Ghaziabad: Bahu Kavita plans with lover Irshad, gets Sasur Jaswant Sharma killed after making own son held at gunpoint

On July 17, a woman identified as Kavita, her lover identified as Irshad, and two others, Naushad and Sajid, were arrested by Ghaziabad Police for allegedly killing Kavita’s father-in-law 75-year-old Jaswant Sharma. Irshad, Naushad, and Sajid were arrested by the Police from Koyal Enclave. Reports suggest Irshad wanted money to celebrate Eid.

One more accused, Parvez, was arrested by the Police on Monday following an exchange of gunfire. As per reports, Parvez fired at Police while trying to evade the arrest in the early morning. The Police had fired back in self-defense, during which Parvez was shot in his leg. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sahibabad Abhijith R Shankar said, “Parvez was spotted on a black Splendor plus motorcycle near Banthla canal cut, Loni Road early Monday and when he was intercepted at a police checkpoint. He eventually opened fire while trying to evade arrest. In our investigation, we found that Parvez had absconded after the incident in Tila Mod on the motorcycle which is registered in the deceased son’s name.”

SP City Gyanendra said Jaswant was killed for the property. The house they were living in was worth Rs 1 crore. There were several godowns in the house that were rented out by Jaswant.

‘The murder of Jaswant Sharma was planned by his daughter-in-law Kavita’

As per the Police, Kavita was married to the eldest son of Jaswant Sharma. Seven years ago, her husband passed away. She was living with her in-laws, including Sharma’s other son Pankaj and his family, in a house in Pasauda. ASP (City-2) Gyanendra Kumar Singh said, “Our investigation has revealed that the eldest daughter-in-law of the deceased, Kavita, had planned the whole thing along with Irshad, her lover.”

Upon questioning Kavita, she admitted to planning the murder of her father-in-law and committed the crime with the help of her lover Irshad and Parvez. She further told the Police that the behavior of her father-in-law had changed post her husband’s death, and she was not happy with it. Two years ago, she met a taxi driver Parvez. In a case, Parvez was sent to prison, and his mobile was being used by Irshad during that time. Kavita started talking to Irshad and fell in love with him. They have been in a relationship for over 2 years.

When Jaswant came to know about frequent meetings between Kavita and Irshad, he objected to it. She claimed Jaswant refused to give any money to her and had declared that she won’t receive any share in the family property.

The Police found that on the intervening night of July 14 and July 15, all four men, Parvez, Irshad, Naushad, and Sajid, reached Jaswant’s house, where Kavita let them in. When Jaswant raised alarm, they tied him to the bed and beat him to death. To make it look like a case of robbery, Kavita had herself tied by the other accused. Then they robbed the house and fled from the crime scene. As per the Police, Kavita initially alleged that when she woke up, she noticed her hands and legs were tied. She had refused to have any knowledge of what had happened while she was asleep.

According to a report in Tricity Today, her son Tushar told the Police that some robbers had come to the house and taken him to another room at gunpoint. They stole jewellery worth one lakh and took away cash worth Rs 7,500. SSP Muniraj said Tushar had called 112 at around 2 AM. When the Police reached the crime scene, they found Jaswant’s dead body.

Pankaj filed a case against Kavita

As per a report in Tricity Today, Jaswant’s younger son Pankaj was not at home when the incident took place. Kavita had called him and asked to return at the earliest. When Pankaj came back and got stock of the whole situation, he filed a complaint against Kavita as he had a suspicion that she was involved in the incident.

An FIR under Sections 394 (voluntary causing hurt in committing robbery) and 302 (punishment for murder) was registered against the accused based on Pankaj’s complaint. Further, Sections 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit an offense punishable with imprisonment), 396 (dacoity with murder), 120B (punishment for criminal conspiracy), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of a common intention) and 412 (Dishonestly receiving property stolen in the commission of a dacoity) of the IPC were added to the FIR.

In his complaint, he had stated that some unidentified men had forcefully entered his house. They tied up Jaswant and beat him severely. Jaswant succumbed to the injury he sustained during the beating. Kavita was also present in the house at the time of the incident and claimed that the men who murdered her father-in-law took away jewellery and cash. However, during the investigation, the Police found that there were no signs of forced entry.

SIM card helped Police in solving the case

During the investigation, Police found a SIM card in Kavita’s room. When they asked her about it, she refused to have any knowledge about the SIM. The Police got hold of the call details of the number and found that a particular number was called multiple times on the night of the incident. From there, the investigation revealed the role of Kavita in the murder.

Upon arrest, Ghaziabad Police recovered bangles, earrings, two gold coins, mangalsutra, Rs 5,600 in cash, three mobile phones, and a motorcycle from the accused. From Parvez, the Police recovered an illegal 315 bore pistol, live cartridges, a bike, and some jewellery.

Patna Police bust PFI group with links to Pakistan, Bangladesh: ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ group was created to radicalize Muslims, glorify Islamic terrorism

On July 16, Patna Police arrested a member of the Popular Front of India (PFI) identified as Margoob Ahmad Danish alias Tahir from Munir Colony at Saguna More under the Rupaspur Police station area. As per the Police, he has connections with the terrorists from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Yemen, and Gulf countries. Notably, Phulwari Sharif, which is located on the outskirts of Patna, has a sizeable Muslim population. There are several madrasas and old mosques.

Margoob had studied in a Madarsa in the Phulwari Sharif area. Later, he went to Dubai and stayed there for 12 years. After returning from Dubai, he started teaching Quran to local youth. He was a member of a WhatsApp group named ‘Ghazwa-e-Hind’ and used the Pakistani flag on the map of India as its icon. The FIR registered against Margoob read, “This group provides information about Ghazwa-E Hind, the persecution of all Muslims and also gives information about all the special events in the world.”

Furthermore, this anti-India WhatsApp group was started in Pakistan with a Pakistani handler. The members of this group were from Pakistan, Yemen, and other Islamic countries. In the group, the members regularly shared acts of Islamic terrorism and glorified the terrorists. They provoked young members of the group to establish an Islamic nation in India.

One of the messages in the group read, “I urge the Muslims of Bangladesh to prepare for the conquest of India.” They also urged the members of the Muslim community not to observe Hindu traditions and culture. A call for boycotting Indian products was also made. Interestingly, the group also talked against AIMIM and urged the young Muslims not to support the political party.

Margoob was active on different social media platforms. He created three groups on WhatsApp to spread Islamic propaganda. In one of the groups, there were 181 members, while the other two had 10 and 11 members, respectively. Margoob has over 2,000 followers on Facebook, and he actively posts anti-India material on the social media platform.

In one of the posts, he wrote, “India will finish. The name of my Nabi will rule everywhere. Insha Allah, Insha Allah.” He also used to share anti-India and Jihadi posts from others. He was a member of the ‘India will finish’ movement on social media platforms.

While searching his social media accounts and gadgets, Police found that he had posted anti-India posts on June 12 he had posted urging his followers to ‘Boycott India.’ In that post, he had used an image of the Indian National Flag with a cross over it. He had urged the followers to boycott Indian products and show their love for ‘Nabi.’

The Police also noticed a Pakistani number saved as ‘Markhob’ on his mobile. The Police are investigating if the owner of the number is operating from Pakistan or if someone from India is using it.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said, “Videos from Kashmir terrorism and those from civil unrest in countries, including Syria, as well as videos of purported suppression of minorities were posted in the WhatsApp group with the aim to instigate people. Most numbers associated with the WhatsApp group were using pseudo or fake names, the investigation to identify them will go on. We will take the help of sister security agencies to probe the terror funding angle.”

Multiple training centres for Islamists

A Dainik Bhaskar report suggests that the accused have told the Police that PFI has opened offices in 12 districts in the state. The raids at these places are underway. Athar and Armaan, who were arrested recently, revealed the details of PFI’s plan to train the Muslim youth on how to use weapons. The Police have formed eight teams to investigate the sleeper cell modules. On Sunday, Police raided different locations, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Purnia, East Champaran, Motihari, Saran, Darbhanga, and others.

Allahabad HC refuses to quash FIR against man who abused PM Modi, says Freedom of speech does not include hurling abuses

The Allahabad HC Friday (July 15) refused to quash an FIR filed against a person for allegedly making derogatory remarks against PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other central ministers. While dismissing the petition filed by Mumtaz Mansoori to quash an FIR registered against him, the Court observed that “freedom of speech does not include hurling abuses.”

“Although the constitution of this country recognises freedom of speech with every citizen such right does not extend to hurling abuses or making derogatory remarks against any citizen much less the Prime Minister or other Ministers of the Government of India,” the bench of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra and Justice Rajendra Kumar-IV observed.

According to the FIR filed against the petitioner Mumtaz Mansoori, he had made “highly derogatory remarks” (calling them dogs) against PM Modi, HM Amit Shah and some other Union Minister from his Facebook account.

He was charged under IPC section 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and section 67 of the IT Act (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form).

Subsequently, a case was registered against Mumtaz MAnsoori at the Meerganj police station of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh. Mumtaz then moved the Allahabad HC challenging the FIR filed against him.

However, while refusing to quash the FIR, the bench observed: “ The First Information Report clearly discloses commissioning of cognizable offence. We find no good ground to interfere in the present writ petition filed with a prayer to quash such First Information Report…Authorities shall be at liberty to proceed in the matter in accordance with law and conclude investigation at the earliest.”

Telangana: Chief Minister KCR peddles conspiracy theories, claims ‘foreign hand’ in Godavari floods

On Sunday (July 17), Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao claimed that ‘foreign entities’ had triggered floods in the Godavari region of the State, with the aim to ‘destabilise India’.

He made the bizarre claim during a public address in Bhadrachalam town in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of the State. While addressing a group of people, whose lives were turned upside down by the natural disaster, KCR alleged the role of cloudburst in triggering the floods.

“There is this new phenomenon called cloudburst. This is what happened in the Godavari region which caused the flood. There are reports that these cloudbursts are a conspiracy by foreign sources. They first did a cloudburst in Leh-Ladakh, then in Uttarakhand, and now in the Godavari region,” he claimed.

“There are theories that these cloudbursts are being done to destabilise the country,” KCR suggested. His remarks come at a time when more than 10 people have died at different places due to rain-related incidents.

KCR’s bizarre theory has also drawn the ire of the Opposition. While reacting to the development, Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar described his remarks as the ‘joke of the century.’ He also accused the Telangana Chief Minister of enacting drama to hide his failures and divert people’s attention.

Floods in the Godavari region

The Godavari river has witnessed a sudden rise in its water level, due to incessant rain in the region. As per residents, it has been the worst episode of flooding since 1986. Despite this, the Kadem dam, built on the Godavari tributary, was able to withstand the floods.

The natural disaster has affected people in low-lying areas. The flood victims were shifted to relief camps. Meanwhile, the Telangana government has vowed to provide ₹10,000 to affected families to tide over the situation.

A sum of ₹10,000 has also been allocated to build housing colonies on higher ground.

Voting for the next President of India begins, Over 4,800 MPs & MLAs to cast votes on green and pink ballot papers

Voting for the next president of India will take place today since President Ram Nath Kovind will vacate his office on July 24. The Election Commission set the date for the presidential election on June 15 of this year. Some 4,800 MPs and MLAs will cast ballots on Monday to choose India’s 15th President.

MLAs will receive a pink ballot paper to vote on, while MPs will receive a green ballot paper, according to the Election Commission. Separate colours make it easier for the returning officer to calculate how much each MLA and MP’s vote is worth. The EC has also provided violet-ink-specific pens for voters to use to annotate their ballots in the presidential election in order to ensure voting confidentially.

Ballot boxes have already arrived at Parliament House and state legislative assembly, where voting will take place between 10 AM and 5 PM. On July 21, the ballots will be counted, and on July 25, the newly elected President of India will take the oath of office. It should be noted that through their elected representatives, the Indian people indirectly elect the country’s president.

Members of state legislative assemblies and elected members of the House of Representatives make up the electoral college, which chooses the president using a proportional representation system. Nominated MPs and MLAs as well as members of legislative councils are ineligible to cast ballots in this election.

The votes are weighted, with the value calculated by the population of each state as per the 1971 Census. The value of each MLA’s vote ranges from 208 in Uttar Pradesh to 7 in Sikkim. This indicates that the 403 MLAs from Uttar Pradesh provide 208 403 = 83,824 votes to the electoral pool, whereas the 32 MLAs from Sikkim contribute 32 7 = 224 votes. The weighted votes from all Assemblies total 5.43 lakh.

The mechanism requires that the 776 MPs (543 in Lok Sabha and 233 in Rajya Sabha) cast the same number of votes as the MLAs. As a result, the value of each MP’s vote is 5.43 lakh divided by 776, rounded to 700. The total electoral base of the Assemblies and Parliament is 10.86 lakh.

If all MLAs and MPs in the NDA coalition vote for Draupadi Murmu, the NDA’s current Presidential candidate, she might receive up to 6.67 lakh votes as she has garnered support from several regional parties in the elections. Odisha CM and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has declared support for Ms Murmu, as has Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, though both parties are not in an alliance with the NDA.

Murmu has a strong lead against Opposition nominee Yashwant Sinha, with more than 60% of the vote predicted to go to her. If elected, she will be the first tribal woman to hold the country’s highest constitutional position.

Meet Ahmed Patel, the Gandhi family loyalist who hired Teesta Setalvad to work against Narendra Modi, as per SIT

The recent revelation by the Special Investigation Team, which has been investigating allegations of evidence fabrication in the 2002 Gujarat riots case, that a political conspiracy against Narendra Modi was hatched at the behest of former Congress leader Ahmed Patel, has opened several fronts for discussion and allegations against the former Congress leader and Gandhi family loyalist. ‘Activist’ Teesta Setalvad allegedly collected about Rs. 30 lakhs from Ahmed Patel, according to the SIT.

Ahmed Patel, former MP and a close ally of Congress President Sonia Gandhi died in November 2020 after suffering Covid infection, although controversies surrounding him persist. This recent affidavit by the SIT discloses one such controversy. In this article, we will look at how Ahmed Patel came to hold such importance in the Congress party.

Ahmed Patel’s entry into politics

Ahmed Patel was born in the Piraman village of Anklesvar Taluka in Gujarat’s Bharuch district in 1949. In his early days, he was a member of the Youth Congress. In 1976, Patel began his political career by contesting local body elections in Gujarat’s Bharuch district. At the age of 28, Patel declared his entry onto the national political landscape. He was chosen by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to contest Bharuch in the 1977 elections for the sixth Lok Sabha.

The Congress was stunned by the 1977 Lok Sabha election because Indira Gandhi had lost her Raebareli pocket-borough. Ahmed Patel, however, won the Bharuch seat in this situation and affirmed his allegiance to Indira Gandhi, keeping the Congress flag flying in Gujarat.

He was chosen to serve in the sixth, seventh, and eighth Lok Sabhas before losing two elections in the Ram Janmabhoomi campaign in 1989. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in March 1977. From 1993 till his death in 2020, he served five consecutive terms as the State’s representative in the Rajya Sabha. Patel was the only Muslim elected as a Lok Sabha MP in Gujarat after Ehsan Jafri.

Closeness to the Gandhi family

Ahmed Patel underwent a complete transition from a Congress leader to the Man Friday of the Gandhi family under Rajiv Gandhi’s leadership. Rajiv Gandhi gave Congress a remarkable young personality. Patel served as Rajiv Gandhi’s parliamentary secretary and close confidante from 1985 until 1986.

Two major developments worked out well for Ahmed Patel. First, Rajiv Gandhi appointed him as Congress General Secretary. Second, Rajiv Gandhi delegated to Ahmed Patel the task of readying the Jawahar Bhavan in New Delhi for the centennial celebrations of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth in 1989. He developed a deep bond with the entire Congress family while working on the Jawahar Bhavan project, nearly to the point of being considered as a part of the family.

Patel was nonetheless demoted within the Congress following Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination in 1991. Sonia Gandhi had declined to enter active politics, and Ahmed Patel was one of the many known faces of the Congress Working Committee under PV Narasimha Rao, whose opinions carried little weight in final decision-making. It is said that during this period, he became closer to Sonia Gandhi.

Becoming a Sonia Gandhi loyalist

Ahmed Patel was appointed Sonia Gandhi’s political adviser in 2001. After Sonia Gandhi gained control of the Congress and focused on the 2004 Lok Sabha election, Patel became the key figure and a master tactician. In 2009, the duo of Sonia Gandhi and Ahmed Patel won another election.

For the Gandhi family, Patel has managed political infighting, particularly in Rajasthan, as well as the fallout from the letter from 23 party leaders asking for a thorough overhaul of the party’s leadership. He defended the Gandhis from assaults from both inside and outside the party as he stood behind them. He served as the Gandhis’ chief negotiator in each crisis situation.

Congress leaders depended on Patel as a listening ear because the party president was rarely available for a personal encounter. Patel had a crucial role as a problem solver, coordinator, and mediator between the government and the party from 2004 to 2014 under the UPA government. He was regarded as a part of the senior leadership of the Congress party due to his closeness to the party’s president, Sonia Gandhi. According to accounts, Patel’s phone calls had more weight than those of any other UPA cabinet minister.

When Congress lost Gujarat to save Ahmed Patel’s Rajya Sabha seat

In 2017, Gujarat was witnessing Rajya Sabha elections for the first time since 1996 as they were always uncontested. Three Rajya Sabha seats were up for reelection in Gujarat and it had 4 contenders. One of the seats was of Ahmed Patel. The other two seats up for grabs were being contested by Amit Shah and Smriti Irani of the BJP, both heavyweights in their own way. Their victory was almost certain. BJP has fielded Balwantsinh Rajput, former Chief Whip of Gujarat Congress in the assembly against Ahmed Patel.

Gujarat Congress originally had 57 MLAs. Of these, 6 had resigned and joined the BJP. Congress abandoned Gujarat in order to secure the RS seat at any cost. Gujarat was ravaged by floods, one of the worst in a decade, as the Congress MLAs dined on buffet breakfasts at an opulent resort in Congress-ruled Karnataka. One of the areas in Banaskantha most severely affected by the floods was Dhanera. Their Congress MLA Joitabhai Patel was one of 44 MLAs touring Bangalore.

The state assembly elections were just a few months away when this took place. For the sake of saving one Rajya Sabha seat, Gujarat Congress put the whole state of Gujarat, which had elections the same year, at risk. But did Congress do it all for Ahmed Patel? No, rather it was to shield Sonia Gandhi’s face as if Ahmed Patel lost, Sonia Gandhi would be considered a loser, and was likely to lose much of her hold in the party.

Ahmed Patel’s name also popped up in the AugustaWestland scam. Rajiv Saxena, a key witness turned approver in the Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland helicopter fraud, reportedly identified Patel as one of the politicians accused of receiving payments in the chopper deal.

Ahmed Patel was regarded by Sonia Gandhi as an “irreplaceable companion” as he was a go-to man whenever Congress was in crisis.

USA: Transwoman shifted out of women’s prison after ‘she’ impregnates two female prisoners through consensual sex

In yet another example of unprecedented problems created by the woke culture in the west, a transwoman had to shifted from a women’s prison in the United States of America because ‘she’ had impregnated two woman lodged in the same jail. The incident happened at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in New Jersey, where the jail authorities confirmed that the prisoner has been shifted to a prison meant for men.

While the jail authorities didn’t reveal the reason behind shifting a ‘transwoman’ to a men’s jail, the same prisoner had come into limelight earlier this year for making two women pregnant. In April 2022, it was found that two women incarcerated at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility — the state’s only female prison — have become pregnant after having consensual sex with a transgender inmate. The so-called transwoman prisoner is identified as Demi Minor (age 27). The two women ‘she’ bad impregnated are identified as Dimitrius Minor and Latonia Bellamy.

The Department of Corrections (DOC) informed that Demi Minor was earlier lodged in Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women and now, ‘she’ has been moved to Garden State Youth Correctional Facility, a prison for young adult offenders in Burlington County.

According to a report by the NJ News, Dan Sperrazza, a Department of Corrections spokesman told that Minor was sent to the facility’s most vulnerable section, where ‘she’ is currently the only ‘female’ prisoner on the premises. Sperrazza said he couldn’t comment on the DOC’s particular housing measures in Minor’s case due to privacy restrictions. According to DOC, Minor is serving a 30-year term for manslaughter and will be eligible for release in 2037.

‘She’ and ‘her’ counsel did not give any comment on the issue. However, according to a July 5 post on Minor’s website, DOC authorities forcibly pulled ‘her’ from Edna Mahan and assaulted ‘her’ while taking her to Garden State Youth Correctional Facility. This transfer was done three months after Minor impregnated two women during consensual sexual relationships in the women’s jail. The DOC stated that it cannot comment on the accusations but is investigating things.

In ‘her’ website, ‘she’ admited that she had consensual sex with the two biological female prisoners, and alleged that they were separated after the two women became pregnant. It is notable that consensual sex is not allowed in the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women.

An official statement regarding this read, “New Jersy Department of Corrections (NJDOC) cannot comment on any active investigations. The Department has zero tolerance for abuse, and the safety and security of the incarcerated population and staff are of critical importance.”

DOC spokesperson Dan Sperrazza also told, “The department is currently reviewing the policy for housing transgender incarcerated persons with the intention of implementing minor modifications. The decisions related to an incarcerated person’s housing are made within the parameters of the settlement agreement which requires consideration of gender identity and the health and safety of the individual.”

When Demi Minor was sent to jail, she was a 16-year-old boy who was found guilty of a murder and a carjacking. Demetrius Minor had killed his foster father, 69-year-old Theotis Butts, in July 2011. He had pleaded guilty of the crime, along with a carjacking case in the same year. As a result, he was awarded a 30-year jail sentence. Demetrius Minor started to transition to woman in jail in 2020, and thereafter ‘she’ was transferred from a male prison to Edna Mahan. She also changed her name from Demetrius to Demi to reflect her new assumed gender.

It is notable that while Demi Minor is a transwoman, she was able to impregnate two biological woman. It means that ‘she’ is essentially a man identifying ‘himself’ as a woman but not yet undergone any sex change surgery or treatment. Due to pressure from LGBTQ+ movement, in several countries across the world and in many states in USA, trans-people are allowed to assume a different gender without any physical and medical procedure to change their gender. This has created problems that were not seen earlier. Now man claiming to be woman, without any physical change, can use women’s restrooms, are lodged in women’s prisons in case of conflict with law, etc.

In 2021, New Jersey had adopted a new policy under which it was decided that transgender convicted will be lodged in jails as per their chosen gender identity. Demi Minor was kept in the women’s prison under this policy. However, the state is already having second thoughts about this decision, as the New Jersey Department of Correction said that it intends to review and change the policy. The policy came up for review because it was implemented for only one year starting in June last year. While the nature of the change in the policy is now known yet, unions of prison officers are demanding that only those trans inmates should be allocated jail based on their chosen gender those who have undergone gender reassignment procedures.

This demand has intensified after the Demi Minor episode. William Sullivan, president of New Jersey Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 105, which represents correctional police, said the union would prefer that transgender prisoners who are housed in women’s facilities should be taking gender transition medication. However, civil liberty groups are insisting on continuance of the current policy, saying that keeping convicts based on their gender at the birth could lead to discrimination, harassment and violence.

‘I dig deeper than gold, prefer diamonds, and buy them myself’: Sushmita Sen pens a heartfelt note over her relationship with Lalit Modi

Former Miss Universe and Bollywood actress Sushmita Sen wrote a heartfelt note on her relationship with fugitive Indian businessman Lalit Modi, after she was accused of being ‘gold digger’ by some social media users. Sushmita Sen was targeted by many social media users after Lalit Modi made their relationship public. Giving a reply to the judgmental comments like ‘gold digger’ and other jibes, Sushmita Sen posted a picture on her Instagram handle on Sunday, 17th July 2022 with a heartfelt note about what she thinks of her relationship and how she looks at the cheap comments. Sushmita Sen wrote, “I dig deeper than Gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred Diamonds!! And yes I still buy them myself!!!”

On Thursday, 14th July 2022, Former IPL commissioner and fugitive Indian businessman Lalit Modi announced on social media that he is dating Bollywood actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen. Modi, who has been living in exile in London ever since BCCI ousted him, shared the news on Instagram and Twitter. Soon after the news broke, many social media users started criticizing and passing cheap comments on Sushmita Sen for dating a person accused of cases regarding financial irregularities. Many netizens alleged that Sushmita Sen has established the relation with Lalit Modi only for his money.

A Twitter handle @Chacha_Nehru tweeted, “Yet Another Example Of “Girls Are Gold-digger”. All want money in their life. They will love anyways.”

Another Twitter user Aslam Malik wrote, “I usually frown upon sexist caricatures but Sushmita Sen did rein force the trope of the gold digger with a party face whose looks are fading so she needs to honey trap a rich old uncle asap because botox can only go so far.”

Replying to such comments through her Instagram post, Sushmita Sen wrote, “Perfectly centered in my being & my conscience…I love how nature merges all its creations to experience oneness and just how divided we are when we break that balance. It’s heartbreaking to see just how miserable & unhappy the world around us is becoming. The so-called intellectuals with their idiosyncrasies, the ignorant with their cheap & at times funny gossip. The friends I never had & the acquaintances I’ve never met. all sharing their grand opinions & deep knowledge of my life & character monetizing the ‘Gold Digger’ all the way!!!”

Sushmita Sen further said in her post, “Ah these geniuses!!! I dig deeper than Gold…and I’ve always (famously) preferred Diamonds!! And yes I still buy them myself!!!”

Sushmita Sen added in her post that she loves all the support she gets from the well-wishers and told them that she is absolutely fine. Sushmita Sen did not forget to reiterate her capacities by saying that she never lived on the transient borrowed light of approval & applause.

It is notable that, with this post, Sushmita Sen also confirmed her relationship with Lalit Modi. Earlier Modi had said that they are dating each other, and will marry soon.

It is notable that the allegations of being ‘gold digger’ against Sushmita Sen for her relationship with Lalit Modi does not hold, because she herself is a successful model and actor. After missing from movies for some years, she has made a spectacular comeback on OTT shows.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor grants sanction to CBI to prosecute AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan in corruption case

Lieutenant Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi VK Saxena has granted prosecution sanction to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to proceed against Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan in the matter of unlawful appointments resulting in damage to the public coffers.

With the LG’s approval, CBI will proceed against him for illegal appointments while he was chairman Waqf Board, causing loss to exchequer. The AAP MLA from Okhla assembly has been booked by CBI under prevention of corruption act and other relevant sections of the IPC. Khan is also accused of corrupt actions and criminal offences including deliberate and criminal violation of rules, regulations, and misuse of position.

Apart from Amanatullah Khan, approval has also been granted to proceed against Mehboob Alam, then CEO of Waqf Board, for criminal violation of rules, misused of position, causing loss to the public exchequer and other relevant sections.

The case against Khan was filed by Sub-divisional magistrate in the revenue depart of the Delhi govt in 2016, alleging illegal appointments in the Waqf Board, causing loss of public money. Following the complaint, the CBI had lodged an FIR in 2016. Reportedly, CBI has probed the matter and found substantial evidence against the AAP MLA, after which the CBI sought the permission from LG to proceed against him.

According to the complaint, the CEO of the new waqf board and over 30 staff members were appointed and employed in contravention of Section 24 of the Waqf Act, 1955 and Delhi Waqf Rules, 1977. The FIR stated that irregular and illegal appointment of officials had led to the loss of revenue of Delhi Waqf Board , and the appointments were done by misusing their official positions as public servants. It was alleged that waqf board properties were leased to the tenants and the encroachers were allowed to possess the properties in contravention of lease rules leading to the loss of revenue/assets for the board.

Khan has a spotty record of disparaging comments and unlawful conduct. Several FIRs have been filed against him, and he is being tried in the majority of them. Amanatullah Khan had threatened Swamy Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, the main abbot of Dasna Temple, with violence in April 2021 for remarks about Prophet Muhammad. Khan was also declared a BC by Delhi Police earlier this year.

In 2020, Khan was in news for allegedly facilitating the settlement of Rohingya Muslims in Delhi’s Madnapur Khadar. Over 300 Rohingya Muslims were illegally settled in the Madanpur Khadar area of Delhi and are expanding their base, a report by Dainik Bhaskar said. The report also added that they were living illegally right across the cremation ground in the Madanpur Khadar area of the national capital. Moreover, they were settled on the land of the irrigation department of the Uttar Pradesh government which is about 5.2 acres of land.

As per the report, they received all government benefits as well. Amid the lockdown, the Delhi Government and Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan have been providing a huge amount of rations to them. Madanpur Khadar falls under the Okhla constituency in New Delhi. As per the report, the illegal settlement of Rohingya Muslims had also stolen electricity through illegal means and also have boring water.

Amanatullah Khan was also seen with Sharjeel Imam, the mastermind of the Shaheen Bagh protests who had urged Muslims to cut off North East India from the rest of the country. Sharjeel Imam is now rotting in prison. An FIR was also registered by Ghaziabad Police against Khan for inciting violence through his social media posts. It is also alleged that Khan made an inflammatory speech before violence broke out at Jamia Milia on the 15th of December in 2020.

Patna PFI crackdown: Accused Islamist planning to turn India into Islamic State shortlist these three media houses as preferred propaganda channels

On July 14, Bihar Police arrested two individuals identified as Mohammad Jallaluddin and Athar Parvez. While Jallaludin is a former Police officer, Athar Parvez is a member of the Popular Front of India (PFI) and its political arm Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI). Both Jallaluddin and Athar trained a large group of locals on how to use swords and knives under the pretext of martial arts training. They also instigated the crowd with religiously violent statements.

During the investigation, the Police got hold of an 8-page document that underlines the PFI plan for the years ahead. In the document titled ‘India Vision 2047’, they aim to completely dominate the ‘coward Hindus’ and subjugate them, and this goal will be achievable even with 10% of Muslims rallying behind PFI. The document was circulated by PFI internally among its cadre.

‘Only NDTV, The Wire, and BBC allowed’

Blogger and Swayamsewak Ravi Ranjan shared a photograph of the place where they allegedly trained the locals on how to use swords and knives. One particular handwritten poster showed how media might have been playing an unsaid or behind-the-drapes role in whitewashing the criminal acts of these organizations and individuals.

The poster read, “Only Allowed NDTV, The Wire and BBC.” It is noteworthy that these media houses have been repeatedly accused of whitewashing the crimes of Islamists. They often project them as someone who picked the arms because they were oppressed or show the “other” side of the individuals by painting them as “son of a headmaster,” “an engineer,” “shy boy,” or “someone who loves cricket” and more.

How BBC publish misleading reports to whitewash anti-Hindu and Islamist crimes

First, let’s discuss some of the instances where the BBC whitewashed criminal acts in a very non-subtle way. In 2019, BBC published an article in which they painted the convicted former IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt as the whistleblower in Gujarat 2002 case. Furthermore, they bluntly lied about the 59 Karsewaks who lost their lives in the attack by Islamists.

When Bhatt was arrested in 2019, BBC tried to project as if it was related to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. In reality, it was about the custodial death that happened much before the 2002 riots. In the same article, they claimed that the reason for the fire that killed 59 Karsewaks was not clear. However, in 2011, BBC itself reported that the train was attacked by a Muslim mob.

In March this year, BBC published a report on the film The Kashmir Files. In the report, they took interviews of selective people who were not only opposed to the current regime, but some of them were linked to other political parties. BBC conveniently forgot to mention the political affiliation of the interviewees and showcased them as general Kashmiri Pandits. When caught, BBC issued a clarification suggesting they did not know or sought to know if they were affiliated to any political party and gave themselves clean chit.

NDTV tries hard not to ‘blame’ Islamists for any crime

The most recent example where NDTV openly attempted to save Islamists was a TV debate that aired last month. Channel journalist Vishnu Som recently courted controversy after he claimed that speaking about Islamic terrorism can hurt the sentiments of common Muslims.

During a debate hosted by Som on the ongoing Nupur Sharma saga, lawyer and co-panelist Desh Ratan Nigam alleged, “95% of the declared terrorists are from Islam. And 95% of terrorist organizations are from Islam.” He had cited the United Nations to bolster his claims.

“So do we, therefore, typecast everybody who is Muslims (billions of them exist around the world)?” the NDTV journalist defended. “So it is not the BJP that is creating the facts,” Nigam pointed out.

In another incident, while reporting about the anti-Hindu Delhi Riots of 2020, NDTV bluntly whitewashed how a Muslim-owned school was used as an attack base by Islamists. They had painted the Hindus as the aggressors while the ground reality was completely different. Rajdhani school, which was owned by a Muslim, Faisal Farukh, had supplies including stones, petrol bombs, acid packets, and even country-made grenades on its rooftop.

The Wire’s role in whitewashing Islamist crimes

NDTV was not the only one to whitewash Islamist crimes during the anti-Hindu riots of 2020 in Delhi. In a report, The Wire claimed that the school that was gutted during riots was owned by Muslims, and Hindus were the aggressors. This, however, was a lie. The Rajdhani school was a Muslim-owned school that was used as a base to launch attacks, and it was the DRP school, owned by a Hindu, which was completely gutted by the Muslim mob.

In 2019, The Wire interviewed now-jailed Umar Khalid to whitewash the murder of Kamlesh Tiwari. Umar Khalid, while pontificating about how Muslims are peaceful victims being vilified by Hindus after the Kamlesh Tiwari murder, categorically said during the interview that the Muslim community could not ignore an insult against the Prophet of Islam just because the insult did not result in physical harm. To him, an insult to the Prophet of Islam is the same as a physical attack. He further said that Muslims need to fight for their self-respect because an insult against the Prophet of Islam is an attack on Muslim self-respect, and while today it is just an insult, tomorrow it will turn into a physical assault on Muslims.

On multiple occasions, The Wire’s owner Siddharth Varadarajan has tried to whitewash the crimes of Islamists who burnt the train in Godhra, resulting in the death of innocent Hindu Karsewaks. He has been doing this since the riots happened in 2002. A detailed analysis of his write-ups can be seen here.

The media is always biased

If ethics of journalism are to be followed, media should never be biased. The journalists cannot take sides. But the scenario in real life is different. There are many media houses, including the three preferred by the arrested Islamists, who often try to whitewash their crimes and paint them as oppressed and weak. In reality, the vested interests of these media houses and the way they had control over the governments make them do things that are deemed against the ethics of journalism. After all, who can forget the famous interview of Barkha Dutt where she expressed her pain that media personalities and journalists no longer have access to the inside news of the government. Of course, they have to run their propaganda to get hold of the positions that they have lost.
