Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann orders the closure of a liquor factory in Ferozepur

0

On Tuesday, 17th January 2023, Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ordered the closure of a liquor factory in Zira town of the Ferozepur district of the state. Punjab’s chief minister shared this through a tweet from his Twitter handle in which he said, “After consulting legal experts, a big decision has been taken in the public interest. I have issued orders to close the Zeera Liquor Factory.”

Farmers in Ferozepur have been making the demand to close this alcohol plant for a long time. Accordingly, it was shut down by the Aam Aadmi Party leader.

It is notable that Punjab’s chief minister Bhagwant Mann has been in trouble due to his alcoholism in the past. He was caught allegedly drunk a number of times. A report said that Mann was deplaned from a flight to India in Germany as he was drunk. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) refuted the claims, saying Mann was not deplaned for being drunk. Earlier, AAP had claimed he was deplaned due to bad health.

In January 2019, Bhagwant Mann publicly promised that he would not drink anymore. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had called it a ‘great sacrifice for the people’ at that time.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal even raised the issue of Mann’s drinking habit in the parliament, something he has allegedly refused to let go of even after becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab. After becoming CM, reports have suggested he visited places, including Gurudwaras, while being in an inebriated state.

Kanjhawala Death Case: Accused Ashutosh gets bail with stringent conditions

0

Ashutosh Bhardwaj, an accused in the Kanjhawala case, has been granted bail by a Delhi court on 17th January 2023. Police had detained all the accused in connection with the painful accident of a young woman Anjali Singh on the 1st of January. One of the accused, Ashutosh, has managed to get bail from the Delhi court. The hearing of the bail application of accused Ashutosh was going on for several days in Rohini Court of Delhi.

The court has granted bail to Ashutosh on a bond of Rs 50,000. Rohini court put a condition that the accused will not leave Delhi without the permission of the court. The court also said that the accused will not tamper with evidence, and will not contact witnesses.

The Delhi Police had opposed Ashutosh’s bail arguing that the case was very serious and that they were in the process of imposing section 302 (for murder) in this case. Rohini court had earlier reserved the verdict on Monday, January 16, on the bail plea of the accused.

The Delhi Police counsel had claimed that the accused Ashutosh Bhardwaj had harassed and misled other accused persons in the case. The accused did not even inform the police about the incident, the Delhi Police counsel said. Ashutosh’s lawyer, on the other hand, argued that the accused was not in the car at the time of the incident. He argued that the charges against his client were bailable.

On Monday, the police said that the investigation was at a crucial stage. “We are in the process of adding a section for murder and some important witnesses in the case have to be examined. If released on bail, he may obstruct the investigation”, the police said.

The Blood Samples of the accused in the Kanjhawala case have been handed over to the Delhi Police by the FSL. It will now be clear whether the accused were drunk on the night of the incident. It will also be checked whether the deceased Anjali Singh had alcohol in her blood or not. It is being told that FSL has also prepared its report and soon, they will hand it over to the investigation team.

On January 1, 20-year-old Anjali Singh died in an accident in Kanjhawala. The woman was on her way home on a scooty when a car hit her and dragged her for about 12 km. The police had arrested seven people, including five occupants of the car, in connection with the case.

‘Don’t do this crime again’: Netizens mock Congress supporter over cringe Bharat Jodo Yatra ‘rap’, hail Dhinchak Pooja as a better artist

On Tuesday, one of the Congress supporters and social media users named Anam Ali released a ‘rap song’ praising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by him. Ali also urged the viewers to share the video and make it reach Rahul Gandhi. However, the rap seemed so torturous that netizens could not stop hailing self-proclaimed rap artist Dhinchak Pooja, who was once upon a time criticized for terming her so-called art as rap music.

The netizens mocked Anam as she literally read out paragraphs in no rhythm in a ‘psalm’ which she termed was a rap. She described the Bharat Jodo Yatra and its journey and also read out the profile of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Netizens mock Anam Ali for her ‘rap’ on Bharat Jodo Yatra

The netizens shared memes, lauded Dhinchak Pooja, and criticized Anam for terming her attempt as ‘rap’.

After the video went viral, many people shared their funny reactions to it, with one person writing, “Don’t do this crime again,” meaning that the rap on its own is terrible and horrible. The user also included a meme where a man could be seen offering water to a woman which had subtitles that stated please drink some water.

Another person said that this is enough internet for him today, indicating that he had reached the saturation limit and would no longer use the internet.

Meanwhile, many users continued to praise Dhinchak Pooja and call Anam Ali as ‘cheap copy’ of the self proclaimed rap artist.

Further adding a fun meme from one of the popular Bollywood movies named ‘Hera Pheri’, a user identified as Umdar Tamker indicated that people unnecessarily criticized Dhinchak Pooja when Anam Ali is worst than her.

One of the Twitter users named Vikrant Kumar also hailed Dhinchak Pooja and said that Anam Ali’s Bharat Jodo Yatra rap had made the self proclaimed artist tolerable. “She made Dhinchak Pooja tolerable,” he tweeted as he quoted the video shared by Anam Ali.

One user offered another hilarious perspective, writing that the Congress party would not support a song like this due to the poor quality of the rap. The user also included a meme in which individuals are seen pleading to stop this.

Another person said that he felt envious of deaf individuals, suggesting that the music is so horrible that he wishes he had never heard it before.

According to the Twitter bio of Anam Ali, she is hard core Congress supporter and calls herself ‘Ambedkarwadi’. She is from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and usually keeps on posting ‘rap videos’ from her home terrace on Twitter. Earlier on December 6, Anam had posted a ‘rap’ on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and had again read out paragraphs in no rhythm, calling it a ‘rap’.

‘Rap’ artist Dhinchak Pooja

Pooja Jain, popularly known as Dhinchak Pooja on the other hand came into a rise in the year 2015 after she released her first cringe pop song named Swag Wali Topi. Later she self-proclaimed herself as a rap artist, YouTuber and went on to release more cringe raps like Daaru (2016), Selfie Maine Leli Aaj (2017), Dilon Ka Shooter (2017), Baapu Dede Thoda Cash (2017), and Aafreen Fathima Bewafa Hai (2017).

Though Dhinchak Pooja managed to obtain millions of views on every individual release, her songs have received widespread criticism, and she has been regarded as part of a new trend of creating cringe-worthy videos to obtain web popularity. YouTube banned all of the song videos on June 11, 2017, in response to an individual complaint of privacy infringement.

Anam Ali’s rap released on January 16 was widely criticized and mocked by the netizens today, so much so that they felt tolerating Dhinchak Pooja would have been more easy.

‘My gender is emotions of straight people being utterly confused’: ‘Non-binary bio male’ expresses euphoria over ambiguity of gender expression

A non-binary adult male has shared on TikTok that they feel euphoric when people are unsure about their gender expression. The user, reportedly an LGBTQ activist, said that it gives euphoria to instil chaos and see people confused about the individual’s gender identity.

In a video shared by the popular Twitter handle Libs of TikTok, a TikTok user who identifies as non-binary, shared in a video that they have been misgendered as a woman, even to the point of being called “ma’am” or “Miss”. The user, who goes by the handle @ange_heim, stated that while this is not correct, they find it amusing and exciting.

According to Ange, the fun and chaotic part involve responding to the innocent and polite greeting in the deepest voice possible, “in a way that makes them go, what?”

“I think that my gender is the emotions of straight people being utterly confused,” said Ange, impishly. “Like I just want to instil chaos.”

“That’s my pronouns. That’s my gender. That’s my identity. That’s my sexuality. It gives me all the euphoria to cause f*ckery,” Ange added.

Ange’s views are in line with the queer theory that views challenging and subverting traditional gender norms and categories as a means of combating societal oppression. Queer theorists argue that these norms, such as the binary distinctions of male and female, man and woman, and adult and child, oppress individuals and limit their self-expression.

The queer theory views any form of subversion of traditional gender norms as a means of liberation from societal oppression. Examples of this include drag queens reading stories to children and adults expressing their gender in a non-conforming way, including the use of they/them pronouns. Such acts are seen as revolutionary in challenging and dismantling the societal oppression perpetuated by the heterosexual white male norm.

Maulana Tariq Jamil’s bank account with Pakistani Rs 49 billion frozen: Pakistani media reports

On January 17, the bank accounts of Maulana Tariq Jamil of Pakistan were reportedly frozen for hiding Pakistani Rs 49 billion. Several social media users linked to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and other parties alleged that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had seized the bank accounts of businesses related to religious leader Jamil.

Social media users questioned Jamil about the source of such vast wealth. Notably, no official statement has been released by the Pakistani government.

On the other hand, Yousaf Jamil, son of Tariq Jamil, has called the reports baseless.

In a tweet in Urdu, Yousaf said, “Since yesterday, the reports of Maulana Tariq Jamil’s accounts being sealed are making rounds on social media. It is being said that there are billions of rupees in these accounts. There is no truth in these reports. Spreading fake news about someone is a bad act.” (Translated using Google Translate)

Tariq Jamil is no stranger to controversies. He had earlier gone viral on social media after he was seen describing his dream of sucking the “honey-filled fingers” of Pakistan’s founder Mohammed Ali Jinnah. The video, dating back to August 2020, had gone viral last year.

Jamil, who belongs to Tablighi Jamat, also courted controversy for blaming women for the Wuhan Coronavirus. During a prayer meeting, Maulana Tariq Jamil spoke about the plagues in ancient times and claimed that these were natural disasters sent by God.

He claimed that begging for repentance from Allah was the only way for humans to rid themselves of the calamity. He also offered sermons on the kind of clothes women should wear.

Lashkar-e-Taiba deputy chief Abdul Rehman Makki listed as a global terrorist: A timeline of India’s efforts at the UN

0

India’s relentless efforts to list Pakistan-based terrorists have paid off as Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) deputy chief Abdul Rehman Makki has finally been listed as a ‘global terrorist’.

India had made listings of Pakistan-based terrorists a top priority of its United Nations tenure during 2021-22, according to the sources. A total of five names were submitted by India for designation under 1267 in 2022: Abdul Rehman Makki (LeT), Abdul Rauf Asghar (Jaish-e-Mohammed, JeM), Sajid Mir (LeT), Shahid Mahmood (LeT), and Talha Saeed (LeT).

Each of these five names was initially placed on technical hold by one member state while all other 14 members of the Council agreed to their listing.

Makki’s case was submitted on June 1, 2022, by India with the US joining as a co-designating state. One member state placed a technical hold on 16 June 2022 and after the six-month period again renewed its hold in mid-December, according to the sources.

Even though the successful listing comes just after India left the Council, this was a culmination of long-standing and persistent efforts made over the last several months, along with partner countries.

‘Who is LG, where has he come from? He is sitting on our heads’, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal once again attacks Lieutenant Governor of Delhi

On January 17, 2023, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal once again lashed out at the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi. Clashes between Delhi CM and LG have been a constant feature of Kejriwal’s tenure as the Chief Minister of Delhi. While speaking in the Delhi assembly, Kejriwal asked who is lieutenant governor, where has he come from, and how he is sitting on Delhi government’s head?

Arvind Kejriwal’s latest tussle with LG Vinai Kumar Saxena is over the issue of sending some Delhi teachers to Finland at taxpayers’ expense.

Arvind Kejriwal further said, “Time is very powerful, nothing is permanent in the world. If one thinks that one will remain in power forever, then that’s not going to happen. Today we are in power in Delhi and they are (BJP) in power in Centre, tomorrow it might happen that we will be in power in Centre.”

On the second day of the winter session, Kejriwal addressed the assembly and claimed that LG Saxena had prevented Delhi teachers from receiving training in Finland. According to him, LG delays vital documents and obstructs government operations.

Arvind Kejriwal further said that sending Delhi teachers to Finland is essential to provide good education to the children of the poor people of India. He said, “They (BJP) don’t want teachers to visit Finland. Many MPs of the BJP and their children have studied in foreign countries…If we want to provide better education to children of the poor, then who’re they to stop? It’s a feudal mindset & Delhi LG has that mindset.”

Arvind Kejriwal said, “Not even my teachers checked my homework as the LG scrutinises my files. The LG is not my headmaster. People have elected me as chief minister. Who is this LG?”

Earlier on Monday, the Lieutenant Governor denied scrapping the Delhi government plan, and said, “Any statement, on the contrary, is deliberately misleading and mischievously motivated. The government has been advised to evaluate the proposal in totality and record the cost-benefit analysis in terms of impact on quality of education being provided to students, to assess the effectiveness of various foreign training programmes for teachers in the past.”

Delhi Police uncover terror conspiracy to carry out targeted killings of politicians ahead of Republic Day: Details

0

A week after two suspects were arrested for killing a man, Delhi Police have uncovered a complex terror web stretching from Pakistan to Canada with “handlers” directing hit jobs on political leaders in India, in return for hefty cash rewards.

The revelations come ahead of the Republic Day celebrations in India. Delhi Police has now launched a search for at least four people suspected to be part of the terror conspiracy in which gangsters planned “targeted killings” of certain political leaders through two criminals – Naushad and Jagga.

Last Thursday, Delhi Police Special Cell arrested the two men from the national capital’s Jahangirpuri area after the body parts of an unidentified man were found in the area. An investigation revealed that the victim was beheaded on camera and visuals were then allegedly shared by the duo with their handler sitting in Pakistan. Police also recovered pistols, two grenades and 22 live cartridges from their possession. The police said that the suspects had murdered the man and dumped his chopped body “to prove their credibility” to their handlers.

The arrested suspects – Jagjit Singh Jagga (29) who also goes by the names of Jassa, Yaqoob alias Kaptaan, a resident of Uddham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand – and Naushad Ali (56), a resident of Jahangirpuri, were arrested under Section 120B of the Indian Penal Code and the 25 Arms Act. UAPA has also been slapped against the killers, who were produced before the Patiala House Court on Friday and sent to police remand for 14 days.

According to the Police, Jagga and Naushad met in 2020 when both of them were lodged in Uttarakhand’s Haldwani Jail. In April 2022, Naushad who was released after the end of his 16-month imprisonment returned to Delhi where he was contacted by Jagga who had jumped parole. Both of them started living together at Naushad’s residence in Jahagirpuri and got involved in trafficking drugs and firearms.

Naushad was meanwhile in touch with LeT terrorist Sohail whom he had met while both of them were lodged in Tihar Jail in 2011. According to sleuths of the Delhi Police Special Cell, Sohail asked Naushad to carry out Jihadist activities in return for huge sums of money.

Naushad also twice visited Nepal in 2019, in an attempt to obtain a Nepali passport that would facilitate his travel to Pakistan. Naushad, however, failed to obtain a Nepali passport.

Jagga, meanwhile, came in contact with members of the Arsh Dalla gang who had sheltered one Sukhpret of Punjab’s Moga involved in the grenade attack in the November 2022 Pathankot attack.

Delhi Police sources said that Canada-based Arsh Dalla had offered Rs 1 crore to Jagga to kill Amit Arora, a Shiv-Sena leader in Punjab. The attack was planned around Republic Day and for this Jagga had conducted a recce in December last year. Jagga was also contracted to target Gursimran Singh Mand of the Congress party, who is also the president of the International Anti-Khalistan Front for which he was offered Rs 1.5 crore, according to Delhi Police.

Further, according to sources, both Jagga and Naushad had received money as advance payment through hawala operators and asked to prove their trustworthiness. The duo then killed a boy in December last year and chopped his body into parts using a machete and sent the video to their handlers in Pakistan.

During his interrogation, Jagga revealed that he was in contact with his Khalistani handler in Germany and a member of the Bambiha gang, currently operating from Saudi Arabia.

In the latest development, the Delhi Police got information about the involvement of eight persons in the module. The police suspect the possible presence of four others in India presently.

“Their handlers sitting at the border sent instructions on the Signal app, after which they shared the location of the bag full of weapons through Google Maps. About eight people are involved in this module of terrorists out of which four can still be present in India only. Two terrorists were used to provide weapons and two were used to send the Google location of the weapons to their bosses by keeping the weapons at a particular location,” a source said.
