Paris beheading case: Video that encouraged radical Islamist to kill a teacher for displaying cartoon of Prophet Mohammed in his class surfaces

Days after a 47-year-old history teacher named Samuel Paty was beheaded by a radical Islamist in Paris, the video that motivated the terrorist to execute the gruesome attack has now come to light.

Paty was killed on October 16 by 18-year-old radical Islamist named Abdoullakh Abouyezidovitch A in the Paris suburb of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine for showcasing cartoons of Prophet Mohammed to his students at College du Bois d’Aulne. The terrorist had also uploaded the gory pictures of the murder on Twitter, before being shot dead by the French police.

In the video shared on Facebook, Brahim Chnina, an Islamic preacher and father of a girl in Paty’s class, can be seen standing outside the College du Bois d’Aulne and giving a call to fellow Muslims to mobilise against the teacher. Referring to Samuel Paty as a ‘thug’, the man claimed that the actions of the teacher (to show ‘blasphemous’ cartoons to students) was in response to a ‘direct’ call by French French Emmanuel Macron to hate, combat and stigmatise Muslims.

Details of the contentious video

He complained that the school authorities did not let him in and that the principal was in a meeting for 45 minutes, leaving him stranded in cold. Brahim then talked to his 13-year-old daughter who claimed that Samuel Paty asked all Muslim students to raise their hands during the history class on Islam. “We raised our hands, and he said: I am going to show you a picture that might shock you. So, if you want, you can leave the room,” she claimed.

The girl nevertheless insisted to remain in the room, She alleged, “It was a picture of Prophet Mohammed without his clothes on. We were all shocked, even those who weren’t Muslims were also shocked… Since I expressed (my displeasure), he excluded me from classes for 2 days. He doesn’t like us (Muslims)… He wants to humiliate us in front of the others.” The girl further claimed that she did not want to go to class if ‘such’ things are shown in school.

Online campaign wanted to stop the ‘thug’ teacher

Brahim Chnina inquired, “What was the message that he wanted to give to those children? Why a teacher is behaving like this in front of 13 year old children?” Calling upon fellow Muslims to mobilise against the teacher, he warned, “In my opinion, he (Samuel Paty) had been doing this for several years… The thug cannot stay in the national education system, he cannot continue educating children.” The man then shared his number and asked all those who ‘disagree’ with the teacher’s actions to message him.

Brahim Chnina was also joined, in his online campaign to get Paty fired, by a Muslim cleric, Imam Abdelhakim Sefrioui. The cleric informed that they had met the administration on behalf of the Council of French Imams. He claimed that the school administration was not shocked about Samuel Paty’s actions, except for the female school principal. The cleric alleged that such things have been happening in France for the past 5-6 years where minor children are exposed to such blasphemous content. He said that the school found ‘no problem’ with the way Samuel Paty taught in class.

The cleric along with Brahim demanded the resignation of the ‘thug’ for undermining the ‘psychological integrity’ of children. He recounted, “At the end of conversation, we understood that nothing us going to happen with this institution… Indeed we left from there with a strong resolve to mobilise for an action before this institution and the Academic Inspector…. If we ever accept this, tomorrow we might get to what happened in Srebrenica, what happened in Yugoslavia.” Sefrioui also asked all parents to remain vigilant, in anticipation of future such instances.

France clampdowns on mosque which incited Muslims against Samuel Paty

It was earlier reported that a local mosque (La Grande Mosquée de Pantin) was a part of a vicious online campaign to get Samuel Paty fired from his job. Although the mosque did not give away personal details of the deceased teacher, it was allegedly a part of the mobilisation campaign that eventually lead to the gruesome crime.

The mosque had urged its 1500 worshippers to share the video of the father of one 13-year-old Muslim girl, wherein he had called for action against Samuel Paty. Following the barbarian act, the mosque pulled down the video and express ‘regret’ for sharing it. However, the French government is in no mood to let them off the hook.

On Tuesday, the government announced that the mosque will be shut down for 6 months, starting from Wednesday night. Earlier, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin had directed the closure of the mosque and warned, “not a minute’s respite for enemies of the Republic…”

Victim to be awarded highest order of merit

On Tuesday morning, French Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer announced during an interview with BFM TV that the deceased teacher would be bestowed with the honour. At the same time, a national ceremony will be held on Wednesday in Samuel Paty’s honour at Sorbonne University in Paris.

India returns captured Chinese soldier to PLA, disengagement talks to continue: Reports

0

Two days after the Indian army apprehended one People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldier, following his infiltration into the Indian side of Line of Actual Control (LAC), the army had released the Chinese soldier on Wednesday morning. The soldier, identified as Corporal Wang Ya Long, was nabbed from the Demchok sector of Eastern Ladakh on Monday.

As per reports, the soldier was handed over to China at the Chushul Moldo meeting point. The development was also confirmed by Chinese State media Global Times Editor Hu Xijin. He informed, “The Indian side handed back the Chinese soldier who got lost in the border area to the Chinese side early Wednesday morning.” Hu Xijin, who usually keeps threatening and warning India of a potential Chinese attack, further claimed that India’s gesture comes as an ‘optimistic message’ amidst the ongoing border conflict between the two nations. “It is hoped the cooperation can grow into more mutual trust between the two,” he emphasised.

PLA inquires about missing soldier, disengagement talks underway

Earlier, the PLA had issued a statement on October 18 that they were looking for their missing soldier. Spokesperson of the Western Theatre Command, Colonel Zhang Shuili, stated, “After the incident, Chinese border guards took the initiative to report the situation to the Indian side as soon as possible, and hoped that the Indian side would assist in search and rescue.”

Meanwhile, India has demanded complete disengagement at LAC and restoration of status quo, as prior to the border standoff. China has agreed to bilateral dialogue to de-escalate the situation in the Eastern Ladakh region. Both countries are likely to hold the 8 round of military talks this week.

Indian army confirms capture of the Chinese soldier

Earlier, in its official statement, the Indian army has stated that the Chinese soldier, identified as one Corporal Wang Ya Long, was nabbed from the Demchok sector of Eastern Ladakh on Monday, following his misadventure into the Indian territory along the LAC. “The PLA soldier has been provided medical assistance including oxygen, food and warm clothes to protect him from the vagaries of extreme altitude and harsh climatic conditions,” the statement emphasised.

The Indian Army informed that they had received correspondence from the Chinese side about the ‘whereabouts of its missing soldier’. The army stated that the PLA personnel will be handed over to the Chinese officials at Chushul-Moldo meeting point, following the completion of formalities.

Remember Sheena Bora case? Param Bir Singh was the IG of Konkan range, the site where her body was dumped

One of the most shocking murder mysteries of recent times has been the Sheena Bora case. Four years after Sheena Bora mysteriously ‘disappeared’, Indrani Mukerjea, her mother who made everyone believe she was her sister, was arrested for her murder.

On 24 April 2012, Sheena took leave of absence from Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd, the company that runs Mumbai Metro through an e-mail. Indrani is former CEO of INX Media. Soon after her ‘leave of absence’, she ‘resigned’ via email. She was in relationship with Rahul Mukerjea, son of Indrani Mukerjea’s husband, Peter Mukerjea. Indrani, who was her mother in reality but told everyone she was Sheena’s sister, did not approve of the relationship. Peter is former CEO of STAR India.

Sheena was never seen by anyone after 24th April. She was believed to have been killed same night itself. Indrani had reportedly teamed up with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna killed her. Prior to her murder, Indrani had reportedly carried out recce of location site where the body would be dumped. After killing Sheena, Indrani reportedly the body to their home in Worli where it was stuffed inside a suitcase. Next day, Sheena’s body was taken out, propped up as passenger and taken to Raigad near Mumbai.

There, she was again stuffed into a bag. The bag was then set on fire.

On May 23, 2012, villagers of Pen Tehsil, Raigad complained of foul odour and found a body. There was no identification mark and no one linked it to Sheena Bora.

Three years later, when Indrani’s driver, Shyamvar Rai, was arrested in some other case, the details of Sheena Bora murder case emerged. Rai has since then turned approver.

Param Bir Singh knew Sheena Bora was missing

As per reports, when Sheena went ‘missing’ on 24th April 2012, Rahul Mukerjea, her boyfriend and Indrani’s stepson, had reached out to Param Bir Singh. Singh was then Inspector General of Police and he had reportedly asked Rahul to file a missing person report. Interestingly, a missing person report was never filed for Sheena.

Param Bir Singh was also the Inspector General of the Konkan Range when Sheena’s body was dumped in Raigad.

During 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Param Bir Singh refused to go on ground to tackle terrorists

Former Mumbai Commissioner of Police Hasan Gafoor had accused senior police officials, including Param Bir Singh of not taking on the terrorists. To Gafoor’s remarks, Param Bir Singh had threatened legal action for ‘defaming’ him. Singh had defended himself and claimed that he was seen on several television channels when he was at Hotel Taj and Oberoi. The television channels were live telecasting the siege which had eventually helped the terrorists, as per reports.

Ex Mumbai Police Commissioner Julio Ribeiro called Singh a ‘Bad cop’

In July 2018, Ribeiro had written an article on the two cops fighting for the post of the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Without naming Param Bir Singh, Ribeiro had drawn up a ‘good cop-bad cop’ analogy, where Singh was believed to be the ‘bad cop’. Taking an offence to the same, Singh had sought an apology from Ribeiro and had even threatened to sue him.

Sadhvi Pragya alleged Param Bir Singh tortured her in custody for ‘Hindu terror bogey’

One of the most controversial tenures of Param Bir Singh was during his days at the ATS. Param Bir Singh, who was the Additional Commissioner of Police (ATS), was accused of severe torture by current Bhopal MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh.

Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur had alleged that she was subjected to extreme torture by the Mumbai ATS to make her forcefully confess to her role in the alleged ‘saffron terror case’. Making serious allegations against then members of the Mumbai ATS, Sadhvi Pragya had disclosed that ATS officers including Param Bir Singh had kept her in illegal detention and tortured her for 13 days.

Param Bir Singh gave clean chit to Ajit Pawar in irrigation scam

Param Bir Singh, IPS officer of the 1988-batch, was appointed as the Mumbai police commissioner in February this year. Singh, prior to his appointment as the Mumbai Police, he was the Director-General (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

Param Bir Singh’s tenure at the Maharashtra ACB was also controversial. In December last year, the ACB under Singh had given a clean chit to then Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar in the irrigation scam. Ajit Pawar was accused in a scam involving 12 Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) projects.

Maharashtra government to pay Rs 10 lakhs per hearing to Kapil Sibal in the case against Arnab Goswami

The Maharashtra government has decided to pay Rs 10 lakhs per hearing to senior advocate Kapil Sibal and Rs 1.5 lakhs per hearing to state government lawyer Rahul Chitnis for effectively representing the state government in connection with a criminal writ petition filed by Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami.

The Home department of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra has passed an order approving funds for the payment of fees to senior advocate at Supreme Court and Congress leader Kapil Sibal and Maharashtra Government lawyer Rahul Chitnis.

The order states that Kapil Sibal is to be paid Rs 10 lakh per appearance and pre-hearing discussion. The Maharashtra Government lawyer Rahul Chitnis is to be paid Rs 1.5 lakh per appearance and pre-hearing discussion.

Arnab Goswami had filed a criminal writ petition against Maharashtra government earlier this year after several FIRs were filed against him following the broadcast of the prime time show on his channel where he questioned the silence of Sonia Gandhi over the horrifying lynching of two Hindu sadhus in Palghar and called her by her maiden name “Antonio Maino”.

Arnab Goswami at loggerheads with the Maharashtra Government

Arnab Goswami and the Maha Vikas Aghadi government are at loggerheads since the prime time show aired on Republic Bharat over the lynching of Hindu sadhus in Palghar. Several FIRs were filed against the news anchor and he was called to the police station in Mumbai where he was grilled for more than 11 hours. A case was also filed against him and his channel Republic TV for broadcast on April 14 and 15 regarding the Bandra migrants incident.

Arnab had also alleged that one of his reporters and the camera person was unlawfully detained by the Maharashtra government when they were on a trail of an investigative story in Navi Mumbai. Another Republic TV journalist Pradeep Bhandari was recently encircled physically by the Mumbai Police and was detained illegally. It was alleged that Pradeep was assaulted as well and was not provided with access to lawyers.

A few days back, Republic TV was also targeted in a TRP manipulation case when the Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh convened a press conference and insinuated that Republic TV paid bribes to manipulate its TRP. However, hours later it was revealed that the complaint filed in the TRP manipulation case included India Today’s name and not Republic TV.

CBI takes over probe, FIR lodged in TRP fraud case based on complaint filed in Uttar Pradesh: Read details

0

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday took over the probe into alleged manipulation of Television Rating Points (TRP) after registering an FIR in the case. The central agency took over the probe from Lucknow police on the recommendation of Uttar Pradesh government.

A case was registered in Lucknow’s Hazratganj police station on the complaint of a person named Kamal Sharma, the CIO of Golden Rabbit company, which was transferred to the CBI. The FIR has been registered against unidentified people.

The FIR has been registered under IPC sections 120(B) (Punishment of criminal conspiracy), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust), 408 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust by clerk), 409 (criminal breach of trust in respect of that property), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 463 (Forgery), 465 (Punishment for forgery), 486 (Selling goods marked with a counterfeit property mark). The charges include manipulating the TRPs using forged means.

opy of the FIR registered in the TRP scam case in Lucknow

The FIR said that since BARC, which commenced its operation in 2015, remains the sole provider of TRP ratings in India, it becomes imperative for the organisation to be credible and transparent. It read that if BARC functioned partially by tweaking the data pertaining to TRP as a result of a conspiracy to favour certain channels, there can be serious repurcussions as productions of programs, advertisement placings and several other decisions are taken on the basis of the BARC rating in India. It would also provide wrong, illicit financial gains to the channels in whose favour these TRP manupalations would be done.

Saying so, the complainant said that information has been revealed that certain unknown accused, including certain channels and broadcasting companies with the aid and assistance of certain unknown accused, have tempered and manipulated TRPs to gain wrongfully. Information revealed that the unknown accused have deliberately and with a common intention in furtherance of a conspiracy not only manipulated but also leaked the identity of such households. The identities of the households where BARC’s TRP meters are placed should be kept confidential.

Multiple entities have conspired to tweak the TRPs and gain wrongfully from advertisers: FIR

It furthered that such deep-rooted conspiracies cannot be the work of an individual. On the contrary, there are several unknown accused who have come together with a common intention to manipulate TRPs and have conspired with other accuused to achieve such an objective and gain wrongfully, said the FIR.

It furthered that owing to this false representations, the advertisers are deceived and tricked into advertising in these channels, paying the advertisement charges, which otherwise it would have never paid, if the true TRP ratings of these channels were revealed. It said that since the channels charge advertisement charges in proportion to the TRP ratings (which means the higher the TRP, the greater would be the charges for advertisement), the offence would tantamount to a criminal breach of trust.

It also furthered that the information of where the meters are installed is also confidential and the information regarding the same is entrusted on the person installing the same. This person is not supposed to divulge the confidential information, failing which would amount to a violation of the contract of secrecy and this would too, be equivalent to committing of the offence of criminal breach of trust.

As per reports, the UP Government had sought a CBI inquiry into the matter since it is a matter that spans across states.

It is pertinent to note here that the alleged scam came to the fore after Mumbai PC Param Bir Singh publically castigated Republic TV of being one of the accused in the scam. But, in less than 24 hours, the Mumbai police’ lies was busted and it was revealed that it was not Republic TV but India Today whose name had propped up in the first FIR registered in connection with the matter. Recently, even the Maharashtra government had admitted in the Bombay High Court that that Republic is not named in the FIR in the TRP case. Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami has declared that they will initiate defamation proceedings against Mumbai Police chief Parambir Singh, suing him for damages worth Rs 200 crores.

Pakistan in ‘civil war’ mode after Sindh Police and Army clash after police chief was kidnapped. Read details

A civil war is brewing in Pakistan after deadly clashes broke out between Sindh police and Pakistani army over the illegal detention of Sindh police chief. As per reports, Sindh province’s top cop Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar was kept hostage for four hours at the office of the sector commander of the Pakistan Rangers. He was reportedly forced to register a case against PML-N leader Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar. Safdar is former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam’s husband.

On October 19, Maryam took to Twitter to inform that her husband was arrested by police.

She said she was sleeping in the hotel room when the police barged in and arrested her husband. However, Pakistan’s Minister and PTI leader Ali Haider Zaidi had refuted the claim and appreciated ‘quick action’ against the ‘hooligans’ who ‘disrespected’ the mausoleum of Jinnah.

Reportedly, Safdar and his wife, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz had visited the Karachi to attend a rally of the opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) against Pakistan government and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

At the protest, Safdar had allegedly chanted slogans such as, “Give respect to the vote!”. Reportedly, these slogans are viewed in Pakistan as a strong criticism against Pakistan’s military, which has often ruled Pakistan directly or indirectly for the last seven decades. An FIR was registered against Safdar, Maryam and 200 others for ‘violating the sanctity’ of the grave.

Soon after the arrest, former Sindh governor Muhammad Zubair – who is also the spokesperson of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz claimed that Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) Mushtaq Mahar was coerced into arresting Safdar. He said that the Rangers kidnapped Mahar at 4 AM and took him to military office where he was forced to issue arrest orders for Safdar.

According to the reports, Pakistan Army Rangers was put on high alert in the province of Sindh on Tuesday after Sindh Police and Pakistan Army exchanged fire over the detention of Sindh cop Mahar.

A report by Pakistan-based media, The International Herald stated that the “civil war” between Sindh Police and Pakistan Army that broke out in Karachi on Tuesday, resulted in the death of at least 10 Karachi police officers.

However, media reports had suggested contrarily claiming that five officers of Pakistan Army were killed during the clashes. Interestingly, Pakistan media has not been putting the number of the deceased in the clashes.

Sindh police goes on leave ‘en masse’, later backtracks

Following the attacks on Sindh police and the ‘humiliation’ meted out to them by the Pakistan Army, senior Sindh Police officers have decided to go on leave, with the senior officers of the Sindh Police saying that the episode had left police “shocked and demoralised”.

A leave application signed by AIG Special Branch Imran Yaqoob, which has gone viral on social media, said that he wishes to proceed on leave because the police high command has been “ridiculed and mishandled”, which has now to demoralisation within the ranks of Sindh Police.

In a series of tweets, Sindh provincial police also added that the “unfortunate incident” had “caused great heartache and resentment within all ranks of Sindh Police”. Police thanked the army chief for ordering an investigation into the incident.

According to a Geo News report, at least 12-13 other police officers have submitted similar leave requests. The officers have reportedly stated that if their request for leave is not accepted, they will stop showing up to their postings.

However, hours later, Sindh Inspector-General Police Mushtaq Mahar took an u-turn from his earlier decision and said that he has deferred his own leave. He also ordered police officers to set aside their leave applications for at least ten days in the “larger national interest” till the conclusion of Captain (retd) Safdar’s arrest inquiry.

Pakistan Army chief orders immediate inquiry into ‘Karachi incident’

Following the illegal detention of Sindh police chief and the subsequent clashes on the streets of Karachi, Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa took notice of the violent incident and reportedly ordered an immediate inquiry into the “Karachi incident”.

According to ISPR, the Pakistan Army Chief has directed the Karachi Corps Commander to “immediately inquire into the circumstances to determine the facts and report back as soon as possible”.

The probe by Pakistan Army came after PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had called on General Bajwa and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Faiz Hameed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the arrest of PML-N leader retired Capt Mohammad Safdar in Karachi.

Caught on camera: NCP’s Nawab Malik ‘predicts’ Arnab will commit suicide as he will be ‘trapped’ in TRP case

In a sting operation of NCP leader and sitting Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik done by the Republic TV, the channel has revealed a deeper ‘conspiracy’ against the editor-in-chief of Republic Media, Arnab Goswami. In the sting operation, Sharad Pawar’s close aide Nawab Malik predicted that Arnab would get so frustrated with the cases against him that he will commit suicide.

It is pertinent to note here that just days back, another sting had a Congress leader reveal that the Maharashtra government, especially CM Uddhav Thackeray is upset with Republic TV and Arnab and a team with a top IAS and IPS officer has been formed to explore ways to bring the Republic TV down. The Congress leader had also revealed that NCP chief Sharad Pawar is behind all this.

When the undercover reporter who went to meet Malik asked him why the government is behind Republic TV, he said no one is targeting the channel. Malik claimed that Arnab Goswami is driving himself mad. He said, “The path he has taken, he sits inside a ‘self-imposed’ reality. He thinks that it works like this and when he gets to know that there is nothing and everything is fake then a person can do anything, right? He thinks that the whole system works the way his mind likes. That he can do anything and everything but when that does not happen the person goes to a different zone, right?”

Malik further said that what he is going through is a phobia. He said, “The world does not work on fakery. He is stuck in the TRP thing now.” When the reporter mentioned that the BARC letter does not include Republic TV’s name, he said it would be revealed in the investigation. He said, “Let me tell you clear cut, he will get trapped I am telling you clear cut.” He further added that the whole case would take a psychological toll on Arnab. He said, “The thing is that this man will have a lot of problems. I am scared that he will go into a zone himself. This is madness. It becomes a phobia. A phobia created after a point of time becomes paranoia.”

Mumbai police have targeted Republic TV where India Today was named in the FIR

On 8th October, Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh held a press conference. He revealed that Mumbai Police had unearthed a TRP scam that benefitted several channels and named Republic TV as the main accused. However, it was later revealed that Republic TV was not even named in the FIR, and India Today was one of the accused instead. For two weeks, Mumbai Police and Republic TV have locked horns over the issue. Several reports suggest that the whole case is the Maharashtra government’s vendetta against Arnab Goswami and Republic TV. The state machinery is allegedly using its power to put a brake on Arnab, who has openly criticized the government on several issues, including mismanagement in Sushant Singh Rajput’s case and the Palghar mob lynching case.

Recently, the Maharashtra government had even admitted in the Bombay High Court admitted that Republic is not named in the FIR in the TRP case. After the revelation, Arnab Goswami had decided to sue Mumbai Police chief Parambir Singh for defamation.

Another June report mentioned that one Aslam gave Coronavirus to several people after trying to heal them by kissing their hands. He died due to the infection. In May, a Maulvi named Aslam raped a woman on the pretext of solving family problems.

Reportedly, the prime accused Kail Quraishi is notorious for attacking others with sharp weapons which he used for slaughtering animals. The police said that Kail Qureshi had injured his family members several times in the past.

Arnab Goswami confronts Kamal Nath, demands apology for calling BJP’s Imarti Devi as ‘item’

Republic TV’s editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami confronted former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath over a phone call during a live debate on Tuesday for his sexist jibe at BJP leader Imarti Devi. During the program ‘The Debate’, when Arnab asked Kamal what he meant, he failed to elaborate and kept calling Goswami a BJP’s associate. Avoiding Arnab’s question on why did he refer to a woman leader by the term ‘item’, Kamal Nath kept diverting, continuously accusing Arnab of working from BJP headquarters.

Nath accused Arnab of working for BJP

Goswami’s questions on the controversy and mention of the fact that Kamal Nath has still not apologized for his blunder irked Nath. He started accusing him of operating from BJP headquarters. He also accused Goswami that he is scared as he kept on interrupting Kamal Nath. He said, “Why are you afraid to let me finish my sentence?”

Throughout the conversation, Kamal Nath seemed agitated. He even refused to acknowledge that using a derogatory term for a woman politician was inappropriate on his part.

Kamal Nath’s sexist jibe against woman leader

While addressing a rally in Dabra on 18th October for Madhya Pradesh by-elections, Nath used the word ‘item’ for BJP’s leader and MP Minister Imarti Devi. He said, “Suresh Raje is our candidate. He is a simple person. He is not like her. Why should I even take her name? You know her better than me. I should have warned you in advance. She is such an item”. Though he gave a conditional apology on Monday, he mentioned that ‘item’ is a very common word used in political circles. He also tried to accuse BJP of distracting people from the main issues.

Yesterday, Congress prince Rahul Gandhi had also stated that Kamal Nath’s behaviour was unfortunate and he should not have used such a term for an opposition politician. Kamal Nath, on the other hand, defended his act, and said that Rahul Gandhi probably failed to understand the context of the word he mentioned.
