SP delegation tries to exploit murder of minor girl in Ghazipur: People protest, refuse to allow the leaders into the village, former minister Ram Asre Vishwakarma wounded in confrontation

The events that happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur on 22nd April (Wednesday) should not be dismissed as a simple incident. The manner in which leaders of the Samajwadi Party (SP) became active in the charged environment following the tragic death of a minor girl and the subsequent developments serves as a notable political indicator.

An SP delegation attempted to visit the grieving family, but they were met by villagers at the outskirts of the area. A confrontation broke out, which escalated into stone-throwing. During this conflict, former Minister Ram Asre Vishwakarma suffered a serious head injury and the villagers eventually succeeded in preventing the leaders from entering the hamlet.

It was not just an eruption of collective anger but rather represented a response to a political approach that has been consistently shaped by caste considerations. The significant distinction this time was that the populace not only acknowledged this political maneuvering but also delivered a retaliation, specifically tailored for such a circumstance, and completely unforeseen by anyone.

The attempt to politicise the tragedy backfire

The 16-year-old girl who passed away in Ghazipur was a member of the Vishwakarma community, whereas the accused identified as Pandey belongs to the Brahmin community. The rapid political reaction that followed the revelation of the details has prompted numerous inquiries. Offering condolences and seeking justice are expected but the inclination to interpret these instances immediately through a caste perspective inevitably raises doubts about the underlying motives.

The approach taken by SP officials upon their arrival in the village strengthened the doubt that their intention was not solely to convey condolences, but also to concoct a particular narrative. Consequently, the fury of the residents escalated and in the subsequent outburst, Vishwakarma who is also from the victim’s community found himself subjected to their ire.

The continuous plot of constructing caste-centric propaganda

Socialist political movements have historically been criticised for trying to gain political advantage by interpreting occurrences via a caste-oriented lens. This pattern was evident in the Ghazipur incident as well. The circulation of false information on social media, the promotion of unverified accusations like allegations of gang rape and efforts to provoke discord between two communities seemed to be components of a conspiracy that has been observed repeatedly in history.

The administration clarified that multiple claims were factually inaccurate, however, in spite of this, they continued to be disseminated. This communicated that more significance is being given to a special narrative, one that has the potential to generate political benefits than to the truth itself.

From Fatehpur to Badaun: A pattern of infusing a casteist and communal colour into every incident

Even if the incident in Ghazipur is regarded as an isolated matter, the recent developments in Fatehpur and Badaun help to further elucidate this narrative. Take, for example, the recent issue involving Aryan Yadav in Fatehpur, where a mundane situation was initially given a political interpretation, depicted as “punishment for serving tea” and later, attempts were made to turn it into a massive controversy.

A routine food safety enforcement action was characterised as an act of political retribution. Thereafter, a local disagreement was also transformed into a skewed narrative. As the matter progressed, visible resentment arose within the Muslim community with individuals asserting that the issue had been politicised without their submission being thoroughly acknowledged. In other words, the political tactic that the SP was using to maintain balance inadvertently placed the party in a difficult situation concerning its supposed vote bank.

A similar event surfaced last month, referred to as the Badaun double murder case. What was fundamentally a personal vendetta was tried to be showcased through the lens of caste supremacy and a “Thakur versus Others” narrative. The reality, however, was that immediate action was taken in this case and police encounters were conducted, bulldozers were deployed and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed. However, a narrative was shaped to suggest that the incident was an act of hooliganism by a specific caste.

Now, the question is that if every incident is consistently portrayed as a caste-based conflict in this manner, will it promote trust within society, or will it simply deepen the existing divisions? These two instances from Fatehpur and Badaun demonstrate that the political strategies of the SP and its leadership continue to portray events as caste conflicts, instead of analysing them in an objective and just way.

When the public saw through the intentions

If these two incidents are concerned in relation to the case in Ghazipur, the reaction of the villagers stands out as the most critical aspect of the entire sequence of events. They prevented the SP delegation from entering the village, leading to an argument. This reaction was not spontaneous. It was the outcome of a lived experience in which people have often witnessed how incidents are politically twisted.

It was unmistakably evident to the populace that the politicians who had reached there were not present to contribute to a resolution, but instead to exacerbate the dispute. This is exactly the reason they declined to welcome them. This was not just a simple act of dissent, but a definitive statement that such political ventures would no longer be accepted. This change indicates that society is growing more conscious and it is no longer offering support merely based on identity but is also examining the genuine intentions of those who pretedn to be the sympathisers or well-wishers.

The public has also disclosed whom it trusts

The Ghazipur incident demonstrated who has earned the public’s trust. People are confident that the authorities will operate in accordance with due process and that the offender will face consequences, irrespective of their caste or religion. This trust is evident throughout the entire series of events. The public has recognised that political intervention is unnecessary for obtaining justice. In fact, they have firmly dismissed any attempts that seemed to seek to sway the same. Such trust represents the most imoprtant asset for any government.

A warning for the SP

For the Samajwadi Party (SP), this occurrence should be regarded as a significant warning. This is not simply a localised response, but a part of a larger sentiment that has been developing over time. When a political party cultivates a reputation for perceiving every event solely as a political opportunity, it is only to be expected that public trust will collapse. Akhilesh Yadav must pay attention to this indication. The circumstances will not improve through mere rhetoric or a cycle of attacks or counter attacks. Similar events will persist in this manner in the future without a change in political approach.

Outdated political paradigms are ineffective in a transforming society

The Ghazipur incident illustrates that society is not only evolving, but its political expectations are also shifting. Relying exclusively on caste dynamics for political maneuvering is becoming less effective with time. Individuals are now more alert, they pose more inquiries and most crucially, they are unafraid to express their opinions. This incident conveys a strong message that the people are no longer just an observer. They watch, they review and when required they take to the streets in protest. As a result, for those political parties that do not recognise the importance of this change, the future will be challenging.

Legal advocacy group APCR, which peddled false Muslim-victimhood narrative, attempts to give clean chit to Muslim men who forced TCS Nashik Hindu employees to convert to Islam

A ‘fact-finding’ report released by the controversial ‘civil rights’ organisation, the Association for the Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) at the Mumbai Press Club on Thursday (23rd April), has claimed that there is no evidence to support the allegations of an organised religious conversion activity in the Nashik’s Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) workplace harassment case. The Nashik TCS workplace harassment case sent shockwaves across the country after victims shared stories of sexual harassment and religious coercion by some Muslim employees at the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) facility.

The report is claimed to have been compiled after a five-member team of the APCR visited Nashik to collect the ground details of the case. Activists from People’s Union for Civil Liberty (PUCL), Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP), Bombay Catholic Sabha (BCS) and others joined APCR during the release of its report.

As per reports, the APCR findings claim that the police officials have indicated that the allegations levelled in the 9 FIRs filed in connection with the case differ among complainants. While the police investigation into the TCS Nashik workplace harassment case is underway, the APCR report has rejected the complaints of the victims, which highlighted the Love Jihad angle and religious coercion in the case.

The APCR tries to whitewash the crime and peddle Muslim victimhood in the garb of the ‘fact-finding’ report

As per the claims made by the report, the investigation agencies in the TCS Nashik case have not confirmed any organised conspiracy for religious conversion. The report also laments that the religion coercion angle has been made a central theme in the case, while according to APCR’s teams’ findings, no conclusive evidence exists to prove the existence of any organised or systematic activity of religious conversion.

APCR’s national secretary, Nadeem Khan, who was booked by the Delhi Police in November 2024 for hatching a criminal conspiracy and promoting enmity and unrest during a communally charged exhibition in Delhi, claimed during the release of the APCR report that the civil society organisations did not trust the investigation being conducted by the Nashik police in the case. He demanded an investigation into the case conducted by a retired high court or supreme court judge.

Casting aspersions on the victims’ testimonies, Khan, who has a history of instigating communal feelings, termed the case a conspiracy to prevent Muslims from working in corporate jobs. “The issue will be used to prevent Muslims from securing employment at corporate workplaces. It is difficult to believe that someone can be forced to observe roza for 24 hours. The FIRs filed by the police raise multiple doubts, and their role has become questionable,” Khan said.

Khan also raised suspicion over the undercover operation by the Nashik police, which uncovered the entire case, questioning how the undercover cops could not ascertain the job profile of the accused Nida Khan even after spending three weeks at the BPO. Notably, the TCS has recently released an official statement, clarifying that Nida Khan is not an HR Manager at the BPO as stated in several media reports, but holds the post of a process associate. Pertinently, the role of a process associate falls within the larger HR framework. Besides, the fact that the job profile of Nida Khan was not accurately mentioned in the media reports does not take away from the fact that she did work at the BPO office and that she has been named as an accused in the FIRs.

Controversial activist Teesta Setalvad also termed the case “manufactured.” “The Nashik case is a manufactured case that will not hold in a court of law. The process is the punishment. A crime should never be seen through the lens of religion or caste. It is important to note that Nida Khan is being targeted because of her gender,” said secretary of Citizens for Justice and Peace, Teesta Setalvad.

Joining Khan’s claims, former journalist and a Nashik-based activist, Niranjan Takle, alleged that the first complaint in the TCS Nashik case was made by a person who was an employee at the BPO and was not a victim. He demanded that narco tests should be conducted on the victims and the accused to find out the truth. “The allegations in most of these FIRs are vague and can not be proven. The truth will come out only when the complainants and the accused will be made to undergo narco tests,” Takle said. Controversial ‘activist’ and CJP’s secretary, Teesta Setalvad, said that workplace sexual harassment cases formed the least number of total 12,019 complaints reported by the Maharashtra.

The so-called activists present at the release of the APCR report dismissed the entire case as a ploy to cover the sexual exploitation involving the Nashik astrologer Ashok Kharat. They also alleged that the Nashik TCS case was also a ruse to avoid public scrutiny of alleged tree-cutting by the Nashik civic body for the Simhastha Kumbh Mela and another alleged housing-related scam.

Horrifying details of sexual harassment and religious coercion revealed by victims in multiple FIRs filed in the case

The claims made by the APCR report fall flat on a mere perusal of the details divulged by the victims relating to sexual harassment and religious coercion in the multiple FIRs filed in the Nashik TCS workplace harassment case. The first FIR in the TCS grooming jihad case was registered on 23rd March at the Deolali Camp Police Station in Nashik.

Following the registration of the FIR, some women cops went undercover in the company to investigate the matter. The undercover operation exposed stories of victims who were subjected to sustained sexual harassment, vulgar innuendos, physical advances, invasive questions, and derogatory commentary against Hindu deities at the BPO for years. This led to multiple victims coming forward and filing FIRs against the accused.

As per the complaints made by the victims, six Muslim employees working as team leaders and two women, including a Muslim, were forcing Hindu women to convert to Islam, offer namaz and eat beef. The Islamist horror against Hindu women at the TCS BPO office in Nashik continued for over four years.

In an FIR dated April 3, 2026, the 23-year-old Hindu victim stated that Raza Meman and Shahrukh Qureshi made sexually coloured remarks against her and mocked Hindu customs. In another FIR registered on April 2, 2026, filed by another 23-year-old Hindu woman, she named five accused and revealed how she was sexually harassed and made to bear religious insults. The victim, who had recently married, said that Shahrukh Qureshi and Raza Meman repeatedly questioned her about her honeymoon, sexual life, and past relationships in an intrusive and inappropriate manner. She said that Asif Ansari made derogatory comments about Hindu practices, including statements suggesting that sexual violence occurs in Hindu communities because women do not wear burqas, along with remarks mocking Hindu deities.

Another FIR stated that the Muslim accused mocked Hindu deities Brahma, Ram and Sita. The accused called Brahma a rapist of his own daughter and claimed that Ram and Sita ate meat during their exile. The Muslim accused derisively mocked the existence of Lord Shiva, and cast aspersions on the father of Lord Ganesha, the Elephant-headed Hindu God.

The victims in their complaints stated how their repeated complaints about the misconduct of the accused, including consistent mocking of Hindu religious beliefs, went unnoticed. The victims’ testimonies demonstrate how the accused took advantage of the workplace power to suppress the complaints relating to the sexual harassment, exploitation, and religious brainwashing to ultimately convert them to Islam. The APCR report conveniently overlooks the details revealed by the victims in their complaints and bases its so-called fact-finding report on a selected and distorted version of facts.

APCR’s tainted track record of peddling Muslim victimhood

The APCR, closely associated with Prashant Bhushan and his Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), presents itself as a non-profit working to “bridge the gap between law and justice”, but its track record tells a different story. Constituted in 2006 and registered under the Societies Registration Act, the organisation claims to offer free legal aid, financial assistance and legal literacy programmes through workshops and seminars.

The organisation has repeatedly appeared in controversial cases, often extending legal aid to individuals accused in violent incidents such as the Sambhal violence and the anti-Hindu Delhi riots. Its so-called “fact-finding reports” read less like neutral documentation and more like one-sided propaganda designed to shield certain groups while vilifying others.

The current ‘fact-finding’ report of the APCR is not the only time the organisation has attempted to peddle a manufactured ‘Muslim victimhood’ narrative. In July 2024, the organisation released a report claiming that incidents of anti-Muslim crimes have increased in India following the Lok Sabha Election results, in which the Modi government retained power. The report was used by several media houses, including Free Press Journal, Clarion, Muslim Mirror and others to make similar claims. The APCR is notorious for cherry-picking and selective reporting, which indicates how the organisation has been trying to create a communal rift in the country and projecting a bad image of India on international platforms. The baseless claims made by the APCR were debunked by OpIndia in our report.

Highest voter turnout marks assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal: The possible reasons for the unprecedented numbers and who stands to benefit from it

The election season has captivated India, as the legislative assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, along with the bye-polls for 8 assembly constituencies in Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland and Tripura, are taking place in April, with the outcome scheduled for the 4th of May (Monday).

This election, like all others, is accompanied by its share of controversies, debates, allegations and protests. However, it is also distinguished by another significant factor that has drawn attention, which is the unprecedented voter turnout, specifically in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. The Election Commission of India also lauded the two states for “the highest-ever poll participation since Independence” and “saluted every voter” for the same. It was referred to as a landmark moment in India’s democratic progress.

Notably, the development took place after the critical Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, which sought to prioritise authentic voters and eliminate illegitimate names, including deceased, migrated or fabricated entries, from the list to fortify the democratic process.

A record voter turnout: A steady element from West Bengal to Puducherry

On 23rd April (Thursday), voting in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal started at 7:00 am with improved voter facilitation and extensive surveillance. Tamil Nadu had an excellent overall voter engagement of 84.69% until 5:00 pm. This exceeded its previous peak of 78.29%, which was attained at the assembly elections in 2011.

The gender-wise engagement is even more impressive. The participation was higher among women (85.76%) as compared to men (83.57%). This was in line with the state’s trend of growing female voter turnout and demonstrated a considerable spike over prior elections.

Voter turnout in the state has historically wavered from the early decades following independence. Moderate attendance was observed throughout the 1950s and 1960s. However, there was a surge starting in the late 20th century. Nonetheless, the 2026 numbers reflected a substantial boost that put the state at its highest level of democratic involvement ever.

On the other hand, West Bengal’s Phase-I polling registered an exceedingly exceptional turnout of 91.78% by 5:00 pm, surpassing its previous breakthrough of 84.72%, which was reached in 2011. Females again took the lead at 92.69% as male voters stood at 90.92%. This pointed to a widespread trend of high female voter turnout.

West Bengal already displayed staggering voting figures, counted frequently among the greatest in the nation. However, the magnitude of this turnout is especially noteworthy. The state gradually rose to overtake 80% in the 1980s and 1990s from levels in the mid-50% range in the early post-Independence years. This was constantly maintained in the following polls.

Thus, Phase-I turnout illustrated both continuity and a sharp boost in voter mobilisation and fervour. The concluding Phase-II is going to be held on 29th April (Wednesday) and considering the precedent, it is also expected to establish new benchmarks.

The voter turnout for the assembly elections in Assam, Kerala and the Union Territory of Puducherry similarly registered outstanding statistics on 9th April. Assam scored 85.38% turnout while Puducherry was at 89.83%, delivering the highest numbers. The best poll participation rates touched by Assam and Puducherry in the past were 84.67% and 86.19%, respectively, in the 2016 and 2011 assembly elections.

According to the Election Commission, 78.03% cast their votes in Kerala as compared to 77.35% in 2016 and 74.06% in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. This represented the third-highest voter turnout in the state’s history. The three regions also boosted the greatest female voter turnout with 85.96% in Assam, 80.86% in Kerala and 91.33% in Puducherry.

What brought about the unparalleled totals

The stunning boom can be attributed to several reasons, ranging from the enthusiasm of the populace to be a part of the democratic process, the monumental SIR initiative designed to cleanse the electoral rolls across the country, alongside fear and intimidation from the politicians and even an attempt to defend their illegal presence in India.

A phenomenon recently came to light in which multiple videos with women discussing the abrupt absence of house helps in Gurgaon and Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) were posted online. OpIndia spoke with the latter, and the first clear pattern was that the majority were from West Bengal. In fact, the unique accent of some suggested that they were likely Bengalis from Bangladesh. The second clear trend was that Bengali Muslims made up the vast bulk of these maids escaping Gurgaon.

Moreover, it was revealed that they were receiving calls from local All India Trinamool Congress (AITC or TMC) party leaders who were pushing them to show up for the ongoing polls. A woman quoted her area’s TMC worker who stated, “Voting this time is important, even if you can’t vote next time. You have to come.”

They were blackmailed that their land would be occupied and their homes destroyed if the party is not elected to power. The TMC representatives even threatened that they would be transported to the Bangladesh border and either shot or pushed into the country if Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) assumed control of the state.

“I don’t know why they are so desperate this time. They are scaring us and forcing us to return. They are saying if they win, they will not let the National Register of Citizens (NRC) happen. If the BJP comes to power, NRC will take place and we will all be killed,” a woman voiced. OpIndia also interviewed several Hindu domestic workers who were also departing, albeit in smaller numbers.

They highlighted, “This is our last chance to save Bengal. See how the Muslims are going in thousands to vote for TMC. We have to go too. If they come back, we will never be able to go back. Do you know what they did to us in Sandeshkhali? Do you know how they treat us. Bengal will become Bangladesh, that is what they want. This is why these Muslims are going to vote.”

The evident desperation of the TMC, which might have sensed a brewing wave against their corrupt and anti-Hindu government, likely contributed to the hike in voter turnout. However, there is a different side of this story that contends that Muslims were already voting en masse for the TMC and the growth is categorically ascribed to Hindus backing the saffron party. There was no serious jump in polling percentages after 5:30 pm, leading up to the final turnout statistics as opposed to 2024 and 2021.

Indians fly home to vote

Indian voters from abroad and other states rushed to their native regions to utilise their Constitutional right in an exemplary manner. Tamils from Singapore, Malaysia and the Gulf states headed to the central region of Tamil Nadu, which includes Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Ariyalur and Peramblur. Flights from Kuala Lumpur had been fully booked for the last few days.

The Gulf, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Sharjah, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Muscat employ lakhs of Tamils. There are roughly 12 daily flights to these locations from airlines like Air India Express, Scoot Air, Indigo Air and Sri Lankan Air. Many non-resident Indian families also landed from other countries such as Australia and the United Kingdom.

A video of an Indigo Flight captain asking passengers journeying from Singapore to Tiruchirappalli how many were going to vote went viral because nearly all of them raised their hands.

On 21st (Tuesday) and 22nd (Wednesday) April more than 13 lakh people used public transport from Chennai to their hometowns in various regions of Tamil Nadu and other states to cast their votes. 97 trains with a combined daily capacity of almost 3.65 lakh individuals left Chennai Central and 85 from Chennai Egmore and Tambaram during this time. 7 lakh passengers reportedly took the train from Chennai in these two days. The railways also ran an unreserved special train from Chennai to Madurai to meet the demand.

Chennai, which has a sizable population from other districts, underwent a massive outflow as professionals, workers and students readied themselves to head back to their homes. Transport services in key cities like Tiruchirappalli, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem and Tirunelveli also saw an uptick to assist the voter movement. However, the fares also rose steeply as people were required to spend double and even triple the usual amount.

SIR ensured a clean and effective voting process

SIR, which represents a monumental action by the Election Commission to eliminate the irregularities tied to the voter list and secure the democratic rights of the eligible citizens, has extensively added to the remarkable achievement.

“Though we have experienced that the turnout is usually less in assembly polls, this polling percentage reflects the deletion of false and dead voters through SIR and also the improvement that has been brought in the electoral list through technology. Especially in Bengal the bogus voters have been removed through the impartial implementation of an honest process, who were not even Indian citizens. This will influence the citizens to raise their voice. The value of their votes will be reflected in the polls this time,” union minister Piyush Goyal pointed out, emphasising the role of the pivotal program.

More importantly, there is a history of high voter participation pertaining to SIR. Voter turnout in the 2025 assembly elections was much higher than in earlier elections following the exercise in Bihar and climbed from 57.29% in 2020 and 56.91% in 2015 to 67.13% in 2025. This resulted from the Election Commission’s revision of the rolls, which removed lakhs of names that were deemed to be duplicates, dead or otherwise ineligible.

It can be illustrated by the example of Maynaguri, where the electorate crossed 7,000 voters and turnout expanded to around 95%, yielding nearly 9,500 more votes than in 2021. This is real engagement growth, not statistical inflation. Both fresh voters and those who were inactive or migrants had to formally register their names during the procedure. Maynaguri truly exhibited expansion and a true broadening of the vote base.

SIR reduced the number of voters by deleting phoney names and confirming that only valid people were retained or added to the list, prompting a cleaner and more transparent process as well as enhancing public participation, as indicated by these figures.

Is it a verdict in support of incumbency or against it

The parties are actively showcasing the significant voter turnout as a testament to their victory. The TMC in West Bengal is claiming that this represents a pro-government vote, while the BJP has countered that it signals a change aimed at bringing their party to power and liberating the state from years of divisive and corrupt policies.

Nevertheless, if the significance of the Bihar assembly election result is taken into account, it could be a positive for the BJP. However, the likelihood of relentless anti-SIR rhetoric from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other opposition leaders, coupled with aforementioned unfounded threats, could have also motivated anxious people to cast their votes. The heightened security and mobilisation efforts of the Election Commission, even in the most remote and sensitive pockets also allowed individuals to freely exercise their franchise.

There might be countless factors contributing to such a significant voter turnout, and only the day of the results will disclose who really stands to gain from it. Until that moment, the sequence of claims and counterclaims will persist without interruption.

J&K man Zulfikar posed as Krishna to lure a Hindu woman in Haryana, raped, blackmailed, tortured and tried to force-feed carabeef: Here’s what the victim told OpIndia

While Arfa Khanum Sherwani or Islamists repeatedly dismiss Love Jihad as a ‘hoax’ and left-liberal cabal may portray the issue as the BJP’s communal propaganda, the ground realities expose their lies. A fresh case of Love Jihad from Haryana’s Faridabad has reignited the debate around this issue.

This case reveals the ordeal of a Hindu woman who was lured into a love affair, trapped in a false relationship, and whose life was destroyed. Today, she is seeking justice, while the accused, a Muslim man, roams freely. His real name is Zulfikar Ahmed. He concealed his Muslim identity and assumed the Hindu name “Krishna” to deceive the Hindu woman.

Zulfiqar Ahmed, originally from Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir, posing as Krishna, fraudulently married a Hindu woman. He converted the victim to Islam and gave her the Muslim name ‘Rubiya’. After this, Zulfiqar and his mother, father, brothers and sisters together pressured the victim to eat buffalo meat, offer namaz, go to the mosque and even wear a burqa. Zulfiqar raped the victim for 5 years. Not only this, he is a Pakistan lover and has visited Pakistan several times.

Zulfiqar even said to the victim, “All the ‘Abduls’ of India are not from India but from Pakistan; in the event of war, all of them will be seen standing with Pakistan.”

The Hindu victim lodged a complaint against Zulfiqar at the police station; however, no action was taken. She continues to visit the court daily. Hindu organisations supported her in her fight for justice. The victim’s legal battle continues, as the accused, Zulfiqar, has not yet been arrested.

Meanwhile, the victim has shared her ordeal with OpIndia.

Shabnam, a Muslim friend, introduced the Hindu woman to the accused Zulfiqar

This is the story of a Hindu woman who, in 2020, was barely making ends meet by earning a mere ₹6,000 a month as a labourer in a factory in Faridabad. A Muslim woman named Shabnam, a resident of Fatehpur Taga, also worked at the same factory. To gain the victim’s trust, Shabnam began to speak with her. She then introduced the victim to Zulfiqar Ahmed, a resident of Jammu and Kashmir. She shared Zulfiqar’s Instagram account with the Hindu woman.

This is where Zulfikar’s game began. Zulfikar messaged the victim from his fake Instagram account. The victim ignored the messages a couple of times, but after receiving repeated messages, she responded. Then Zulfikar began to manipulate her.

Zulfiqar, posing as ‘Fauji’ Krishna, trapped and raped a Hindu woman

Zulfiqar concealed his Muslim identity and introduced himself as “Krishna” and as an Indian Army soldier. During their Instagram conversations, he never let the victim suspect that he was actually a Muslim. After several weeks of communication, one day Zulfiqar asked to meet the Hindu woman.

According to the victim, Zulfikar claimed he was travelling to Delhi for work and wanted to meet her. He arrived in Delhi and met her somewhere outside in Faridabad. He then pretended he couldn’t find a hotel and entered her home. The victim lived alone, and Zulfikar took advantage of this. The victim said that Zulfikar mixed a sedative into a cold drink and gave it to her, causing her to become unconscious. He then raped her and took obscene photos and videos.

Threatening to make these photos and videos viral, he stayed at the victim’s house for 20 days and raped her daily. Then, he pressured her to take him to his home in Jammu and Kashmir and when she refused, he threatened to kill her.

Zulfiqar’s secret exposed on the way from Faridabad to Jammu and Kashmir, and the victim finds out his real identity

Now Zulfiqar wasn’t alone. His uncle and his uncle’s son also began pressuring the victim to go to Jammu and Kashmir. The victim said they forced her into a car and drove off. During the journey, the victim learned of Zulfiqar’s Muslim identity. When Zulfiqar asked her to reveal her name as “Rubiya” during security checks, she realised something bad was about to happen to her.

The victim, who had known Zulfikar as Krishna, was stunned, and when she asked him why he was using the name “Rubiya,” Zulfikar revealed his true identity: he was Muslim. The victim protested, but Zulfikar silenced her by threatening to make the obscene video viral and kill her.

Forced marriage followed by religious conversion in Jammu and Kashmir

The victim said that Zulfiqar brought her to his uncle’s house in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. They stayed there for 15 days. During this time, the police visited his uncle’s house several times. Zulfiqar claimed that he had gone to Delhi without informing his family, and that was why his family had filed a missing persons report. However, the victim didn’t believe him. He wouldn’t even take her home.

Zulfikar’s parents forced the Hindu victim to eat carabeef and tortured her

After marrying the victim, Zulfikar took her to his home 15 days later. There, Zulfikar’s father, Abdul Ghaffar, mother, Saira Begum, brother, and sister, Afsana, tortured the victim. They held her captive for three months. According to the victim, Zulfikar’s family forced her to wear a burqa, pressured her to eat carabeef (buffalo), and forced her to pray five times a day, and if she didn’t, they beat her.

Zulfiqar would tell her, “You have to convert to Islam. Many girls like you around were once Hindus and have now converted to Islam.” The victim said that a buffalo was slaughtered in front of her. She was also forced to eat buffalo meat, but when she refused, Zulfiqar would abuse her, rape her, and beat her. This continued for three months. One day, she managed to escape and returned to Faridabad. But Zulfiqar followed her.

Notably, while buffalo meat is legal is legal in India, most Hindus don’t consume it, and force-feeding any kind of food, whether legal or illegal, is incorrect.

Zulfikar’s links to the Delhi bomb blasts and Al Falah University

Even after returning to Faridabad, the victim’s life did not improve. Zulfikar continued to torture her. With the help of his acquaintance Shabnam, Zulfikar rented a room near the Takiya Wali Masjid in Faridabad, an area where investigative agencies frequently seize explosives and where several terrorists were arrested in the Delhi bomb blasts. Zulfikar lived there with the victim from 2021 to 2025.

The victim stated that Zulfiqar interacted with several individuals associated with Al Falah University. Shabnam was also part of this gang. The victim stated that after returning to Faridabad, Zulfiqar lived with her. During this time, he did not hold a job, yet large sums of money were deposited into his bank account, which he frequently transferred to the victim’s account and then used. When asked, he would say, “This money comes from outside.”

The victim said she had a daughter, whom Zulfikar disliked. After the birth, he forced her to have two abortions. Then, in September 2025, he suddenly fled, leaving her alone.

Second marriage with Shabnam’s daughter Sama

The victim said that Zulfikar had remarried Shabnam’s daughter. He left the victim and now lives with her. Despite living with the victim, Zulfikar had a relationship with Sama. Zulfikar remarried Sama with the family’s consent. When the victim protested, he said, “We Muslims have multiple marriages. You can come and live with me; I have no problem with that.”

This time, however, the victim did not fall for Zulfiqar’s words. She went to the Dabua police station to share her ordeal and file a complaint. However, the police refused to register her complaint. Subsequently, the victim then went to court and wrote letters to everyone from the Chief Minister of Haryana to all administrative officials, pleading for justice.

Zulfikar’s Pakistan connection

Zulfiqar is no ordinary Muslim. He lured the victim into love jihad and then married another woman. However, he still threatens her. In her complaint, the victim stated that Zulfiqar has connections to Pakistan and has visited Pakistan several times. She added that when Zulfiqar took her to Jammu and Kashmir, he only went to Pakistan for two or three days, claiming to have close friends living there.

After marrying her for the second time, Zulfiqar threatened the victim in the name of Pakistan. Zulfiqar said, “Abdul of India is not from India, but from Pakistan. In the event of war, he will be seen standing with all of Pakistan.” He also said, “He will soon acquire Pakistani citizenship and settle there.”

Bajrang Dal called it a matter of national security

Puneet Vashisht, alias Sonu, a Bajrang Dal convener in Faridabad, who is supporting the victim in her fight for justice, said that he went to the police station to file a complaint on her behalf, but no action was taken. In the complaint, he stated that this is a matter of national security because the accused praises Pakistan and talks about obtaining citizenship there. He demanded that the accused be prosecuted under the UAPA or the NSA Act.

Love Jihad is a real and big threat to the country

So, this serious case is a sham for anyone who questions the concept of love jihad. This case reveals how a Muslim man tortured a Hindu woman in various stages, and even revealed his connections to Pakistan. He was active in Al-Falah and anti-national activities while based in India.

This case exposes the truth about Muslim men who trap helpless Hindu girls in love jihad. The very truth the likes of Arfa want to suppress. It shows that women are not given a choice, but are coerced into it. Initially, they are shown affection, then ultimately, they are subjected to violence. Those who deeply understand this issue will not consider love jihad a mere “idea,” but will recognise it as an organised crime.

Intimidation of voters, attack on BJP candidates, targeting of security forces: 9 incidents of threats and violence unleashed by TMC goons and ‘lungi bahini’ of Mamata during West Bengal election

The regime of Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, has been rattled at the prospect of losing the 2026 Vidhan Sabha election. As a result, it has unleashed its hooligans to create chaos and conflict during the 1st phase of the polling. To stop people from casting their votes and overthrowing the Mamata government, TMC goons resorted to violence and intimidation. OpIndia has compiled 9 such incidents which took place on Thursday (23rd April).

In the Moyna Assembly constituency of Purba Medinipur district, TMC candidate Chandan Mondal was seen trying to influence ordinary people. The public came forward, raise slogans and chased him away.

TMC goons obstruct people from casting votes in Raninagar

According to reports, TMC goons stopped voters from casting their vote at Booth No. 54, which falls under Raninagar Assembly constituency. After complaints were raised by the people, the police and security forces met with the aggrieved voters and took them to the polling station.

BJP candidate punched, polling agent stopped from entering booth in Kumarganj

During the first phase of polling, Trinamool Congress goons (posing as aggrieved locals) manhandled the BJP candidate in the Kumarganj Assembly constituency. In a viral video, they were seen throwing punches at him in the presence of the police. Although the victim tried to get away, nothing was done by the cop to stop the attackers.

In the same constituency, TMC goons prevented the BJP polling agent from entering the booth. Later, BJP workers chased them away.

TMC goons obstruct road in Murshidabad

With the ulterior motive of showcasing their strength and intimidating voters, TMC goons took to the streets of Murshidabad and obstructed traffic flow. Although the police forces deployed in the area tried to disrupt them, they continued to create chaos while waving the Trinamool Congress flag.

Clash between TMC and AJUP

A major clash broke out between members of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the supporters of former TMC MLA Humayun Kabir in Naoda Assembly constituency of Murshidabad district. Kabir, who heads the Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP), was reportedly obstructed by Trinamool Congress workers.

This sparked a brutal clash between TMC members and AJUP workers. Armed with sticks and stones, both sides attacked each other with full force. In one video, Humayun Kabir was heard abusing TMC workers as ‘son of wh*re’ and threatened to f*ck their mothers.

TMC’s lungi brigade attacks police and central forces

On Thursday (23rd April), the ‘lungi bahini’ of the Mamata regime attacked personnel belonging to the West Bengal police and the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF). The incident occurred in the Dubrajpur Assembly constituency of Birbhum district.

TMC goons attack vehicle of BJP leader in Asansol

On Thursday (23rd April), goons belonging to the ruling Trinamool Congress party attacked the car of BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul in Asansol city of West Bengal. They pelted stones and bricks at her vehicle to injure her gravely. However, the BJP leader managed to escape unhurt. Later, a complaint was filed with the police, and an investigation was initiated into the matter.

Despite all attempts by the Mamata regime and her ‘lungi bahini’ to intimidate voters, coerce and influence them through violence and threats, people in West Bengal turned out in huge numbers to exercise their democratic right.

Man tried to break locks, burqa-clad woman gave threats, 250 videos targeting them: Family of Tarun, who was lynched by Muslim mob on Holi, granted police protection by Delhi HC

The Delhi High Court on Thursday (23rd April) directed the Delhi Police to ensure the safety of the family of the Hindu man, Tarun Kumar, who was lynched to death by a Muslim mob on the occasion of Holi in March this year in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar. The family had approached the High Court, seeking police protection after facing threats from people associated with the accused. Tarun’s mother and other family members filed a petition before the Delhi High Court seeking directions to the Delhi Police to ensure their safety and the removal of all the inflammatory and threatening videos relating to the incident from social media.

In the petition, Tarun’s family stated that on April 4, 2026, a man had broken the locks of the gate of a house and taken away the belongings. Later, on April 13, 2026, some unknown women with their faces covered threatened them. One of the women was identified by Tarun’s family as the wife of the man involved in the 4th April incident.

Counsel appearing for the Delhi government submitted before the High Court that the Delhi Police are actively ensuring the best possible protection to the petitioners. Additional DCP Dwarka, Niharika Bhatt, explained to the court the security arrangements made by the Delhi Police to ensure the safety of Tarun’s family. She said that CCTV cameras have been installed, and pickets have been created in the lane in which the petitioners’ house is located, as well as surrounding blocks. She added that a police picket has been set up right in front of the house of the petitioners. The Additional DCP also informed the police that around 250 inflammatory and sensitive videos have already been taken down by the police from various social media platforms.

After taking note of the submissions and the plea made by Tarun’s family, Justice Girish Kathpalia asked the Additional DCP to direct the concerned SHO to provide his personal mobile phone number to the petitioners so that they are able to contact him at the time of distress. The High Court directed Tarun’s family to provide the details of sensitive or inflammatory videos or content, if any, to the local SHO, which they want removed.

22 people have been named as accused in the FIR filed in connection with the brutal killing of Tarun Kumar. 18 of the accused have been arrested, while 4 accused remain absconding.

A Muslim mob lynched Tarun to death on Holi

The incident happened on Wednesday (4th March), on the festival of Holi. According to police and family accounts, an 11-year-old girl from Tarun’s family was playing Holi on her terrace. She threw a water balloon, aiming at her father, who was standing below. However, the balloon fell on the road and splashed water on a Muslim woman from the neighbourhood, leading to an argument between the two households.

The Hindu family and the girl apologised, and the matter appeared to be resolved. But the tensions escalated when Tarun returned on his bike in the evening after celebrating Holi with a friend. Tarun was stopped by a group of 15 to 20 people belonging to the Muslim community and was brutally assaulted with iron rods, bricks, stones, and other objects. The attackers also beat his family members and others, who rushed to the spot to protect him. Tarun was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the next day.

“I am from AAP, no one can touch me”: Zubair Qureshi arrested for rape of Hindu woman in Rajkot, victim narrates her ordeal after VHP assisted her

A rickshaw driver, Zubair Qureshi, has been apprehended in Gujarat’s Rajkot on allegations of sexual abuse of a Hindu woman. She reported the incident on 25th March and recently shared her experience with the media. She recounted how the accused raped her and pressurised her into converting to Islam. Additionally, she, along with leaders from the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), who are helping her, unveiled that he presented himself as a member of the Aam Aadmi Party.

The woman shared that she used Zubair’s services to visit a temple four years prior and he claimed, “I do not charge for rides to the temple,” and then sought to initiate a physical relationship with the woman. He then identified her address and followed her home. She mentioned that afterwards he repeatedly forced his way into her place and sexually exploited her. He also intimidated her into silence and threatened to disseminate her photos and videos online if she did not comply.

The victim further expressed that Zubair had made it difficult for her to step outside or lead a normal life. Hence, she lodged a complaint to the police, however, the police only counselled him instead of filing a case and allowed him to leave without taking any substantial action, which emboldened him to continue the torment.

She highlighted that the Muslim man threatened him, declaring, “I am a member of the Aam Aadmi Party, no one can touch me.” As a result, a complaint was registered but the police again failed to take any action. The complainant stated that she was compelled to relocate 3 to 4 times and even had to change her SIM card due to the fear and harassment, yet her circumstances did not change.

She eventually contacted the Surat unit of Bajrang Dal, who then connected her with activists from the VHP in Rajkot. They accompanied her to the Commissioner’s office to submit a complaint, and a case was launched upon his directives. At this press conference, Dharmendra Bhavani, the national level joint secretary of the Dharma Prasar wing of the outfit disclosed that the woman endured not only sexual violation but also physical assault and caused her injury in her intimate areas.

He added that the perpetrator tormented her by boasting about his political affiliation with the AAP and mocked that her complaints would go unheard as the cops are also “in his pocket.”

Another VHP official conveyed that the Hindu woman consistently filed complaints at the police station, however, no measures were taken against the offender after which she approached the organisation through social media. A VHP team went to the authorities and assisted her in lodging a First Information Report (FIR).

Bhavani informed that Zubair is presently incarcerated, and the Sessions Court has denied his bail request. He demanded that the government should enforce a strong penalty on this “jihadi” and assure that justice is served in the matter. He described this event as an act of Islam-inspired jihad and a bid to undermine the country. He also called upon Hindu women, urging them to reach out to the VHP if they ever encounter such an occurrence.

The Ajidam police invoked sections 64(2)(m), 115(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Zubair and arrested him after the FIR. He is in the Sulaiya jail and petitioned the Sessions Court for bail, but it was denied.

Mocking Maa Sita’s birth, sexual innuendos on Lord Krishna’s parents: Hindus demand action against Ambedkarite activist Satish Bauddh for vile, derogatory comments at Delhi event

Making derogatory remarks against the Hindu religion and deities under the pretext of advocating ‘social justice’ and ‘rationality’ has become an opprobrious trend. In a fresh attack on the Hindu faith, Satish Bauddh, a self-proclaimed Ambedkarite, made highly offensive, vile remarks about Hindu Devi-Devtas at a public event in Delhi’s Ashok Nagar on 18th April. Bauddh’s Hinduphobic comments have triggered a massive backlash, with many demanding his arrest.

During an event commemorating Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s birthday, Satish Bauddh delivered a speech wherein he began with the usual hateful commentary against the ‘Manuwadi ideology’, caste, and superstition, to incite Dalit Hindus to convert to Buddhism. However, he soon pivoted to spewing vitriol against Hindu deities, scriptures and beliefs.

Satish Bauddh mocked Maa Sita

Mocking the story of Maa Sita’s divine birth, Satish Bauddh said, “There was a king and queen. They were not able to have children… So meet a doctor… But a sage told them that if the king and queen plough the field together, they will have children… Now when the plough got stuck… a pot was found… there was a girl in it… That girl was named Sita… I did not understand one thing… the kids will come out during the excavation… are they kids or potatoes or radishes… We accepted it as truth because we did not take refuge in intellect… Can it really happen that while digging the ground, a girl comes out…”

Ambedkarite activist’s sexual innuendo-riddled mockery of the Puranic story of Lord Krishna’s birth

During his speech, the Hinduphobic ‘activist’ also mocked Lord Krishna and his birth story through sexual innuendos around the baby swap incident mentioned in Hindu scriptures.

“Vasudev oh Babuji… the relationship happened with great difficulty… Kansa collected both of them together… Men will be locked up separately and women will be locked up separately… But Kansa collected both of them together… Brother, farming has started there… The eighth child was about to be born… He left with the boy… They made the exchange… I gave the boy there. I took the girl here… The girl who came turned out to be even smarter than him… Flying in the air she is saying, Kansa son, your arrangements have been made… So we are moving from darkness to darkness,” he said, to cheerful and equally Hinduphobic crowd.

He further called Lord Krishna a ‘womaniser’ and rebuked people for celebrating birthday and cutting cakes in honour of such a person.

Mockery of Draupadi and the disrobing episode from Mahabharat

After insulting Mata Sita and Lord Krishna, Satish Bauddh proceeded to insult queen Draupadi, specifically mentioning the Vastra-haran or disrobing incident. He claimed that Pandavas planned to disrobe Draupadi, (although it was the Kauravas), and inserted a ‘Dalit-Savarn’ angle to villainise upper-caste Hindus.

He said, “A woman was standing there, her name was Draupadi… When the Pandavas planned to disrobe Draupadi… Were there any Dalits in that meeting? They were not Shudras, they were Ati Shudras… those who disrobed the woman were also upper caste… It was Savarn who bet the woman in gambling… The stories of these people have ruined us… From darkness to darkness, friend, the stories of these people have ruined us.”

Sounding no different from a Hindu-hating Christian missionary or an Islamist peddling hate, Satish Bauddh’s blatant mockery of Hindu deities and scriptures relied on insults, sexual innuendos and mindless literalist misreading aimed at alienating Dalit Hindus from Sanatan Dharma. Bauddh deliberately highlighted incidents described in Hindu scriptures without proper moral, philosophical and spiritual context and teachings of the Hindu scriptures.

It is also interesting to note how Satish Bauddh, Christian missionaries and even Islamists like the ones accused in the TCS Nashik case, share the same disdain for Hindus and penchant to mock Hindu deities. OpIndia reported earlier how the Muslim men accused in the TCS Nashik case used to ridicule the Hindu faith by throwing similar “Krishna was a womaniser”, “Shivling is phallus”, “Draupadi is characterless”, etc.

Hindus demand police action against Satish Bauddh

It is rather a deplorable reality of a Hindu-majority India that Hindus like Gautam Khattar are booked for criticising a 16th-century Christian missionary, who tortured, killed, and forced thousands of Hindus to convert to Christianity; Islamists become celebrities after mocking Bhagwan Ram and Maa Sita, and the likes of Satish Bauddh become ‘rationalists’ and ‘social justice warriors’ after mocking Hindu deities.

Bauddh’s speech has been widely circulated on social media by various self-proclaimed ‘Ambedkarite’ handles.

As several videos of Satish Bauddh’s Hinduphobic commentary went viral on social media, Hindus have risen in outrage and demanded his arrest.

In this vein, an X user wrote, “In Ashoknagar, New Delhi, this man kept on mocking Hindu Dharm, Hindu Deities. Mocked Mata Sita. Mocked Shri Krishna. Called Vasudev – R**dwa. Mocked Mahadev and so on and published a video on their social media channels @BahujanDastakTv. These statements have deeply hurt our religious sentiments. I urge @DelhiPolice @DCPSouthDelhi to file an FIR against this speaker, Social media handlers and the organisers  because they are trying to create a rift and propagate hatred among people.”

Saket wrote, “If Goa Police can go to Uttarakhand and pick someone for posting facts on a priest from medieval era, why cannot @DelhiPolice do the same for straight forward blasphemy and attempt to create disharmony.”

One user named “Sawarn Voice” wrote, “Ashoknagar, Delhi just dropped the most revolutionary content ever. Some genius from @BahujanDastakTv spent his evening mocking Mata Sita, roasting Shri Krishna, calling Vasudev a straight-up Rdwa**, and dragging Mahadev too. Then they proudly uploaded the whole circus on their channels. Peak Bahujan unity strategy: insult Hindu deities, hurt millions of sentiments, and cry “equality” while spreading hate. @DelhiPolice @DCPSouthDelhi FIR against the speaker, handlers & organisers right now. Or is hurt sentiments only a crime when it’s not Hindus? Stop manufacturing rifts for views.”

Who is Satish Bauddh

Satish Bauddh claims to be an Ambedkarite Buddhist activist and a public speaker. He has earned notoriety for delivering anti-Hindu speeches at ‘Ambedkarite’ events. His social media pages are replete with posts and videos mocking the Hindu faith.

As per his LinkedIn page, Bauddh is a Ghaziabad-based “Independent Corporate Training Consultant”.

Back in 2017, Satish Bauddh addressed a Muslim crowd wherein he labelled Hindus, particularly Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a Bhagwa Gunda or ‘Saffron Goon’ and attempted to provoke mob violence. While attacking the BJP, he also peddled the ‘EVM hacking’ bogey, casting aspersions on the integrity of the Election Commission.

More recently, Bauddh peddled misleading claims that Manuwadi men used to force widows into the funeral pyre of their deceased husbands to become ‘Sati’. He also mocked the “Johar” practice committed by Hindu women in the Medieval era of the Islamic invaders.

Unsurprisingly, Satish Bauddh also glorifies anti-Hindu activist EV Ramaswamy Naicker also known as Periyar, who reportedly used to tell his followers that if they ever encountered a Brahmin and a snake on the road, they should kill the Brahmin first.

While Satish Bauddh’s recently anti-Hindu commentary has sparked massive outrage, the so-called Ambedkarite has repeatedly been targeting Hindu deities, scriptures, and practices in his speeches and social media content, all in the name of promoting ‘rational approach’, social justice and Buddhism.

Congress-linked advocate Muhammad Ali Khan gets X users to delete tweets, read why the court should not have issued this order

OpIndia has removed its April 6 article about Meta India’s public policy team. The tweets that the article highlighted, rightly so, were removed in accordance with an ex-parte court order, following a case filed by the law firm Shergill, Hoda & Nasir on behalf of their clients – a Congress-linked lawyer Muhammad Ali Khan and his wife, a former META employee, Prianka Rao-Khan. An interim injunction was issued by the Hon’ble Delhi High Court on April 15, 2026 in CS(OS) 318/2026.

We do so not because we doubt the veracity of our reporting, but out of respect for the judicial process and appreciation of the Court’s interim orders, which are expressly binding on third parties. However, we think that our readers should be informed about the Court’s actual orders as well as the facts in our initial article that were based on verifiable, publicly available material and are still uncontested.

Muhammad Ali Khan a Congress-linked advocate with nearly two decades of experience before the Supreme Court of India, and his wife, plaintiff no 2, a former public policy manager at Meta India (Prianka Rao-Khan) who resigned on January 20, 2026, filed the suit before the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi. X corp (formerly Twitter), two anonymous social media accounts using the handle @Jhunjhunuwala and @mujifren, and a John Doe (fourth defendant) representing unidentified individuals described in the pleadings as bots and coordinated troll accounts allegedly acting in concert with the named accounts are the defendants in the suit. The suit seeks damages for what the Congress-linked lawyer characterise as an ongoing, organised, and “communally inflammatory” defamation campaign against them, as well as a permanent injunction and mandatory orders for X Corp. to remove information and disclose the individuals behind the anonymous handles.

On April 15, 2026, Hon. Mr. Justice Subramonium Prasad heard the application for urgent interim relief entirely through video conferencing without informing the defendants. This process is referred to in law as an ex parte hearing. After reviewing the contested tweets, the Court determined that they were prima facie “vulgar, derogatory, and communally provocative”.

The Court issued the sweeping interim injunction, prohibiting not just the listed Defendants, but any third party, from disseminating the content in question. It is also against this context that OpIndia, which was not named in the complaint, was not heard, and was not given the opportunity to present its editorial reasoning to the Court, received a legal notice requesting the removal of our article within days of the order being passed.

For context, while we legally cannot reproduce the exact content of the tweets in question, the jist of the broader conversation on X was that META was biased against BJP supporters, especially those who post content about Hindu rights. It was alleged on X by many that it was owing to one of the plaintiffs, Prianka Rao-Khan, and her Congress-linked husband, Muhammad Ali Khan. The context is confirmed by Khan’s tweet which is still published on X (formerly Twitter). It is unclear why Khan believed that the contents of the posts on X (now removed) were defamatory.

The conversation itself could potentially be argued to be accusatory, which could have been defended in court, if at all, if a hearing was granted. Interstingly, Congress itself has accused Meta to be biased earlier and therefore, it is beyond the realm of reasonability that a Congress-linked lawyer would find it not only “defamatory”, but also “communally sensitive” for such an allegation to be made.

What court actually ordered and what it did not

On its face, Hon. Mr. Justice Subramonium Prasad’s order is an ex parte ad interim injunction, which is a temporary restraint granted urgently without hearing the other side. The Court’s exercise of jurisdiction is not intended to be criticised, this is a well established procedural tool. Nonetheless, it is also well established in Indian jurisprudence that an ex parte order does not constitute a verdict of guilt or a final factual determination. In order to avoid irreversible injury while awaiting a complete hearing, it is an urgent prima facie assessment.

In paragraph 16, the Court itself used cautious language ‘In the prima facie opinion of this Court.’ There is legal significance to the statement. It indicates that the Court’s opinion is provisional, rather than a definitive conclusion that the tweets or publications that relied on them were in fact defamatory, it is a threshold finding sufficient to provide temporary relief. The defendants have not yet been given a hearing. Cross examination hasn’t taken place. No evidence has been put to the test. The next hearing is scheduled for July 17, 2026.

It is also important to note that the defendants and anybody ‘acting on their behalf’ are prohibited from distributing the allegedly defamatory material by the injunction under paragraph 21. In paragraph 24, this is expanded to include ‘any member of the public.’

This restriction’s scope, which includes anonymous third parties who were never heard nor represented, raises valid concerns regarding procedural justice. Such blanket injunctions, especially those that restrict journalistic reporting, have historically drawn criticism from higher courts, and India’s prior restraint of the press legislation is still a developing and contentious field.

OpIndia is not a party to the case. We were not given a chance to present the Court with our editorial process, nor were we served or heard. The plaintiffs’ legal counsel used the injunction as justification for requesting take down in the legal notice they issued us on April 17, 2026. That requirement is taken seriously by us. However, we also respectfully point out that the issue of whether an injunction order should be applied to a media outlet that reported independently and was not a defendant in the suit is still up for debate.

What records show and what remains true

The original article relied heavily on facts that could be verified and on social media posts that were accessible to the public – including the tweet of Congress-linked lawyer Muhammad Ali Khan. We note that two of the key sources, the X accounts @Jhunjhunuwala_ and @mujifren, have been listed as defendants in the suit, and the Court has explicitly required for those posts to be deleted. Since those tweets have been deleted, OpIndia was bound by the court order to remove the content based on those tweets as well. However, some of the information in our story was supported by public records at the time of publishing and was not solely based on their accounts. We put them on record here:

Muhammad Ali Khan, the first plaintiff, is an advocate of the Supreme Court of India who publicly lists himself as a member of the Indian National Congress’s Media Team on his own X page. This is his declared affiliation, not a description put forth by critics.

According to the Court’s own order at paragraph 2, Plaintiff No. 2 left Meta India’s public policy team on January 20, 2026. According to the Court, she was ‘associated with Meta India’s public policy team (focusing on online women and child safety policy) until her resignation on 20.01.2026.’

In paragraph 2 of the court’s order, it is further confirmed that the two plaintiffs are married. Therefore, the Plaintiffs’ own pleadings before the Delhi High Court, rather than anonymous tweets, prove this fact, which was part of the context of our article regarding potential conflicts of interest inside a policy influencing capacity.

Fundamentally, it is a matter of legitimate public interest to determine whether a public policy manager at a major social media platform, one with substantial influence over content moderation decisions affecting hundreds of millions of Indian users, has a potential conflict of interest due to her spouse’s active political role. It is a question that regulators, oversight authorities, and individuals in democratic democracies routinely and correctly pose to institutions holding private influence over public discourse. It is not defamatory to ask that question. Accountability journalism is what it is.

Unexplainable victim-card by Muhammad Ali Khan

The court, in its wisdown, deemed it appropriate to pass an ex-parte injunction, ordering for the posts to be taken down while the case is being heard. However, what is far more problematic here is the claims made by Muhammad Ali Khan, and eventually, the claims accepted by the court.

The conversation on X revolved around how a Congress-linked lawyer and his wife were potentially ensuring that META was biased against those ideologically opposed to them. These are not different from the allegations that Congress itself has made in the past. It is, therefore, inexplicable how the same allegations have been deemed “communal” when made against Muhammad Ali Khan and is merely a suspicion when made by the party that Khan is affiliated with.

It is therefore clearly misuse of his own religious identity by Khan to ensure that his wife, a former META employee, and him, her Congress-linked husband, cannot be questioned by the public at large.

Essentially, the use of religious identity to subvert the religious process by victim-playing is not new, but as far as public criticism is concerned, the court has ratified a dangerous template which can now be used by other bad actors.

We would not be surprised if other, unrelated posts on X by related handles were used to allege religious bias by Khan and play victim to convince the court to pass this extremely problematic order in his favour.

A closing note

Free press cannot operate if publishing information that is publicly accessible exposes a news organization to injunctions that it was unable to challenge. Free public discourse is the very bedrock that democracy stands on and every public person is open to scrutinity – including Khan and his wife. Today, we comply. In compliance with the law, we maintain our right to continue reporting on issues of legitimate public interest and to pursue necessary legal remedies. The story of institutional conflicts of interest, political ties, and platform governance that influence India’s information landscape is not going away. It is a story that will and should be told again and again carefully, fairly, and with complete regard for the rights of all individuals involved.

OpIndia Exclusive: Shoaib Hussain stalks Hindu women, breaks into their houses at night and performs obscene acts while peeking into their rooms- Read details

A video recently went viral on social media, showing a man barging into a house and peeking into a room in the middle of the night and performing obscene acts. The viral video shared on an Instagram post was captured by the CCTV cameras installed in the house. The Instagram post attracted numerous comments by women who stated that the man in the video had targeted several Hindu women with similar activities over the past year.

OpIndia dug out some exclusive details relating to the incident by contacting the women who had narrated their stories in the comments on the Instagram post. Our investigation into the incident confirmed that it happened in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, and the man in the video was Shoaib Hussain. Speaking to OpIndia, the women narrated their shocking stories of how Shoaib Hussain stalked them. The women also shared the CCTV footage of their houses with us.

Several videos of Shoaib Hussain barging into the houses of Hindu women late at night are being widely circulated on social media. In one of the videos captured on the CCTV camera of a house on April 18, 2026, Shoaib Hussain can be seen entering the building and peeking through the window of a room located on the top floor using a ladder. The house Shoaib entered belonged to a woman who worked at a company in the Transport Nagar area of Dehradun. When she returned from her work shift around 3:00 am, Shoaib followed her into her house. When the woman noticed Shoaib peeking into her room through the window, she raised an alarm, after which he fled.

Another Hindu victim, who spoke to OpIndia, revealed shocking details about the activities of Shoaib Hussain. She said Shoaib Hussain has been spotted near the Graphi Era University in Dehradun multiple times. He enters the Paying Guest (PG) accommodations for women at night and tries to peek into the rooms. The woman said that she and another woman live in a newly constructed PG accommodation.

On 17th April, Shoaib entered their PG accommodation and tried to open the door to the first floor of the building. However, since the woman had locked the door, he failed to get in. Then he went to another floor of the building, where the room of the other woman was located. Finding the door to the other floor open, he got in and reached the woman’s room. He kicked the door of her room twice. Hearing the knock on the door, both women grew suspicious and contacted each other on WhatsApp. Then they called a woman in their neighbourhood, who arrived at the spot within minutes. However, hearing the footsteps, Shoaib managed to flee the spot before the neighbour arrived.

In a video captured on a CCTV camera on March 14, 2025, Shoaib can be seen following a Hindu woman into her house at night. After the woman entered her room, Shoaib tried to peek in through the window of the room, but suddenly ran away on hearing some movement. In another video of the same house, captured on September 23, 2025, Shaoib was seen entering the house again and trying to peek into the room of the Hindu woman through the video. Failing to catch a view into the room through the window, Shoaib lay down on the floor and tried to peek into the room through the door mesh. While peeking into the room, her puts his hand inside his pants and performs an obscene act.

In another CCTV footage, Shoaib Hussain was seen passing through a lane on a bike. He parked the bike on the side and started peeking into the houses nearby. In a different CCTV footage of a house, Shoaib was captured entering a house through its main door at night. He climbed the stairs of the house and went to the first floor.

During OpIndia’s investigation, it was found that Shoaib Hussain is a resident of the Ranger colony in the Mohobewala area of Dehradun. He and his family cause a regular nuisance to their neighbours. He was detained by the police after the Hindu women submitted a complaint to the local police. However, he was released after his family claimed that he was a lunatic.

It is clear from the CCTV footage going viral on social media that Shoaib Hussain has been stalking Hindu women and entering their houses at least for the past year. The ease with which enter the houses of the Hindu women at night shows that he acts in a premeditated manner. He knows the usual routes taken by these women and is also familiar with the structure of their houses, suggesting that he had been watching them for a long time.

The Hindu women have accused local police of inaction against the accused. They are reluctant to lodge an FIR against him, fearing that if he is released on bail after the filing of the FIR, he would come after them. When OpIndia contacted the Mohobewala police in connection with the matter, they said that they have taken cognisance of the issue and are looking for Shoaib Hussain, who is on the run.
