Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to fund construction of two oxygen plants in Ayodhya

0

In view of the ongoing oxygen scarcity across India, the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust announced today that they will be providing funds for the installation of two oxygen plants in Ayodhya district. These two oxygen plants will be constructed at Dashrath Medical College. The trust was established by the Government of India in order to construct the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Temple in Ayodhya.

According to Shri Ram Teerth Janmbhoomi Kshetra trustee Dr. Anil Mishra, the entire country is combating the COVID-19 virus, therefore the Trust decided to aid in this fight by installing an oxygen plant at the cost of Rs 55 lakhs.

The Trust, which is overseeing the construction of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, has collected more than 2,500 crore rupees in donations from over 10 crores devout Hindus. It is presumed that funding for the construction of the oxygen plants will come from these donations.

The Trust is also planning to build a “Darshan point”, which will allow devotees to witness the construction of the Ram Mandir. This point will be located at a spot that gives a wide view of the construction area.

As PM Modi cancels Bengal rallies to hold COVID-19 meet, here is how many times Mamata Banerjee attended the review meeting in past few months

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has cancelled his rallies in West Bengal on the 23rd of April. Instead, he will be chairing high-level meetings to help combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will address four rallies on Friday.

Mamata Banerjee, over the course of the past 3 months, has not attended even a single meeting between Chief Ministers and the Prime Minister. She skipped both the meetings, one in March and another in April, and busied herself in campaigning for the elections instead.

Prime Minister Modi will address a meeting between Chief Ministers of high burden states at 10 a.m. Mamata Banerjee is expected to skip that meeting as well.

While the ‘intelligentsia’ has been extremely critical of political rallies by the BJP, it has chosen to give other political parties a free pass. Thus, while Narendra Modi has cancelled his rallies in West Bengal in light of the surging Covid-19 cases in the state, Banerjee appears to be at perfect ease to continue her campaign unabated.

All political parties, the Congress party, Trinamool Congress and the CPI(M), and not just the BJP, have been campaigning heavily and gathering huge crowds amidst the ongoing elections in West Bengal.

TikTok Star Funbucket Bhargav, of OMG fame, arrested for raping minor girl

Chippada Bhargav alias Funbucket Bhargav, a TikTok star who gained popularity for his video featuring OMG girl Nithya, was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh Police on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in Visakhapatnam.

As per reports, the Police arrested him in Kompally, Hyderabad and booked him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Section 376 (Punishment for sexual assault) and 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

The famous line “Oh my God! Oh my God!” that was used in Bhargav’s videos with Nithya was picked up by several brands, including Twitter, Netflix and Swiggy. The case of sexual assault against him came to light when the victim’s family filed a complaint on April 16 at Pendurthi Police Station under the Visakhapatnam commissionerate. Reports suggest that the family filed a complaint after coming to know that the victim was four-month pregnant.

The case was transferred from Pendurthi to Disha Police in Visakhapatnam as they deal with crimes against women and children in Andhra Pradesh. These stations were set up after the horrific gang-rape and murder of a Hyderabad-based vet in 2019.

Disha Assistant Commissioner of Police Prem Kajal said that the accused had promised the victim offers in media channels after seeing her in TikTok videos. She said, “He had proposed to the survivor, and she had rejected him. But he blackmailed her, saying he had her explicit videos. The survivor is also pregnant.”

She also added that the accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate and has been sent to remand till May 3. The Police also seized a mobile phone and a white coloured Nissan vehicle from Bhargav. The Police has also warned the people against sharing the victim’s photograph on social media as it is against the law. Anyone found posting the photograph would be dealt with as per the law.

Actor Nithya clarified she is not the victim

After the news of Bhargav’s arrest broke out on social media, several users assumed that the victim is 15-year-old Nithya, who is popularly known as the “Oh My God” girl. Nithya came forward and issued a statement in a video message and said that she is not the victim in the case.

Nithya claimed that she learnt about the allegations against Bhargav from social media. She said, “It is true that Bhargav got arrested but I am not related to that case in any way. I have come to know about this from social media after my followers have been messaging me and sending links. They were asking me what happened, even I don’t know.”

She further added that meme-makers and Youtubers are using her name, and they do not know anything about the case. “I hope you all would delete such videos if you people are not doing this intentionally. People are sending me messages feeling bad about me, but I’m fine here at the shoot,” she added. She also said that it had been around a year since she met Funbucket Bhargav and no longer shoots with him.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was at the helm of a high-level meeting in order to tackle the issue of declining oxygen supply across the country. The officials at the meeting informed the PM about the efforts undertaken to improve oxygen supply, in addition to discussing ways to help boost its availability.

In the meeting, the officials noted that over the last few days, availability of Liquid Medical Oxygen in India has increased by about 3,300 MT per day with contributions from private and public steel plants, industries, oxygen manufacturers as well as through prohibition of supply of oxygen for non-essential industries.

The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to PM, Home Secretary, Health Secretary & Officials from Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ministry of Road Transport, Pharmaceuticals, and NITI Aayog members.

PM Modi was informed that the present demand of oxygen from 20 states 6,785 MT/ day of Liquid Medical Oxygen and that from April 21 onwards, the Government of India was allocating 6,822 MT/ day to these states.

The Prime Minister further placed huge importance on faster transportation of oxygen to the states, with railways being utilized for rapid and non-stop long-distance transport of oxygen tankers. Similarly, the Indian Air Force is being used to airlift oxygen tankers, essential medicines, etc. The PM also highlighted the need for states to clamp down on hoarding.

Order passed by Union Health Secretary

In light of the high-level meeting chaired by the PM, an order was passed subsequently in order to secure and boost the supply of Medical Liquid Oxygen in India. Here are some of the highlights from the order:-

  1. No restrictions on the movement of Medical Oxygen between the States to be imposed. Transport authorities shall be instructed accordingly to allow free inter-state movement of oxygen-carrying vehicles.
  2. No restrictions to be imposed on oxygen manufacturers and suppliers to limit their supply to only the one state or UT they are located in.

The high-level meeting, along with the order passed by the Government will hopefully allow India to properly boost its supply of Liquid Medical Oxygen in order to help COVID-19 patients across India.

Rakesh Tikait organises Iftar party while protesting, declares Ghazipur border his ‘home’ even as COVID-19 cases continue to rise

0

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait gave a miss to all Covid-19 norms at an Iftar party organized at the Ghazipur border at a time when the nation recorded over 3 lakh new coronavirus cases.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Tikait can be seen dining in close proximity to a large group at the protesting site.

More than the party, it is Rakesh Tikait’s response justifying the Iftar party that has stumped the nation.

“Gathering of 50 people is permitted by the government. There were 22-35 people. Nobody met with each other, no one shook hands,” Tikait said despite the video showing otherwise.

Tikait declares Ghazipur as his home

Despite being held responsible for occupying public space and deliberately interrupting the transportation of medical oxygen supply critical to saving the lives of Covid-19 infected patients, Tikait declared the Ghazipur border as their home.

“Farmers are at their home. Where else will we ask them to go? Is Corona spreading from here? We’ve been living here for the last 5 months, it’s our home now…Many farmers took the vaccine but are struggling to get the 2nd dose. We’ve told officers to set up camp here,” he added.

The unfortunate statement was made at a time when the national capital recorded 24000 new coronavirus cases and the city is facing an acute shortage of medical oxygen, hospital beds and testing facilities depleting rapidly.

To add to the woes of the country battling the second wave of the coronavirus, the Bhartiya Kisan Union has announced a march to Delhi on April 21 in order to protest against the Farm laws.

Stir to continue

The farmer leader insisted that the protest will not be called off brushing off the gravity of the pandemic. “Lockdown may be imposed in the entire country, but the farmers’ stir will continue. The requisite Covid guidelines will be followed by the farmers sitting at the protest sites,” Tikait informed.

While on his visit to Jammu, Tikait had asserted that the ‘farmers’ agitation was not Shaheen Bagh that can be ended in the name of coronavirus.

Bombay High Court considers temporary ban on cigarettes citing Covid-19

Bombay High Court while hearing a plea on the acute shortage of Covid-19 essentials in Maharashtra questioned if there is any data available on the number of smokers who succumbed to Covid-19 in the past year. Asking if there’s a study or result that shows smoking contributes to Covid-19, the High Court said it will consider putting a temporary ban on the same.

The division bench headed by CJ Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni had sought a response from the Union as well as the Maharashtra government on a plea filed by a petitioner alleging that the medical treatment crisis is a violation of fundamental rights of the citizens in the state.

Advocate Arshil Khan appearing for the petitioner stated that the “second wave of the pandemic is already in motion” and that the government at the Centre and state, as well as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, failed to systematise the medical treatment.

The bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice GS Kulkarni though acknowledged the petition but raised objection to the reliance on political comments in the plea questioning the intent of the plea.

The hearing continued today where the attorney general gave a point to point response on the manufacturing and distribution of Remdesivir, allocation of the drug to each state, oxygen supply for the state of Maharashtra through ‘oxygen express’ and bed management.

It is during the hearing that the Bombay High Court bench demanded if there’s any study that establishes a link between Covid-19 and smoking.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Thursday took suo moto cognizance of issues related to oxygen supply, drug supply and vaccine policy in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic. CJI Bobde said that at least 6 High Courts are considering cases related to pandemic management.

The CJI informed, “We as a court wish to take suo motu cognizance of certain issues. We find that there are 6 High Courts -Delhi, Bombay, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta and Allahabad-. They are exercising jurisdiction in best interest. We appreciate that. But it is creating confusion and diversion of resources.”

“We want to issue notice for a national plan on these issues. We will issue notice and keep the matter tomorrow,” CJI Bobde added.

Prime Minister Modi cancels political rallies on 23rd April in West Bengal, to hold a high-level meeting to review COVID-19 situation

Amidst the raging second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and informed that he was cancelling his political engagements in West Bengal tomorrow (23rd April).

Prime Minister Modi also informed that he will be holding a high level meeting to review the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country.

For the last few weeks, India has been grappling with a resurgent coronavirus outbreak that threatens to overwhelm the country’s health care system. States across the country, particularly Maharashtra and Delhi, started reporting an alarming spike in the daily new cases, contributing immensely to the rising tally of the COVID-19 cases.

Over 2.5 lakh new coronavirus cases are being reported for the last few days, the highest since the start of the pandemic last year. Hospitals across the country, especially in the hotspot regions, are swarmed with patients infected with the virus and the health complications it brings in its wake.

Consequently, the country’s health care infrastructure came under tremendous strain as the number of people seeking medical intervention to combat COVID-19 grew exponentially. Unavailability of isolation and ICU beds, shortages of oxygen supplies and vital medicinal drugs such as Remdesivir were reported from several parts of the country.

Amidst the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic, West Bengal polls saw all political parties holding political rallies. While a political slug fest broke out, it was proved that not just the BJP, but other political parties including TMC and CPIM were holding massive rallies in West Bengal as the state votes in 8 phases.

Indian Air Force, Railways step in to transport oxygen cylinders, essential medicines to combat COVID-19

The Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Railways’ “Oxygen Train” are both helping in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the country, through transporting medical personnel, critical equipment, and essential medicines to COVID-19 hospitals and facilities across the country. India is currently facing a shortage in oxygen supply, with many hospitals around the country running out of O2.

In a statement on Twitter, the IAF said, “The IAF transport fleet is supporting the fight against Covid-19. Airlift of medical personnel, critical equipment, and medicines is underway for Covid Hospitals and facilities across the country.”

Indian Railways is now operating “Oxygen Express”, a train carrying oxygen tankers from Lucknow to Varanasi, which made the journey in just 4 hours 20 minutes, covering a distance of 270 Km at a speed of almost 62km/h.

Railways Minister Piyush Goyal on Twitter announced the establishment of a green corridor along the tracks of the Oxygen Express in order to make sure the train travels faster and more smoothly, without any red signal stopping it.

Here are some images of Indian Railways carrying liquid oxygen from Lucknow to Bokaro which will be taken to Madhya Pradesh.

Tankers are being sent to plants for filing medical oxygen which is then being transported to hospitals.

Defense Minister told Armed Forces to be prepared for helping to combat COVID-19

In a recent virtual meeting, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was briefed about the measures taken by AFMS, DRDO, Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), and other departments of the Ministry of Defence such as the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in providing aid to the civil administration in this time of need.

Rajnath Singh further urged the DPSUs, OFB, and DRDO to work on a war footing in order to provide oxygen cylinders and extra beds to civil administration and state governments as soon as possible.

India is also planning on importing oxygen tanks and other equipment from foreign countries, with the Central government is planning to utilize the IAF for airlifting oxygen containers and critical equipment and supplies from other countries.

The Central government announced on Wednesday evening that it was increasing the quota of oxygen in eight states, including Delhi, because of the sudden spike in demand due to a surge in the number of COVID-19 patients admitted in hospitals.

India has reported a total of 15,930,965 COVID-19 cases, with 13,454,880 recoveries and 184,672 deaths as of April 22, 2021.

Congress’ attack against Covishield continues, now spreads fake news of ‘one vaccine, 3 rates’ from official Twitter handle

The Congress party and its leaders seem to have a special animosity against India’s leading industries and crucial manufacturers for some unknown reason. Congress has been relentlessly attacking ‘Made In India’ vaccines. After spreading baseless claims, and rumors about Covaxin, yesterday, Congress and Rahul Gandhi had tried to castigate the Serum Institute of India and its CEO Adar Poonawalla as greedy corporates who are looting the public.

Today, Congress continued its lies. Tweeting from its official handle, the party claimed that the Serum Institute has fixed three different prices for the Covishield vaccines for supplying to the Central government, state governments, and private hospitals.

The party presented it as a statement from interim president Sonia Gandhi.

What is the truth?

In a detailed talk with CNBC, Serum CEO Adar Poonawalla had explained that the company has been supplying the Covishield doses to the government of India (GOI) at the discounted rate of Rs 200 only for the first 100 million doses as agreed by both parties, as the SII had promised to supply the first 100 million doses at the lower rate. They had told earlier that they will sell the next doses at the price of Rs 1000.

“We’ve given a special price of Rs 200 for the first 100 million doses only to Government of India on their request that we want to support common man, vulnerable, poor, healthcare workers. After that we’ll be selling it at Rs 1000 in private markets,” the SII CEO had said in January.

However, after the first 100 million doses, the GOI had signed another contract with SII to procure another 110 million doses at the discounted price of Rs 200. After the said 110 million doses are delivered, the company will charge GOI Rs 400/ dose, the same price at which it has said it will sell to the state governments.

The previous low price was a part of SII’s commitment to GOI and some other countries for sharing the risk of production. That is, paying SII in advance even when the vaccine was yet to get approval. This money, obtained as supply credit, has enabled SII to enhance its production lines and keep millions of doses ready when the approval came.

Hence, SII’s announcement of a lower rate for the Centre is only for the 110 million doses, not after that. After the current ‘under contract’ 110 million doses are delivered, SII will sell to GOI at Rs 400 per dose, same as states. Both the center and states will have to purchase the vaccine doses at the same price. SII is selling to private hospitals at a slightly higher price, but compared to other available vaccines, the prices are still very low. The company cannot keep producing vaccines at loss, as Poonawalla had explained.

All the lies misinformation against the vaccine supply, centre’s vaccination drive, pricing and other issues were debunked in our article here.

The central government is buying for states only, a fact that Congress pretends to forget

Moreover, all the procurements of the vaccine doses by the centre are for further supply to the state governments only. It is not like the Union Cabinet is going to sit on the millions of doses of vaccine or BJP ministers are going to drink it. Assumptions that the centre is being ‘benefitted’ or ‘favoured’ somehow by procuring vaccines from Serum at the lower rate are stupid.

So far, the GOI has vaccinated healthcare workers, frontline workers, senior citizens, and persons above 45 years of age in every state free of cost. In the future too, the GOI will keep vaccinating people free of cost. The only difference is, state governments now have the option of buying doses on their own and vaccinate people, as was demanded by many CMs.

Many states like Bihar, UP, Assam, and Chhattisgarh have already declared that they will get doses and will vaccinate people for free. All the doses procured by the center will also be distributed to states only. The Congress’ narrative of the GOI ‘getting vaccines for cheap’ and keeping it away from states are utterly false and malicious.

the vaccines were already being sold in private hospitals at Rs 250, Congress never had a problem

On March 1, when the GOI announced vaccination open for senior citizens and people above 45 with co-morbidities, it was also announced that vaccination will be free in government-run centers all over India, and private hospitals can vaccinate people at a price cap of Rs 250. All those vaccine doses being administered all over India in every state were supplied by the GOI. But at that time, Congress never had a problem with the ‘price difference’.

Many of the Congress leaders, including the party’s top leadership, have been openly critical of Made In India vaccines, and some CMs and senior leaders have even actively spread misinformation against the vaccines. India’s vaccines are among the cheapest in the world, and India is running the world’s largest mass vaccination drive, many times larger than populations of the UK and US. The Congress’ tendency to politicize and fearmonger over an issue as crucial as vaccination against the coronavirus in the middle of a pandemic is one of the worst kind of politics seen in recent history.

18+ can register for Covid vaccination from April 28. Here is the procedure

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan has informed via a tweet that the registration for citizens above 18 years of age will open on the Cowin platform on April 28. He added, “#LargestVaccineDrive Phase 3 – begins on May 1.”

India announced Phase 3 of the vaccination program

On April 19, the government of India has announced that anyone from 18 years to 45 years of age can get the Covid-19 vaccine in phase three of the Largest Vaccination Drive in the world. The government allowed the vaccine manufacturers to supply 50% of the products directly to state and private players. Notably, the union government will provide vaccines only to those who are above 45 years of age. Those who are between 18-45 years of age will get the vaccination from their respective states or private players.

Price of vaccine for states and private hospital announced

It has to be noted that the price of the vaccine has been set by the Serum Institute of India at Rs.400 for the state and Rs.600 for the private hospitals. The union government will continue to provide the vaccine free of cost at its centers like before.

News outlets and journalists spread misinformation about the registration date

Some journalists and some news outlets were found spreading misinformation about the registration date for Phase 3. While the registration is starting on April 28, they posted the registration date as April 24. Runjhun Sharma of CNN News18 had posted a tweet and said the registration will start in the next 48 hours. Though several netizens corrected her, she had not deleted the post till the time this report was published.
