Shiv Sena toes NCP’s line by seeking a review on FIR against ‘protestor’ who held ‘Free Kashmir’ poster

A day after an FIR was registered by Maharashtra police against ‘protestor’ Mehak Mirza Prabhu for pushing anti-India agenda by holding up a ‘Free Kashmir’ poster at the Gateway of India in Mumbai, Maharashtra Home Minister and NCP leader Anil Deshmukh has backtracked and said he would review the FIR against the accused.

According to a Times Of India report, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh speaking to the media said that prima facie holding “Free Kashmir” poster did not look like the accused had any “anti-national intentions”. He also said that his government would review the FIR and stated that he has asked the police for a report on the investigation.

“Prima facie it doesn’t look like she had any anti-national intentions, so I will be reviewing the FIR. I have also asked the police for a report on the investigations,” Deshmukh said. He also said police will check Mehak’s antecedents before deciding on the future course of action.

“We want to know where she got the banner from and what she meant by ‘Free Kashmir’. We know the curbs imposed in Kashmir today, and she may even be talking about those,” Deshmukh said.

Reportedly, the government has also asked the police to submit a report on the FIRs filed against other students, including Umar Khalid. Two FIRs were lodged against Khalid and others, and one against ABVP members, for unlawful assembly.

Interestingly, the Shiv Sena seems to be toeing NCP’s line in seeking a review of FIR against Mehak Mirza Prabhu, who held anti-India posters during the protest in Mumbai against the alleged violence on JNU students.

On Thursday, the Shiv Sena, in its mouthpiece Saamana had backed the accused despite the secessionist placard during the Sunday protest in Mumbai against the mob violence at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University. Shiv Sena’s excuse to seeking a review against Mehak Mirza Prabhu comes from the fact that the accused is a ‘Mumbaikar Marathi woman’.

“A Mumbaikar Marathi woman expressed the pain of Kashmiris silently through this poster. The opposition feels this is sedition. There can’t be a dirtier example of irresponsibility,” the Saamana editorial said.

Earlier, the ‘secular’ Shiv Sena had also supported the accused saying it did not find anything wrong with these protests and downplayed the whole incident. Shiv Sena’s firebrand Shayari expert Sanjay Raut had stated that he has come to know that the ‘Free Kashmir’ posters did not mean actually ‘Free Kashmir’ but the accused only wanted freedom from restrictions of internet services, mobile services and other issues.

Shiv Sena leader and Thackeray-scion Aaditya Thackeray had also dismissed the ‘Free Kashmir’ placard at the protests and said that we need to “look at the larger picture”.

Reportedly, Deshmukh is under pressure from senior leaders of the party after the FIRs were registered. Senior NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal has demanded that the FIR against Mehak and other protestors like ultra-left wing protestor Umar Khalid should be taken back.

Bhujbal had said, “There is a difference between Free Kashmir and Azad Kashmir. Everyone knows there is an internet ban in Kashmir and political leaders are under house arrest. The girl has given an explanation. I think the FIRs against the girl and the other protesters were a mistake, and my demand is they should be scrapped after a review”.

Another NCP leader said the action against the girl and other protesters was like toeing the BJP’s line. “They should have reviewed everything before filing the FIR. There should be a difference between this (Maha Vikas Aghadi) government and the BJP government. We should be on the students’ side,” he said.

On Wednesday, the Colaba police had recorded the statement of Mehek Mirza Prabhu. Reportedly, the accused had clarified her stand that by hosting the ‘free Kashmir’ placard, she meant to talk about freedom of expression and the basic constitutional rights of Kashmiris.

Earlier, representatives of the group ‘Mumbai Against CAA’ had also met the Home Minister and Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad to request them to withdraw FIRs.

Siding with ‘Free Kashmir’ through its mouthpiece Saamna: Shiv Sena 2.0

Shiv Sena through today’s editorial in its mouthpiece Samana attacked former CM of Maharashtra and current leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis for condemning the ‘free Kashmir’ posters flashed at Gateway of India in the recent protests.

This editorial has come in support of the girl, Mehak Prabhu Mirza who was seen holding the ‘Free Kashmir’ poster at the protest held at Mumbai’s Gateway of India against violence in JNU. The editorial says that Fadnavis was so impatient that before this girl explained what she meant by ‘free Kashmir’ Fadnavis concluded that it was for Kashmir’s secession from India.

Shiv Sena through this editorial also suggests BJP and Fadnavis go for counselling. This editorial supports the claims that the ‘Free Kashmir’ posters meant removing the restrictions on the internet and other communication services in Kashmir.

Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna Editorial siding with Free Kashmir poster

The editorial says that Mehek, a Marathi young woman expressed the pain of Kashmiri people silently through this poster. The editorial criticises Fadnavis and BJP for calling this act seditious and says that this is an example of how irresponsible the Fadnavis led the opposition in Maharashtra is.

The editorial says that Modi-Bhakts are discarding every citizen who is fearlessly expressing his opinion. Through the editorial, Shiv Sena has supported Mehek Prabhu’s claim that the poster did not mean secession of Kashmir. BJP has been advised to have some patience and stop dreaming of the fall of this Uddhav led govt.

It is fascinating and amusing to see where Shiv Sena has reached holding hands with the Congress and NCP. The Sena that believed in Akhand Hindustan is now rooting for Azaad Kashmir. They are telling the BJP to have patience while these anti-India forces spread chaos and try to break our nation into pieces. This is the new Shiv Sena. Shiv Sena 2.0.

Read: Even as Shiv Sena turns ‘secular’, poster boy Umar Khalid mocks Aditya Thackeray, says he wouldn’t share a stage with him

This is not the Shiv Sena that was envisioned by Balasaheb Thackeray. This is the Shiv Sena that is power-hungry and is willing to give up the principles that Balasaheb believed in.  This is Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena ready to do everything that Sharad Pawar and Sonia Gandhi want them to do to remain in power. Uddhav’s Shiv Sena is so blinded by BJP-hatred that it is siding with and defending the secessionists and Urban Naxals.

Uddhav Thackeray recently compared the JNU violence with 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. In a bid opposing Modi govt, he insulted the victims of 26/11. His son Aaditya who is now a minister in Maharashtra cabinet had decided to attend an anti-CAA conference sharing the stage with the members of ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’. This new version of Shiv Sena is far away from Balasaheb’s faith in Hindutva and Nationalism. Every Shiv Sainiks feels betrayed today. Every Maharashtrian feels betrayed today. Shiv Sena 2.0 has betrayed Hindutva and Hindustan by standing up for ‘Free Kashmir’.

NUJS, Kolkata disrespects constitutional head of a state, decides to ‘uninvite’ West Bengal Governor for an event over his CAA-NRC views

In a bizarre event that unfolded last night at one of the top law schools of India, the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata the Model United Nation Society (MUN Society) decided to ‘uninvite’ the Governor of West Bengal, Jagdeep Dhankhar who, on 6th January, 2020, agreed to attend the closing ceremony of MUN as the Chief Guest.

At around midnight, a 4th year B.A.LL.B. student and a member of the General Body wrote an internal mail stating “as members of the General Body we firmly oppose inviting an individual an individual who is in support of state violence on those protesting the CAA-NRC-NPR”.

The email further stated, “We sincerely hope you consider uninviting him since being a chief guest in a closing ceremony of one of our major flagship events gives him a platform where his action and words that have aggravated the climate of fear are legitimized”.

If such a strong language against the constitutional head of a state was not enough, the concerned student went ahead with her threat to the MUN society and wrote, “We are extremely disappointed with the MUN SOC taking such steps and hope we can uninvite such an individual. We sincerely hope our requests are taken into account seriously.”

Read: West Bengal Governor calls it collapse of law after he was heckled, forced to return without attending convocation at Jadavpur University

The email also had a link to a Google sheet that was supposed to be signed by the students who agreed the student’s email for uninviting the Governor. At round 1:15 am another student, and a member of the students’ body, wrote an email asking if it was legitimate to uninvite a guest on the basis of an email which was signed by merely 47 out of 500 students of the university. OpIndia is in possession of a list of 45 students who had signed the email that aimed at uninviting the Governor of West Bengal.

However, what came as an absolute shock was the email sent by the Convenor of MUN Soc who gave the details of how they invited the Governor and in light of the reservation made by a handful of students what their backup plans are.

He wrote, “The NUJS MUN Society had made an informal invitation to Jagdeep Dhankhar, the Governor of West Bengal immediately after his appointment on the 2nd of August, 2019 to appear as theChief Guest during the closing ceremony NUJS International MUN 2020. However, the views expressed by the Governor in December were inconsistent with the views and ideals of the NUJS MUN Society and the NUJS General Body at large. In light of this we began looking for other dignitaries who could stand in for the governor and invite Mr. Gaurav Gogoi, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha (Kaliabor, Assam) and Mr. Jyotiradita Scindia. At thispoint we did not considered it necessary to communicate with the Governor’soffice…”

It is important to note, as disclosed in the email, that the Governor called the MUN Society saying that he had accepted the invitation and the Convenor of the Society was invited to the Raj Bhavan the next day to discuss his logistics.

Despite the Governor having accepted the invitation and instructed his staff to arrange the logistics, the Convenor of the MUN Society went ahead with uninviting the Governor, and further wrote in the email, “…in light of the response by members of the general body which led to an important  internal dialogue, we have taken the decision to not have the Governor as our chief Guest. We apologize that this decision came only after members of general body raised their concerns and regret that we didn’t taken it sooner.”

What is interesting to note here is that the Society plans to invite Gaurav Gogoi whose father and ex-Chief Minister of Assam proudly claimed and tweeted in 2018 that NRC was his brainchild after uninviting the Governor because he has opposing views on the NRC.

Rich versus Poor nations: A debate that’s at the core of Climate Change discussions

Green House Gas Emissions, particularly CO2, cannot be delinked with the state of the economy and lifestyle of citizens. We are, what we call, products of a fossil fuel-based economy. So, try as we may, emission of CO2 is deeply linked with every choice we make as a human being – whether its choosing to buy a pair of shoes or build a road. No country in the world has improved its human development index without a corresponding increase in its energy use and thereby, its GHG emissions.

As per Climate Change science, we know that the release of CO2 and other GHGs will result in progressive warming of the globe, leading to catastrophic impacts on human life. Recurrence of extreme weather events are said to be one of the impacts to tell us that the global climate is changing. These vagaries of weather will be responsible to impact a large population, particularly in developing nations, since we lack the basic infrastructure that protects people from natural disasters in developed nations.

We also know that this entire phenomenon of Climate Change is based on our data on emissions between 1885 and 2010. Since the late 1980s, Climate Change discussions and debates have commenced in the international fora, where we see a deep divide on viewpoints between the Poor and the Rich nations. Since the early 1990s, as emerging economies, India and China were looked upon as potential contributors to CO2 emissions. The entire premise was based on the fact that if these two giants decided to lift their citizens out of poverty, improve their economy and offer even a basic lifestyle to all their population, the GHG emissions will skyrocket and make the entire balance skewed. So, there was considerable pressure exerted on these two nations not to follow the path of emissions as the Rich countries had done in the last 100 or so years.

Read: Climate Change and India: Urban elites should focus their energy on pressuring developed nations to meet emission targets

The Poor countries, led by India, stood their ground and the negotiations were turned to recognize that for the poor countries to develop basic infrastructure for all its citizens, they will have to increase their GHG emissions up to a certain level. As a result, the emission targets were imposed/accepted only by the rich nations. Some semblance of equity attempted to arrive at during these discussions. For this purpose, a Climate Fund and the Carbon Development Mechanism was also established to apparently assist the Poor countries to have the money to look at low carbon alternative technologies when they developed over the next 50 years.

However, considering that now the world knew that India and China, including many nations in Africa, will have to increase their GHG emissions to improve their human development index, the Rich nations should have been more upfront and aggressive in reducing their GHG emissions. This has not happened, while the pressure on India has continued. Similarly, the CDM has failed to offer no resolution to the aspect of funding.

Read: ‘We are doing better than Europe on Climate Change’, MEA Jaishankar reminds German magazine during an interview

An important factor to be also understood here is that the Rich countries’ emissions are tagged as ‘luxury emissions’ while the Poor countries’ emissions are tagged as ‘necessary emissions’. This differentiation is so because 80% of citizens in Developed nations enjoy a lifestyle similar to what about 10% enjoy in Developing countries. The Rich and Poor divide is apparent and very important in Climate Change considerations.

However, since the Kyoto Protocol and its implementation, almost no Rich nation has achieved the targets it was set to. So effectively, we still have a large disparity, where the Rich nations continue to emit their luxury emissions, while there is a general global hue & cry in India about Climate Change when India seeks to develop. China, just ignores everyone, any which ways.

See the chart below which gives a basic understanding of what and where each of the first 32 nations that are tagged as ‘high emitters’ are doing for  Climate Change mitigation.

Source: Climate Action Tracker – Paris Climate Agreement

The image clearly shows that India is still, by virtue of various factors, a nation that is at a compatible level. India is, in fact, the only nation that is investing heavily in climate change mitigation while it continues to put in infrastructure for her citizens at a rapid pace. If losses are being done in one particular sector, gains are being done in another to offset these losses. It is just sad that Indian citizens fail to appreciate this leadership that India has taken upon itself.

It is a known fact India has extremely efficient systems in place when it comes to energy use. Apart from policies and codes in place for all the energy-intensive sectors, India has accomplished a high GDP growth with only 3.7% growth in energy use. This is unprecedented and achieved for the first time in the world. So India as a country of aware and responsible citizens is already committed to taking action for mitigating Climate Change.

Read: Greta Thunberg, Climate Change and Indian Dilemma

The current fear-mongering about Climate Change and its direct connection to the cutting of trees that we see amongst media persons, urban elites and that is fuelled by activists is completely misleading. While setting up of infrastructure will add negligible emissions to the atmosphere, the benefits of improving the Human Development index will ensure that fewer people are impacted by natural disasters, whose frequent recurrence is blamed on global warming.

The poor are always the worst affected by any natural calamities. So, if the Rich nations and highest global emitters do not reduce their GHG emissions, the Climate Change phenomena will continue to impact India and her citizens, particularly harshly, if we do not take any steps to lift our people out of poverty.

Delhi court orders Meghna Gulzar to give due credit to victim’s lawyer in Chhapaak: Read details

Aparna Bhat, the lawyer who represented the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, on whose life the Deepika Padukone starrer movie Chhapaak is based on, had moved Delhi’s Patiala House Court seeking for a stay on the release of the movie.

Bhat had alleged that while she was the lawyer who represented Laxmi in her arduous legal fight, she has been given no credit in the movie Chhapaak.

The Patiala House Court in Delhi, after hearing lawyer Aparna Bhat’s plea, has today ordered Chhapaak director Meghna Gulzaar to give due credit to the lawyer in the movie.

The order of Patiala House Court, Delhi, via Aditya Raj Kaul

As shared by journalist Aditya Raj Kaul, the court order states that it has found the claims of the lawyer valid. The court has ordered the director Meghana Gulzaar to include a slide of actual footage and images in the movie’s credits, declaring “Aparna Bhat continues to fight cases of physical and sexual violence against women” along with a rider that the same is through court orders.

The order mentions that if the screening of the film without the actual footages and images and without credit to Aparna Bhat will be a grave injustice and will be akin to preventing the public from knowing about Bhat’s contribution and her efforts.

Earlier, on 11th December, Aparna Bhat had, in fact, taken to Facebook to celebrate the movie the making of the film Chhapaak. She said that she still remembers how it took her 8 years to get the law changed, the minimum compensation increased, ensuring free treatment at private hospitals and finally, regulating acid sale. She then celebrated the story now being told in Bollywood. However, after watching the movie, she had changed her opinion.

Bhat had taken to social media to share that she has been hurt and saddened to see that she has not received even as much as a “Thank You” in the movie.

When Barely Sanghi talks to INSANE and CRAZY residents of ‘woke’ township BULLSHIT about fornication of his religion

Hello Friends,

In these polarized times, it is more important than ever to understand an opposing viewpoint. Because as Gandhi once noted, sometimes it is important to find out just why people want to kill you- not that it would help you live longer but dying with an understanding of why you needed to go is always better than kicking the bucket with a confused expression on your face!

So, recently I visited a woke township to understand why people wanted to fornicate the religion I was born in. This place is called Building Understanding, Love & Leadership for Singularly Humane Indian Titans or BULLSHIT.

It is full of 40-year-old students, stand-up comics whose entire act consists of comparing the PM to Hitler, media-persons working for channels with basement low ratings and politicians who lost their deposits in elections 8 months ago- or as they like to call themselves – the voice of the country! In BULLSHIT, there are two primary groups of eminent citizens. The first is Indian Nonconformist Secular And Neutrals Enterprise or INSANE and the other is Communist Radicals And Zestful Youth or CRAZY. After I convinced them that I was not Sanghi enough to be blocked by any of the leading ‘neutral’ journalists, they deigned to grant me a discussion.  (I am referred to as Barely Sanghi or BS- frequently by both sides!)

BS- So if I understand you correctly, you think the government should roll back CAA, and assure there would be no NRC. Can you tell me why?

INSANE Representative One- How can you differentiate on the basis of religion?

BS- So, if the government brings Uniform Civil Code and changes provisions in various articles giving preferential treatment to non–Hindus, you would welcome that?

CRAZY Representative One- Of course not! How can the government tell me how to practice my religion?

BS- So, in 2017 when Sabarimala protests were going on, you were with the devotees?

INSANE One- Misogynist Sanghi! How dare those patriarchal thugs to dictate terms? Rule of law above religion, dude!

BS- So, tomorrow if the law demands that Civil Code be—

CRAZY ONE- let me save you some time Sanghi. Courts telling you how to practice religion is secular, anyone telling us the same is communal. Got it?

BS- (Coughs) sure, coming back to CAA, on what basis are you saying that the country doesn’t want this law?

INSANE ONE- Do you read newspapers or watch the news, dude? Did you see the spontaneous protests across the country?

BS- But weren’t there even bigger rallies supporting CAA?

CRAZY ONE: (Laughs) BJP IT cell organized rallies. Reminded me of Nazi Germany of 1930s.

BS- Weren’t the protests similarly organized by opposition parties?

INSANE ONE (with Rajdeep-Esque pained expression)- The youth of the country has spoken Sir, please stop painting everything with a political brush.

BS- But didn’t your friend do that a moment ago?

INSANE ONE- Of course, and rightly so. Please understand that in a democracy, people’s will is supreme and government must heed it. Otherwise, what is the difference between us and Nazi Germany?

BS- But isn’t the law passed by lawmakers who were elected by the same people in May last year?

CRAZY ONE (condescending smile) – so First Past the Post is an expression of people’s will, eh? Cute!

BS- So, election results don’t reflect people’s will?

Both- Of course not.

BS- But then, didn’t the Sabarimala protest show a similar people’s will?

INSANE ONE- Democracy can’t be held hostage to majoritarianism, my good sir.  That is the road to Nazi Germany.

BS-(wipes sweat on brows)- Let me see if I get this straight- Pro CAA rallies are BJP’s propaganda machinery, Anti CAA rallies are apolitical and spontaneous.

Both- Yes!

BS- Also, anti CAA rallies express people’s will but people standing in line in the summer heat and casting their vote to choose their representative doesn’t?

Both (getting tired of stating obvious)- Yes!

BS- and lastly, the government should heed the majority or it will be like Nazi Germany, except it should also not heed the majority or else it will be like Nazi Germany. Did I get that right?

Both (visible exasperation)- Yes!

BS- Moving on, I wanted to know your thoughts about Deepika Padukone going to JNU

Both (gushing, tearful eyes)- So brave! Respect! Courage!

BS- But don’t you think she should have met injured students from both sides?

CRAZY ONE- Meet the Sanghi goons? Never!

BS- So if the other side dismisses her visit as partisanship or publicity stunt—

INSANE ONE (shouts, spittle flying from the corners of the mouth)- Don’t. You. Dare. Politicize. This. Courageous. Woman.

CRAZY ONE- We wish the men in Bollywood show similar spine.

BS- So if tomorrow a male actor speaks on the issue but happens to be on the other side, will you hail him too?

CRAZY ONE- Why should we hail a spineless millionaire who speaks against the plural fabric of the country? Like the foundational principle of liberalism says- you are with us or a Nazi.

BS- so can the other side similarly term actors against CAA as Communists?

INSANE ONE- I am warning you for the last time, don’t politicize the bravery of these neutral women. They are not Sanghi trolls who go and meet the PM.

BS- So Deepika meeting the Tukde Tukde gang is ok but Shorey meeting the Prime Minister is not?

CRAZY ONE- Will you stop referring to those brave students as Tukde Tukde please? Not everyone who opposes you is an anti-national.

BS- But anyone opposing you is a Nazi.

CRAZY ONE (rolls eyes)- your continuous stating of the obvious is getting on my nerves, Bucko.

BS- I apologize. The last issue – in many protests people were showing banners that abused Hindu religion and demanded separate Kashmir—

INSANE ONE- Hindutva and Hinduism is different, please read good writers like Dr Tharoor to understand how.

CRAZY ONE- and then come back to us so we can explain how he is wrong comparing Hindutva with Christianity and Islam.

BS- but those banners—

INSANE ONE- This is an inter-sectional protest, dude. People who oppose fascism from all angles have joined hands.

BS- So, if I join this protest with a sign against Islamic terrorism—

Both (screeching, about to take a bite out of my face)- Don’t you dare bring your islamophobia here.

BS- So, people abusing Hindu religion is not Hinduphobia?

INSANE ONE- of course not. Freedom of speech, anyone?

BS- Speaking of which- did you see Ricky Gervais’s monologue at the golden globes?

I asked this because I wanted to change the topic. Unfortunately, no sooner was the name out of my mouth, CRAZY ONE began foaming at the mouth and INSANE ONE began tearing their hair off. They asked a security guard to show me out while hissing words like ‘transphobe’ and ‘punching down’ from between clenched teeth.

India Today’s Lallantop’s Editor wants BJP supporters to use a ‘condom’ so they don’t procreate, deletes tweet after outrage

Saurabh Dwivedi, the editor of left-leaning digital news media ‘Lallantop’, on Wednesday committed a gaffe after he inadvertently exposed his prejudice against the ruling BJP by mocking and abusing the party supporters.

On Thursday, Saurabh Dwivedi, the disciple of ‘journalist’ Rajdeep Sardesai – arguably one of the greatest fake news peddlers that India has ever produced, took to Twitter to express his hatred for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

In a hurry to abuse and mock BJP, Dwivedi posted an edited infographic of the advertisement of British condom brand Durex on micro-blogging site Twitter and mocked that BJP supporters should use a condom to stop procreation of more supporters.

Read: The Lallantop and Rajdeep Sardesai spread lies on NRC in Assam, inflate the number of people excluded

In a tweet, Dwivedi asked his followers whether he should trend the edited infographic or not. The edited infographic of the Durex advertisement read, “For those people who are still supporting BJP. Please use this we don’t want any more like you in the world”.

Saurabh Dwivedi’s tweet mocking and abusing BJP supporters. The Tweet is now deleted.

It is pertinent to note that Hindi news and opinion website ‘Lallantop’ is owned by the India Today group.

Following his tweet, the social media users exposed the bias and hatred of Saurabh Dwivedi towards the BJP. They also questioned the India Today group for providing space to ‘journalist’ like Dwivedi to express his hatred and accused him of being a ‘middleman’.

As social media users lashed out at Dwivedi, the Lallantop editor soon deleted the tweet and issued an unconditional apology to what he referred as “sarcastic message about one political party”. He claimed that it was done in humour which misfired and was against the editorial policy of Lallantop to take any political side.

Recently, Lallantop editor Saurabh Dwivedi and his master Rajdeep Sardesai had also resorted to similar propaganda against the Modi government regarding the implementation of NRC in Assam. In September, India Today group’s The Lallantop had telecasted a talk show on Assam’s NRC with controversial journalist Rajdeep Sardesai and Saurabh Dwivedi. However, the discussion was full of misinformation and completely fake data.

In May this year, ‘Lallantop’ which asserts to be a fake-news buster, had also fact-checked a 9-month-old satirical article and passed off the claim as ‘authentic’.

New York Times columnist claims hackers used his IP address to download child pornography

Award-winning economist and New York Times columnist, Paul Krugman, declared on Wednesday that his IP address was used to download child porn. An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device connected to a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two main functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing.

Paul Krugman is a recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and is a known vicious critic of US President Donald Trump. Some have alleged that he suffers from the Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). The bombshell he dropped on Wednesday came without any prior warning and left netizens across the political spectrum bewildered.

Read: NYTimes columnist Aatish Taseer displays Hinduphobia in full glory, speaks the language of the very Islamists who killed his father

Krugman said, “I’m on the phone with my computer security service, and as I understand it someone compromised my IP address and is using it to download child pornography. I might just be a random target. But this could be an attempt to Qanon me. It’s an ugly world out there.”

Krugman’s original tweet that he later deleted

Weirdly enough, Krugman proceeded to blame QAnon, an online conspiracy theory on the fringes of the American rightwing that even most rightwingers believe to be false. Later, he proceeded to declare that NYT was investigating the matter. Subsequently, he said that the NYT reckons it was a scam.

There is still a lot of confusion over the matter. It appears rather bizarre that Krugman would choose to announce such a thing on Twitter instead of reporting to relevant law enforcement authorities if he were innocent. Child Pornography is an extremely serious crime and attracts severe punishment, therefore, it is bewildering that Krugman would want the NYT to investigate the matter instead of those with the necessary tools to track down the perpetrators of the crime.

Read: Of Nationalism and Hindu history: When fiction writer Romila Thapar writes for racist NYT, the result is bound to be poppycock

Many believe that Paul Krugman is guilty of downloading child porn and downloaded or watched something that he should never have done and is now playing the victim card as an act of defence against any allegations that might surface in the future. Furthermore, the recent case of Jeffery Epstein has demonstrated that pedophiles occupy extremely high positions within the political establishment of Western countries. Therefore, people are much less inclined to give Krugman a free pass.

It remains to be seen whether American law enforcement authorities would get involved in the matter. One would also expect Krugman to clarify at some point in time in the near future what he meant when he said that NYT thought it was a scam and why he believed NYT was the best institution to investigate the crime instead of the relevant authorities.

Congress defends goons who had gheraoed and attacked BJP MP Swapan Dasgupta at Visva Bharati

A day after BJP MP Swapan Dasgupta was gheraoed and attacked by leftist goons in Visva Bharati University, Congress leader has come out and justified the attack on him as he was trying to education people on Citizenship Amendment Act.

As reported by Times Now, Congress leader Rashid Alvi says that it is not that the Indians do not know how to read and understand laws. “The government does not need to explain and educate people about the laws. People know it very well. They know what CAA means. They know it very well what NRC is. What will be outcome if NRC is implemented. If you try to mislead people, you will have to answer people,” he said.

Taking to Twitter last evening, BJP MP Swapan Dasgupta had said how he was locked into a room with a mob outside.

“There are nearly 70 people locked inside a room in Vishwa Bharati, Santiniketan, for the crime of attending an official, university-convened lecture by me on CAA. This includes the VC. There is a howling mob outside itching for confrontation,” he had tweeted. A few hours after being locked up, the mob dispersed and he was able to leave.

Even as Shiv Sena turns ‘secular’, poster boy Umar Khalid mocks Aditya Thackeray, says he wouldn’t share a stage with him

As Aditya Thackeray, the grandson of Shivsena’s founder Balasaheb Thackeray skipped an anti-CAA event on Sunday at Mumbai, ultra-left’s poster boy Umar Khalid mocked the Maharashtra minister by claiming that he would not have shared stage with the Thackeray-scion even if he had attended the event.

Earlier it was reported that the Sena scion and Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray is to attend an anti-CAA event organised by the SFI that has JNU’s Tukde-Tukde poster boy Umar Khalid as one of the guests. There was a lot of social media outrage over Thackeray sharing the stage with Khalid. However, later reports emerged saying the young Thackeray will not be attending the event. Shiv Sena had stated that Thackeray’s attendance was not confirmed officially.

As Aaditya Thackeray skipped the event, the ultra left-wing leader jumped on to ridicule him. In a video which has gone viral on social media now, Umar Khalid – the former JNU leader who was accused of chanting pro-terrorist, anti-India slogans on the campus, can be seen insulting the young Thackeray by stating that he was present at the event only because Aaditya Thackeray decided to skip it.

Umar Khalid went on to claim that even if Aaditya Thackeray was present at the venue, he would not have even shared the stage with him as the young leader of ‘secular’ Shiv Sena has not taken a clear stand on the issue of the NPR.

Khalid also said that the reason to not share the stage with Aaditya Thackeray was that Shiv Sena had given a ticket to one of the two men, who is accused of attacking him in the past. Reportedly, Naveen Dalal, one of the two men accused of attacking Umar Khalid in 2018 was the Shiv Sena’s candidate from Bahadurgarh for the Haryana Assembly polls.

The event ‘CAA, NRC Virodhi Chhatra Parishad’ was held at the Yashvantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai on the 5th of January. The event was organised by Chhatra Bharati and Communist organisation SFI. The Congress and NCP leaders had attended the event. Sharad Pawar’s grandson Rohit Pawar was also scheduled to share the stage with anti-India elements like Umar Khalid.

Apart from ‘Tukde Tukde Gang’ fame Umar Khalid, various other left-leaning propagandists were also part of the event. Controversial Bollywood song-writer Javed Akhtar was also one of the invitees to the event.
