Military ruler Pervez Musharraf gets death penalty for imposing emergency in Pakistan

0

A three-judge Bench of a special court in Pakistan handed over the death penalty to Pakistan’s former President Parvez Musharraf on December 17 for suspending Constitution and imposing emergency in the country in 2007.

The Bench headed by Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Waqar Ahmad Seth gave the ruling in the long-drawn high treason case against Pervez Musharraf which was initiated by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for clamping the state of emergency on November 3, 2007, a punishable offence for which he was indicted on March 31, 2014, and the prosecution had tabled the entire evidence before the special court in September the same year. But due to litigation at appellate forums, the trial of the former military dictator had lingered on.

Musharaf, Pakistan’s military ruler from 2001 to 2008, has been living in exile in Dubai since March 2016 after he left Pakistan for medical treatment. The special court, comprising Justice Seth, Justice Nazar Akbar of the Sindh High Court (SHC) and Justice Shahid Karim of the Lahore High Court, announced the verdict it had reserved on November 19, the Dawn newspaper reported.

Musharraf had challenged the special court verdict and sought suspension of his trial in his absence. He asked the Lahore High Court to suspend the special court’s reserved verdict until he is healthy enough to appear before the court.

He pleaded not guilty and has always claimed that the charges against him are politically motivated. He is the first military ruler to recieve the death penalty.

The former Pakistan President was declared an absconder as he failed to appear in court despite repeated summons and the court issued a directive to the country’s Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to arrest him.

Delhi Police say Jamia rioters were prepared, violence was not spontaneous but well-planned

0

In the wake of violent protests that erupted at the Jamia Millia Islamia University, the Delhi Police had today claimed that the investigations are underway to determine if the rampant vandalism, arson and stone-peltings were part of a larger conspiracy.

Additional DCP(South East), Kumar Gyanesh asserted that by looking at the preparations made by the protestors, it appeared that the violent protests were not instantaneous but planned well in advance. He claimed that a probe has been ordered to ascertain if the violent acts of arson and vandalism during the protests were engineered beforehand.

“I saw it for myself, some protestors were carrying wet blankets and putting them on tear gas shells to minimise their impact. It did not seem to be spontaneous but well planned. Investigation underway,” Gyanesh said.

Delhi Police also rubbished the rumours that bullets were fired by the police personnel on the protestors when the agitation turned ugly. It also claimed that the 10 people arrested by the police for the acts of arson and vandalism during the protests did not belong to the Jamia Millia Islamia University and were outsiders.

Citing the Delhi Police report, a Home Ministry official said, “No bullet was fired by the Delhi Police during protests at Jamia. All 10 persons detained have a criminal background. More anti-social elements are being tracked,” the officials said, citing a Delhi Police report.

It is notable here that an OpIndia exclusive report had exposed the involvement of Congress’ NSUI members to organise pre-planned protests in India and make it look like organic protests. It is also being reported that an intelligence report submitted to the MHA says that banned radical organisations like PFI and SIMI may be behind the violent riots and planning to spread the violence across the country.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill aims to give Citizenship to the persecuted minorities like Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from the neighbouring Islamic nations of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The Bill has been passed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and also got the assent of the President.

Jamia Nagar riots: Jamia Millia Islamia blames ‘outsiders’ for the riots, claims 750 fake ID cards found inside campus since August

0

Jamia Millia Islamia University Vice-Chancellor Najma Akhtar in a statement on Tuesday claimed that university students have not been involved in these protests instead several outsiders who have entered the premises with fake identity cards have been perpetrating these violent attacks.

She said that that 750 fake ID cards have been found in the university’s campus. According to the Zee News report, since August, 750 fake ID cards have been confiscated by guards on campus after ‘outsiders’ attempted to enter the University Campus. It is being alleged that ‘outsiders’, since the last three months have been planning to create unrest, and build a political space within the campus. Apparently, the fake ID in Jamia is a ‘routine’ thing and the university regularly keeps a check on fake IDs.

Slamming Delhi police for detaining Jamia students, the VC Najma Akhtar said the university will not tolerate police presence on campus and on Monday demanded a high-level inquiry into the crackdown on students. “Police entered the campus without permission. We will not tolerate police presence on campus. They scared our students with police brutality,” Najma Akhtar said at a press conference.

“We will file FIR on the damage of property and police action on students, we want high-level inquiry. I will present facts to the HRD Minister,” she said.

On the other hand, the Delhi Police’s Joint Commissioner Devesh Shrivastav has claimed that the police force is being continuously attacked by stones, bottles, tube lights though they are there for the safety and security of the students, and appealed to students inside Jamia Millia Islamia campus to not throw bottles and pelt stones on the police force.

Delhi Police had entered the campus on December 15 to flush out the protesting students after protests in Jamia Nagar turned violent as buses were torched and vandalized by Muslim mobs in the National Capital.

The protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act began from Jamia Millia Islamia University and it is not clear whether students from the University were involved with the protests or not.

In the video accessed by Opindia.com, noise could be heard and the ‘students’ of the University could be seen running helter-skelter. Surprisingly, all the students were inside libraries and reading rooms for a change. They are usually busy protesting against something or the other. One of the ‘students’ can be heard saying that the Delhi Police is firing tear gas shells to flush out the students. It is also reported that the Police dragged students out of a mosque inside the campus. The students again pelted stones at the Police which forced the latter to retaliate.

It is reported that hundreds of ‘protesters’ were paraded out of the University with their hands in the air. The Police said that they had nabbed some outsiders who were indulging in violence. According to reports, Jihadist slogans were raised. The so-called ‘protesters’ raised slogans of ‘Hinduon se Azadi’ and ‘Chheen ke lengey Azadi’ and ‘Ladh ke lengey Azadi’. The slogans translate to ‘Freedom from Hindus’, ‘We will fight for freedom’.

How to debate Citizenship Amendment Act with ‘liberal’ idiots

Idiots seem to have taken over the public sphere of debating in India. Armed with ignorance, lies, malice, and shouting behind rampaging Islamists, they are out to drown out any informed debate or discussion around Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the supposedly impending National Register of Citizens (NRC). They are trying to save the country from fires of communalism by helping rabid Islamists put trains and buses on fire. Yes, that’s how much idiot they are.

Normally it’s advised to keep away from idiots, and most right-leaning Hindus are doing that, but just in case some idiot has caught hold of you and is insisting a debate. Here are some points you should know to counter the idiot.

Liberal Idiot: Why the hell allow Hindus, Sikhs and others to enter India but keep out just the Muslims?

You: Hey idiot, the Act doesn’t allow anyone to enter, but it deals with people who have already entered India. Not just that, only people who entered India before 31st December 2014 are covered under this act. Any Hindu, whom you hate from your bottom of your heart, will NOT become citizen of India if he came to India on are after 1st January 2015. So imagine, sometime in 2015, a Hindu in Pakistan decides to come to India because a strong “Hindu government” is in power, but he will NOT become citizen of India under this act. That should make you happy, idiot.

So forget Hindus from Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh rushing into India in future due to this Act, many among those who are already here are not getting any benefits. They will continue to be treated as illegal immigrants and can be jailed or deported back to the Islamic countries, where they will be killed or converted, something that should calm down your frayed tempers.

Liberal Idiot: Even Muslims like Ahmediyas and Shias are persecuted in Pakistan, why not allow them?

You: (Refer to the answer above that the Act is not about ‘allowing’ anyone. Now let’s proceed to the second part) Okay, I agree that Ahmediays and Shias are persecuted in Pakistan, but can you show me A SINGLE MEDIA REPORT that talks about Ahmediyas or Shias living in some refugee camps in India? Your own secular media has reported about Pakistani Hindu refugee camps in places like Delhi and Jodhpur other places, but where are the reports on Ahmediyas or Shias coming to India as refugees?

Where are those refugee camps? Where are those people whom you want to give citizenship? Remember idiot, this Act is all about those who are already here by 31st December 2014, not about people currently in Pakistan or elsewhere. Show me a single Indian secular media report that talks about even one refugee camp, or even a report on some Ahmediya or Shia families who came to India as religiously persecuted group and who are thus excluded from this Act.

In future, whether a Hindu, or Shia, or Ahmediya, anyone fleeing Pakistan and seeking citizenship in India will have to go through the same process and paperwork. There is no special status to Hindus or special exclusion to Muslims for anyone coming in India on or after 1st January 2015.

Liberal Idiot: Real problem is CAA and NRC combined as a Muslim who is already here will have to work extra to prove his citizenship.

You: Hey Idiot No. 1, you have already lost the argument on CAA so now you are bringing the non-existent NRC into picture. We have zero idea about a nationwide NRC. Everything about a nationwide NRC is speculation as of now and you have burnt buses and trains based on assumptions.

The only place where NRC is being maintained, and that is also being done on orders of Supreme Court, is in Assam. Assam problem is altogether different and you as liberal-secular should actually be protesting in Assam and fighting for rights of everyone to settle in Assam as you want things to be in the rest of India.

Now, let us assume that a Hindu and a Muslim, who has been living in India for over 5 years can’t produce documents to prove that they are citizens of India, so under what law will a Hindu automatically become a citizen? CAA you said? Dear idiot, the Hindu will also be required to prove that he or his forefathers fled Pakistan, Afghanistan or Bangladesh. Government will ask ‘where is your refugee card’? Or ‘where is that train or bus ticket from Lahore’? So both the Hindu and the Muslim without documents will further need to prove something. Hindus are not getting any free pass.

But most importantly, we have ZERO idea about what documents and what procedures will be there in the nationwide NRC. How many of you protestors have asked for clarity on this? How does burning buses give you that clarity, idiot?

Liberal Idiot: All these things don’t matter. No law should have any exclusion basis based on religion. Period.

You: Finally, you talk sense, idiot. Our constitution should truly be secular (the word was not there in original preamble, you know that, right, idiot?) and not treat any religion with special status, either in positive or negative sense. But for that, you will need to change many things in the constitution. Remove all articles and laws that give special status to minorities for running their educational or cultural institutions. Remove Minority Affairs ministry. Free the Hindu temples. At least make reservations or RTI applicable to minority institutions.

You get the point? If you were totally cool with plethora of laws and articles that are blatantly ‘communal’ in nature, you can’t have your panties in twist over CAA, which is just as much communal as any of these. This is why you guys are burning buses and trains, because you know that in Supreme Court, you will lose the case as there is nothing unconstitutional about this law. If CAA is unconstitutional, many other laws and articles from constitution will need to go, and we Hindus will only be happy if they go away.

Liberal Idiot: You are fascist, bigot. We are fighting for Idea of India.

You: You are the real fascist who is cheering crowds that are shouting islamofascist slogans. Your heroes have openly called for Jihad and they believe in Ummah. You want another partition by inciting Muslims mobs to burn down India. You hate Hindus to the extent that you say you don’t care if they are killed or raped by Jihadis in Pakistan. So go slow on that fascism and bigotry chant, liberal.

Now get lost, idiot.

Watch: Delhi Police Joint Commissioner appeals to Jamia students requesting them to not pelt stones, throw bottles at police

Times of India journalist Raj Shekhar Jha tweeted a video clip of Delhi Police’s Joint Commissioner Devesh Shrivastav appealing to students inside Jamia Millia Islamia campus to not throw bottles and pelt stones on the police force.

In the video one can hear him refer to the students inside Jamia as ‘beta’ and ‘bachcho’ (Hindi for children). He informs them he is outside gate no. 7 and requested the ‘bachcho’ to not pelt stones and throw bottles at the police force. He then said how it is not right to throw stones at them like this. He appealed to the students to stay inside the campus and not come out.

In another clip he could be heard saying that the police force is being continuously attacked by stones, bottles, tubelights but they are there for the safety and security of the students.

After the Citizenship Amendment Act was passed, few protests broke out of which some turned violent too quickly. After West Bengal, the protests reached Delhi’s Jamia Nagar where mischief mongers set buses on fire and resorted to violence. Police had to use force to control the situation.

Watch: Sharjeel Imam, mastermind of Shaheen Bagh and The Wire columnist incites mob to do ‘Chakkajam’ in Delhi and bring north Indian cities to a halt

Violent protests, arson, mob violence and vandalism had marked the protests in Jamia Nagar in Delhi and several other places on 14 and 15 December. A number of videos, being circulated on social media, are now emerging which depict how certain individuals had instigated violence in the areas.

In one such video, reportedly from Delhi, a man is seen inciting Muslims to come to the streets and do ‘Chakkajam’ (bringing a city to halt) in Delhi. The man is saying that they (Muslims) need to do Chakkajam in Delhi and wherever they have sufficient numbers. He says that right now, Muslims can bring several Indian cities to a halt. The man in the video is Sharjeel Imam, a JNU ‘student’ and The Wire columnist.

The man says that Muslims are being hindered by their own organisations like Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind and Jamat-e-Islami. He is seen calling for Muslims to bring cities of North India to a halt.

“There are over 30% urban Muslims in UP. Do you have no shame at all? Why cannot you do Chakkajam in UP? The area in Bihar where I am from, the rural Muslim population is 6% while the urban Muslim population is 24%. Indian Muslims mostly live in cities. So it is upon you. You can bring your cities to a halt. If anyone asks you not to, disown them”, the man is heard saying.

The video has been going viral in social media. Though OpIndia could not independently verify where it was shot but it was being widely circulated to depict how students and the general public are being instigated to carry out violent protests and cause damage.

Update: On 31st December, in an exclusive expose, OpIndia revealed that Sharjeel Imam was the mastermind of the Shaheen Bagh protests and had severely nefarious designs and Islamist bent of mind. The headline of the article has been altered to reflect the connection of Imam with the Shaheen Bagh protests.

10 people with criminal background arrested over Jamia Nagar riots in Delhi, not a single bullet fired by Police

Delhi Police arrested 10 people with criminal background in connection with the Jamia Nagar riots that took place in the national capital over the weekend. According to police no student has been arrested and not a single bullet was fired by Delhi Police during the Jamia riots. The police is also tracking other anti-social elements who were involved in the rioting. The ten arrested are reportedly ‘history sheeters’.

Two FIRs are registered for property damage and riots in connection with the violence that erupted during the protests in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar where Jamia Millia Islamia university is located. The protests where some students also participated turned violent when some rioters set buses on fire and resorted to stone-pelting. The Delhi Police swung into action and lathicharged and used tear-gas to control the rioting mob.

CAA exposes nexus between Congress and Islamists: Intelligence report says PFI, SIMI behind violent protests

0

An intelligence report shared with the Ministry of Home Affairs, some ‘political parties’ and banned radical Islamist outfits like SIMI and PFI are behind the violent protests in several places across the country.

As per a report published in Swarajya, sources in the MHA said that the intelligence report, submitted last week, says that the violence and unrest is the ‘handiwork’ of banned Islamist outfits.

On Sunday, violent protests, stone-pelting arson and mob attacks had forced the Delhi police to enter into the premises of Jamia Millia Islamia to get the situation under control.

“Some political parties (names withheld considering the gravity of the case) ignited the violent acts at various places, letting opportunities to sleeper cells of extremist and militant Islamic fundamentalist organisations, Popular Front of India (PFI) and Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)” the ministry sources were quoted saying by the report.

It also added that their aim is to disrupt law and order situation in the country. The intelligence report also stated that the outfits are planning to spread the violence to several states.

The PFI has a number of student and social bodies and is reportedly trying to take advantage of the situation. The SIMI, which had been involved in terrorist activities, is trying to revive its sleeper cells in the time of crisis to provide help to some political parties.

The PFI, in a press release earlier this month, had fear-mongered over the CAB, batted for the Rohingyas, and had added that India has ‘no right’ over PoK.

The intelligence report, as per sources, stressed upon immediate measures to curb the spreading violence through protests. It stated that the organisations involved are seeking to damage the social fabric of the country by propagating antinationalism and secessionism.

It is notable here that the MHA had on December 16, issued an advisory to all state and UTs to take the “requisite precautionary measures to maintain law and order, peace and public tranquillity”. The advisory also includes directives to curb rumour-mongering and fake news on social media.

It is notable here that on 16 December, an OpIndia exclusive report had exposed how Congress’ NSUI and their supporters are coordinating to instigate violent agitations across colleges and institutions of India via a WhatsApp group.

Read: Who is instigating violence in colleges: Congress, NSUI, a sinister WhatsApp group and anti-CAA protests

The report by our editor Nupur J Sharma has exposed the NSUI leaders trying to rally students across India in a well-planned and coordinated way while trying to mask these protests as spontaneous and organic.

The CAA aims to provide Indian citizenship to persecuted minorities who have been staying as refugees from the three Islamic neighbouring nations, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Islamists groups, most of ‘secular-liberal’ media and opposition parties have been opposing the legislation alleging that it is discriminatory against Muslims.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap comes back from self-imposed Twitter exile to blame BJP IT cell for violent protests by Jamia rioters

Sometime in August this year, days before the season two of his controversial Netflix series Sacred Game premiered, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had ‘quit’ Twitter claiming he was not allowed to ‘speak his mind’. He had deactivated his profile claiming his parents and daughter were getting threatening calls.

He had left Twitter because he was ‘not allowed to speak his mind without fear’. However, months after Sacred Games 2 released and quite frankly failed to get viewer attention, Kashyap is back, this time he said he will not sit silent.

Following the violence at Jamia Nagar in Delhi where rioters set buses on fire, Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter to appeal for peace. However, Kashyap chose this moment to blame the ‘BJP IT cell’ for ‘creating propaganda about students being violent’.

This when there are ample video evidences where the protests were far from peaceful and how buses were set ablaze systematically.

The Delhi Police had used force to control the rioters at Jamia Nagar in Delhi where Jamia Millia Islamia university is located. Kashyap then shared a 15th December post to claim that no students were involved in the riots.

Yesterday, in her media address, Jamia VC Najma Akhtar reportedly claimed that over 700 fake student IDs were recovered from campus. Going by Kashyap’s logic, perhaps the ones involved in violence were the ones with fake student ID card? In that case, if force was used against the rioters, it should not really be a cause of revolt.

Now if only logic were as easily accessible to Bollywood folks like other stuffs…

“Humare leaders kahan hai?”: Congress leader makes frantic calls as there was no crowd at Priyanka Gandhi’s ‘symbolic’ protest

Amidst speculations of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi going abroad on holidays, his sister Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi was to ‘lead’ two-hour symbolic protest in solidarity with Jamia Millia Islamia students at Delhi’s India Gate. There was a considerable buildup to Priyanka’s protest as a lot of people tweeted that all Congress leaders will be present at the protest.

However, when she did reach the venue with former Congress MP Sushmita Dev, there was hardly anyone there except for a few curious bystanders and Delhi Police officers doing their duty.

As seen in above picture shared by Mahila Congress, Dev appears a little angry while speaking to someone on phone. The conversation was caught on camera by Newsroom Post.

Dev can be heard saying, “Humare leaders kahan hai? (Where are our leaders?) Aap bhejo, Venugopal vagarah ko bhejo. (You send Venugopal, etc here). Aap samajh gaye na? (You understood, right?)” Following this phone call, few Congress leaders turned up at the protest to form a ‘respectable’ crowd.
