Sadanand Dhume and Omar Abdullah like a disparaging tweet to Republic TV from Pakistani lawyer who had earlier glorified terrorists attacking India

For some individuals, the momentous occasion of Narendra Modi ascension to the Prime Ministerial post severely and irredeemably impaired their understanding of patriotism and loyalty towards one’s nation. The hatred harboured by these individuals for PM Modi only intensified as the time went by. The animosity reached such epic proportions that hating Modi and by extension, anyone who espoused his ideology, became more important than standing by national interest.

Besides the Modi government, the Republic TV and its Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami, who has unabashedly stood on the side of national interest, have been the latest object of their ire for vigorously promoting nationalism and unsparingly calling out those who incite anarchy and pander to the anti-national forces.

Recently, two of such individuals who are still smarting PM Modi’s reelection in 2019 and Arnab Goswami’s growing prominence in the Indian media landscape, WSJ journalist Sadanand Dhume and former Chief Minister of erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, ‘liked’ a disparaging tweet by a Pakistani barrister to Republic TV after the latter invited him on its show to debate on “Rift between India and Pakistan on the Spy issue as Two Pakistani officials from the embassy in Delhi expelled by India over spying”.

The Pakistani lawyer, Asad Rahim Khan, turned down the invitation offered by Republic TV and wished evil upon them to maintain peace between the two countries. “Thank you for your invitation. If I wanted to hear a fascist lunatic scream for war for an hour, I would listen to Joseph Goebbels’ old speeches. For the sake of peace between our countries, may your channel die a quick death,” Khan responded in an email to Republic TV.

Both, the invitation by the Republic TV and his scathing riposte was shared by Khan on his official Twitter account. The tweet was liked by WSJ journalist Dhume and politician Omar Abdullah, both of whom have a predilection for Pakistanis, along with many other Indians who held fervid ill-feeling for PM Modi and Arnab Goswami.

Asad Rahim Khan’s tweet (image courtesy: KnowTheNation)

For starters, it is profoundly ironical that a Pakistani is preaching sanctimonious sermons about peace between India and Pakistan to an Indian news channel, on a day when two Pakistani diplomats were caught red-handed indulging in espionage activities against India. Any reputable man from any other reputable country would have felt a modicum of embarrassment even responding to a news channel of a country against whom his fellow countrymen were caught spying, but Asad Rahim Khan, being a Pakistani, whose figurehead Prime Minister continues to whip up an anti-India frenzy on social media websites periodically, used the opportunity to seek grandstanding by laying claims to lofty ideals of envisioning peace between the two countries.

Secondly, Asad Rahim Khan is no proponent of peace and good-will as he would have us believe. Khan has glorified terrorism in Kashmir on more occasion than one. He had recently attempted to humanise the Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Riyaz Naikoo by characterising him as a ‘resister’, thereby lending legitimacy to the terror activities and violence he was involved in. Besides, Khan also described the Modi regime as ‘Fourth Reich’— a futuristic Nazi regime that had employed coronavirus to brutalise Kashmiris.

“Just as the Nazis exploited typhus, the Fourth Reich uses corona to brutalise Kashmiris, ravage healthcare and execute resisters like #RiyazNaikoo. The UN’s unprecedented OHCHR report seeks a Commission, its highest-level probe for global crises,” Khan tweeted in a post uploaded on May 7, 2020.

It appears that Khan was just recently stuck with the epiphany of having peace between India and Pakistan. Until May 7, 2020, Khan believed in ratcheting up the rhetoric against India and accusing it to be a modern-day Nazi regime that was bent on using coronavirus as a tool of repression against Kashmiris. It is pertinent to note that Khan Asad Khan drew on Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s allegations of fascism against India, notwithstanding Pakistan’s troubled history of having witnessed far more years of dictator rule than the rule of democracy.

In another tweet from 2019, Asad could not stop his inner Islamist from coming out in open. The day when the Supreme Court of India ended the protracted wrangling over the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and handed over the vexed land to Hindus for building a magnificent Ram Temple, Asad posted a tweet criticising PM Modi, India and the Indian judiciary that he claimed upheld ‘Kar sevak militancy’.

“A PM that compares anti-Muslim massacres to killing puppies, a parliament that passes bills to cleanse Kashmir, and now a judiciary that upholds kar sevak militancy…Each branch of the Indian state is a tribute to Hindutva, and a vindication of Jinnah,” the tweet by Asad read.

Khan’s tweet (image courtesy: @knowthenation on Twitter)

However, the hostility for PM Modi among scores of Indians such as Sadanand Dhume and Omar Abdullah is so deep-rooted that they have no qualms in disregarding the contemptuous and outrageous allegations made by Pakistanis against India. On the contrary, Dhume and Abdullah appeared to have revelled the denigratory remarks the Islamist Asad Khan made against the Indian News Channel. It didn’t matter to them that by expressing their approval with Asad’s response to the Republic TV, they were also supporting the Pakistani’s lawyer’s glorification of terrorists who are perpetually at war with India and threaten to disrupt the peace and sovereignty of the nation. Their hatred for PM Modi has blinded their responsibility towards the nation and caused them to take leave of their senses. It is time that they gain some semblance of sanity, and determine which side of the border do they truly belong!

Advocate sends a legal notice against media outlet ‘Dabang Dunia’ for claiming Kunti committed adultery and hurting religious sentiments

Media outlet ‘Dabang Dunia News Service’ has been served with a legal notice for a news article in which it claimed that Kunti from Hindu epic of Mahabharata had involved in an illegitimate affair which caused the birth of her 3 sons with Pandu.

The legal notice was issued by advocate Ashutosh Dubey alleging that the media outlet had grievously hurt the sentiments of Hindus by accusing the Hindu epic character- Kunti of committing adultery. Kunti was the mother of three of the five Pandavas, Yudhishthir, Bhim and Arjun, and Lord Krishna was her nephew. Dubey, in his notice, has alleged that the media outlet has portrayed Kunti in a bad light and accused them of spreading unrealistic and fake news.

Citing Mahabharata, Dainik Dabang Duniya had claimed in their article that one of the central character of Mahabharata—Kunti, had separate relationship before and after marriage. The article goes on to claim that she established a love affair with men to give birth to Yudhisthira, Bhima and Arjuna. It also adds that Nakul and Sahadeva were born when Pandu’s second wife-Madri, had established relationship with a separate man to give birth to them.

News article on Kunti by Dabangduniya News Service

“By spreading such misinformation you are insulting the Mahabharata where nowhere such things are mentioned in the epic,” the legal notice reads.

The legal notice then goes on to mention the actual incident when Durvasha Rishi endowed Kunti with a divine mantra that had the power of bestowing Kunti with sons. According to the epic, whichever Gods Kunti desires to have a child with, she had to simply invoke God and recite the mantra. Kunti invoked Yamaraj, Vayu and Indra to give birth to Yudhisthira, Bhima and Arjuna. Kunti had invoked Sun God before marriage to check the potency of mantra and she had received Karna as her son from Sun God. Kunti taught the mantra to Madri and after its usage, Madri was awarded with two sons-Nakula and Sahadeva.

“By describing Kunti as someone who had had illicit relationships in her life, you have not only insulted Mahabharata but you have hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus living in India,” the legal notice says.

Advocate Dubey has alleged that the news agency-Dainik Dabang News had committed crime under Sector 298, 295 and 295A of the Indian Penal Code for “deliberate and malicious act via newspaper about Kunti with the intention of outraging the religious feelings of Hindus. The notice further asserts that Dainik Dabang News is further liable for misleading news which gets amplified when picked up by gratuitous sections of mass media.

Besides, the advocate has also called for registering an offence against the news organisation under Section 501(b) of the Indian Penal Code for spreading false and mischievous content that results in ‘fear and alarm to public’.

‘The failure to act upon this legal notice within the stipulated time period will attract legal action under various sections of the Indian Penal Code 1860,” the petition says.

Union govt unveils three schemes worth Rs 50,000 crore to make India self-reliant in electronics manufacturing

To give a fillip to the electronics manufacturing sector in the country, the Modi government on Tuesday urged the firms to apply for schemes to promote electronic manufacturing in India to help them become global champions.

The Ministry of Electronics & IT government had announced three schemes in April – Production linked Incentive (PLI), component manufacturing schemes (SPECS) and cluster schemes (EMC 2.0) in an aim to increase electronics manufacturing rapidly by 2025 and create additional 1.5-2 million new jobs in the short term.

Reiterating the same, the Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad released detailed guidelines about the three new initiatives of the government and asked companies to start applying for the schemes to avail the benefit.

The total value announced today stands at Rs 50,000 crore with the goal of increasing production to $106 billion from $70 billion in 2018-19. The target for exports of electronic components is $77 billion.

The Union Minister also said the government will pick up “five global champions” who will be permitted to participate under the PLI scheme. Five Indian companies will also be added in the scheme.

Three schemes to boost electronics manufacturing in the country

Under the Production linked Incentive scheme, the government will provide an incentive of 4-6 per cent on incremental sales of goods manufactured in the country up to 2025. The PLI scheme takes the largest portion of the benefits, standing at approximately Rs 40,000 crore and is expected to help large scale manufacturing of mobile and other gadgets.

The second scheme – Scheme for Promotion of Manufacturing of Components and Semiconductors (SPECS), is aimed at promoting component manufacturing in India. The scheme intends to reduce imports of electronic components, which the industry currently undertakes to assemble products here. The government will provide a financial incentive of 25% on capital expenditure for a list of electronic goods, which include electronic components, semiconductor/ display fabrication units, Assembly, Test, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) units, specialized sub-assemblies and capital goods for manufacture of these products.

The scheme will remain open for three years for investors to apply and for five years for investments. The outlay for the scheme amounts to Rs 3,285 crore.

Lastly, the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster Scheme (EMC 2.0) project will provide land for large manufacturing clusters, and other infrastructure requirements. The scheme is a modified version of the earlier EMC scheme. The EMC 2.0 shall provide support for the creation of world-class infrastructure along with common facilities and amenities, including Ready Built Factory (RBF) sheds / Plug and Play facilities for attracting major global electronics manufacturers, along with their supply chains, the ministry statement says.

Focus on mobile manufacturing in India

The Union Minister Prasad also added that electronics manufacturing in the country was valued at Rs 1,90,366 crore in 2014, which has seen a rise to Rs 4,58,000 crore today, while its share in global manufacturing has risen to 3% in 2018 from 1.3% in 2012. The minister also added that th exports grew by 38% year-on-year between 2018 and 2019.

“India is now a second-biggest mobile manufacturing country in the world. From just 2 factories, we now have 200 manufacturing units,” added Prasad, the Union minister for electronics and IT.

The Modi government wants India to be a mobile manufacturing hub and intends to make the country to become the largest exported item from India and domestic value addition of 35-40% to mobile manufacturing by 2025.

The new scheme announced by the Modi government is meant to help mobile manufacturing in a big way. However, the government also want to boost other sectors like automobile electronics, medical electronics, strategic electronics like defence, which will have a bearing from the development of electronics manufacturing in the country.

On Delhi govt’s recommendation, Delhi LG Anil Baijal grants early release to Jessica Lal murderer Manu Sharma

Manu Sharma, who was convicted for the murder of model Jessica Lal in 1999, has been granted release by Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal. Baijal granted early release on recommendation of Delhi state home minister Satyendra Jain.

Sharma is the son of former Congress leader Venod Sharma. News agency ANI reported that a seven-member Sentence Review Board (SRB) had a meeting last month to decide on the release of 34 convicts who are eligible for early release. The list included the name of Sharma as well.

As per the law, any convict excluding one found guilty of heinous crimes such as rape and murder, murder and robbery, murder in cases of terrorism and murder while out on parole, who has completed 14 years in prison, is eligible for an early release. SRB recommended in their report sent to Baijal that Manu Sharma is eligible for such release.

Amit Sahni, Sharma’s lawyer, filed a petition in Delhi High Court and asked for his release in November 2019. He said that Sharma had spent 23 years in Jail, including remission. He has a record of good conduct in prison, but SRB denied his release four times. The lawyer added that it is unfair and unlawful behaviour. The court asked SRB to consider his case for release in the next meeting on 11th May.

Delhi State home minister, who is the chairman of the board along with director-general of prison, home secretary of state, law secretary of state, a district judge, and chief probationary officer of the government along with a joint commissioner rank officer of Delhi Police were part of the Sentence Review Board.

Jessica Lal murder case

43-year-old Siddharth Vashishta, known by his alias Manu Sharma shot dead model Jessica Lal on 30th April 1999 for refusing a drink at a party. She was tending an unlicensed bar at a private party and refused to serve Sharma a drink past midnight, after which Sharma shot her dead. Haryana politician Venod Sharma is his father and has an influential political background.

In February 2006, Sharma was acquitted by a city court, which had triggered protests all over the country. Delhi high court took up the case and reversed the order. They mentioned in the judgment that the lower court ignored or misread material evidence. Sharma was sentenced to life imprisonment in December 2006. The judgment was challenged in the Supreme Court, but the court upheld the conviction in 2010.

When Sabrina Lal, sister of Jessica, was approached last month after the board’s decision, she said that she had forgiven Sharma. According to the prison officials, Sharma’s work inside the prison supported his case in front of the SRB. He runs a non-government organization by the name Siddhartha Vashishta Charitable Trust that helps in funding the education of children of prison inmates. The NGO started working in Tihar around eight years ago.

Pakistan: 13-year-old Hindu girl kidnapped and raped by armed men in Sindh province

In yet another deplorable act a 13-year-old Hindu girl has been brutally raped by six armed men in Pirbux Jarwar village falling under the jurisdiction of Dilber Khan police station in Mirpurkhas, Sindh province of Pakistan.

As reported by Pakistani Human Rights activist Rahat Austin on Twitter, six armed men entered the 13-year-old Hindu girl Permi Bheel’s house, beat up her family and took her away. The Hindu girl was brutally raped the entire night on gunpoint by these 6 men while her family kept searching for her, crying for help.

Brutalities against minorities in Pakistan

The brutalities against minorities continue unabated in the terrorist state of Pakistan as multiple instances of atrocities, especially against Hindus and Sikhs have been reported recently.

In October 2019, a young Hindu girl had been allegedly abducted and converted to Islam. The Hindu victim was later forcibly married by the abductor.

This horrific news came just a month after the killing of Namrita Chandani, who was found dead in her hostel room in September last year. She was found lying on a cot with a rope tied around her neck while her room was locked from inside. The college administration tried to pass it as suicide. However, her final autopsy report had revealed that she was murdered after being raped in her hostel room in September 2019.

Prior to this, following an allegation of blasphemy against a Hindu school principal, Hindu temples, shops and homes of minority Hindus were ransacked by Muslim rioters. However, later it was revealed that the attack on Hindus was a pre-planned event to cover-up a child abduction incident. The school principal had thwarted the Islamists’ efforts by giving refuge to one of the Hindu girls, who was abducted by associates of radical Islamist leader Mian Mithoo.

Pakistan is notoriously known for its persecution of not only religious minorities but also ethnic minorities within their own country. The forceful conversion programmes have often been unleashed against the minorities especially Christians, Sikhs and Hindus living in Pakistan with utmost brutality.

Earlier, Jagjit Kaur, a Sikh girl was abducted and forcibly converted to Islam in Nankana Sahib which had caused a huge uproar. In another horrific incident, a 13-year-old Pooja Sotahar Kumari, daughter of Fatan Rathore, resident of village Bakhsho Laghari in Hyderabad district’s Hosri Taluka, was kidnapped, forcefully converted and subsequently married off to a man identified as Syed Irshad Shah.

OpIndia reports cited in fact-finding report on the Delhi anti-CAA riots submitted to Home Minister Amit Shah. Read details

A report on the Delhi anti-CAA riots (Delhi anti-Hindu riot) submitted by NGO Call for Justice has blamed radical groups such as Pinjra Tod and Jamia Coordination Committee and organisations such as PFI for the communal violence that claimed the lives of 53 individuals. The report was submitted to Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday.

A leading forensic pathologist, who has previously assisted the CBI in the Gujarat Riots case and the Ishrat Jahaan encounter case, and a public prosecutor for the NIA were part of the six-member group. Other members included retired civil service officials and high court judges. OpIndia happens to be the most cited website in the said report. OpIndia has been cited 10 times in the 70-page report.

The report says, “Various radical groups such as Pinjra Tod, Jamia Coordination Committee, Alumni Association of Jamia Milia Islamia, Popular Front of India (PFI), etc., and the local politicians from AAP, suddenly, after election in Delhi, accelerated misinformation, hate speech campaigns using Anti-CAA as a basis.”

“Further, in order to augment the hate speech narrative and map it with emotions, fear and religion, these radical groups managed to get the narratives delivered from the Mosques in daily meetings through Imams and also through the Azaan, broadcasted from loudspeakers in these localities multiple times daily,” it adds.

The report further stated, “The objective of the attack was to create a permanent atmosphere of hostility between the Hindus and Muslims and since the entire CAA episode was painted as an Anti Muslim campaign, these radical groups had no choice but to exploit the Muslim community for their ulterior objective of dividing the country on communal lines.”

It added, “The Hindu community was totally unaware about the attacks while the attackers belonging to the Muslim community meticulously planned. The testimonies of a few of the witnesses/ victims reveal that on 24/02/2020, Muslims school were closed and even the parents of Muslims children withdrew their wards from Hindu schools at around 10:00 a.m., prior to the attacks.”

The report recommends that an investigation be launched into Islamic outfits who were behind the riots and trial of the riot cases be expedited in the designated courts. It also implores the government for effective monitoring of social media so that misinformation can be countered in real time. It recommends that fake news websites which circulated hate speech and misinformation campaigns ought to be prosecuted. The report seeks an NIA investigation into the matter citing the involvement of PFI and ISI and other interstate and international groups.

The NGO Call for Justice was established “To promote by all appropriate means within its purview the social, economic, and cultural development and uplift the socially, economically and educationally weak, disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society.” It also works to create awareness in the areas of law, health, education and human rights among others.

Bihar government distributes free condoms to migrant workers returning home after quarantine

The Bihar Health Department has been distributing contraceptives, condoms among migrant workers who are going to their homes after completing 14-day institutional quarantine and those under home quarantines, a health official confirmed on Tuesday.

Health coordinators are distributing two packets of condoms at quarantine centres, while ASHA workers have been handing them out during door-to-door screening of people under home quarantine.

An official of Care India said the NGO is providing technical support to the Bihar health department in this initiative.

Until now, 28 to 29 lakh migrant workers have returned to the state, out of which, 8.77 lakh people have been discharged as they have completed their 14 day quarantine period.

“Migrant labourers are going to their homes after completing the 14-day institutional quarantine. Since there are chances of unwanted pregnancies, we properly counsel them and give them tools (such as condoms) to avoid unwanted pregnancy,” a senior Health department official told PTI.

“As a health professional, it is our responsibility to control the population. We have been taking the support of our health partner Care India to implement the initiative.”

The official said that there has been a sudden surge in the cases of unwanted pregnancies, throughout the world, during the lockdown and it was against this backdrop that the initiative was launched. The initiative will continue till the quarantine centres are functioning, the health official added.

Bihar government closes migrants workers’ registration or quarantine

The Bihar government has, however, announced, that from today, June 2 (Tuesday), migrant workers returning to Bihar will not be registered for placing the into institutional quarantine. Those who returned to the state till Monday had been registered and quarantined in more than 5,000 centres, which together host around 13 lakh migrants. These centres will be closed after June 15, when the 14-day quarantine of the last batch of registered migrants ends.

“We have carried out the biggest-ever evacuation exercise by bringing back over 30 lakh migrants. We are closing registration on Monday evening. In any case, maximum people have returned,” said Pratyaya Amrit, principal secretary at Bihar’s Disaster Management Authority. Amrit said door-to-door health monitoring would continue, and that medical facilities would remain the same from primary health centres to Level I and Level II hospitals.

South Korea reports spike in Coronavirus cases after a cluster of cases linked to church emerge in Seoul

South Korea is hit by another string of coronavirus infections that were found emerging from 13 churches situated in and around Seoul. The country announced a major spike in the number of cases on Monday.

As per reports, the Korea Centre for Disease Control and Prevention reported 35 cases on Monday taking the toll to 11,503 in the country. The origin of infection of 23 cases out of 35 was linked to 11 churches in Incheon and two churches in Gyeonggi province.

It further added, “Contact management and investigation on the source of infection is underway.” The capital Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon provinces are the home the half of the South Korean population.

As per reports, another cluster found infected was linked to the Church’s pastor’s group in Gunpo and Anyang area of Gyeonggi province. KCDC mentioned, “It is presumed that transmission occurred through a gathering Jeju Island from May 25 to May 27, (which) 25 members from 12 churches participated. The investigation is underway for contacts of each church of the ministers.”

In the month of May, there was a surge of 74 cases in South Korea that was related to various groups in the church. The agency added, “In light of the recent ongoing spread of COVID-19 through bible studies, weekday meetings, and other religious gatherings, KCDC urged faith communities to refrain from gathering and switch to non-face-to-face meetings.”

A senior health official, Sohn Young-rae told Yonhap News agency, “Large-scale infections are feared to come in the Seoul metropolitan area, but we can succeed in containing the virus spread when citizens raise their guards against the pandemic to break the chain of virus transmissions.”
