Kumaraswamy wastes taxpayers’ money by distributing expensive gifts to MPs, BJP MP returns gifts

Politicians are known to be callous with public money. Kumaraswamy, the Chief Minister of Karnataka who recently declared how he has ingested the poison of coalition government and broke down on stage during a rally, has displayed that he is no different.

It has now come to light that Kumaraswamy government is distributing expensive gifts to all MPs ahead of the meeting convened to discuss the Cauvery issue with all MPs of the state.

Rajeev Chandrashekhar, BJP MP, Tweeted today that he was glad that the Chief Minister was convening a meeting to discuss the issue but he also enquired as to why such expensive gifts were being sent to all MPs. In the same tweet, Chandrasekhar also mentioned that he is returning these gifts.

He said that the Karnataka government claims austerity but it is spending money in such expensive gifts even while others aren’t even getting their salaries paid.

The gifts, as claimed by Rajeev Chandrasekhar seem to be an iPhone X which costs around anywhere between Rs 88,000 and

And what looks like a Moochies pure leather bag. While we couldn’t find the price of this model specifically, similar Moochies bags can cost upwards of Rs. 4000.

One wonders what the motive of sending expensive gifts to the MPs might be and why the taxpayers’ money should be used for such extravagance, especially when the Congress-JDS government has been repeatedly saying that there isn’t enough money in the state and recently, the petrol prices have been hiked for farmer loan waiver.
