A congress leader has been arrested and booked under National Security Act (NSA) on Saturday for attacking and blackening the face of a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) during a blockade in Chhindwara district in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the reports, more than 20 Congress workers were booked under NSA after one of them blackened the face of an official during a protest seeking compensation for damaged caused by recent floods in Chhindwara district.
A case was registered under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Congress leader Bunty Patel and 20 others based on a complaint lodged by Chhindwara SDM CP Patel. Former Congress MLA Chaudhary Gambhir Singh, who had participated in the protest, has also been named in the FIR.
Reportedly, Congress leader Bunty Patel was already facing more than eight criminal cases for voluntarily causing hurt, riots and others.
According to the police, Bunty Patel attacked the SDM and blackened his face. The police said that Bunty Patel, who claims to be a leader of farmers, had come to gherao the SDM office in Chaurai with others, demanding compensation for flood-affected people on Friday.
SDM CP Patel had come to accept the memorandum but Bunty attacked the SDM and his supporters manhandled the officer and also blackened the face of the SDM, said Vivek Agrawal, superintendent of police, Chhindwara.
A few protestors also started pelting stones at the police and administrative officers and attempt to stop the arrest of Bunty Patel. The Police had to resort to using force to control the situation.
SDM CP Patel, who was attacked by the Congress workers said, “Bunty Patel tried to kill me by strangulating my throat. I was assuring them that soon we would complete the survey and release the compensation but they didn’t listen to me. He had come with a plan to attack me.”
Bureaucrats protests against attack on officers, demand security
Following the attack on officers by the Congress workers, 400 officers including the deputy collector, SDM, revenue officers and others of state administrative services (SAS) sat on an indefinite strike on Saturday demanding security for officers from such anti-social elements.
“It is the matter of security of SAS officers especially those who are working in the field to maintain law and order. The state government should provide proper security to us during the protests and also provide permission to use beacon light so that people treat us with respect,” said Chhindwara SDM Atul Singh.
A day after actress Payal Ghosh accused director Anurag Kashyap of sexual assault, several ‘feminists’ nad ‘liberals’ took to Twitter to blame the victim and absolve him of all allegations.
‘Feminist’ and women’s right champion, Taapsee Pannu, came up with a befitting reply. In an Instagram post, she declared the accused as the ‘biggest feminist’. Hailing his work for promoting the cause of ‘women empowerment’, the actress wrote, “See you on the sets soon of yet another piece of art that shows how powerful and significant women are in the world you create :)”
Ironically, Taapsee had earlier not been as kind to other men who were accused of similar charges.

Congress worker Pankhuri Pathak retweeted the ‘victim-blaming’ tweet of Vinod Kapri and weaved a political conspiracy behind the allegations. “It’s a matter of coincidence that Anurag Kashyap shows mirror to BJP-propagandist Kangana Ranaut and in just two days, an unknown actress files charges against him.” Dubbing the victim as an ‘unknown actress’ and the incident a ploy of the BJP, Pankhuri further stated, “Not only this, the actress is a big fan of Narendra Modi and BJP leader Paresh Rawal. One coincidence after another…” This was retweeted by Anurag Kashyap himself.

While fellow director and friend Anubhav Singh did not tweet anything in support of Kashyap, he retweeted the accused’s tweet wherein he gave himself a clean chit. Anurag Kashyap had tweeted, “I neither behave in this manner nor tolerate such behaviour under any circumstances. We will see whatever happens now.” The accused director had then questioned the victim’s integrity and said, “We can see how honest is your testimony in the video. Much love and prayers for you (Payal Ghosh). Sorry for responding to your allegations in Hindi.”

Congress Youth worker, Srivatsa insinuated that one would be hounded like Anurag Kashyap if he dared to raise voice against the ‘injustice’.

In a nefarious move, the Chinese intelligence agencies have reportedly been trying to mount pressure on rebel leaders in Nagaland in a bid to delay the Naga Peace deal with the Indian government.
As per reports, the Chinese regime has been trying to create unrest in the North East by roping in the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) (Isak-Muivah) General Secretary Thuingaleng Muivah. The Indian Intelligence agencies have cautioned that China had been spying on over 10,000 Indian organisations and individuals using a global database and also inciting ‘internal unrest’ to halt the Naga peace deal process.
Muviah raked up minor issues to stall peace deal
The Indian security agencies have revealed that the Chinese intelligence wanted Thuingaleng Muviah to delay the peace process and that the Centre had prior inputs about such a development. Interestingly, Muviah had initially agreed on all major issues but began delaying the peace process by raking up minor and irrelevant issues about the interlocutor, during the Galwan Valley clash in mid-June.

NSCN (I-M) also demanded a separate flag and a separate constitution during negotiations in the month of June. This is despite the fact that such frivolous demands were ‘outrightly rejected’ by the Centre in October last year. Reportedly, the rebel leaders have a strong connection with China as they have been taking refuge in the Communist-ruled country since 1966, prior to the signing of the ceasefire agreement.
Earlier, it was revealed in 2017, based on conclusive intelligence reports, that the NSCN leaders were meeting Chinese leaders in Ruli and Kunming in the Yunnan province of Southern China. The Indian Home Ministry had expressed concerns about Chinese involvement with insurgency groups in Northeast India.
NSCN (I-M) condemns report, linking it to Chinese regime
On Saturday, the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Isak-Muivah) condemned the Indian intelligence agencies for referring its General Secretary as ‘Chinese factor.’ Refuting links with the Chinese regime as ‘wild media speculations’, the party stated, “We believe this is the handiwork of suspicious mindset emanating from panic analysis of Indo-Naga political talks led by NSCN talk team with general secretary Th. Muivah as the chief negotiator.”
It further reiterated the need for mutual faith and respect to take the peace deal to a conclusion. NSCN (I-M) emphasised, “But for all-purpose, this is not the right time to throw in unhealthy opinions with the ulterior motive to fracture the hard-earned peace process when the propitious moment is round the corner.”
Naga Peace Deal
Negotiations between the NSCN (I-M) and the Indian government began 23 years ago. However, it was only in August 2015 that the Centre reportedly signed a Framework Agreement to settle issues with NSCN (I_M). The Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) also joined the peace negotiations as late as 2017 via the ‘Deed of Commitment’ agreement.
One of the demands of NSCN (I-M) is the formation of a Greater Nagalim, comprising Naga inhabited areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Manipur apart from the entire Nagaland. People and governments of these three states strongly oppose the proposal, and the government of India has also not accepted that demand.
The Narendra Modi government has informed the parliament that 97 people died on-board Shramik Specials trains deployed by the centre to ferry migrant workers out of which nearly 60 people lost lives due to their pre-existing diseases and ailments.
In a written reply [pdf] to a question posed by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien in Rajya Sabha on Friday, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal provided the data on the number of people died on these special trains.
“Based on the data provided by State Police, 97 persons have been reported dead till 09.09.2020 while travelling onboard Shramik Special Trains during current Covid-19 situation/crisis,” the minister said.
The Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that out of the 97 cases of death, the state police had sent dead bodies for post mortem in 87 cases.
The Railway Minister categorically stated that a total of 51 postmortem reports obtained from respective state police forces so far, showed that the reasons for their deaths were either as cardiac arrest/heart disease/brain haemorrhage/pre-existing chronic disease/chronic lung disease/chronic liver disease etc.
The Railway minister’s forthcoming response on the nature of the death of these migrants on-board Shramik trains comes as an extremely important amidst all the misleading reports pushed by the left-wing media outlets in the last few months attributing the deaths of these people to hunger and starvation.
Left-media outlets peddled misinformation regarding death of migrants on Shramik trains
Ever since the Modi government started the special Shramik trains to ferry the migrant labourers back home, the left-liberal media groups had begun to propagate misleading reports on the death of some of these migrant workers in Shramik Trains.
Various media reports had claimed that the death of these migrant labourers during their journey was caused due to hunger and starvation. The government had time-and-again had rejected such misleading reports, but media reports continued to spin these facts to give an impression that the migrant labourers died due to hunger because the government ‘forgot’ to feed them.
It all began when Hindustan Times published a report on the May 30 where it had claimed that 80 migrants had died between the May 9-27. The left-wing outlets twisted these facts to give it a spin to claim that these migrants had died of starvation or heat-related sickness.
The left-wing Scroll, which has been caught several times peddling fake news, had published a report based on the report by Hindustan Times but gave their own twist to the tale. They claimed, “Nearly 80 migrant workers died of starvation or heat sickness between May 9 and May 27 while travelling on special trains to their home villages amid the lockdown to contain the coronavirus, according to the data from the Railway Protection Force reviewed by Hindustan Times.”

Not just Scroll, the leftist propaganda website – ‘The Wire’ too jumped in to exploit the issue of death of migrant labourers to attack the Modi government. The Wire had attempted to peddled misinformation by claiming that many migrant labourers had breathed their last while in transit due to hunger and dehydration.

Alt News, another self-proclaimed fact-checking website, whose co-founder is accused of online harassment of girl child, too peddled similar misinformation the railways had neither provided food nor water resulting the death of migrant labourers on Shramik trains due to hunger.
Similarly, Caravan India journalist Vidya Krishnan was also found spreading misinformation and lies regarding Shramik Express. Self-proclaimed ‘journalist’ Vidya Krishnan had claimed that 40 Shramik Express trains got lost and that the government ‘forgot’ to feed the passengers which led to the death of at least 10 people.
However, the PIB fact-checking arm took to Twitter to call out her falsehood and had stated that the cause of death cannot be determined without autopsy and proper legal procedure.
Post-mortem reports say migrants died due to pre-existing ailments
These media outlets had continued to peddle such misinformation even after the centre had informed the Supreme Court that the death on Shramik trains was not due to hunger or lack of food. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had told the court that “an enquiry found that no deaths were caused by lack of food, water or medication… The people who died had some earlier illnesses. Railways has the details. People who showed signs of illness were shifted to the nearest hospitals”.
OpIndia, too, had accessed the post mortem reports of these deceased migrants. Thirty such post mortem reports had shown that the migrants have not died due to starvation or hunger. These post mortem reports of other deceased individuals also showed that they died due to natural causes and pre-existing conditions not related to hunger or starvation.
The Modi government started the operations of Shramik Special trains on May 1 to ferry migrant labourers back to their home states during the lockdown period.
In total, the Ministry of Railways ran 4,621 Shramik Special trains that were operated between May 1 and August 31. The Indian Railways carried 6,319,000 passengers to their respective home states, the Railway ministry said in the Parliament.
In a statement released by National Commision for Women (NCW), the NCW chief Rekha Sharma extended support to actress Payal Ghosh who had accused Anurag Kashyap of sexual assault.
NCW chief Rekha Sharma said that she was made aware of the shocking allegations last evening and had tweeted to Ghosh to write to her in detail about the incident. “We will investigate and even write to the police and stand with her till investigation is done and the case goes to court,” she said.

A startling disclosure by a former British diplomat to India has revealed that the then British government had a very poor opinion of Rajiv Gandhi as a Prime Minister and the British government had considered that the Rajiv Gandhi ran an “oriental court”, where he was “king among courtiers”, reports Hindustan Times.
According to the report, David Goodall, the British high commissioner in New Delhi in 1989, had penned a confidential assessment to the British government explaining Rajiv Gandhi’s tenure as a Prime Minister on the eve of the 1989 general election. He had predicted that Rajiv Gandhi was not going to return as Prime Minister of India.
The British diplomat had added, “Indeed with Ministers his status is more that of a king among courtiers than first among equals. We are told that in cabinet no-one, with the possible exception of KC Pant, the Defence Minister, dares to contradict him. With 24 re-shuffles in four years, no Minister has been allowed to remain in one job long enough to establish an independent political reputation”.
“In other respects too, the atmosphere is that of an oriental court; indeed comparisons, not altogether far-fetched, are sometimes drawn with the late Shah of Persia…Alongside the urbanity and the gentleness appear flashes of unpredictable petulance,” Goodall had analysed former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
The “astute and perceptive analysis” written by Goodall, which was welcomed by the Foreign office then, has been declassified and released by National Archives.

The British diplomat had sent two detailed confidential notes on Rajiv Gandhi, where he had written how he had a difficult time explaining to an “incredulous” then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher that Gandhi-scion will not return as the prime minister.
The notes are particularly critical of Gandhi’s ways of functioning and his over-dependence on a “coterie”. The de-classified notes have references to former foreign secretary M K Rasgotra and former diplomat Ronen Sen to substantiate the assessment of Gandhi’s “appalling” working methods.
In his note, Goodall wrote, “The small coterie of privileged bureaucrats and political associates on whom he relies for advice are liable to go in and out of favour with disconcerting suddenness; and the question who currently has the Prime Minister’s ear is the perennial topic of speculation among both Indian and foreign political observers in Delhi”.
Goodall wrote that for Rajiv Gandhi, who had been Prime Minister of India for over four years, “inexperience” cannot be good enough an excuse.”It has become clear that Gandhi also has problems of indecisiveness and a tendency to lose interest in the implementation of policies,” he added. Rajiv Gandhi swore in as Prime Minister of India after assassination of Indira Gandhi in 1984.

The British diplomat further noted that Rajiv Gandhi signally lacked judgment in his choice of close advisers. According to Goodall, Rajiv Gandhi could not revive Congress and had become aloof and inaccessible to party workers. This is also one of the accusations levelled against his son, Rahul Gandhi. Further, the note stated that Rajiv Gandhi lacked “any profoundly thought-out political philosophy of his own”, and was ineffectual in foreign affairs.
Goodall further stated that Rajiv Gandhi had his own set of personal insecurities which could be the reason behind his “monarchical proclivities”. He wrote that Rajiv Gandhi only trusted his wife Sonia Gandhi who was also an influence on his choice of friends.
Perhaps, the only ‘positive’ thing about Rajiv Gandhi the note suggested was that he was very good looking and very attractive person to be with. That along with his lineage, the Nehru-Gandhi family he came from, and the family’s links with Britain.
In his note, Goodall pointed out while Rajiv Gandhi tried to make things work, he wasn’t trying hard enough. Moreover, he never succeeded, ‘either by force or character’.
Anurag Kashyap has responded to the allegations made by actress Payal Ghosh. He posted a series of tweets in which he denied the allegations and alleged that it is a political attempt to silence him. He said, “What’s the matter, why it took so long to try to silence me. Despite being a woman, you have dragged the names of other women in an attempt to silence me. I will only say that the allegations are baseless.”

Anurag and controversies are in a relationship for many years. During the Me Too wave in India, a woman alleged that Vikas Bahl, Kashyap’s partner, tried to assault her sexually. Anurag Kashyap denied any knowledge of the incident but later wrote a 2-page open letter explaining his side of the story.
Kashyap had supported Tarun Tejpal, Tehelka founder, who was serving jail time for allegedly raping a junior colleague at that time. He said that he had seen the CCTV footage and none of what the girl said was true.
Anurag in 2019 used his social media accounts to spread false information about the Aligarh child rape case. He claimed that the dismembering of the body of the child and gouging out of the eyes of the child “did not happen” at all despite the fact that the post-mortem report said that vital parts from the body of the child victim body were missing.
The United States law enforcement officials had earlier this week intercepted a package addressed to US President Donald Trump that contained a deadly poison, ricin. The authorities believe the letter may have originated in Canada.
The FBI, US Secret Service and the US Postal Inspection Service partners are currently investigating the letter as per a statement issued by the FBI. The FBI has stated that there is no threat to public safety as of now. Authorities are also investigating additional similar packages mailed to certain addresses in Texas which could have been sent by same sender from Canada.
As per protocol, all letters received by the White House are sorted and checked at an offsite facility before they are brought to the White House.
Ricin, how it works
As per reports, two tests were conducted to confirm the presence of ricin, a highly toxic compound that is extracted from castor beans. Ricin is used in terror attacks and can be used in form of a powder, pellet, mist or acid. Ingestion of ricin causes nausea, vomiting, internal bleeding of stomach and intestines leading to liver and kidney failure and resulting in death due to collapse of circulatory system.
Ricin does not have any known antidote yet.

Payal Ghosh said that she was uncomfortable with the whole thing and managed to get away by saying that she will return and they will have a ‘good time’ but she wanted to go away at that moment. She said that until the moment she could manage to put a stop to it, ‘everything happened’. Anurag Kashyap apparently told her that physical relationships are very normal.
‘…The next day he called me again. He said he wanted to discuss something with me. I went to his place, he was drinking whiskey or scotch, whatever I don’t know. It was smelling very bad. It could easily have been charas or ganja, drugs I don’t know, I don’t have any idea about it but I am not stupid,’ Payal Ghosh stated. Then, they went to the other room where the incident allegedly happened.
Anurag Kashyap is yet to respond to the allegations. Payal Ghosh made the allegations during an interview with ABN Telugu and again on Twitter, appealed to Prime Minister Modi for action against the filmmaker and said that he forced himself upon her. She had recently said that she was Sushant Singh Rajput’s gym buddy and found it difficult to believe that he had committed suicide.
After the video of Payal Ghosh came to the notice of National Commission for Women (NCW) chairperson Rekha Sharma, she advised Payal to send a detailed complaint to them on the issue, and assured that the commission will look into the matter. Payal responded to the same saying that she will send a formal complaint to the NCW.
Thirty-seven days after the deadly riots hit the DJ Halli and KG Halli areas of Bengaluru, an independent fact-finding committee has brought out chilling testimonies of a few Hindu survivors, which proves how Hindus were selectively hunted and targetted and their homes and vehicles were damaged in the pre-planned and organised riots. These reports have been submitted to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa for his pursual.
In these testimonies which have been accessed by Times Now, one of the survivors claims that they were given a warning in Urdu and were told to move inside their homes or else they can get killed. The survivor says that during the Bengaluru riots, none of the cars belonging to either Muslims or bearing a star or an HKGN (Hazrath Khwaja Garib Nawaz) symbol was not attacked. The rioters went to the extent of lifting the covers of the cars parked on the road to ascertain who’s car was it before attacking it.
He furthers that the rioters made sure to launch attacks in blind spots- those which were not covered by CCTV. This means that locals were involved who knew about these blind spots, claimed the survivor. The rioters had made sure that only non-Muslims are targetted. “Except Muslims, each and everyone, including every vehicle belonging to a non-Muslim was attacked and damaged”.
He continues that he had witnessed many houses along that road that remained untouched, implying that those belonged to the Muslims that’s why they remained unharmed. The survivor said that the rioters were shouting across the street in Urdu asking everyone to rush back to their respective houses or face consequences. “They warned us about the violence in Urdu and asked us to get inside or else we will be killed”.
Saying so, he affirmed that the people there are not associated with the BJP or the Congress.
The second survivor in his testimony specifies that on the day of the riots in Bengaluru, no Muslims vehicle was parked along that entire stretch. The road, which is generally only used by them, did not see a single Muslim person commuting on the day of the riot. None of the Muslims houses or Muslim vehicles were damaged in the ensuing. Their vehicles were deliberately not parked there that night, alludes the second survivor.
In the other two following testimonies the survivors clearly explain why they think they were singled out, identified and then targetted.
One person testified how the rioters first destroyed the CCTV cameras on the road before attacking their houses. On being asked as to why they think they were targetted, the survivor says that his house was targetted because he lit diyas after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for lamps to be lit for 9 minutes at 9 pm on April 5 ‘to defeat despair of coronavirus’.
The survivor recollects that he had confronted one particuler house in their area which did not lit diyas on that day. They had even filed a case against him. The survivor says that possibly that particular family had informed someone about that incident, thats why his house came under attack.
Meanwhile, the fourth person confirmed that the area which had come under the attack, was predominantly a non-Muslim area with mostly Tamilians, Kannadigas, maximum Hindus residing there. He said that the rioters were mostly not in their senses. He says he has a feeling that most of them were intoxicated, had consumed drugs.
Basically all these testimonies establish that the attacks in Bengaluru were pre-planned, well-organised and particularized to target one particular community- Hindus.
SDPI and PFI were involved in the planning and execution of the incident: Fact-finding report
In fact, earlier, in its report, the fact-finding committee had also said that the riots were pre-planned and organised and specifically targeted certain Hindus in the area. It has also said that the rioting bore a stark resemblance to the violence witnessed in Delhi earlier this year and in Sweden more recently. The fact-finding committee also discovered that the local populace was actively involved in the execution of the riots and also had prior knowledge about it. The Committee also said that SDPI and PFI were involved in the planning and execution of the incident.
Apart from monitoring the activities of PFI and SDPI, the Committee also said that the Karnataka Government must constitute a committee to study the source of religious extremism in the state. It was also of the opinion that demographic changes in major cities in the state should be studied and the role of illegal immigrants should be investigated in the rioting.
The Bengaluru Riots
A Muslim mob went on a rampage and unleashed extreme violence in Bengaluru on the 11th of August over a Facebook post that was allegedly derogatory to Prophet Mohammad. Subsequently, FIRs have been filed which names five individuals who are said to have led a mob of 200-300 on that particular day.
Three people were killed and more than 60 police personnel were injured in the stone-pelting and the subsequent riots unleashed by the irate Muslim mobs. At least 10 vehicles, including Innovas of two DCPs, were damaged in front of the stations. The mob also set fire to the vehicles in front of the DJ Halli police station.
