Sonia Gandhi tests positive for COVID for the second time in two months as ED investigation into the National Herald scam gathers steam

Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has tested positive for COVID for the second time in two months. Party leader Jairam Ramesh tweeted this information on 13th August 2022. Sonia Gandhi had earlier tested positive for COVID on 2nd June 2022, 6 days prior to the date when she was supposed to appear before the Enforcement Directorate.

Sonia Gandhi was summoned to answer the agency regarding the National Herald scam in which she is one of the main accused along with her son and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and others.

Jairam Ramesh tweeted, “Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi has tested positive for Covid-19 today. She will remain in isolation as per Govt. protocol.” Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were summoned by the ED on 1st June 2022 and were asked to appear for questioning on 8th June. Immediately after the summons was issued, Sonia Gandhi tested positive for COVID for the first time on 2nd June 2022.

Rahul Gandhi, however, appeared before the probe agency but the Congress party held protests across the country when the interrogation was going on. Earlier in April 2022, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had questioned senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge in connection with the money laundering probe linked to the National Herald case.

On 11th July 2022, the Enforcement Directorate asked Congress president Sonia Gandhi to depose before it on July 21 in connection with a money laundering case related to the National Herald case. She was questioned on July 21, 26, and 28. During all this time, Congress workers across the country staged violent protests in various cities. Both Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi blamed the late Congress leader Motilal Vora for the financial irregularities in this case.

In the recent development in the National Herald Case, the Enforcement Directorate sealed the National Herald office in New Delhi and instructed that the premises not be opened without prior permission. The action came on 3rd August 2022, that is, a day after the ED conducted raids at 12 locations linked to Congress mouthpiece National Herald in connection with a money laundering case. Herald House is the registered office address of Associate Journals Limited (AJL), the National Herald newspaper’s publisher, which is under probe over its acquisition by Young Indian, a firm linked to the Gandhi family. ED also sealed the Young Indian’s office on 4th August 2022.

Now as the ED’s action against the Gandhi scions has picked up pace in this case, Sonia Gandhi has again mysteriously caught the COVID infection on 13th August 2022.

Rajasthan: Babu Qureshi threatens to behead youth Suraj like Kanyaiya Lal for working with Hindu organisations, arrested

Rajasthan police arrested a Muslim man named Sohid alias Babu Qureshi for issuing death threats to a Hindu youth named Suraj Kumar Kharwal who works for Hindu organizations. The accused had also shared a post on Instagram with a photograph of Suraj and a comment issuing threats. Qureshi said that if Suraj does not quit the Hindu organizations he works for, he will kill Suraj like Kanhaiya Lal was killed in Udaipur. The Pratapnagar police arrested Sohid alias Babu Qureshi, and recovered a knife, mobile, and a sharpening stone from him.

According to reports, Suraj – a resident of Azad Nagar – had reported against Babu Qureshi that he was asking Suraj to leave Hindu organizations, failing which Babu Qureshi was threatening that Suraj will have to face consequences like Kanhaiya Lal of Udaipur. Babu Qureshi called Suraj on August 5 and 7 and threatened to kill him. After this, the police registered a case against the accused after Suraj filed a complaint. Reportedly, Babu Qureshi had issued ‘sar tan see juda’ threats to Suraj asking him to leave the Hindu groups.

Along with this threat, Qureshi and some of his friends also assaulted two friends of Suraj. Suraj’s friend Shiv Patel said that when he and another friend were playing cricket at the Pratap Nagar school field, Qureshi’s friend Sameer and some other friends approached them and asked them about Suraj. When they refused to tell, they were assaulted by them with pipes and sticks. Shiv Patel lodged a complaint after the attack, and the police have registered a case in the matter also.

It is notable that Kanhaiya Lal – a Hindu tailor in Udaipur – was beheaded on June 28 by two Islamists for supporting Nupur Sharma on social media. Bharatiya Janata Party’s former spokesperson Nupur Sharma is being targeted by the Islamists after she made allegedly blasphemous remarks against the Prophet Muhammad during a debate on a TV news channel.

Investigating officer Narayan Singh arrested Sohid alias Babu Qureshi from his residence in Jangi Chowk in the Gandhi Nagar area of Bhilwara. A knife is recovered from the accused. Babu Qureshi used that knife to threaten Suraj. Apart from this, the police have also recovered the mobile phone of the accused and the stone used to sharpen the knife. The accused was then produced before the judge who sent him to jail.

Rajasthan: Armaan Khan, Mansoor Ahmed, and Mohammed Aslam raise ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans while desecrating a saffron flag, arrested

The day Uttar Pradesh police arrested a Muslim youth for unfurling Pakistan’s national flag in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, the Rajasthan police also arrested three Muslim youths for raising ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans while desecrating a saffron flag placed at the hospital square in the Jalore district in Rajasthan.

The incident was reported on August 12, Friday. Taking cognizance of the incident, the police registered a case and arrested Armaan Khan, Mansoor Ahmed, and Mohammad Aslam under IPC Sections 124-A, 153-A, 295-A, and 295 IPC.

Speaking about the incident, SP Harshvardhan Agrawal confirmed that all three accused are residents of Jalore, Rajasthan. He said that when the police got the information about the incident, they immediately reached the spot and detained the accused. The saffron flag was placed back in the same place. The trio is currently being interrogated, confirmed Agarwal.

According to media reports, Armaan is working as a home guard in Rajasthan Police. Hindu organizations strongly opposed this incident.

The MLA from Jalore, BJP’s Jogeshwar Garg, also asked the administration to take strict action against the offenders. He also appealed to the people not to support anti-social elements in their communities.

Notably, in a separate incident, a Muslim youth was arrested after he unfurled Pakistan’s national flag in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The person has been identified as Salman.

Javed Akhtar condemns stabbing of Salman Rushdie without mentioning Islamists: Here is how he had dog whistled about Satanic Verses in 2012

Hours after Salman Rushdie was brutally stabbed by a 24-year-old Hadi Matar in western New York, lyricist Javed Akhtar denounced the barbaric attack on the renowned novelist, however, there was a catch. He refused to name Islamists or the threat by Islamists that he has been living under for over 3 decades.

In a tweet on Friday (August 12), Akhtar tweeted, “I condemn the barbaric attack on Salman Rushdie by some fanatic. I hope that New York police and the court will take the strongest action possible against the attacker.” Interestingly, his tweet made no direct reference to the Islamist who orchestrated the attack. Javed Akhtar contended that the attacker was just ‘some fanatic.’

Screengrab of the tweet by Javed Akhtar

Although the lyricist was quite prompt in condemning the attack on Rushdie (without mentioning the Islamist attacker), it must be recalled that he had earlier dog whistled against the same novelist in 2012.

Salman Rushdie came into the limelight after his book “The Satanic Verses” was banned in 1988 by a host of countries, including India, under the garb of ‘blasphemy.” Javed Akhtar who otherwise pretends to be an atheist was deeply offended by the novel’s portrayal of Islamic characters.

Javed Akhtar dogwhistled against Salman Rushdie in 2012

In an interview with ‘journalist’ Barkha Dutt on NDTV in April 2012, Akhtar was asked about his stand on Rushdie and his book. “What Rushdie did is not decent. I am an atheist but there is certain decorum and basic decency in life…” he alleged.

“He has written a novel. It’s a work of fiction. In that, you take real historical people who are respected and revered by billions of people. You say very dirty things about them. What will you gain? Why are you doing this?” the pretentious atheist remarked.

The lyricist went on to claim that books such as ‘The Satanic Verses’ are counter-productive. He emphasised, “You will make them more religious and fanatic. A fundamentalist who is against freedom of expression will have a very good argument against freedom of expression.”

“That book was in extreme bad taste. Without having any religious beliefs, I felt that. You can’t do that,” Javed Akhtar warned. Whenever Barkha Dutt pointed out that free speech also includes the right to offend, Javed Akhtar started drawing false equivalence.

“Can I write anything against my neighbour? Can I call him a pimp and his house a brothel?”, he inquired to thwart criticism directed towards Islam. To reinstate his ‘secular’ and ‘atheist’ credentials, Akhtar claimed that he was not against criticism of his religion based on scholarly work.

He also claimed to have defended the right of Salman Rushdie to take part in the Jaipur Literature Festival although he had not been vocal about it. The deliberate omission of the word ‘Islamist’ from his tweet and his personal disdain for the novelist demonstrates that his condemnation is political tokenism at best.

It is a tendency among the cabal of left-liberals to do lip service and shed crocodile tears following Islamist attacks, despite creating a fertile land for such tragedies to follow.

Attack on Salman Rushdie

On Friday (August 12), Salman Rushdie was stabbed during an event at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York. The man involved in the attack was identified as 24-year-old Hadi Matar. A resident of Fairview in New Jersey, Hadi jumped onto the stage and attacked the novelist with a knife.

The accused reportedly had a pass for the event where Rushdie was invited to deliver a lecture. The authorities had also seized a backpack, belonging to the accused, from the crime scene. They claimed that the attacker might have been alone and have launched a probe to determine whether that’s the case.

As per a report by New York Times, the local police have sought help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation for determining the background and motives of Hadi Matar. Rushdie’s agent Andrew Wylie informed that he is still in a critical state.

He added that Rushdie was being put on ventilator support and that he could not speak. “The news is not good. Salman will likely lose one eye; the nerves in his arm were severed, and his liver was stabbed and damaged,” Wylie lamented.

The author of ‘The Satanic Verses’ was reportedly provided immediate medical attention by an audience member named Rita Landman. She informed that Salman Rushdie received multiple stab wounds, one to his neck and another to his abdomen.

Four Jammu and Kashmir Govt officers, including jailed terrorist Bitta Karate’s wife Assabah Khan, sacked for ‘anti-national’ activities

On Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir administration fired four government workers, including Assabah Arjumand Khan, the wife of Bitta Karate who is facing terror charges and is accused of the Kashmiri pandit exodus in the 1990s. The others who have been dismissed include an associate professor who was a former LET terrorist and a Kashmir University scientist.

According to the reports, the administration under the direction of LG Manoj Sinha dismissed the employees from services under Article 311 of the Constitution of India for their involvement in anti-national activities. “The law provides for dismissal of a person employed in civil capacities under Union or a State”, the government said in the matter.

The government in its release stated that the employees were involved in activities that were not in the interest of the security and the state. “Activities of these employees had come to the adverse notice of law enforcement and intelligence agencies. A Committee, constituted on July 30, 2020, for scrutinizing the inputs, records, and cognizable material recommended the dismissal of the 4 namely Dr Muheet Ahmad Bhat, Majid Hussain Qadri, Syed Abdul Mueed, and Assabah-ul-Arjamand Khan”, the release noted.

Reports mention that Bhat, who worked at the University of Kashmir was found to be involved in spreading a secessionist-terrorist agenda at the University by radicalizing students to further the program and agenda of Pakistan and its proxies. Whereas, Qadri, a Senior Assistant Professor at the same University is associated with the terrorist organization named LeT. He earlier had been booked under u/s 302, 307, and 427, 7/27 RPC in various terror-related cases.

Meanwhile, the wife of terrorist Bitta Karate who had a major role to play in the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s, Assabah-ul-Arjamand Khan was discovered to have connections with foreigners who have been identified by Indian security and intelligence as being on the ISI payroll. Her role in transporting funds for anti-India operations in Jammu and Kashmir has also been highlighted.

It is worth noting that wife Khan who holds a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism, had earlier said that she felt honoured to be the wife of Bitta Karate. “Getting married to him (Karate) is an honour for me. When people around me came to know that I am tying a nuptial knot with a separatist, they showed a lot of concern initially, but I made them understand that there is nothing wrong with it”, Khan said in an interview.

“When the armed struggle was at a peak in the Valley in the early nineties, militants were the most sought-after men. People used to accord them a warm welcome and give them all the respect”, she added. Karate in 1991 confessed that he had executed more than 40 Kashmiri Pandits during the Exodus. He had also admitted that Kashmiri Pandit Satish Tickoo was the first person he killed.

He was arrested in 1990 and charged with the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits. However, he was set free after 17 years. Bitta Karate, the butcher of Kashmiri Hindus, was once again arrested in 2008 during the Amarnath land row agitation. He was released eight months later, only to be picked up again in 2019 on terror funding charges. Assabah Khan on the other hand worked as an editor at the Agriculture University of Science and Technology until 2007 and passed the Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) test in 2009. She was assigned to the general administration department and in 2011, she married the terrorist.

Pakistani man claiming to be PMLN politician announces 20 Million USD bounty on Dutch MP Geert Wilders, says he is next after Salman Rushdie

Twitter has suspended the account of a Pakistani man who announced a bounty of 20 million USD for anybody who beheads Dutch Lawmaker Geert Wilders, referring to the attack on author Salman Rushdie in New York. Rehan M Sabir made threat calls announcing the bounty for beheading Geert Wilders. His Twitter profile, which has now been suspended, mentions that he is a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), the ruling party in Pakistan.

The tweet.

The tweet reads, “After the attack of Salman Rushdie Insha’Allah the next number is @geertwilderspvv. Any one from the world gave the head of @geertwilderspvv I will give 20 $ million. I want @geertwilderspvv head. We want head. All Muslims want head.”

The account of Rehan M Sabir has been suspended by Twitter following his tweet. His profile bio indicates that he is a PML(N) politician and a writer. The profile bio reads, “A Proud Pakistani, Politician, PML(N)Worker, SocialActivist, Writer, Speaker, SupportCivilSupremacy.”

The profile bio of Rehan M Sabir.

Netherlands MP Geert Wilders, who is blunt about Islamic radicalism, reacted to the death threat writing, “I can not count the amount of hate and threats they send me now after the barbaric attack on the brave #salamrushdie.”

It is worth noting that this death threat to Geert Wilders comes just after author Salman Rushdie was attacked as he prepared to give a lecture in western New York. Rushdie is best known for his book ‘The Satanic Verses,’ which sparked death threats from Islamists all over the world, particularly from Iran in the 1980s. Rushdie was attacked as he prepared to deliver a speech at the Chautauqua Institution in New York.

The threat against Geert Wilders is comparable to the one made to Salman Rushdie by Islamists all around the world. Notably, Wilders has consistently backed former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Nupur Sharma when she got death threats from Islamists for comments she made about the Islamic prophet. Wilders has been speaking constantly against Islamic fanaticism across the globe.

Islamists prodded the Dutch lawmaker to criticise Hinduism days after Geert Wilders extended his support to former BJP spokesman Nupur Sharma. Wilders had responded to the Islamist trolls by saying that he appreciates Hinduism a million times more than he does Islam. The Dutch legislator had received multiple assassination threats for supporting Nupur Sharma.

Uttar Pradesh: Kushinagar youth named Salman unfurls Pakistani flag on his house amid ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, arrested

Amid the Har Ghar Titanga campaign launched by the central government ahead of the 75th Independence Day, a Muslim youth unfurled Pakistan’s national flag in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. The person has been identified as Salman.

According to reports, Salman is a resident of Bendupar Mustakil village of Kushinagar. He was seen hoisting the Pakistani flag on the terrace of his house, the video of which has gone viral over social media. The incident enraged the local people who immediately informed the police and asked the administration to take strict action.

The locals complained that Salman had engaged himself in anti-India activities by disrespecting the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and hoisting the national flag of Pakistan instead. The Police reached the spot to verify the complaint and in immediate action asked Salman to take down the flag.

The Police also registered a complaint at the Taraya Sujan police station against the Islamist person in Kushinagar. Reports mention that the family of the accused had stopped him from hoisting the national flag of Pakistan, but to no avail. He did not agree with his family members and unfurled the Pakistani flag on the terrace of his house.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ritesh Kumar Singh talked to the media about the incident and confirmed that a case has been registered against the person. “Police first reached the spot and verified the complaint. The officers later asked Salman to take down the Pakistani flag and filed a complaint against him”, he added.

He also added that Salman has been arrested in the case and is being interrogated in the custody. “The police are investigating the whole matter. Whoever is guilty in this case will not be spared”, Kumar affirmed.

‘You made our mentors Owaisi, Maulana Madani cry’: Man threatens to blow up Yogi Adityanath, Hindu leader who filed PIL against illegal slaughterhouses

The Uttar Pradesh police have sprung into action after a man named Salman Siddiqui sent a letter to the national president of Bharatiya Kisan Manch (BKM) Devendra Tiwari threatening him and UP CM Yogi Adityanath with life. According to Aaj Tak, in a letter sent to the Hindu leader, the accused threatened to blow him and Yogi Adityanath with a bomb.

According to the media report, the reason for the death threat, as mentioned in the letter, was a PIL filed by Tiwari seeking action against illegal slaughterhouses in the state.

The letter sent to Devendra Tiwari read, “Devendra Tiwari it has been stated to you several times, yet you do not understand. Your PIL has resulted in the closure of multiple slaughterhouses in the state, robbing other Muslim brothers of their livelihood. Now you see what will happen to you. You escaped Deoband deftly, but now you and Yogi Adityanath will be blown up with a bomb. You will see the outcome within the next 15 days. The others have had their necks severed but you two (Devendra Tiwari and Yogi Adityanath) will be blown up with bombs.”

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Maulana Mahmood Madani’s names were also mentioned in the threat letter. The letter further stated, “You have made our mentors Asaduddin Owaisi and Maulana Madani cry. We shall avenge every single drop of tears they have shed.”

In light of the recent spate of threats and murders of Hindus at the hands of Islamists for alleged ‘blasphemy,’ such as the beheading of Kanhaiya Lal or the brutal murder of another Hindu man, Umesh Kolhe, the Uttar Pradesh police immediately took cognizance of the threat letter and started the investigation by registering a case against unknown people.

The country has recently been going through a tumultuous period, with Islamists becoming emboldened and issuing threats to everyone who does not share their ideology. Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma’s alleged ‘blasphemous’ remark about Prophet Muhammad on May 26 sparked outrage amongst Islamists not just in India but around the world. Her decision to merely quote an excerpt from the Islamic Hadith during a TV show proved catastrophic for her political career and mental peace after AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair dog-whistled about her comments to Islamists.

This set off a series of incidents that culminated into a constant barrage of threats at Sharma and attacks on those who dared to speak out in her support, many of which turned out to be extremely brutal.

In the last few months, rabid Islamists, who have been using Nupur Sharma just as an excuse to show muscle power and challenge state forces, have brutally executed, attacked and threatened a number of people for voicing their support for the former BJP leader on social media.

Recently, OpIndia chronicled several such incidents where rabid Islamists either went on to brutally kill, threaten or assault Hindus who voiced their support for Nupur Sharma.

After saying ‘don’t like, don’t watch’, Kareena Kapoor follows Aamir Khan’s footsteps, pleads not to boycott Laal Singh Chaddha: Here is what she said

After previously stating that those who are not interested should not see movies, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has reversed her position, begging that people not boycott her latest film, Laal Singh Chaddha. Kareena Kapoor stated in a recent interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, “They should not boycott this film, it’s such a beautiful film. And I want people to see me and Aamir.”

When RJ Siddharth Kannan questioned Kareena about her previous comment, in which she remarked “if you don’t like it, don’t watch it,” was offensive to the public or if she was disrespecting the audience, she said, “I think it’s only a section of people that are trolling. But genuinely, I think that the love the film is getting is very different. These are just a section of people who are probably on your social media, which is probably like 1%.”

Urging people not to boycott the film, she further said, “But the fact is that they shouldn’t boycott this film, it’s such a beautiful film. And I want people to see me and Aamir on screen. It’s been three years, we’ve waited so long. So, please don’t boycott this film, because it’s actually like boycotting good cinema. And people have worked so hard on it; we’ve had 250 people work on this film for two-and-a-half years.”

It is notable that these remarks from Kareena Kapoor come after the utterly disappointing beginning of her latest film Laal Singh Chaddha and widespread calls to boycott the movie. Several social media users have pointed out the U-turn taken by Kareena Kapoor Khan referring to the remarks she made in 2020 saying that people who don’t want to watch films should not watch as nobody is convincing them. Twitter user Amit Kumar shared the clips of both her remarks in a tweet.

It is pertinent to mention that back in 2020, Kareena Kapoor stated during the nepotism debate that it is the people who have made the stars and that nobody is forcing people to go and watch movies. She then said, “The audience has made us, no one else has made us. Same people pointing fingers are the ones who have made these nepotistic stars right? Aap Jaa Rahe Ho Na Film Dekhne? Mat Jao. Nobody has forced you. So I don’t understand it. I find this whole discussion is completely weird.”

Due to Aamir Khan’s previously troublesome utterances, Aamir Khan’s film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ has been mired in controversy. The film’s opening weekend box office was dismal, as demands for a boycott appear to have worked against it. Amidst the boycott calls for the film Aamir Khan himself indicated that he was apologetic if he had offended anyone, however, nobody seems to be buying the victim card now being peddled by the actors.

Pakistan: 62-year-old Ahmadi Muslim stabbed to death for refusing to chant ‘Labbaik ya Rasool Allah’, supporter of Tehrik-e-Labbaik arrested

On Friday, an Ahmadi Muslim man named Naseer Ahmad was stabbed to death for refusing to chant the Islamist slogans in the eastern town of Rabwah, Pakistan. The accused has been identified as Shehzad Rizvi who approached Ahmad and asked him to chant ‘Labbaik ya Rasool Allah’ and ‘Khadim Hussain Rizvi zindabad’. On refusing, Rizvi killed the Ahmadi, the Police confirmed. The accused is a Tehrik-e-Labbaik supporter, a party founded by Islamist Khadim Hussain Rizvi. In April 2021, Imran Khan banned the Islamist party, however, it was unbanned in November 2021.

According to the reports, the Police immediately arrested the accused on the spot and started the investigation into the case. Members of the long-persecuted Ahmadi minority, who view themselves as an Islamic movement, experience prejudice and violence in Pakistan because their ideology is accused of insulting Islam.

Saleem ud Din, the spokesperson of the Ahmadi community confirmed that the deceased was an Ahmadi Muslim. “The accused asked him to raise the slogans of an Islamist party. On refusal, he repeatedly stabbed and killed him on spot”, he said. He added that Ahmad was an active member of the Ahmadi community and was standing at a bus stop when the incident happened.

Reportedly, after killing the 62-year-old Ahmadi man, the accused raised slogans and said, “kill the one who insults the Prophet”, the video of which went viral over social media.

Meanwhile, the Chiniot district police who are investigating the case said that the motive of the murder is suspected to be the deceased’s refusal to raise the Islamist slogans but it is not yet confirmed. “We are investigating the motive behind the murder, (the suspect’s) links to any Islamist party have not been found yet”, he added.

Reports mention that Ahmadis, a community that arose in British-controlled India in the nineteenth century, are considered heretical by orthodox Muslims and are prohibited from calling themselves Muslims or using Islamic emblems in their religious ceremonies in Pakistan.

Earlier, a similar incident had happened in May in Okra district when Abdul Salam aged 33 who was also a member of the Ahmadi community was stabbed by a seminary student. Several rights groups for years have expressed concerns regarding the persecution of Ahmadis in Pakistan. They say that the Pakistan government has done nothing to date to protect the minority citizens.
