53 years after fighting against massacre of Bengali-speakers by Urdu-imposing Pakistan army, Islamists in Bangladesh commemorate Jinnah’s death anniversary with Urdu songs

Pakistan would not have been created without Jinnah, and without Pakistan, ‘Bangladesh too would not exist,‘ Islamist Speakers said while commemorating the 76th death anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah at the National Press Club in Dhaka, Bangladesh. They marked the death anniversary of Pakistan’s founding father with Urdu songs and poetry on Wednesday (11th September 2024).

Interestingly, the development which can only be dubbed as the mother of all irony is the first time that Bangladesh observed the death anniversary of Jinnah with speakers calling him the creator and father of Bangladesh. For those unversed, Bangladesh (once East Pakistan) fought a blood-drenched Liberation war against Urdu-imposing Jinnah’s forces with the Bangla pride acting as the central pillar of its Independence movement.

However, it is pertinent to note that ever since regressive and Islamist forces like Jamaat-e-Islami have gained control of the country after the fall of the Sheikh Hasina govt, the nation of Bengali speakers has been gravitating back to the language it had detested for centuries – Urdu. It is also aggressively pushing to rekindle its “brotherhood” with Pakistan, thus besmirching the very existence of their country, massacre of their Bengali-speaking ancestors, and Independence movement.

In a tragic first, Bangladesh marks Jinnah’s death anniversary, invites Pakistan’s diplomat as Chief Guest: Details

On Wednesday (11th September 2024), the Nawab Salimullah Academy held a discussion session at the Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah Hall of the National Press Club in Dhaka. During the event, they commemorated the 76th death anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah with Urdu songs, poetry, and musical performances. Several speakers mentioned various aspects of Jinnah’s life and claimed that without him, Bangladesh would not have existed.

While the organisers had invited the Pakistani high commissioner to Bangladesh as the Chief Guest, he was conspicuously absent during the event. However, Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner Kamran Dhangal addressed the event.

Presenting the keynote paper, Professor Mostafizur Rahman mentioned various events from Jinnah’s life right from his birth to his death. Jafarul Haq Jafar also recited an Urdu poem about Jinnah. Two Pakistanis studying in Bangladesh, Mohammad Tahir and Kamran Abbas, performed songs in Urdu dedicated to Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

Spewing venom against India, an Islamist speaker Samsuddin said, “If Bangladesh had not been part of Pakistan in 1947, we would have been in the same position as Kashmir today, with the Indian junta holding weapons to our necks. Bangladesh gained independence because of Pakistan, which Jinnah helped create.”

He added, “Why should we change the name of Allama Iqbal Hall or Jinnah Avenue? These changes were made because Delhi wanted them, but we did not. Bangladesh must foster strong relations with China and Pakistan.”

Another speaker Nazrul Islam, said, “Regardless of how it happened, we have gained independence. We must maintain our relationship with Pakistan. If Jinnah had not been there, Pakistan would not have existed, and without Pakistan, Bangladesh would not exist. Jinnah is the father of our nation, but we do not acknowledge it. We must preserve our brotherhood, and I hope that both Jinnah’s birth and death anniversaries will continue to be observed here every year.”

Another speaker, Md Shakhawat claimed that Jinnah ended the political incompetence and strife in the Indian subcontinent that erupted after 1757.

He added, “Had Jinnah not taken responsibility for Bangladesh in 1947, we would have been in the same situation as West Bengal, remaining a part of India. It was because of his leadership that East Pakistan remained united with West Pakistan. Now we must assess our friendship.”

Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner Kamran Dhangal said that Jinnah’s leadership in the Muslim League had been outstanding which according to him, was the beginning of an important mass movement for the Muslims of India.

While the Islamists rejoiced in commemorating Jinnah and absolving Pakistan of its genocidal war crimes, and celebrating Urdu language, a section of Bangladeshi citizens lambasted the event calling it an attempt to “rewrite history”.

Slamming the organisers for marking Jinnah’s death anniversary, Dhaka-based journalist Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury said, “It was a slap on our war of independence, where 3 million Bengalis sacrificed their lives. I am speechless!”

He added, “Is Bangladesh rewriting its history?”

Islamabad-based analyst Ashfaq Hassan asked if Bangladesh was rewriting history.

Nonetheless, it is both ironic and perplexing that Bangladesh celebrated Jinnah and Urdu as millions of their Bengali-speaking ancestors suffered unspeakable atrocities at the hands of the Pakistani army and its supported Islamist forces in erstwhile East Pakistan just for resisting Pakistan’s authoritarian ways and imposition of Urdu as the national language.

Prolonged atrocities on Bengali speakers which culminated in the form of the Bangladesh Liberation War

Millions of Hindus, Bengali-speaking freedom-seeking Muslims were killed, and thousands were raped in a genocide carried out by Pakistan, until its independence in 1971.

Strikingly, East Pakistan witnessed massive protests to demand that Bangla should be recognised as a co-official language, used in government, education, media, currency, and stamps, and to retain its script way back in 1952. However, the Urdu-imposing Pakistani regime launched a brutal crackdown in which dozens were killed in police firing. Later, five of them were recognised as martyrs by the Bangladesh government.

While the list of Pakistan’s military excesses and persecution of Hindus and Bengali-speaking Muslims is endless in erstwhile East Pakistan, a few incidents like Operation Searchlight mark the darkest chapter in the history of the Indian subcontinent.

The Pakistani army carried out ‘Operation Searchlight’ on the night of 25th March 1971. It was a brutal military manhunt to crush the surging nationalism among Bengali-speaking people in East Pakistan following the election mandate of 1970. The Pakistan Army resorted to mass massacre, rape, and genocide of Bengali Hindus and freedom-seeking Bengali Muslims to create a reign of terror and scare Bengalis into submission.

The operation was led by then-General Yahya Khan of Pakistan and put in action by General Tikka Khan, who was the then martial law administrator of East Pakistan.

During ‘Operation Searchlight’, the Pakistani forces brutally killed the Bengali members of the East Pakistan Rifles and police, students, and teachers of Dhaka University. They opened indiscriminate firing at unarmed civilians killing thousands, set houses and properties ablaze, and looted business establishments.

Notably, it was the same night when Bangladesh’s founding father Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman made the proclamation of independence before he was arrested by the Pakistani troops and subsequently flown to West Pakistan.

In his book ‘Witness to Surrender’, Pakistani Major Siddiq Salik had described ‘Operation Searchlight’ saying, “The gates of hell had been cast open.” Salik worked as the Pakistan military’s spokesman in the then East Pakistan.

The atrocities in East Pakistan only ended after India’s military intervention and finally on 16th December 1971, then commander of the Pakistan Eastern Command Lt Gen AAK Niazi was forced to sign the Instrument of Surrender in the presence of Lt Gen JS Aurora of the Indian Army in Dacca (now Dhaka) that birthed the country of Bengali-speakers, now known as Bangladesh which is tragically moving firmly in the grip of pro-Urdu, Pro-Pakistan Islamist forces.

Nazia Elahi Khan: Activist, who supported UP Kanwar Yatra nameplate order, falsely accused of blasphemy, given ‘Sar Tan se Juda’ threats by Muslims

A prominent social media activist named Nazia Elahi Khan, who regularly speaks against radical Islam and on the plight of Hindus in West Bengal, was arrested on Wednesday (10th September) on charges of ‘blasphemy’.

Nazia was produced before the Alipore District & Session Court, after which she was released on bail. In August this year, a case was filed against her for allegedly ‘insulting‘ Prophet Muhammad and the Muslim community.

The First Information Report (FIR) was based on the complaint of a lawyer named Noor Mahvish, who accused Nazia of allegedly ‘inciting’ communal violence and deepening religious tensions in India. She was booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 299, 353 and 362.

The controversy stemmed from a video interview of Nazia, which she gave to a YouTube channel named ‘News Gallery’ on 3rd August 2024.

We found the video on the social media activist’s X (formerly Twitter) timeline. Nazia was seen objecting to the use of ‘Hindu sounding names’ for shops and eateries run by Muslim business owners.

“Why is Salim, who thinks of Hindus as Kafir (a derogatory word for non-Muslims), running a dhaba in the named Mahadev (Lord Shiva),” she inquired.

Nazia Elahi Khan did not insult Prophet Muhammad

On being told by the reporter that everyone is free to use names of their liking for their business, the social media activist responded, “If that’s the case, then, Hindus will also write ‘Muhammad Suar ki Dukaan (Shop of Muhammad pig)’, Ajmer liquor shops, Medina lingerie shop and Owaisi underwear ki dukaan (Owaisi underwear shop).”

“If Hindus keep such names, no one should have an objection. Thereafter, no one should create hullabaloo over it or give slogans such as ‘Gustaak-e-Rasool ki ek ji saza, sar tan se juda’ (The punishment for blasphemy is death’,” she pointed out.

As evident from the discussion, Nazia did not insult Prophet Muhammad but simply pointed out the hypocrisy of Muslims and their objection to Muslim-sounding names of shops.

However, lawyer Noor Mahvish in her police complaint claimed that the social media activist ‘incited’ communal tension by her remarks.

Nazia spoke about spit jihad, reluctance to show nameplates by Muslim vendors

Furthermore, she spoke on the dangerous trend of unsuspecting Muslim vendors spitting on food and being caught red-handed in their disturbing acts.

“This country has seen thook jihad (spit jihad) and the demand to hide names is being made to continue this thook jihad. Only thieves are afraid of hiding names. Now, Muslims are hesitant to put up their nameplates.”

She also spoke about the disturbing case from July this year wherein a Muslim man and his accomplices rammed his car into the Kanwar Yatra near the T-point intersection of the Delhi-Dehradun Highway and Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Nazia was highlighting the growing menace of unhygienic eateries and deliberate adulteration of food by criminals, running their businesses in the name of Hindu Gods.

She supported the decision of the Yogi Adityanath-led-UP government to make vendors display their original names on restaurants and carts along the route of Kanwar Yatra. The directive was ultimately stayed by the Supreme Court of India.

Muslims abuse Nazia, issue death threats

Starting in August, radical Muslims across India began abusing her on social media and even issued threats of beheading and murder.

One of the prominent public personalities, who was involved in the dog whistling, happened to be Anjum Khan – the wife of cricketer Shivam Dube.

In her Instagram story, Anjum warned, “If you don’t get angry even if the Prophet is being insulted then your faith is dead. And, if your Imaan is not dead then write with me #arrestnaziaelahikhan”. It featured Nazia’s picture with a “boycott” sign and had additional text inciting violence against her.

“Friends, now is the time to take action against this Nazia Elahi Khan. After speaking against Musalmans, she is making disgusting comments against our prophet,” she further threatened.

The subsequent police case against her also encouraged radical Muslim groups. Nazia Elahi Khan also received threats from a Muslim YouTuber named Aijaz Aslam, who happened to be a fan of Maulana Mufti Nadeem.

The latter had threatened to chop hands and gouge eyes for ‘blasphemy’ while protesting against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. He was subsequently arrested in July 2022.

On 4th September, the social media activist informed, “The entire country including West Bengal are in protest for the justice of doctor daughter #RGKarProtest but the Muslim of West Bengal is planning for my ‘sar tan se Juda’. Firstly these muslims had tried hard to put me in jail and now they are ready for sar tan se juda.”

She has accused the Kolkata Police and Trinamool Congress leaders of being hand-in-gloves behind falsely implicating her in the case.

Nazia Elahi Khan also revealed that a plan to lynch her was underway when she was presented in the Alipore court.

“First I was arrested by false blasphemy case from Port area Garden Reach police station , then in collusion with the officer of Kolkata Police’s Garden Reach police station, lakhs of Muslims gathered in Alipore court with the conspiracy of my mob lynching. Conspiracy to slit my throat, many TMC MLAs,Muslim Mahila TMC leader direct hand!” she had said in an Instagram post.

Assam: Congress delegation turned away in Sonapur by locals amidst removal of illegal encroachments in the area by BJP Government

On Friday, 13th September, residents of Kosutoli village in Sonapur, Assam, turned away a Congress Party delegation that visited to meet the families of the two people killed during clashes in an eviction drive. The delegation claimed they went to assess the situation and meet local residents. However, upon entering the village, a group of people stopped them from proceeding further. The eviction drive is being conducted to remove illegal encroachments by people from the Muslim community on land designated as Tribal Belt and Block.

Tensions rise as locals oppose Congress visit

The group of locals raised anti-Congress slogans and asked the delegation to leave, forcing the 13-member team to retreat without completing their visit. Congress leader Jakir Hussain Sikdar accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of orchestrating the opposition they faced, claiming those who blocked their path were aligned with the BJP. He stated, “The Congress is always ready to protect the people of the tribal belt. However, we will not tolerate violence under the guise of land evictions for tribal protection. Those who blocked us are clearly aligned with the BJP.”

Congress leaders voice concerns over removal of illegal encroachments

Congress leader Mira Barthakur said, “We’re not averse to eviction. We just want that the government should issue notices well ahead of eviction drives in accordance with the standing order of the Supreme Court. We wanted to go to the spot to help restore an atmosphere of peace in the area.” Another Congress leader added, “All the evicted persons have Aadhaar cards, ration cards, etc., which are enough to prove their Indian citizenship. Since the government evicted them from the tribal belt, it should have given them rehabilitation somewhere else.”

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma says Congress is inciting violence

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said Congress is inciting the village residents, leading to the violence during the eviction drive on 12th September. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that fundamentalists had infiltrated the eviction drive against encroachers in Kosutoli and that slogans used in Bangladesh were echoed by the residents. During the clashes between security forces and residents, two people were killed and several others were injured.

CM Sarma said, “Congress and other fundamentalist forces instigated the encroachers. They attacked the police. The slogan that was being used in Bangladesh; they are using the same slogan here now. After the action of Assam Police, the area has become peaceful again and the eviction work is going on.”

DGP explained the situation in Assam

On 13th September, Director General of Police GP Singh visited the village in question. He pointed out that recent study of the land in the area revealed some unauthorised construction was happening. It was being done by the outsiders who were trying to move into the area. These people did not belong to the protected class. He said, “The government had issued a direction for an eviction drive. The drive followed seven days of announcements in the area. People were told they were illegally occupying government land. Until Wednesday, 151 families were evicted, and 240 bighas of land were cleared.”

However, on 12th September, a section of the people targeted police and attacked police vehicles. The police used force to disperse them leading to death of two individuals. 22 police personnel were also injured in the clashes. The DGP said, “I have a feeling that there was a conspiracy. I suspect that people were instigated.”

Following the violence, locals themselves protested against the encroachments and demanded the encroachers should be removed as soon as possible.

He further stated, “We are running a special campaign against the encroachers who have illegally occupied the land of the tribals in Sonapur, Assam. Yesterday, the Congress held a press conference and expressed sympathy for the intruders, after which the same intruders attacked the police.”

Notably, locals have accused some “brokers” of bringing people from the minority community to settle on land under ‘Tribal Block and Belt’. They have urged the government to identify these brokers and bring them to justice.

Adani Group wins bid to supply 6600 MW of bundled solar and thermal electricity to Maharashtra for 25 years at ₹4.08 per unit

Adani Group has won a bid to supply 6,600 MW of bundled renewable and thermal power to Maharashtra on a long-term basis. While Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) will supply 5000 MW of solar power from its upcoming solar power park in Gujarat, Adani Power Limited (APL) will supply 1600 MW of thermal power from a new project.

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) has issued Letters of Intent for the purchase of 6600 MW of power from two Adani group companies, and the two companies will sign long-term Power Supply Agreements with MSEDCL soon.

Adani group reportedly quoted a rate of ₹4.08 per unit, beating other bidders like JSW Energy and Torrent Power. The tariff is about Re 1 per unit lower than the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission approved average power purchase cost of Rs 4.97 per kWh (unit) for 2024-25.

In March this year, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) had floated a unique tender for sourcing 5,000 MW of solar electricity and 1,600 MW of coal-based thermal power. The combination of solar and thermal power to meet peak electricity demands and also to supply power during non-solar hours and seasons. Bidders were asked to quote a unified tariff for both kinds of power.

The difference in power to be obtained from solar and thermal is to get equal energy weightage from both sources. As the ratio between thermal and renewable power is 1:3, 5,000 MW of solar power equals 1,600 MW of thermal electricity in terms of capacity utilisation factor (CUF).

The tender is for the supply of electricity for 25 years. As per the bid conditions, Adani Power will supply solar power at a fixed cost of Rs 2.70 per unit throughout the entire supply period, while that from coal will be indexed to coal prices, Business Standard reported.

Adani Green Energy Limited will sign a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) under the Letter of Intent (LOI). The agreement will be signed for supply of 5 GW (5000 MW) solar power to Maharashtra from the world’s largest renewable energy park being developed at Khavda in the Kutch District of Gujarat.

The thermal power will be supplied from a new project to be set up by Adani Power Limited. It will be a 1600 MW Ultra-supercritical thermal power project, however net 1496 MW of electricity will be supplied to MSEDL, the rest kept for auxiliary consumption.

The thermal capacity has been awarded to Adani Power Limited on a Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) basis with the sourcing of fuel from coal linkages allocated under Para B (iv) of the SHAKTI Policy. Under the terms of the Award, APL will enter into a 25-year Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with MSEDCL for supply of 1496 MW of electricity on a long-term basis. The new thermal power plant to set up for this purpose will have an installed capacity of 1600 MW, with two 800 MW units to be set up utilizing Ultra-Supercritical technology.

A statement by Adani Group said that the solar capacity award of 5 GW is the world’s largest such award since 2020. Similarly, the thermal capacity award is the largest in India in recent years to be awarded to the private sector.

The company said that the solar projects are expected to be connected to Inter State Transmission System and shall be developed in a staggered manner over a period of three years from execution of the PPAs with MSEDCL.

Notably, as per regulatory requirement under Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO), 32% of Maharashtra’s power demand is to be met from solar sources by 2028. At present it is 12%, so the procurement of 5000 MW solar power will help in achieving the requirement.

Power supply under the proposed PSA will commence three and a half years after the Appointed Date in case of Unit 1 (800 MW) and four years in case of Unit 2 (800 MW).

Sagar Adani, Executive Director of Adani Green Energy, said, “We are glad to collaborate with MSEDCL to meet the states’ rising energy demand through renewable sources and fulfil its RE commitments. Our goal is to accelerate India’s clean energy transition. This is a crucial step towards the country’s energy independence and building a sustainable future. Adani Green is well positioned to achieve the 50 GW target with secured resource rich sites in strategic locations, portfolio mix of renewables and storage solutions, robust supply chain and clear evacuation plans.”

Anil Sardana, Managing Director of Adani Power, said “As India advances in achieving its economic growth targets while maintaining a keen focus on sustainability, the role of conventional power in helping stabilize the grid and supplying base load power assumes greater importance. Adani Power is proud to partner a leading industrialised state like Maharashtra by becoming one of its key suppliers of reliable and competitive power from its existing and upcoming capacities, while enabling it to integrate an ever-increasing quantum of renewable energy in its grid.”

Arvind Kejriwal, out on bail in Delhi Excise Policy Scam, says British Empire that enslaved Indians was better than BJP Government

0

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP-led Centre, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that even Britishers would not have thought that after 75 years of independence, there would come a ruler crueller than them.

Addressing the party workers at AAP office, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Thanks to the Almighty, thanks to those who prayed for me. Many of our leaders were in jail, and even now Satyendra Jain and Amanatullah Khan are in jail. I got too time in jail. I read many books in jail, read the Gita many times, and read another book, ‘Bhagat Singh Ki Jail Diary’. When Bhagat Singh was in jail, he wrote letters to several revolutionary friends and youths of the country. The British sent Bhagat Singh’s letters to his people.”

“75 years after the independence achieved after Bhagat Singh’s martyrdom, a revolutionary CM went to jail. I had written only one letter from jail and that was to LG that I am in jail and Atishi should be allowed to hoist the flag in my place. My letter did not reach me and instead, I was warned that if I wrote again, I would not be allowed to meet my family. Even the British had not thought that in independent India, there would be a bigger dictator than the British in this country. even Britisher wouldn’t have thought that there would come a crueller ruler than them,” said Kejriwal.

Citing an example of Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt’s friendship, Kejriwal said, “One day Sandeep Pathak went to meet me, he did not come to talk about romantics, he came to talk about political things and then after that, he was blacklisted from meeting me.”

Delhi CM Kejriwal said that the only thing he has earned throughout his life is “honesty” and accused the BJP of framing false charges of corruption, theft, and deceiving the public.

Kejriwal said, “They (BJP) accused me of theft, corruption, deceiving Bharat Mata etc. I came to do something for my nation. When Lord Ram came after 14 years, Maa Sita had to give an ‘agnipariksha’, I am also ready to give my ‘agnipariksha’. The central government snatched my power by putting several laws. The only thing that I have earned in my life is honesty. Some people say that we will not be able to work because of restrictions imposed by the SC. Even they did not leave any stone unturned in imposing restrictions on us… If you think I am honest, vote for me in large numbers. I will sit on the CM’s chair only after being elected. The elections are supposed to be held in February. I demand elections be held in November with Maharashtra elections… Till elections are held, someone else from the party will be the Chief Minister. In the next 2-3 days, a meeting of the MLAs will be held, where the next CM will be decided.”

Hitting out at the BJP, Kejriwal said that they sent him jail in a move to break Aam Aadmi Party.

CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “They sent me to jail because their goal was to break the AAP and the courage of Arvind Kejriwal… They thought they would break our party and form a government in Delhi after jailing me… But our party did not break… I did not resign from the jail because I wanted to protect the Constitution of India. I wanted to fail their formula… The SC asked the central government why a government cannot run from the jail… The SC proved that a government can run from jail…”

In a major move, Arvind Kejriwal said he will resign from the position of Chief Minister after two days and won’t sit on the chair of CM, until the public of Delhi declares him “honest.”

Kejriwal further said that if the public votes for him, it will give him a certificate for his honesty. He also said he would ask for early polls along with the state of Maharashtra.

CM Arvind Kejriwal said, “I am going to resign from the CM position after two days. I will not sit on the CM chair until the people give their verdict. I will go to every house and street and not sit on the CM chair till I get a verdict from the people. I will not sit on the CM post until the public announces its decision. Elections are after a few months. If you think Kejriwal is honest, then vote for me, I will take over as CM after the elections. If you think I am not, don’t vote. Your vote will be a certificate for my honesty, then only I will sit on the post of CM.”

He was released from Tihar Jail on Friday evening, hours after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a corruption case related to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam.

“No patriot will do this”: Mahadalit Jitan Ram Manjhi calls out Rahul Gandhi for his statements during the US visit

0

Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday slammed Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks on reservations and Sikhs during US visit.

Manjhi condemned Rahul Gandhi remarks, saying “No patriot will do this.”

“He (Rahul Gandhi) goes abroad and says things about India which should not be said. He should speak in the Parliament. No patriot will do this. About Rahul Gandhi, I can say that he is doing the work of a traitor,” Manjhi said.

Earlier BJP MLA Hardeep Singh Dang came down heavily on Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over his recent ‘Sikh’ remarks in the US and said that the latter should apologise.

“It is very painful and condemnable that whenever Rahul Gandhi goes abroad, he returns insulting India. Rahul Gandhi’s remark on Sikh community is very painful. I believe there is respect for Sikh community across the globe but if he speaks such things then it is shameful,” Dang told ANI.

Notably, the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, during his interaction with the Indian diaspora in the US said that the fight is about whether a Sikh, is going to be allowed to wear a turban in India and would be able to visit a Gurdwara.

“First of all, you have to understand what the fight is about. Fight is not about politics. It is superficial. What is your name? The fight is about whether he, as a Sikh, is going to be allowed to wear his turban in India. Or he as a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a kada in India. Or a Sikh is going to be able to go to Gurdwara. That’s what the fight is about, and not just for him, for all religions,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi, when asked about reservation during his conversation at Georgetown University, said that the Dalits, Adivasis and OBC communities are still not getting participation in the system, adding that India is not a ‘fair place’.

“If you look at the Indian government, there are 70 bureaucrats who run the Indian government, secretaries to the government of India. These are the people who make almost all the financial decisions…Out of 70 people, there is one tribal, three Dalits, three OBCs and a minority. 90 per cent of India in the government of India has access to less than 10 per cent of the positions that determine how money is going to be spent. When you look at the financial numbers, then Tribals get 10 paise out of Rs 100, Dalits get Rs 5 out of Rs 100, and OBCs get a similar amount,” the Congress leader said.

‘Will resign after two days’: Arvind Kejriwal makes surprise announcement, demands election in November instead of February 2025

After coming out jail on bail, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal announced today that he will resign from the post after two days. He said that unless the voters in Delhi rules whether Kejriwal is guilty or innocent, he will not sit on the chair of the CM.

Arvind Kejriwal said that assembly elections will be held after few months, and appealed the people to vote for him in the polls. He said that he has arrived at the court of people, and asked whether they believe he is innocent or guilty. ‘Friends, I am resigning from the post of CM after two days’, he said.

Kejriwal added, ‘I will not sit in the CM’s chair until public gives verdict. I will go to the public, visit every lane, every house, and until public pronounces their verdict that Kejriwal is innocent, I will not sit in the CM’s chair’.

He said, ‘Delhi assembly elections will be held after a few months, I want to appeal to the public of Delhi, if you think that Kejriwal is innocent, vote for me, it you think I am guilty, don’t vote for me’. He added that he will occupy CM’s post only after he is re-elected after the polls, and stay away from the post. He said, ‘you must be wondering why he is resigning just after coming out of jail’. He explained that there are lots of allegations against him, and just like Sita Mata had to go through Agni Pariksha after 14 years in exile, he will also go through Agni Pariksha.

However, he denied that he resigned for bail conditions imposed by Supreme Court, saying no condition can stop them from working for people.

He said that a member of the party will be named Chief Minister after his resignation. Kejriwal also demanded that the elections in the national capital, scheduled for February, be held in November along with the polls in Maharashtra.

Kejriwal also said that Manish Sisodia is also going through the same situation, and he will also return to the govt only after the elections.

Notably, while granting bail to Arvind Kejriwal, the Supreme Court imposed several conditions. The most important condition is that Kejriwal is prohibited from attending office or sign any official files. He also can’t comment on the Delhi excise policy case, can’t meet witnesses to the case and can’t access files related to the case.

Earlier in the day, Arvind Kejriwal said that he didn’t resign despite going to jail to ‘save democracy’. He also asked all non-BJP chief ministers to not resign if they are arrested.

2 days after US Sanctions against 16 Venezuelan officials,Venezuela announces detention of 3 Americans over plot to kill President Maduro and destabilise the country

On 14th September, Interior Minister of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, announced that six people, including three Americans, two Spaniards, and one Czech citizen, have been arrested over an alleged plot to destabilise the government using “violent actions” against President Nicolas Maduro. Reports suggest that these individuals were allegedly planning to assassinate President Nicolas Maduro.

Seizure of weapons and CIA involvement claims

Cabello stated that hundreds of weapons have been seized by the Venezuelan government. The Interior Minister did not provide specific details on the identities of the arrested individuals but said that “the CIA is in charge of this operation and the CNI of Spain, too.” He added that the Spanish individuals were detained by security forces in Puerto Ayacucho in the southwest.

Detention of an American Navy sailor

According to CBS News, one of the detained Americans has been identified as a U.S. Navy sailor. He was detained in early September while on a personal visit to Venezuela. The detained sailor is a petty officer first class and a former Navy SEAL assigned to a West Coast team. A State Department spokesperson confirmed the detention of the sailor and two other unconfirmed detained American citizens.

Alleged assassination plot against Venezuela President Maduro

These individuals were allegedly seeking mercenaries with the “very clear objective” of killing President Maduro. Cabello stated, “We know that the United States government has links to this operation. They contacted French mercenaries, they contacted mercenaries from Eastern Europe, and they are in an operation to try to attack our country.” He added that 400 rifles originating from the US were seized and deemed the possible assassination attempt as a “terrorist act.”

Cabello further added that the three Americans and one Czech national arrested in the matter were linked to the alleged plot to kill the President. He implicated the intelligence agencies of the US and Spain, along with Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, in the plan.

Rising tensions between the US and Venezuela

The Venezuelan authorities made the arrests amid heightened tensions between the United States and Venezuela following the July Presidential election. The opposition party in Venezuela accused Maduro of stealing the election after he failed to release detailed vote tallies to support his victory claims.

US response to the allegations

The United States has denied any involvement in the alleged assassination plot against President Maduro. A State Department spokesperson told CBS, “Any claims of U.S. involvement in a plot to overthrow Maduro are categorically false. The United States continues to support a democratic solution to the political crisis in Venezuela.”

Diplomatic tensions with Spain and the US

There have been consistent tensions between Venezuela, the US, and Spain. Earlier in September, Caracas called back its ambassador to Madrid for consultations. Spain’s envoy to Venezuela was also summoned for talks after a Spanish minister accused President Maduro of running a dictatorship. Spanish Minister Pedro Sanchez further angered Venezuela by meeting Gonzalez Urrutia, the defeated Presidential candidate of Venezuela.

Caracas also had a war of words with the US as it recognised Urrutia as the winner of the July election. Following the incident, Hindu organisations raised slogans outside the police station, demanding action against the attackers. Additional police personnel were deployed to maintain law and order.

As per reports, two Ganesh idols were taken out for the Visarjan procession in Mahoba. When the procession reached Kasauratori area of Kotwali police station in Mahoba, a firecracker allegedly fell on a kutcha house. There was a piece of polythene on top of the house, which caught fire. The owner of the house put out the fire using water and then threw water on Hindus participating in the procession. When Hindus objected, it turned into a clash between the two sides.

Following the incident, members of Hindu organisations reached the police station and started sloganeering, demanding strict action against those who attacked them.

The owner of the kutcha house on which the firecracker fell, Akila, told Dainik Bhaskar that she saw a firecracker falling on her house and she immediately poured water on it. She claimed that the clash broke out after she threw water to extinguish the fire.
