Former US Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has spoken out in favour of the persecuted Hindu minorities of Bangladesh. She has also condemned the genocide of Bengali Hindus by the Pakistani Army and called upon the world to work against Islamist extremism.

“As a member of Congress, I introduced a resolution that called for the protection of Hindus and religious minorities in Bangladesh. People who continue to be targeted and persecuted to this day. The height of this persecution actually began 50 years ago, when the Pakistani army systematically murdered, raped and drove from their homes, millions of Bengali Hindus because of their religion and ethnicity,” Tulsi Gabbard said in the video.

She continued, “March 25th, 1971 was the beginning of a systematic targeting of Hindus in Bangladesh by the Pakistani military. It began in Hindu neighbourhoods and villages, first at Jagannath Hall, which was a Hindu dormitory in Dhaka University, where five to ten thousand people were killed on that first night alone. This genocidal campaign continued for 10 months, resulting in two to three million people killed. Hundreds of thousands of women and girls raped and more than 10 million forced to flee their homes.”

Tulsi Gabbard also recalled US Senator Ted Kennedy who observed the genocidal campaign against Hindus. She also said that the “Islamist persecution of Hindus and other religious minorities in Bangladesh did not end with Bangladesh’s independence”. She mentioned the recent attacks against Hindu Temples in Bangladesh in the wake of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the country.

Gabbard also urged the USA to commit to defeating the Islamist ideology.

Ahead of the 3rd phase of the West Bengal State Legislative elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has stirred a controversy yet again by reiterating her claims of ‘poll rigging’. And not just BJP, she has also accused the central forces deployed by the Election Commission of helping BJP in the elections.

While addressing an election rally in Falakata in the Alipurduar district on Friday, Mamata Banerjee said, “The central security personnel, who have come from outside, will try to intimidate you. Yesterday, they did in Nandigram. About 48 prior to the commencement of elections, the central security forces go to villages and intimidate people to not vote for the TMC. They warn people against voting for the TMC.”

Mamata Banerjee claimed that the central security personnel have been working in cahoots with the BJP as a part of a sinister conspiracy to defeat the Trinamool Congress. “Don’t listen to them. If they try to intimidate you, then, you must unite and chase them away with sickles, sticks and brooms,” the West Bengal recommended the people of Falakata to resort to violent means.

After accusing the central forces of being involved in ‘poll rigging’, she further claimed that miscreants from Assam will enter West Bengal to vote in elections. “After the conclusion of elections in Assam, they will come here to vote. I don’t mind if people from Assam will come here. They are our friends. But these people will come here to vote for BJP. They will also bring goons from outside like they did in Nandigram yesterday”

“Do you know why I sat at a booth in Nandigram? I had seen outsider goons, who were speaking in a foreign tongue. There are many in the crowd who may not speak Bengali but can understand. Those goons were speaking in a different language altogether. They warned me that they have petrol bombs and guns in their possession. I dared them to bring it on. BJP workers are hooligans/anti-social elements. “

Election Commission had earlier dismissed claims of Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee’s comments reiterating the bizarre theories of ‘poll rigging’, came hours after the Election Commission had dismissed her allegations about BJP stopping voters from polling. In a report, the Election Commission (EC) observed that polling was not disrupted in Booth No. 7 in Nandigram where Mamata Banerjee had camped herself for hours making wild allegations against BJP and EC.

It is pertinent to note that while Mamata Banerjee had parked herself in the area while on her wheelchair, there were slogans of Jai Shree Ram raised by the people of Nandigram. While sitting in the Boyal polling booth, Mamata Banerjee, for whom the Nandigram contest has become more of a battle of prestige, accused ‘goons from other states’ for the poll violence in Nandigram. She also called Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar to complain against the violence urging him to control the situation in the state.

Reportedly, EC said while reading out the report by observers, “Polling at PS no 7 ( Boyal Moktab Primary School) is going on smoothly. Hon’ble CM, who is also a contesting candidate, has left the place at about 3.35 pm after staying here for nearly one and half hour. It may kindly be noted that polling was not disrupted at any moment”.

Speaking to the media, the West Bengal CM said that she has complained to the Election Commission and the Home Minister about the ill-treatment being meted out at her and woman journalists at rallies by “BJP goondas”. Accusing EC of working at the behest of HM Amit Shah, Mamata Banerjee said “I have seen so many elections but have not seen such a badly conducted election so far”.

Another video has gone viral on the internet that shows a man spitting on the dough as he prepares to make Rotis. The visuals were captured at Shamli in Uttar Pradesh and have prompted much disgust from people on social media. It is not clear when the video was captured.

Shamli Police has said on Twitter that the accused has been taken into custody and appropriate action under the ambit of the law will be taken. The accused is currently being questioned over the incident.

There have been multiple incidents in recent times where cooks have been spotted spitting into the food. The Ghaziabad police had arrested one Mohammad Mohsin after a video of him making rotis while spitting on them at an engagement ceremony went viral.

Similarly, there was one incident involving one Mohammad Khalik in Delhi. Cases have also been reported at Meerut in Uttar Pradesh and elsewhere in the state.

Naushad’s spitting video was one of the first that came to the fore. There is some suspicion that there is a nexus of miscreants indulging in such activities. The Police had initiated an investigation into the same.

Numerous videos have come forward since then which suggests that the practice could be far more prevalent than previously suspected.

BJP files complaint against West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee with Election Commission for disrupting polls in Nandigram

Following the chaos that erupted during the polling in Nandigram on Thursday, a BJP delegation led by Shishir Bajoria met with the Election Commission on Friday morning and expressed their strong protest against TMC chief Mamata Banerjee’s actions.

Bajoria accused the West Bengal chief minister of disrupting the polling in Nandigram and stated that another delegation will approach the central election commission in New Delhi as well.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Shishir Bajoria said that BJP did not approach the Election Commission yesterday as it did not want to exert ‘additional pressure’ on the election body. Emphasising that Section 144 had been imposed in Nandigram in the view of the polling, the BJP contended that Mamata Banerjee had disregarded the law by creating chaos at the polling booth.

“We did not come yesterday because we did not want to create additional pressure on the EC. TMC is levelling allegations every day, and they are pressurising the EC on various issues. Yesterday Mamata Banerjee went to Nandigram. She went to booth 7 and sat there for 2 hours. A candidate can always go to the booth but she should not break the laws,” the BJP delegation said. 

Bajoria stated that Mamata Banerjee might have been wary of the speed with which the voting was done and had therefore resorted to disrupting the polls. “Maybe she thought reducing the speed of voting can narrow her defeat margin. Because of her, the voting process was slowed down. We are satisfied by whatever EC has done,” Shishir Bajoria told media.

EC to investigate allegations of poll rigging by Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee, on the other hand, has accused central forces and the EC of helping the BJP in the polling process. As the polling in Nandigram drew to a close on Thursday evening, Mamata Banerjee and her rival Suvendu Adhikari alleged each other of indulging in voter suppression. The Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal released a statement after the polling concluded on Thursday, saying that action is being taken over violations of EC rules in some regions. 

In response to Mamata Banerjee’s allegations of poll rigging, the Chief Electoral Officer said, “We are keeping a tab on everything. We have the machinery and people are also deployed everywhere. Everything is normal. Action is being taken wherever needed.”

The Election Body rubbished Mamata Banerjee’s allegations of crowding at polling station no 7 at the Nandigram seat saying that voting was not disrupted at any moment in the region.

Mamata blames central forces for disrupting the polling in Nandigram, CRPF refutes allegations 

As chaos ensued at the Gokulnagar polling booth in Nandigram, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee accused the Central Forces for playing a role in disrupting the election proceedings. The TMC on Thursday filed a complaint with the Election Commission against the CRPF jawans deployed in the state for the conduct of polls, accusing them of not allowing the poll agents to work and beating them up.

However, the CRPF in its defence quashed the allegations levelled by the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that they are baseless.

Sailendra Singh was implicated in the false case for recommending the arrest of mafia don turned politician Mukhtar Ansari under POTA after recovering a light machine gun (LMG) from the premises of the dreaded gangster.

CJM Varanasi has ordered the withdrawal of the case against former Deputy SP Shailendra Singh. I thank Yogi Adityanath ji from the core of my heart and would remain indebted to him for life,” he said in the tweet.

In a video that surfaced online, the teary-eyed ex-cop told the media that “a criminal case was lodged against me in Varanasi and I was put in jail. However, when Yogi Adityanath came to power, he initiated the process to withdraw the case. I have received a copy of the court order and I and my family will remain indebted to the chief minister for this gesture,” he said.

Singh recounts 17-years of trauma inflicted on him and his family by the then ruling SP dispensation

Shailendra Singh recollects how his career was ruined and the trauma his family had to face after the then ruling Samajwadi Party slapped dozens of charges against him for acting against the mafia don.

Heaving a sigh of relief, the former DSP said that he was happy that the truth had finally prevailed. He claimed that the criminal case filed against him was nothing but an arm twisting tactic of the then ruling party to silence him. He told the media persons that it was because of the criminal case that his life was ruined. He was unable to procure a passport or an arms licence, lamented the ex-cop.

The ex-cop stated that he still had ore than two decades of police service left when he had to resign. He became emotional speaking about how his family has suffered while he was in jail and stated that CM Yogi had talked to his family back then and had promised that he will get the false charges against the officer dropped.

The 2004 machine gun case for which Shailendra Singh had to resign from the office of the UP Police

For the uninitiated, this is the same case for which Shailendra Singh had to resign as an officer of the UP Police in 2004.

In 2004, Shailendra Singh was in charge of the Varanasi unit of the Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh. The DySP had raided the premises of Mukhtar Ansari in January 2004 and had recovered banned LMG (light machine gun) just before the assassination of BJP MLA Krishnand Rai and six others. The DySP had then filed an FIR and slapped POTA on the mafia don.

The DySP had intercepted a phone conversation where Mukhtar Ansari was allegedly trying to procure an LMG from a fugitive soldier named Babu Lal Yadav. Shailendra Sigh had raided on the basis of information gathered and had recovered the LMG and 200 live cartridges. Babu Lal Yadav and his uncle Munar Yadav, who was working as Mukhtar Ansari’s gunner, were arrested on the spot.

Following this, the Mulayam Singh government, who was at the helm of affairs in Uttar Pradesh then, started mounting pressure on the ex-cop to withdraw the case or remove Mukhtar Ansari’s name from the POTA case. Sailendra Singh, however, refused to buckle down under pressure and resigned from his post as the DySP in February 2004.

After a few months of his resignation, the then SP government implicated the officer in fake cases and put him behind the jail. Fighting all odds, Singh came out on bail and joined the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh.

Sailendra Singh kept fighting against the establishment to prove his innocence until the BJP government led by Yogi Adityanath came to power in the state and filed an application in the court to withdraw cases against Shailendra Singh.

Soon after Yogi Adityanath came to power, the UP government had filed a petition in the court to withdraw cases against Singh in December 2017.

On March 6 2021, the court finally approved the state government’s plea to withdraw cases against the former DySP.

The illegal empire erected by mafia don Mukhtar Ansari is now in shambles. The Yogi government has not only demolished his illegal properties and cracked down on his associates, they have now won a Supreme Court case against the Punjab government to bring the mafia leader to face justice in UP.

Here are seven tweets that prove TMC’s Mahua Moitra is a Champion of Cringe and the Queen of Stupidity

Mahua Moitra is a first-time, rookie member of the Lok Sabha who represents the constituency of Krishnanagar. Elected in 2019, she is notorious for her ill-advised remarks and also fancies herself as quite the champion of the people. A little dive into her history will reveal her deeply capitalist past of working as an investment banker for JPMorgan Chase, but that’s an inconvenient truth that isn’t in line with the quasi-socialist rhetoric Moitra espouses today.

Anyway, Mahua Moitra has carved herself a niche in the hearts of social media liberals, with her terminally online style of tweets. Ever ready to dish out her opinions on any given outrage-of-the-day issue, it is not surprising that she has accumulated a whole host of cringe and stupid tweets to her name. In this report, OpIndia goes over some of her greatest hits, or rather, greatest misses.

The list isn’t in any particular order, partly because we didn’t have it in us to be able to “rank” Moitra’s tweets on the basis of sheer stupidity and cringe-worthiness. So, this list can be viewed just as Mahua Moitra’s ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ on Twitter.

Calling Brahmins “Chotiwala Rakshasha’

One really does not have to go back far in order to see a prime example of a stupid Mahua Moitra tweet, which borders on anti-Hindu bigotry. Just two days ago, Moitra referred to Giriraj Singh’s gotra as “Chotiwala Rakshasha”. To explain the meaning of this phrase, “Chotiwalas” refers to devout Brahmin observers of Hinduism who follow the Shikha tradition of Brahmins, and a “Rakshasha” which literally translates to monsters.

Also in the same tweet, Moitra is “proud” of the fact that Giriraj Singh accuses Mamata Banerjee of being from the “Rohingya clan” i.e. siding with illegal migrants. That’s kind of weird, being “proud” of being referred to as a non-Indian ethnicity.

2.) Hypocrisy regarding Mamata’s religious pandering

Mahua Moitra has time and again condemned the BJP for, “creating an impression that there was a nameless, faceless enemy coming” for Hindus. In fact, she has gone as far as to say that, “I nor anyone from my family, ever felt it necessary to assert or to tattoo the fact on our foreheads that we are Hindus or Brahmins.”

However, despite these supposed beliefs, Moitra could not stop gleefully cheering for Mamata’s March 10 Nandigram rally comments. At this rally, Mamata Banerjee explicitly referred to her Hindu and Brahmin heritage, saying, “I would like to tell him that I belong to a Brahmin family and he should not play the religion card with me. Don’t teach Hindu dharma to me.”

Moitra has no issues with Mamata Banerjee reciting shlokas, citing her Brahmin heritage, re-asserting her Hinduness, as long as all of it is done in the service of defeating the BJP; a classic hypocrite without principles.

Suggesting that U.P. CM lacks jurisdiction to govern his own state

Moitra usually gets so angry whilst she writes her tweets, that her anger does tend to have some spillover effect on her tweets. After witnessing CM Yogi Adityanath issuing orders to clear out ‘farmer protest’ sites in the aftermath of the heinous violence at Red Fort on January 26th, Moitra apparently could not control her anger and had to put a tweet out.

The tweet is histrionic because of its cringe and idiocy. Chief Ministers do actually have the power to run their states and issue orders to protect peace and stability in their respective states. Unless you’re a child, it does not need to be explained that violent protests are not valid, not just in India, but in any free, fair democracy in the world. In the aftermath of a violent riot that saw the desecration of the Tricolor at Red Fort, what CM Yogi did was legally valid.

Engaging in inane political battles online as India was reeling from Republic Day violence

As India was still reeling from the violent riot at Red Fort on Republic Day, mourning the desecration of our Tiranga, Moitra inside her online Twitter cocoon was still raging at the BJP. She called the violent attack on our Nation’s heart and the desecration of our National flag an “I-told-you-so battle” victory for the BJP.

Clearly, Moitra is incapable of being the bigger person, not even tweeting once in order to condemn the violence that took place at the Red Fort on January 26. In times of a crisis, partisan politics was more important to Mahua Moitra than national solidarity. Additionally, the irony of writing “Long Live the Republic” in order to serve the interests of the people tearing down the flag of the Republic is not lost on us.

Casual Hinduphobia in order to smear CM Yogi Adityanath

If there is to be a catalog for Mahua Moitra’s worst tweets, casual anti-Hindu bigotry will make its appearance more often than not. In yet another attack on CM Yogi Adityanath and the people living in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Moitra refers to the people of U.P. as a “Vanar Sena commune”.

With her tweet, Moitra insulted the Vanar Sena or the army of monkeys that accompanied Lord Rama and his brother Lakshman on their way to Lanka and which also played a pivotal role in defeating Ravan’s humongous army. Moitra also insulted the sentiments of Hindus who venerate the army of monkeys for assisting Lord Rama in the pursuit to find his abducted wife. Hindus hold the army of monkeys in high regard, especially for their leader Lord Hanuman, who is revered as Lord Rama’s supreme devotee and is also worshipped as a God.

Not to mention, there have been umpteen incidents of violence reported in West Bengal when people not conforming to the TMC worldview are harassed, hounded, and subsequently killed.

CAA-related cringe, because of course!

This list really couldn’t have been complete if there was not a single Citizenship Amendment Act-related bad take from Mahua Moitra in it. Fortunately for us, Moitra does not fail to deliver when it comes to fearmongering about the CAA. In a tweet, she attacks the BJP for daring to talk about implementing a national law in an Indian state.

Mahua tries to take a dig at the BJP with her snarky tweet, but while doing so, she ends up exposing her own stupidity when she claims that she wouldn’t be furnishing her papers for the Citizenship Amendment Act.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill does not affect the citizens of India and it has no provisions to either disenfranchise the Indian nationals or curtail their fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution. Neither does it concern the deportation of any foreigner from the country. It only concerns persecuted minorities who have fled the neighboring three countries and have sought asylum in India.

However, we can guess that an overly educated, former investment banker at JPMorgan like Mahua Moitra is already aware of this. Why does she tell her followers the opposite? It’s not for us to speculate.

Failing to understand Parliamentary democracy

Mahua Moitra, who fancies herself as the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of India, once suggested on Twitter that street power was more important than having a majority in the Parliament. If India did not have a whole democratic system, with directly elected representatives of geographical constituencies going to the Lok Sabha in order to represent the will of the Indian people, Mahua Moitra might’ve had a point. However, that is not the case.

The message Mahua Moitra is trying to send through this tweet is clear. The strength in the Parliament does not matter, elections do not matter, even voting does not. What matters is the capability of community or interest groups to hold the state ransom in order to ensure that legislation is passed in their favor. If legislations are going to be decided on the streets, then what is even the point of holding elections?

Mahua Moitra does not have the answer to that question, and that is why she is more involved in writing performative liberal tweets on Twitter instead.

Mahua Moitra is not an unpopular politician, she is indeed quite popular with the urbanite liberals of India. Moitra’s way of doing politics, which is very online-centric, added with her generally liberal attitudes because of Western education, she really is the toast of the town for disaffected Indian liberals. In many ways, Mahua Moitra encapsulates the future of Indian liberalism, which will be more and more culturally influenced by the West.

So, if Mahua Moitra truly is the future of Indian liberalism. We don’t have anything to be worried about do we?

On Friday, ‘farmer leader’ Rajesh Tikait claimed that his car was shot at by BJP workers in Rajasthan. The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) posted a video on Twitter today, alleging that BJP’s ‘goons’ had tried to murder him at the Tatarpur village on the Bansur Road in Alwar village, Rajasthan. He termed the video as the visuals of the murder of democracy.

But surprisingly, while the protesting farmers were recording the video of the allegedly attacked car, they themselves were attacking the car. And this act of damaging the car was seen in the video recorded and shared by themselves.

In the video, a man can be heard giving running commentary on what had allegedly happened in a very agitated tone. While the camera points towards the rear windshield of the car, with some damage on the right side, the speaker says that Rakesh Tikait was attacked in Alwar district by ‘BJP leaders, anti-farmer leader Narendra Modi’. As soon as the man says that the ‘car was shot at’, someone hits the windshield with a stick, breaking the glass on the spot wher it was hit with the stick.

After that the commentator continues pointing towards the brand new damage, ‘you can see that Rakesh Tikait’s car was shot at, stone pelting has been done on the car by BJP leaders, Narendra Modi, anti-farmer leaders’. The man also claimed that BJP leaders also threw ink at Rakesh Tikait, apart from firing at him.

Even though Tikait and other farmers claim his car was shot at, there is no sign of any bullet entry on the car. Bullets generally create small hole, with cracks around it. But the existing damage of the windshield which is there at the start of the video appears to be result of hitting by a blunt object. It is known whether it also came from hitting by the stick, or whether there was indeed stone pelting on the car.

This is not the first time the ‘farmer leaders’ are damaging their own car to cry victim. In January this year, Punjab Kisan Union leader Ruldu Singh Mansa had smashed the windscreen of his car by a hockey stick, and had later claimed that Delhi police had prevented him from joining the protests, and had attacked his car.

Later it was emerged that Delhi police had refused to allow him to travel in his car to attend the meeting on farm bills with the union govt, as he had obtained requisite prior approval for his private car.  After he was stopped by police, he became angry, picked up a hockey stick, and smashed the rear windscreen of his own car, and after that he alleged that the Delhi police attacked his car.

Mumbai: Despite having 83 corporators in BMC, BJP gets zero allocation from Mayor’s Rs 190 crore fund, Mayor from Shiv Sena defends

Despite having 83 corporators in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the second-highest after Shiv Sena’s 97, the saffron party did not receive a single paisa from the Mayor’s Rs 190 crores fund, a report published in the Times of India said.

By contrast, Shiv Sena received a maximum of Rs 163 crores for its 97 corporators. Congress, with 29 corporators, bagged Rs 9 crores and the NCP got Rs 11 crores for its 8 corporators. Even Samajwadi Party, which has six corporators, managed to get Rs 4.75 crores from the Mayor’s fund. Corporators from other parties and independents got Rs 2.25 crores.

BJP corporator Vinod Mishra lamented the partial behaviour meted out to the corporators belonging to the saffron party. He alleged that they had been cheated once again and accused the Mayor of the city of doing injustice to the people of the city.

“We have been cheated once again. The Mayor’s Fund is not the private fund of the mayor. It is taxpayers’ money. The BJP’s 83 corporators have also been elected by the people of Mumbai and by not giving any money to BJP corporators, the mayor is doing injustice to these people,” Mishra said.

Earlier, the BJP was snubbed with a paltry allocation from the BMC standing committee’s kitty. BJP had then got Rs 140 crores from the Rs 650 crore fund passed by the civic standing committee. Sena had then received a staggering Rs 340 crores.

However, Mumbai mayor Kishori Pednekar, who is from Shiv Sena, said she could not allocate double funds to the BJP since they had already received Rs 140 crores from the standing committee. But, Pednekar did not elaborate on how Shiv Sena corporators qualified to receive Rs 163 crores when they were already given Rs 340 crores by the standing committee.

“The BJP has already received Rs 140 crore from the standing committee. So we can’t give them double funds through the Mayor’s fund. I have given funds to all group leaders and also to all corporators who gave request letters for funds,” Pednekar said.

She further alleged that when BJP was in power in the state, it was providing funds only to BJP MLAs and not to legislators from other parties. However, here too, Pednekar overlooked the fact that Shiv Sena had extended support to BJP while it was in power from 2014 to 2019.

Standing committee chairperson Yashwant Jadhav was more brazen in admitting prejudice against the BJP. He termed it as mayoral discretion to decide the allocation of funds given to corporators of different political parties.

“There is a convention that funds are distributed as per the corporator strength of each party. But there is no such rule when allotting standing panel and Mayor’s funds; they are given as per the discretion of the panel chairperson and mayor, respectively,” Jadhav said.

The civic administration had cut down on the standing committee’s amendment fund in the budget to Rs 650 crore from last year’s Rs 750 crores. The panel earmarks money for corporators for work in their constituencies and then the general body amends the budget further, which is known as Mayor’s fund.

While the battle for West Bengal this election cycle is mostly between BJP and TMC, there are a couple of other smaller parties that are vying for their electoral share as well. One of those parties that is trying to capture some ground in Bengal is AIMIM, the party of Asaduddin Owaisi.

Recently, Mamata Banerjee has been trying her best to assert her long-lost Hindu identity, in a bid to whitewash her ‘Muslim appeasement’ image. To that end, Mamata Banerjee today said in Cooch Behar, “A person came to Bengal from Hyderabad, he took money from BJP. Don’t allow him here”.

Mamata Banerjee was insinuating that Asaduddin Owaisi, who is predominantly from Hyderabad is on the payrolls of BJP since he is Bengal to divide the Muslim vote.

Owaisi took to Twitter today to hit back at Mamata Banerjee’s comment. Invoking the Gujarat riots of 2002 yet again, Owaisi said that at that time, Mamata had voted against a motion to condemn Gujarat ‘pogrom’ of Muslims. He asked if Mamata Banerjee did this for free, for a price or for a ministerial position.

He further said, “Only criminal gangs divide up territories between themselves & attack each other when someone enters. Since I’m not part of this criminal syndicate, it’s natural that Mamata Banerjee is rattled. You can’t buy people who have no Gotra. You can’t scare people who know no fear”.

This comment was in response to Mamata Banerjee playing her Hindu card while campaigning in Nandigram. Mamata said when she visited a temple, the priest asked her about her gotra. “I told him ‘Maa Maati Manush’. That reminded me of my visit to Tripureshwari temple where too the priest had asked my gotra and I told him ‘Maa Mati Manush’,” she said, adding that “actually I am Shandilya”.

The comment had created quite a storm with BJP and Owaisi both slamming Mamata for different reasons. While BJP called Mamata a seasonal Hindu, Owaisi had said that there is a race between candidates to prove who is more Hindu.

However, the current comment by Owaisi seems to have far more communal undertones than Mamata Banerjee trying to prove that she is a bigger Hindu than PM Modi.

When Owaisi said that “You can’t buy people who have no Gotra”, it was a clear allusion to his religion vs the supposed religion of Mamata Banerjee. Considering all Hindus do have a Gotra, when Owaisi says that “you can’t buy people who have no Gotra”, it would appear that Owaisi is saying that while Hindus are ‘up for sale’, ‘honourable’ Muslims are now.

This observation was made by several people on Social Media as well.

Interestingly, while Owaisi had slammed Mamata for being ‘communal’ in trying to prove her Hindu credentials, Owaisi himself is seen here making a wildly communal statement that has Hinduphobic undertones.

Asaduddin Owaisi and his party’s hate for Hindus, however, is not unknown. Only recently, days after the violent clash between the Hindu and Muslim community in Bhainsa in the Nirmal district of Telangana, the police had arrested 22 people, including one sitting AIMIM councillor. As per reports, the unnamed AIMIM leader has been charged with an attempt to murder and armed riot. 

Back in 2020, controversial AIMIM leader and former Maharasthra MLA Waris Pathan was seen inciting Muslims at an anti-CAA rally in Gulbarga, Karnataka, in the presence of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on February 16. In a veiled threat to the Hindus, Pathan resorted to inciting Muslims by stating that the time had come for the Muslims of the country to unite and ‘achieve freedom’. He added that even though Muslims are just 15 crores in the country, they can still dominate over 100 crore Hindus.

Evidently, while Owaisi blames every other politician for being ‘communal’ for trying to prove their Hindu credentials, he seems to believe that his own anti-Hindu statements and the actions by his party members are a shining example of the famed Congress brand of ‘secularism’.

A day after a Rohini man committed suicide after murdering his wife and children, another shocker has been reported from the national capital. In a similar incident, the wife of a Delhi constable allegedly strangled her two children before hanging herself to death at her house in Delhi’s Ghitorni village on Thursday. The deceased woman’s sons, both around 3 years, have survived and are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. While the elder son is stable, the condition of the younger child is said to be still critical.

The Delhi constable, whose wife has died of suicide has been identified as Sushil. He is posted at the Vasant Bihar police station in Delhi. As per reports, when Sushil reached his home at around 8 PM on Thursday, he knocked on the door but there was no response from inside. As the door was locked from inside, the constable immediately called the police for help.

Arriving at the spot, the police broke open the door and found that Sushil’s wife Rajesh was found dead, hanging from a ceiling fan.

“Police reached the spot at Ghitorni village and the door of the house was found latched from inside,” police official Ingit Pratap Singh said, adding that the woman was found dead inside. The couple’s two sons, Shresth and Samarth, were found unconscious in the bathroom and were rushed to a hospital. The condition of Shresh is critical, while Samarth is out of danger, as per doctors.

According to an eyewitness who helped break open the door, the woman’s body was hanging from the ceiling fan while her kids were found in the bathroom. He further added that blood was splattered on the faces of the two kids and cloth was wrapped around their neck.

According to Zee News, the constable and his wife had a disturbed marital life. The reason behind the alleged suicide is said to be their frequent fights. Meanwhile, the police are interrogating constable Sushill to rule out any foul play.
