Elle India quietly deletes wildly dishonest and controversial anti-Hindu article after getting mocked online

On November 1, Elle India finally deleted the controversial article in which the author had ranted against Hindus for raising their voice against certain brands that misrepresent Hindu festivals and spread negativity around Hindu celebrations. The archived version of the article by author Ruman Baig can be seen here.

Interestingly, the controversy was not limited to Elle publishing an unnecessary rant article, but there was more to the story. The illustrator that goes by the name Lord_VoldeMaut alleged that Elle did not take permission from him to publish his artwork on their Instagram account with the snippet of the article in the description.

The controversial article and series of events around it

On October 31, the fashion magazine Elle India decided to give Ruman Baig, a fashion writer platform to rant against Hindus for criticising brands who have insulted Hindu customs, rituals and festivals with their ads or campaigns.

Since Hindus have taken to online platforms and social media to criticise brands that attack Hindu culture, customs or festivals, the author was so rattled that in the so-called satirical article, she tried to paint Hindus as villains. She alleged that because of the continuous attacks on the brands, the designers and creative artists could not ‘go wild with their imagination’.

It is notable here that brands like Tanishq and FabIndia were only criticised online by their target customer base which did not like their ads. Nobody vandalised their showrooms, no one caused them harm. Seeing that their target customer base is not impressed with their ad, these brands had withdrawn the ads and issued clarifications. But the article and the accompanying illustration by Elle had tried to present a dishonest image, portraying as if Hindus were indulging in violence against some particular brands, forcing them to withdraw ads.

Also, like all self-proclaimed ‘secular-liberal’ virtue signalling that is so common in India, the article had issues only with Hindus, its target were only the Hindus, who had objected to certain brands. It had no mentions of the actual instances of atrocities and intolerance displayed by other communities.

The article did not please anyone and faced severe backlash from the Hindu community. On the other hand, Elle India used an illustration in which Hindus were seen closing down businesses of FabIndia etc. Interestingly, the illustration was not included in the article. Soon after the illustration and snippet of the article got published on Elle India, where they had tagged both the author and the illustrator, they faced backlash.

Screenshot of Instagram post b Elle India, Nobody had ‘attacked’ FabIndia or Tanishq, all these brands got was online criticism, but Elle India illustration had shown ‘saffron-clad’ goons’ shutting down the business of these brands.

Amidst the backlash, Elle India removed the author’s name from the Instagram post but kept the handle of the illustrator resulting in him facing the backlash. He finally deactivated his Twitter account and came back with a changed handle which is currently private on Twitter. Notably, the artist regularly posts anti-Hindu posts on his social media accounts.

After getting backlash from the Hindus and the illustrator, Elle India quietly removed the post from Instagram. However, the article stayed live. They might have thought that the backlash would cool down, but it did not happen. On Monday late night, the article was also removed from the online platform of Elle India. The people who were behind the article have locked their social media accounts. Elle India has not issued an apology or statement yet.

Miss South India Ansi Kabeer and former Miss Kerala runner-up Anjana Shaja die in a car accident in Kochi

Miss South India 2021 and Miss Kerala 2019 Ansi Kabeer, along with Miss Kerala 2019 runner-up, Dr Anjana Shajan, were killed in a tragic car accident that occurred on the Vyttila-Palarivattom Bypass in Kochi on Sunday night.

According to reports, both the women had died on the spot and the police informed that the accident took place at around 1.30 am on the National Highway stretch located in between Vytilla and Palarivattom near Holiday Inn Hotel. The reports said that the car in which Kabeer and Shajan were travelling came from the Vytilla side and rammed into a tree after hitting a two-wheeler.

As per preliminary information, two Thrissur natives Abdul Rahman and Muhammad Asif were also in the car and they were taken to the Ernakulam Medical Centre hospital after suffering critical injuries. The person travelling in the two-wheeler sustained minor injuries.

As per reports, Kabeer and Shajan were brought dead to the hospital. CCTV cameras showed that that the car was travelling at a high speed when it suddenly lost control after sighting the scooter in its path.

After hearing about the death of Ansi Kabeer, her mother Raseena attempted suicide on Monday morning. She was admitted to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram by police after she consumed poison in an attempt to suicide.

Ansi Kabeer who hailed from Thiruvananthapuram had won the Miss Kerala title in 2019 and was also crowned Miss South India in 2021. Dr Anjana Shajan was the runner-up in Miss Kerala 2019 and a native of Thrissur.

Ansi Kabeer had to overcome resistance from her orthodox family to win Miss Kerala 2019 and then Miss South India 2021. Both the beauty queens were in the initial phase of their acting and modelling careers when the incident happened.

‘Very weak statement’: Kapil Dev criticizes Virat Kohli for post-match comments after defeat versus New Zealand

Former Indian Captain Kapil Dev has criticized Virat Kohli for his post-match comments after India’s loss to New Zealand at the T20 world cup on Sunday. Kohli had said that the Indian players were not brave enough with the bat or ball in the post match presentation ceremony. Kapil Dev had termed Kohli’s statement that the Indian players were not brave enough as weak and said that the head coach Ravi Shastri and mentor MS Dhoni should uplift the team in these difficult times.

Virat Kohli said, “Quite bizarre. To be very honest and brutal up front, I don’t think we were brave enough with bat or ball”. Kapil Dev then said that this was unexpected of Kohli to make such a weak statement.

Kapil Dev told ABP news, “For a big player like him, it is a very weak statement. If that is the kind of body language the team has and if that is kind of thought process the captain has, it is really tough to lift the team. I felt a little strange hearing those words. He isn’t that kind of a player,” and added, “He is a fighter. I think he got lost in the moment or something. A captain should not say words like ‘we were not brave enough’. You are playing for your country and he has the passion. But when you say such words, fingers will definitely be pointed.”

India suffered two consecutive losses at the T20 World Cup going on in the UAE. The cricket fans in India were shocked and disappointed after India lost by eight wickets to New Zealand with the chances of India qualifying for the semi-finals looking almost impossible. Kapil Dev justified the criticism faced by the Indian cricket team. About India’s chances of qualification to the next stage, he said, “If we have to go through based on somebody else’s performance, then I don’t like it. If you have to be in the semis, do it on your own merit. I don’t think it is a good idea to place your hopes on anyone else.”

The Indian cricket team has received great criticism recently after the two defeats and Virat Kohli has been at the receiving end of it even before the tournament began. The Indian captain was criticised when he had announced that he would give ‘personal tips’ on how to celebrate a ‘meaningful Diwali’ for a promotional campaign which did not sit well with people on social media.

President revokes suspension of DoT officer Ashish Joshi who was suspended for misusing official letterhead in political agenda

0

President Ram Nath Kovind has revoked the suspension of DoT officer Ashish Joshi, who was suspended in February 2019. Ashish Joshi was working as a controller of communication accounts at the Department of Telecom (DoT) before his suspension.

It is notable that many media reports mention him as an IAS officer, but he is actually an Indian Post & Telecommunication Accounts and Finance Service (IP & TAFS) officer, not an IAS officer. In July this year, the DoT had extended his suspension by 90 more days.

The controversial officer was suspended after he had asked the Delhi Police to take action against the then revel AAP leader Kapil Mishra, who is in BJP now, and almost all media reports had connected the suspension with this incident, but the suspension order issued to Ashish Joshi didn’t cite any reason.

Joshi had written a letter to the Delhi Police seeking action against Kapil Mishra for an alleged incendiary video, and it was circulated on social media by several journalists that it was a ‘circular’ by the DoT against the AAP MLA. The letter was written on official letterhead, but Joshi had no authority to issue such a ‘circular’ against an MLA, and it was a clear misuse of his official position for his political agenda.

While the suspension order of Ashish Joshi didn’t mention the reason for the same, it was reported citing DoT sources that he was suspended for misusing his official position by sending the complaint to Delhi Police against Kapil Mishra on his official letterhead and for violation of conduct rules.

Moreover, Joshi was also accused of being involved in a “blanket-tea scam”. It was alleged that he had misused funds allocated to the Delhi Urban Improvement Shelter Board from the Centre for Holistic Development, an NGO that works for homeless people. A complaint filed by the NGO had said, “As much as Rs.12 crore, which was allocated to DUSIB by the Lieutenant-Governor for schemes aimed at making the lives of the homeless in Delhi better, was misused during the last financial year.” Ashish Joshi as a member of the DUSIB at that time.

According to the complaint, an estimated 20,000 blankets, sheets and other provisions were procured at double the price from the market. On the other hand, tea was procured at Rs. 9 per cup against the sanctioned cost of Rs 4 per cup.

‘Abandoned’ after the fall of Afghanistan to Taliban, US allies including former Afghan spies and soldiers join hands with ISIS

0

Two months after the US forces left the territory of Afghanistan, a large number of their ‘abandoned’ spies and allies have joined hands with the radical Islamist outfit ISIS, reported The Wall Street Journal (WSJ). ISIS is now the only threat to the incumbent Taliban government in Afghanistan.

WSJ cited Taliban leaders to claim that the number of such US allies, defecting to ISIS, is growing each day. Reportedly, the defectors are providing warfare techniques and intelligence gathering expertise to the ISIS terrorists and thereby strengthening them to overthrow the Taliban government. Following the departure of the US forces, the Talibs raided the houses of Afghans who had worked for the US regime. Fearing threats to their lives, many had joined the regional affiliate of ISIS, the Islamic State-Khorasan Province.

Citing a former Afghan national army official, WSJ reported that several men from the Afghan Republic’s Intelligence and Military also have joined the ISIS-K in recent weeks. He added that an army officer was killed in the past week while fighting the Talibs. Ex-head of the National Directorate of Security, Rahmatullah Nabil, informed, “In some areas, ISIS has become very attractive. If there were a resistance, they (former Afghan security and defence forces) would have joined the resistance. For the time being, ISIS is the only other armed group.”

ISIS-K lures unemployed Afghan officials to the Islamist outfit to fight Taliban

One of the grim realities facing Afghanistan is that hundreds of thousands of ex-soldiers, former police officials and Afghan Republic Intelligence officers are unemployed. Despite being assured of amnesty, they fear threats to their lives. Reportedly, many of these ex-officials who worked in the National Directorate of Security, have resumed work under the Taliban government, But they have not been paid their wages for months. In order to lure such unemployed personnel to ISIS-K, the Islamic State terrorists are providing them with large sums of money and assurance of security against the Taliban regime.

The Talibs continue to blame the United States and Afghanistan’s Intelligence Service for the creation of ISIS-K. However, such claims have already been dismissed by both the US government and the former Kabul government. Although both Islamic State-Khorasan Province and Taliban are radical Islamist outfits, the former follow Salafi Islam while the latter adhere to the Hanafi school of Sunni Islam. ISIS-K, which had become weak following a Taliban offensive in 2015, re-emerged after the withdrawal of US forces and the fall of Kabul to the Taliban.

Taliban unwilling to accept ISIS as a major threat

The Wall Street Journal reported that the US Intelligence has begun providing information to the Talibs about the Islamic State. However, the Taliban is reluctant to consider the ISIS-K as a major threat. While speaking about the matter, senior Taliban leader Mawlawi Zubair remarked, “We are not faced with a threat nor are we worried about them. There is no need, not even a tiny need, for us to seek assistance from anyone against ISIS.” He further added, “In the current situation, we are not dealing with a few difficulties, we are facing many. If we get rid of all our economic and administrative problems, ISIS will disappear in 15 days in all of Afghanistan.”

US forces left behind biometric data of Afghan allies

After Kabul fell at the hands of the Taliban, it came to light that the United States had left its allies in Afghanistan vulnerable to attack by the radical Islamist outfit. As per an exclusive report by Politico, the Biden administration had handed out a list of American citizens, Afghan allies, and green card holders to the Taliban so as to allow their evacuation from the Hamid Karzai International airport in Kabul. Despite being well aware that the Taliban has a history of killing US allies, the decision to provide specific names to the Islamist outfit by the Biden administration had put their life in jeopardy.

Not just the lists, the Taliban reportedly also have biometric data of all Afghans who had worked with US and NATO forces. After the capture of Afghanistan, a large number of biometric devices, along with weapons, vehicles, and ammunition left behind by American and fleeing Afghan forces were captured by the Taliban. With the US-built military devices, the Taliban now potentially have the access to the biometric database of Afghans. Politico had reported how the Taliban was going door-to-door in search of Afghan interpreters and US allies, after the Biden administration ‘outsourced’ the security to the Taliban.

Elle had a ‘little’ rant: Who are behind Elle India? Meet its author, Digital Editor, Publisher and a cartoonist angry with them

On October 31, Elle India published an article targeting Hindus for raising their voice against brands that have been targeting Hindu culture and festivals. The Hindu outrage irked the magazine and the author who penned the article to the extent that they tried to make Hindus look like villains for not allowing brands to “run wild with creativity”.

The question here is, can just outrage irk someone so much that they decide to paint Hindus as villains? There must be something deep-rooted in the sense of intellect among the people behind Elle India and that particular report that caused the unrest.

OpIndia decided to dig the profiles of a few people linked to the article, Elle and the illustration they used. First of all, let’s talk about Ruman Baig, the author of the so-called satirical article titled “Politics Of Shades & Silhouettes – India’s Latest Fashion Trend”. Baig has a very limited presence on Twitter, but it is more than enough to reveal her thought process. While doing our own research, we noticed that Vijay Patel, an investigative journalist, has also dug some history on her.

Ruman, who has now locked her profile, does not tweet much, but she loves retweeting some “intellectuals” and “eminent” journalists on Twitter. One of the notable names among those was Afreen Fatima. In the tweet that Baig had retweeted from August, Fatima had talked in favour of Sharjeel Imam, the same person who had talked about cutting off Assam from the rest of India during anti-CAA protests. This is the same Afreen Fatima who had spewed venom against Hindus and Ram Mandir verdict in the past.

Posts retweeted by Ruman Baig. Source: Twitter.

Another interesting person who she had retweeted was Puneet Sharma, who had blamed Hindus for targeting Muslims in India. In the tweet, he had written that Muslims and Muslim things are like drugs for Hindus. If, for some reason, everything related to Muslims vanished from India, Hindus would have withdrawal symptoms.

The tweets she has liked provides further insight into her ideology.

Now coming to the Digital Editor of Elle, Ainee Nizami Ahmadi. She has also locked her profile since the outrage happened against Elle’s article. Digital Editors are responsible for the content that goes on the digital platform of any brand, in this case, Elle. Again, she has a limited presence on Twitter. However, in December 2020, she has retweeted a post by Aysha Renna where Renna, along with other women, were standing on a vehicle during anti-CAA protests and raising anti-India slogans.

Posts retweeted by Ainee Nizami Ahmedi. Source: Twitter

Under Ahmadi, the illustration on Elle’s Instagram account was posted in which Hindus were seen closing down shutters of FabIndia and other brands. The illustration was created by one Lord_VoldeMaut, a 19-year-old “artist” who often post anti-Hindu content on Twitter and Instagram. Now here is a catch. The “artist” has claimed that Elle… wait for it… STOLE THE ARTWORK! The illustration was allegedly posted without his/her permission on Elle’s Instagram account.

To give Elle some points here, they did give the artist due credit and tagged his account. But their tag backfired for the poor artist as a wave of critics approached him and checked what kind of content he had been posting. Lord_VoldeMaut has deactivated his Twitter account and locked his Instagram account.

Furthermore, it should be noted that Lord_VoldeMaut ran a whole series of contentious posts throughout October in the guise of “#Inktober” which is a hashtag used by artists to publish new work every day in the month of October.

In a post that is only available in the form of screenshots on social media, the artist had called out Elle for publishing his artwork without his permission. He alleged after the outrage, Elle deleted the name of the writer from the post but kept his name intact that directed the critics towards him.

BTW the artist is back with a changed handle as Comrade_Kira.

The artist has changed his twitter handle to Comrade_Kira

Another person associated with Elle that raised eyebrows is the publisher Arif Ayyub, brother of so-called journalist Rana Ayyub. While he has very little presence on Twitter, he often shares reports and posts about his sister on his Facebook account. While Rana is extremely vocal against the government, it seems like the other Ayyub has toned down his voice on social media but feels free to propagate anti-Hindu material via the magazine.

Meanwhile, Elle India has deleted the controversial cartoon from their social media handle after receiving backlash over the same.

Update: In January 2022, Elle India took to Twitter to inform that Arif Ayyub is no longer associated with the publishing house. As per the tweet, he had resigned in August 2019.

Haryana Govt imposes a blanket ban on firecrackers during Diwali in 14 districts in NCR under section 144

0

The Haryana Disaster Management Authority has placed a blanket ban on all types of firecrackers under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) across the State’s 14 districts that fall within the NCR during the upcoming Diwali celebrations on November 4. The decision comes a day after the Gurugram district administration had permitted a two-hour window for bursting green crackers in the state.

The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram posted the official communique issued by the District Magistrate Gurugram on October 31 on its official Twitter handle which specified that there would be a total ban on the sale of or use of all kinds of firecrackers in District Gurugram during the festival season of Diwali, Gurupurab and Kartik Purnima, Christmas eve, New Year eve.

It read that the ban has been placed keeping in view the covid-19 pandemic through which the State of Haryana is passing. It further added that the winter season is approaching, during which aged children, those with co-morbidities, and others may experience respiratory issues. People frequently burst crackers during the upcoming festival season of Diwali, Gurupurab and Kartik Purnima, Christmas eve, and New Year eve, which might harm the respiratory health of vulnerable groups while also aggravating the health condition of Covid-19 positive people in home isolation.

The order read that the decision was taken in “compliance with the various directions of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Hon’ble Supreme Court”.

“Commissioner of Police, Gurugram shall be responsible for the compliance of the above orders. Any person found guilty of violation of this order shall be prosecuted and punished as per law under section 188 of the Indian Penal”, added the order.

Ahead of Diwali and in view of the coronavirus pandemic, authorities in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, have invoked Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which prohibits gatherings of four or more individuals in a public location. The ban was put in place on October 31 and will be in effect until November 30.

Jhunjhunu Police in Rajasthan also imposes section 144 during Diwali

Prior to this, Jhunjhunu Police in Rajasthan also imposed section 144 during the upcoming Diwali celebrations. A tweet posted on the social media platform by the verified account of Jhunjhunu Police said that prohibitory orders have been issued under Section 144 of the IPC. The restrictions have been imposed on the orders of District Collector Umar Deen Khan.

Supreme Court refuses a complete ban on firecrackers, sets aside Calcutta HC’s total ban in WB

It may be noted that today, the Supreme Court of India has set aside the order of the Calcutta High Court imposing a complete ban on firecrackers in the state of West Bengal. On October 29, the Calcutta High Court had ordered a complete ban on all kinds of firecrackers throughout the state of West Bengal during the upcoming festivals including Diwali, Kali Puja, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. The court had said that only wax or oil-based diyas can be used and banned all firecrackers including green firecrackers which are allowed by the SC and the NGT.

Calling the High Court order ‘extreme’, the apex court said, “we are convinced that Calcutta High Court should have called upon parties to give an explanation before passing such an extreme order.”

The apex court said that there cannot be a complete ban on firecrackers, which it had already said on 29 October in a different case, and asked the authorities to strengthen mechanisms to supervise and implement its orders.

Watch: Pakistani news anchor breaks out into laughter after panellist shows sizes of bananas from Mumbai and Dhaka with hand gestures

A Pakistani news anchor broke into laughter when a panellist described various sizes of bananas in detail on detail using hand gestures. Alveena Agha, an anchor in the News One TV channel from Pakistan, was talking about bananas with her guest Khawaja Naveed, when she burst into laughter after learning that bananas in Mumbai and Dhaka are larger than the bananas found in Pakistan. A video of the clip was shared by Pakistani journalist Nalia Inayat on Twitter.

In the video, panellist Khawaja Naveed is heard saying, ‘If some research and investment is made, then bananas found in Bombay (Mumbai) are this big that if six bananas are kept in a room, then the smell of the bananas spreads in the entire room.’ While saying this, the man also used his wrist to indicate the size of bananas found in Mumbai.

Then the Pakistani banana expert praised the bananas from Dhaka and said, ‘in a similar way, the bananas in Dhaka are this big unlike those found in Sindh,’ again using his wrist to indicate the size of Bangladeshi bananas. According to Khawaja Naveed, the bananas in Sindh were very poor in terms of size.

When ‘banana expert’ Khawaja Naveed was indicating the size of bananas from Mumbai and Dhaka using hand gestures, some other (dirty?) thoughts might have occurred in the mind of Alveena Agha. The apparent ‘thought’ in her mind was strong that she could not stop herself from breaking in laughter on live TV, trying to keep her head down. Continuing with her laughter, the anchor said that the research on bananas is very poor in Pakistan and more development is needed in this field. After that, she asked Khawaja Naveed to clarify to the viewers that he was only talking about the research and development in Pakistan concerning bananas.

Despite the wild laughter by Agha, Naveed kept his cool with a smile, and said, ‘They should do research and bring the bananas from Bombay and Dhaka to Pakistan which would increase their demand and sale.’

India makes a strong claim for inclusion in the Nuclear Supplier Group at the G20 meet, links it with achieving climate goals

On Sunday (October 31), India highlighted that achieving its climate goals is dependent on its inclusion in the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group (NSG) that has been held hostage by China, reported The Times of India. The country emphasised the need for the availability of technology towards meeting the “Common but Differentiated Responsibilities and Respective Capabilities (CBDR-RC)” that were laid down during the G20 meeting on climate action in Italy.

While speaking about the matter, India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal stated, “This is something that will have to be decided in terms of types of technologies that will be available for climate transition. For example, for our technology to be replaced from coal to, maybe, nuclear, we will need large amounts of capital for setting up nuclear power plants, both to replace our current demand, and for our future demand that our development imperative requires. We will need to be a member of the Nuclear Suppliers’ Group for adequate availability of raw material for nuclear supply and several other associated concerns around the cost of power.”

India has taken an ‘assertive stance’ in the face of pressure put down by the developed Western nations on all countries to adopt a net zero emission target. Piyush Goyal informed that the onus lay on developed countries that have borne the fruits of low-cost energy for several years. He added that for developing countries to achieve net zero carbon emission targets, the developed nations have to move faster and make net negative space for them. Goyal emphasised the importance of technological availability for developing nations to reach sustainable climate change goals.

India also put pressure on the developed nations to provide $100 billion annually through 2025 and not later than 2023 to help achieve these goals. It laid emphasis on mobilising capital for supporting green initiatives and sustainable development. In line with PM Modi’s vision to promote sustainable lifestyle choices, Piyush Goyal informed, “For the first time, G20 has identified sustainable and responsible consumption and production, along with the provision of finance and technology as ‘critical enablers’ for achieving climate goals of keeping 1.5 degrees within reach.”

Between 2014 and 2019, India has become a member of all the key anti-nuclear, biological and chemical weapons proliferation groups like the Australia Group, Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) and the Wassenaar Arrangement (WA) except for Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), where India’s admission is opposed by China at the behest of Pakistan. NSG rules suggest that a new member can be admitted only if all the members mutually agree. Even if one member opposes, the new member can’t be admitted. China is using this clause to its advantage for stalling India’s admission, where all other members of NSG are positive about India’s admission to the NSG.

2013 bomb blasts in Patna: Four Islamic terrorists sentenced to death, 2 get life imprisonment

0

The special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court Monday, November 1, announced the quantum of punishment for the nine Indian Mujahideen terrorists convicted in the 2013 Patna Gandhi Maidan serial blasts case.

Four of the nine convicts, namely Imtiaz Ansari, Mohammed Mujibullah Ansari, Haider Ali alias ‘Black Beauty’ and Noman Ansari, have been awarded the death penalty. Two namely Azharuddin Qureshi and one other have been given life imprisonment, while two others namely Ahmed Hussain and Mohammed Firoze Aslam have been given ten years in jail. One accused is sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

Earlier, on October 27, judge Gurwinder Singh Malhotra heading the NIA court had convicted Haider Ali alias Black Beauty, Noman Ansari, Mohammed Mujibullah Ansari, Mohammed Imtiaz Alam, Ahmed Hussain, Mohammed Firoze Aslam, Imtiaz Ansari, Mohammed Iftiqar Alam and Azharuddin Qureshi of the banned terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM). One Fakruddin was not convicted due to a lack of evidence.

The court had posted the case for hearing on November 1 to pronounce the quantum of punishment for the convicts.

During Narendra Modi’s Hunkar rally at Gandhi Maidan in October 2013, Indian Mujahideen terrorists had carried out a plan to assassinate Modi. Six massive blasts shook the jam-packed area ahead of Modi’s arrival. The incident resulted in the deaths of six individuals and the injuries of 83 more. Despite the terror incident, the BJP leaders had calmed the crowd and Modi had addressed a rally that drew a gathering of over three lakh people.

Another massive explosion occurred inside a bathroom on platform 10 of the Patna train station, killing a major suspect, 25-year-old Tariq Ansari alias Enul. The dead was one of numerous Indian Mujahideen trainees who had travelled from Ranchi to Patna with explosives in order to kill Modi.

On November 6, 2013, the Lucknow branch of the NIA took over the investigation. The probe revealed Indian Muhaideen had set up its modules in Ranchi.
