UP Police Sub-Inspector Intesar Ali suspended for keeping beard without permission

0

An Uttar Pradesh police sub-inspector (SI) named Intesar Ali was reportedly suspended after he grew a beard without seeking permission from the department. Ali was warned many times to either shave the beard or seek the requisite permission. Ali did not take permission and continued to keep the beard.

According to SP Baghpat Abhishek Singh, police personnel are allowed to keep a beard but, except Sikhs, they need to take the required permission. He told that Ali was asked to take permission twice but he did not comply. Ali was consequently suspended for violating the rules of the department.

“If any police personnel want to keep a beard, he has to seek permission for the same. Intesar Ali was repeatedly asked to seek permission but he did not comply and kept the beard without permission,” the SP said.

Although beards are not allowed without permission for cops in UP police, there is an incentive for growing moustaches. Personnel of the Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) are paid Rs 250 per month for maintaining moustaches, which was raised from Rs 50 per month earlier in 2019.

Ali says he sought the permission

SI Ali is a resident of Saharanpur. He had joined the Uttar Pradesh police as Sub Inspector and was posted in the Baghpat district for three years. He was posted in Ramala police station before the lockdown. Ali has claimed that he had been seeking the permission to keep beard since 2019 but the department did not grant him permission till date.

‘Mughal Prince Tucy’ lashes out on AIMIM’s Asaduddin Owaisi, calls him ‘Bewakoof, and Gadha’

Yakub Habeebuddin Tucy alias Prince Tucy, who claims to be the descendant of Bahadur Shah Zafar, seems to be extremely miffed with Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao and AIMIM’s chief Asaduddin Owaisi for the miseries Hyderabad has been left to grapple with, in the aftermath of the incessant rains in the last few days.

Raising concerns over the damages the recent Hyderabad floods have caused, especially in the old city, ripping it worth thousands of crores and leaving several people dead, Tucy lambasted at the political stalwarts for turning a blind eye towards the state which has voted them to power.

Prince Tucy lambastes at “Joker” Asaduddin Owaisi, referring to him as “bewakoof and gadha” (foolish) and slams him for showing more interest in the politics of Bihar instead of concentrating on Hyderabad. “Bewakoof…gadhe, aise waqt jab awaam ke paas pani nahi hain peene ku tu apni siyasat chala raha hain.. Bihar mein logo ko ja kar samjha raha hain…mein awaam se kahun ga yeh jab dikhe ise chappal se mare” (You fool, at the time when your people in Hyderabad do not even have water to drink, you are busy doing politics in Bihar… I urge the people of Hyderabad that whenever they encounter him they should hit him with a chappal), lashed out Prince Tucy.

He said that the main purpose behind him releasing a statement is to draw the government’s attention towards the adversities the one and a half hours of rain has thrown the city into. He said that several colonies in the older parts of the city were inundated following the heavy rains. He said that it been 8 days, but the government has done little to help the affected. It is appalling that in these 8 days, CM KCR has not bothered to release even one statement, he has only sent his son KT Rama Rao (Minister for Municipal Administration in Telangana government) to inspect few areas, opined Tucy.

In a no-holds-barred attack, Prince Tucy asked: “Is it for this day that the people of Hyderabad picked up KCR from the footpath and placed him on the CM’s seat”? Are you here just to get snaps clicked at the “joker’s” daughter’s wedding? Was it for this day that you were made the CM, lambasted Prince Tucy.

Hyderabad floods

For the last few days, Hyderabad has been bettering heavy rains which left several parts of the city flooded. Frightening visuals showed vehicles being swept away as streets got submerged in water, and massive downpour caused huge damage in the state capital and nearby areas. Disturbing visuals emerged showing people on their rooftops after floodwater entered their houses.

On Thursday, the state government said that 50 people had lost their lives due to heavy rain and flash floods and early estimates showed losses at around Rs 6,000 crore. While Telangana is the hardest-hit by floods, neighbouring states – Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka – have also been affected.

Karnataka HC grants bail to Congress MLA’s relative Naveen who was accused of ‘blasphemy’ by Islamic mobs for Facebook comment

0

P Naveen, the relative of sitting Congress MLA from Pulikeshinagar Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, has been granted bail by the Karnataka High Court as reported by Live Law. Naveen was booked under sections 153A and 295A of the Indian Penal Code and section 67 of the Information Technology Act over his alleged derogatory comment regarding Prophet Mohammed on Facebook. His bail plea was rejected earlier this month by Additional City Civil and Sessions court.

While accepting his bail application, the court observed that the petitioner could not be refused bail merely on the ground that there was threat to his life, as was contended by the Special Public Prosecutor, as this would indirectly affect his fundamental right.

Justice BA Patil, before whom Naveen’s bail application has come up, noted in the bail order, “I am of the considered opinion that the apprehension of the Special Public Prosecutor that if he is released on bail there is a threat to the life of petitioner himself and it may create unrest in the society can be taken care off by imposing some stringent conditions. Merely on the ground that there is a threat to the life of petitioner if the bail application of the petitioner is rejected, it would indirectly affect the fundamental right of the petitioner, when the only allegation against the petitioner is that he has posted some derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed in his Facebook account and subsequently the same has been withdrawn”.

Public prosecutor blames Naveen for Islamist mob violence in Bengaluru

Special Public Prosecutor Prasanna Kumar had contended before the court that Naveen had posted the remarks on Facebook to create unrest in the society. Holding Naveen responsible for the violence unleashed on the streets of Bengaluru following his alleged post, the SPP said that petitioner has created a disturbance in the locality and that there was a “commotion” in which two police stations and 57 vehicles were set on fire and many more properties and vehicles were damaged. Declaring Naveen a habitual offender, the SPP urged the court not to grant him bail as there was enough prima facie material available against him.

Background of the Case

Bengaluru had witnessed horrific riots in the month of August where thousands of violent Islamists had attacked the MLA’s residence and the police stations in DJ Halli and KG Halli. Around 60 police personnel were injured in the violence unleashed by Islamist mobs on the streets of Bengaluru and many vehicles were torched. During the investigation, Naveen had reportedly said that he often responds to anti-Hindu posts on social media and that he was being targeted for protecting the interests of Hindus on social media. Naveen had received death threats on social media after his alleged post.

Is Modi govt giving Coronavirus vaccines for ‘free’ only to Bihar? No, that’s not how it works

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday while releasing the BJP manifesto in Bihar for upcoming elections said that the BJP promises free coronavirus vaccines in Bihar, whenever the vaccine is made available.

The remarks by the senior BJP leader did not go down too well with some and called the move of not promising ‘free vaccine to all’ as ‘cruel’.

Furthering her rant, Singh wondered what is the use of PMCARES fund.

Well, since the ‘journalist’ does not really like to keep herself updated, the vaccine development in India is actually backed by PMCARES fund.

Pro-Congress trolls then got the wheels of their fertile imagination rolling and started wondering when will the vaccine be made available to them depending on election schedule of states.

That this conversation was had in full seriousness baffles one.

Similarly, other trolls immediately put out a message to chief ministers of non-BJP states to figure out a way to make vaccines free for citizens.

However, that is not the case. Here is how vaccination works in India:

Vaccination is state subject

BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya took to Twitter to clarify that vaccination is a state subject.

He explained that like all other immunisation programmes, the Centre will provide vaccines to states at nominal rate. This will include BJP-ruled and non-BJP ruled states. Then it is up to the states to charge for vaccines or not. Health is a state subject and should BJP come to power in Bihar, they have promised to make the vaccine free. Similarly, non-BJP ruled states like Delhi, Maharashtra, West Bengal can choose to either make vaccines free for all or charge its citizens for the same.

This could be compared to the Shramik Special trains ferried amid the lockdown for stranded migrant workers and others who wanted to go to their home state. The Indian Railways had charged nominally from the respective state governments for running the trains. It was then up to the state governments whether to recover the fare from migrant workers for journey on Shramik Special trains.

In essence, no, Bihar is not getting special treatment from Centre ahead of elections. Centre will give vaccine, whenever it is developed, to all states at nominal price and the state governments will decide whether to make it free or charge people for the same.

West Bengal: TMC workers attack BJP workers with lathis in Bardhaman for taking out a rally in support of farm bills

On Wednesday, workers of Trinamool Congress brutally thrashed BJP workers at Purbasthali in Bardhaman district of West Bengal for organising a rally in support of newly enacted farm laws.

According to the reports, the BJP workers had organised a rally in support of agriculture sector laws passed by the Modi government in the last parliament session. As BJP workers took out a rally, the TMC workers attacked them with lathis, leaving many BJP workers and leaders injured.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms. In the video, it can be seen how TMC workers unleashed attacks on BJP workers with sticks. Several people with injuries were seen lying on the roads.

Senior BJP leader Bipul Das and other senior party workers have been injured. The West Bengal police reached the spot after getting the information about the incident. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

The attack on BJP workers at Bardhaman district comes weeks after Trinamool party workers, after joining hands with West Bengal police had unleashed violence on BJP workers for protesting against Mamata Banerjee-led government.

WB police mercilessly beat up BJYM and BJP workers, TMC goons join in

On October 8, the West Bengal Police had carried out lathi-charge against BJYM and BJP workers on the streets of Kolkata for protesting against the political murders in Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal. The social media platforms were flooded with disturbing visuals of the violence that erupted during the ‘Nabanno Chalo’ rally organised by the BJYM at Kolkata as BJP karyakartas.

Acting on the behest of the state government, the West Bengal Police came down heavily on the BJP karyakartas by raining lathis and using tear gas at them. Shockingly, the Trinamool party workers too joined the violence against the BJP workers.

The goons allegedly associated with the TMC attempted to disrupt the peaceful rally and attacked the BJP workers. Crude bombs were hurled and the protesting karyakartas were subjected to ‘chemical liquid attacks’ as well.

We had reported pictures of the WB government’s excesses on the BJP and BJYM karyakartas. As per sources OpIndia spoke to, 450 karyakartas of the BJP had been arrested and over a thousand were injured during the crackdown on the ‘Nabanno Chalo’ protest by the BJYM.

‘Not a serious crime’: Islamic scholar defends Muslim man who beheaded the French teacher, says it is not something he should be punished for

The last week’s incident (October 16) where a high school teacher named Samuel Paty in Paris was beheaded by an Islamic fanatic for showing cartoons of prophet Mohammed to his students, has left the French people shocked.

The 18-year-old Muslim youth, a refugee from Chechnya, Russia had not only beheaded the teacher but also uploaded the gory pictures on Twitter, before being shot dead by the French police. Since then, French President Emmanuel Macron has described the incident as a terrorist attack. However, recently, an Islamic scholar went on to normalise this harrowing act by saying that the Muslim teen had not committed any serious crime.

In an interview to a Turkish TV channel, Sheikh Ali Al-Yousuf of the International Union of Muslim Scholars recently said that from the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence, the Chechen teen had “not done any serious crime”. According to the Islamic scholar, the teen did not do anything that offensive that he should be punished for according to the sharia law.

‘The only punishment for insulting the Prophet is death’

According to Al-Yousuf, the only punishment for insulting the Prophet is death. The only fault of the Muslin teen was that he carried out the punishment by himself. According to sharia, the punishment should be carried out by the Islamic State, said the Islamic scholar.

“As I told you, if it is proven that the person who did this is a Chechen Muslim, and he did this out of anger because of the violation of the Prophet Muhammad’s honor, and if he indeed was a Muslim who did this in defense of the Islamic shari’a, then we let Allah be his judge. He may have carried out the punishment mandated by Islamic jurisprudence”.

The Islamic fundamentalist talking to the Turkey TV channel said that people should instead focus on the reason that forced the teen to do what he did. Normalising the crime committed by the 18-year-old teen, Al-Yousuf said that it was the growing ‘Islamophobia’ in France and elsewhere in the world which was prompting such extreme reactions, like in the case of the French teacher.

Blames ‘Islamophobia’

“Anyone who follows what is happening in France – the attacks against Islam and Muslims, and especially what we have seen lately – will see that there is an obvious media, political, cultural, and ideological campaign against Islam, Muslims, and the Prophet Muhammad, against every Muslim individual, as well as Muslim symbols, like the hijab. All this is crystal clear – it is called Islamophobia.

The Muslim scholar said that since Islam was the second-largest religion in France, and the number one religion in Europe, people in the West are insecure and think it must be attacked, They do not want Islam to advance in those places, opined Al-Yousuf.

“I would like to say that in light of all these actions, we must take a look at those who incite and distort and those who attack our Prophet Muhammad, in a country that claims to be secular and democratic, a country that claims to respect human rights, religions, opinions, and ideas. I do not know what kind of respect this is with this cursing, insulting, and attacking of Islamic symbols. This is the problem. Before we talk about this act (the murder of Samuel Paty), its judgement according to the sharia and our opinion about it… We must firmly focus on all the hostile and disgraceful actions that have been directed against Muslims for many years, actions supported by the government and extremists in France and elsewhere that were meant to distort Islam’s image in the West,” he furthered.

‘Decapitation is the punishment of blasphemers’, Islamists in Pakistan after the Charlie Hebdo incident

This reaction from the fundamentalist, however, does not come as a surprise. The reprinting of the cartoons on Mohammad by Charlie Hebdo had also attracted similar reactions from Islamists worldwide. Last month, Pakistan witnessed protests by tens of thousands of Muslims, soon after Charlie Hebdo decided to reprint cartoons mocking Prophet Mohammad, which prompted Islamic terrorists to launch a terror attack against them in 2015. “Death to France” was chanted and the protesters called for a boycott of French products. Protestors had put out posters which read: “Decapitation is the punishment of blasphemers.”

Indian Islamists had marched demanding decapitation of Kamlesh Tiwari

Back in 2015, lakhs of Islamists in India, openly supported by Islamist organisations, religious leaders and politicians, had marched on the streets demanding the beheading of Kamlesh Tiwari, a former Hindu Maha Sabha leader who had commented on the sexuality of Mohammad. Tiwari was charged under the NSA by the then state government in UP and jailed for several months. In 2019, some Islamists had entered into his office and stabbed, shot him to death, fulfilling the long-standing demand by Islamists that anyone who ‘insults’ their prophet should be beheaded.

Sweden joins other European countries to ban China’s Huawei, ZTE from upcoming 5G networks, calls China biggest threat

0

Joining the ranks of other European countries, Sweden has become the latest country to ban Chinese telecom groups Huawei and ZTE from its 5G mobile networks.

According to the reports, Sweden’s telecoms regulator on Tuesday said they have decided to ban Huawei and ZTE from new installations ahead of next month’s 5G spectrum auctions after country’s armed forces and security services advised them.

Accusing China of spying and ‘technology theft’, the telecom regulator has now given directions to telecoms operators to remove equipment made by the companies from their existing infrastructure for core functions by 2025.

The Swedish telecom regulator said that four wireless carriers who are expected to bid for frequencies in an upcoming spectrum auction for the new 5G networks must not use equipment from Huawei or ZTE. The ban on Chinese equipment now opens opportunities for Huawei’s main rivals, the Swedish company Ericsson and Finland’s Nokia.

Klas Friberg, head of Sweden’s security services, said that China is one of the biggest threats to Sweden. He added that China was aiding its economic development and military capabilities by “extensive intelligence gathering and theft of technology, research and development”.

“This is what we must consider when building the 5G network of the future. We cannot compromise with Sweden’s security,” Friberg added.

Sweden follows US and European countries to ban Chinese 5G infrastructure

The ban against Chinese tech-giants by Swedish authorities comes after western countries, including the US and its allies, had decided to exclude Chinese telecoms equipment from the planned new 5G mobile networks.

Many European countries, joining hands with the US, have been imposing strict controls over Chinese companies developing 5G networks, alleging that Huawei and ZTE equipment may be used by Beijing for spying.

The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) had designated Huawei Technologies Co. and ZTE Corp. as national security threats, in a move to drive out the Chinese manufacturers from the US market. Earlier in May, the US administration had issued an order barring Huawei and its suppliers from using American technology and software.

In July this year, the United Kingdom had ordered to remove Huawei equipment from its 5G network by 2027, becoming one of the first European countries to do so.

Jio joins hands with Qualcomm to develop 5G

Amidst the ban on the Chinese tech-giants Huawei and ZTE Corp, Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Platforms Ltd. has joined hands with networking major Qualcomm Inc. to develop 5G solutions and accelerate efforts to bring the high-speed network to the world.

In a statement, Jio said that it’s wholly-owned US-based unit Radisys Corp. has partnered with Qualcomm Technologies to “fast track the development and roll-out of indigenous 5G network infrastructure and services in India. It also added that they have achieved over 1Gbps milestone while conducting trials on the Jio 5G NR solution, leveraging the Qualcomm 5G RAN Platforms.

Jio and Qualcomm also said that they intend to work together to fast-track the development and roll-out of indigenous 5G network infrastructure and services in India. Currently, only a few countries, including the US, South Korea, Australia, Switzerland and Germany offer 1 Gbps speeds to 5G users.

With Jio venturing into developing 5G network and its support infrastructure, India need not to rely on equipment developed by Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE, thus removing a potential security threat to country’s infrastructure. India is expected to auction 5G airwaves in 2021.

Eros Now apologises for publishing vulgar Hinduphobic content on Navratri

Eros Now, a digital OTT platform owned by Eros International Media Ltd, has apologised for publishing offensive Hinduphobic content on Navratri. The company wrote, “We at Eros love and respect our cultures equally. It is not, and it has never been, our intention to hurt anyone’s emotions. The continuous attack on Hindu festivals

Hindu festivals have always been under attack by the woke and so-called liberal sections of society. Earlier, lawyer Deepika Singh Rajawat, who represented Kathua rape victim’s family but failed to attend over 100 hearings, shared a controversial caricature. She was criticized heavily for posting Hinduphobic content during the festival. During Rakshabandhan this year, PETA put up hoardings across the country, urging people to avoid leather products that have nothing to do with Rakshabandhan whatsoever.

The Delhi Government has ordered the schools to ‘sensetize’ students against bursting crackers during Diwali via WhatsApp and other methods as they won’t be attending school due to Covid-19 restrictions. Interestingly, the air quality of Delhi is on the decline due to stubble burning, which is often ignored by the section that blames Diwali for the pollution every year.

The mocking of Hindu festivals is not limited to India. The niece of Senator Kamala Harris posted a caricature in which Kamala was depicted as goddess Durga and President Donald Trump as Mahishasur. After backlash, she quietly deleted the post.

Government of India issues warning to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey over misrepresentation of Indian map

After micro-blogging site Twitter disrespected country’s sovereignty by depicting Leh as part of China, the Modi government has written a scathing letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey expressing disapproving over misrepresentation of map of India.

Ajay Sawhney, Secretary of Ministry of Electronics and IT (MEITY) has written a stern letter to CEO of Twitter Jack Dorsey conveying strong disapproval of the government after the social media platform mentioned Leh as the part of China.

In his letter, the secretary IT reminded Twitter that Leh is headquarter of Union Territory of Ladakh and both Ladakh as well as Jammu and Kashmir are integral and inalienable parts of India governed by the Constitution of India.

According to sources in the ministry, Ajay Sawhney, on behalf of the government, has asked Twitter to respect the sensitivities of Indian citizens. He added that any attempt by Twitter to disrespect sovereignty and integrity of India, which is also reflected by the maps, is totally unacceptable and also unlawful.

Giving a warning to Twitter, Secretary IT also mentioned that such attempts not only bring disrepute to Twitter but also raises questions about its neutrality and fairness as an intermediary.

Twitter shows Leh as part of China in live broadcast

On October 18, Nitin A Gokhale, national security analyst took to Twitter to say that Twitter was marking Leh as part of the People’s Republic of China. Gokhale, who was doing a live session from Leh, said that Twitter marked his location as, “Nitin A Gokhale was live. Jammu and Kashmir, the People’s Republic of China”.

While reporting it on Twitter, he said he had tested multiple times, but it kept showing the location as the People’s Republic of China. The location remained the same after he entered Kushak Bakula Airport as his location. Another user (@rohitpandita000) went live on Nitin’s request, and the result was the same.

Later, following the controversy, Twitter stated that the issue was ‘technical’ and added that the issue of tagging of Leh as part of China in location tag for the live broadcast has been resolved. As per media reports, a Twitter spokesperson in an email said that they were made aware of the issue and it has been rectified.

Importance of INS Kavaratti

The induction of ‘INS Kavaratti’ into the Indian Navy will enhance its preparedness amid ongoing tension with China. It showcases the growing capability of the Indian Navy, GRSE, and the nation in becoming self-reliant through indigenization. It is being touted as a significant step in India’s national objective of “Atmanirbhar Bharat”. The warship was delivered amid strict Covid-19 restrictions, which makes it a praiseworthy achievement in itself. INS Kavaratti is the fourth and last one of the Kamorta Class Stealth ASW Corvette. INS Kamorta, INS Kadmatt, and INS Kiltan have already been commissioned in the Indian Navy.
