Pakistan is South Asia’s weakest economy, huge task to pull it out of poverty, report says

Pakistan is South Asia’s weakest economy and it will take a herculean effort to pull the country out of poverty, reported Islam Khabar.

Pakistan is in the news for economic meltdown amidst natural disasters, food shortages and poverty. Pakistan had unprecedented floods in July last year, devastating large swathes of farmlands. The forex reserves in the country which hit a new low of USD 4.6 billion would only be enough to pay for foreign import bills for three weeks. The analysts put Pakistan’s need for relief at USD 33 billion.

The world helped then and has renewed its pledge. Moved by the intervention by the UN Secretary-General, better-off nations have come forward with generous commitments of around USD 10 billion. Sensing the urgency, friends including Saudi Arabia and the UAE have chipped in with four billion dollars this month, reported Islam Khabar.

It has been six months since the flood waters ebbed. But on-land traveller (SF Aizaduddin, Dawn January 11, 2023) writes that they remain underwater, with no sign of water management or renewed cultivation. It is understandable up to a point, though. But after so many months, there is an acute food shortage.

Imagine the country with one of the world’s most irrigated fertile wheat-growing land has a shortage of flour and no money to import it. Market reports say a PKR 1200 bag of 20 kg of flour has shot up to PKR 3,00, reported Islam Khabar.

Dragging talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) put PKR at three months low. The Express Tribune (January 12, 2023) quoted a currency exchange expert, “The Pakistani rupee’s fair value is the one prevailing in the black market at Rs 260-270 to a dollar. The government has artificially kept the currency overvalued. It should let market forces determine the exchange rate meet an IMF’s condition.”

Unsurprisingly, warning of another global recession, the World Bank on January 13, 2023 forecasted Pakistan’s economic growth to slow further to two per cent during the current year — down by two percentage points from its June 2022 estimate, reported Islam Khabar.

The new excuse is climate change as if only Pakistan is affected. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says the country will need USD 16.3 billion over the next three years for the initial efforts to rebuild and improve its ability to withstand climate change.

The Sharifs earlier called out Imran Khan for ‘begging’. Now Khan is returning the same compliment. He had globe-trotted with a begging bowl, now he asks why Sharif ‘wasted’ money on going to the Geneva conference where aid pledges were made.

‘Begging’ continues, no matter who rules Pakistan. But, the country fails to acknowledge the damage caused by the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to the fragile Himalayas in Gilgit-Baltistan, reported Islam Khabar.

Farmers are reluctant to increase the area under wheat cultivation because of the delay in the announcement of support prices.
They are demanding an “Agri-emergency” due to fertiliser shortage and weak crop outlook. Pakistan Kissan Ittehad (PKI) President Khalid Mehmood Khokhar said instead of boosting domestic wheat production, the government was “supporting farmers of other countries by buying the commodity at higher prices from them,” reported Islam Khabar.

In a report, it said Pakistan’s declining economic output was also bringing down the regional growth rate. It forecast Pakistan’s GDP growth rate to improve to 3.2 per cent in 2024, which would be lower than the earlier estimate of 4.2 per cent.

0

The leading industrialists and investors of West Bengal appreciated the Uttar Pradesh government for creating a conducive environment for industries in the state.

The fourth domestic roadshow was organized at the Oberoi Grand Hotel in Kolkata on Tuesday in the run-up to the Global Investors Summit (GIS), which will be held in Lucknow from February 10 to 12.

Leading industrialists and investors participated in the programme and appreciated the opportunities available in Uttar Pradesh and the transformed state under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, describing it as “a state with enormous investment potential”, an official release said.

Among the investors who have come here, many expressed the desire to invest in connecting the cities of UP through transportation services and also to develop the education sector.

Apart from that, investors demonstrated a positive attitude toward investment in waste-to-energy, hospitals, the tourism sector, and others. Entrepreneurs stated that there has been a lot of spectacular and creative development work in Uttar Pradesh in recent years. The situation has improved as a result of the crime-free UP.

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken the initiative to make Kolkata entrepreneurs partners in the development of the state, so we want to see Uttar Pradesh serve as the growth engine of “New India,” the release said.

Berger Paints’ Managing Director & CEO, Abhijit Roy, talked about “MILTE”.

According to him, Uttar Pradesh has now become prosperous. “UP is attractive in terms of M-Market, I-Infrastructure, L-Land, T-Tax, and E-ease of doing business. The market is extremely important. Modern and progressive investment routes have become the foundation of business”, he said.

Roy also praised the rules and discipline of UP. “This is the only reason all the works have been successfully executed. When it comes to interest rates, attractive profit schemes are also prepared. The desire for businesses to provide adequate solutions to all these things motivates every businessman,” he added.

Ramakant Barman Managing Director of Green Tech Environment Management Private Limited said that he is looking forward to establishing four to five “Waste to Energy” plants in Uttar Pradesh.

“Cities such as Lucknow, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur have a lot of potential. There are many ongoing projects in Kashi. Under the Yogi government, there is safety for traders, a safe environment on the highways, and immense opportunities for investors.

The Yogi government has made adequate electricity, roads, and water provisions. These are the reasons why investors are interested in UP”, he said.

Prayagraj: Three Islamists, including a madarsa teacher, arrested for religious conversion attempts at Magh Mela

Uttar Pradesh police have foiled a major plan of alleged religious conversion during the auspicious Magh Mela of Prayagraj. The special operations group of the Uttar Pradesh police and a team from the Daraganj police station arrested three persons in a joint operation that took place on 17th January 2023.

Informing more about this, the Prayagraj police commissionerate tweeted, “3 members of the gang selling counterfeit suspected Islamic books with the intention of hurting the faith of Hindu Dharma in Magh Mela were arrested by the joint team of Police Station Daraganj and SOG. A large number of unauthenticated books were recovered.”

According to a report by Amar Ujala, a plan of an alleged attempt at religious conversion during the Magh Mela was revealed in Prayagraj. As many as 204 books containing Muslim literature and objectionable articles related to Hinduism have been recovered. Three people, including a madrasa teacher, have been arrested. The arrested mastermind of this gang is identified as Mahmood Hasan Ghazi. He is a resident of GTB Nagar Kareli. He teaches in a madrasa.

Madarsa teacher Mahmood Hasan has told in the interrogation that he used to get funding from Abu Dhabi in UAE for this work. He runs an organization called Badme Paigame Bahdaniyat and is also its president.

The accused attempted to stir communal strife by distributing Islamic literature at Magh Mela

It was reported that some people were trying to spoil the atmosphere by distributing Islamic religious books at the Magh Mela. On reaching the spot, two young men were found doing this in a stall. They had put books related to Hinduism on top, but under them, they had largely kept books related to Islam.

When the two were questioned, they identified themselves as Ashish Kumar Gupta and Naresh Kumar Saroj. However, after being brought to the police station, they were arrested. Two Aadhaar cards named Monish and Sameer were found. During interrogation, it was found that he was doing this work at the behest of Ghazi, a teacher of Islamia Himdadia Madrasa in Puramufti, and he also used to get money for this work. Shocking revelations were made when the police caught Ghazi from his house in GTB Nagar in Kareli.

Prayagraj’s deputy commissioner of police told during a media interaction, “Nowadays, Magh Mela is going on here. At such time we arrested two boys from the Magh Mela. They were distributing religious books on a stall. Some of the books were related to the religion Islam. Some other books were about Hindu Dharma in which there are articles quoting and misinterpreting verses from Hindu Dharmic scriptures. This can hurt the religious sentiments of the people from the Hindu community. Such books were being distributed by them on that stall. One of them is Monish and the other is Sameer. Earlier, both of them were Hindus. Monish converted to Islam 2 years ago while Sameer converted 12 years ago. Mahmood Ghazi is a madrasa teacher who used to supply these books to the two youths who were distributing the books there free of cost. While distributing the books, they clicked photographs with the people who would take these books. The two also took the contact numbers of those people. The purpose of this activity was to spot the soft targets and later convert them. We took action as soon as we received this information.”

He further said, “These people would especially visit the Hindu Dharmic places. They had put a stall near the Hanuman temple in the city. They had also visited Banaras where they distributed such books on the Assi Ghat of the Kashi Vishwanath temple. Now we have arrested the two booksellers and the one who supplied these books to them. We have taken action against them and also investigating the case further. They received funds from Abu Dhabi. They used to click photographs with people taking books from them.”

“Then the two booksellers would send these photographs to their supplier Mahmood Ghazi. He would then forward those photographs to a foreign country from where he would receive funds in his money wallet in an instalment of Rs 10000 each. We have inquired for more details about these transactions. These books are printed in Delhi. Some of them are also printed locally. There is no ISBN on any of the books,” he further said.

According to the report by Amar Ujala, the arrested individuals are identified as 1. Mahmud Hasan Gazi son of Md. Ahsan resident of Matinpur, Kishandaspur under the Police Station Hussainganj Fatehpur, 2. Mo. Monish alias Ashish Kumar Gupta resident of Sudnipur Kala, under the Hanumanganj police station in Saraiinayat, 3. Sameer alias Naresh Kumar Saroj son of Dulare resident of Chhota Lalapur, Chail under the Police Station Pipri in Kaushambi

The police seized 204 suspicious religious books, three mobile phones, four Aadhaar cards, Rs 2,600 in cash, a cart, and a diary from the arrested accused. Monish and Sameer, who are among the arrested accused, are also associated with the Islamic organization. Monish is the zonal secretary of the Eastern UP unit of the Student Islamic Organisation, while Sameer is an active member of it. According to the police, both of them told in the interrogation that they had been doing this work for a long time. For this, they used to get per head five thousand rupees per month. They said that Mahmood Hasan Ghazi used to ask them to distribute this literature mostly around Hindu religious places.

Satish Chandra, ADCP Crime informed, “A case has been registered against them at Daraganj police station under various charges including spreading enmity on grounds of religion and under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention of Religious Conversion) Act. They have been sent to jail by the court’s order.”

UN lists Abdul Rehman Makki as a global terrorist: All you need to know about the Lashkar-e-Taiba deputy chief

Pakistan-based terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki, the 68-year-old brother-in-law of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed, has been blacklisted by the UN as a global terrorist on Tuesday, January 17. The blacklisting subjects him to an asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo, after years of efforts by India and its allies.

Notably, India had made listings of Pakistan-based terrorists a top priority of its United Nations tenure during 2021-22. A total of five names were submitted by India for designation under 1267 in 2022: Abdul Rehman Makki (LeT), Abdul Rauf Asghar (Jaish-e-Mohammed, JeM), Sajid Mir (LeT), Shahid Mahmood (LeT), and Talha Saeed (LeT).

Each of these five names was initially placed on technical hold by one member state while all other 14 members of the Council agreed to their listing.

Makki’s case was submitted on June 1, 2022, by India with the US joining as a co-designating state. The member state, China, an all-weather ally of Pakistan, placed a technical hold on 16 June 2022 and after the six-month period again renewed its hold in mid-December, according to the sources.

The UN Security Council’s 1267 al-Qaida Sanctions Committee added 68-year-old Makki to its list of designated terrorists on Monday after China withdrew its hold on a joint proposal by India and the US.

India welcomes the UN’s decision to tag Abdul Rehman Makki as a ‘global terrorist’

India welcomed the decision with the ministry of external affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi saying, “We welcome the decision of the UN Security Council’s ISIL and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee to list LeT terrorist Abdul Rehman Makki, who is also the brother-in-law of LeT leader Hafiz Saeed. Makki has occupied various leadership roles in LeT, including raising funds for the organisation,” said the ministry of external affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi in response to media queries regarding the global terrorist tag for the deputy chief of the terror outfit.

Arindam Bagchi added that the threats from terrorist organisations in the region remain high. “Listings and sanctions by the UNSC are an effective tool to curb such threats and dismantle terror infrastructure in the region,” he said, adding India remains committed to pursuing a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and will continue to press the international community to take credible, verifiable and irreversible action against the menace.”

Who is Abdul Rehman Makki?

Abdul Rehman Makki was born in Bahawalpur, Punjab Province of Pakistan. He is the brother-in-law of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed. Abdul Rehman Makki is the second in command of Jamat ud Dawah, a banned terrorist organisation founded by Lashkar-e-Taiba chief and Mumbai blast mastermind Hafiz Saeed.

Makki has already been listed as a terrorist by India and the US under their domestic laws.

He has occupied various leadership roles within LeT, a US-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO). He has also played a role in raising funds for LeT operations.

Makki has been involved in raising funds, recruiting and radicalising youth to violence and planning attacks in India, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2010, Makki threatened “rivers of blood” in India, for not handing over Kashmir to Pakistan.

On November 4, 2010, the U.S. Department of the Treasury named Makki as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist pursuant to Executive Order 13224, as amended. As a result of this designation, among other things, all Makki property and interests in property subject to US jurisdiction were blocked, and US people were forbidden from engaging in any transactions with Makki.

Makki, an UN-designated terrorist on whom the US Department of State’s Rewards for Justice placed a USD 2 million bounty, was arrested on May 15, 2019, in Pakistan and placed under house arrest in Lahore. In 2020, a Pakistani anti-terrorism court convicted Makki on one count of terrorism financing and sentenced him to prison, according to the US State Department.

‘Naukri se nikaal deni chahiye’, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan once again loses her cool at fans trying to click her

0

Veteran Bollywood actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan, who has often made headlines for her angry outbursts, was once again seen losing her cool at fans and paparazzi when she arrived at the Indore airport with her husband, actor Amitabh Bachchan. “Aise logo ko naukri se nikal deni chahiye” (such people should be thrown out of their jobs), the actress-turned-politician said as she walked away lambasting fans and paparazzi for clicking her.

As per the paparazzi, Jaya Bachchan and her husband, the legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan travelled to Indore and the incident took place at the airport.

As seen in the footage of the incident that emerged on an Instagram account, Jaya Bachchan walked into the airport ahead of her husband. While she was interacting with a man who came with a bouquet of flowers, she noticed a fan recording her video. This infuriated Jaya Bachchan warned the individual, “Please don’t click my images”, she further added, “Do you not comprehend English?”

The person taking the video was pulled away by another man while telling him, “Aapko bataya tha na… (I told you not to),” and Jaya Bachchan is heard saying, “Aise logon ko naukri se nikaal dena chahiye (Such people should be sacked).”

The moment the video went viral on the internet, Instagram users couldn’t stop themselves from commenting on Jaya Bachchan’s arrogance. One of them wrote, “O hitler didi ??.” Another wrote, “Why do u guys take her picture..” A comment on the video read, “Don’t give her publicity, she doesn’t deserve it…”

Jaya Bachchan’s strong reaction is unsurprising given how frequently she has been in the news for her rude behaviour and antics. Last year in November, while talking to her granddaughter Navya Naveli and daughter Shweta Bachchan for the podcast ‘What The Hell Navya’, the Guddi actor said that she ‘hates it’ when photographers interfere in her personal space.

Prior to that, a video of Jaya Bachchan cursing a photojournalist had also gone viral on social media. Jaya attended Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai with her granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda on October 16 and there she was seen getting irritated with the media as she arrived at the venue. She was captured telling a media person who suddenly fell, “It does you good. I hope you fall twice.”

‘Everyone is born Hindu, even Jesus Christ and Muhammad’: TMC MLA Gautam Chowdhuri

0

A video of TMC MLA Gautam Chowdhuri saying everyone is born a Hindu has gone viral on the internet. In the video, Chowdhury insists that every human takes birth as a Hindu.

The leader further claimed that even Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad were born as Hindus.

“In Israel’s Bethlehem, Jesus Christ was born as a Hindu. He was turned into a Christian by mother Mary, and others. Muhammad taught people to read Quran, but everyone who takes birth on this earth, borns as a Hindu.

Gautam Chowdhuri is a Trinamool Congress MLA from the Howrah Uttar constituency. This is not the first time that Gautam’s remarks had created a flutter. Earlier, his statements claiming ‘TMC’ to be a company and Mamata Banerjee as a brand had stoked a stir, with the opposition BJP using his remarks to call out the party and its governance in West Bengal.

It is also worth noting that Gautam Chaudhari even took to the streets in protest against the municipality run by his own party on the issue of water logging in North Howrah. For this, Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee reprimanded him in an administrative meeting.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann orders the closure of a liquor factory in Ferozepur

0

On Tuesday, 17th January 2023, Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ordered the closure of a liquor factory in Zira town of the Ferozepur district of the state. Punjab’s chief minister shared this through a tweet from his Twitter handle in which he said, “After consulting legal experts, a big decision has been taken in the public interest. I have issued orders to close the Zeera Liquor Factory.”

Farmers in Ferozepur have been making the demand to close this alcohol plant for a long time. Accordingly, it was shut down by the Aam Aadmi Party leader.

It is notable that Punjab’s chief minister Bhagwant Mann has been in trouble due to his alcoholism in the past. He was caught allegedly drunk a number of times. A report said that Mann was deplaned from a flight to India in Germany as he was drunk. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) refuted the claims, saying Mann was not deplaned for being drunk. Earlier, AAP had claimed he was deplaned due to bad health.

In January 2019, Bhagwant Mann publicly promised that he would not drink anymore. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal had called it a ‘great sacrifice for the people’ at that time.

Shiromani Akali Dal leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal even raised the issue of Mann’s drinking habit in the parliament, something he has allegedly refused to let go of even after becoming the Chief Minister of Punjab. After becoming CM, reports have suggested he visited places, including Gurudwaras, while being in an inebriated state.

Kanjhawala Death Case: Accused Ashutosh gets bail with stringent conditions

0

Ashutosh Bhardwaj, an accused in the Kanjhawala case, has been granted bail by a Delhi court on 17th January 2023. Police had detained all the accused in connection with the painful accident of a young woman Anjali Singh on the 1st of January. One of the accused, Ashutosh, has managed to get bail from the Delhi court. The hearing of the bail application of accused Ashutosh was going on for several days in Rohini Court of Delhi.

The court has granted bail to Ashutosh on a bond of Rs 50,000. Rohini court put a condition that the accused will not leave Delhi without the permission of the court. The court also said that the accused will not tamper with evidence, and will not contact witnesses.

The Delhi Police had opposed Ashutosh’s bail arguing that the case was very serious and that they were in the process of imposing section 302 (for murder) in this case. Rohini court had earlier reserved the verdict on Monday, January 16, on the bail plea of the accused.

The Delhi Police counsel had claimed that the accused Ashutosh Bhardwaj had harassed and misled other accused persons in the case. The accused did not even inform the police about the incident, the Delhi Police counsel said. Ashutosh’s lawyer, on the other hand, argued that the accused was not in the car at the time of the incident. He argued that the charges against his client were bailable.

On Monday, the police said that the investigation was at a crucial stage. “We are in the process of adding a section for murder and some important witnesses in the case have to be examined. If released on bail, he may obstruct the investigation”, the police said.

The Blood Samples of the accused in the Kanjhawala case have been handed over to the Delhi Police by the FSL. It will now be clear whether the accused were drunk on the night of the incident. It will also be checked whether the deceased Anjali Singh had alcohol in her blood or not. It is being told that FSL has also prepared its report and soon, they will hand it over to the investigation team.

On January 1, 20-year-old Anjali Singh died in an accident in Kanjhawala. The woman was on her way home on a scooty when a car hit her and dragged her for about 12 km. The police had arrested seven people, including five occupants of the car, in connection with the case.

‘Don’t do this crime again’: Netizens mock Congress supporter over cringe Bharat Jodo Yatra ‘rap’, hail Dhinchak Pooja as a better artist

On Tuesday, one of the Congress supporters and social media users named Anam Ali released a ‘rap song’ praising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Bharat Jodo Yatra led by him. Ali also urged the viewers to share the video and make it reach Rahul Gandhi. However, the rap seemed so torturous that netizens could not stop hailing self-proclaimed rap artist Dhinchak Pooja, who was once upon a time criticized for terming her so-called art as rap music.

The netizens mocked Anam as she literally read out paragraphs in no rhythm in a ‘psalm’ which she termed was a rap. She described the Bharat Jodo Yatra and its journey and also read out the profile of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Netizens mock Anam Ali for her ‘rap’ on Bharat Jodo Yatra

The netizens shared memes, lauded Dhinchak Pooja, and criticized Anam for terming her attempt as ‘rap’.

After the video went viral, many people shared their funny reactions to it, with one person writing, “Don’t do this crime again,” meaning that the rap on its own is terrible and horrible. The user also included a meme where a man could be seen offering water to a woman which had subtitles that stated please drink some water.

Another person said that this is enough internet for him today, indicating that he had reached the saturation limit and would no longer use the internet.

Meanwhile, many users continued to praise Dhinchak Pooja and call Anam Ali as ‘cheap copy’ of the self proclaimed rap artist.

Further adding a fun meme from one of the popular Bollywood movies named ‘Hera Pheri’, a user identified as Umdar Tamker indicated that people unnecessarily criticized Dhinchak Pooja when Anam Ali is worst than her.

One of the Twitter users named Vikrant Kumar also hailed Dhinchak Pooja and said that Anam Ali’s Bharat Jodo Yatra rap had made the self proclaimed artist tolerable. “She made Dhinchak Pooja tolerable,” he tweeted as he quoted the video shared by Anam Ali.

One user offered another hilarious perspective, writing that the Congress party would not support a song like this due to the poor quality of the rap. The user also included a meme in which individuals are seen pleading to stop this.

Another person said that he felt envious of deaf individuals, suggesting that the music is so horrible that he wishes he had never heard it before.

According to the Twitter bio of Anam Ali, she is hard core Congress supporter and calls herself ‘Ambedkarwadi’. She is from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and usually keeps on posting ‘rap videos’ from her home terrace on Twitter. Earlier on December 6, Anam had posted a ‘rap’ on Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and had again read out paragraphs in no rhythm, calling it a ‘rap’.

‘Rap’ artist Dhinchak Pooja

Pooja Jain, popularly known as Dhinchak Pooja on the other hand came into a rise in the year 2015 after she released her first cringe pop song named Swag Wali Topi. Later she self-proclaimed herself as a rap artist, YouTuber and went on to release more cringe raps like Daaru (2016), Selfie Maine Leli Aaj (2017), Dilon Ka Shooter (2017), Baapu Dede Thoda Cash (2017), and Aafreen Fathima Bewafa Hai (2017).

Though Dhinchak Pooja managed to obtain millions of views on every individual release, her songs have received widespread criticism, and she has been regarded as part of a new trend of creating cringe-worthy videos to obtain web popularity. YouTube banned all of the song videos on June 11, 2017, in response to an individual complaint of privacy infringement.

Anam Ali’s rap released on January 16 was widely criticized and mocked by the netizens today, so much so that they felt tolerating Dhinchak Pooja would have been more easy.

‘My gender is emotions of straight people being utterly confused’: ‘Non-binary bio male’ expresses euphoria over ambiguity of gender expression

A non-binary adult male has shared on TikTok that they feel euphoric when people are unsure about their gender expression. The user, reportedly an LGBTQ activist, said that it gives euphoria to instil chaos and see people confused about the individual’s gender identity.

In a video shared by the popular Twitter handle Libs of TikTok, a TikTok user who identifies as non-binary, shared in a video that they have been misgendered as a woman, even to the point of being called “ma’am” or “Miss”. The user, who goes by the handle @ange_heim, stated that while this is not correct, they find it amusing and exciting.

According to Ange, the fun and chaotic part involve responding to the innocent and polite greeting in the deepest voice possible, “in a way that makes them go, what?”

“I think that my gender is the emotions of straight people being utterly confused,” said Ange, impishly. “Like I just want to instil chaos.”

“That’s my pronouns. That’s my gender. That’s my identity. That’s my sexuality. It gives me all the euphoria to cause f*ckery,” Ange added.

Ange’s views are in line with the queer theory that views challenging and subverting traditional gender norms and categories as a means of combating societal oppression. Queer theorists argue that these norms, such as the binary distinctions of male and female, man and woman, and adult and child, oppress individuals and limit their self-expression.

The queer theory views any form of subversion of traditional gender norms as a means of liberation from societal oppression. Examples of this include drag queens reading stories to children and adults expressing their gender in a non-conforming way, including the use of they/them pronouns. Such acts are seen as revolutionary in challenging and dismantling the societal oppression perpetuated by the heterosexual white male norm.
