UP: FIR registered against Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair for derogatory remarks against Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin, Yati Narsinghanand and Swami Anand Swaroop

On June 1, Khairabad Police of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh filed a First Investigation Report (FIR) against Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair for using derogatory language against Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin, Rashtriya Sanrakshak of Rashtriya Hindu Sher Sena along with Yati Narsinghanand and Swami Anand Swaroop. The FIR was registered based on the complaint of Bhagwan Sharan, district head of Rashtriya Hindu Sher Sena, under sections 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

In his complaint, Sharan said, “On May 27, Mohammed Zubair used derogatory remarks against Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin Ji by using the term ‘Hate Mongers’ for him from his Twitter handle. He also abused Yati Narsinghanand and Swami Anand Swaroop.”

He further said there was no enmity between Mohd Zubair and Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin. “He [Zubair] did it to intentionally spread hatred in the society and hurt religious sentiments of Hindus under a well thought out conspiracy. Hindus are hurt because of his irresponsible actions. I want to bring your attention to the fact that he indulges in such acts to incite Muslims against nationalist Hindus. Many prominent personalities like Kamlesh Tiwari, Yati Narsinghanand and others have become a target of such remarks. These were either killed, or attempts were made to kill them.”

Sharan added, “Notably, Delhi Police had filed a case against him under POCSO Act. If any communal tension arises because of his remarks, he should be held responsible for it.”

Zubair’s derogatory tweet against Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin

On May 27, while targeting Times Now editor Navika Kumar, Zubair said in a tweet, “Why do we need Hate Mongers like Yati Narasinghanand Saraswati or Mahant Bajrang Muni or Anand Swaroop to arrange a Dharam Sansad to speak against a community and a Religion when we already have Anchors who can do a much better job from News Studios.”

Zubai was accusing Navika Kumar of encouraging “a rabid communal hatemonger & a BJP Spokesperson” Nupur Sharma during a debate. It is notable that after Zubair pointed out the comments by Nupur Sharma on Prophet Mohammad during the same debate accusing her of insulting the prophet and Islam, the BJP leader has been receiving death threats. Even bounties also have been announced on her head by Islamist organisations.

Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin demanded strict action against Zubair

Speaking to OpIndia, Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin, Head Badi Sangat, Udasin Akhara, Khairabad of district Sitapur, said, “I am thankful to CM Yogi Adityanath and Sitapur Police for registering FIR against Zubair. I am sure justice will be served.”

Speaking about Mohammed Zubair, he said, “People should not consider him as a common man. He runs a nexus that is funded by Gulf Countries. You might not be aware of the fact that he was after Kamlesh Tiwari Ji, who was later murdered.”

He further alleged Alt News’s alleged fact-checker Zubair is targeting Yati Narsinghanand and other Hinduvadis. He said, “Now he is after National Spokesperson Nupur Sharma. I want to ask why he does not target Maulvis, who keep using derogatory language. Why he is always after Bhagwadharis?”

“He uses his verified Twitter account to target Hinduwadis who talk about their religion. He incites to file FIR against Hinduwadis. Once FIR is registered, he demands their arrest.” Demanding Zubair’s arrest, Mahant said, “I request CM Yogi Adityananth and administration to arrest him and take strict action as per law.”

Mahant Bajrang Muni Udasin has been attacked nine times. In the aftermath of one of the attacks, Mahant lost his ability to walk.

Tamil Nadu: State Health Minister blames ‘North Indian students’ for spreading covid on the campus as VIT reports 74 cases

Amid the ongoing Covid-19 cluster at the Vellore Institue of Technology (VIT) in Kelambakkam, Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian on Wednesday accused the ‘North Indian students’ of spreading the virus in the state of Tamil Nadu. “North Indian students are spreading Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu. Students from Kelambakkam VIT College and Sathyasai college have got affected by Covid in hostels and classes. In some North Indian states, Covid cases are still increasing”, he said.

This is a day after 42 students of the Vellore Institue of Technology (VIT) in Kelambakkam tested positive for the virus. The Institute which has a strength of 5000 students already had reported 33 positive cases as of May 30. According to the reports, the college authorities have been instructed by the Health Department to isolate the students on a separate floor and conduct saturation testing on the campus. Accordingly, samples of 1200 students have been sent for testing.

On May 31, Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Radhakrishnan stated that the government was committed to curbing the spread of the virus. “People with symptoms will first be tested and the students testing positive for the virus will be isolated”, he was quoted.

The menace of Covid-19 has spread across the state of Tamil Nadu with Chennai and Chengalpet together having nearly 88 percent of the cases in the state. Other than VIT, students at Anna University, IIT Madras, and Shri Sathyasai Medical College and Research Institute have also been suffering from the Covid spread since April 2022.

Reports mention that as these institutions, the cluster on the VIT campus started after a batch of students arrived on campus on May 14 from several states. One of the students who had developed flu-like symptoms had tested positive on May 21.

At present, there are 542 active Covid cases in the state. On Tuesday, 98 new Covid cases were reported from the state with Chengalpet and Chennai accounting for the majority of cases, 46 and 44 respectively. A total of 12,356 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours and the death toll in the state stands at 38,025 with no fatality recorded in the last 24 hours.

Gujarat: Ruckus in residence of Bharatsinh Solanki, video of the Congress leader, his wife, and his alleged girlfriend’s scuffle goes viral

Former cabinet minister and senior Gujarat Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki is again embroiled in controversy. While the dispute between Bharatsinh Solanki and his wife Reshma Patel is a known fact, a video of the Congress leader has now gone viral in which Bharatsinh Solanki, his wife Reshma Patel, and another girl are seen. According to the reports, Reshma Patel suddenly entered the house and created a ruckus as a girl was found with Bharatsinh Solanki.

This video of the Congress leader has recently gone viral in the media and social media. The person seen in the video is said to be Bharatsinh Solanki. He was reportedly at his bungalow in Anand when Reshma Patel reached the house. When Resha entered the house, she found that an girl was present in the house. Reshma Patel got into a scuffle with her and created a ruckus. The entire incident was captured on camera. The viral video is said to have been shot by one of the people who came with Reshma Patel. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the person seen in the viral video is Bharatsinh Solanki.

In the video, it is seen that as soon as Reshma Patel opens the door and enters the house, Bharatsinh Solanki comes running and stops Reshma Patel and asks to call the police. However, Reshma Patel and the people accompanying her enter the house and Reshma Patel catches hold of the girl and starts beating her and pulling her hair. However, in the meantime, Bharatsinh Solanki appears to be stopping them.

In the video, ‘You are sitting with my husband… I won’t leave you…’ and more sentences like ‘Take the video of this’ and ‘Show your face’ are heard. Meanwhile, the girl is seen trying to hide her face.

There has been no reaction from Bharatsinh Solanki or the Gujarat Congress on the matter so far. Also, OpIndia can not confirm that the viral video is from Solanki’s house.

There has been a dispute between Bharatsinh Solanki and his wife Reshma Patel for a long time. Earlier both Reshma Patel and Bharatsinh Solanki had also issued public notices to each other. Reshma Patel alleged that she was being tortured as well as expelled from the house. It was also alleged that Bharatsinh Solanki was misbehaving with her and forcing her to divorce by misusing his political position.

In response to Reshma Patel’s notice, Bharatsinh Solanki also issued a notice saying that he has not been living with Reshma Patel for the last four years and that no one should use his name and identity to make financial transactions with his wife, and if anyone does, he (Bharatsinh Solanki) will not be responsible for any loss. After this Reshma Patel complained about the matter to Rahul Gandhi this year. At that time also, the matter was again discussed. She also sought protection from the police saying that she would be pushed out if she went home.

Ex-Amnesty India head tries to paint Gujaratis communal for not voting Congress to power since three decades, here is how he is wrong

Former Amnesty India head Aakar Patel tried to insinuate how Gujarat, which has essentially been a two-party state, has not voted Congress to power since past three decades.

He tweeted that it came third in 1990 and how it has not won any major elections in the state since the demolition of disputed structure at Ram Janmabhoomi.

First things first, it was Congress government in Gujarat when the disputed structure at Ayodhya was demolished on 6th December, 1992. And while BJP’s Keshubhai Patel came to power in March 1995, Shankersinh Vaghela, former BJP leader and now Congress leader, indulged in first of the ‘resort politics’ to topple Keshubhai government. For almost two years from October 1996 to March 1998, Vaghela, through his party Rashtriya Janata Party, formed government in Gujarat with external support of Congress. In fact, he managed to pull off the Khajuraho resort politics, one of the first instances of ‘kidnapping’ supporting MLAs to other states and indulge in ‘negotiations’, with help of Congress leader and the then Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh.

Patel tries to then insinuate that it was the Ram Janmabhoomi movement that established the BJP rule in Gujarat so, so, so strongly that since 1998 Gujarat has only seen the BJP in power. An entire generation has grown up in Gujarat in a non-Congress ruled state. But the generation before it very clearly remembers the divisive politics pioneered by Congress and the appeasement policies which made life of an average Gujarati, irrespective of their faith, difficult.

Why Gujaratis have not elected Congress back to power since 1998

Let me make this clear; no matter which government is in power in Gujarat, the state will not only survive but flourish. It is the people of Gujarat who have contributed to the prosperity of the state, not despite the adversities, but even because of it. It is the survival instincts that have kicked in decades ago due to various natural and political upheavals in the state.

During Congress rule in Gujarat, people often would want to move to Mumbai for better employment prospects and ‘better life’. Fortunes changed in mid-90s. An average working middle class person saw that the taxes they were paying were being used to better their lives. Some were visible, like the roads, the quality of electricity, others were invisible, but apparent, like lack of communal riots, strikes. You see, today when people on Twitter complain about long powercuts, people from Ahmedabad would gloat about how they don’t remember last time they witnessed unplanned outage. Oh, and let me also remind everyone about the robust solar power policy in Gujarat, a step through which the glorious state is showing the way for non-renewable source of energy for the country.

As Gujaratis we are very proud of our heritage. We are proud of the resilience. That every time Mahmood Ghazni invaded and looted Somnath, the temple was constructed right back up. We are proud that the freedom movement had its roots here, so did the Emergency. That a common man from Gujarat not only led India to freedom, a common man from Gujarat also toppled the central government leading to an extremely dynamic political system in India.

The BJP is in power in Gujarat not because “Gujaratis are communal” but because Gujarat witnessed the history where the current Opposition flared violence for ‘minority appeasement’ in the 80s.The first half of the 1980s saw some of the worst inter-caste riots in Gujarat, which quickly escalated to communal riots. Former Gujarat Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki’s father, Madhavsinh Solanki presided over these riots. In fact, he was the one who propagated the divisive caste-based politics in Gujarat – the KHAM theory. KHAM stands for – Kshatriya, Harijan, Adivasi and Muslim, the vote-bank for Congress.

Do we still need a reason why Gujaratis kicked out Congress?

There was rise of crime, including bootlegging and don-wars. Don Latif flourished his bootlegging business, and getting rid of anti-social elements like Latif was the plank BJP used in 1995 which brought them to power.

What about 2002? Well, isn’t the fact that not a single incident of communal violence has broken in the state since February 2002 a testimonial to the fact that peace has by and large prevailed in the state? Congress President Sonia Gandhi once referred to the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi as ‘maut ka saudagar’, while forgetting the fact that it was indeed Congress ruled neighbouring states who refused to help Gujarat which need all the held it could get to bring violence under control.

Ashok Gehlot of Congress was the chief minister of Rajasthan. Digvijaya Singh of Congress, who tries to play divisive caste politics, was the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh. Vilasrao Deshmukh of Congress was the chief minister of Maharashtra was the only one who sent bare minimum personnel to help.

Other than this, the common Gujarati will also never forget how the UPA government at Centre, in its absolute hate for Narendra Modi kept Gujarat parched by sitting on the Sardar Sarovar dam project. Congress government in the neighbouring states of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra felt they were at ‘disadvantage’, not realising that the same Narmada water will bring irrigation and drinking water even to their states along with providing electricity.

Finally, in June 2014, a month after Prime Minister Modi swore in, the final approval came which breathed a new life in the project. At last in June 2017, the project whose foundation was laid in 1961 by then Prime Minister Nehru, was inaugurated by now Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The hate for Gujarat is so deep rooted in the minds of Congress leaders that in 2013, the power ministry in UPA government canceled out felicitation ceremony when they saw 3 out of 4 discoms were from Gujarat.

A generation of first time voters have never seen a non-BJP government in the state. But, they have also seen the development which Congress mocks at every given opportunity. They can read through the lies because they no longer rely on propagandists masquerading as journalists to get their news. Social media is a dynamic medium. This is the most exciting time to be politically aware and participate in nation building.

And try not to lose one’s mind like Aakar Patel, who spends his free time these days collecting Modi dolls and occasionally screaming at them and reprimanding them in what appears like desperate cries for help.

German woman sexually attracted to planes wants to marry Boeing replica which she says ‘completes her’, was earlier in love with a train

A 23-year-old woman from Germany has confessed before the world about her unusual yet ‘serious relationship’ with her toy aeroplane. Sarah Rodo, from Dortmund in Germany, identifies herself as ‘objectum sexual’, which refers to the sexual attraction towards inanimate objects. Rodo is attracted to planes and wants to marry Boeing’s replica that she says ‘completes her’.

Sarah Rodo has found her ‘boyfriend’ in her toy plane which she has named Dicki. She says she has dated men in the past but it is Dicki who has made her feel complete. Rodo said been attracted to objects since she was a teenager. At the age of 14, she realised she was in love with ICE 3, which is an express train.

Talking about her unusual love for objects, she said, “I noticed that I wasn’t attracted to people when I didn’t want to cuddle or become intimate with them, unlike my objects where I crave cuddles and being intimate. It’s the best sex I’ve ever had!” she notes. “I’ve had two relationships with men because I just wasn’t sure what my real sexuality was, but I soon realised that I can’t feel these romantic things for people,” Rodo said.

Sarah Rodo described her sexuality as ‘objectophilia’ and said she stands by it. Talking about Dicki, she said it is a miniature of a Boeing 737 which she has fallen in love with. Reportedly, Rodo has a selection of model aeroplanes based on the same model that she sleeps with. “Dicki takes up almost my entire bed. I love everything about him, but particularly his face, wings and engine. They’re so sexy to me.”

Out of her love for planes, Rodo takes air journeys and feels incredibly happy while doing so. “I also fly very often so that I can simply feel and hear him. When I’m with my Boeing 737, I’m over the moon I love him so incredibly much. I just feel safe with him and want to spend all my time with him,” she states why she loves travelling by aeroplanes so much. Every time while stepping out of the house, Rodo takes a small model of her toy plane with her given her obsession with the object.

Talking about the amusement people have after listening to her story, Sarah Rodo said that most people cannot understand her love but a few of her friends have encouraged her after she came out. Rodo plans to marry her Boeing 373 toy (boyfriend) one day but fears something like this would not be encouraged in Germany.

Sarah Rodo is not alone

It seems Rodo is not alone in her unusual love for aeroplane toys. 28-year-old Sandra from Budapest has confessed bout her love for her toy jet – which she says is her ‘best partner she’s ever had’. Sandra, who works in the aviation industry loves to surround herself with planes. After a separation from her boyfriend in 2021, she dived into a full-blown relationship with her toy aeroplane worth 600 pounds which she calls ‘Luffancs’.

The New Indian Express uses the term ‘racial purity’ to make false claims about research on genetic ancestry, Rahul Gandhi furthers the propaganda

The New Indian Express (TNIE) had recently published a report which claimed that the Central Cultural Ministry is going to study ‘Racial Purity of Indians’. It talked about the Ministry of Culture looking forward to acquiring state-of-the-art DNA profiling kits and machines to trace the genetic history and ‘trace the purity of races in India’.

The ‘Purity of Races’ angle in the article comes from the quote of Prof. Vasant Shinde, who serves as the adjunct professor at the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bengaluru. Shinde notes that his team wants to study the mutation and mixing of genes that has happened in the last 10,000 years. While genetic mutation talks about the interaction of Indians with other populations of the world, studying the same will give us a clear-cut idea of our genetic history.

In the TNIE article, the news of the investigation to trace the genetic history of the Indian population was conflated with researchers studying the ‘purity’ of races in India. While the concept of ‘race’ remains purely a social concept and has no biological basis, purity here meant tracing the origins of DNA haplogroups among the Indian population. The deliberate contestation of the two led quite a stir among readers who were perplexed at the unscientific claims of the article. Soon, The Ministry of culture categorically dismissed the article as ‘misleading’.

However, it was for Congress MLA Rahul Gandhi to quote the report that was already labelled ‘factually incorrect’ and to go on indirectly connect the dots with Hitler’s racist policies in Nazi Germany. While tracing genetic ancestry had nothing to do with ‘racial purity’, Rahul Gandhi saw an opportunity to tag the article and score a political goal. By tagging the misleading piece from TNIE – which could have sentimental repercussions and fan polarization in the society, Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “The last time a country had a culture ministry studying ‘racial purity’, it didn’t end well. India wants job security & economic prosperity, not ‘racial purity’, Prime Minister.”

The Ministry of Culture has dismissed the misleading report by TNIE

The Culture Ministry took note of the article in Morning Standard edition of TNIE on 28th May and termed it as ‘misleading, mischievous and contrary to facts’. “The proposal is not related to establishing genetic history and “trace the purity of races in India” as alluded to in the article”, it said. The statement noted that while the proposal by the Anthropological Survey of India (AnSI) is being examined under merits, it only deals with upgrading the existing DNA lab in Kolkata to next-generation sequencing facilities for certain ongoing projects.

Even after the Ministry of Culture dismissed the report for being factually incorrect, Rahul Gandhi went on to sensationalise the fake news to capitalise on the charged sentiment against the alleged research on ‘racial purity’. Central Minister for Culture, G Kishan Reddy lashed out at Gandhi in a tweet saying, “Prior to Shri Gandhi’s tweet (probably from somewhere abroad), the Ministry of Culture, GoI had already flagged this article as ‘misleading’. Is he oblivious to this or has he intentionally chosen to further propagate such fake news?”

What the Experts Say

Noted Genetic Scientist Neeraj Rai has lashed out at The New Indian Express for deliberatively publishing a misleading article. Describing the article as ‘mischievous’, he said he is upset about his research being described as studying “racial purity”. DNA research has great potential for improving our understanding of human health and history and should not be used to support discriminatory ideas, he added.

Rai, who heads the ancient DNA Lab at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences, Govt. of India, criticised Rahul Gandhi for his blatant attempt at politicising a scientific investigation. He wrote tagging Rahul Gandhi, “Racial purity is not a thing and race is not a biologically supported context. It has been a tool for politicians to propagate racism and should not be conflated with genetic ancestry.”

Author and economist Sanjeev Sanyal, who has written several books on Indian history and geography, has noted that this is a classic case of deliberately misleading a scientific study. “Archaeo-genetics is a well-established field and attempts to trace the human journey. If anything it establishes that there is no such thing as “pure race”. Indeed, we are not even a “pure” species,” he wrote.

Author and Scientist Anand Ranganathan, who teaches molecular biology at the Jawaharlal Nehru University asserted that Race is not a biological concept but a social one. “Race is not a scientific concept, purity even less so. Not only are 8 Billion Humans 99.97% genetically identical, but the modern Human genome is also but a mishmash of primate, plant, bacterial, parasite, and viral DNA.” he tweeted.

While the claims of the article and its purposeful politicization by Rahul Gandhi were criticised left, right and centre, this is not the only instance where a scientific study related to genetics was politicised. The ‘Aryan Invasion Theory’, which was used by Dravidian Politicians and leftist historians for decades to claim that the ‘race’ of Aryans invaded/migrated to India between 2000 BCE and 1500 BCE, was debunked after new research proved that all claims of “invasion” by a ‘white-skinned Aryan race’ have been without any scientific basis. DNA studies have established that not only do all people in the Indian subcontinent share a common ancestry, there have been migrations ‘outwards’ from India, hinting at widespread trade and related migration.

Gujarat: 13-year-old boy beaten, sodomised by two clerics at Madani Madarsa in Ahmedabad, POCSO case registered

A case of sexual harassment of a 13-year-old minor boy by two clerics at Madani Madarsa in the Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad has come to light. The child is under treatment at the nearby Shardaben Hospital. Police have registered a complaint under the POCSO Act and started investigating after the family lodged a police complaint.

According to exclusive information received by OpIndia through a reliable source, a daily wager, who lives in Gomtipur had sent the eldest of his six children, who is 13-year-old, to the Madani Madarsa in Bapunagar near him on 29th May 2022 for religious study during the summer vacation. On 30th May 2022, the parents were shocked when the child came home and told them about the inhuman act done to him by two clerics in the madarsa.

According to the child, he was also beaten up. He was taken to the nearby Shardaben Hospital for treatment as there were marks of beating on his body and injuries in the anal parts due to brutal sodomisation by the two clerics in the madarsa.

The father of the child informed that the eldest of his 6 children, aged 13 years, was studying in 7th standard in the government school no. 2. As the summer vacation was currently going on in the school, he had decided to send his son to a madarsa to study Islam as per the customs of his religion. On the morning of May 29, they took the child to the Madina Madarsa at Sundaramnagar in Bapunagar to inquire about the same, and finally, on the same day, the child was admitted there.

He further told that the next day, that is, on May 30, when he came home from work around 3 am, he saw that his son was home and resting. In the morning, when he asked his son why he had returned home, the son narrated the inhuman incident that had happened to him. The son said that on the 29th when the family left him at the madarsa, everything went well till the evening. But around 10 pm, the chief cleric of Madani Madrassa and another cleric approached him. The chief cleric, for no reason, hit him severely with a wooden stick on the back of his right ankle seven times and the other cleric held his left hand and gave him an injection on the side of the shoulder. The boy fell unconscious 5 minutes after the injection.

The child further told his father that when he regained consciousness after 30-35 minutes, he was having severe pain in the anus. So he was scared and escaped from the madarsa. While escaping, 3 people from the madrasa followed the boy to catch him. To avoid them, he hid in a hotel near Rajendra Park. After hiding there for a while, he took a lift on a bike leaving from the hotel and reached his house.

The victim’s father said in a complaint to the Bapunagar police station, “The chief maulvi at Madani Madarsa, Sunderamnagar, Bapunagar, and another maulvi committed an unnatural sexual act with my son after hitting him seven times on the ankle of his right leg with a wooden rod, injecting some substance near his left shoulder, making him unconscious.” The victim’s father further said that the child does not know the name of the other cleric but will definitely be able to identify him by looking at the photo.

This is not the first time that a maulana of a madarsa has been accused of sexually exploiting minor children. There have been several such cases before. It was only in 2020 that the Bhuj court rejected for the second time the bail application of Maulana Shamsuddin Haji Suleman Jat of a madarsa in Nakhtrana’s Dhoro village, who raped a 14-year-old girl several times from 2015 to 2019. In January 2022, Maulana Jamal Ahmed, aged 52, of a madarsa in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district, raped an 8-year-old girl after which he was arrested.

In Addition, in May 2022, a POCSO court had sentenced Abdul Rahman, a cleric from Kota, Rajasthan, to life imprisonment for raping a 6-year-old.

The 13-year-old minor is still in Shardaben Hospital and his conditions are improving. The Bapunagar police have currently registered a complaint under POCSO and started their investigation.

“Is it true”: Smriti Irani lashes out at Arvind Kejriwal for giving clean chit to money laundering accused Satyendra Jain, asks 10 questions

On June 1, Union Minister Smriti Irani lashed out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for giving clean chit to Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Minister Satyendra Jain. The Delhi health minister was arrested by ED on May 30 in a money laundering case connected to the hawala transactions by a Kolkata-based company. Addressing a press conference, Smriti Irani tabled ten questions for Kejriwal regarding the matter. Irani said, “Yesterday, Arvind Kejriwal gave clean-chit to Satyendra Jain. While posing as a judge, he acquitted Jain in a public court.”

She questioned, “Can Arvind Kejriwal deny the fact that Satyendra Jain did money laundering worth Rs 16 crores 39 lakh using 56 Shell Companies with support of his family members and hawala operators?”

In the second question, she asked Kejriwal, “Is it true that Satyendra Jain has admitted to indulging in money laundering activities worth Rs 16 crores 39 lakh under Income Disclosure Scheme, 2016 via Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain?”

She further asked, “Is it true that Principal Commissioner of Income Tax rejected the claims that Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain owned the money and said it was owned by Satyendra Jain?”

In the fourth question, she asked, “Is it true that Division Bench of Delhi High Court said in its order dated August 8, 2019, confirmed that Satyendra Jain did money laundering of Rs 16 crores 39 lakh?” She added if Kejriwal did not have a copy of the said order, BJP workers would send a copy with due respect.

She questioned, “Is it true that Satyendra Jain is the owner of Shell Companies?” The names of the companies, as stated by Irani, are Akinchan Developers Pvt Ltd, Indo Metal Impex Pvt Ltd, Paryas Infosolutions Pvt Ltd and Manglayatan Projects Pvt Ltd. She said Jain operates these companies with his wife. “Satyendra Jain and his wife have majority shareholding in one more company named JJ Ideal Estate Pvt Ltd,” she added.

In the next question, she asked, “Is it true that 200 Bigha land came under the ownership of Satyendra Jain in different areas of Delhi that had unauthorized colonies using the money he had laundered?”

In the seventh question, she asked, “Is it true that the department that is under Satyendra Jain vouched for authorizing the colonies near which the 200 Bigha land was located?”

She further asked, “Is it true that Satyendra Jain is the prime accused in the charge sheet under the Prevention of Corruption Act?”

In the ninth question, she asked, “Is it true Satyendra Jain’s companies offered the Income Tax department to impose a tax on the illegitimate income worth 16 crores 39 lakh that belonged to Satyendra Jain?

In the last question, she asked, “Should a person like Satyendra Jain, who admitted to doing money laundering, remain a minister in the AAP-led Delhi government?”

Irani said Kejriwal had claimed in May 31 press conference that corruption means sedition. “Is Kejriwal supporting a traitor?” she questioned.

Kejriwal gave clean-chit to Jain

On May 31, Cm Kejriwal said in a press conference that he had examined the case against Jain and called if ‘fake’. He said, “I have studied the case against Jain. It is completely fake and motivated by political reasons. We have faith in the judiciary. Jain is following the path of truth, and he will come out clean.”

Satyendra Jain sent to ED custody

In an alleged money laundering case, a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court has ordered Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain to be held in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) till June 9th. Satyendar Jain, the Delhi Health Minister and a prominent Aam Aadmi Party leader, was arrested on Monday, May 30 in connection with a money laundering case involving a Kolkata-based firm and hawala transactions. Following his arrest on Monday, Satyendra Jain was brought before the court on Tuesday.

On August 25, 2017, the CBI filed an FIR against Satyendar Jain in a money laundering case. Based on this FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the ED initiated a criminal case against the AAP leader, alleging that Jain could not clarify the source of cash received by four firms in which he was a stakeholder. From 2010 to 2014, the firms allegedly laundered Rs 16.39 crores in funds.

Tamil Nadu: BJP chief K Annamalai, 5000 others booked by police for protests demanding cut in fuel prices as per DMK’s poll promise

On Wednesday, the Tamil Nadu Police registered a case against BJP state chief K Annamalai, former National Secretary H Raja, and over 5,000 people for protesting and marching towards the state Secretariat in Chennai demanding to reduce petrol and diesel prices. The Police stated that the BJP leader had violated the law by organizing the protest on fuel prices without permission.

According to the reports, BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit had staged a massive protest at St. George Fort in Chennai on May 31 demanding the DMK-led government to honour its poll promise by effecting a cut in the prices of petrol by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 4 litre as well as subsidize cooking gas cylinders. The protest that was joined by thousands was led by BJP state chief K Annamalai.

“DMK government had promised in their manifesto that they would reduce the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 4 respectively. PM Modi has reduced fuel prices twice. We demand the state govt to fulfill what it has promised in its manifesto”, Annamalai said during the protest march from the venue in Egmore to the state Secretariat.

Pertinently, the BJP Chief had criticized the state for not fulfilling the poll vows. He also had criticized Tamil Nadu Finance Minister for his remarks against the Central government. On May 22, after the Centre slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister P Thiaga Rajan accused the Centre of ‘exhorting states to cut taxes’. “Centre didn’t ask before hiking fuel prices; why to exhort states to cut VAT now”, he had said on Twitter.

Responding to these remarks, Annamalai said, “Did the finance minister of Tamil Nadu discuss with the Central government before releasing the election manifesto, in which they promised to cut the fuel and gas prices. After 2014, Tamil Nadu has increased VAT by Rs 7 per litre thus earning Rs 19,000 crore. Though they promised to reduce the petrol price by Rs 5 it was only cut by Rs 3 and kept the price of diesel unchanged.”

Taking to Twitter on May 31, the leader also stated that if the DMK government continues anti-people approach, the BJP members will go on a one day satyagraha across all the districts of Tamil Nadu. “Cadres across Tamil Nadu will assemble in Trichy in large numbers post our Satyagraha for a demonstration against the DMK Govt! That will surely mark the beginning of the end of DMK rule for TN!”, he tweeted.

The case has been registered in the Egmore Police station under 3 sections including illegal crowd gathering and stopping government officials from doing their duty.

ED summons Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over National Herald case

The Enforcement Directorate has summoned interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi in connection with a money laundering case related to National Herald.

The summons has elicited sharp reactions from the Congress party, which has alleged that the case was closed by the investigating agency in 2015. “The BJP is using puppet agencies to intimidate political opponents. National Heral has a history that goes back to independence days,” Congress leader and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.

“In 2015, the ED closed the National Herald case. But the govt didn’t like it and it removed the ED officials concerned, brought in new officials and reopened the case. This is to divert attention from inflation and other raging problems,” Singhvi added.

Earlier in April 2022, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had questioned senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge in connection with the money laundering probe linked to the National Herald case.

It is pertinent to note here that in 2020, the Enforcement Directorate had attached one of the most prime properties in Mumbai’s Bandra under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The said property, with market value to the tune of hundreds of crores of rupees, was illegally allotted to Associated Journals Limited (AJL).

The Bandra plot came under the spotlight after Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were dragged to court in Delhi after Subramaniam Swamy filed a case accusing them of misappropriating the National Herald’s properties. The aforesaid property in Bandra was provided to National Herald in 1983 at concessional rates to publish the newspaper.

Similarly, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had earlier in December 2018 attached property worth Rs 30 crores in Mohali allotted by former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in the case of Associated Journals & National Herald Case. The Supreme Court in 2918 upheld the Income Tax Department’s decision to re-open their tax assessment for the financial year 2011-2012 in connection with the National Herald Case.

National Herald Scam

The National Herald scam is one of the most notable legal cases in Indian history, as the Gandhis are directly accused. The Mother-Son duo of Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia, along with their aides – Oscar Fernandez, Motilal Vohra and Sam Pithroda are alleged to have been involved in massive ‘cheating and breach of trust’ in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) by Young Indian Pvt Ltd (YIL). Assets worth crores of rupees had been allegedly transferred for purposes other than originally intended for a paltry sum. Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi got unconditional bail in December 2015.
