Ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala in a freewheeling interview with Shekhar Gupta pulled no punches in answering the questions ranging from the current boom in the capital markets, the forced religious conversion by Islam and Christianity, expectations from the upcoming budget and his continued optimism in the Indian economy.

Jhunjhunwala, in his characteristic unapologetic manner, stated that he is a liberal at heart and has no opinion on other people’s religion or thought unless it infringes upon other people’s lives. He said that he has a problem with religious conversions by Islam and Christianity and when they term the majority as cowards.

“I don’t have an opinion on other people’s religion, or their thoughts unless they infringe upon other people’s lives or Freedom of Thought…I have a problem if Islam and Catholicism preaches conversion,” Jhunjhunwala said.

He further elaborated, “Whether one is a bhakt of Krishna or a bhakt of Allah, I don’t mind at all. The problem is when you start forcing others to become a bhakt of Allah and leave Krishna, I object to that. I don’t want you to become a bhakt of Krishna and I don’t want you to make me or others bhakt of Allah. I don’t have thoughts or problems with what your culture is, but if you say we are kayars(cowards), I won’t accept it.”

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala’s comments comes at a time when the ‘liberals’ of the country have been going hammer and tongs against several states passing laws against Grooming Jihad and forced conversion. The ‘liberals’ have gone far enough to even justify pedophilia in their quest to justify Muslim men abducting and forcefully converting Hindu women to Islam.

Speaking on the continuing farmer agitation, the ace investor stated that the ongoing demonstration is an example that changes in India are hard to bring about.

Jhunjhunwala claimed that the renowned agriculture economist Ashok Gulati and Raghu Ram Rajan had advocated the same farm laws in the past, which they are now criticising. “Does Raghu Ram Rajan has one good word for what India has done in the last 5 years? I want to take him up. He keeps criticising the government,” Jhunjhunwala said.

Speaking on the current stock market rally, Jhunjhunwala stated that the greatest bull market India would witness is ahead of us and not behind, adding it is time to invest in the markets and not withdraw from them.

The BSE, for the first time in the history, touched the 50,000 mark on Thursday. The big bull of the Indian stock markets advised investors to carry out their own due diligence before investing in the market, instead of relying on borrowed knowledge from others.

Jhunjhunwala also spoke on the market anomaly when asked why the markets are hitting an all-time high even as the economy is contracting.

“If the market was to act exactly as per economic indicators, economists would have been the richest. And if I had listened to the economists, I would’ve been a poor man today,” he said.

The ace investor predicted that within 25 years, India would surpass China in terms of growth and economy. He said several advantageous factors would pull India ahead in the race and at the same time some factors going against China will pull them back.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala expects no taxes in the upcoming fiscal budget

With respect to the upcoming fiscal budget, Jhunjhunwala advised the government to be bold and not impose taxes until the growth returns. He said, “In the budget, I expect that there will be no taxes, a substantial increase in expenditure and a 6.5 to 7 per cent fiscal deficit.”

The budget 2021-2022 would be the first budget since the coronavirus pandemic induced lockdown cratered the economy, forcing it to shrink instead of expansion. It will need substantial filip through the budget to revive the economy and increase public consumption demand.

Jhunjhunwala says he expects the economy to contact by 7 per cent in the current fiscal year and recover to grow at 10 per cent in 2021-22 and then gradually rising to hit the double digit growth mark.

“I think we’ll grow -7 per cent this year… next year we’ll grow at 10 per cent and within three-four years, I see double digit growth for India,” he said.

Towards the end of the interview, Jhunjhunwala threw a curveball at the host Shekhar Gupta when he asked him to answer his views on the country’s economic prospects and the current government’s contribution to the economy.

Gupta applauded government for bringing in 4-5 reforms such as Bankruptcy laws, the push to privatise a few PSUs, e-assessment of the Income Tax returns, controlling the fiscal deficit and inflation among other things. Gupta also added that the government’s decision to continue raising excise on fuel was a good idea.

However, he added that sudden shocks such as the demonetisation move was a wrong move and stated that the recent focus on protectionism in form of self-reliance or aatmanirbhar would give impetus for people to become non-competitive.

Interestingly, almost every issue that the ‘liberal’ intelligentsia has been harping about, from the anti-conversion law, to the downswing in the economy due to the pandemic, to target the Modi government, was aptly decimated by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. That it was on Shekhar Gupta’s The Print which is a part of the ‘liberal’ bandwagon, perhaps hurt the cabal just a little more.

Speaking at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday, India slammed Pakistan for the recent attack on an ancient Hindu temple in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Urging the United Nations to take a neutral stand regarding the safeguarding of religious sites across the world, India pointed out the irony that Pakistan is one of the co-sponsors of the resolution on promoting culture and safeguarding religious sites.

“It is a matter of great irony that the country where the most recent attack and demolition of a Hindu temple took place in a series of such attacks and where the rights of minorities are being emasculated is one of the co-sponsors of the resolution under the agenda item ‘Culture of Peace’. The resolution cannot be smokescreen for countries like Pakistan to hide behind”, India said at the UN.

On Thursday the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on ‘Promoting a culture of peace and tolerance to safeguard religious sites’. The resolution calls for strengthened international efforts to foster a global dialogue on the promotion of a culture of tolerance and peace at all levels, based on respect for human rights and for the diversity of religions and beliefs.

“In world of growing terrorism, violent extremism, radicalisation and intolerance, religious sites and cultural heritage sites remain vulnerable to terror acts and destruction”, India said at the adoption of Resolution on Promoting Culture of Peace and Tolerance to Safeguard Religious Sites.

Indian ambassador to the UN, TS Tirumurti highlighted the incidents where religious sites were attacked in Pakistan. “The images of shattering of the iconic Bamyan Buddha by fundamentalists are still vivid in our memories. The terrorist bombing of the Sikh gurudwara in Afghanistan where 25 Sikh worshipers were killed is yet another example of this vulnerability. Most recently, in December 2020, a historic Hindu temple was attacked and set on fire by a mob in the town of Karak in Pakistan with explicit support and connivance with the law enforcement agencies which, stood as mute spectators while the historic temple was being razed”, said Tirumurti. Tiumurti highlighted that India has a stringent legal framework to deal with violence and discrimination based on religion in the form of Places of Worship (Special Provisions) Act, 1991.

Appealing for the conduct of an impartial discussion on the issue of religion India said, “India reiterates its call for the application of the principles of objectivity, non-selectivity and impartiality to form the basis of discussions in the United Nations especially on the issue of religion. The United Nations including the UN Alliance of Civilisaions should not take sides and as long as such selectivity exists, the world can never truly foster a culture of peace. We must stand united against the forces that supplant dialogue and peace with hatred and violence”.

Terming India’s mention of attacks on religious sites in Pakistan as ‘unwarranted assertions’, Pakistan rejected India’s claims against it.

The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has decided to take action against those spreading ‘offensive, misleading and/or threatening social media posts’ against any government officials. Nayyar Hasnain Khan, the state ADG of Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) and Cybercrime division, the nodal point for such crimes informed that such crimes would be brought under the category of cybercrime.

Bihar ADG Nayyar Hasnain Khan wrote a letter to all secretaries of the state government, which read: “It has come to light that certain persons and organisations have been making defamatory and offensive comments on social media against the government, respected ministers, parliamentarians, legislators, and government officials. This is against prescribed law and comes under the category of cybercrime,” wrote Khan, requesting all officials to inform the Economic Offences Wing about such acts so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice.

Responding to IG Khan’s letter, Bihar leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav slammed Nitish Kumar Government for its decision. He called the chief minister the “Bheeshm Pitamah” of the corrupt and the “protector of criminals”. He said that the CM himself is involved in at least 60 scams. The RJD leader then tweeted, daring the state government to arrest him for his post.

It is pertinent to note here that the Kerala Government had on November 22 last year, decided to amend the existing Kerala Police Act and incorporate a new section under which those found guilty of spreading offensive and threatening social media posts would be punished with a 5 years imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine. However, in less than 24 hours, the Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan had taken a U-turn and said that the controversial Section 118A of the Kerala Police Act will not be implemented.

In a major development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a criminal case against UK-based political consulting firm Cambridge Analytica for illegally harvesting the data of 5.62 lakh Facebook users in India.

As per reports, a preliminary inquiry in the data theft case has revealed that another firm named Global Science Research Limited had created an app titled, ‘thisisyourdigitallife’ to collect data from Facebook users in the country. The app had authorisation from Facebook itself to gather specific datasets from users for supposed ‘research and academic purposes’.

Reportedly, Global Science Research Limited then shared the user data with Cambridge Analytica, thereby allowing its use for commercial purposes. Although Facebook has claimed to have destroyed the data collected by the two firms in 2016-2017, the CBI investigation did not find any evidence to support these claims. As such, a case has also been registered against Global Science Research Limited for data piracy.

Back in 2018, the central investigative agency had initiated an inquiry into the data theft case. IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has stated in July 2018 that a CBI probe will be initiated in the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica case. Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, had earlier admitted that the Facebook data of 8.7 crores was shared with Cambridge Analytica.

Following the revelation, the IT Ministry wrote letters to Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, seeking clarification on the allegations of data theft. The role of the UK-based firm came under the scanner, post the 2016 US Presidential elections. The company had claimed to have worked in India to secure victory in the Bihar State Assembly elections of 2010.

The Congress party has been in denial mode over its alleged hiring of CA and the allegations of using voter’s personal data to expose social and demographical fault lines to strategize its poll campaign. But several shreds of evidence have emerged showing that it has been in business with the firm.

Earlier, an image of a poster with the Congress symbol hanging in Cambridge Analytica’s office has raised eyebrows of political observers in India. The image has led to heated debates on Indian TV channels on Congress link to Cambridge Analytica. In an interview to Barkha Dutt, the Congress social media chief Divya Spandana/Ramya has claimed that Cambridge Analytica approached the Congress party’s leaders with some proposals but it was never given a contract/deal.

Arrest warrant issued against journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta in a defamation case filed by the Adani Group: Details

An arrest warrant has been issued by a Gujarat court against journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta in relation to a defamation case filed against him by the Adani Group. The warrant was issued by the court in Kutch district on Tuesday. As reported in Live Law, Judicial Magistrate Pradeep Soni passed an order directing the Nizamuddin police station in Delhi to arrest Thakurta who is charged under section 500 of the Indian Penal Code and to produce him before the court.

Thakurta reportedly expressed ignorance about the order and directed queries to his lawyer Anand Yagnik. Yagnik said that his client did not receive any information from the court and that they came to know about this from media. He told that Adani Group had withdrawn complaints against everyone except Thakurta. “The magazine (which published the article) is not responsible (for criminal defamation), the case against co-author has been withdrawn but you don’t withdraw the complaint against the author. We have moved a discharge application”, said Yagnik.

Thakurta alleged in the article that Modi government ‘tweaked rules’ for the benefit of the Adani Group

The defamation suit was filed by Adani Group against Thakurta for an article co-authored by him June 2017 when he was the Editor of Economical and Political Weekly (EPW). In the article, Thakurta reportedly alleged that Modi government tweaked special economic zone rules that provided a benefit to Adani group to the tunes of Rs 500 crore. The article was first published in EPW, however, it was later taken down by Sameeksha Trust that runs EPW after Adani group sent legal notice to publications asking them to take down the article claiming it to be defamatory. Thakurta had then resigned from EPW and had later published the article in The Wire.

The Adani Group filed a case against the Wire for republishing the article

Refusing to comply with the notice, the Wire republished the article following which Adani group moved court seeking injunction. The group filed two defamation suits against the authors and editors of the Wire in two different courts in Gujarat: a civil defamation suit in Bhuj and a criminal defamation suit in Mundra.

In July 2018, the criminal defamation suit was set aside by the court. In May 2019, the Adani Group withdrew the case against the Wire and all other accused except Thakurta.

Thakurta was reportedly required to appear before the magistrate when the courts opened on 18 January. His lawyer had informed that they had appealed for Thakurta to be exempt from personal appearance but the court did not agree to it. As per the Live Law report, the court said that then case has been continuing since 2017 and since Thakurta had appeared through 2019, he can personally appear even now.

Leftist portal The Wire, which had carried Thakurta’s article, has issued a statement claiming that the article was not defamatory and they are dismayed to see that the defamation suits against Thakurta have not been withdrawn.

By most accounts, Vir Sanghvi would be among the Indian media elite. He has studied at all the right schools, colleges and universities. He has been seen with all the happening people in media.

Yesterday, Vir Sanghvi came out with a column about the ‘shameful persecution’ of Munawar Faruqui and the ‘bogus controversy’ around the web series Tandav. In his piece titled “Of harmless humour and manufactured anger,” he took the BJP governments heavily to the task. He used words like “authoritarian,” “emergency” and “tyranny.”

If you are like me, you are probably not surprised by this. How can a day pass without an elite telling our elected government to its face that they have taken away the right to free speech? You know, sort of like the Communist USSR or Nazi Germany.

But, would you believe that liberals are furious with Vir Sanghvi over this article.?

Vir Sanghvi’s tweet has been quoted nearly 200 times and most people seem to be bashing him for this reason. How dare he disrespect the maulvis? On his timeline, Vir seems to have retweeted two people who came out in his support. It doesn’t appear that there are too many more.

In other words, anti-Hindu hatred among India’s liberal-secular class is simply out of hand. Now this class does not allow even the slightest criticism of any member of the Muslim community for any reason. You cannot even criticize the BJP by calling them Hindu fundamentalists and then equating them with Muslim fundamentalists. That would be an acknowledgement of the existence of Islamic fundamentalism! You can’t have that any more.

In the prescribed new format of Indian liberalism, you must accuse the BJP of Hindu fundamentalism. And you must also say that they are the most evil and the only evil people in the world. So evil that they cannot be compared to anything in the past, present or future.

In his column, Vir Sanghvi described the BJP’s strategy thus:

“It is a strategy that has been successfully mastered by many Muslim fundamentalists. Take the most famous example: The controversy over Salman Rushdie’s The Satanic Verses. None of the people who called for the banning of that book had even read it. They had no idea whether it really ridiculed Islam. But they ordered the protests anyway and got the novel banned, a crazy spiral that reached its apotheosis when Ayatollah Khomeini, who had never heard of Salman Rushdie or the book before, was told that it made fun of the Prophet. Khomeini promptly issued a fatwa urging the faithful to kill Rushdie.“

Get it? Even if you compare the BJP to Ayatollah Khomeini, that’s not condemnation enough. What did the poor Ayatollah Khomeini ever do to deserve comparisons with ‘fascist’ BJP?

This is how extreme the Indian liberal has become in their hatred against Hindus. If you seriously believe that India has voted in a government that is worse than Ayatollah Khomeini, you can’t be a reasonable person.

A final note. Yesterday, Badruddin Ajmal, the head of AIUDF, now a member of Congress’ grand alliance in Assam, spoke thus at a rally.

” “The BJP has a list of 3,500 mosques in the country. If it comes to power again at Centre again, they will demolish all those mosques,” he claimed at an election meeting on Wednesday in Dhubri district’s Gauripur.

Ajmal targeted the ruling BJP in the state as well and claimed that if the BJP wins the Assam elections again, “they will not let women go out wearing ‘burqa’, grow a beard, wear a skullcap or even offer ‘azaan’ at mosques”. Will you be able to live in such a way?” he questioned those gathered at the rally.”

Incidentally, Badruddin Ajmal has studied theology from the Darul-Uloom Deoband is listed among the 500 most influential Muslims in the world. A true liberal, you see.

Mumbai Police denies permission to UP Police, disrupts probe in Mirzapur case as police reach to question Farhan Akhtar

On Thursday, a team of Uttar Pradesh Police, which has reached Mumbai to investigate a case filed against the makers of the web series ‘Mirzapur’ has complained that they have been denied the requisite permission by the Mumbai police.

A three-member team of UP Police has been probing a case filed in the Kotwali Dehat police station of Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Following their arrival in Mumbai, they have accused the Mumbai Police of not co-operating in the investigation process. The UP Police team informed that whenever they visited the Crime Branch office in Andheri, the nodal officer aka DCP would remain unavailable. As such, they failed to get the necessary permission, required to proceed with the investigation.

The UP team then went to the Khar police station and visited the residence of actor Farhan actor in Khar West. They were also accompanied by a Mumbai police constable. On learning about the development, the Mumbai police swung into action. Reportedly, a senior IPS officer instructed the local DCP who in turn asked another senior official at the Khar police station to intervene. Far from cooperating, the Mumbai police reached the actor’s house, asked the UP police team to ‘leave immediately’ and return only after taking the required permission.

FIR registered against Mirzapur for hurting religious sentiments

A team of Uttar Pradesh police arrived in Mumbai to investigate the FIR against ‘Mirzapur’ on Thursday. The case was lodged, following a complaint by one Arvind Chaturvedi, who said that the web series hurt his religious sentiments, displayed abusive content, promoted enmity in the society and presented the district of Mirzapur in poor light.

Reportedly, the First Information Report was registered against Farhan Akhtar, Bhaumik Gondaliya and Ritesh Sidhwani. The Uttar Pradesh police booked the trio under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 295A (deliberate attempt to outrage religious sentiments), 504 (insult with an intention to breach peace), 505 (public mischief) and relevant sections of the IT Act.

SC issues notice to makers of Mirzapur

The Supreme Court has sent a notice and sought responses from the makers of the web series and the OTT platform, on a plea complaining over the portrayal of Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district in a bad light. The petition was filed by one Noida-based lawyer SK Kumar, a resident of the Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh. Kumar accused the makers of “maligning the image of Uttar Pradesh”. He said that Mirzapur has been depicted “as a den of terror and illegal activities”.

The petitioner also raised strong objection to the distasteful portrayal of women in the web series. The series showed a woman hailing from the district having a sexual relationship with the servant and her father-in-law as well. “By showing such ridicules and shameless things on the name of a city district is the insult of approximately 30 lakh population and rich culture of Mirzapur,” added the plea.

The show’s first season was launched on Amazon Prime Video on November 16, 2018. The web series depicts the putrescence and rule of mafia dons, and the rivalry and crime prevailing in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. Its second season was released in October last year.

Social media giant Twitter, which has been arbitrarily censoring social media users for expressing their views, has now caught up in another controversy after it allegedly refused to take down widely shared pornographic images and videos of a child sex trafficking victim. Twitter has claimed that the images and videos of the child sex trafficking victim do not violate its company policies.

According to a report in New York Post, a now 17-year-old teen ‘John Doe’, living in Florida currently, had filed a lawsuit filed accusing Twitter of allowing the video of his abuse, filmed when he was 13 years old to accumulate hundreds of thousands of views and thus profiting from it.

The federal lawsuit, filed on Wednesday by the victim and his mother in the Northern District of California, alleged that Twitter made money by circulating porn clips, which showed a 13-year-old engaged in sex acts, basically child pornography.

The teen alleged that a few years back, sex traffickers, posing as a 16-year-old female classmate had lured him for a chat on Snapchat. He said that he had allegedly exchanged nude photos with the sex traffickers before the conversation turned to blackmail. The traffickers had allegedly warned the teen about sending the images to his “parents, coach, pastor” and others if he did not share more sexually graphic photos and videos.

Acting under duress, the teen initially complied and sent videos of himself performing sex acts. The traffickers had also forced the boy to include another child in his videos, which he did, the suit said. 

Eventually, the boy blocked the traffickers, and they stopped harassing him, but at some point in 2019, the videos surfaced on Twitter under two accounts that were known to share child sexual abuse material, court papers allege. 

Child sex porn videos circulated on Twitter, officials do not remove content

Months later, as alleged in the lawsuit, the videos began to circulate on social media platforms. The videos and photos have been ‘reported’ to Twitter at least 3 times, first on December 25, 2019. However, the tech giant failed to do anything about it until a federal law enforcement officer got involved, the suit states.

Reportedly, Doe got to know about the videos last year in January 2020 after his classmates teased, harassed and carried out vicious bullying that led him to become “suicidal”.  

The boy’s parents contacted the school and made police reports and filed a complaint with Twitter, saying there were two tweets depicting child pornography and demanded that they be removed because they were illegal, harmful, and violate the site’s policies. 

However, the micro-blogging site did not respond for a week, the family said. Around the same time, the victim’s mother also filed two complaints to Twitter, and she also received no response, the suit states. 

On January 28, Twitter finally replied to the victim and said they would not be taking down the material, which had already been watched by more than 167,000 users and retweeted over 2,223 times, the suit states. The micro-blogging site said that they did not find a violation of the company’s ‘policies’ after their investigation, the lawsuit alleges.

“Thanks for reaching out. We’ve reviewed the content, and didn’t find a violation of our policies, so no action will be taken at this time,” Twitter responded to the victim.

Twitter further wrote, “If you believe there’s a potential copyright infringement, please start a new report. Twitter removes content after intervention from Homeland security officials

The careless response from Twitter officials has shocked the minor victim, who has now shot another letter to the social media giant asking them to take down the appalling videos. 

“What do you mean you don’t see a problem? We both are minors right now and were minors at the time these videos were taken. We both were 13 years of age. We were baited, harassed, and threatened to take these videos that are now being posted without our permission. We did not authorize these videos AT ALL, and they need to be taken down,” the teen wrote back to Twitter. 

The victim has even cited his case from a local law enforcement agency, but still, the tech-giant ignored him and did not initiate any action against the illegal child sexual abuse material even as it continued to get shared on its platform.

The victim’s family later filed a complaint with an agent from the Department of Homeland Security, who then forced the micro-blogging site to remove the content, the suit states. 

“Only after this take-down demand from a federal agent did Twitter suspend the user accounts that were distributing the CSAM and report the CSAM to the National Center on Missing and Exploited Children,” stated the suit, filed by the National Center on Sexual Exploitation on behalf of the victim.

The suit said that the response from Twitter is directly in contrast to what their automated reply message and User Agreement claims to say what they will do to protect children.” 

The disturbing lawsuit exposes how Twitter knowingly hosts sexual predators on its platform and allows illegal child porn networks to flourish, using the platform to exchange child porn material and profits. 

Meanwhile, Twitter, which has been at the receiving end of the massive criticism for censuring social media users for expressing their views, has replied to a query sent by New York Post saying, “Twitter has zero-tolerance for any material that features or promotes child sexual exploitation. We aggressively fight online child sexual abuse and have heavily invested in technology and tools to enforce our policy”.

“Our dedicated teams work to stay ahead of bad-faith actors and to ensure we’re doing everything we can to remove content, facilitate investigations, and protect minors from harm — both on and offline,” it claimed.

Soon after the US Presidential Elections that several in America believe were rigged, supporters of former President Donald Trump had swarmed the Capitol Hill building to protest against the perceived injustice. While the violence raged on, tech-giants, Twitter and Facebook, had suspended the account of Donald Trump assuming that the then sitting President of the United States of America should not speak to the people because in they ‘believed’ he might insight violence.

While Twitter has shown no inclination thus far to unsuspend Donald Trump’s account, Facebook has announced that they are now referring their decision to permanently suspend Trump’s account to their ‘oversight board’. Facebook had recently announced the formation of an ‘independent’ oversight board to regulate content on its platform and determine whether posts violate the platform’s norms on nudity, hate speech and insensitivity. According to Facebook, even Mark Zuckerberg cannot overturn the decision of the oversight board, formulated to take decisions on their toughest content issues.

In their announcement Facebook said that they believe their decision is “necessary and right”. However, since this was a decision of great significance, they have sent it to the oversight board to take the final call.

“While we await the board’s decision, Mr. Trump’s access will remain suspended indefinitely. We look forward to receiving the board’s decision — and we hope, given the clear justification for our actions on January 7, that it will uphold the choices we made. In addition to the board’s determination on whether to uphold or overturn the indefinite suspension, Facebook welcomes any observations or recommendations from the board around suspensions when the user is a political leader”, Facebook said in their announcement.

Further, Facebook agreed that while they believe their decision was correct in the light of the Capitol Hill violence, they also believe that the criticism about big-tech wielding too much power was justified and hence, they have forwarded their decision to the ‘oversight board’ to take the final call.

“Whether you believe the decision was justified or not, many people are understandably uncomfortable with the idea that tech companies have the power to ban elected leaders. Many argue private companies like Facebook shouldn’t be making these big decisions on their own. We agree. Every day, Facebook makes decisions about whether content is harmful, and these decisions are made according to Community Standards we have developed over many years. It would be better if these decisions were made according to frameworks agreed by democratically accountable lawmakers. But in the absence of such laws, there are decisions that we cannot duck. This is why we established the Oversight Board. It is the first body of its kind in the world: an expert-led independent organization with the power to impose binding decisions on a private social media company. Its decision will be available at the board’s website when it is issued”, said Facebook.

An investigation by Sharyl Atkinson of RealClearInvestigations in September 2020 had revealed that 18 of the 20 members of the oversight board by Facebook has ties to liberal billionaire George Soros. Earlier this year, George Soros had declared war against nationalists and nationalism, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and even Donald Trump.

The investigation revealed that 90 per cent of the board’s members “collaborated with or are tied to groups that have received funding from George Soros’ Open Society Foundations.”

Helle Thorning-Schmidt, former Prime Minister of Denmark, Catalina Botero-Marino, Afia Asantewaa Asare-Kyei and Sudhir Krishnaswamy are some of the members on the oversight board with ties to George Soros. Other members with links to the liberal billionaire include Ronaldo Lemos, Michael McConnell, Alan Rusbridger and Andas Sajo.

The links to George Soros and the overwhelming pattern here is not enough.

It was also revealed and covered by OpIndia in great detail, that one of the members of the Facebook Oversight Board is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist outfit banned in multiple Arab and Western countries, in addition to being a Nobel Peace Laureate. The Nobel Peace Prize does not carry much meaning at this point given the fact that Barack Obama, another winner, went on to bomb Libya into slavery apart from plunging the entire Middle-East into further chaos.

According to the report, Tawakkol Karman was formerly a member of the Islamist Yemeni Islah Party (YIP) that was backed by the Muslim Brotherhood. Lucknow: Blood-soaked body of Hindu priest found inside temple, investigation on

In a tragic incident in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, the body of a Hindu priest was found lying in a pool of blood inside a temple. According to reports, an octogenarian priest of a temple located in BKT police station area of Lucknow rural was found dead on Wednesday. The priest has injury marks on his head, as per the police.

No theft at the temple

Superintendent of Police, Lucknow Rural, Hirdesh Kumar said that the blood-soaked body of the priest was found lying in his hut inside the temple premises. The temple is located in Shivpuri village on the outskirts of Lucknow. The priest has been identified as Fakire Das. No signs of theft have been found at the scene as told by the police. “There are no signs of theft and his belongings as well as cash kept in the donation box of the temple have not been stolen”, said SP Kumar. The priest was reportedly from Sultanpur. An investigation has been initiated in the case.

Police investigating old enmity or dispute angle

Circle Officer (CO) of Bakshi Ka Talab police station, Hiridesh Katheria reportedly said that the priest had been staying alone in the temple for last few years. He said that preliminary investigation in the case has suggested that personal enmity could be a reason behind that death of the priest. The police have approached his family to find out if there was any old dispute or motive behind his killing. The body has been sent for post-mortem after registering an FIR for murder against unidentified persons.

Frequent attacks on Hindu priests

Killings of Hindu priests have become frequent these days. Last year in October, a Hindu priest named Babulal Vaishnav was set ablaze in the Bokna village, Sapotra division of Karauli district of Rajasthan by some people who wanted to encroach temple land. The same year in September, three priests of Arkeshwara temple in Mandya, Karnataka were brutally killed by unknown miscreants. In July last year, a temple priest named Kanti Prasad was brutally murdered by a man named Anas Qureshi in Meerut’s Abdullapur.
