Delhi cop kicks namazis who had blocked roads for offering prayers, suspended after video went viral

On Friday (8th March), a video of several Muslims offering namaz on the road in the Indralok area in Delhi surfaced online. In the video, some police officers are seen asking them to move aside as they are blocking the road. However, an officer arrives and kicks a man offering namaz and angrily asks him to move.

The 34-second long video is recorded by a person present on the spot who can be heard claiming that the cop is kicking Muslims insinuating that the cop officer hit the man because of his Muslim identity and not for blocking the road and causing inconvenience to the passing vehicles.

As seen in the viral video, after the cop hit the man, a Muslim mob turned agitated and surrounded the policeman. Following this, the officer and the mob had a heated argument. Some voices in the background can heard saying “Maaro saale ko… (beat the scoundrel)”.

Meanwhile, the cop has been suspended. Police officials said, “In the incident at Indelork today, the Police Post Incharge, who was seen in the video has been suspended with immediate effect. Necessary disciplinary action is also taken.”

Netizens slam Elvish Yadav for his photograph with Munawar Faruqui, YouTuber explains himself in a video: Details

On Friday (8th March), YouTuber Elvish Yadav shared a video from his X handle furnishing an explanation after netizens slammed him over his photo with anti-Hindu comedian Munawar Faruqui that had gone viral a day ago.

Elvish Yadav and Munawar Faruqui participated in a charity cricket match of the Indian Street Premier League in Mumbai on 7th March. A photograph of both of them together during the match had gone viral on social media. In his video, Elvish Yadav rubbished the allegations against him by netizens calling him a fake Hindu for his seemingly warm interaction with anti-Hindu comedian Munawar Faruqui.

In this charity match, Elvish Yadav was playing for Sachin Tendulkar’s team ‘Master 11’ while Munawar Faruqui was a part of Akshay Kumar’s team ‘Khiladi 11’. Munawar Faruqui hit a sixer off Elvish Yadav who then went on to bowl three no-balls and two wide balls before getting the anti-Hindu comedian out. After getting Faruqui’s wicket, Elvish Yadav was seen hugging Munawar Faruqui from behind in a sporting gesture as the batter walked off the field.

When the pictures of this instance went viral, Elvish Yadav received multiple criticising messages and comments on various social media handles and posts. One X user Yash Vyas wrote, “Shame on Elvish. Traitor Hindu Elvish Yadav should come to know the anger of Hindus. He said he is a staunch Hindu, enjoyed votes, money and fame on account of Hindus and now he is hugging anti-Hindu Munawar Faruqui. Show him his place.”

Harish Mali wrote, “How can someone smile with a man who is against Lord Ram?”

After receiving multiple such comments, Elvish Yadav posted from his X handle, “If you start finding fault, you will find fault in everything. Live with love and move ahead.” Munawar Faruqui reshared it with a heart emoji.

On 8th March, Elvish Yadav posted a video explaining this incident. In this video, he said, “The Indian Street Premier League invited me for a charity match. Many celebrities were playing in this tournament. I have charged zero rupees for the match. We practised for two days and then I played the match. People have accused me of compromising on Hinduism by playing in this match for money. Let me tell them, I have not taken any money from this match.”

He added, “People are also trolling me for hugging Munawar Faruqui. I should clarify that I was not hugging him. I was poking him. It was a sporty gesture during the game when I took his wicket. Before that, he hit a sixer off my bowling. At that time he even hit the bat on the pitch and teased me. When I took his wicket, I poked him and laughed. It was just that. Nothing else. Still, people have criticised me saying that I am friends with an anti-Hindu and therefore I am also anti-Hindu.”

Elvish Yadav further said, “Mere photographs with someone does not make you anti-Hindu. Sachin Tendulkar is a great player. He is a staunch nationalist as well. He played and won so many matches for our country. Will you call him anti-Hindu for this? Akshay Kumar has so many photos and videos of his interaction with PM Modi. Munawar Faruqui played in his team. Will you call Akshay Kumar an anti-Hindu or a fake Hindu now?”

Elvish Yadav said, “Random people hiding their identities have come to X spaces and other platforms to accuse me of being anti-Hindu and earning money by compromising religion. They have abused me and my fans in the name of mothers and sisters. Nobody needs to give me a certificate of how Hindu I am. I have not abused anyone in my space. I said that abuse is not good. Unknown people asking me to apologise for being a fake Hindu. Why should I apologise and for what reason should I? Who has given them the right to call me a fake Hindu? Whoever feels so is free to unfollow me. Why abuse me and my fans and then expect an apology from me? Declare all those who were involved in that event as anti-Hindu and fake Hindus. Shame on Elvish was trending yesterday. What next? What difference does it make? Will you bear useless abuse if someone abuses you as these people abused me?”

In another incident, a social media user who goes by the handle @maxtern took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared a video stating that he was assaulted by 8-10 goons purportedly sent by Elvish Yadav. Maxtern also stated that Yadav has also threatened to kill him. According to him, Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav reportedly sent 8 to 10 men to assault a social media user who mocked him over his pictures with Hinduphobic ‘comedian’ Munawar Faruqui during the ongoing inaugural season of the Indian Street Premier League 2024.

The saga commenced when Maxtern posted a sarcastic video poking fun at Elvish’s camaraderie with comedian Munawar Faruqui during the recent Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) cricket match. In the video, Maxtern teased Elvish and implied he was a hypocrite for associating with Munawar, despite proudly identifying as a ‘Ram bhakt’. Munawar faced severe criticism in 2020 for ridiculing Lord Ram and Goddess Sita during one of his stand-up performances.

When Maxtern brought attention to this, Elvish replied on X saying, “Bhai tu Delhi hi rehta hai socha yad dila du,” which appeared to be a veiled threat.

Exclusive: JNU has no idea about the culprits involved in the 2022 anti-Brahmin graffiti incident on campus, reveals RTI

Fifteen months after the walls of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus were defaced with anti-Brahmin and anti-Baniya slogans, the varsity has conceded that it is still clueless about the identity of the culprits.

The revelation was made by JNU on Wednesday (6th March) in its reply to an RTI query filed by activist Vivek Pandey. He had sought information about the action taken against the miscreants involved in the incident.

“Brahmins Leave The Campus, There Will Be Blood. Brahmin Bharat Chhodo and Brahmino Baniyas, we are coming for you. We will avenge etc were written on the walls inside JNU”, the RTI query pointed out.

“…The university authorities issued a statement condemning the incident and blaming unknown elements behind the defacement of the campus. An inquiry into the incident has been ordered,” it added.

Vivek Pandey mentioned three questions in his RTI query. They are as follows:

  1. Please provide the details of action taken against these people who raised anti-Brahmin slogans inside JNU campus.
  2. Please provide the details of the final status report of inquiry done by JNU on this issue
  3. Please provide the details of identified person who raised these slogans inside JNU campus and punishment given them to by JNU

Response of Jawaharlal Nehru University

The varsity responded to the RTI queries partly, first on 15th February and then on 6th March.

In its reply dated 15th February, JNU acknowledged, “None of the information sought by the applicant is available with the Security Department of JNU.

Later on Wednesday (6th March), the university informed that the security personnel have failed to ascertain the identity of those involved in anti-Brahmin, anti-Baniya graffiti incident of December 2022.

The incident involved writing inappropriate slogans on walls of School of International Studies. However, as per depositions received, security guards were not able to identify any one,” conceded the JNU administration.

The Background of the Controversy

On 1st December 2022, slogans against Brahmin and Baniya communities were found written on the walls of the School of International Studies-II building of JNU.

The slogans read “Brahmin-Baniya, we are coming for you”, “We will avenge”, “Brahmins Leave the campus”, “Brahmins leave India”, “Now there will be blood”, and “Go back to Sakha” among others.

‘Go to the Shakha’ was written on the doors of the chambers of several professors, accusing them of being RSS members. The professors targeted by the miscreants included Nalin Kumar Mohapatra, Raj Yadav, Pravesh Kumar, and Vandana Mishra.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization affiliated with the RSS, has called it a “barbarism” by the Left.

ABVP President (JNU) Rohit Kumar said that a woman professor, whose gate had ‘Go Back to Shakha’ written on it, was held hostage for three days in 2019. Later, the the Office of the Registrar issued a strong statement condemning the vandalism.

In a statement, it informed that the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity had taken cognisance on the matter and that such display of intolerance would not be entertained.

Statement of the Registrar dated 1st December 2022

“The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Santishree D. Pandit has taken a serious note of the incident of defacement of walls and faculty rooms by some unknown elements in SIS, JNU. The administration condemns these exclusivist tendencies on campus,” the note emphasised.

“Such incidents will not be tolerated as JNU belongs to all,” the Office of the Registrar further added. It further said that the Dean of the School of International Studies and Grievances Committee had been directed to submit a report about the incident to the Vice-Chancellor of JNU.

The Office of the Registrar of the varsity concluded, “JNU stands for inclusion and equality. The VC reiterates zero tolerance for any kind of violence on campus.” The note bore the signature of the acting Registrar

Delhi: 29-year-old gym owner killed hours before his wedding; father had stabbed him 15 times for being ‘disrespectful’, arrested

On Wednesday, March 6, a 29-year-old gym trainer, was allegedly stabbed 15 times in his face and chest at his South Delhi home. The deceased identified as Gaurav Singhal, who ran the gym Fit Box,  was mercilessly killed hours before his wedding. The police arrested Rangalal, his father, who went missing after committing the murder. The police said that Rangalal carried out the crime out of anger since Gaurav used to insult him daily.

Rangalal along with three others stabbed Gaurav hours before he was about to tie the knot. Reports suggest that the guests had arrived and were awaiting the commencement of Gaurav’s wedding procession, but Gaurav was missing from his own wedding ceremony. This led the family members to launch a frantic hunt for Gaurav. Upon searching, the guests found Gaurav lying in a pool of blood in a park during the early hours of Thursday (March 7).

He was taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. Gaurav’s father and his three other accomplices went missing soon after committing the crime.

The deceased’s relatives called the police to inform them about the incident on Thursday around 12.30 am. When the police reached the spot, they found blood stains inside the house. It appeared that Gaurav’s body had been dragged, in a bid to hide the body, after he was stabbed to death.

Delhi Police also discovered several shoe marks of different sizes in and around the room, leading them to suspect that more than one person was involved in the murder.

The police said that Singhal’s family, along with the wedding guests, were dancing to music in a different building in the neighbourhood when the crime is suspected to have taken place.

Speaking about the incident, DCP South District Delhi, Ankit Chauhan said, Gaurav’s father, Ranglal Singhal, fled the house with jewellery worth Rs. 50 lakh and Rs. 15 lakh cash. The police are investigating the matter from all angles. They suspect that Ranglal had an argument with Gaurav, during which Gaurav slapped his father. Enraged, Ranglal, along with his three accomplices, killed Gaurav and fled the house with the cash and jewellery.

Meanwhile, another police officer privvy to the case said that an initial probe into the case revealed that Gaurav did not want to get married, but was being forced by his father.

“Through local enquiry, we have learnt that Singhal was in love with another woman and wanted to marry her. His family did not approve of his relationship. We have learnt that Singhal and his father often had altercations over that issue,” the officer said, on condition of anonymity.

Bengaluru water crisis: Posh flat owners going to malls to use toilet, govt puts restrictions on car washing, gardening and fountains

Bengaluru water crisis has made living in the IT city more miserable than ever. The scarce rainfall in 2023 due to the El Nino effect has caused the groundwater table to disappear, not just lower. Many borewells in and around the city including the one owned by Karnataka’s deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar have dried. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence is also dependent on tankers for the water supply.

While schools and jobs have gone virtual amid the water crisis, people owning posh flats in Bengaluru are now going to malls to use the toilet. The government has put strict restrictions on domestic water usage for non-drinking purposes to cope with the situation.

Bengaluru is grappling with a severe water crisis, impacting even prominent figures like Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. Karnataka Water Supply and Sewerage Board has now banned the usage of drinking water for car washing, gardening, construction, water fountains and road construction and maintenance. It also imposes a fine of Rs 5000, if the order is violated.

Schools, colleges, other academic institutions like coaching classes and industries in Bengaluru have also borne the impact of this water crisis. Some academic institutions declared to hold all the lectures and classes virtually for a week while many offices have told their employees to work from home.

On Wednesday, the Bengaluru district administration implemented price caps for water tanker services utilised by residents. Rates for 200 private tankers, operating under contract for a four-month term, were established following recommendations from a technical advisory committee.

In a circular issued by Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner Dayananda KA, it was announced that all taluks within the Bengaluru Urban district have been declared drought-affected. He further stated that private water tanker services are subject to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), thus the rates quoted include GST charges.

Expensive flats in posh apartment complexes do not have water for kitchen or toilets

Due to the escalating water crisis in Bengaluru, residents of a prestigious gated community are reportedly compelled to frequent a nearby mall daily for restroom facilities. Prestige Falcon City, located on Kanakapura Road, is a high-end residential enclave profoundly impacted by the city’s water scarcity. Despite residents’ efforts to minimize water consumption by employing disposable dining ware, the severity of the crisis has led many to queue up at the nearby Forum Mall for restroom access.

A Reddit post highlights the challenges faced by residents of Prestige Falcon City. According to the Reddit user “Familiar-Art-8675,” it has been over a month since the community experienced consistent, uninterrupted water supply.

The user further stated that numerous tenants have left their apartments, while others have sought temporary housing solutions. Those remaining have resorted to using disposable plates for meals or opting for takeout to minimize water consumption for dishwashing and cooking.

The situation unfolding in an upscale residential complex paints a grim picture. For numerous individuals, the circumstances are particularly dire as they continue to pay EMIs on home loans exceeding Rs 1 crore, yet they are deprived of something as basic as water.

The current emergency stems from a severe water shortage in Karnataka, notably in its capital city Bengaluru. The insufficient rainfall experienced in 2023 has resulted in one of the most severe water crises in recent memory, with the Indian Meteorological Department linking the sparse precipitation to the El Niño phenomenon.

Water tankers traversing Bengaluru’s streets have become a prevalent sight. Owing to heightened demand for water, suppliers have escalated their prices from Rs 700 to a range between Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,800 per tanker. Residents Welfare Associations (RWA) in the city are under scrutiny from their members for purportedly failing to implement sufficient measures to alleviate the water crisis.

‘8-10 goons sent by Elvish Yadav assaulted me’: SM user who was threatened for posting a meme over Yadav’s pictures with Munawar Faruqui

Bigg Boss winner Elvish Yadav reportedly sent 8 to 10 men to assault a social media user who mocked him over his pictures with Hinduphobic ‘comedian’ Munawar Faruqui during the ongoing inaugural season of the Indian Street Premier League 2024.

A social media user who goes by the handle @maxtern took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared a video stating that he was assaulted by 8-10 goons purportedly sent by Elvish Yadav. Maxtern also stated that Yadav has also threatened to kill him.

For those unfamiliar, Munawar faced severe criticism in 2020 for ridiculing Lord Ram and Goddess Sita during one of his stand-up performances.

When Maxtern brought attention to this, Elvish replied on X saying, “Bhai tu Delhi hi rehta hai socha yad dila du,” which appeared to be a veiled threat. Additionally, Elvish shared screenshots of messages where the Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner suggested meeting him in Gurugram after midnight.

The X user asserted that they possessed videos documenting the events in Gurugram, including the altercation with Elvish, which they planned to release soon.

Amidst criticism from various right-wing supporters regarding his friendship with Munawar, Elvish turned to his X handle to write a cryptic message without directly addressing anyone.

“Khot nikaalne baithoge, har cheez mein khol nikal jayegi.. pyaar mohabbat se raho aur aage badho,” he shared on his handle.

In response, Munawar also reacted to the post with a heart emoji.

Everyone knows that Islam needs to be Sinicised, this is an inevitable trend: Senior Chinese Communist Party official in Xinjiang

Ma Xingrui, a top official of the Communist Party of China, declared on 7th March that the “Sinicisation” of Islam in the province of northwest China, where Muslims predominate, is “inevitable.” The chief of the party’s Xinjiang unit was speaking to the media on the sidelines of the country’s annual parliamentary sessions in Beijing.

He stated, “Everyone knows that Islam in Xinjiang needs to be Sinicised, this is an inevitable trend,” at a largely scripted briefing. In 2021, Xinjiang Communist Party Secretary Ma Xingrui, the former governor of the affluent Guangdong province was assigned to lead the Xinjiang government. Notably, Sinicisation refers to the process of non-Chinese societies or groups getting assimilated into Chinese culture. The end goal is conformity to cultural, ideological, and ethnic norms.

He and other regional representatives attempted to portray Xinjiang as welcoming to global business and tourism during the press conference while also applauding the region’s economic growth and disputing American accusations of forced labour and cultural genocide. He also emphasised the significance of “coordinate security and development.”

The politician used a political slogan to allude to “ethnic separatism, religious extremism, and violent terrorist forces” in Xinjiang and pointed out, “The three forces are still active now, but we cannot be afraid (to open up) because they exist.” Senior Xinjiang parliamentarian Wang Mingshan asserted, “We have carried out a severe crackdown on terrorist activities, promulgated and implemented anti-terrorism laws to combat various forms of terrorism.”

However, Xinjiang’s economic growth, tourism potential, and what the officials called “cultural preservation” took up much of the briefing. According to the region’s chairman, Erkin Tuniyaz, Xinjiang received nearly 19 billion yuan ($2.6 billion) in fiscal aid from other provinces in addition to 565.7 billion yuan ($78.5 billion) in central government transfers last year, which accounted for 72.7% of local government spending.

Erkin Tuniyaz and former regional chairman Shohrat Zakir, two Xinjiang officials blacklisted by the United States due to human rights violations in the region, accompanied Ma Xingrui. Over 4,390 international visitors to Xinjiang in 2023, based on officials, and the region’s total installed renewable energy capacity of 22.61 million kilowatts last year brought it to 64.4 million kilowatts or nearly half of Xinjiang’s power capacity.

The development transpired six months after Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Xinjiang and instructed officials to “promote the Sinicisation of Islam.” He has been pressuring adherents of Islam, Buddhism and Christianity to become more loyal and prioritise their allegiance above everything to the Communist Party in recent years by advocating for the “Sinicisation” of these faiths. An Australian think-tank analysis estimated that since 2017, over two-thirds of Xinjiang’s mosques have suffered damage or have been completely destroyed.

Almost a million members of various Muslim minorities were imprisoned in re-education centres during Beijing’s severe security crackdown in Xinjiang in 2017, following a wave of violent ethnic riots, according to human rights organizations. A significant hub for the production of solar cells, the region has been marred by reports of enslaved labour.

China is charged with violating the human rights of over a million Uyghurs and other Muslim minorities and denying them religious freedom. The United States of America has even charged China with mass imprisonment, torture, forced labour, and Xinjiang genocide. Western countries have charged that China mistreated people in Xinjiang, destroying Uyghur cultural and religious sites, forcing labour, mass imprisonment, and forced sterilization. The Uyghurs are a predominantly Muslim ethnic minority in Xinjiang, numbering about ten million.

On 28th April last year, the Center for Uyghur Studies (CUS) released an extensive research paper spanning 88 pages. The paper focused on the policies of the Chinese government in East Turkestan, which is also referred to as the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China and highlighted the extent of the ruling Communist Party’s transnational war against Islam and the ensuing repression of Uyghur Muslims.

China’s campaign against Islam is documented in many different ways in the publication “Islamophobia in China and Attitudes of Muslim Countries.” It also discussed how Muslim countries have remained silent regarding China’s treatment of Uyghur Muslims in the province of Xinjiang or Chinese-occupied East Turkestan.
