‘Activist’ claims Dalit youth was tied to a tree and beaten in a case of caste discrimination in Andhra Pradesh: What really happened

On Thursday (June 9), an ‘activist’ named Suraj Kumar Bauddh had courted controversy after he falsely claimed that a Dalit man was beaten in Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, owing to caste discrimination.

In a tweet, he had claimed, “In Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, one youth belonging to the Scheduled Caste community was stripped and tied to a tree. He was beaten mercilessly with a shoe. My heart pains me after seeing the atrocities committed in the name of caste. Shameful”

The activist had also shared a video where a man was seen tied to a tree and thrashed with a sandal. At the time of writing, the disturbing tweet had 856 retweets and over 1600 likes.

What is the Truth?

Following social media outrage, the Andhra Pradesh police took to Twitter to issue a clarification. Contrary to the claims of the Suraj Kumar Bauddh, the incident was not a case of caste discrimination. In fact, both the accused and the victim belonged to the same community.

“A video of a person tied to a tree & being beaten in Vishakhapatnam is viral on the social media. On enquiry, it is revealed that two persons (both belong to SC caste) quarreled with each other over an issue of missing mobile phone,” the cops informed.

As such, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at Pendurthy Police Station and the accused was apprehended on June 8, 2022.

The attempt by Suraj Kumar Bauddh to twist a case of personal enmity and theft into a crime, influenced by the caste of the victim, was thus debunked by the Andhra Pradesh police.

Suraj Kumar Bauddh extends support to the anti-Brahmin activist

Suraj, who is also the Founder of Mission Ambedkar, was recently seen batting for anti-Brahmin activist Thenmozhi Soundararajan whose talk was recently cancelled by Google.

In a tweet, he had claimed, “The casteism faced by Thenmozhi Soundararajan has exposed the diversity of Google. A forum which does not dare to talk on caste, diversity is just an evasion there. #CasteAtGoogle”

Opindia had earlier reported in detail how Google decided to not go forward with the scheduled talk of Thenmozhi, fearing that it might create ‘division and rancour’ in the workplace.

The Executive Director of Equality Labs alleged that a disinformation campaign was led against her by Google employees to prevent her from speaking on caste bias. She claimed that the employees labelled her ‘Hinduphobic’ and ‘anti-Hindu’ to bolster their allegations.

After being de-platformed by the tech giant for causing divisions at the workplace, Thenmozhi Soundararajan compared herself to an ‘abuse survivor’ who is not being allowed to speak on the #MeToo movement. Reportedly, the anti-Brahmin activist wanted to talk to 60 odd Google employees about ‘caste equity’ in Newsrooms.

Thenmozhi Soundararajan alleged that 7 Google employees wrote to the management against allowing the anti-Brahmin activist to conduct her talk. She alleged that they used ‘inflammatory language’ to claim they would be harmed by her discussion.

West Bengal: Violence over ‘blasphemy’ continues for third day, stones pelted on police in Howrah ignoring section 144, CM Mamata Banerjee blames BJP

Violent protests by Muslims demanding punishment to former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma for her comments on Prophet Mohammad continued for the third consecutive day in Howrah on West Bengal, completely disregarding the CM Mamata Banerjee’s appeal to protest in Delhi and on in the state. Protests and arsons took place today also in Howrah, despite presence of police forces.

There were incidents of violence by mobs of Islamists in several parts of the country on Friday 10th June 2022 in the name of protest against Nupur Sharma’s so-called controversial statement which Islamists consider blasphemy. A clash broke out once again between the police and the so-called protesters at Panchla Bazar in Howrah on 11th June 2022 Saturday morning. The miscreants pelted stones at the police and then the police had to use tear gas shells against the miscreants. The Islamists were ‘protesting’ against the controversial statement of suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma. The miscreants also vandalized some properties and set some others ablaze. It is notable that the mob of Islamists arrived in the area despite section 144 being imposed.

On the other hand, West Bengal’s chief minister Mamata Bannerjee has blamed Bharatiya Janata Party for the violence that erupted in the state after the Friday Namaz on 10th June 2022. She tweeted, “As I have said before, violent incidents have been taking place in Howrah for two days now. There are some political parties behind this and they want to cause riots – but these things will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against all of them. Why should the people suffer for the sins committed by the BJP?”

On Friday too, hundreds of protesters blocked railway tracks at different places in the Howrah district of West Bengal. As a precautionary measure, the state government suspended internet services in the Howrah district on Friday evening. An order issued by the Department of Home affairs and Hill Affairs said that the internet will remain disconnected till 6 am on Monday, June 13, 2022. The order said that voice call and SMS services will continue.

The West Bengal Police has prolonged the Section 144 CrPC imposed in and around the portions of National Highways and Railway Stations within the authority of Uluberia-Sub Division in Howrah till June 15 due to continuous conflicts in the district. The police have arrested 70 accused so far in this case.

Has the disproportionate noise and outrage on Nupur Sharma boomeranged on the Islamists?

0

Soon after the news of the Qatar govt calling the Indian ambassador to explain the blasphemy issue and BJP suspending Nupur Sharma came out, we saw a lot of people rejoicing over the news in India. The reaction of these people was one of great relief. As if someone they were trying to control for a long time, was finally tamed. The most populous minority of India, which seems to have lost the bargaining power through its vote bank since 2014 because of reverse polarization, suddenly got another lever to exert their power, ‘The Oil Daddies’ sitting in Arab countries.

While they seemed overjoyed that Arabs have come to their rescue, there are bigger implications of the way this issue has played out. Whosoever came up with the plan to make this issue international has clearly not thought this through. Yes, the image of India (specifically Modi and BJP) took a beating and that is one of the objectives they had in mind, but the issue has snowballed into something bigger. While the idea was to show the world that Muslims are abused in India, it is playing out very differently after it spread beyond the Middle East. Since then, Dutch MP Geert Wilders and British political broadcaster Dominique Samuels have extended their support to Nupur against radicals who are baying for her blood. With that, the focus is now shifting to the radical nature of people demanding action against Nupur.

Something which they were not comfortable talking about, has become a drawing-room discussion across the world

Earlier, a non-muslim had no interest in discussing the personal life of Prophet Muhammad. Following the out-of-proportion outrage, it has made people curious. Something which wasn’t even talked about earlier has become a topic of discussion in every home. Everyone is curious to know what has Nupur said which is so offensive. While there are videos of Islamic scholars saying the same thing and screenshots of hadiths stating the same, it is becoming a big puzzle why there is an outrage on Nupur’s comment only.

Blasphemy law will apply to both sides

If BJP was hesitant in filing FIR against those openly mocking the Hindu faith after Shivling was found inside the Gyanvapi structure, the demand for action against Nupur for blasphemy gave them a perfect excuse. Now there is no stopping Yogi govt from going after people who were insulting Shivlings. Clearly, this was not factored in while dialing the Arab daddies.

The propaganda of the Muslim genocide will fall flat

A lot of influencers on Twitter and other social media platforms (including those backed by Pakistan) have been trying to create a narrative that Muslim Genocide is about to take place in India. At every available opportunity, they try to paint Muslims as victims in India. Some even try to convince us that holocaust-type persecution of Muslims has already started in India. However, visuals of riots coming in from several cities where radical mobs were out on the streets demanding the death penalty for Nupur paint an entirely different picture. No one is going to believe that a ‘Dara hua Musalman’ can gather in such large numbers and run riots without any fear of the law.

No country will be comfortable accommodating refugees from the Middle East next time

“I will openly mock and insult your Gods but if you do the same to my God, I will demand your execution”. Which sane country would like to accommodate refugees who have such a radical mindset. A lot of countries that gave accommodation to Syrian refugees post 2014-15 are witnessing high crime rates and radical activities. With this glaring example, they may shut the doors on any more refugees in the future. No one wants people who are perpetually outraged. Two years after Covid, countries are still grappling with dwindling economies, they can’t afford law and order problems to make matters worse.

Qatar’s short-sightedness is out in open

Last, but not least, while Qatar may try to play Messiah of the Islamic world right now, what does it say about a country which reacts and strains foreign relations based on made-up social media outrage. Anyone who has been on social media knows how trends are created often by using bots or influencers. Often the ground reality is very different from what is being portrayed by the social media trends. Qatar had the choice to discover the entire context before taking such a stance. On the world stage, everyone is being watched, and other countries will notice how Qatar behaved with India without validating the whole story. Qatar cannot say it behaved responsibly in this situation. As this spreads in western countries, if someone from America ‘does a Nupur’, will Qatar issue a diktat to Biden? If they don’t, it only exposes their double standards.

Above are some of the unintended consequences of the coordinated social media outrage created by ‘break-India forces’. While it achieved its immediate short-term goal, it has created some long-term problems for their larger agenda to succeed.

UP: Bulandshahr man Umar Mohammad held for circumcising 9-year-old after ‘adopting’ the child without following norms, CM office takes cognizance

One Umar Mohammad was arrested by Uttar Pradesh police for allegedly circumcising a nine-year-old boy in line with Muslim norms. While the accused Umar Mohammad claimed to have adopted the kid, authorities stated he was unable to produce the necessary adoption paperwork. Four more individuals are still to be apprehended in the case.

On June 7, Mohammad, who is a resident of Agouta village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, said he adopted the boy from Mithilesh and Soni, the minor boy’s foster parents. Since his mother, Anshu, a Bihar native, died when he was a child, the couple had been caring for him.

Based on the complaint of Lohamandi outpost in-charge Yashpal Singh, a case was filed against five people on Friday under various provisions. The five accused in the case are Kunni Devi alias Soni, her husband Mithlesh Yadav, residents of Rafiganj’s Kapur Bigha village in Aurangabad’s (Bihar) district, Zulfikar, Umar Mohammad, and his wife Babli, residents of Agota’s Lohra village (Bulandshahr). Umar has been apprehended, while the other four are on the run.

Anshu, a single mother from Aurangabad’s Rafiganj village, was killed in an accident, leaving her 9-year-old child alone. Soni, the woman’s friend, was looking after the child after her. In April of this year, Umar, who worked in Lohamandi, spoke with Mithilesh, the husband of his colleague Soni, and agreed to take the child into his care.

The child was given to Umar after Mithilesh and his wife Soni signed a notary affidavit. But according to the laws, a child may only be adopted by applying on the Central Adoption Resource Authority’s website (CARA). Umar Mohammad is said to have circumcised and converted the child as soon as he took the child with him.

On June 8, a video was uploaded on Twitter, prompting the police to respond and recover the child. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC) transferred the child to the Children’s Home on Thursday. According to reports, the boy was also tortured by his new parents. The chief minister’s office has also taken cognizance of the issue.

‘Covid-19 management in Uttar Pradesh far better than in the United States’, says Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation CEO in Lucknow

According to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Uttar Pradesh’s Covid management is better compared to that of the United States. According to a news release from the state government, a BMGF delegation had a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday to discuss ways to increase technical collaboration in the health, nutrition, and agricultural sectors.

“Having observed Covid management of many countries where we work, it would be fair to state that India, especially Uttar Pradesh, was far better in Covid management than even the United States,” said Mark Suzman, CEO of BMGF. He further added, “the way the state’s leadership tackled population density and various social challenges to control the pandemic is commendable.” The delegation described the Covid management of Uttar Pradesh as “an example to the world”.

Yogi Adityanath, the state’s chief minister, stated that The Foundation has played an essential role in the effective execution of the state government’s programmes for the needy. According to the CM, the UP government has also gotten cooperation from the Foundation in combating Covid, including the establishment of dedicated Covid hospitals in Noida, Gonda, and Prayagraj.

He further stated that 95 per cent of encephalitis-related fatalities in kids have been averted. Still, more work remained to be done on the subject of health security in Uttar Pradesh, therefore the state government was establishing a medical college in each district to ensure that there was no shortage of physicians.

“The latest National Family Health Survey-5 (NFHS-5) results reveal that the state has witnessed phenomenal improvement in the health and nutrition sector,” CM Yogi said during the meeting.

As per CM Yogi, a shortage of competent nurses and paramedics remains a serious worry, and the Foundation might assist in the creation of a team of qualified, skilled, and professional nursing workers and paramedics, as well as promote this on the digital platform. He also added that much needs to be done in the field of health security in state and, therefore his government is setting up a medical college in each district of the state.

The BMGF team, led by CEO Marks Suzman, paid a visit to Lucknow’s Avantibai (women’s) hospital to assess the services provided to pregnant women and newborn children. According to Dr Seema Srivastava, the hospital’s chief superintendent, the delegation spoke with medical staff and examined services.

Naveen Jindal’s family leaves Delhi amid death threats from Islamists, gets another threat call about hunting his family down

With the Islamist ire spreading across the country as manifested in the violent protests witnessed on Friday, former BJP leader Naveen Jindal and his family continue to attract death threats from the murderous mobs who are baying for his blood for his tweets on Prophet Muhammad.

Earlier today, Jindal took to Twitter to share a screenshot of a phone number from which he is getting death threats. Jindal said he had received death threats directed at himself and his family from unknown people and tagged Delhi Police, Commissioner of Delhi Police and Lt Governor to take notice immediately.

Notably, Naveen Jindal’s family has already left Delhi after receiving death threats over his tweets on Prophet Muhammad. Jindal said that he suspected some people had followed him a few days ago when he had gone to meet someone.

He informed the police of the death threats he has been receiving ever since Mohammad Zubair of AltNews and others dog whistled about the alleged insult meted out on the Islamic Prophet. The police have taken the matter seriously as there were reports that unknown people had done a recce of his house.

“I am still living in Delhi. Out of fear my family has left the city. This is an exodus,” Jindal said.

A protest march is organised in Laxmi Nagar Chowk on Saturday evening over the vile death threats that Nupur Sharma, Naveen Jindal and their family members are receiving in the wake of their comments on Prophet Muhammad.

Pan-India protests erupt as Islamists run riot calling for the beheading of Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal

On June 10, Friday, massive protests emerged in multiple cities across the nation against Nupur Sharma, the former BJP spokesperson who has come under the attack of Islamists for quoting Islamic Hadiths on the Prophet Muhammad. After today’s Friday Namaz or Jumma, a large number of people gathered in protest against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma outside Delhi’s Jama Masjid. Visuals emerged from the location showing Muslims raising slogans against the ex-BJP spokesperson and former BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal demanding their arrest and calling for their beheading.

In Karnataka’s Belagavi, an effigy of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma was found hanging on the Fort Road, highlighting the grim nature of protests that have convulsed the nation days after AltNews co-founder Mohammed Zubair dog-whistled about her comments on Prophet Muhammad.

Demonstrators in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj took to stone-pelting after Friday Namaz to mark their protest against Nupur Sharma for her audacity to make comments on Prophet Muhammad that are mentioned in authentic and reliable Islamic Hadiths.

The violent protests by Islamists against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma also reached the Jharkhand capital of Ranchi. Violent protests broke out in the city on Friday, 10th June, over what the frenzied crowd of Muslim protesters called ‘blasphemous’ comments by Nupur Sharma.

Waseem Rizvi alias Jitendra Tyagi receiving death and beheading threat calls from Dubai and Pakistan numbers, urges UP CM to take action

Waseem Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi has written a letter to Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath saying that he is getting death threats on phone from foreign countries. He wrote that he received death and beheading threats via a WhatsApp call from Dubai on June 10, at around 11.30 pm.

In his letter, addressed to Yogi Adityanath, Waseem Rizvi wrote in Hindi that he had received the threat call from a Dubai number (+971569781862). A person who identified himself as the brother of terrorist Iqbal Kaskar warned Tyagi that he would behead him in the coming three days.

SS of Jitendra Tyagi’s letter

Notably, Iqbal Kaskar is the brother of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim, who was sent to jail by the Enforcement Directorate in February 2022 in connection with a money laundering case registered against the don and his aides.

Tyagi, the ex-Shia Waqf Board Chairman (UP), who has left Islam and accepted Hinduism, went on to say that he has received a lot of similar threats from Pakistani phone numbers. Many radical Islamists have been baying for his blood ever since he disclosed some facts about Islam, backed up by substantial evidence, he claimed. They’ve been threatening him with death over WhatsApp calls. He said that he had received the majority of threat calls from Pakistani phone numbers.

Waseem Rizvi alias Jitendra Tyagi urged CM Yogi Adityanath to take cognisance and ask the Lucknow police to register a case and initiate a probe in the matter.

Notably, last year, Waseem Rizvi, the former chairman of the Shia Central Waqf Board in Uttar Pradesh, had said that he has created a ‘new Quran’ by removing 26 verses that allegedly promote violence and arranged the remaining verses in proper sequence. Rizvi has also appealed to PM Modi to authorise the use of his ‘new Quran’ in all madrasas and Muslim institutes in the country.

Waseem Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi’s several actions in the past, be it his decision to renounce Islam and adopt Hinduism or create a ‘new Quran’ by removing 26 verses that allegedly promote violence to his ‘provocative’ speeches at the Dharam Sansad, have irked Islamists across India. A vicious campaign was launched against Jitendra Tyagi as a result of his bold initiatives. He was hounded and threatened and given multiple death and beheading threats.

Waseem Rizvi aka Jitendra Tyagi arrested for comments against Prophet Muhammad at Dharm Sansand

In December last year, an FIR was filed against Waseem Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi after his speeches made at the Haridwar ‘Dharm Sansad’ organised by Yati Narsimhanand Saraswati went viral on social media.

In January 2002, the Uttarakhand police arrested Tyagi, following an FIR filed against him on the basis of a complaint by one Gulbahar Khan from Haridwar city.

As per the complaint, Waseem Rizvi, who is now known as Jitendra Narayan Tyagi, and some other individuals made derogatory remarks against the Islamic prophet Mohammad and the followers of Islam. The complaint further states that the remarks were derogatory and provocative in nature and were made under a pre-planned conspiracy. The accused also shared their speeches live on social media.

“Taking cognizance of the video that is going viral on social media for spreading hatred by giving provocative speeches against a particular religion, a case has been registered against Wasim Rizvi alias Jitendra Narayan Tyagi,” the Uttarakhand police had said following his arrest on January 13, 2022.

After his speech, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President of Moradabad district Waki Rashid had also placed a bounty of ₹11 lakh on the head of ex-Shia Waqf Board Chairman Wasim Rizvi (now Jitendra Narayan Swami). While dubbing Rizvi as an ‘anti-social’ element, Rashid claimed that the former has been conspiring to drive a wedge between the Hindu and Muslim communities.

Beheading threats, videos enacting the act, and violent posts continue unabated on Instagram against Nupur Sharma: Here are some of them

Although it has been 2 weeks since former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma made statements about Prophet Muhammad and then apologised and retracted, the death threats issued by Islamists seem to have no end. While the threats from the streets and even on Twitter are far more visible, threats issued on Instagram have gone under the radar so far.

In a video that has now come to light, three youths were seen openly threatening to avenge the alleged blasphemy committed by the ex-BJP leader.

“She has insulted our Prophet. It is the duty of the law to hang her. And if we take the matter in our hands (which is justice as per Islamists), don’t label us as terrorists,” they were heard as saying. A Twitter user named Sanghis United had posted the video clip and demanded action from the Kota police in Rajasthan.

One Instagram user (@kaniatkhan100) called for the decapacitation of Nupur Sharma’s head. “Gustak-e-Nabi ki ek hi saza sarr tann se juda (The punishment for blasphemy is death).”

Another Islamist named Fatima marked the image of Nupur Sharma with a red marker and vowed to not tolerate any ‘insults’ hurled at Prophet Muhammad.

Screengrab of the Instagram post

One Islamist shared a beheading scene from the web series ‘Ertugrul’ and morphed the image of BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma onto the face of the convict.

In a video posted by one Haider Ali, a man could be seen inciting his co-religionists to murder the former BJP spokesperson. “By looking at this gathering, you can realise how much we love our Prophet… The punishment for insulting him is Death,” he said.

In a video posted by ‘journalist’ Usama Hazari, he was seen endorsing an Islamist who called for the reinstatement of the Khilafat. The Khilafat movement, aimed at pan-Islamism, was led by Muslims against the British colonial rule in India.

Mahatma Gandhi had announced his support for the Khilafat movement, who himself was leading the non-cooperation at that time. Gandhi had dreamt of achieving Indian independence through ‘Hindu-Muslim unity’, and this had resulted in the Congress party joining hands with the Muslim League against British India.

After the Khilafat movement began to fade, communal tension brewing underneath the facade of ‘Hindu-Muslim unity’ surfaced.

Kashmiri Youtuber enacts beheading of Nupur Sharma

On Friday (June 10), a Kashmir-based Youtuber digitally recreated the act of beheading the former BJP spokesperson. The accused, identified as Faisal Wani, had posted a disturbing video on his Youtube channel named ‘Deep Pain Fitness’.

In the said video, Wani could be heard as saying, “No action…Gustak-e-Rasool ki eki hi saza… Sarr Kalam (The punishment for blasphemy is beheading).”The Youtuber then proceeded to behead an image of Nupur Sharma with an axe.

The gory video also showed Wani, holding the former BJP leader’s severed head and tossing it away with disgust. The matter came to light after journalist Aditya Raj Kaul posted a snippet of the video on Twitter. Following outrage on social media, Wani claimed innocence in the hopes of averting legal action.

Wani, who enacted the beheading of the former BJP spokesperson, lamented how his video was shared by the media. “I have said in my earlier videos that my intention is never to hurt religious sentiments. Because our religion (Islam) teaches us tolerance,” he claimed.

Police to install CCTV cameras at Idgah Maidan in Chamarajpet, Karnataka, as Hindus question why only Muslims were allowed to use the site: Details

Due to an ongoing dispute over ownership of the 2.5-acre Idgah Maidan in Chamarajpet, the Karnataka Police, in partnership with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), has decided to install closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) around the 2.5-acre Idgah Maidan in Chamarajpet.

After a few Hindu organisations sought clarity on why just one community was permitted to use the site when it was under the BBMP, the BBMP recently said that the land belongs to them and that members of all communities can use it with permission from the Joint Commissioner, BBMP (West).

The department met with BBMP officials and decided to install CCTV cameras around Idgah Maidan, according to a senior police officer. “Twelve CCTV cameras are being fixed surrounding the site. The cameras come with 4MP Zoom and 4K Clarity features and will be connected to monitor the premises. Chamrajpet police station will have access to the footage,” he said.

The Central Muslim Association (CMA), which presented paperwork and records to the BBMP on Thursday supporting their claim to the site, stated on Friday that while they were unaware of the intentions for CCTVs to be placed there, they would not oppose it since it would boost security surrounding the land.

Hindu organisations are asking for the site to be made accessible for events such as Independence Day, International Yoga Day, Ganesha Festival, and others. Tushar Girinath, the BBMP’s Chief Commissioner, had previously indicated that the ground was listed as BBMP property in some records, despite the fact that some documents from the Supreme Court order were missing. The CMA, on the other hand, has presented through tapal the Gazette Notification documents from 1965, which prove that the land is within its control.

S M Srinivasa, special commissioner and West Zone in-charge, stated that everything is being done to ensure the area’s security.

‘Protest’ against Nupur Sharma reaches Uttarakhand: Islamists hit the streets in Uddham Singh Nagar, Haridwar on high alert after violence in Saharanpur

The brutal campaign launched by Islamists against Nupur Sharma, the former BJP spokesperson is only becoming more intense with every passing day. After the Jumma Namaz on Friday, June 10, radical Islamists not only wreaked havoc in states like Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Maharashtra, Delhi, and West Bengal but also in various regions of Uttarakhand.

Muslims reportedly protested in Rudrapur, Kela Khera, Bazpur, Jaspur, Khatima, and Kichha tehsil in the Uddham Singh Nagar district in Uttarakhand after the Friday Namaz on June 10.

Rudrapur in Uddham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand saw Muslims raising slogans against the ex-BJP spokesperson and former BJP leader Naveen Kumar Jindal and demanding their arrest. Islamists had protested for about 20-minutes after which the Police forces reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The crowd was dispersed and for the next two hours, the police team remained on the scene to make sure no untoward incident takes place.

According to Manjunath TC, the SSP of Udham Singh Nagar the police had prior information about the protests which is why the teams were dispatched to the affected areas immediately and the situation was brought under control.

The police further informed that, on being forced by protesting Islamists, shopkeepers in Kela Khera had kept the market closed until noon on June 10. Following this, dozens of people gathered at the gates of the Kela Khera police station. A team of five people went inside to hand over a memorandum addressed to the President of India to SO Bhuvan Chandra Joshi. They demanded the immediate arrest of former BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslim community by remarking on the Prophet Muhammad.

The majority of shops in the Idgah Market on Rampur Road in Bazpur were also forced to remain shut. A group of Islamists under the leadership of the city Imam Mohammad Ayyub Noori submitted a memorandum to SDM Seema Vishwakarma on Friday in Jaspur demanding strict action against Nupur Sharma.

Haridwar in Uttarakhand kept on high alert keeping in view the violent protest that emerged in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur

Meanwhile, citing the tense situation in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur, which erupted after tens of thousands of Islamists stormed the streets, forcing stores to close their doors and raising slogans against the former BJP spokesperson, the Uttarakhand police have issued a high alert in Haridwar. Police teams have been deployed in and around markets and religious places to avert any untoward incident.

Islamists run amok in Saharanpur demanding the arrest of Nupur Sharma

On June 10, Islamists had hit the streets in several parts of Uttar Pradesh like Saharanpur, Lucknow, Deoband, Moradabad and Prayagraj to protest against Nupur Sharma. In Saharanpur and Prayagraj especially, the protest had taken a violent turn with the protestors pelting stones at the security forces after sloganeering.

Visuals had emerged from the protest site in Saharanpur where tens of thousands of Islamists were seen crowding onto the streets raising anti-Nupur Sharma slogans. The police intervened and tried to disperse the crowd but seemed incapable to do so in front of the huge crowd of protestors. The protestors had reportedly tried to march toward the Ghantaghar in Saharanpur. Police had to then resort to light lathicharge to disperse the mob.

In another video shared by NDTV, Muslims in large numbers gathered in a locality in Saharanpur after the Friday Namaz and forced shopkeepers to shut their shops. They also raised slogans against the ex-BJP spokesperson and demanded her immediate arrest.
