“Truth has two sides”: Shikara director Vidhu Vinod Chopra dismisses Kashmiri Pandit woman’s criticism of watering down Islamic terror in the movie

The much-awaited movie Shikara, directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is out in the theatres today. While it was being expected that the movie would depict what happened to Kashmiri Pandits all those years ago, the deep-seated anti-Hindu bigotry among Kashmiri Muslims, the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and the exodus and the resulting anger and the radicalisation that made Kashmir the land of jihad, but, it has somehow left many viewers disappointed.

Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in a placid response to a Kashmiri Hindu woman, criticising him for watering down Islamic terror in the valley in his movie, said that the “truth has two sides”. Everyone has his own perspective and may have different opinions, said the filmmaker.

The Director was responding to a Kashmiri Hindu woman, Divya Razdan, who confronted the filmmaker after watching the movie, which promised to do justice to the emotions that have shaped the anger of Kashmiri Pandits.

Divya breaks down and takes on director Vidhu Vinod Chopra for sticking to the safe secular stance throughout the movie, contrary to what the trailer of the movie promised. She accused Chopra of watering down Islamic terror in the valley and instead, showing Kashmiri Pandits as the malefactors. In a video clip shared on Twitter, Divya is seen slamming director Vidhu Vinod Chopra on the selective representation of Kashmiri Pandits in his movie.

Castigating Chopra for making a mediocre and disappointing movie, Divya says that you have not shown Islamic radicalisation, nor have you shown the suicides. “I feel like crying after seeing such a mediocre movie which is devoid of facts”, said Divya.

“My entire community was killed because of Islamic radicalisation in the valley. But you chose not to show the Jihadist slogans raised, the rape and murders of Kashmiri Hindu’s in the hands of the radicalized Jihadists”, said Divya.

She angrily accuses Chopra of playing politics. “You be happy with your commercialisation, but as a Kashmiri Pandit, I disown your movie”, said the visibly upset viewer.

Read- With the ‘Shikara’ trailer out, expected guilt tripping of Hindus for merely sharing the story of their Genocide has started

Responding to Divya, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who was also present at the screening, dismissed her allegations saying that every truth has two sides. Almost mocking the woman, he said that he will now make sequel 2 for her. Giving a very weird justification for his claim about truth having multiple facades, he said, “every truth can be viewed from this side or that side, from the top or from the bottom. It is not that truth becomes true only when it is viewed from one side. Everyone has their own viewpoints, like when drinks water, or milk or tea, some gets more intoxicated from tea while others get more intoxicated from milk, but the tea remains milk.”

When OpIndia got in touch with Divya Razdan, she lambasted the filmmaker saying the movie was an eyewash and a disaster. She said that the director has misled the viewers by not even touching upon the topic of Islamic radicalisation in the valley, which was the main cause for the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits. Instead, the filmmakers have portrayed the Kashmiri Hindus as communalists, thundered the irked viewer.

Divya further said that she is completely disappointed because the makers of the movie, including director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, writer Rahul Pandita, and even some journalists like Aditya Raj Kaul had given the viewers a completely different impression with the trailer of the movie. They told the whole world that the movie is on the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and the exodus but in the movie, neither genocide was shown nor exodus, exclaimed Divya.

Talking about a particular scene in the movie where a Kashmiri Hindu is shot, Divya said that “it appeared that the bullet was shot on its own. Purposely the shooter was not shown in the frame”, said Divya claiming that the “entire movie is a big disaster for a Kashmiri Hindu cause, because, the movie does not show our cause and we Kashmiri Hindus unitedly disown the movie”, said Divya.

Divya divulged that the director has tried to internationalise the matter by showing that the hero, who is a Kashmiri Pandit is writing letters to the American President. Divya accuses the director of maligning the Kashmiri Pandits. She says that Vidhu Vinod Chopra, by giving this false twist to the movie, depicts that we (Kashmiri Pandits) did not trust the Indian Army and our government and sought help from America. Which she says is completely untrue. She accuses the makers of distorting and twisting facts and making a purely commercial movie which is not based on facts.

In another video, a viewer, just out of the theatre shares a similar opinion. He also said that the movie was mediocre. The viewer said that Chopra’s mother, whom the director dedicated the movie too, would be proud that her son has made a good commercial movie but won’t be happy since he has not made a righteous movie, based on facts. The viewer here also talks about the hero of the movie writing to the American President, which he also believes is a clear violation and distortion of facts.

Stating a historical fact that after Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad made a clarion call saying “Islam Khatra mein hain” that Hazratbul said “Kafiron Kashmir chodo”, the viewer said that the cause was not political nor International, but religion was the main cause, which Chopra fails to depict in the movie.

Yet another viewer held the opinion that not even two per cent of what actually happened to the Kashmiri Hindus in the valley has been touched upon in the movie. The makers of the movie have empathized more with the Jihadist than the Kashmiri Pandits, claims the viewer.

In three decades, the real story of Kashmiri Pandits has never been told. History became a legend, legend became myth and in three decades, the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits was turned into a voluntary exodus from the valley. The denial of Islamic bigotry and genocides of Hindus is not a recent phenomenon. It has been an ongoing project since the very inception of the Indian State.

Shikara was expected to be the first real effort by the entertainment industry to bust this organized campaign of genocide denial, but unfortunately, the viewers have come out with a completely adverse opinion about the movie.

Delhi: 2 Bike-borne assailants fired shots in air near an Anti-CAA protest in Jafrabad

0

On Friday, two bike-borne assailants fired shots in the air, roughly 400 metres from an anti-CAA protest in Delhi’s Jafrabad area. Reportedly, no individual had been harmed during the Jafrabad shooting. Several protestors alleged it to be an attempt to intimidate them.

An Anti-CAA protestor by the name of Nihal Ashraf alleged that two men fired three rounds in the air and escaped. “They were on a scooter without a number plate, unlike the Jamia incident in which the vehicle used by those who fired had a number plate. They two men fired after moving a few metres ahead of our protest site,” he claimed.

People had been protesting for close to a month in Jafrabad. When the Jafrabad shooting took place, the police immediately rushed to the scene. The police have claimed that the incident was unrelated to the Anti-CAA protests and rather a case of personal enmity.

This is not the first time that such an incident came to light. On January 28, Mohammed Luqman, with alleged links to AAP, was seen brandishing a gun at Shaheen Bagh. A juvenile Gulshan (name changed) also open fired a pellet gun at an Islamist Anti-CAA protestor at Jamia Millia University on January 30. On February 1, an AAP member Kapil Gujjar fired three shots in the air at Shaheen Bagh and said, “Hamare desh me Kisi Aur ki nahi chalegi, bas Hinduon ki chalegi (Only the writ of Hindus shall run in India, no one else’s)”

Fact Check: Did China seek court approval to kill 20,000 coronavirus patients to stop the spread of the infection?

0

A story has been doing the rounds on the Internet that China has asked for court approval to execute 20,000 coronavirus patients to stop the further spread of the disease.

As per an article published on City News, the Supreme People’s Court in China was expected to give an approval on Friday to the mass killing of 20,000 people contracted with the coronavirus. It also said that China is rapidly losing its health workers to the novel virus, adding that at least 20 health workers contract the virus daily.

City News report on coronavirus

As the disease is creating a worldwide scare and concern, soon the ‘news’ report got viral as WhatsApp messages and got widely shared on social media.

Another website called Corruption Reporters also published the so-called ‘news’.

coronavirus fake news

However, the hoax about the Chinese government priming itself to kill 20,000 coronavirus patients is fake news. China has not made any such request to stop the further spread of coronavirus. The City News has a reputation for carrying junk stories. In the past, it had published various stories which were proven to be false and misleading.

In another instance, it had published another hoax claiming that a pub in Pittsburg was shut down after it was found that it was killing its customers and cooking their meat.

However, the communist government’s dubious Human rights track record and its notorious reputation to use brute force against its own population have only served to intensify the unfounded rumours about the court approval being sought by the Chinese government to eliminate the scourge of coronavirus.

Of late, there has been a precipitous rise in the number of people contracted with the coronavirus pandemic. Deaths due to the fatal virus have gone past the 600-mark in China and at least 31000 people have been reported as infected by it in China. Besides, the whistleblower doctor who attempted to warn the public of a new potential virus but was reprimanded by the Chinese authorities too had fallen victim to the contagion.

Responding to the exacerbating crisis, China has intensified the lockdown of Wuhan, the city from where coronavirus outbreak is said to have begun. The Chinese officials have directed patients to hospitals, to halt the progress of the deadly virus. Sports stadiums, exhibition centres and building complexes are turned into make-shift hospitals for housing thousands of people contracted with coronavirus.

Delhi Elections: A day before polling, Arvind Kejriwal invokes the Hindu card but misquotes Gita

In a last-ditch attempt to woo Hindu votaries of Delhi, the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party brought up a Hindu card to take a sly dig at their ideological opponents-BJP. Grossly misquoting the Hindu scripture Bhagavad Gita, a timorous Kejriwal today said that it is written in Gita that a true Hindu is brave and never runs away from the field. Kejriwal stated that he had challenged Amit Shah for an open debate but the latter “ran away from the battlefield’.

There are two aspects of the assertions made by Kejriwal which unfailingly prove that the Aam Aadmi Party chief has scant knowledge about Hinduism and its hallowed Gods. The first one is regarding the veracity of the claim Kejriwal made while adducing Bhagavat Gita.

Throughout the 700 Sanskrit verses in Bhagavad Gita, the word “Hindu” has not been used anywhere. The Gita, and other ancient Hindu scriptures, talk about Dharma, but they do not mention the word Hindu, as this name was given much later to the Sanatan Dharma.

The Hindu scripture of Bhagavad Gita serves as a window for humanity into a life based on faith and devotion. It serves as a perfect guide for those racked with moral dilemmas and provides a vast array of philosophical insights into various strands of the materialistic world. However, such a spiritually edifying scripture was distorted by the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for scoring political brownie points.

The other aspect of Kejriwal’s assertions proves that the AAP party chief is oblivious of the teachings of Gita as he claims that Gita forbids one to retreat from war. Among many reasons for which Lord Krishna was famous, one of them was that he was a master war-strategist. In Gujarat, Lord Krishna is revered as “Ranchod”, for his strategic retreat from Mathura to Dwarka and saving the lives of Mathura residents. Ran means battlefield and chod means abandon, and Ranchod means one who had abandoned the battlefield.

Krishna’s enemy Jarasandha had taken a vow to destroy Mathura a nd decimate Yadav clan. It is then that Lord Krishna decided to shift his capital from Mathura to Dwarka, saving his people from the impending catastrophe while earning the title of “Ranchod”. Jarasandha was eventually killed by Bheema during the great war of Kuruskhetra. This episode between Lord Krishna and his enemy Jarasandha reinforces the belief that the conventional way is not always the right option, sometimes one has to step back to defeat the crisis. A temple is also dedicated to “Ranchhodrai” i.e Lord Krishna in the Dakor town of Gujarat.

Congress’ Maharashtra ally Shiv Sena hails Arvind Kejriwal ahead of Delhi elections in its mouthpiece

On Friday, the Shiv Sena in an editorial in Saamana, the party mouthpiece, praised Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his “ideal work” despite hurdles allegedly created by the Centre.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, The Sena mouthpiece hit out at the BJP for ‘polarising the society’ along religious lines for electoral gain.

The editorial claimed that Kejriwal has emerged as a strong contender, despite the BJP sending the Chief Ministers of all the BJP-ruled states and the cabinet ministers to the battlefield. It also asked the Union Government to implement the ‘Delhi model’ in other states of the country.

“Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have put their lives at stake on Delhi elections after they lost Maharashtra and after a crushing defeat in Jharkhand. Nothing wrong if they want to win Delhi, but despite an army of 200 MPs, BJP CMs and the entire Modi cabinet, it seems that Kejriwal is weighing heavy on all others,” the Saamana editorial read.

“Kejriwal is seeking votes on the basis of work done in five years. This is a new experiment in the country’s politics. This should be welcomed beyond the party line,” stated the editorial. It also added that Kejriwal has done ideal work despite ‘regular obstacles’ created by the central government.

The editorial also observed, “There is no presence of Congress in Delhi. The BJP is trying to make lotuses bloom in a dried-up lake. But Kejriwal is seeking votes on the basis of his performance in the last five years. This is a different experiment in the politics of the country, which should be welcomed.”

The comments came just one day ahead of Delhi polls that are scheduled to take place on February 8. The Congress Party is an ally of the Shiv Sena in the newly formed Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Instead of backing its own ally for the Delhi Assembly elections, Shiv Sena has conceded that the Congress party has ‘no presence’ in Delhi.

Pakistan court rules forced abduction, conversion and marriage of minor girl is valid as per Sharia law as she had her first period

0

In Pakistan, the Sindh court dismissed a petition to overturn a forced marriage and conversion of Huma Younus, a 14-year-old Christian girl from Karachi. The court stated that the marriage to her captor, Abdul Jabbar is valid under Islamic law since a girl can marry after she has had her first period.

Huma’s parents have been saying that the marriage is invalid, as the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act forbids marriage under the age of 18. But the judges, Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Irshad Ali Shah, ruled that as per Sharia law, even if Huma was a minor, the marriage between her and her abductor Abdul Jabbar would be valid as she had already had her first menstrual cycle.

Huma was kidnapped from her home in Karachi in October last year when her parents were away. She was reportedly taken to Dera Ghazi Khan, a city in the Punjab province of Pakistan, about 600 Kms from her home. A few days after her conversion, the family of the girl had received conversion papers and marriage certificate. However, Her mother Nagina Younas had claimed that the papers are fake, as it takes several hours to reach where she was taken but the date of conversion on the papers was the same as the day of her abduction.

Her lawyer, Tabassum said that the parents have been crying constantly because the court justified the violation of their daughter’s body by citing Islamic Sharia law. The factor of age plays a role since forced conversions are not illegal in Pakistan. While Huma’s ‘husband’ claims this to be a marriage based on consent and Huma being an adult, her parents state that she was born on 22nd May, 2005.

The lawyer stressed that there have been attempts to delay the case by the authorities. “The next hearing in the case is set for March as the judge gave police more time for medical tests to determine the girl’s age”. The lawyer added that they have provided all necessary documents from the town hall and the church regarding her age but fears for Huma’s safety as no forcibly converted girl has returned back to their families.

Tabassum also said that Huma was not presented in the court during the hearing although she was scheduled to testify in the case. She said, “Huma was supposed to be present but did not show up. Why didn’t they show her to us? Why don’t they want her to testify?”

The family is concerned as the lawyer added that if pressure isn’t added on her captors, statistics show that either the girl is forced into prostitution or in the hands of the human traffickers.

In the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the lawyer added that its a shame Christians are not recognized in the country despite contributing to its development. As per International Christian Concern, there have been 34 incidents of abduction, forced conversions, rape and assault against children, women in the first nine months of 2019.

Pakistan is notoriously infamous for its persecution of both religious and ethnic minorities within their own country. The forceful conversion programs have often been unleashed against the minorities especially Christians, Sikhs and Hindus living in Pakistan with utmost brutality.

Infant’s death was ‘qurbani’ in the ‘jihad’: Shocking video emerges where anti-CAA protestor justifies using children for protests

A shocking video has gone viral across social media platforms in which kids are seen holding posters of the four-month-old infant Mohammed Jahan, who lost his life after suffering from severe cold and congestion during anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh.

In a video posted by Twitter user @ek_aalu_bonda, small kids were seen holding posters of four-month-old kid Mohammed Jahan. Shockingly, one of the protests of the event can be heard in the background claiming that the death of the four-month-old kid was nothing but a ‘Qurbani’ or sacrifice for the anti-CAA movement.

The small kids, who seem to have no idea regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, have been used as a ‘prop’ at these protests, where they held posters in support of the deceased kid.

In the above video, one can hear a man in the background say that this sacrifice, this war, this jihad for the country, community has been prescribed by Allah in the Quran. The man further states that Allah has given us a chance to put up sacrifices for the sake of the country.

The shocking event was allegedly organised at one of the anti-CAA protests. However, OpIndia could not independently confirm where the video was taken from anti-CAA protest site at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.

In one of the most heart-wrenching of recent times, four-month-old infant Mohammed Jahan lost his life after suffering from severe cold and congestion during anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh. However, Nazia, the mother of the four-month-old infant Mohammad Jahan, is unapologetic about her son’s death but instead has chosen to ignore his death and rejoin the ‘protests’ at the Shaheen Bagh.

The mother, who had brought her child to the protest site exposed her son to severe cold eventually leading to his death has no regret whatsoever. She has instead blamed the Modi government for her son’s death and has vowed to continue to the protest and said she is ready to sacrifice her other two children as well.

Following the incident, there was shock and anger against the parents of the kid for allowing her one of their children to die. Netizens and citizens asked how could a mother enable her children to lose life for a petty political cause. What shocked the most is the casual reaction of the mother regarding her son’s death.

It has emerged as an island nation with its own rules: Gunja Kapoor who was hounded by a mob at Shaheen Bagh

Political analyst Gunja Kapoor, who was recently hounded by an unruly mob baying for her blood at Shaheen Bagh, took to YouTube to narrate her ordeal. Sharing a video on her YouTube channel, Right Narrative, Kapoor narrates how the entry at Shaheen Bagh requires you to show ‘documents’.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qBOvU1tDZU]

Gunja says that she visited Jamia as well as Shaheen Bagh and the way she was heckled and mistreated at both these places, she is forced to believe that the only reason behind this ill-treatment is that she does not possess a ‘visa’ for both these places. Going to Shaheen Bagh, which has metamorphosed into an island nation of sort without adequate references and a ‘visa’ of sorts can get you lynched, she said.

“I am not Sharjeel Imam who made a clarion call for Muslims to cut-off Assam from the rest of India through his anti-national speech, nor am I one of those anti-nationals who under the guise of being an Indian raise ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans” or ask for ‘Jinnah wali azaadi’,” Kapoor says in her video.

It is pertinent to note here that the protest at Shaheen Bagh, which has been raging on for weeks has exposed itself to be deeply Islamic and anti-Hindu in nature with posters like F*ck Hindutva that distorted the Om symbol to several slogans like ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Jinnah wali Azaadi’, that exposed the Islamist mobs’ deep-seated hatred for Hindus.

Read: NGO linked to George Soros, who had declared war against ‘Nationalists’ and PM Modi, calls for people to join Shaheen Bagh protests

She then goes on to explain why she felt the need to wear a burqa to Shaheen Bagh. She says that she chose to wear one because she felt insecure due to past experiences and wanted to keep safe. She recollects how a few days back, a woman journalist for Republic TV, who just went to do her job, was heckled and assaulted at Shaheen Bagh.

Gunja divulged that she also met a similar fate at Jamia when she went there with senior journalist Bhupendra Chaubey for a debate. The leftist and Islamist mob there asked them several questions like where have you come from? who has sent you here? etc and heckled and assaulted them, recollects Gunja.

Gunja says that she is shocked that at both these places (Jamia and Shaheen Bagh) she was repeatedly asked as to ‘who has sent you here’, which reveals that these so-called ‘peaceful’ protests are not voluntary or organic as being claimed, but a well organised and sponsored event.

“If it is ‘voluntary’ protest how are we being asked that who has sent you’ll here?”, wonders Gunja. “If you have not been referred by any of their reliable sources or dare to enter without a ‘visa’ you will be looked at suspiciously by the women protestors at Shaheen Bagh who would term you a trespasser,” says Gunja.

Gunja says she was not only heckled and assaulted by the women at Shaheen Bagh but her Aadhaar card, mobile phone and cash was also snatched away from her. Gunja divulges that for one hour she kept pleading to call the police but the women there were hell-bent on not calling them as they said they “do not trust the police”. They told Gunja that they cannot hand her over to the police as they do not trust them, recalls Gunja.

Reportedly, the mob had got angry at Gunja for wearing a burqa while attending the protest. They had objected against Gunja wearing a burqa and trying to shoot videos in Shaheen Bagh. The lady protestors at the site, slapped Gunja several times, dragged by her hair, heckled her, forced her to chant Islamic slogans, claiming that she had disgraced the Burkha by wearing it to the protest site.

Extremely disturbed by the savagery perpetrated against her, Gunja recalls that the women protestors pounced at her and if it hadn’t been for the Delhi police anything could have happened to her. She says she kept begging to call the police but the women there refused to listen to her plea. Almost after an hour when the police came to know about the incident they rushed there and somehow rescued her, says Gunja.

UK court refuses extradition of couple who had got their adopted son murdered in India for Insurance money, as it will breach their human rights

0

The British judiciary has denied the possibility of extradition of an Indian couple accused of murdering their adopted son in India for the insurance payout stating that the likelihood of life in jail without parole would breach their human rights.

The couple is accused of allegedly hiring a hitman to kill 11-year-old Gopal and grab the insurance payout. According to the confession made by one of the hitmen, Britain’s chief magistrate rule stated that there is strong evidence to convict them of Gopal’s murder but they managed to evade extradition as justice Dingemans upheld the refusal to extradite the couple on the grounds that they face a punishment of life imprisonment without parole in India on the charge of double murder.

“This would be ‘inhuman and degrading treatment’, breaching Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights and making their extradition unlawful,” the order denying extradition of the couple read.

The ruling drew ire from a wide spectrum of people. Conservative MP Tim Loughton, who sits on the Commons home affairs select committee, expressed his anguish over the travesty of justice, emphatically asking, “Do we really want suspected child killers roaming the streets of London? This is undoubtedly a heinous crime and I believe many people would agree that the couple should be given harshest punishment if they are found guilty. It is up to the Indian legal system to decide on the appropriate penalty and we should not be standing in the way of justice being served for the victims.”

David Green, belonging to the Civitas democracy think-tank, said that it is a little extraordinary and unjust to not assist a friendly, Commonwealth country in ensuring justice in a case like this. He also added that if this crime had been committed in the United Kingdom, a whole life sentence may have been a sentencing option.

Arti Dhir, 55, and her husband Kaval Raijada, 30, are charged for conspiring an alleged plot to kill 11-year-old Gopal Sejani to receive a windfall insurance amount of £150,000.

In 2015, the duo from West London had adopted the 11-year-old as their after travelling to Keshod in Gujarat. Advertisements were published in local newspapers, promising they would take a child to live a better life in London if their application was successful.

The couple met Gopal who was living in penury with his elder sister and her husband. His sister and her husband agreed to the adoption and started preparing adoption papers. However, the Indian police claim that the duo had a sinister plan in mind on the pretext of adopting a poverty-stricken child.

The police officials claim that soon after Gopal’s adoption, Dhir took out an insurance policy of £150,000 in Gopal’s name which would payout in 10 years or in case of his death. Dhir had reportedly paid the premium of £15,000 twice.

According to Superintendent of Junagadh Police, Saurab Singh, ‘After a few days, she took out an insurance policy in his name. It was a big amount and she was well aware of the fact that in the event of Gopal’s death, she would be massively rewarded by the Insurance company.”

Shortly after meeting with Gopal and agreeing to adopt him, the couple returned to London and Gopal stayed in Gujarat while his Visa papers were being prepared.

Later in 2017, Gopal was kidnapped by two bike-borne men, stabbed and abandoned at a roadside. His brother-in-law, Mr Kardani, who tried to defend him was also attacked by the assailants. Both of them succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The police had caught Nitish Mund, one of the assailants, who admitted that he was paid by Raijada, to take down the kid. Investigations found that Raijada transferred money to Mund shortly before Gopal was killed. The insurance money was not paid to Arti Dhir after the revelations by police in India.

Arti Dhir and Kaval Raijada were arrested by UK police in 2017 after a red cornder notice was issued by Interpol on India’s request. They couple can still be tried in UK as the alleged plot was hatched in UK, if the cops there investigate the case, the court said while refusing their extradition.

Congress MP rushes to manhandle minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in parliament, BJP calls it ‘dande maro’ mentality in action

On Friday, Congress MP from Tamil Nadu Manickam Tagore, attempted to manhandle Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in the Parliament, after the latter condemned Rahul Gandhi’s “hit with sticks” remark against PM Narendra Modi. Following an uproar in the Parliament, the Lower House was adjourned till 2 pm.

Dr. Harshvardan stated, “I want to condemn in no uncertain words the outlandish language he (Rahul Gandhi) has used against the Prime Minister of the country.”

He added that it took him by surprise that Rahul Gandhi made such disparaging comments despite the fact that his father, Rajiv Gandhi, was a former Prime Minister of the country. He emphasized that the House must unequivocally condemn his statements. At that point, Manickam Tagore could be seen approaching the Union Health Minister.

The Former Congress President had remarked on Feb 6 in an election rally, “Ye jo Narendra Modi bhashan de raha hai, 6 mahine baad ye ghar se bahar nahi nikal payega. Hindustan ke yuva isko aisa danda marenge”

It loosely translates as “This Narendra Modi is giving speeches now but he won’t be able to step out of his house after 6 months. The youth of India will beat him with sticks (over the issue of unemployment).”

This drew the ire of several BJP members, including Jagdambika Pal who labelled the attack as “an unfortunate event in democracy”

The Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Prahlad Joshi, did not mince any words and was quick to point out the hooliganism culture and “frustration” brewing within the Congress party.

Rahul Gandhi however, took to Twitter to call the ruckus “orchestrated” despite his party member trying to physically assault the BJP’s Cabinet Minister.

He also claimed that the Prime Minister was clueless about solving India’s unemployment crisis and that he was being prevented from asking questions to the current political dispensation. Gandhi alleged that the uproar in Parliament was an attempt to protect Narendra Modi.

Tagore, however, has claimed that he had rushed to the well of the house to stop dr Harshvardhan from making an ‘unrelated statement’ and answer the starred question raised by Rahul Gandhi. Tagore has also claimed that he was himself manhandled by BJP leaders, especially Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who allegedly threatened to kill him.

On Thursday, PM Narendra Modi took potshots at Rahul Gandhi for his “Dande jibe” and remarked that he will do more Surya Namaskar asana henceforth to make his back stronger to face abuses.
