Cases against ‘Dalit activists’ arrested during Bhima Koregaon violence will be dropped: Uddhav Thackeray assures NCP leaders

In a decision which could have serious law and order implications, the newly elected Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday has reportedly assured senior NCP leadership that criminal cases filed against the Dalit ‘activists’ in connection with the violence at Bhima-Koregaon will be withdrawn at earliest.

According to a Times of India report, the decision to withdraw cases against these ‘activists’ who had allegedly resorted to violence during the Bhima Koregaon event comes after Maharashtra CM had asked the state home department to immediately withdraw criminal cases filed against the so-called ‘activists’ booked for protesting against the cutting of trees in Aarey Colony and those opposing the Nanar refinery in the Konkan.

“Law-enforcing agencies had initiated criminal proceedings against activists for their alleged involvement in the Bhima-Koregaon violence and the Indu Mill agitation. All of them were falsely implicated, so we requested the CM to withdraw the cases immediately, and he acceded to our request,” said NCP MLA Prakash Gajbhiye, who was also present at the meeting.

Two days back, NCP MLA Jitendra Awhad had demanded the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress government to drop the charges slapped against Sudhir Dhawale, a prime accused in the Bhima Koregaon case for his involvement in the Elgar Parishad and an alleged ‘Urban Naxal’. NCP leader Dhananjay Munde had also written to Uddhav Thackeray for the same.

On the 200 anniversary of the battle of Bhima-Koregaon on January 1 last year, a large number of people had gathered at the memorial near Pune. While the crowd was dispersing, violence erupted not only in Pune and surrounding areas but across the state. A 28-year-old youth, Rahul Patangale, was killed in the violence. 52 cases were registered and 152 people were arrested for violence and riots in the streets.

The Bhima-Koregaon cases are different from the ones related to the Elgar Parishad rally held the day before the January violence. Cracking down on the Elgar Parishad’s alleged ‘Urban Naxals’ the Maharashtra police and ATS had arrested several alleged Naxal sympathisers and co-conspirators last year.

Apart from the Elgar Parishad cases, the Pune police had registered 58 cases against 152 people for the violence during the Bhima Koregaon event. Subsequently, on February 9, 2018, the state government appointed Justice JN Patel, a former judge of the Bombay high court, to probe all aspects of the violence under the Commission of Inquiry Act.

In connection with the Elgar Parishad case, ten ‘activists’, who are known to be sympathisers of left-wing terror were nabbed by the Pune police. These ‘activists’ are also accused of plotting to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Initially, the five suspected ‘Urban Naxals’ were arrested by the Pune police on 6 June 2018 over charges of organising the Elgaar Parishad held at Pune’s Shaniwarwada on 31 December 2017, which is believed to have instigated the Bhima-Koregaon violence a day later.

They are Delhi based activist Rona Wilson, advocate Surendra Gadling, professor Shoma Sen and Mahesh Raut from Nagpur and Mumbai’s Sudhir Dhawale.

The Pune police had filed a 5,000-page charge sheet, which had names of 10 persons of the above ‘Urban Naxals’. Addition to these five, absconding underground Maoists Milind Teltumbde, Prakash alias Ritupam Goswami, Prashant Bose alias Kishan da, Manglu and Deepu have also been named in the charge sheet.

Apart from these ten alleged ‘Urban Naxals’, in a nation-wide crackdown, the police had arrested P Varavara Rao in Hyderabad, Gautam Navlakha in Delhi, Vernon Gonzalves and Arun Pereira in Mumbai, Sudha Bhardwaj in Delhi, Anand Teltumbde in Goa and Stan Swamy in Ranchi in relation with Elgar Parishad violence and plot to kill the Prime Minister Modi. Gautam Navlakha is accused of having links with Maoists, Kashmiri separatists, Pakistan’s ISI and banned terror organisation Hizbul.

The withdrawal of cases by a newly elected government against the perpetrators involved in riots and vandalism is not new. As soon as Congress came to power in Madhya Pradesh in 2018, the government had withdrawn the Bharat Bandh cases filed in April 2018 against Dalits after alliance partner BSP had threatened to withdraw their support given to Kamal Nath government.

The Kamal Nath government had also decided to withdraw nearly 50,000 similar cases filed in the last 15 years by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during its tenure in Madhya Pradesh.

UP: DM appeals for peace, clarifying that junior official who organised Islamic ritual at court premises has not been punished

In Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya, video of Maulanas reciting Quran in the SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) court had gone viral on social media.

Following this, the Indian Express had reported that the junior official who had organised the ‘Quran Khawani’, recital of Quran after the dead, Laeeq Ahmad, has been suspended for having organised Quran recitation without permission. The District Magistrate Abhishek Singh, however, denied that Ahmad was suspended for organising Quran recitation. He told Indian Express that action was taken against Ahmad because of charges of irregularities.

As per reports, the SDM building was shifted after a new building was constructed. Some SDM workers had expressed their discomfort over the new building as it overlooked a Muslim graveyard. There were rumours that whoever stopped by the graveyard for few minutes, would fall ill. Hence, Ahmad, on his own, called Maulanas and organised a Quran recital in SDM premises because people there felt ‘negative energy’ as the building was near a Muslim graveyard.

Ahmad, as per reports, was facing several charges of irregularities. The District Magistrate clarified that his suspension was not due to organisation of Quran recital. Another report in Amar Ujala states that DM Abhishek Singh also met a few Muslims and appealed to them to maintain peace. He clarified to them as well that the junior official’s suspension has nothing to do with Quran recital but on charges of irregularities.

Modi government declassifies all documents related to Netaji Subhash Bose and Azad Hind Fauj

The Narendra Modi government has kept its promise and has de-classified all records relating to Netaji Bose and Azad Hind Fauj.

According to the reports, the Union government has placed all the records associated with Netaji Bose in the National Archives of India, the Minister of State (MoS) of Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel conveyed to Lok Sabha in a written reply.

Accordingly, a total of 304 declassified records and files have been transferred to the National Archives of India from the Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs for permanent retention. Out of the 304 files, 303 files are already uploaded on the Netaji web portal, www.netajipapers.gov.in, said Patel.

The National Archives of India is the custodian of declassified files and records of the Government of India. In 1997, the National Archives of India had received 990 declassified files pertaining to the Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) from the Ministry of Defence.

Reportedly, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had declassified another 1030 files pertaining to the Khosla Commission and Justice Mukherjee Commission of Inquiry in 2012. Out of these, 271 files were released from the Khosla Commission and 759 from Justice Mukherjee Commission of Inquiry.

The 58 files out of the 304 files released recently were from Prime Minister’s Office, 37 from MHA, 200 from Ministry of External Affairs, and 9 from the Cabinet Secretariat. All these files are already available to the public under the Public Records Rules, 1997, said Minister of State of Culture and Tourism, Prahlad Singh Patel in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

According to a statement released by the Police, on 30th November, a suo moto case was registered by the Police where some unknown persons had uploaded photos of the victim and made vulgar and objectionable comments on her with her Facebook profile.

These posts, which had derogatory, obscene and vulgar comments against women were then being circulated.

In wake of the brutal rape and murder case, Hyderabad Police had issued advisory to women to take precautionary measures while travelling. Amongst other suggestions, police also suggested that women should be ready to dial 100 when needed.

Filmmaker Daniel Shravan says rape victims should carry condoms and cooperate in rape to avoid their murder afterwards

Amidst the spate of gruesome rape and murder incidents being reported from across the country, filmmaker Daniel Shravan has suggested a shocking measure to tackle the growing menace of sexual assault and murder. Shravan has suggested that instead of calling for police help, women should carry condoms and save themselves from the fate of murder. He suggests that when women are assaulted by rapists, they should cooperate in the act and offer the rapist a condom, so that they are not killed afterwards.

Singer Chinmayi Sripaada has shared the appalling pictures of the posts made by Shravan on his Facebook page. In one of the posts that has now been removed, Shravan has argued that “Rape is not a serious thing but Murder is inexcusable”. Shravan then contends that the Society and Women organisations are “real culprits for engendering the evil thinking of killing the rape victims after raping them”. He argues that if the courts, government and law provide an exemption for rapes, then rapists wouldn’t think of murdering the victims.

In a repugnant attempt to rationalise rape, Shravan claims that legalising “Rapes without violence” is the only way to control the brutal killings of rape victims as the government/judicial decree will dissuade the rapists from murdering the victims. “Murder is a sin and a crime. Rape is a corrective punishment. No justice is going to happen with Nirbhaya Act or Priyanka Act. The agenda of rape is fulfilling the sexual needs of rapists based on that time or mood,” Shravan said in a Facebook post.

He adds that the agenda of rapist is fulfiling sexual needs of the rapists, based on time and mood. And if the society, court and women organisations ignore this crime, they will not be cruel by going to the next level of murdering their victims.

Furthermore, when one of the Facebook users commented on Shravan’s odious post, asking him to consult a psychiatrist for his dangerous mental condition, Shravan brazened it out saying “If these adamant bitches didn’t consent to the proposal made by the rapists, they will have no other way but to rape them”. Shravan also responded in affirmative when the Facebook user asked him if he will have the same advice for women in his family.

Later he deleted all his posts on Facebook, and posted a new message apologising for his comments. He gave an excuse for his comments, saying that he is writing those as dialogues of a villain character in a movie he is going to direct, and it was misunderstood by audience. He said that the statements are not his opinions, and apologised for hurting sentiments.

Recently, the brutal gang-rape and murder of the 27-year-old veterinary doctor Preeti Reddy(name changed) in Hyderabad galvanised the country into seeking a sustainable and long-lasting solution to deal with the rising menace of sexual assault in the country. With solutions ranging from social reengineering to legislating stricter laws are being deliberated, some twisted minds such as Daniel Shravan are of the opinion that rapists should be given a free pass and legislations criminalising rapes should be dropped.

Indian Sikh girl who went missing in Kartarpur in Pakistan traced and sent back, Akali Dal leader Manjinder Sirsa cautions visitors of honeytrap

0

The Sikh girl who went missing three days ago from Kartarpur in Pakistan has been traced and sent back to India, revealed Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manjinder S Sirsa in a video clip on Tuesday, December 3.

Sirsa had taken to Twitter to share a video message, giving details of the incident and cautioning visitors to Kartarpur in Pakistan about honeytrap.

Revealing that the girl, Manjit Kaur, “was in touch with a man from Pakistan through social media, who lured her to visit the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib via Kartarpur Corridor and meet him”, Sirsa noted that many incidents of girls being trapped this way had occurred.

With his video message on Twitter, he also wrote, “Thanking Almighty that the girl from Haryana was sent back to India otherwise her fate would have been same as other Sikh or Hindu girls in Pakistan who are forced to convert to Islam.”

“I want to caution visitors of Sri Kartarpur Sahib in Pak; pls be aware about this honeytrap”, he added.

Manjit Kaur, who belonged to Rohtak, Haryana, had gone missing after she went to visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur in Pakistan with a religious jatha. The police in Pakistan had arrested four men from Lahore and Faisalabad cities in connection with the matter.

The terrorist state of Pakistan which remains a dangerous place for minorities has witnessed numerous cases of kidnappings and forced conversions of Hindu and Sikh girls recently.

In September this year, Sirsa had released a video on Twitter through, which he confirmed that Jagjit Kaur, the Sikh girl who was allegedly kidnapped and forcefully converted to Islam, returned to her family.

The 19-year-old Kaur was forcibly converted to Islam and made to marry a Muslim man. The daughter of a ‘granthi’ (priest) at Gurudwara Tambu Sahib was allegedly converted on gunpoint. Reportedly, the Pakistan man, who forcibly converted and married Sikh girl is affiliated to 2008 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed’s proscribed terror outfit Jama’at-ud-Da’wah (JuD).

Pakistan is notoriously known for its persecution of not only religious minorities but also ethnic minorities within their own country. The forceful conversion programs have often been unleashed against the minorities especially Christians, Sikhs and Hindus living in Pakistan with utmost brutality. There have been many such cases reported in the recent past.

Recently, a report released by the Members of the European Parliament (MEP) threw light on the plight of religious minorities in Pakistan. The report claims that around 1000 girls from religious minorities are forcibly converted to Islam every year. The numbers might be higher as many cases are not even reported.

Swami Nithyananda sets up private island nation named Kailaasa near Ecuador, request UN to recognise it

0

Swami Nithyananda, who fled India on November 20 after a case was registered against him on rape and child abuse charges, owns a private sland in Ecuador in South America, and has filed a requisition to the United Nations demanding his island be recognised as a country.

’Kailaasa’ is the name given to the self-proclaimed country of Nithyananda, described as the “nation without borders created by the dispossessed Hindus from around the world who lost their right to practice Hinduism in their own countries”.

The Nation Profile reads that ‘Kailaasa’ is an abode for 100 million Adi Shaivites and about 2 billion practising Hindus. Languages recognised are English, Sanskrit and Tamil while the official religion of this fantasyland is Sanatana Hindu Dharma. A total of 56 vedic nations in South Asia, as well as a global Hindu diaspora, are the ethnic groups of the population belonging to ‘Kailaasa’.

The imaginative country also has a constitution of its own, based on Sanatan Hindu Dharma, called as Samrajya Lakshmi Pithika. In addition to this, the flag and emblem of the nation have also been already finalised.

Flag of Kailaasa

Even as permission is sought to recognise the private island as a country, the imaginary nation is already governed by a government that is aided by various departments and agencies. The agencies are:-Homeland Security, Defence, Treasury, Commerce, Housing, Education, Technology, Human service and Enlightened Civilisation.

Swami Nithyananda, who is over 40 years old, is a native of Tamil Nadu and his real name is Rajashekharan. He set up his ashram at Bidadi on Bengaluru-Mysore highway almost 20 years ago. Nithyananda, who first hit the national headlines for his alleged video in a compromising position with an actress in early 2010, has been a highly controversial figure. In June last year, a Karnataka court had framed charges against Nithyananda in a rape case. Since then the self-styled godman has been untraceable.

Bihar: Burnt body of girl recovered with bullet wound on head, police suspect rape

0

As the country continues to seethe with anger over the gruesome killing of the 27-year-old veterinary doctor in Hyderabad, a similar incident has occurred where a girl was shot dead and burnt after being allegedly raped in Kukudha village of Bihar’s Buxar district on Monday night.

According to the police, it appeared that the girl was allegedly raped before being murdered and set on fire by the assailants. The partially burnt body of the girl was recovered from a deserted farm by the residents of the Kukuda village which comes under the jurisdiction of Itadhi police station. Hundreds of people gathered at the spot but none of them could identify the girl as she was burnt above her waist.

The age and identity of the victim are yet to be ascertained. The Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar said, “The girl’s age and identity are yet to be determined. After the post-mortem report is out, we can have clarity about it.” Station officials of the Itadhi police station told that the girl was probably raped and shot dead by the culprits before being set ablaze with the intention to hide her identity. The girl has been shot in her head and an empty cartridge was retrieved from the spot.

The police have sent the body for postmortem at the Buxar Sadar hospital. Dr RK Gupta, who was involved in the post-mortem team of the body, said that the circumstances are pointing towards rape, but the forensic team’s assistance is sought for absolute confirmation. The unidentified girl is said to be under 20. The police have launched an investigation in the case to identify the girl as well as the perpetrators who committed the crime. The FSL team, as well as Dog squad, have been summoned to expedite the probe.

The case bears a stark resemblance to the Hyderabad gang-rape and murder case that shook the conscience of the nation. A few days back, a 27-year-old veterinary doctor Preeti Reddy(name changed) was brutally gang-raped and murdered by the assailants in Hyderabad. Preeti’s killers had then set her body ablaze near a deserted underbridge.

After years of silence, US govt finally tells Afghan allies to act against institutionalized pedophilia: Read what ‘Bacha Bazi’ is

After years of looking away and maintaining silence over the rampant pedophilia within Afghan security forces, the US State Department has issued a statement over recent revelations made over the Afghan custom of ‘Bacha Bazi’. The traditional response of the US government over such allegations has been either denial or maintaining that they have taken up the matter with the relevant Afghan authorities.

It was recently reported in the media that the Afghan government has arrested two human rights activists after they exposed a pedophile ring in the country’s schools in Logar province. It is reported that as many as 165 boys were raped in just three schools. They were raped by their teachers, local authorities and even older boys at the school. If all the six schools are taken together, then the number may be in excess of 500.

Pedophilia is extremely normalized in Afghan culture. The culture of Afghanistan is precisely what one would call ‘rape culture’. In the custom of ‘Bacha Bazi’, which is extremely common, little boys and adolescents would often be forced to dress in feminine attire and made to dance in front of the men before being raped. President Ashraf Ghani had vowed in 2015 to crack down on the practice but despite his statement, Bacha Bazi is still rampant and prosecution of pedophiles is rare.

As the arrest of the human rights activist demonstrates, there’s an extreme lack of willingness on part of the Afghan government to take any serious action on the matter. The US State Department’s response comes after the Assistant Secretary of State announced last month that the Trump administration was closely monitoring the situation.

The conduct of the Trump administration on the matter appears to be significantly different from that of its predecessor. There’s sufficient evidence that indicates that the Obama administration was perfectly aware of the ghastly practice that was rampant even in the Afghan Security forces. It was reported in 2015 by the New York Times that US Soldiers were told by their commanders to look away even as their allies raped children in front of them. There have also been speculations that Bacha Bazi even led to the murder of one US soldier.

“At night we can hear them screaming, but we’re not allowed to do anything about it,” the father of the deceased soldier, Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr., recalled his son as saying. He continued, “My son said that his officers told him to look the other way because it’s their culture.” “As far as the young boys are concerned, the Marines are allowing it to happen and so they’re guilty by association,” he stated. “They don’t know our Marines are sick to their stomachs.”

The deceased Marine’s father believes that Bacha Bazi had played a critical role in his son’s death. Lance Cpl. Gregory Buckley Jr. was killed at a checkpoint where he was stationed with a pedophile commander who had a harem of bacha bazi boys. The Marine had complained about that commander and was killed, along with two other Marines, by one of the pedophile’s boys.

The American Military has also forced soldiers to retire for refusing to look away from the pedophilia in military bases. Dan Quinn, a former Special Forces captain who beat up an American-backed Afghan militia commander for keeping a boy chained to his bed as a sex slave, told NYT in 2015, “The reason we were here is because we heard the terrible things the Taliban were doing to people, how they were taking away human rights. But we were putting people into power who would do things that were worse than the Taliban did — that was something village elders voiced to me.” Quinn’s career in the US military was ruined because he thrashed a pedophile.

In a government report released in January 2018, it was revealed that on 5,753 occasions from 2010 to 2016, the United States military asked to review Afghan military units to see if there were any instances of “gross human rights abuses.” It did not happen even once. “DOD’s continuing to provide assistance to units for which the department has credible information of a gross violation of human rights undermines efforts by U.S. government officials to engage with the Afghan government on the importance of respect for human rights and rule of law,” the report said.

“Departments of Defense and State only began efforts to address this issue after it was raised by The New York Times (2015 report),” John F. Sopko, the special inspector general, said. “And even after that story, the sufficiency of policies they’ve put in place and the resources they’ve committed seem questionable. When Congress passed the Leahy laws they prioritized the issue of gross human rights violations. As our report clearly shows, both agencies failed to live up to that task.”

Quite clearly, the US Government chose to look away from the rampant pedophilia among its allies. While the USA keeps lecturing everyone else about human rights, they are themselves extremely willing to cooperate with pedophiles to achieve strategic geopolitical objectives. While it’s true that the blame for it does not lie with the American soldiers or their government, it does reveal the farcical nature of the West’s supposed crusade for human rights. The conduct of the US government reveals that human rights are merely a convenient excuse for the West to pursue its geostrategic objective with the means of its military.

The Democrats in the US have been lecturing India a lot about human rights following the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir. However, they were conspicuously silent when the US government was collaborating with pedophiles during Barack Obama’s presidency. They didn’t have much to say either when the US was funding terrorists in the Middle East.

The Western media, too, have lad lots to say about rising intolerance in India since Narendra Modi came to power. However, they did not subject the US government to even a fraction of the scrutiny for refusing to take any actions against Bacha Bazi. Like the political establishment, the media too remained silent when the US government was busy funding terrorists in Syria.

It’s not surprising considering the fact that the US mainstream media serves as the propaganda wing of the US military-industrial complex and the deep state. Until recently, the ‘deep state’ was considered a conspiracy theory but in recent times, since Donald Trump came to power, various intellectuals have asserted that the Deep State is actually very honourable because they want to enforce a coup against a democratically elected President the intellectuals don’t like.

The silence of the US over Bacha Bazi in Afghanistan also shows that the current clamour against China for the latter’s human rights violation in Hong Kong and Xinjiang is one giant joke. The real concern here isn’t human rights, the actual concern is that China is threatening to undermine the global hegemony of the United States. As we, at OpIndia, had said as far back in August 2018, China will not ever be made to regret its gross treatment of Uyghur Muslims.

The only reason we see the political establishment of the United States screaming about human rights violations in China is that the latter poses a serious threat to the current global world order that is designed to serve the West. If China allied itself with the West, then the latter would have been more than willing to ignore the human rights violations committed by the Chinese regime. They forced American soldiers to quit when they protested against the institutionalized pedophilia. The United States is by no means morally superior to the brutal Chinese regime.

Thus, the clowns in the Indian ‘intellectual fraternity’ who are ever more willing to fellate the US government and are often found claiming that ‘rising intolerance’ in India could affect India’s standing in the international scene are either blithering idiots, utterly naive or in the pockets of the American Establishment. The fact of the matter is, India is vital to US interests at the moment and regardless of whatever picture the ‘intellectuals’ may try to paint of the Modi Government, India’s stature would continue to rise provided there is domestic political stability. The US establishment was willing to ignore rampant pedophilia among its Afghan allies, they will be more than willing to cooperate with India, the only world power that can legitimately lay claim to moral superiority.
