Controversial Christian preacher Bajinder Singh, infamous for fake ‘healing camps’, to hold meeting in Mumbai, Johnny Lever, Rakhi Sawant and others promote

The controversial ‘Prophet’ Bajinder Singh of Punjab has a ‘meeting’ scheduled for Mumbai on May 12 at MMRDA Ground. The so-called Prophet’s media team has been posting messages on social media platforms urging people to attend the meeting in large numbers.

In a video message, Singh claimed the ‘Holy Spirit’ talked to him and said, “The Holy Spirit has told me those who will come to this meeting their shackles will break off. If you are in any financial trouble, bad health or any other problem, all the shackles will break off.” In Christianity, Holy Spirit refers to the third person of the Trinity or God’s continuous presence on earth.

So far, three actors have voiced in support of ‘Prophet’ Bajinder and urged people to attend his meeting. The famous comedian-turned-preacher Jhonny Lever said in a video message, “You must have heard about Prophet Bajinder Singh. He is a beloved prophet of God. A lot of people have healed because of him. A lot of miracles have been happening. You must have seen the videos of miracles. It is a blessing for us that he is coming to Mumbai.” He then urged everyone to attend the meeting with family and friends to receive ‘blessings’.

Actress Rakhi Sawant, who has openly praised Jesus on several occasions, also rooted for Singh. She said, “It is essential to learn about Jesus. I urge you to leave everything and listen to Bajinder Singh. It is said if you haven’t listened to the pastor, you have done nothing in life. God is great. He saved you from Corona. Won’t you go in prayers? If you have any problem, health or wealth-related, it will be solved with his blessing.” Interestingly, in the video, they used the infamous pyre photographs during the Covid period that were used to defame India.

Naagin series fame Sonia Singh also spoke in favour of Singh. She said, “Prophet Ji is one of the greatest Prophets of India. He does a lot of Prophecies. A lot of miracles and healings take place in his meetings. I have seen them myself. I went to Punjab myself to experience the miracles.” She further claimed a lot of miracles have happened in her life as well. She urged people to attend his Mumbai meeting in large numbers.

Controversies revolving around Prophet Bajinder Singh

Prophet Bajinder Singh is a controversial pastor from Punjab who has made to headlines several times for his alleged ‘changai meetings’ where he claim to do miracles and healings. Singh was born into a Jat family in Haryana’s Yamunanagar. He was arrested and sent to jail for a murder case where he came in contact with a pastor and got inclined towards Christianity.

“He used to read Bible daily and got converted,” revealed police officials privy to the investigations. Kickstarting his business in 2012, Bajinder Singh started holding Sunday prayer meetings for ‘healing’ and gradually became popular.

In 2018, he was arrested by Police in an alleged rape case in Zirakpur, Punjab. Singh was picked up by the police at the Delhi airport when the self-styled Christian Godman was about to board a flight to London. The victim had alleged that Singh lured her in 2017 on the pretext of taking her abroad.

He then sexually assaulted her at his house in Chandigarh and made a video of the same, which he then used to threaten her. Reports suggest that the victim had paid the accused pastor a sum of three lakh for promising her to be taken abroad.

Singh was accused of looting people in the name of healing. In April last year, he was accused of looting Rs 80,000 from a family claiming to get their dead daughter back to life. Shubham Pandit, in his complaint against Singh, revealed that his sister Nandini had been suffering from cancer for several years. They lost their father at a young age and were going through a financial crisis.

When the doctors had given up on Nandini, Pandit came across one Suvarna Khede who worked for the pastor. The family was then called to Chandigarh to meet the pastor. It was alleged that the entire nexus of Singh then began extorting money from the family and even got them converted.

“My sister did not come back to life, we were looted and even converted,” said a dejected Shubham Pandit after being defrauded by the Christian Prophet.

In August last year, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) wrote a letter to Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh, seeking action against Singh for using a minor boy for forceful religious conversion activity. The action by the Commission was initiated after a video featuring a child had gone viral on social media.

The NCPCR, in its letter, noted that such videos promoted superstition and used children for such purposes, thus violating the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015. Taking the matter seriously, NCPCR directed the Deputy Commissioner to inquire into the matter.

In November last year, he made it to headlines after former CM of Punjab Charanjit Singh Channi and actor Sonu Sood were scheduled to attend his meeting in Moga. Vishwa Hindu Parishad called for a protest against him, after which CM Channi decided to stay away from the event. The Hindu organisation Tweeted how due to opposition from the Hindu-Sikh community against pastor Bajinder Singh’s healing meeting held in Moga, Punjab, the arrival of the Chief Minister and other guests, as well as the conversion of hundreds of people, was prevented yesterday. “Illegal conversion will never be tolerated anywhere”, Tweeted VHP.

Rajasthan: Tensions prevail in Bhilwara after a Hindu boy is killed by members of another community, BJP calls for a bandh

0

On Tuesday, a 22-year-old Hindu boy named Adarsh Tapadia was stabbed to death by members of another community over a petty dispute in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district. The police have registered an official complaint in the case and have imposed an internet ban for 24 hours from 6 am in the area.

According to the reports, the incident took place on May 10 when a mob of around 8-10 people murdered the Hindu boy in the Kotwali Police Station area over a petty personal dispute. They attacked him with knives and iron rods resulting in severe injuries. The victim was on his bike when he was attacked and was passing from the Shastri Nagar area.

The victim was then immediately shifted to the Mahatma Gandhi hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead in presence of the district official. The Police reported the incident and registered an official complaint against the accused. Reports mention that some of the accused are minors.

“Some youth entered into a brawl last night. One of them had a knife. One person has died, and 3 accused arrested. Investigation underway. Internet services have been suspended for 24 hrs to maintain peace as rumors are spread in such a situation”, confirmed Ashish Modi, Bhilwara District Collector on May 11.

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the Hindu Jagran Manch, and the Bharatiya Janata Party, meanwhile, have condemned the incident and have called for a ‘bandh’ in the district. “This incident is a shameful incident for Bhilwara and it is an eye-opener for the police administration and the government”, BJP MLA of Bhilwara, Vitthal Awasthi said.

Also, VHP’s Ganesh Prajapat demanded Rs 50 lakh ex gratia for the bereaved family. He called for the arrest of all the accused and said that the deceased boy will not be cremated unless all the accused are caught.

It is pertinent to note that this is not the first time that such an incident of violence has been reported in Rajasthan. Last week, two persons were attacked by unidentified people and their bike was set on fire in the Sanganer area of Bhilwara. On that occasion too internet services had been suspended. Police had arrested one man in the case and had launched a manhunt to nab the other nine accused.

Similarly, on May 3, internet services in CM Ashok Gehlot’s hometown Jodhpur were suspended after agitation connected to the display of religious flags on the Jalori gate circle erupted. The incident led to clashes between two communities and stone-pelting in which five policemen were injured.

In the current case, heavy Police have been deployed in and around the region to ensure that the law and order is maintained. While the internet services have been ceased, the police have arrested three persons so far and have launched a massive manhunt to identify and nab the rest of the accused in the case.

Hakenkreuz, not Swastika: Australia’s Victoria state govt plans to bring in a law to ban public display of Nazi symbol

The government of Victoria state in Australia on Wednesday introduced a crucial legislation in the Parliament which will put a ban on the public display of the Nazi Hakenkreuz symbol. The law imposes the punishment of 12 months in prison and a monetary fine of USD 22,000 to anyone who would intentionally display the Nazi Hakenkreuz ot the hooked cross symbol in public.

According to the reports, the government in the Summary Offences Amendment (Nazi Symbol Prohibition) Bill 2022 mentioned that using the Nazi Hakenkreuz symbol would be a criminal offense attracting severe punishment. It added that it would naturally allow the police to remove and confiscate items that breach the ban.

The attorney general Jaclyn Symes stated that the Nazi symbol is a ‘symbol of hate and division’ and that the introduction of the law will send a clear message that Nazi and neo-Nazi ideology has no place in Victoria. “The Nazi symbol glorifies one of the most hateful ideologies in history, its public display does nothing but cause further pain and division. Victoria is multicultural. We are multi-ethnic. As a government we want to do all we can to stamp out hate and give it no room to grow” she was quoted.

However, she differentiated between the Nazi Hakenkreuz symbol and the Hindu Swastika symbol as she said that legislation will come into effect a year after passing to allow for a community education campaign to raise awareness of the origins of the religious and cultural swastika, its importance to the Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain communities and its distinction from the Nazi symbol. Due to their similar appearances, most people in many countries think the Swastika and Nazi Hakenkreuz are the same symbols.

Meanwhile, Deputy Liberal leader David Southwick said that the ban on the Nazi Hakenkreuz symbol was the proudest moment in his political career. “Enough is enough for these kinds of horrific symbols. The ban couldn’t come quicker. We would call on the government to make this law current and now, not to wait 12 months. The time to act is now. Let’s ensure these evil symbols of hate are banned once and for all,” Southwick said on May 11.

Swastika and the Hakenkreuz debate

There is a lot of fuss around the Swastika and the Hakenkreuz debate. Many people and groups have stood to equate the Hindu religious symbol with the Nazi symbol. However, both these signs are entirely different. The Swastika, a Hindu sacred emblem, was originally mentioned in the Vedas. The swastika is made out of the words ‘su’, which means “good,” and ‘asti,’ which means “to be.” In other terms, bliss. It can be traced back 6,000 years to rock and cave drawings.

Furthermore, the American Jewish Committee, one of the country’s oldest Jewish advocacy organizations, released a leaflet clarifying the distinction between the Swastika used for millennia by Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist cultures and the deformed Nazi version of it.

It is important to note that in the year 2020, the Victorian opposition, the Jewish and the anti-racism groups had called for a ban on the use of the Hakenkreuz after police could not stop the act of a Nazi flag being flown above a house in regional Victoria. Also in the year 2019, the state government was unable to stop a neo-Nazi concert in Melbourne, despite significant pressure from human rights, faith, and anti-discrimination groups to shut the event down.

Reportedly, the ban introduced by the Victorian government does not extend to the online display of the Nazi Hakenkreuz symbol. The Attorney General on May 11 stated that the state government had no powers to regulate the digital world.

A tale of two Indias: Javed Khan, now accused of rape, was hailed for ‘COVID service’ while RSS man was ‘fact-checked’ for sacrificing life

On May 10, Javed Khan, who was once hailed as a Covid warrior for turning his auto into a makeshift ambulance, got booked in a rape case in Bhopal. Khan claimed to have saved at least 15 lives by rushing them to the nearest hospital. He was hailed by countless media outfits, including international organisations, woke liberals, and celebrities of the left persuasion.

News9, in a tweet, said, “Bhopal auto driver Javed Khan has converted his auto into an ambulance & takes patients to hospitals for free. He says he sold his wife’s jewellery to make the ambulance so that he could help people in need as there is a severe shortage of ambulances in Madhya Pradesh.”

Team SOS India said, “Bhopal resident and auto driver Javed Khan has sold his wife’s jewellery and converted his auto to an ambulance. Javed Ji takes patients to the hospital for free. We salute him.”

Asianet published a video story on Javed. They showed a video where Javed was telling how he had converted his auto into an ambulance.

Erik Solheim, President of Green Belt and Road Institute, said, “There are so many covid heroes in India! This auto-rickshaw driver, Javed Khan, in Bhopal has converted his vehicle into an ambulance, complete with oxygen, and he serves people for free. Khan spends around Rs 600 a day filling up oxygen.”

Indian American Muslim Council, the dubious anti-India organisation from the US, also shared a tweet on Javed. They wrote, “Mohammad Javed Khan from Bhopal, a city in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh converted his auto-rickshaw into a small ambulance to help COVID patients for free amid a huge oxygen crisis.”

AFP News Agency also covered the story of Javed and said, “When #Bhopal auto-rickshaw driver Mohammad Javed Khan saw people carrying their Covid-stricken parents to hospital as they were too poor to afford an ambulance, he fitted out his three-wheeler with an #oxygen cylinder, an oximeter and other medical supplies.”

Controversial Maktoob Media wrote, “The day after news about Javed Khan, an autorickshaw driver from Bhopal, who sold his wife’s jewellery to convert his autorickshaw into an ambulance for COVID-19 patients won the internet, Madhya Pradesh Police detained him on his way to the hospital.”

BBC correspondent Megha Mohan also praised Javed.

Hindustan Times did a video story on him and wrote, “A man in MP’s Bhopal has turned his three-wheeler into an ambulance-like vehicle. Javed Khan, an auto driver, is providing ambulance service to Covid patients free of cost. Khan’s auto is equipped with an oxygen cylinder, a PPE kit, sanitiser & an oximeter.”

Founder of controversial media house Milli Gazette, Zafarul-Islam Khan, said, “Man with a big heart: Auto rickshaw turned ambulance: Javed Khan offers free service in Bhopal. An initiative inspired by the urging of family members, Khan, nowadays drives around the city transporting Covid-19 patients free of cost.”

Aljazeera wrote, “As India struggles under a second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, Mohammad Javed Khan has converted his auto-rickshaw into a small ambulance, becoming a symbol of hope.”

Javed Khan was a hero, but RSS’s Narayan Dabhadkar was “dubious” for the media houses

None of the media houses, celebrities, journalists etc. questioned his intentions. However, during the same time, another report had emerged that an RSS Swayamsevak had sacrificed his life to save another Covid patient.

As the story goes, Narayan Dabhadkar, an RSS worker who spent his entire life serving society, contracted covid amid the second wave of the pandemic. As his SPO2 levels dropped, his daughter frantically tried to get him a hospital bed in the city. His daughter somehow managed to get a bed for him at Indira Gandhi Hospital. However, when they reached the hospital, Dabhadkar kaka, as he was fondly known, saw a woman in her 40’s along with her children crying and begging the hospital authorities for a bed to admit her husband, who was in a critical condition.

Without giving it a second thought, Dabhadkar kaka calmly informed the medical team tending to him that his bed should be offered to the lady’s husband. He said, “I am 85 now, have lived my life, you should offer the bed to this man instead, his children need him.”

He asked his family members to take him back home, where he fought the virus bravely for the next three days, after which he left for his heavenly abode.

Media organisations raised doubts over the sacrifices made by RSS worker Narayan Dabhadkar

The mainstream media and the left-liberals were apparently shocked by the sacrifice and decided to fact-check the story. Loksatta fact-checked it based on a so-called social activist from Pune Shivram Thaware’s interaction with Ajay Prasad, Superintendent of Indira Gandhi Hospital, Nagpur. The Indira Gandhi Hospital had informed them they had no patient by the name of Narayan Dhabadkar admitted to their hospital. It was unclear whether the ‘social activist’ contacted Indira Gandhi Rugnalaya, run by Nagpur Municipal Corporation, where Narayan Dhabadkar was admitted or Indira Gandhi Government Hospital, run by the Maharashtra Government, where he was obviously not admitted as a patient.

Dhabadkar Kaka’s daughter released a video setting the record straight. In the video, she said he was being treated at Indira Gandhi Municipal Hospital, and his condition was worsening by the day. The doctors had informed him about his deteriorating condition. While being treated, he heard the chaos of people looking for a bed for their loved ones. That is when Dhabadkar Kaka decided to vacate his bed, citing he had already lived a full life, and the bed occupied by him at any hospital could rather be used for someone else.

Indian Express also did a fact-check where they found the story to be true. However, their report was also laced with doubt and suspicion over the claims despite interacting with the hospital authorities and heckling Dhabadkar’s Kaka grandson-in-law for a statement while he was also battling the Covid-19 virus.

Cyclone Asani brings gold painted chariot like structure to Andhra Pradesh coast, suspected to be from a foreign country

A mysterious gold-coloured chariot-like structure was spotted at Sunnapalli coast in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday evening.

According to the reports, the chariot has a resemblance to the shape of a monastery in Southeast Asian countries. After spotting it in the waters, it was brought to the shore with the help of local fishermen using ropes. The gold-coloured chariot-like structure is likely to be from Myanmar, Malaysia or Thailand. The structure can be a part of a monastery.

The chariot is suspected of having strayed into Andhra Pradesh coast under the impact of cyclone Asani. Locals say that the chariot may have been washed to the coast due to the high tidal waves caused by the effect of the cyclone. It may have reached Indian shores from a country close to the Andaman sea like Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia or Indonesia, it has been speculated. A local police official said that it might have come from another country, and they have informed Intelligence and higher officials to probe its source.

However, some officials say it has not come from a foreign country, but may be from a movie set in India. Santabommali tehsildar J Chalamayya said, “we suspect that the chariot was used for some movie shooting somewhere on the Indian coast and the high tidal activity may have brought it to Srikakulam shore.”

A large number of people from the region gathered at the shore to get a glimpse of the object after hearing about it.

Cyclone Asani, which formed in the Bay of Bengal, is likely to come near the coast of Andhra Pradesh today. A ‘red alert’ has been issued for districts in coastal Andhra. However, the cyclone Asani is unlikely to make a landfall, and ’ is expected to gradually weaken into a ‘cyclonic storm’ today, which will further weaken into a depression by Thursday.

‘Don’t invite girls on stage’: Kerala Maulvi lashes out at fellow clerics for inviting a meritorious girl on stage to receive an award

A video has emerged from Kerala where a Muslim cleric was seen opposing the presence of a Class 10 girl on the stage at a felicitation ceremony.

According to the reports, Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama, also known as Samastha, the controversial Islamist body in Kerala, had organised a felicitation event during an inauguration of a madrasa at Malappuram. During the event, the clerics felicitated several students, including boys and girls who had successfully completed their Class 10 exams.

In the video that has gone viral since the incident, the clerics were seen presenting awards to a boy, after which a girl is invited onto the stage to receive her award.

When the class 10 student named Mashida was called on stage to receive the trophy for topping her class, senior cleric MT Abdulla Musaliyar walked towards the place where the girl was felicitated and reprimanded the fellow clerics for inviting “a girl on stage”.

“Who has invited this 10th standard girl on stage? If you repeat this, beware. Don’t invite such girls. Don’t you know the decision and policy? Call their guardians instead. Did you invite her?” the cleric asked.

The cleric then went on to slam the fellow Muslims for calling her on stage and questioned if photographs of the event will be taken. As the other clerics said that the images would be shared, the cleric expressed his reservations over sharing the stage with the girl child.

Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader Panakkad Sayed Abbas Ali Shihab Thangal handed over the award to the girl student.

Rajasthan: POCSO Court in Kota convicts Maulvi Abdul Rahim for raping 6-year-old, imposes life imprisonment with fine of Rs 1 lakh

On Tuesday, the POCSO Court in Rajasthan’s Kota district convicted Maulvi Abdul Rahim (43) for raping a 6-year-old girl in November last year. The Court slapped the accused with life imprisonment and a monetary fine of Rs 1 lakh.

According to the reports, Special Judge Deepak Dubey addressed the little victim in the judgement and narrated a poem for her. “O my little innocent fairy queen, stay happy and blessed. We have sent the evil demon who made you cry behind the bars till the last breath of his life. Now you can fly fearlessly and fulfil all your dreams. Stay cheerful, blessed and happy”, the poem in Hindi roughly read.

The case of the sexual abuse of the minor dates back to November 2021. Maulvi Abdul Rahim who is a resident of Rampura, Kota was an Urdu teacher and had arrived in Kotsuwa, the village of the victim minor to teach Urdu at the Madarsa. The minor had been attending Urdu tuitions with other students at the Madarsa. On November 13, Maulvi asked her to wait after the class and raped her.

The matter came to light when the girl reached home in the evening with screams and tears in her eyes. She narrated the incident to her mother and aunt who asked the family members to lodge an official complaint against the Maulvi. Reportedly, an FIR was registered at Degod Police station and the Maulvi was arrested for physically abusing a minor child.

The Police carried out the medical and DNA tests and confirmed that the Maulvi had raped the 6-year old girl. They charged the Maulvi under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 5(f)(m)/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012. The Police also filed the charge sheet against the accused within a month. The Court however considered the accused as guilty only after testifying 13 witnesses and verifying 23 evidence documents. The convict is a father of one daughter and three sons.

Rising number of sexual assaults committed by Maulvis inside mosques-

Of late, there has been a rise in crimes of sexual nature committed inside mosques and madarsas. Recently, a 47-year-old cleric was arrested in Delhi for raping a 10-year-old minor girl inside a mosque. The girl had gone inside the mosque to fetch water at 10 pm. The cleric allegedly stopped her and raped her. An FIR had been registered in the case and the Delhi court had sent the accused to 14-day judicial custody.

Another such case was of a cleric named Zafru in Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi who raped a minor girl inside a mosque and pushed her into the well to die. The incident came to the fore when the 14-year-old victim’s family approached the police station, seven days after the incident. Reportedly, after throwing her into the well, Maulana Zafru fled with his family.

Also, in September last year, the Gurugram Police had lodged an official complaint against another cleric for molesting a 9-year-old minor girl inside a mosque in Pataudi. The Police had booked the accused under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the POCSO Act.

Pakistan creates new ‘Lashkar-e-Khalsa’ terror outfit to spread unrest in Punjab, to recruit Afghans and pro-Khalistan youth

Two days after the bomb blasts in Punjab’s Mohali, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) has warned that Pakistan’s deep state and notorious spy agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI), has created another terrorist group called ‘Lashkar-e-Khalsa’ to spread unrest in India.

According to the reports, the IB has issued a warning saying said that the new group ‘Lashkar-e-Khalsa’ is active on social media and recruiting people to execute its nefarious designs in India. The Pakistan intelligence agency ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) has created a special group to destabilise peace in the country.

“A Pakistani Intelligence Operative using the pseudonym ‘Amar Khalistani’ is actively making efforts to cultivate new recruits through a Facebook ID to plan terrorist activities in the country,” the IB said in its warning.

The IB report also said that they have learnt that ISI is planning to establish this new outfit, namely “Lashkar-E-Khalsa”, to recruit Afghan nationals for terrorist activities in India, especially Jammu and Kashmir.

The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has also re-activated its Kashmir-Khalistan (K2) division to bring pro-Khalistan supporters and anti-India supporters in Kashmir to a common platform. The ISI intends to exploit the sentiments in Punjab and Kashmir with the help of the K2 desk, the report said.

Mohali blasts:

On May 9, Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters located in Mohali was attacked using a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG). The warhead was launched at the HQ just before 8 PM by unidentified persons. The officials said that the projectile penetrated the windows, but it did not explode.

The guards positioned at the gate of the HQ reportedly heard two noises. The first was of the firing, and the second was of the projectile hitting the building. Initial investigation revealed there might be two persons involved who came in a Swift car. The building does not have any CCTV cameras, and the Police are scanning the CCTV footage from nearby areas.

After assessing the ammunition head, it was reported as the RPG-22 codenamed ‘Netto’. It is a one-shot disposable Soviet anti-tank rocket launcher. It propels a 72.5mm fin-stabilised projectile. When required, it can be prepared within 10 seconds. The ammunition can penetrate 1.2 metres of brick, 400mm of armour or 1 metre of reinforced concrete.

It is notable that in the last few months, the Punjab Police and security agencies have recovered explosives in the state on multiple instances. The Khalistani elements are re-emerging in the state. Some experts believe this attack could be a test run for a more serious attack.

Home Ministry, CBI wrath on corrupt officials: Raids at over 40 locations against NGOs and MHA staffers involved in bribery for FCRA clearance

On May 10, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids at 40 locations in multiple cities, including Delhi, Rajasthan, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore and Mysuru and others, based on a tip-off by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The ministry had filed a complaint against its officials and NGOs for committing violations of FCRA provisions and allotting licenses in exchange for bribes.

A CBI spokesperson said the raids were conducted “to nab representatives of NGOs, middlemen and public servants of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) division of MHA for committing violations of FCRA provisions and facilitating illegal clearances in lieu of bribes.”

According to an officer at CBI the accused, including public servants, were caught red-handed while exchanging bribes. The officer said, “Around half a dozen public servants and others are being questioned. During searches so far, transactions of around Rs 2 crore through hawala channels have been found.”

Reports suggest that on March 29, a detailed note was sent to CBI director Subodh Kumar Jaiswal by the home secretary as ordered by Home Minister Amit Shah. As per ANI HM Shah was informed about the alleged violation after which he had asked the officials of MHA to deal with the matter strictly leading to a complaint to CBI by MHA.

In the detailed note, MHA pointed out that there were three FCRA clearance networks allegedly operating hand-in-hand with the government officials. These networks were charging NGOs ‘speed money’ or ‘problem resolution money’ to speed up licensing process and ‘resolve’ issues related to formalities and FCRA clearance.

Reports suggest CBI may put some MHA officials under arrest. An officer was quoted saying, “There are people who have been caught red-handed accepting bribes. If the need arises, people will be arrested.”

The FCRA department of MHA

The FCRA department of MHA is part of the foreigners’ division of the ministry. It grants permission to NGOs to receive foreign funds under the FCRA. The division is responsible for renewing and cancelling the license based on the reports they receive.

At present, there are over 16,800 registered NGOs under FCRA with the MHA. Over 20,000 NGOs have lost their FCRA license in the last decade, out of which 12,500+ NGOs did not file for renewal on time. MHA has tightened the regulations under FCRA to ensure the money is not used for anti-India activities.

Bhopal: 34-year-old Javed Khan, who was in headlines for helping Covid patients, booked for rape

On May 10, a 34-year-old man identified as Javed Khan was booked for rape by Aishbaag Police in Bhopal. Khan had made headlines last year in April for converting his auto into a free ambulance for Covid-19 patients. At that time, he had claimed to have saved at least 15 lives by rushing them to nearby hospitals in the city.

The case against Javed Khan

On Monday, a 27-year-old woman approached Aishbaag Police Station and filed a case against Javed. Station in-charge Manishraj Bhadoria said in a statement that the woman was living at Javed’s house as a tenant with her husband. He used to respect her as an assumed sister. Since they started living at his place, he used to tease her every now and then. Initially, she took it as playful teasing and did not bother.

However, on March 3, when her husband was out for work, Javed came to her room and allegedly raped her. The woman alleged since then, whenever Javed got a chance, he would molest her, and it continued till April 25. She told her husband about what was happening, which resulted in an argument between her husband and Javed. The couple left Javed’s house and got another accommodation.

The woman further said in her complaint that Javed did not stop bothering her. He threatened her with consequences and allegedly pressured her to get physical with him. When she refused, he threatened to defame her. The woman then approached the Police to file a complaint against him.

Based on the complaint, the Police have filed a case under Sections 376(2N) and 506 of the Indian Penal code. As per reports, he has been arrested and would be presented in front of the magistrate.

Javed Khan’s fame as a Covid warrior

In April 2021, when India was struggling with the second wave of Covid-19, Javed Khan turned his auto into a makeshift Ambulance by attaching an oxygen cylinder to it. He claimed to have saved 15 lives during that period. Reports suggest he sold his wife’s necklace to fund the ambulance. Javed Khan has three children, two boys and a girl.
