Minutes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Twitter that he would address the citizens at 6 pm on Tuesday, Aaj Tak started a live program on it, though the actual address was hours away. Since no media organisation has any solid idea as to what the PM is going to speak about, Aaj Tak decided that reciting totally random, meaningless sentences over and over again will be a good way to continue the program till 6 PM finally arrives.

PM Modi to address the nation today

PM Modi wrote, “Will be sharing a message with my fellow citizens at 6 pm this evening.” In his tweet, the Prime Minister did not mention anything in specific, leaving netizens and news channels speculating about the potential message.

Despite the limited information, Aaj Tak decided to do a 16-minute segment, decoding the Prime Minister’s tweet and the implications of his address to the nation. During the programme, the anchor informed the viewers about PM Modi’s tweet and referred to the channel’s correspondent, Sanjay Sharma for further information on the matter.

Clueless Aaj Tak reporter says the same thing in a different way

“Humare sambadata saath judh rahe hain, Sanjay kya jaankari hai aapka paas (We are now connecting to our correspondent. What additional information do you have Sanjay),” the anchor inquired. However, the Aaj Tak reporter had nothing more to add other than the already-stated fact that the Prime Minister will address the nation at 6 pm.

The clueless reporter, who was clearly caught off guard on-air, decided to cover up for it. “Jaankari ye hai ki jaald hi Pradhan Mantri saari cheezein iss mamla mein spaast karenge (As per the latest information, the Prime Minister will address the nation and make everything clear),” the reporter emphasised.

Since there was more time to kill, he further added, “There is a lot of information that people are not aware of but the Prime Minister will make everything clear when he addresses the nation.” This made netizens question the decision of the Aaj Tak anchor to refer to her correspondent, who had absolutely no new information to add about the matter. The benign gibberish on Aaj Tak also made people wonder about the reason behind conducting a long-segment with zero information.

More than 10 months have passed since the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act by the central government but the ignorance and the deliberate attempts to stoke fears surrounding the Act, even among the elected legislators continue unabated. Recently, Mahua Moitra, the TMC MP from Krishnanagar, West Bengal, made a fool of herself while whipping up fears about the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

In a bid to attack the BJP, Moitra quoted BJP president JP Nadda, claiming that he had talked about implementing CAA soon. Moitra added that the state would soon show the door to the BJP long before they show them their papers.

Mohua tried to take a dig at the BJP with her snarky tweet, but while doing so, she ended up exposing her own stupidity when she claimed that she wouldn’t be furnishing her papers for the Citizenship Amendment Act.

Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) doesn’t affect Indian citizens, Mohua Moitra made a fool of herself

The Citizenship Amendment Bill passed by the government last December aims to provide citizenship to persecuted minorities from neighbouring Islamic nations of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The bill enables members of six religions, that is Hindus, Christians, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Sikhs, to apply for the Citizenship of the country.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill does not affect the citizens of India and it has no provisions to either disenfranchise the Indian nationals or curtail their fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. Neither does it concern deportation of any foreigner from the country. It only concerns persecuted minorities who have fled the neighbouring three countries and have sought asylum in India.

Unless Mahua Mitra is one of the persecuted Hindus from the neighbouring countries staying in India and seeking its citizenship, she has nothing to worry about furnishing documents. However, with the West Bengal Assembly Elections just months away, one cannot expect anything better from TMC leaders than preying on the fears of people and sowing confusion and apprehensions against the central government by peddling lies, even if that entails making a spectacular fool of oneself.

It is evident that muscle power dominates the politics in Bihar. The state has seen less development and more Bahubali leaders in the last few decades. For years, the soil of Bihar remained red because of the domineering politics in the state. The politics of Bihar has provided shelter to countless Bahubalis. They covered their wrongdoings and became Bahubali leaders. For many years, Bahubali leaders have dominated the politics in Bihar.

Their reputation spoke for themselves, and several political parties openly accepted them as their part as they project themselves as ‘messiahs’ of one or the other caste. The names of Bahubali leaders like Anant Singh, Surajbhan Singh, Sunil Pandey, and Rama Singh still run down a shiver in the spine of the people of Bihar.

The story of Babubali leader and former MP Anand Mohan Singh

One of the most notorious Bahubali leaders of Bihar is Anand Mohan Singh, who is currently serving a life sentence in jail. He became the first politician who was sentenced to death. However, his punishment was reduced to life imprisonment. Singh was born in the village of Pachgachia in Saharsa district of Bihar. The area is often termed as the land of the Kosi river. His grandfather Ram Bahadur Singh was a freedom fighter.

Singh was first introduced to politics in 1974 during Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan’s ‘Sampurna Kranti’ movement. He joined the movement and left his college. During the time of the emergency, he spent two years in jail. It is believed that his political career started at the age of 17. His political mentor was Parameshwar Kunwar, who was a well-known freedom fighter and fierce socialist leader.

In Bihar, politics runs on caste equations and muscle power. Anand Mohan took advantage of the scenario and became the leader of the Rajput community. He showed black flags to then-Prime Minister Morarji Desai in 1978 when he was giving a speech.

In 1980, Anand Mohan Singh emerged as a Bahubali. In the same year, he founded the Samajwadi Kranti Sena. The main objective of his organization was to counter the rise of the lower castes. His name appeared in several criminal cases, and a reward was declared on his arrest. During that time, he contested the Lok Sabha elections but could not win. Later in 1983, he was imprisoned for three months for the first time.

Anand Mohan Singh’s entry into politics

In 1990, the Janata Dal made him a candidate for the Mahishi assembly seat. He won the election and defeated Lahtan Chaudhary of Congress by a massive difference of 62 thousand votes. As per media reports, though he was an MLA, he led a notorious communal gang that was often termed as his ‘Private Army’. His gang often attacked those who were in favor of reservation.

Singh has a long feud with Rajesh Ranjan alias 5-year Lok Sabha MP Pappu Yadav gang. During that time, the situation became civil war-like in the Kosi land. When power changed hands in the 1990s, the Rajput dominance in Bihar politics diluted to a large extent.

Formation of Bihar People’s Party

In 1990, the Mandal Commission recommended a 27 percent reservation for OBCs in government jobs. The Janata Dal supported the commission’s report that did not get along with Anand Mohan, who always opposed any form of reservation. He parted his way from JD. In 1993, he formed his own party named Bihar People’s Party. He later joined hands with Samata Party.

In 1994, his wife, Lovely Anand, contested the Vaishali Lok Sabha by-elections and won. In 1995, his name emerged as the prospect of the Chief Minister’s position opposite to Lalu Yadav. His Bihar People’s Party did better in elections compared to Samata Party. However, Anand Mohan contested from three seats and got deafened on all.

In the 1996 general elections, he contested from Shivhar Lok Sabha seat. At that time, he was in jail but won the election. In 1998, he again contested the Lok Sabha elections and won. At that time, he was Rashtriya Janata Party’s candidate that had the support of Rashtriya Janata Dal.

In 1999, Anand Mohan decided to cut cords with Lalu Yadav’s RJD and joined hands with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, he got defeated by Anwarul Haque of RJD. After that, Anand Mohan’s BPP joined hands with the Congress party to contest election from Shivhar, but things did not turn well for him as Congress did not give attention to him.

Life imprisonment for the murder of Dalit IAS

Anand Mohan Singh was accused in several cases. In most of them, either the cases were dropped, or he was acquitted. In 1994, his name appeared in an issue that not only shook Bihar but the whole country. On 5th December 1994, IAS officer G Krishnaiah was first beaten by a mob and then shot dead. He was posted as District Magistrate of Gopalganj. Anand Mohan instigated the mob to attack 35-year-old Krishnaiah.

Six people, including Anand and his wife, Lovely, were charged in the case. In 2007, the Patna High Court convicted Anand Mohan and sentenced him to death. This was the first time a politician was given the death penalty. His sentence was later reduced to life imprisonment in 2008. In 2012, Anand Singh appealed in Supreme Court to reduce the sentence, but his plea was rejected.

In 2009, during a case hearing of Chattisgarh, the Supreme Court ruled that if someone is sentenced to life imprisonment, the convict must undergo a minimum of 14-years of imprisonment. The court also stated that after completion of 14-years, the convict would not be released automatically. It is believed that Anand Mohan may have to stay away from public life for many years to come.

Stronghold on Bihar from jail

Anand Mohan and Lovely Mohan got married in 1991. While being in jail, Anand managed to get his wife ticket for assembly elections from the Congress party in 2010 and a Lok Sabha ticket from Samajwadi Party in 2014. Though as per the Supreme Court’s orders, convicted criminals cannot contest elections, Anand Mohan’s dominance in Bihar is still visible.

Anand Mohan’s wife to contest election as RJD candidate from Saharsa

The political legacy of Babubali leaders in Bihar is being passed to their wives and sons. Lovely Anand is all set to contest assembly elections from Saharsa on RJD’s ticket. Earlier, it was reported that she wanted to contest election from Anand’s Saupaul seat, but Congress is fielding former MP Ranjit Ranjan from that seat. Ranjit Ranjan is the wife of five-time MP and notorious Babubali leader Pappu Yadav.

Chetan Anand, son of Anand Mohan, is contesting election from Shivhar seat on RJD’s ticket. Chetan and Lovely joined RJD in September. The rivalry between Anand Mohan and Pappu Yadav is well-known in Bihar. Because of their conflict, there had been a state of panic in the Kosi area for a very long time. It will be interesting to see whose wife gets the upper hand in the region.

The political career of Lovely Anand

Lovely made her political debut with her husband’s party BPP. She defeated Kishori Sinha, wife of former Chief Minister Satyendra Narayan Sinha, in the by-election held in the Vaishali parliamentary seat in 1994. She kept shifting her affiliation with the political parties, just like her husband. She became an MP for the first time when she won by-elections in 1994. BPP, Congress, SP, HAM, and Nitish Kumar have contested elections together in the past. This time, she will be contesting the election from the RJD ticket.

The legendary face of Bihar – Lovely Anand

There was a time when Lovely was one of the most dominating leaders in Shivhar. When Anand formed his own party, people gathered in large numbers to listen to her speeches during rallies. Even veterans like Lalu Yadav had failed to put a dent in Lovely Anand’s stature in the 1995 elections. In 2015, it was expected that Shivhar would not let Anands down.

Defeat by mere 461 votes

The results were completely different from what people had expected. Saifudeen became the unexpected winner of the election, with 44,576 votes in his kitty compared to 44,115 votes that Lovely Anand got. She lost the election by mere 461 votes in the area where her family was believed to have a stronghold in elections. There was an independent candidate who got 22 thousand votes during the 2015 elections.

Future of Anand Mohan’s political legacy in Bihar

Several questions are revolving around Anand Mohan’s relevance in Bihar Politics. Some believe that he might have lost his hold in the region. It is still unclear if all doors to victory have closed or his family may still get sympathy in his community. The answer to this confusion is both yes and no. His conviction has ended his political career and he won’t be able to contest elections for a very long time.

It is understandable that in a brutal profession like politics, sympathy and loyalty do not live long for a single leader. However, Bahubali leaders still have a brand value in Bihar. The caste plays a vital role in Bihar’s heterogeneous and factional society, which can help his wife gain some votes. If he sees a career in politics in the future, he would be well aware of the fact that his role will remain of a pawn.

He can only stir feelings of his sympathizers and gain some votes in exchange for some tears. There is a saying, “the mill of justice grinds slowly but it often grinds very finely,” and it seems appropriate in Anand Mohan’s case.

Relentless in its anti-Hindu and anti-India propaganda, terror organization ISIS has released new literature in the latest edition of its digital magazine, instigating Jihadists associated with the organisation to unleash terror in the country to “avenge Babri”. Babri was the name of the disputed structure that was standing on the Ram Janmabhoomi site in Ayodhya.

The magazine states that Muslims should take up arms and wage ‘jihad’ to take revenge against the Indian government for the Babri Masjid incident. The magazine carries pictures of Babri Masjid’s demolition and the text attached to the pictures reads: “Babri will be avenged”.

The digital propaganda magazine named ‘Voice of Hind’ is being maliciously used by the terrorist outfit to spread hatred amongst the Muslims in the country through secret telegram channels and web. In it’s newly released 9th edition, Muslims were being instigated to avenge the demolition of Babri Masjid.

ISIS magazine cites ‘doctor’ Kafeel Khan to sell its rhetorics of Islamophobia

The India-centric publication cites Uttar Pradesh’s controversial ‘doctor’ Kafeel Khan, who was booked under the NSA for making provocative comments on the CAA in the Aligarh Muslim University, to push the false rhetorics of rising Islamophobia in the country, a tool the ISIS module has been using to incite hate.

It also carries several examples of false propaganda and content related to the Citizenship Amendment Act, brought in by the Modi government to help the persecuted minorities in neighbouring Islamic nations. On the lines of its previous editions, the latest edition of the magazine also attempts to pit Muslims in the country against the BJP government at the centre. 

“Kill as many Kaffirs as you can by spreading Coronavirus”

Following its agenda to spread hate against India and Hindus, ISIS through its publication in July this year, had asked its sympathisers to kill the ‘Kaffirs’ and annihilate the disbelievers (non-Muslims) by becoming carriers of Coronavirus. The magazine had then featured the cover image of Tablighi Jamaat who attended the Nizamuddin Markaz event and spread the Chinese virus throughout the country. The magazine had reportedly praised Tablighi Jamaat and its chief Maulana Saad for spreading the Coronavirus.

The terror outfit has also urged radical Islamists to avenge the arrest of ‘activists’ from Jamia Millia Islamia who have been arrested for masterminding violence during the Delhi anti-Hindu riots.

In 2016, the terror organisation has released a video, in which its sympathisers had urged Muslims in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan to establish an Islamic Caliphate.

As per the report, the Islamic State has recommended several ways to Muslim fundamentalists to kill the disbelievers. The terror outfit has asked fellow jihadists to arm themselves with chains, ropes, and wires to choke Kaffirs to death. The magazine stated, “Keep yourselves armed at all times to never miss a chance to kill as many Kaffirs as you can. Tools like scissors and hammers can come in useful to kill the Kaffir.”

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath seems to be feeling no remorse for his sexist and misogynistic remark against Dalit BJP leader Imarti Devi. Despite being reprimanded by his party’s ex-chief Rahul Gandhi, Kamal Nath stuck to his guns and said that he will not apologise.

Insinuating that the Gandhi scion must not have understood the context in which he used the controversial term, Nath said “It is Rahul Gandhi’s opinion. I have already clarified the context in which I made that statement… Why should I apologise when I did not intend to insult anyone? If anyone felt insulted, I have already expressed regret,” reported ANI.

Kamal Nath’s statement came after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi rebuked the senior leader calling his comments unfortunate. “Kamal Nath ji is from my party but personally, I do not like the type of language that he used,” Gandhi said. “I do not appreciate it, regardless of who he is. It is unfortunate.”

A controversy had erupted after senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath in a political rally in Gwalior’s Dabra district on Sunday referred to Dalit leader from the BJP Imarti Devi as ‘item’. 

“Wo kya hai… main uska naam kyun lun… aapko mujhe starak karna chahiye tha kya item hai… (Who is she… what’s her name? You all should have warned me… what an item!),” Kamal Nath said as the crowd of Congress supporters yelled Imarti Devi’s name. 

Following Kamal Nath’s indecent misogynistic remark, BJP had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against him. The Election Commission has sought a detailed report from the chief electoral officer of Madhya Pradesh on the matter, while the National Commission of Women also sought an explanation from Nath.

Despite all this, Kamal Nath had decided to brazen it out. Instead of tendering an apology, Kamal Nath has claimed that his comment was distorted to deviate public discourse from ‘main issues’ such as joblessness.

Congress strategy of appeasement thwarted: Karnataka HC stops construction work on ‘tallest Jesus statue’ being built on government land

On Monday, the Karnataka High Court has stayed the construction work on the ‘tallest Jesus Christ statue in the world’ at Kapalabetta, located 80 KM from Bengaluru in Kanakapura taluk, Ramanagara district. The court stated in its order that work could not be carried out without its permission. The stay was imposed based on the PIL that alleged the land was allotted illegally by the government to fulfil the ‘selfish ends of two politicians’. The court has ordered Harobele Kapalabetta Abhivruddhi Trust to stop the project immediately.

Anthony Swamy and seven others had filed the petition against the construction of the statue a week ago. They stated that there is a negligible population of 2,000 Christians in the Kanakapura. 1,500 of these Christians live in Harobele and Nallahalli villages. The petition further stated that former Energy Minister D K Shivakumar and his brother DK Suresh, MP Bengaluru Rural constituency, started the process of the said installation in February 2017. They sent a note to the Commissioner of Ramanagar to grant 15 acres of land in Nallahalli village of Kanakapura taluk. It was noted in the petition that there was no demand for land from the Christian community of the region for any such installation.

The petitioner said that Harobele village already has a church, and there is no need to give 15-acres of land to the community. It was alleged that the DK brothers wanted to appease their vote bank and sowed seeds of religious disharmony in the region. “Without issuing a public notice for grant of land as per Section 17-A of the Karnataka Land Grant Rules, the Tahsildar submitted the report to the Deputy Commissioner that villagers have no objection for grant of gomal land. He also stated that there were no religious monuments on the said land, which is contrary to the claim made by D K Shivakumar that centuries-old Christian monuments were situated on Kapalabetta. The construction commenced after hurriedly obtaining permission from the local gram panchayat,” the petition further added.

Supreme Court judgment stated in the petition

The petition stated that from time to time, the Supreme Court had said that public property could not be transferred to private persons. The petitioner had asked the court to quash the order passed by the Kumaraswamy government to grant land for the statue with a concession of Rs. 49.50 lakh. The petitioner also stated that the construction violates the Forest Act and Environment (Protection) Act.

The story behind the tallest Jesus statue

On the Christmas Eve of 2019, Karnataka Congress MLA DK Shivakumar laid the foundation stone for the carving of the world’s tallest, 114 feet tall statue of Jesus Christ at Kapalibetta in Harobele village of Kanakapura taluk, Ramnagara. The reports suggested that he got the land sanctioned by the state government for the said statue. Two days later, the state government said that it would relook into the land by former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy as it was not a barren land and meant for grazing.

In January 2020, several Hindu organizations backed by BJP-RSS joined the ‘Kanakapura Chalo’ rally organized by Hindu Jagarana Vedike to oppose the construction of the statue. DK Shivakumar had claimed that villagers decided to build the statue and not him. In February, another rally was organized by RSS in which they called the statue construction a Christian conspiracy.

Captain Amarinder Singh tables resolution in Punjab Assembly to oppose Centre’s farm laws: Read details

On Tuesday, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh placed a draft resolution in the legislative assembly against the historic farm laws passed by the Modi government. 

As per reports, the resolution sought to annul the farm laws passed by the government as well as the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020. Besides, it sought for a new ordinance, which would make Minimum Support Price (MSP) a ‘stautory’ right for all farmers for procuring food grains. Through the resolution, the Punjab government demanded that food grains must be procured by the Centre through Food Corporation of India (FCI) and other agencies. The resolution expressed ‘regret’ over Centre’s supposed ‘callousness’ towards the farming community.

Essentially, the farm laws that were aimed to negate the middlemen and empower the farmers have been called ‘callous’ by Captain Amarinder Singh and his party, Congress.

Centre’s farm laws against Constitution, claims Amarinder Singh

“The Assembly is constrained to unanimously reject the three legislations and the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020,” the resolution stated…These three legislations along with the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020 are clearly against the interests of farmers and landless workers, and time-tested agriculture marketing system established not only in Punjab but also in original green revolution areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Western UP,” the resolution read.

The Punjab Chief Minister claimed, “I find it very strange what the government of India wants to do.” He added that the farm laws, passed by the Parliament were against the Indian Constitution, as agriculture falls under State subject (Entry 14 List-II). The Punjab Chief Minister informed that he had consulted several experts before signing the draft resolution on Monday at 9:30 pm. He had asked all parties to rise above ‘political interests’ and support the resolution.

Punjab Congress introduces 3 bills to counter Centre’s farm laws

He had also opposed the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2020, which seeks to eliminate tariff subsidy in tariff and introduce tariff structure. The resolution stated, “These legislations are a direct attack, and use of subterfuge to encroach upon the functions and the powers of the States, as enshrined in the country’s Constitution.”

Besides, the Punjab Congress government had also introduced 3 farm bills, namely, the Essential Commodities (Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment) Bill 2020, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment Bill 2020, t, and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services (Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment) Bill 2020.

Three bills introduced by the Modi government

The three bills introduced by the Modi government in the Parliament were: The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020, The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020, and The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020.

Earlier, these reforms were announced as part of the third tranche of the economic package announced under Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan. The new bills, when passed by the Parliament will give effect to the amendments proposed to the Essential Commodities Act and bring in two new central laws on trading and marketing of farm produce in the country.

The objective of the three proposed laws is to make way for creating the Modi government’s ambitious vision of ‘One India, One Agriculture Market’. The law intends to end the monopoly of Agriculture Produce Market Committees (APMCs) in carrying out the trade of farm produce in the country and cut out the middle man, thereby empowering the farmers. 

Punjab Youth Congress opposes the Farm laws

Last month, as a part of the protest against Centre’s farm laws, Punjab Youth Congress workers brought a tractor on a truck and set it on fire shouting Bhagat Singh slogans near India Gate in New Delhi. Prior to this, Congress had gone on to support the nationwide strike called by the Bharatiya Kisan Union and several other organisations on July 25.

Most of the protests were seen in Punjab, where the ruling Congress government is joining the protests. Although the bills bring much-needed changes to the farm laws that are extremely beneficial for the farmers, which were proposed by the Congress party also when they were in power, now they are opposing the bills for political purposes. Going by its penchant the Congress party has also been using the social media to spread canards against the Narendra Modi government.

UP Police team returns empty-handed again after Punjab govt puts mafia don Mukhtar Ansari on ‘bed-rest’ for 3 months

The Uttar Pradesh police team, which had visited Punjab’s Ropad jail to bring back the notorious gangster and former Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mukhtar Ansari to Uttar Pradesh will have to return empty-handed for the fourth time now.

According to reports, Mukhtar Ansari has claimed ailments ranging from ‘depression’ to diabetes. A medical board constituted by the Punjab government has ‘evaluated’ the health condition of Ansari and has advised 3 months of ‘bed-rest’ to him.

When the 50-member team reached Punjab’s Ropad jail with court orders to bring back the dreaded gangster, the jail administration reportedly produced Ansari’s medical certificate saying that he cannot be released and once again, Mukhtar Ansari managed to evade the UP police.

It is being said that three previous attempts of the UP police to bring back Ansari have failed in the past, as he kept making excuses.

The gangster-turned-politician has been in Punjab jail since January 2019. Ansari reportedly got himself shifted to Punjab jail fearing threat to his life in UP jails.

50-member Uttar Pradesh police team was to bring back Mukhtar Ansari from Punjab to Mau

A 50-member Uttar Pradesh police team was to bring back Ansari from Punjab to Mau in Uttar Pradesh on October 21 in connection with the investigation into a case of fraud and Arms Act filed against him in January.

Mau Superintendent of Police (SP) Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan said: “Warrant B has been procured by the district police from the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in a case of sections 419 (cheating by impersonation), 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 467, 468 (forgery), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 120B (criminal conspiracy) of IPC and 30 Arms Act, registered on 5 January with Dakshintola police station.”

He said that the Court of Judicial Magistrate accepted the plea of the police to bring Mukhtar Ansari here from the jail on Warrant B on 21 October.

Mukhtar Ansari’s Congress link

Mukhtar Ansari’s endearment for Congress is not unknown. Not many people know that notorious gangster Mukhtar Ansari is the nephew of India’s former Vice President and Congress senior member Hamid Ansari. Pertinently, in 2014, Ansari had backed Congress candidate against Modi in Varanasi. Quami Ekta Dal, led by founder Mukhtar Ansari’s brother Afzal Ansari, had extended its support for Congress party candidate for Varanasi Lok Sabha seat with an aim to defeat Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi who was contesting the elections from the holy town.

Yogi Adityanath continues to crack the whip against the notorious gangster

The Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath has been cracking the whip on the economic empire and armory of the jailed don. Last month, the process of confiscating the property of Mukhtar’s close aide Meraj Ansari had begun. Meraj Ansari is absconding after a case under section 419, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC was lodged against him for committing fraud to procure arms licences.

Meanwhile, large-scale action has been taken against Mukhtar’s family members and henchmen in different districts of the state, including Lucknow. Illegally acquired property by the don has been demolished and arms licenses procured by his men have been cancelled. After the demolition of illegal property, Mukhtar Ansari has been booked by Ghazipur police under the Uttar Pradesh Gangster and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act. His wife Afsha Ansari and two brothers Anwar Shehzad and Sharjil Raza have also been charged under the Act for allegedly being involved in criminal activities like land grabbing, embezzlement, etc

Former adviser to Manmohan Singh, Pankaj Pachauri brazens it out after being caught spreading fake news about Indian trade with China

The PIB called out Pankaj Pachauri, Editor-in-Chief and Founder of Go News and formerly the communications adviser to Manmohan Singh during the latter’s Prime Ministerial tenure, on Tuesday for spreading fake news against the government regarding trade between India and China. Pankaj Pachauri claimed that Indian imports from China had increased by 27% at a time when there’s tension between the two countries at the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

PIB said on its fact-check account on Twitter, “Pankaj Pachauri has claimed in a #Tweet that India’s imports from China have increased by 27% during April-August. This claim is #Fake. India’s imports from China decreased by 27.63% whereas India’s exports to China increased by 27% during April-August.”

It was reported in September that Indian imports from China declined by 27.63% during April-August as compared to the same period last year. “India’s imports from China have declined by 27.63 per cent during April-August, 2020-21 over the corresponding period of the previous year,” Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. Simultaneously, exports increased by 27% during the same period.

Pankaj Pachauri had made the claim in a tweet attempting to emulate poetic ingenuity, however, he ended up sacrificing factual accuracy in pursuit of it. He said, “While India shows “red eyes” to China at LAC and invites Quad navies to encircle “the Dragon” India’s imports from China increase 27% between April-August. Business of politics do not come in the way of real business. Never.”

Pankaj Pachauri is yet to withdraw his tweet. Instead, he has quoted the fake news tweet with a comment saying, “Corrigendum: A government functionary pointed out that its exports not imports which increased 27% April onwards. The point is that trade with China is increasing while we have an eyeball to eyeball situation at LAC. And China’s share in our trade has also increased meanwhile.”

Thus, quite clearly, the ‘journalist’ has decided to brazen it out despite being caught spreading fake news.

One of the Twitter users speculated that PM Modi would commemorate the 25 years of iconic Bollywood film ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’(DDLJ).

Similar sentiments were also shared by another Twitter user, who said PM Modi is feeling proud of Shah Rukh Khan and DDLJ’s record and he is going to share the same happiness today with the nation in his announcement.

Another Twitter user amusingly noted that PM Modi would announce a relief package for those who lost their money on CSK in this year’s IPL. The Chennai Super Kings are having a dreadful IPL this year and they are placed at the bottom of the table.

Similarly, after strings of CSK losses, another Twitter commented if PM Modi will be announcing Dhoni’s retirement from the IPL.
