‘Women have right to move whenever and wherever they want’ – NCW Chairperson after member makes controversial comments on Badaun case

Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women has said in a tweet that women have all the right move on their will whenever and wherever they want to. It’s society and state’s duty to make places safe for women. She was replying to actress Pooja Bhatt who had quoted a comment of NCW member Chandramukhi Devi saying if the victim of the Badaun rape and murder case had not gone out in late hours, the incident might not have happened.

NCW member’s statement stirred controversy

NCW had taken cognizance of the brutal rape and murder of a 50-year-old woman in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh, and sent its members to find more details and meet the family. A two-member team, including Chandramukhi Devi, met the family. Chandramukhi Devi was quoted saying that she was not happy with the role of police in the incident. “If the police would have shown swiftness in the matter, perhaps they could have saved the victim,” she said.

However, a 21-second video of Chandramukhi has emerged in which she was heard criticizing the victim for stepping out in late hours. She said, “The woman should not go out untimely under someone’s influence. I think if the woman would not have gone in the late hours or would have taken someone with her, the incident could have been avoided.”

Badaun rape case

On January 3, a 50-year-old woman was gang-raped and murdered in Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath has ordered a swift investigation in the case and said if required STF will be formed. Police station in-charge was suspended for negligence of the duty as the family of the victim has alleged that the police delayed in filing FIR. ADG Zone, Bareilly has been asked by the CM to submit a report at the earliest.

Chennai tense as Thowheed Jamaath members protest after their Pakistan-owned HQ was seized under Enemy Property Act

A tense situation prevailed in Mannady area in Chennai on Wednesday after controversial Islamic organisation Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TNTJ) protested against officials who had come to seal the building for violating the Enemy Property Act.

According to the reports, the officers from Custodian of Enemy Property for India, Mumbai, accompanied by revenue authorities and local police, had arrived at Chennai to seal off the Thowheed Jamath headquarters, which is registered as the property of Pakistan under the Enemy Property Act 1968.

The Thowheed Jamaat, whose building is registered as the property of Pakistan, had received several notices from the state authorities for violating the Enemy Property Act. Following no action from their end, officers from Custodian of Enemy Property for India, Mumbai, accompanied by revenue authorities and local police, sealed the office on Wednesday.

Reportedly, the building was initially been granted to Abdul Rahman, the Vice President of TNTJ, for the purpose of running a lungi firm. However, Rahman has been using the building for serving as the headquarters of the TNTJ. In fact, Rahman only holds the power of attorney, since the actual property belongs to Tuba Khaleeli, who now lives in Pakistan.

After the Indo-Pak war of 1965, the Enemy Property Act was enacted in 1968, which regulates such properties and lists the custodian’s powers. Following the claims of heirs of Raja Mohammad Amir Mohammad Khan, on his properties across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, the Act was amended.

Towheed Jamath members protest outside office, create public nuisance

As the news spread, the office-bearers of TNTJ assembled near the premises from different parts of the city and protested against the action. The protest continued for nearly two hours causing a severe nuisance to the public.

The Enemy Property Act of 1968 gives powers to the Custodian of Enemy Property for India to maintain custody of such property, including its rights, interest, title and any other benefits.

The country has a total of 9,400 enemy properties, that is the land left or sold by people who moved to Pakistan after Independence, which is worth Rs 1 lakh crore. In 2017, the Union government passed Enemy Property (Amendment and Validation) act that denied the legal heirs their right over the enemy property. 

Thowheed Jamath says they pay rent, want to buy the property

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman, Vice President of TNTJ, said that the office of Thowheed Jamaath is located on the enemy property and when the Union government decided to dispose of the enemy property, they started paying rent to the government. He added that the radical Islamic organisation also thought of purchasing the land.

However, on Wednesday, without any notification, many policemen were deployed near the office and we were made to leave, Rahman said. The Union government decided to seize the property without any notification and this is not acceptable, he claimed.

Rahman claimed that there were political motives behind the move. “This is an act to humiliate us but we will not get angered. Even if we plan to protest, we will do it in a democratic way.” he said.

All you need to know about Jhanvi Kukreja murder case, the teenage girl who was brutally killed at a New Year party in Mumbai

The year 2021 has begun on an extremely sad note for the Kukrejas who woke up to the news of the brutal killing of their 19-year-old daughter Jhanvi Kukreja on January 1 (Friday). The teenager was found murdered in cold blood on the ground floor of a residential building on 15th Road in Khar in the early hours of Friday. Jhanvi, a resident of Mumbai and a psychology student from Jai Hind College was allegedly pushed from the 15th floor of a building named Bhagwati Heights in suburban Khar where she had gone to attend a New Year’s Eve party.

Jhanvi had attended the party with two of her best friends- Shree Jodhankar (24) and Diya Padankar (19) who are the prime accused in the case. It is believed that a heated exchange of argument between the trio had led to Jhanvi’s brutal killing.

The mother of Jhanvi Kukreja refutes ‘love triangle’ claim

Jhanvi’s mother, Nidhi Kukreja claimed that Jhanvi had seen Shree and Diya in a compromising position at the party, following which an argument broke out between them. The claims say the argument turned into a physical fight in which Jhanvi was killed.

Nidhi refuted rumours that there was any ‘love triangle’ between Jhanvi and the accused Shree Jogdhankar and Diya Padankar. She said that the accused were her friends. “Shree and Jhanvi were not dating. They were very good friends and Shree had visited our house a couple of times as well. All the three kids, Diya, Shree and Jahnvi, had a very good relationship as friends,” Jahnvi’s mother said.

Diya was like a daughter to me: Nidhi Kukreja

Jhanvi’s mother furthered that Diya was like a daughter to her. “Diya is our immediate neighbour and she was like a daughter to me. Diya used to be at our house almost every day, eating, drinking, sleeping… just like my own daughter,” said Nidhi. However, she said that Diya’s parents have not spoken to her since the incident.

“We are immediate neighbours but Diya’s parents have not spoken or reached out to us yet,” she said.

Injuries incurred by Jhanvi Kukreja were homicidal and not accidental

As per the autopsy report, skull fracture was said to be the cause of her death. Reports also suggest that Jhanvi’s injuries were homicidal and not accidental. It is revealed that the deceased was brutally beaten approximately around 2.30 am. Her body showed injury marks on the hip and thighs. “These injuries indicate that Kukreja was badly beaten with an intention of killing her,” said an officer from Khar police station in Mumbai. As per reports, it was around 6 am that the murder was discovered.

The Khar police, investigating the case, arrested Shree Jodhankar and Diya Padankar on January 2 (Saturday). They have been charged under section 302 (murder) and 323 (assault) of the IPC. According to reports, Shree fractured his ribs and suffered injuries on his hands. He is currently admitted to the hospital. Once discharged, cops will take him under custody. Police are yet to figure out how Shree suffered injuries, however, they opined that Shree might have also had a fall during the scuffle.

Forensic experts to recreate the crime scene

Khar Police are most likely to ask for extended custody of the two youths arrested. Police claim that the prime accused, Shree Jogdhankarwho had mysteriously sustained injuries during the incident, had been at the hospital for treatment, due to which police couldn’t interrogate him. While Diya has started slowly revealing what had happened that night, police said that her statements are not reliable as she was withholding information for the first two days.

The Khar Police have been recording detailed statements of all the party attendees to ascertain the sequence of events of that fateful night. It has been reported that the forensic experts would be recreating the scene to probe all angles in the case. Since there are no direct eyewitnesses, the cops will mainly focus on circumstantial evidence to nail Jhanvi’s killers.

Jhanvi’s phone call records reveal that shortly before her murder, she had called up two of her friends and told one of them that she feared Padalkar planned to “do something to herself”. She had been allegedly sobbing while speaking to this friend of hers. Police said that they will be recording the statement of the friend she spoke to.

Parents request Mumbai police to fast-track the investigation

Meanwhile, parents of the deceased teenager met the Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh on January 5 (Tuesday) morning, requesting him to fast-track the investigation and bring justice to their daughter.

“The friends took my daughter for a party and they did not even have the decency to call and tell us about what happened. I got a call at 5 am while my daughter had died at 2.15 am. She was lying in a pool of blood but nobody came to her rescue. She could have been saved had someone taken her to the hospital,” said Nidhi Kukreja, Jhanvi’s mother.

Weeping outside the Khar police station, Nidhi stated: “My daughter had such a bright future. She was planning to study abroad. Now she is no more, just hours after celebrating her father’s birthday.”

She added that she has full faith in the law and judicial system, and believes they will help provide her daughter with justice.

The timeline of the case: 

On December 31 (Thursday), Diya and Shree and Jhanvi were at Diya’s house for a party. As it was Jhanvi’s father Prakash Kukreja’s birthday as well, they went over to Jhanvi’s house to celebrate it. Later, Diya requested Jhanvi’s parents to let her go to another party. She told them they will come back in a few hours. Jhanvi’s parents initially did not want to let Jhanvi go but on Diya’s insistence, they allowed her.

Jhanvi Kukreja, Jodhankar and Padankar left to attend the New Year’s Eve terrace party at Bhagwati Heights in Khar. They were among 10 people who attended the party. At around 11.30 pm the trio reached Bhagwanti Heights apartment, which is a 14-storey building. The party was hosted by their friend Yash Ahuja, who lives on the second floor of the same building.

According to Police officials, the murder happened anytime between 1.30 am and 2 am.

It was not until 6 am that the murder was discovered. Officers at the crime scene said that a woman from the building was walking her dog when she saw blood dripping from the staircase. “By this time, the party was still going on and the murder went unnoticed as people used the lift and not use the stairs to go up and down the building,” said the officer.

When the police reached the rooftop, they found alcohol bottles and people in the party inebriated.

Jhanvi Kukreja was taken to Baba hospital and she had died before her parents could reach the hospital.

The organiser of the party revealed that Jodhankar and Padankar fought with Jhanvi. Police suspect that the fight may have been caused by Jhanvi accusing Jodhankar of cheating on her with Padankar. The fight turned violent with Jodhankar and Padankar hitting Jhanvi. At 2.30 am, Janhvi left the rooftop after a heated argument with her alleged boyfriend and the girl he was making out with.

However, after allegedly killing her, Jodhankar and Padankar returned to the party, which led the others attending the party to think that Jhanvi had gone home. Divya Padankar also had dinner and went off to sleep at the host’s house. Surprisingly, her body language did not for a second suggest that she had committed such a heinous crime.

According to the investigations, Jhanvi was allegedly brutally assaulted by the accused Shree and from the 5th floor, the fight reached the second floor. Here Jhanvi’s head was banged on the railing of the staircase. The cops suspect the accused might have dragged Jhanvi to the ground floor or thrown her from the second floor to the ground floor.

Police also said that there were bloodstains on the staircase and experts have collected samples to ascertain which bloodstain is whose as all three youths were bleeding.

While the circumstantial evidence points that Jhanvi was assaulted on the second floor, the evidence like Jhanvi’s one footwear was found on the fifth floor and the other on the ground floor, suggest that the teenager was manhandled on the fifth floor as well. Moreover, Jhanvi’s earring was found lying on the fifth floor, that also suggests that there was a struggle that had ensued between Jhanvi and the two accused on the fifth floor itself.

The cops said all the people in the party had consumed alcohol. The cops also suspect some may have taken drugs too but are awaiting blood reports.

The distraught mother of the deceased claimed that the incident took place at 1:40 am on Thursday and she was only informed about it at 5 am. Parents of another person present at the party informed the victim’s family as Jhanvi’s mother said that most people had fled the crime scene. The mother said that her daughter’s life could have been saved had anyone informed her about the incident.

Tamil Nadu: NIA arrests absconding ISIS terrorist Shihabudeen, accused in SSI Wilson murder case

The National Investigation Agency has arrested the sixth accused ISIS terrorists in connection with the brutal murder of Special Sub-Inspector A Wilson. The 39-year-old Shihabudeen (alias Sirajudeen and Khalid), a resident of Chennai, was arrested from the Chennai airport on his arrival from Qatar on Wednesday. He had been absconding since January 2020.

Based on a lookout circular, immigration authorities had detained Shihabudeen. He was later arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Except for Shihabudeen, all of the other terrorists who were involved in the murder have been arrested earlier.

In a press release, NIA said the suspect, absconding since January, allegedly arranged the illegal firearm and prohibited ammunition, used by Abdul Shameem and Thowfeek, for killing the police officer who was on duty at the check-post in Kanniyakumari district on January 8, 2020.

NIA files charge-sheet in the murder case of Tamil Nadu cop SSI Wilson, names 6 ISIS terrorists

The agency had on July 10 filed a charge-sheet mentioning Abdul Shameem, Y Thowfeek, Khaja Mohideen, Mahboob Pasha, Ejas Pasha & Jaffar Ali as the accused in the Wilson murder case and had charged them under sections 120B, 302, 353 and 506 (ii) read with 34 of IPC, sections 16, 18, 18B, 20, 23, 38 and 39 of the UA (P) Act, 1967, and sections 25(1B)(a) and 27 of the Arms Act.

Investigation reveals murderers were “self-declared jihadists” who killed the cop to avenge the arrest of their ISIS associates

After taking over from the Tamil Nadu Police, the NIA re-registered the case on February 1, 2020, and arrested two suspects, Abdul Shameem and Thoufeek. The preliminary investigation in the murder of SSI Wilson had revealed that his murderers were “self-declared jihadists” who killed the police personnel to avenge the arrest of their ISIS associates—Mohammed Haneef Khan (29), Imran Khan (32) and Mohammed Zaid (24) by the Tamil Nadu police in Bengaluru in January 2020.

In response to the arrest of their ISIS colleagues in Bengaluru, the terrorists had shot Wilson the following day at the Padanthalumoodu check-post at Kaliyakkavilai in Tamil Nadu.

According to the police, Shameem had been on the run after procuring bail recently in the murder case of a Hindu Munnani leader in 2014.

The assailants were arrested on January 15, 2020, and it was revealed that the attack was carried out to avenge the arrest of their colleagues and to instil terror in the minds of people. The NIA re-registered a case against the attackers on February 1, 2020, and took over the investigation from Tamil Nadu police.

Today, America stands in disgrace. World leaders have all expressed concern for the condition of democracy in America. For a nation that is used to leading the free world, we cannot imagine a greater embarrassment. Absolutely nobody is sparing them today. Not American citizens. Not people around the world. You almost feel bad for the nation that is symbolized by Lady Liberty who lifts her lamp beside the golden door. Whither America?

But why? Over the last few years, America has been a country increasingly at war with itself. We saw left-wing thugs burning the campus of UC Berkeley, one of the world’s great universities. Then, we saw right-wing thugs gather menacingly at Charlottesville in Virginia. Last year, violent left-wing mobs took over American cities, from Seattle to Minneapolis.

Communist flags, Nazi flags, Confederate flags. In the great nation that crushed Communism and Nazism. The storm had been gathering. Anyone could have foreseen what happened today.

So what makes today so special and so unforgivable? It’s the symbolism of where it happened. Nobody will ever forgive Trump supporters for what they did today.

It is not the magnitude of the violence. It is the sight of the US Capitol under siege that has shamed America.

That’s our capital, the beating heart of the world’s largest democracy. See the wall of smoke rising from it. All this as our Prime Minister stands shoulder to shoulder with the President of the United States.

Imagine the humiliation. A meeting between the two most powerful leaders of the free world. Somebody wanted to ruin that image. They wanted to show India as a broken nation, not worthy of leading the free world. They wanted to see Delhi in flames.

And they got their wish. The Delhi riots shamed India in a way like no other. And the worst part is that they used their ecosystem to push claims that the ruling BJP itself was responsible for the violence.

Ask yourself the obvious question. Can you imagine any leader wanting this when he is hosting the President of the United States? Who had the motive to orchestrate these riots? Who had the most to gain by shaming India? And who are the people that have been working hard to defame India on all international forums for the last six years?

The violence began the afternoon that Trump landed in Amdavad. The violence stopped almost as soon as he left Delhi, as if someone had pulled a switch. Can you imagine how our leaders would be squirming as they met the President of the United States in the backdrop of a burning national capital? What did the BJP, or any organization related to BJP, have to gain here? Nothing, except humiliation.

Now can you imagine the smiles on the faces of the anti-national lobby as Delhi burned? They had wanted exactly this.

Think about those who make wild allegations that BJP was behind the Delhi riots. The one thing they never explain: what could have been the motive? Show me a diplomatic motive for the BJP to want these riots. Show me even a petty domestic political motive. Or show me even a cause for irritation. You can’t. Why would the BJP or its supporters embarrass PM Modi before the world? If you suspect petty politics, the Delhi elections were already over and not due for another five years. The BJP had swept Lok Sabha polls just a few months ago and the PM was at the peak of his popularity. The only thing the Delhi riots did was ruin a beautiful moment for BJP, PM Modi and India.

And you know exactly who wanted that. It is sad that one even needs to even make this common-sense argument out aloud. It shows you how far the fake narratives have penetrated.

Why attack on Indian Parliament is ‘just a great day’ but US Capitol Hill storming is shocking for Indian ‘liberals’

A few hours back thousands of pro-Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol Hill, the federal government building, in a bid to block the transfer of power process. This breach by the mob forced members of the House and Senate to suspend a joint session of Congress which was to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in recently concluded 2020 US election.

That has kind of ‘shocked’ the Indian ‘liberals’. In fact, many used the attack on Capitol Hill to ‘caution’ on how there could be such incident in India too. Have a look.

Rana Ayyub, patron saint of all things alarmist, insinuated that the attack by Trump supporters was a terror attack.

Sagarika Ghose, a self-proclaimed Nehru fan-girl, likened this to democracy in India and called it fragile.

Some like The Wire employee Arfa Khanum Sherwani even compared the Trump supporters storming the Capitol Hill to America’s Babri demolition moment.

Which is kind of weird since Capitol Hill is not a disputed structure standing on remains of what was a Hindu temple. In fact, to put things in perspective, it is more like the Indian Parliament. Where the members of the parliament come and discuss legislations and form policies.

A more appropriate comparison of attack on US parliament building would be the 2001 Indian Parliament attack by the Islamic terrorists. You know how these ‘liberals’ reacted?

Rajdeep Sardesai called it ‘a great day‘.

Sardesai, while narrating the terror attack, said how they were busy holding a picnic on Parliament garden when the terrorists attacked the Parliament. Sardesai asked his cameraperson to ask the guard to close the gate so ‘no other channel could enter’. Those days there were fewer channels and Sardesai was excited at the prospect of doing an exclusive story of the terrorist attack.

Similarly, Afzal Guru, one of the masterminds of the terror attack on Indian Parliament, was hanged on February 9, 2013 at Tihar jail for conspiring against India.

Ayyub called Afzal Guru’s conviction for terror attack on Parliament ‘appeasement of fanatics’ and ‘blot on judicial process’.

Slogans were raised in Jawaharlal Nehru University hailing Afzal Guru. “Afzal hum sharminda hai, tere kaatil zinda hai,” was one of the slogans raised. Umar Khalid, a former JNU student, was indicted by Delhi Police for sedition in the case. He was recently charge sheeted for conspiring for the 2020 Delhi riots.

The Indian ‘liberals’ have rallied and put their weight behind the likes of Umar Khalid and demanded he be released from jail.

So when they express shock and put up dystopian scenarios for India by comparing the same with pro-Trump supporters attacking Capitol Hill, it just appears too hypocritical even by their standards.

In the wee hours of the morning (Indian time), many of us night-owls watched in horror as Capitol Hill burnt. As lawmakers counted electoral votes certifying Joe Biden as President-Elect, supporters of incumbent President Donald Trump stormed Capitol Hill in Washington DC. Capitol Hill is where the US Senate and House of Representatives are seated at. In the latest update, at least 4 people have died and at least two pipe bombs have been found at the RNC and DNC.

World leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, condemned the violence and urged that all parties ensure the peaceful transfer of power in the United States of America. But as we saw the shocking scenes from the seat of democracy, one has to wonder what led to the violence that left 4 dead and the Capitol Hill breached? For a country that prides itself for being a model for the rest of the world to emulate, what went so horribly wrong?

Strangely, while Washington burnt, one is reminded of an interesting quote from Jimmy Carter. He once said, “The best way to enhance freedom in other lands is to demonstrate here that our democratic process is worthy of emulation”. And that is not a sentiment that is absent today. For a large majority of Americans, the American process is worthy of emulation. Then one simply has to wonder how did the democratic process worthy of emulation end up with 45% Republicans supporting the storming of Capitol Hill?

For India and most of the democratic world, perhaps, the form of democracy that is touted to be that based on which the country functions, is a Deliberative democracy. Essentially, nations assert that any decision taken in the democracy has to go through an authentic deliberative process. But unfortunate as it is, that process has collapsed entirely in the United States and instead there was widespread anarchy and rioting across the country.

In the USA, what we saw in the past few months could perhaps be considered as a prime example of the Left burning the country down to ashes and the worst face of radical democratic thought. With Donald Trump being the great disrupter in American politics, it did not really come as a surprise when ANTIFA, encouraged and egged on by the Liberal politicians and newsmen, proceeded to burn the country down.

While the apparent trigger was the death of George Floyd, and the merits of his death remain an issue for the USA to solve, the ultimate aim of the protests were extremely different. A disruptor had won, unseating the high and mighty cabal of the Left, and the people wanted blood.

For the Left, a democracy only works when their own people occupy the seat of power and the moment that momentum is disrupted, all bets are off. While ANTIFA thugs went around murdering Trump supporters, unleashing violence of the roads, rioting, looting stores and unleashing anarchy, the politicians and media persons not only pandered to the riotous mob, but also defended their unbridled violence.

Sample this statement by Chris Cuomo.

“Who said protests have to be peaceful”, he asked when ANTIFA thugs ran amok.

Pramila Jayapal had hailed the ANTIFA violence as well. “Never stop fighting to make it better”, she said.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also hailed the “protests” that were burning her own country down. “The whole point of protest is to make people uncomfortable”, she said.

“Everyone beware”. “They will not stop”. “They will not let up and they should not let up”. Kamala Harris, the “president-elect” according to a gaffe by Joe Biden himself, said repeatedly.

To bring some clarity and context to the issue, Donald Trump had earlier declared that the USA will designate Antifa as a terrorist organisation. Antifa is short for ‘anti-fascists’. While numerous people believe anyone who does not endorse fascism is ‘antifa’, in reality, the word has a very specific meaning. It is of great concern now that Antifa India is a thing as well. Antifa is just a fancy name for 21st Century communists.

It is an umbrella term used to denote far-left political ‘activists’, who often employ violent rhetoric to achieve their political objectives. Like their Soviet and Chinese counterparts, these radicals are not fond of freedom of expression and have effectively shut down free speech in universities across the USA. It is also pertinent to note that it is almost entirely an urban phenomenon.

So while Donald Trump wanted to ban ANTIFA, Left politicians and the media fanned the violence and even justified the carnage that was being left in the wake. With months of violence, what precipitated was the final break-down of patience and the result was for the world to see.

Once Trump supporters occupied Capitol Hill, the same politicians and media persons who were justifying ANTIFA violence, began to rue the death of democracy in America and how, the violence at Capitol Hill was the legacy of “fascist Trump”.

Just one of the many tweets came from Pramila Jayapal, who was earlier hailing ANTIFA violence as ‘patriotic protest’. While ANTIFA thugs were patriots, Trump supporters were domestic terrorists.

This phenomenon, however, did not occur in a vacuum. Truth be told, it has become the favoured tactic of the Left and the mainstream media. Their conduct has proved definitively that they are not averse towards violence, they are only opposed to it when their footsoldiers are the ones who have to suffer the consequences for the violence they themselves unleashed. In fact, I would go out on a limb and say that the Left wanted this.

When the Left unleashes violence, they are perfectly aware that violence is a two-way street. When people are pushed to a corner with months of carnage, the retaliation could possibly be brutal and imminent. For a cabal that seems to orchestrate large-scale violence, this possibility, this imminent possibility, was well evident. Therefore, it stands to reason that when the Left unleashes violence, part of their grand plan is to provoke a reaction so they can then paint their political opponents as the terrorists wanting to burn the country down when it was them who lit the fire.

There are important lessons that India can learn from this. The first and foremost being that anarchy on the streets will have consequences. When people see that a particular section of the country is allowed to hold cities at ransom, block highways and bring normal life to a halt because their demands haven’t been met and yet, no action is taken against them and they are allowed to run rampant, then other sections of society will also attempt the same.

It is only a matter of time before complete anarchy erupts if one section of society is constantly permitted to get away with holding cities at random. That is why it is so important that anarchy such as the farmer protests and Shaheen Bagh is not permitted to continue for long. Because it has debilitating effects on the health of a nation. If people come to believe that blocking highways is how one has his demands granted by policymakers, then voting and elections take a back seat.

When that happens, we do not have a democracy anymore. The Left should also be aware that actions have consequences. If they justify lawlessness and anarchy in the name of civil rights protests, it is only a matter of time before their opponents take the same route. And they may not like the results when that happens.

American woman of Pakistan origin claims actor Cezanne Khan who played Anurag Basu on TV, married her for a green card

Actor Cezanne Khan, who got fame from his role of Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay, announced that he has been dating someone special and may soon get married to her. Soon after his announcement, a woman from the US who hails from Pakistan has claimed that Khan had married her for a green card and divorced her once he got it. Aisha Pirani, a US citizen of Pakistani descent, claimed that Khan used her and now he is hiding the fact that he was married. Khan, on the other hand, has denied the allegations while calling her an obsessive fan.

Times of India had quoted Aisha Pirani saying that she does not care if he gets married 50 times but questioned about his intentions as he is allegedly hiding the fact that he was married. She said, “He cheated on me and used me to obtain green card in the US and lived off my money. The moment he got the Green Card, he filed for divorce.”

She further added that she had some issues with the first marriage. She met Khan at her husband’s house in Mumbai after which they slowly got close. She claimed that Khan did not even tell his mother about their marriage and she is “an orthodox woman who would want a younger daughter-in-law”. She said that she would have let the matter go as she loves him, but he started cheating on her with his former girlfriend. “When I objected, he started fighting with me,” she added.

As per Aisha’s claims, the duo got married on April 3, 2015. She claimed that she has proof and alleged that she gave written complaint to the US Immigration authorities and Mumbai Police in March 2020 against Cezanne. She has alleged that Khan has two passports with a different date of births. When Khan learned about the complaint, he allegedly started sending her abusive messages.

‘She is an obsessive fan’ claims Cezanne

Cezanne Khan has denied the allegations and called Aisha an obsessive fan. He said, “I was never married to her. This is a case of an obsessive fan. It’s irrelevant to talk about such people. She is just trying to gain publicity through me.”

He further said that Aisha is his cousin’s wife’s sister who resides in Karachi and that how he knows her. He also alleged that Aisha had been morphing a lot of stuff and posting messages on social media platforms for 2-3 years. “My fans have been asking me whether all this is true. There is a limit to obsession and this is going overboard now. The fact that she was married to me and we are now divorced is her fabrication. I haven’t said anything to her because I know she is obsessive,” he added.

Khan was planning to get married to his current girlfriend who hails from Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, by the end of 2020 but it got postponed due to pandemic. “We will tie the knot this year. She stumped a foodie like me with her biryani. Post dinner, I proposed to her and told her I like her and would want to eat the food she makes all my life,” he said.

On December 28, he had shared a photograph with his girlfriend referring to her as ‘someone special’.

The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the central government whether the thousands of protestors camped in and around Delhi to protest over the three farm laws are “protected from COVID-19”. In a significant observation, the apex court bench headed by the Chief Justice of India SA Bobde drew a parallel between the ongoing ‘farmer’ protests and the controversial Tablighi Jamaat congregation in the capital last year that went on to become one of India’s biggest clusters of coronavirus cases.

Hearing the plea that sought action against authorities for allowing Tablighi Jamaat congregation, CJI SA Bobde asked the Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, “Do not know whether farmers are protected from COVID? Have you learnt from your experience what happened (referring to the Tablighi congregation)?

The bench also comprising Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian further asked whether farmers protesting at various Delhi borders are taking precaution to contain the spread of the pandemic.

The Chief Justice also observed that the same problem may arise from farmers’ protests too. “I don’t know if farmers are protected from COVID19,”‘ he asked the Solicitor General, who in turn replied, “they (protestors) are not”.

The top court has reportedly asked the centre to file a report on the steps taken so far to contain the pandemic and added it was concerned for precautions not being taken against the spread of COVID in large gatherings. The bench said it is trying to ensure that the pandemic does not spread and directed the Centre to ensure guidelines are strictly followed.

The observations by the Supreme Court came at the hearing of a PIL questioning the role of the Centre and the Delhi Government in allowing the huge congregation at the Tablighi meet in Delhi’s Nizamuddin area in March 2020.

Tablighi Jamaat event that became the coronavirus super-spreader in India.

The Tablighi Jamaat congregation, which took place in Nizamuddin Markaz in the first half of March, became the mega-spreader of coronavirus in India, as many as more than one-third cases in India are linked to that event now. The persons who had attended the event, and their family members and those who came into contact with them are testing positive regularly, contributing the increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the country.

The Tablighi jamaat event in Delhi wreaked havoc in the country. The event produced more than 30 per cent of the total coronavirus cases in the country at the time. The Markaz event was not only attended by Indian Muslims but also foreign nationals.

The alarm bells should have started ringing when seven Indonesian nationals associated with the organization tested positive for the Wuhan Coronavirus in Telangana after travelling from Delhi to Karimnagar for an Ijtema. However, it was only later that the full scope of the Tablighi Jamaat’s contribution to the spreading of the virus became prominent when nearly 300 Jamaatis in the Delhi’s Banglewali Masjid had to be taken to hospital for suspected coronavirus symptoms, many testing positive eventually.

Propaganda against the central government’s farm reforms is now sky-high, literally. One protester’s video is being circulated on social media platforms in which he was seen spreading misinformation about the Agriculture laws in an Indigo flight to Delhi. It has to be noted that the person not only flouted aviation norms but also did not care about the Covid-19 regulations in place.

The video appears to be a recent one as the man propagating in the flight said the protesters are on roads from last 40-42 days. The man, who appears to be a Sikh, was talking in Punjabi. He said that these protests are not just for the farmers but for the consumers as well. He claimed that the price of agriculture produce is increasing and it will increase further in future because of these Agriculture laws. The protester claimed that they are spreading ‘information’ about the protests on buses, trains and metro etc. so that people know about the ongoing protests.

It is to be noted that while he was speaking, an air hostess asked him to sit down as plane was about to land, but he continued saying he will only take two minutes. The man who appeared to be recording the video asked him to continue irrespective of the air hostess’s request. Towards the end of the video, the announcement to switch off the mobile devices can be heard which is only made when the plane is about to land.

Netizens question how Indigo allowed such an act

According to the regulations issued in August 2020, any passenger who refuses to wear mask can be put in no-fly list by the airline.

The person who was speaking about the farmer protests in the plane was not wearing any protective gear, including mask or face shield. He was putting his life and other passengers’ life in danger in mid-air. Netizens are baffled by the man who was flouting aviation norms.

Indigo Airlines or Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) have not reacted to the incident yet.
