in the looming General Elections. A Pakistani mob led by a Labour MP had also attacked the Indian High Commission following India’s action on Kashmir. The mob included other Labour MPs as well. The anti-India stand did not appear to end well with the party as it descended into a catastrophe in the General Elections.

Whittome was born to a Punjabi Sikh father, who emigrated to the United Kingdom when he was 21, and an Anglo-Indian Catholic Mother who emigrated from Kolkata in the 1950s. While she claims that her grandfather fought against the Colonial British for Indian Independence, her actions are completely at the polar ends of the spectrum. Her words reflect a desire for British interference in the internal matters of India. However, she appears to have missed the memo that India freed itself from British rule in 194 and is under no obligation whatsoever to care about what she and people like her have to say about Indian internal matters.

Given her stance on the internal affairs of India, Whittome’s claim that the RSS is continuing ‘colonialism’ appear rather ironic. However, it is consistent with the claims of far-left hacks in India such as Arundhati Roy who describe India as a colonial power. The BJP is an Indian political party and the Indian Government was democratically elected by the Indian electorate. Therefore, her claims of the BJP being a colonial power appears rather ironic given the heritage of her own country.

Man in Ghaziabad tested positive for Coronavirus, the total cases in India rise to 30

Another positive case of coronavirus has been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad today, taking the total number of cases in India to 30 so far. According to reports, the Ghaziabad man reported positive is a middle-aged man with a recent travel history to Iran.

Yesterday, Ghaziabad district administration had issued an advisory to the schools and private hospitals on coronavirus alert. While speaking to ANI, the District Magistrate (DM) of Ghaziabad, Dr Ajay Shankar Pandey spoke on coronavirus alert.

He said: “We have declared an emergency number where any person can call and can give any kind of information related to coronavirus. We have given advisory to schools to aware students about coronavirus.” “Private hospitals have also been given advisory regarding coronavirus patients.

We have received all negative report of 153 people who were being tested yesterday,” Ghaziabad DM had added.

A Paytm employee in Haryana’s Gurgaon (now officially known as Gurugram) has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.

Yesterday it was reported that the Noida man’s (who was recently tested positive after he returned from Italy) six relatives in Agra have been tested positive for COVID-19. He had travelled to Agra to meet them.

As per reports, Delhi schools will remain closed for students up to class 5th till March 31.

Moreover, after an Italian man and his wife tested positive in Jaipur, yesterday 14 Italian members from the tourist group and their Indian driver also tested positive, making a total of 17 infections in the group.

Coronavirus is a deadly respiratory which has killed more than 3,110 and so far 90,893 cases are reported globally, according to the World Health Organisation.

The transmission of the virus takes place when someone who is infected comes in contact with another person. According to medical experts, coughing, sneezing or even shaking hands with an infected person can cause exposure.

Karnataka: Crisis hits JDS as leaders look to switch loyalties

In what may seem to be a massive setback for the Janta Dal (Secular) or JDS in Karnataka, as rumours are making rounds that senior leader G T Deve Gowda may quit the party to join the BJP. According to a report by Economic Times (ET), many sitting MLAs have been unsettled about their party’s relevance.

Cracks are forming within Congress-JDS alliance as well as a disgruntled JDU leader told ET that if DK Shivkumar becomes the president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, it will weaken the JDS, especially in the Old Mysuru region. The leader further added that the Vokkalinga community would happily support the Congress leader who could become the Chief Minister if Congress wins the polls.

G.T. Gowda, who defeated the former chief minister Siddaramaiah in 2018 state assembly from Chamundeshwari in Mysuru, has reportedly been keeping away from party affairs. He is believed to have had a secret meeting with BJP Secretary, BL Santosh. G. T. Gowda has been upset about allocation of portfolio as well as denial of ticket to his son.

However, party supremo and former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda dismissed any concern regarding the issue. When quizzed, he responded “If someone goes or come again, I will not get disturbed by it, if someone goes. G.T. Gowda had in the past gone to BJP and come back, he had even become Minister here. Now he may again go back (to BJP). Why should I bother?”

Due to mounting pressure within the party they have started preparing for the 2023 assembly polls and have requested poll strategist Prashant Kishor to help them plan their strategy. JDS joins a long list of political suitors like DMK in Tamil Nadu and TMC in Bengal to avail his services to help them win their respective assembly polls. Prashant Kishor has previously worked with the BJP, JDU (where he was part of the party until recently), Samajwadi Party, Congress, YSR Congress and AAP.
