Mumbai Police denies permission to UP Police, disrupts probe in Mirzapur case as police reach to question Farhan Akhtar

On Thursday, a team of Uttar Pradesh Police, which has reached Mumbai to investigate a case filed against the makers of the web series ‘Mirzapur’ has complained that they have been denied the requisite permission by the Mumbai police.

A three-member team of UP Police has been probing a case filed in the Kotwali Dehat police station of Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Following their arrival in Mumbai, they have accused the Mumbai Police of not co-operating in the investigation process. The UP Police team informed that whenever they visited the Crime Branch office in Andheri, the nodal officer aka DCP would remain unavailable. As such, they failed to get the necessary permission, required to proceed with the investigation.

The UP team then went to the Khar police station and visited the residence of actor Farhan actor in Khar West. They were also accompanied by a Mumbai police constable. On learning about the development, the Mumbai police swung into action. Reportedly, a senior IPS officer instructed the local DCP who in turn asked another senior official at the Khar police station to intervene. Far from cooperating, the Mumbai police reached the actor’s house, asked the UP police team to ‘leave immediately’ and return only after taking the required permission.

FIR registered against Mirzapur for hurting religious sentiments

A team of Uttar Pradesh police arrived in Mumbai to investigate the FIR against ‘Mirzapur’ on Thursday. The case was lodged, following a complaint by one Arvind Chaturvedi, who said that the web series hurt his religious sentiments, displayed abusive content, promoted enmity in the society and presented the district of Mirzapur in poor light.

Reportedly, the First Information Report was registered against Farhan Akhtar, Bhaumik Gondaliya and Ritesh Sidhwani. The Uttar Pradesh police booked the trio under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 295A (deliberate attempt to outrage religious sentiments), 504 (insult with an intention to breach peace), 505 (public mischief) and relevant sections of the IT Act.

SC issues notice to makers of Mirzapur

The Supreme Court has sent a notice and sought responses from the makers of the web series and the OTT platform, on a plea complaining over the portrayal of Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district in a bad light. The petition was filed by one Noida-based lawyer SK Kumar, a resident of the Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Kumar accused the makers of “maligning the image of Uttar Pradesh”. He said that Mirzapur has been depicted “as a den of terror and illegal activities”.

The petitioner also raised strong objection to the distasteful portrayal of women in the web series. The series showed a woman hailing from the district having a sexual relationship with the servant and her father-in-law as well. “By showing such ridicules and shameless things on the name of a city district is the insult of approximately 30 lakh population and rich culture of Mirzapur,” added the plea.

The show’s first season was launched on Amazon Prime Video on November 16, 2018. The web series depicts the putrescence and rule of mafia dons, and the rivalry and crime prevailing in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. Its second season was released in October last year.

Twitter refused to take down child porn because ‘it did not violate company policy’, sued by sex trafficking victim

Social media giant Twitter, which has been arbitrarily censoring social media users for expressing their views, has now caught up in another controversy after it allegedly refused to take down widely shared pornographic images and videos of a child sex trafficking victim. Twitter has claimed that the images and videos of the child sex trafficking victim do not violate its company policies.

According to a report in New York Post, a now 17-year-old teen ‘John Doe’, living in Florida currently, had filed a lawsuit filed accusing Twitter of allowing the video of his abuse, filmed when he was 13 years old to accumulate hundreds of thousands of views and thus profiting from it.

The federal lawsuit, filed on Wednesday by the victim and his mother in the Northern District of California, alleged that Twitter made money by circulating porn clips, which showed a 13-year-old engaged in sex acts, basically child pornography.

The teen alleged that a few years back, sex traffickers, posing as a 16-year-old female classmate had lured him for a chat on Snapchat. He said that he had allegedly exchanged nude photos with the sex traffickers before the conversation turned to blackmail. The traffickers had allegedly warned the teen about sending the images to his “parents, coach, pastor” and others if he did not share more sexually graphic photos and videos.

Acting under duress, the teen initially complied and sent videos of himself performing sex acts. The traffickers had also forced the boy to include another child in his videos, which he did, the suit said.

Eventually, the boy blocked the traffickers, and they stopped harassing him, but at some point in 2019, the videos surfaced on Twitter under two accounts that were known to share child sexual abuse material, court papers allege.

Child sex porn videos circulated on Twitter, officials do not remove content

Months later, as alleged in the lawsuit, the videos began to circulate on social media platforms. The videos and photos have been ‘reported’ to Twitter at least 3 times, first on December 25, 2019. However, the tech giant failed to do anything about it until a federal law enforcement officer got involved, the suit states.

Reportedly, Doe got to know about the videos last year in January 2020 after his classmates teased, harassed and carried out vicious bullying that led him to become “suicidal”.

The boy’s parents contacted the school and made police reports and filed a complaint with Twitter, saying there were two tweets depicting child pornography and demanded that they be removed because they were illegal, harmful, and violate the site’s policies.

However, the micro-blogging site did not respond for a week, the family said. Around the same time, the victim’s mother also filed two complaints to Twitter, and she also received no response, the suit states.

On January 28, Twitter finally replied to the victim and said they would not be taking down the material, which had already been watched by more than 167,000 users and retweeted over 2,223 times, the suit states. The micro-blogging site said that they did not find a violation of the company’s ‘policies’ after their investigation, the lawsuit alleges.

“Thanks for reaching out. We’ve reviewed the content, and didn’t find a violation of our policies, so no action will be taken at this time,” Twitter responded to the victim.

Twitter further wrote, “If you believe there’s a potential copyright infringement, please start a new report. If the content is hosted on a third-party website, you’ll need to contact that website’s support team to report it. Your safety is the most important thing, and if you believe you are in danger, we encourage you to contact your local authorities.”

Twitter removes content after intervention from Homeland security officials

The careless response from Twitter officials has shocked the minor victim, who has now shot another letter to the social media giant asking them to take down the appalling videos.

“What do you mean you don’t see a problem? We both are minors right now and were minors at the time these videos were taken. We both were 13 years of age. We were baited, harassed, and threatened to take these videos that are now being posted without our permission. We did not authorize these videos AT ALL, and they need to be taken down,” the teen wrote back to Twitter.

The victim has even cited his case from a local law enforcement agency, but still, the tech-giant ignored him and did not initiate any action against the illegal child sexual abuse material even as it continued to get shared on its platform.

The victim’s family later filed a complaint with an agent from the Department of Homeland Security, who then forced the micro-blogging site to remove the content, the suit states.

“Only after this take-down demand from a federal agent did Twitter suspend the user accounts that were distributing the CSAM and report the CSAM to the National Center on Missing and Exploited Children,” stated the suit, filed by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation on behalf of the victim.

The suit said that the response from Twitter is directly in contrast to what their automated reply message and User Agreement claims to say what they will do to protect children.”

The disturbing lawsuit exposes how Twitter knowingly hosts sexual predators on its platform and allows illegal child porn networks to flourish, using the platform to exchange child porn material and profits.

Meanwhile, Twitter, which has been at the receiving end of the massive criticism for censuring social media users for expressing their views, has replied to a query sent by New York Post saying, “Twitter has zero-tolerance for any material that features or promotes child sexual exploitation. We aggressively fight online child sexual abuse and have heavily invested in technology and tools to enforce our policy”.

“Our dedicated teams work to stay ahead of bad-faith actors and to ensure we’re doing everything we can to remove content, facilitate investigations, and protect minors from harm — both on and offline,” it claimed.

Members linked to George Soros and Muslim Brotherhood to now decide the fate of Donald Trump’s Facebook account: Details

Soon after the US Presidential Elections that several in America believe were rigged, supporters of former President Donald Trump had swarmed the Capitol Hill building to protest against the perceived injustice. While the violence raged on, tech-giants, Twitter and Facebook, had suspended the account of Donald Trump assuming that the then sitting President of the United States of America should not speak to the people because in they ‘believed’ he might insight violence.

While Twitter has shown no inclination thus far to unsuspend Donald Trump’s account, Facebook has announced that they are now referring their decision to permanently suspend Trump’s account to their ‘oversight board’. Facebook had recently announced the formation of an ‘independent’ oversight board to regulate content on its platform and determine whether posts violate the platform’s norms on nudity, hate speech and insensitivity. According to Facebook, even Mark Zuckerberg cannot overturn the decision of the oversight board, formulated to take decisions on their toughest content issues.

In their announcement Facebook said that they believe their decision is “necessary and right”. However, since this was a decision of great significance, they have sent it to the oversight board to take the final call.

“While we await the board’s decision, Mr. Trump’s access will remain suspended indefinitely. We look forward to receiving the board’s decision — and we hope, given the clear justification for our actions on January 7, that it will uphold the choices we made. In addition to the board’s determination on whether to uphold or overturn the indefinite suspension, Facebook welcomes any observations or recommendations from the board around suspensions when the user is a political leader”, Facebook said in their announcement.

Further, Facebook agreed that while they believe their decision was correct in the light of the Capitol Hill violence, they also believe that the criticism about big-tech wielding too much power was justified and hence, they have forwarded their decision to the ‘oversight board’ to take the final call.

“Whether you believe the decision was justified or not, many people are understandably uncomfortable with the idea that tech companies have the power to ban elected leaders. Many argue private companies like Facebook shouldn’t be making these big decisions on their own. We agree. Every day, Facebook makes decisions about whether content is harmful, and these decisions are made according to Community Standards we have developed over many years. It would be better if these decisions were made according to frameworks agreed by democratically accountable lawmakers. But in the absence of such laws, there are decisions that we cannot duck. This is why we established the Oversight Board. It is the first body of its kind in the world: an expert-led independent organization with the power to impose binding decisions on a private social media company. Its decision will be available at the board’s website when it is issued”, said Facebook.

Is the oversight board, now deciding on the account of Donald Trump, really ‘independent’, as claimed by Facebook? Here is the George Soros and Muslim Brotherhood link

An investigation by Sharyl Atkinson of RealClearInvestigations in September 2020 had revealed that 18 of the 20 members of the oversight board by Facebook has ties to liberal billionaire George Soros. Earlier this year, George Soros had declared war against nationalists and nationalism, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and even Donald Trump.

The investigation revealed that 90 per cent of the board’s members “collaborated with or are tied to groups that have received funding from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations.”

Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Prime Minister of Denmark, Catalina Botero-Marino, Afia Asantewaa Asare-Kyei and Sudhir Krishnaswamy are some of the members on the oversight board with ties to George Soros. Other members with links to the liberal billionaire include Ronaldo Lemos, Michael McConnell, Alan Rusbridger and Andas Sajo.

The links to George Soros and the overwhelming pattern here is not enough.

It was also revealed and covered by OpIndia in great detail, that one of the members of the Facebook Oversight Board is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist outfit banned in multiple Arab and Western countries, in addition to being a Nobel Peace Laureate. The Nobel Peace Prize does not carry much meaning at this point given the fact that Barack Obama, another winner, went on to bomb Libya into slavery apart from plunging the entire Middle-East into further chaos.

According to the report, Tawakkol Karman was formerly a member of the Islamist Yemeni Islah Party (YIP) that was backed by the Muslim Brotherhood. She called the MB “one of the victims of official tyranny and terrorism in the region.” The MB acknowledged their ties with her and proudly congratulated her after she won the Nobel Peace Prize.

Lucknow: Blood-soaked body of Hindu priest found inside temple, investigation on

In a tragic incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the body of a Hindu priest was found lying in a pool of blood inside a temple. According to reports, an octogenarian priest of a temple located in BKT police station area of Lucknow rural was found dead on Wednesday. The priest has injury marks on his head, as per the police.

No theft at the temple

Superintendent of Police, Lucknow Rural, Hirdesh Kumar said that the blood-soaked body of the priest was found lying in his hut inside the temple premises. The temple is located in Shivpuri village on the outskirts of Lucknow. The priest has been identified as Fakire Das. No signs of theft have been found at the scene as told by the police. “There are no signs of theft and his belongings as well as cash kept in the donation box of the temple have not been stolen”, said SP Kumar. The priest was reportedly from Sultanpur. An investigation has been initiated in the case.

Police investigating old enmity or dispute angle

Circle Officer (CO) of Bakshi Ka Talab police station, Hiridesh Katheria reportedly said that the priest had been staying alone in the temple for last few years. He said that preliminary investigation in the case has suggested that personal enmity could be a reason behind that death of the priest. The police have approached his family to find out if there was any old dispute or motive behind his killing. The body has been sent for post-mortem after registering an FIR for murder against unidentified persons.

Frequent attacks on Hindu priests

Killings of Hindu priests have become frequent these days. Last year in October, a Hindu priest named Babulal Vaishnav was set ablaze in the Bokna village, Sapotra division of Karauli district of Rajasthan by some people who wanted to encroach temple land. The same year in September, three priests of Arkeshwara temple in Mandya, Karnataka were brutally killed by unknown miscreants. In July last year, a temple priest named Kanti Prasad was brutally murdered by a man named Anas Qureshi in Meerut’s Abdullapur.

Rajdeep Sardesai ‘baffled’ by India Today survey that shows Modi govt winning a sweeping majority if elections held today: Details

Yesterday, India Today published the results of their biennial ‘Mood of The Nation’ poll, the first one in 2021. The results are ‘surprising’ for many so-called ‘secular-liberal’ media persons who were probably hoping that the pandemic and subsequent economic hardships will perhaps make Indians ‘hate’ the Modi government.

Almost a year after the Chinese pandemic stuck the country, the India Today-Karvy Insights had carried out their biennial ‘Mood of the Nation’ poll. The poll, published on Thursday, comes just after Chinese pandemic that has struck the country, it was revealed how Indians have expressed their resounding satisfaction with the performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India Today-Karvy Insights ‘Mood of the Nation’ Survey:

According to the India Today-Karvy Insights Mood of the Nation poll, almost three-fourth of the citizens of the country who participated in the survey were happy about the Modi government’s handling of the economic crisis. The MOTN survey has found that 73 per cent of Indians are satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s handling of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.

The survey said that 23% of respondents said it was outstanding, while 50% found it good. In terms of approval ratings, PM Modi seems to enjoy the approval of 74% Indians, only a marginal dip from the 78% found in August 2020 survey.

According to MOTN survey, PM Modi’s approval ratings at 74 per cent is only a marginal dip from the 78 per cent he enjoyed in the August 2020 edition of the Mood of The Nation poll.

Two-thirds of the respondent satisfied with Modi govt’s handling of economic crisis

The MOTN survey said that as many as 67 per cent of Indians are satisfied with the way the central government handled the economic distress caused by the pandemic. Twenty per cent of respondents called it outstanding, while 47 per cent said it was good.

The MOTN poll also said that 66 per cent of the respondents said that incomes decreased due to the pandemic, while 19 per cent said they lost jobs.

The survey also predicted that if elections were to be held today, the BJP would return back to power with a huge margin. The Mood of the Nation poll shows that the BJP would win 291 seats – eight more than what it had got in the August 2020 edition of the Mood of the Nation poll. As per the latest MOTN survey, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would win 321 seats, up from 316 predicted in August.

Amit Shah the best minister, says survey

The MOTN survey has pegged Home Minister Amit Shah as the best performing minister in the Modi government. 39% of the Surve participants have voted in Shah’s favour. He is followed by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh at 17% and Nitin Gadkari at the fourth position at 10%,

Rajdeep Sardesai ‘baffled’ by high ratings that the Modi government got in his own survey

As India Today published these above numbers on his show on Thursday, Rajdeep Sardesai appeared shocked.

Taking to Twitter, Rajdeep Sardesai said it was rather ‘baffling’ for him to believe what the poll says about the MOTN survey that gives a resounding appreciation to the Modi government for the way it handled the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent economic fallout.

Commenting on the survey, Rajdeep Sardesai said that he was ‘baffled’ to believe the survey because it says that more than two-thirds of the people are applauding the government for handling the economic crisis that came as the fallout of the lockdown despite nearly 85 per cent of them have lost their livelihood opportunities.

“Let’s be very clear. Income decreased 66 % during COVID times, 19 % say they lost jobs. And yet this poll suggests that people are applauding the government for saving lives, are worried about the livelihood but at the same time, they are not willing to say that centre mishandled. I still do not have a rational explanation,” said Rajdeep Sardesai in his show.

Here is the truth about the images where medical officers from Karnataka were seen ‘faking’ Coronavirus vaccination for a picture

On Thursday, Congress MP Manickam Tagore had decided to peddle fake news to defame the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at the expense of Coronavirus frontline workers. He had retweeted a video of two medical officers being vaccinated in Tumakuru in Karnataka and insinuated that they were doing a photo op for the camera.

In the viral video, two medical officers, namely Dr Rajani and Dr Nagendrappa were seen posing for the pictures during the vaccination drive. In the first part of the video, Dr Rajani was seen sitting on a chair who then stood up as the nurse was about to administer the vaccine. Similarly, in the second part of the video, the nurse who administered the vaccine to Dr Nagendrappa was seen withdrawing immediately after the photo was taken.

“RSS & BJP ruled Karnataka… Kar Natak RSSwale”, the Congress leader further alleged that it was being done on the behest of the BJP and the RSS. The video was originally shared by an ‘independent’ journalist named Sonia Arunkumar. Several other users on social media also claimed that the two medical officers seen in the video were ‘faking’ vaccination for the camera.

Other Congress leaders, who are famed to be low IQ also jumped on to the bandwagon and started questioning if the Modi government was holding fake immunisation drive.

Karnataka Health Department debunks claims of ‘fake vaccination’ drive

While speaking about the incident, Dr Nagendrappa said, “This is not true at all. I found out about this when people began demanding our resignation. We did not do anything wrong.” After the false claims went viral on social media, the Karnataka Health Department took to Twitter to issue a clarification.

Dr Rajani, the woman seen in the video, is the Principal of the Government Medical College in Tumakuru in Karnataka. She was one of the first frontline workers to have been vaccinated with Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin on January 16. “I have seen videos trolling my vaccination. I want to clarify that I have taken the vaccine on 16th itself. My name was registered on the portal. In fact, my office was a vaccination centre”

“….Afterwards, when I was taking the vaccine and was about to get up, several media persons and individuals with mobile cameras requested for visuals,” Dr Rajani informed. She said that she, therefore, sat again on her chair and stood up only when she felt that the pictures have been taken. Dr Rajani further urged people to not resort to rumour-mongering, in these challenging times. She emphasised that the Coronavirus vaccine is safe and asked social media users to put out a good message to the society.

She was not pretending to take the vaccine, say cops

The misleading claims made on social media was also debunked by the Deputy Commissioner (Tumakuru) Dr Rakesh Kumar. He reiterated, “This is clearly a misunderstanding. Dr Rajani had been given the first dose of the vaccine on January 16. The press reporters had not got visuals of the vaccine being injected and asked her to pose for the pictures, which is what she did. She was not pretending to take the vaccine.”

After the Modi government announced a nationwide vaccination drive, starting with healthcare workers, miscreants on social media have been peddling fake news to discredit the government and undermine the fight against Coronavirus.

“BJP will ban burqa, beard, skullcap, azan”, says AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal after forming alliance with Congress and Left to defeat ‘communal BJP’ in Assam

Just a day after Congress and the left parties formed an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) to defeat ‘communal’ BJP in the upcoming assembly elections in Assam, Ajmal removed the mask of secularism to reveal his true face. Ajmal gave a highly provocative and communal speech in Dhubri.

On Wednesday, addressing a rally in Gauripur in Dhubri district in Assam, the AIUDF chief tried to create fear among Muslims against the BJP by making some highly provocative remarks. He alleged that if BJP comes to power in the state again, it will destroy mosques, and put several restrictions on Muslims of the state. He said, “BJP is out enemy, the country’s enemy, India’s enemy, women’s enemy, enemy of mosques, enemy of beards, enemy of talaq, enemy of Babri Masjid”.

Badruddin Ajmal went on saying, “Will you vote a party like this? Now you need to be more careful. If you are not careful, then if BJP forms government in Assam again you won’t be allowed to come out wearing burqa, you won’t be able to come out of home with beard on the face, you won’t be allowed to wear a skullcap, you won’t be allowed to chant azan in mosques, we will be able to live in a place like this?”

Making further communally provocative remarks, the Lok Sabha MP said that BJP is made several mosques in Assam its target. He alleged that BJP has listed 3,500 mosques across the country, and if BJP comes to power again at the centre, the govt will demolish these mosques. ‘Modi govt abolished the process of triple talaq, constructed a temple by demolishing Babri Masjid’, Ajmal said in his speech.

The highly communal speech by Badruddin Ajmal came just two days after AIDUF, Congress, CPI, CPI (M), CPI (ML) and Anchalik Gana Morcha formed an alliance in an attempt to “save Assam” by defeating the Sarbananda Sonowal led NDA government.

Fact Check: Did the US State Department remove Fact Sheet on Coronavirus and China after Biden administration took over

On January 15, the Department of State, United States, had published a Fact Sheet on the activity at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. In the report, the department under Michael R. Pompeo alleged that the virus might have originated in the said lab and demanded a thorough probe.

The sheet alleged that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has systematically prevented a transparent and thorough investigation of the COVID-19 pandemic’s origin, choosing instead to devote enormous resources to deceit and disinformation for over a year. It further added that the U.S. government does not know how the virus was initially transmitted to humans.

The case of the broken link

As Biden’s administration took control of the Departments under the United States Government, including the Department of State, people noticed some changes in the website’s structure and Twitter handles. One change that a few social media users noticed that the link to the above-mentioned report was missing. The URL of the page now takes the visitor to a broken link page showing a 404 error.

Error page that appears when someone tries to visit old link

The alleged removal of the link made netizens curious if the new administration is trying to hide something about the coronavirus spread that originated from Wuhan, China. As Biden has hinted that he will try to alleviate the trade war between the U.S. and China, speculations may arise that removing fact sheet demanding probe may be part of the future policies.

Netizens questioned about removal of the report
Netizens questioned about removal of the report

Where is the fact sheet anyway?

It has to be noted that every time administration changes hands in the United States, all reports, press releases etc., by the old administration are archived. A message now appears on the 404 error page that the pages related to old administration can be found on a sub-domain.

Therefore, the fact sheet has not been removed by the new administration. The page has been moved to the archive site of the state department for 2017-2011. The Fact Sheet is now available on this link.

The previous administrations took similar steps. Archives dating back to 1997 can be found on the U.S. Department of State Archive Websites, and older snapshots are available at the Library of Congress Web Archives Collection.

The archive websites on Department of State dates back to 1997.

Verdict: No, the U.S. Department of States DID NOT remove the Fact Sheet on the origin of Covid-19 from its website, it was only archived.

AIMIM’s West Bengal ally Islamic cleric Peerzada Abbas Siddiqui launches ‘secular’ party to contest West Bengal Assembly polls

In what could be seen as fresh trouble for TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, Islamic cleric Peerzada Abbas Siddiqui has floated a new ‘secular’ political party in Kolkata today. The launch comes ahead of the upcoming Bengal Assembly polls. Speculation surrounding whether Siddique would contest individually or join any existing political party had been circulating for the past month. Now putting all speculations to rest, the Muslim cleric finally floated his own new party- The Indian Secular Front (ISF).

It is pertinent to note here that for the last few months it was being speculated that Siddiqui is planning to enter politics and that Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will be allying with Siddiqui’s group in the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal. AIMIM will contest elections in the state for the first time, and it will be benefited by the existing grassroots support that Siddiqui enjoys.

Meanwhile, confirming that his newly launched ‘secular’ political outfit might contest state elections from all 294 Assembly seats, the Islamic cleric said at the launch of his political outfit at Kolkata Press Club: “We have formed this party to ensure that constitutional democracy is protected, everybody gets social justice and all of us live with dignity.” Heaping praises for AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Siddiqui said that he met Owaisi who has assured him his support.

With this, the predicaments of Mamata Banerjee, who is already trying to deal with the new saffron wave in the state, will only increase. For years Mamata Banerjee has been thriving in West Bengal by appeasing her Muslim vote bank. Now, if a predominantly Muslim political outfit joins the fray, it is only obvious, that in all likeliness, it will consolidate the Muslims electorally, which means fresh trouble for the incumbent Trinamool Congress in the state of West Bengal.

The controversial Islamic cleric Peerzada Abbas Siddiqui

For the uninitiated, the Islamic cleric Peerzada Abbas Siddiqui is the same cleric who had recently made some bizarre claims. He had said that the Muslims constitute the majority in the State of West Bengal. He claimed that Adivasis, Matuas and Dalits do not fall into the Hindu fold.

Speaking at a rally in November last year, Siddiqui had tried to spread panic by saying things like: “If we do not come to power next time, they (Hindus) will rape our women in front of our eyes. Do you understand? You cannot do anything if you do not have power in your hands.”

The Islamic cleric had also courted controversy after he had demanded a virus from Allah that could kill 50 crore people in India in one go.

Earlier, Abbas Siddiqui had threatened to block Kolkata airport if the Citizenship (Amendment) Act is not revoked.

Gujarat Forest Dept to take legal action against Christian Evangelist Paul Dhinakaran over unauthorised use of the department’s logo

The Gujarat forest department has taken to Twitter to inform that it will be taking legal action against the controversial Christian Evangelist Paul Dhinakaran for unlawfully using the forest department logo on the web page of his organisation SEESHA (Samiti for Education, Environment, Social and Health Action). Taking to its official Twitter handle, the forest department clarified that it is in no way associated with this organisation named ‘SEESHA’. The clarification was issued after concerns about the same were raised on social media.

Tagging the Gujarat CM’s office, PMO, IPS Nageshwar Rao and the Additional Chief Secretary of Forest and Environment Deptt Dr Rajiv Kumar Gupta, the Gujarat forest department Tweeted: “Gujarat Forest is not associated with any org.”SEESHA”. We have nothing to do with Paul Dinakaran or his associate. Misunderstanding if any is clarified. Unauthorized use of Dept. logo on SEESHA webpage being dealt with legally”.

The Forest Department’s Tweet came in response to a Tweet by M Nageswara Rao, who is a serving senior IPS officer in the Government of India.

Rao had shared the Tweet by one social media user @Mahakrish, who was the first person to share a screenshot of the web page of this organisation owned by Paul Dhinakaran, with a fallacious claim that the “Forest department of Gujarat is associating with SEESHA in working with the tribal communities in the State as well as for conserving of the forest cover”. Rao raised an alert by tagging the Gujarat Forest Department, Gujarat CMO and the CM of the state to his Tweet.

IT raids at 28 locations belonging to Christian Evangelist Paul Dhinakaran

For the uninitiated, yesterday, the Income Tax department had carried out raids at 28 locations in Chennai, Coimbatore and other places connected to controversial Christian Evangelist Paul Dhinakaran and his Christian missionary organisation ‘Jesus Calls’. This missionary organisation run by Evangelist Paul Dhinakaran preaches Christianity across Tamil Nadu.

The IT raids were conducted based on complaints of tax evasion and foreign funds irregularities against Dhinakaran and ‘Jesus Calls’.

Paul Dhinakaran, who is the son of the late televangelist DGS Dhinakaran, has a large follower base among Christians in Tamil Nadu and runs several organisations.
