Shikara paints Kashmiri Muslims as ‘secular’ and Kashmiri Hindus as ‘communal’: Divya Razdan in conversation with OpIndia

As soon as director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s much-awaited film Shikara, which had claimed to depict the “untold story” of the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus by Islamic terrorists, hit the theatres yesterday and found itself in the centre of controversy. Several Kashmiri Hindus and average viewers vociferously alleged that the movie did not do justice to the Kashmiri Hindu cause and watered down the genocide of the Hindus.

The director of the film might think that the movie did full justice to what was promised, Divya Razdan, a Kashmiri Pandit and a defence journalist and researcher do not think so. Speaking to OpIndia Hindi editor Ajit Bharti, Divya said that being a Kashmiri Pandit she disowns the movie completely which she felt is fabricated and devoid of facts.

OpIndia got in touch with Divya Razdan after her video at the screening of the movie went viral on social media where she is seen confronting the filmmaker, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and openly criticising him for watering down Islamic terror in the valley in his movie.

In the video clip, Divya Razdan breaks down and takes on director Vidhu Vinod Chopra for sticking to the safe secular stance throughout the movie, contrary to what the trailer of the movie promised. She accused Chopra of watering down Islamic terror in the valley and instead, showing Kashmiri Pandits as the malefactors. In a video clip shared on Twitter, Divya is seen slamming director Vidhu Vinod Chopra on the selective representation of Kashmiri Pandits in his movie. The worst part about the video that went viral, however, was the manner in which Vidhu Vinod Chopra had mocked Razdan’s pain and anguish by first clapping and then saying that he will make ‘Shikara 2’ for her.

In a conversation with Ajit Bharti, Divya Razdan exclaimed how in the name of showing the agony of Kashmiri Pandits, the filmmakers’ have depicted Kashmiri Pandits to almost being responsible for their own exodus. Divya said that the film is a sample of Muslim appeasement and gives out a message that the Muslims in Kashmir were extremely compassionate and peace-loving, it was the Hindu’s who were responsible for their own sufferings.

Divya accused the director of making a purely commercial film by presenting a typical love story and overlooked the main issue of the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and the exodus which the filmmakers had promised to raise through their movie.

She lambasted the filmmaker saying the movie was an eyewash and a disaster. Instead of showing Islamic radicalisation in the valley, the filmmakers have portrayed the Kashmiri Hindus as communal, thundered the irked journalist. She said that the movie showed Muslims as ‘secular’ and never depicted the slogans like La Illaha Illallah that preceded the genocide of Hindus by Islamic terrorists.

Divya further said that she is completely disappointed because the makers of Shikara, including director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, writer Rahul Pandita, and even some journalists like Aditya Raj Kaul had given the viewers a completely different impression with the trailer of the movie. They told the whole world that the movie depicted the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and the exodus but in the movie, neither genocide was shown nor exodus, exclaimed Divya.

Divulging that she was urged to remain silent after watching Shikara but she chose to speak up, Divya in conversation with OpIndia Hindi editor Ajit Bharti said that she likes to call herself a Kashmiri Hindu rather than a Kashmiri Pandit because it keeps her close to her reality. Divya opined that the atrocities meted out at the Kashmiri Pandits in the valley was because of the sole motive to convert Kashmir into an Islamic state.

Divya said that this has become a reality today, and no one can deny that Kashmir has been completely Islamized today. Speaking to Ajit Bharti she said: “When we heard that a director is finally going to show our tragedy, my interest in it grew. At the time of the trailer, we had some questions in our mind, yet we thought that we would wait for the film. Today we saw this film, Sushil Pandit was also present with me. But there was no talk of the massacre of Kashmiri Pandits anywhere from the first scene of the film to the last. Instead, there was only one lover in the film. This is also fine because it is your film and you have the right to show….”

“…But then what was the need to call it ‘Kashmiri Pandit, an untold story’. You should have said clearly that we are making a common commercial film not to depict the pain of Kashmiri Pandits, but only for entertainment. He (Vidhu Vinod Chopra) should have said that this is a simple love story and not about the agony of Kashmiri Pandits! By doing this he has mocked our feelings, but we refuse to become an object of scorn, so we are opposing this film, said Divya Razdan.

“I was a spokesperson for a Kashmiri organization. After watching the trailer of the film, I thought, why not questions the filmmakers or people attached to this film. That is why I asked the film director, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, that you could have simply called it a love story. And if you claim that this movie is a depiction of the agony of Kashmiri Pandits, then why have you kept a Muslim in the lead role, why not a Hindu? It is clear that they want to hide the Islamic radicalization in the valley. What was shown in the film was a mockery of our painful story”, claimed the journalist.

“In exchange for these questions, I was trolled, I was defamed and singled out. The organization I was associated with also disassociated itself from me.” These people distanced me from them because they probably believed that Vidhu Vinod Chopra may have made some contribution to Kashmiri Pandits, but I think otherwise.

Divya Razdan said that her objection was that Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the director of this film should not have propagated his movie as a movie on the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits. She said: “We could not understand our tragedy thirty years ago and even today we are not being allowed to understand it”. Divya also said that had Chopra marketed the movie as a mere love story, nobody would perhaps have an issue. But Chopra used the pain of the genocide to market his movie and then showed nothing of the Genocide.

She asks OpIndia editor to watch Shikara and decided on his own whether the Kashmiri Pandits have been cheated or not?

Recalling the adverse circumstance, created by radical Islamists, which compelled her family to migrate from Kashmir, Divya said “When Islamic radicalization started in the valley, a hit list was printed. One day a few Islamic terrorists with AK-47’s hidden in their shawls came knocking at our door. They knocked on the door taking my father’s name, asking us to call him out. But Papa stepped out the back door of the house after hearing the voice of the extremists. The Muslim family living in our neighbourhood noticed by father escaping from the back-door. On opening the door, when the mother said that my father was not at home, the Muslim family in the neighbourhood told the terrorists that he had just run from behind and asked them to run and grab him quickly before he flees.”

“.. by the grace of God, my father and we were able to escape safely that day.” Sitting in a truck at night, we came to Jammu from Kashmir valley. After some time we came to Delhi barefoot and empty-handed. We were so helpless at that time that my mother had to give away her gold chain to the doctor for her treatment in the hospital”. Divya recalled that the doctor, though being a Hindu himself even despite hearing our problems, did not agree to give her free treatment”.

“Even today, people tell me that I should have fought then. But the question is, how could we confront those blood-thirsty Islamic terrorists who were ready to do anything to convert Kashmir into an Islamic state? They had arms and ammunitions, could we even think of confronting them with stones?” said Divya.

In three decades, the real story of Kashmiri Pandits has never been told. History became a legend, legend became myth and in three decades, the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits was turned into a voluntary exodus from the valley. The denial of Islamic bigotry and genocides of Hindus is not a recent phenomenon. It has been an ongoing project since the very inception of the Indian State.

Shikara was expected to be the first real effort by the entertainment industry to bust this organized campaign of genocide denial, but unfortunately, the viewers have come out with a completely adverse opinion about the movie.

Delhi police unearths gangster Chhota Shakeel’s plan to kill influential politicians and judges, FIR registered: Read details

The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has registered an FIR against Chhota Shakeel on Friday after it received inputs that underworld don is plotting to kill influential political and judicial figures in Delhi and neighbouring states.

According to the reports, the First Information Report (FIR) was registered against Chhota Shakeel on January 27 on the complaint of a police officer, who had received information from a source about the “planned killings”, the Delhi police said.

“The underworld operatives of D-gang have managed to arrange high-grade weapons. The delivery of weapons was also arranged by Shakeel and the communication for delivery was done through ”end-to-end” encrypted messaging applications,” added the FIR.

Reportedly, Shakeel, a close aide of India’s most wanted fugitive Dawood Ibrahim, had allegedly assigned the task to his hitmen operating from the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi.

A police officer said that after tracing some messages on WhatsApp it was found that in the wake of the recent developments in the country, the underworld don, linked with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), was planning to kill a few prominent political personalities.

On the basis of technical analysis, the police said that this plan was made to “infuse terror in the minds of the people and create instability in the country.” No specific targets have been named in the FIR or come up during the investigation and the matter is being probed further, the police said.

Senior leaders from parties like the Shiv Sena and the RSS have remained on the hit list of the D-Company and international criminal organization had earlier plotted to assassinate BJP and RSS leaders in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Days after death of infants at Shaheen Bagh, Supreme Court takes suo motu cognizance to stop involvement of children in protests

0

In a huge setback to ‘protestors’ at Shaheen Bagh, the Supreme Court on Friday took cognisance on its own to “stop the involvement of children and infants in demonstrations” following the death of a four-month-old infant at Shaheen Bagh on January 30 in Delhi.

Reportedly, the Supreme Court has listed the hearing of the plea on its website and the issue will likely be taken up for hearing on February 10 by a bench headed by Chief Justice S A Bobde.

This development comes after National Bravery Award winner Zen Gunratan Sadavarte had written to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) seeking directives for stopping children from being used in protests days after reports had emerged that at least one infant had died after parents took them to Shaheen Bagh for protests and exposed them to Delhi’s bitter cold.

“The Shaheen Bagh protesters at New Delhi, include women, senior citizens, newborns and children, ignoring the fact that newborn babies need a lot of attention and care as they cannot express their pains in particulars thereafter also ignoring the conditions unfavourable to the children, they are brought to the protest place which is violative of their child rights and natural justice,” the letter written by Zen Gunratan Sadavarte said.

In one of the most heart-wrenching of recent times, four-month-old infant Mohammed Jahan lost his life after suffering from severe cold and congestion during anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh. However, Nazia, the mother of the four-month-old infant Mohammad Jahan, is unapologetic about her son’s death but instead has chosen to ignore his death and rejoin the ‘protests’ at the Shaheen Bagh.

The mother, who had brought her child to the protest site exposed her son to severe cold eventually leading to his death has no regret whatsoever. She has instead blamed the Modi government for her son’s death and has vowed to continue to the protest and said she is ready to sacrifice her other two children as well.

Following the incident, there was shock and anger against the parents of the kid for allowing her one of their children to die. Netizens and citizens across the country had asked how could a mother enable her children to lose life for a petty political cause. What shocked the most is the casual reaction of the mother regarding her son’s death.

Another 2-month-old infant had also lost her life due to weather conditions in Delhi after her mother used to take her for anti-CAA protests at Jamia and Shaheen Bagh.

Addition to this, the anti-CAA protestors have been using kids to peddle their political agenda and have kept women and children at the forefront of these so-called protests. The small kids, who seem to have no idea regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act, have been used as a ‘prop’ at these protests.

Just yesterday, a shocking video had emerged in which kids are seen holding posters of the four-month-old infant Mohammed Jahan, who lost his life after suffering from severe cold and congestion during anti-CAA protests in Shaheen Bagh.

Shockingly, one of the protests of the event can be heard in the background claiming that the death of the four-month-old kid was nothing but a ‘Qurbani’ or sacrifice for the anti-CAA movement.

Earlier, an NGO named ‘Save Child India’ had filed a complaint with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) registering their concerns over the fact that children are being used in protests as props. The NGO had said that using children as props for anti-CAA protests was a gross violation of the rights of children and calls it child abuse. This complaint came after several children were seen raising slogans and protesting in Shaheen Bagh.

While Pakistan ignored its citizens in coronavirus hit Wuhan, India had offered to evacuate them along with all neighbours: Foreign minister tells Rajya Sabha

0

While Pakistan refused to evacuate their citizens from China in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, India had offered to help Pakistan and other neighbours to help and board the flight to come from Wuhan. External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar reiterated this in the Rajya Sabha earlier today as he briefed the House regarding the situation of Indian nationals in China, especially in Wuhan.

Replying to a question asked by BJP MP Roopa Ganguly, Jaishankar said in the parliament, “at the time when two flights were going, we had told all the students and the larger community in Wuhan that we were prepared not only to bring back our own people but bring back all the people in our neighbourhood who would like to come back.” He also informed that although the offer was made to all neighbours, only seven nationals of Maldives chose to avail the offer. “The offer was made to everybody,” the foreign minister clarified.

Referring to reports about Pakistan refusing to evacuate its citizens from Wuhan, Roopa Ganguly had asked whether India can offer to evacuate them as humanitarian assistance.

He also informed that 80 Indian students are still stuck in Wuhan. They include 10 students who were not allowed to board the evacuation flights by Chinese authorities as they had shown symptoms of coronavirus. The rest 70 voluntarily chose to remain in China.

Yesterday, MEA spokesperson, Raveesh Kumar had answered a question raised by a reporter who highlighted that some Pakistani students trapped there were requesting the Indian government to help them. “We have not received any request regarding it from Pakistan Government. But, if such a situation arises and we have resources then we will consider it,” he said.

Pakistan has refused to evacuate its citizens highlighting a dubious stance. While the health minister says he is following the WHO standards, Pakistani President Dr Arif Alvi said that Pakistan’s decision is in accordance to Hadith. He had said, “Prophet’s directions regarding disease outbreaks are a good guide even today, ‘If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, do not enter it, but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are in it, do not leave that place’ (Bukhari & Muslim) Let us help those stuck there.”

The coronavirus, that originated in Wuhan has taken more than 600 lives in China. The new figures brought the total number of confirmed cases rose to 31,161. India has cancelled all visa and travel to China until further notice.

BJP leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya, Mukul Roy detained by police in pro-CAA rally in Kolkata

Bharatiya Janata Party’s national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya along with senior BJP leader Mukul Roy was detained by the Kolkata police in South Kolkata just after they began a rally in favour of Citizenship Amendment Act.

Reportedly, the rally was just started at Tollygunge Phari at 1 pm in South Kolkata and was scheduled to reach Hazra about two km away. The residence of Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee is near Hazra.

Vijayvargiya told the reporters, “We don’t expect such behaviour from the police. The way we were stopped and arrested is authoritarianism and unconstitutional. We were supporting the CAA in a democratic manner. The entire country is supporting it. We condemn the way the government is trying to stop us”.

However, police denied the reports of their arrest. Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police(south division) Meeraj Khalid said, “We have detained the BJP leaders. They have not been arrested”.

Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee is extremely vocal against the CAA, BJP and its policies but didn’t utter a word on the violence and destruction of the public property done by the Muslim mob in the state of West Bengal. In December Muslim mobs had resorted to extreme violence after Friday prayers in West Bengal. They unleashed violence across the state by burning public infrastructure, toll plaza, railway stations and destroyed crores worth of tax-payers money in the name of protests against CAA.

The Muslim Mob also thrashed a Railway Police Force personnel at Beldanga railway station complex. They had pelted stones at ambulances and vandalized the Beldanga railway station. In Kolkata, they assembled in Park Circus and disrupted traffic for hours to protest against Citizenship Amendment Act.

Fact-check: Ashok Chakra replaced by ‘La ilaha ilallah’ at an anti-CAA rally in Hyderabad

A picture from an anti-CAA protest in Hyderabad has gone viral on social media, which shows leftist and Islamic mob carrying Indian National flags in which the revered Ashok Chakra has been replaced with the Islamic Shahada ‘La Ilaha Illallah’ meaning “there is no other God but Allah”.

The Indian National flag distorted by Islamists in Hyderabad

A Facebook user Rajat Ranjan shared a photo of a crowd moving on the road on January 30, 2020. Sharing this picture Ranjan claimed that during the demonstration in Hyderabad against the newly introduced Citizenship Law, the Indian flag had been distorted and the Ashok Chakra on the flag was replaced by the Islamic Shahada.

Screenshot of Rajat Ranjan’s Facebook post

This claim appeared to be true and was indeed from Hyderabad in Telangana. In an anti-CAA-NRC march, protesters assembled in large numbers near Hyderabad’s Lower Tank Bund area to protest against the CAA and NRC and the tricolour they carried indeed had the Ashok Chakra replaced with the Islamic Shahada.

This picture was apparently taken by photojournalist Vinay Madapu. Being the first to share the picture on January 4th, media outlet The New Indian Express had credited Vinay Madapu for clicking the picture.

The picture was then shared widely on various social media platforms. Scientist and columnist, Dr Anand Ranganathan also shared TNIE’s tweet from his verified Twitter handle writing: “From the anti-CAA march in Hyderabad today, what appears to be the Islamic Shahada [“There is no god but the Allah”] printed on the Indian tricolour in place of the Ashoka Chakra”.

It is pertinent to note here that the anti-CAA protest which has been raging on for weeks, all across the country, has exposed itself to be deeply Islamic and anti-India and anti-Hindu in nature with posters like F*ck Hindutva that distorted the Om symbol to several slogans like ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ and ‘Jinnah wali Azaadi’, that exposed the Islamist mobs’ deep-seated hatred for Hindus.

Delhi Elections: BJP accuses AAP of distributing pamphlets seeking Muslim votes to defeat PM Modi after campaign period ended

BJP’s Hari Nagar candidate in the Delhi assembly elections Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga has levelled an explosive allegation against the Aam Aadmi Party of distributing hateful posters ahead of the upcoming Delhi polls. Bagga has alleged that AAP has distributed pamphlets in Delhi urging Muslims to vote for it to defeat PM Modi.

In a video shared by Bagga on his official Twitter handle, children are seen stating that a large chunk of controversial pamphlets was kept in the area.

“The coming 8 of February is very important. After the formation of the Narendra Modi government, the subjugation of Muslims has increased. With Ram Mandir, Article 370, Triple Talaq and Citizenship Bill,  Modi made Muslims feel like a second-class citizen. This is no ordinary election but an election to unite and defeat all communal forces,” the pamphlet reads.

It may be noted that the campaigning for the Delhi elections tomorrow ended yesterday as per Election Commission rules, and no campaigning is allowed. Therefore, distribution of the pamphlets in support of AAP is a major violation of the model code of conduct for the elections.

One of the 70 assembly constituencies in Delhi, Hari Nagar, which has 40 per cent of the Sikh population, will see an electoral battle between BJP candidate Tajinder Singh Bagga and AAP’s Rajkumari Dhillon. The Congress party has fielded Surender Sethi from this constituency. Bagga has alleged that the controversial posters were distributed at the behest of AAP candidate Raj Kumari Dhillon.

AAP pamphlet
AAP pamphlet distributed with newspapers on 6 February

Just yesterday AAP had distributed a pamphlet with newspapers in Muslim majority areas in Delhi seeking their votes for the polls of 8 February. Calling Kejriwal as the ‘Messiah’ of Muslims, the pamphlet had said, “Vote for Kejriwal for the betterment of the community. Kejriwal is the messiah of the community. A vote for Modi is like digging the grave of his community. Vote for the community.”

This is not the first time that the Aam Aadmi Party is seen cosying up to the Muslim community. In fact, the strategy to appease Muslims to seek their votes is a classic page out of AAP’s playbook. In 2017, AAP was accused of distributing a pamphlet asking Muslim residents living in the Bawana assembly constituency of Delhi to vote for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the by-polls. The pamphlet, which showed a cabinet minister in Kejriwal government-Imran Hussain, made a communal appeal to Muslims to vote for AAP, as any division in the votes of the Muslim community could mean a result like that in Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, which were swept by the BJP.

Similarly, in 2013, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was accused of seeking votes in the name of religion by exhorting Muslims to rally behind the Aam Aadmi Party. The Election Commission then issued a notice to Kejriwal stating that his communal appeal for votes to the Muslim community had violated the Model Code of Conduct.

“Bribe money goes into Manish Sisodia’s pocket and used for sending biryani to Shaheen Bagh”, BJP MP Pravesh Verma on Sisodia’s OSD’s arrest

Reacting to the arrest of an aide of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on corruption charges, BJP MP Pravesh Verma has said that the bribery money goes inside the pocket of the AAP leader and is used for sending biryani to Shaheen Bagh.

Speaking to ANI, Pravesh Verma said, “This is for the first time in five years that such a complaint has been made. OSD is just a title, the one who is the owner is our Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia Ji. The bribe money goes into his pocket and used for sending biryani in Shaheen Bagh.”

The Officer on Special Duty to Manish Sisodia, Gopal Krishna Madhav was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday night after a trap was set to catch him red-handed taking a bribe of 2 lacs rupees. His arrest was in connection with a case related to Goods and Services Tax (GST).

However, Manish Sisodia called for stringent action against the OSD on Friday morning in a tweet.

Ahead of Delhi Assembly elections, the Shaheen Bagh protests are taking mischievous turns exposing itself day by day. On Wednesday, children were seen campaigning for Aam Aadmi Party candidate and Okhla assembly MLA Amanatullah khan along with a biryani feast held at Shaheen Bagh. He was earlier spotted with Shaheen Bagh mastermind Sharjeel Imam and was seen with the mob rioting and protesting against CAA in Jamia Nagar in December 2019.

In another incident exposing the  Shaheen Bagh protests, the Enforcement Directorate had made an explosive revelation stating the close links among PFI, Aam Aadmi Party, Bhim Party, Congress, and others. The report had revealed that the Shaheen Bagh is being funded by Popular Front of India (PFI). The leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party and Congress are in constant touch with the PFI Chief.

Kapil Gujjar, the one who shot three shots in the air shouting “only Hindus will prevail” ended up resulting as a major embarrassment for Aam Aadmi Party when proofs of him being a member of the Aam Aadmi Party were disclosed by Delhi police.

Delhi Elections: EC sends notice to Arvind Kejriwal over violation of model code of conduct

Citing violation of Model Code of Conduct, the Election Commission has today sent a notice to the Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The notice was sent just a few hours before Delhi is all set to go to the assembly polls.

Kejriwal had earlier uploaded a video on his Twitter page in which he was seen taking a swipe at his ideological rivals-Congress and BJP. In a bid to take a dig at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Kejriwal even claimed that he had challenged Shah for an open debate but the Home Minister ran away. Kejriwal then misquoted Bhagavad Gita stating, “It is written in Gita that a true Hindu never leaves the battlefield”.

Furthermore, the AAP supremo also accused Congress and BJP of perpetuating religion and caste-based politics in the national capital while extolling AAP’s politics which he claimed is based on its work.

Taking cognisance of Kejriwal’s flagrant disregard of Model Code of Conduct, the Election Commission sent a notice to the Delhi Chief Minister stating that the video had a potential to disturb the communal harmony of the national capital.

Delhi is set to go to polls on Saturday, February 8, 2020, the results of which are expected to come out 3 days later on February 11.

“Truth has two sides”: Shikara director Vidhu Vinod Chopra dismisses Kashmiri Pandit woman’s criticism of watering down Islamic terror in the movie

The much-awaited movie Shikara, directed and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is out in the theatres today. While it was being expected that the movie would depict what happened to Kashmiri Pandits all those years ago, the deep-seated anti-Hindu bigotry among Kashmiri Muslims, the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and the exodus and the resulting anger and the radicalisation that made Kashmir the land of jihad, but, it has somehow left many viewers disappointed.

Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in a placid response to a Kashmiri Hindu woman, criticising him for watering down Islamic terror in the valley in his movie, said that the “truth has two sides”. Everyone has his own perspective and may have different opinions, said the filmmaker.

The Director was responding to a Kashmiri Hindu woman, Divya Razdan, who confronted the filmmaker after watching the movie, which promised to do justice to the emotions that have shaped the anger of Kashmiri Pandits.

Divya breaks down and takes on director Vidhu Vinod Chopra for sticking to the safe secular stance throughout the movie, contrary to what the trailer of the movie promised.

Castigating Chopra for making a mediocre and disappointing movie, Divya says that you have not shown Islamic radicalisation, nor have you shown the suicides. “I feel like crying after seeing such a mediocre movie which is devoid of facts”, said Divya.

“My entire community was killed because of Islamic radicalisation in the valley. But you chose not to show the Jihadist slogans raised, the rape and murders of Kashmiri Hindu’s in the hands of the radicalized Jihadists”, said Divya.

She angrily accuses Chopra of playing politics. “You be happy with your commercialisation, but as a Kashmiri Pandit, I disown your movie”, said the visibly upset viewer.

Read- With the ‘Shikara’ trailer out, expected guilt tripping of Hindus for merely sharing the story of their Genocide has started

Responding to Divya, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who was also present at the screening, dismissed her allegations saying that every truth has two sides. Almost mocking the woman, he said that he will now make sequel 2 for her. Giving a very weird justification for his claim about truth having multiple facades, he said, “every truth can be viewed from this side or that side, from the top or from the bottom. It is not that truth becomes true only when it is viewed from one side. Everyone has their own viewpoints, like when drinks water, or milk or tea, some gets more intoxicated from tea while others get more intoxicated from milk, but the tea remains milk.”

When OpIndia got in touch with Divya Razdan, she lambasted the filmmaker saying the movie was an eyewash and a disaster. She said that the director has misled the viewers by not even touching upon the topic of Islamic radicalisation in the valley, which was the main cause for the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits. Instead, the filmmakers have portrayed the Kashmiri Hindus as communalists, thundered the irked viewer.

Divya further said that she is completely disappointed because the makers of the movie, including director Vidhu Vinod Chopra, writer Rahul Pandita, and even some journalists like Aditya Raj Kaul had given the viewers a completely different impression with the trailer of the movie. They told the whole world that the movie is on the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and the exodus but in the movie, neither genocide was shown nor exodus, exclaimed Divya.

Talking about a particular scene in the movie where a Kashmiri Hindu is shot, Divya said that “it appeared that the bullet was shot on its own. Purposely the shooter was not shown in the frame”, said Divya claiming that the “entire movie is a big disaster for a Kashmiri Hindu cause, because, the movie does not show our cause and we Kashmiri Hindus unitedly disown the movie”, said Divya.

Divya divulged that the director has tried to internationalise the matter by showing that the hero, who is a Kashmiri Pandit is writing letters to the American President. Divya accuses the director of maligning the Kashmiri Pandits. She says that Vidhu Vinod Chopra, by giving this false twist to the movie, depicts that we (Kashmiri Pandits) did not trust the Indian Army and our government and sought help from America. Which she says is completely untrue. She accuses the makers of distorting and twisting facts and making a purely commercial movie which is not based on facts.

In another video, a viewer, just out of the theatre shares a similar opinion. He also said that the movie was mediocre. The viewer said that Chopra’s mother, whom the director dedicated the movie too, would be proud that her son has made a good commercial movie but won’t be happy since he has not made a righteous movie, based on facts. The viewer here also talks about the hero of the movie writing to the American President, which he also believes is a clear violation and distortion of facts.

Stating a historical fact that after Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad made a clarion call saying “Islam Khatra mein hain” that Hazratbul said “Kafiron Kashmir chodo”, the viewer said that the cause was not political nor International, but religion was the main cause, which Chopra fails to depict in the movie.

Yet another viewer held the opinion that not even two per cent of what actually happened to the Kashmiri Hindus in the valley has been touched upon in the movie. The makers of the movie have empathized more with the Jihadist than the Kashmiri Pandits, claims the viewer.
