Delhi: COVID positive minor girl sexually assaulted by another patient at ITBP facility, case registered

The Delhi Police has reportedly arrested a man and his accomplice for sexually assaulting a minor girl and filming her at a Coronavirus care centre, managed by the ITBP, in the national capital. The incident took place on July 15. The victim, reportedly a 14-year-old girl, who was diagnosed with the Chinese virus, was admitted to the said facility earlier this month.

Reportedly, a 19-year-old boy sexually assaulted the victim while she was inside the bathroom of the facility. As per the report, his accomplice recorded the incident on his mobile phone. The duo was admitted to the facility around the same time the victim was admitted. The accused responsible for assaulting the minor girl was admitted to the ITBP Care centre along with a family member.

 An ITBP official has informed, “The men and women have separate bathrooms here. We are looking into the matter.”  The staff member stated that the victim had got up to use the washroom late at night and the accused entered the women’s toilet, despite separate washrooms. The victim is currently undergoing counselling session and has been kept at another facility with a family member. According to a senior district administration official, CCTV cameras have been installed and that arrangements have been made to accommodate everyone. The official conceded, “The SHO has the complaint, and two men have been held The police will submit their report and then judicial proceedings will take place.”

Police action against the accused

The victim informed about the said incident to her family members, following which a complaint was filed with the ITBP doctors working at the facility. They subsequently informed the police who then took cognizance of the incident. According to the additional DCP (South district)  Parvinder Singh, a case had been registered against the duo under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and Section 376 (lays down punishment for sexual assault) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). 

He, however, added that the perpetrators will be under institutional care until they recover from the disease.  “We are investigating the matter further,” Singh emphasised. As per the report, the accused have been shifted to AIIMS. The police informed that the accused will be put behind bars after the duo tests negative for the Wuhan Coronavirus.

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has reportedly accused Agrasain Gehlot, the elder brother of incumbent Rajasthan CM Ashok Gahlot, of deliberately being a part of a ‘smuggling syndicate’ that executioner the ‘fertiliser scam’. The accusations were made in an investigative report that was prepared jointly by DRI and custom authorities.

As per the Times of India report, a complaint was filed by the customs authority in early July, with regards to the case involving Agrasain Gehlot that dates back to 2013. The authority noted that the accused was privy to the fact that it was a smuggling syndicate. It stated that Gehlot had confessed to receiving ‘cash payment’ when he was interrogated with substantial documentary evidence at hand. Reportedly, the accused received kickbacks while fraudulently exporting potash, meant for farmers, through his firm Anupam Krishi to Saraf Impex Private Limited.

The total export of ‘subsidised potash’ weighed about 30,000 tonnes and was worth ₹130 crores. As per reports, the customs authority had also imposed a whopping penalty of ₹61 crores on Gehlot in 2013. According to a senior officer familiar with the investigation,  Gehlot was the ‘agent, dealer, and custodian’ of the subsidised fertiliser. When Times of India reached out to Agrasain Gehlot, he refused to respond to the accusations made by the DRI in the investigative report.

ED raids premises of Agrasain Gehlot

Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had raided the premises of Ashok Gehlot’s brother in connection with the fertiliser scam. Reportedly, the raids were conducted at six places in Rajasthan, including Jodhpur, two places in West Bengal, four in Gujarat and one in Delhi.

The Fertiliser Scam

According to an exclusive Opindia report, the fertiliser scam largely took place when Ashok Gehlot was leading the State government in Rajasthan and Manmohan Singh was leading the Central government in Delhi. It is alleged that Agrasain Gehlot, during the period 2007 to 2009, was part of a conspiracy to export tonnes of Muriate of Potash (MOP) against shipping bills by falsely declaring it mostly as Feldspar Powder or industrial salt; the total value was also falsely declared against the then correct actual value. This resulted in the diversion of items that were actually meant for the farmers.

On July 11, Congress selected one Latoya Ferns-Advani as Maharashtra Youth Congress’ Spokesperson and Media Coordinator.

Youth Congress is the youth wing of the grand old party Indian National Congress and is currently headed by Rahul Gandhi who is the chairperson. Latoya Ferns-Advani has studied at Durham University and University of Warwick if one to believe her LinkedIn profile which further describes her as a ‘media and policy strategist’.

Latoya Ferns-Advani, who likes to write columns in Pakistani publication like Daily Times believes that the terror organisation ISIS should be legitimised by giving the ‘fighters’ their own state. In an article on the Pakistani publication’s website, Ferns-Advani writes that by not identifying the ISIS as a ‘state’ we are not able to distinguish between ‘combatants’ and civilians. Latoya not only waters down ISIS terrorists as ‘combatants’ but also as ‘fighters’. She says that “ISIS fighters” not having to wear “identifiable fatigues” gives them the benefit of stealth and surprise attack. “Nevertheless, armed forces are still permitted to neutralise ISIS fighters as civilians directly participating in hostilities. Statehood for ISIS would aid counterinsurgency by obligating fighters to make themselves identifiable,” she argues.

Further, Latoya wants to ‘purge’ the word ‘terrorist’ which is used to describe, well, terrorists. She claims that the ISIS is “embodiment of the US’s haphazard democracy promotion and hurried exit strategy”. In reality, ISIS promotes religious violence, and regards Muslims who do not agree with its interpretations as infidels or apostates. As per Australian National Security website, since its formation, the ISIS has focussed on capturing and consolidating its control over areas of Iraq and Syria by stoking sectarian tensions between, and within, Sunni and Shia; capitalising on Sunni disenfranchisement. Maharashtra Youth Congress spokesperson wants to legitimise this.

In the same article, Latoya justifies the brutality and barbaric beheadings carried out by ISIS by saying that “state-formation throughout history has been brutal — beheadings in public squares acting as deterrents in the absence of policing.” We checked it twice, the article is not filed under satire. Maharashtra Youth Congress spokesperson actually wrote all this.

Whitewashing terrorists is not the only thing Latoya Ferns-Advani has done. She regularly likes to speak in the language of terrorists by taking ‘cow piss’ jibes on Hindus.

And thinks “BJP is certifiably insane” for the beef ban. And of course has a desire to go to Pakistan. If on odd days, her heart bleeds for Pakistan, on even days, she calls PM Modi a ‘Pakistani stooge’.

Latoya Ferns-Advani also likes to show solidarity for terror and riot accused.

She also believes that there is no evidence of Ram Mandir being there on the site where Babri mosque once stood.

Well, to be fair to her, as per her LinkedIn profile, she currently works at office of Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar.

Maharashtra govt to distribute Rs 1.80 crores to 121 Madarsas in the state for salaries of their teachers

The Maharashtra government-led by secular political parties of Shiv Sena, NCP and the Congress has announced to distribute Rs 1.80 crores as salaries to Islamic clerics and Madarsa teachers in the state.

According to the reports, Maharashtra’s Minority Development Minister Nawab Malik said that the Uddhav Thackeray-led government has decided to distribute Rs 1.80 crores among the teachers of 121 Madarsas in the state, for their salaries under Dr Zakir Hussain Madarsa Modernisation Scheme.

The Maharashtra government had launched the Dr Zakir Hussain Madarsa Modernisation Scheme to modernise these Islamic religious centres by developing infrastructure and for the appointment of teachers to educate children in modern subjects and grant of scholarships.

The scheme was launched in 2013 under the then Congress-NCP alliance government.

Need to borrow to pay salary in August: Maharashtra minister

Earlier in the first week of July, Maharashtra Minister Vijay Wadettiwar had said that the government was facing a severe funds shortage and will need to resort to borrowing to pay the salaries of its staffers from next month.

 A local court has sent a man named Khaleel to judicial custody for raping a 14-year-old girl in Sakran village, Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, reports Amar Ujala.

As per the report, on Wednesday, the accused raped the minor girl when she was alone in the fields. After committing the heinous crime, Khaleel threatened to murder the victim in a bid to silence her. When the girl was successful in getting out of his clutches, she reached home and informed her family members about the incident. The family then filed a complaint at the Sakran police station. The cops registered a case and also arrested the accused.

Communal tension in Sitapur

Meanwhile, the victim was sent to the District Women’s Hospital for medical examination. The incident has created tension between the communities as the victim and the perpetrator belonged to different religions. On Thursday, Assistant Superintendent of Police (North) Rajiv Dixit and CO Biswan Piyush Kumar took cognisance of the ground situation and patrolled the said village. Keeping in mind the sensitive nature of the case, a large contingent of police has also been deployed in the area.

With only days left for the historic event of Bhumi Pujan of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya on August 5, a Congress party supporter has filed in Allahabad High Court demanding a stay on the same by claiming that it is a ‘violation of the coronavirus guidelines’.

The petition filed by Congress supporter Saket Gokhale claimed that the Bhumi Pujan at Ayodhya is a violation of the ‘Unlock 2.0’ guidelines and demanded the court to stay the event in the interest of public health during a pandemic.

Saket Gokhale, in his petition, claims that the Uttar Pradesh government cannot allow the event to be held as per the Centre’s guidelines. Taking to Twitter, Gokhale said ‘Unlock 2.0’ guidelines issued by the MHA clearly prohibited religious gatherings of any kind.

The Congress supporter has also filed an RTI with the MHA asking if an exemption was given to the event and on what grounds. Gokhale has regularly indulged in spreading misinformation and falsehood over social media while casting aspersions on the Modi government.

Ram Mandir Bhumi Pujan event to be held on August 5, 150 to attend

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Ayodhya for Bhumi Pujan of Shri Ram Mandir on August 5. The ceremony will be graced by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath among several other invitees.

BJP stalwart and former deputy prime minister LK Advani, who was instrumental in shaping the Ram Mandir movement, is likely to accompany Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the historic event. The Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra has invited 150 guests – including Shiv Sena Supremo Uddhav Thackeray, BJP veterans Murli Manohar Joshi, Home Minister Amit Shah and social distancing norms will be followed.

The trust has estimated that construction of the temple will be completed in the next three years i.e by 2023. Approximately, 200 people will attend the event.

The body of a balayogi sadhu in Veer Baba temple premises in Sultanpur village in UP was found hanging from a tree, causing tension in the area. The deceased saint has been identified as 22-year-old Balayogi Satyendra Anand Saraswati Maharaj Naga Baba.

After getting information about the unnatural death, police have taken the body in custody and sent it for post mortem. After the Hindu saint’s body was found hanging from a tree in the temple premises, locals have alleged that it is a case of murder. They have alleged that he was killed first, after which his body was hanged from the tree to make it look like suicide. The police have started an investigation to find out whether it is a case of murder or suicide.

According to reports, Anand Saraswati had come to Sultanpur from Himachal Pradesh, and was living in the Veer Baba Mandir in Chhatauna village under Chanda police station for last several years. After the news of his death spread on Thursday, a large number of crowd gathered at the temple.

The police said that they will be able to tell whether it was suicide or murder only after the probe is complete and the post mortem report becomes available.

Govt of India bans Greta Thunberg ‘inspired’ Fridays For Future website after they spam Environment Minister’s mailbox

The government of India has banned Greta Thunberg ‘inspired’ website “Fridays For Future” after it spammed mailbox of Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar by sending thousands of emails to him.

According to the reports, the ‘Fridays for Future’ and two other websites have been blocked on government orders and have been charged under the cognizable and punishable criminal offence under Section 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

The action has been taken against the websites of ‘Let India Breathe’ and ‘There is No Earth B’, along with ‘Fridays For Future’.

Reportedly, ‘Fridays for Future’ or FFF India, had started in an online campaign on 4 June 2020 to protest against the Ministry of Environment’s Draft Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2020, which was issued on 23 March. The environmental activists had criticised the draft for diluting the green law and favouring rich builders. 

Following this, FFF India and climate ‘activists’ began to send several emails to email addresses for Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the Environment Minister, Prakash Javdekar.

As ‘activists’ associated with FFF India began to harass the minister by spamming his email account, Prakash Javdekar lodged a complaint with Delhi Police’s Cyber Crime Unit.

On 8 July 2020, the Delhi Police sent a notice to Big Rock, the domain name registrar, under section 79(3)(B) of the IT Act 2000 to block FFF India. Along with FFF India, two more initiatives involved in similar campaigns were also blocked.

“In the above-mentioned complaint of Hon’ble Cabinet Minister Shri Prakash Javadekar regarding the incident of getting multiple emails on his email address with the subject name similar to ‘EIA 2020’,” the notice regarding FFF India read.

The notice further reads, “After the investigation mainly below mentioned website is sending emails to him. Their unlawful activities on this website may disturb the peace, sovereignty of India.”

The notice further said, “The above website depicts objectionable contents and unlawful activities or terrorist act, which are dangerous for the peace, tranquillity and sovereignty of India. The publication and transmission of such objectionable contents is a cognizable and punishable criminal offence under Section 18 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.”

Fridays for Future, also known as School strike for climate, Youth for Climate, Climate Strike or Youth Strike for Climate, is an international movement of school students who take time off from class on Fridays to participate in demonstrations demanding action to prevent climate change. The movement began after student climate activist Greta Thunberg staged a protest in August 2018 outside the Swedish Parliament holding a sign that read “Skolstrejk för klimatet” or “School strike for climate”. Since then, the phrases have been used by climate activists across the world, even though they are directly not associated with Greta Thunberg.

A Delhi court on Thursday sentenced Geeta Arora alias Sonu Punjaban to 24 years in prison in connection with a prostitution and human trafficking case. The court also sentenced her accomplice, Sandeep Bedwel to 20-years of imprisonment.

While Sonu Punjaban has been convicted under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly forcing a minor girl into prostitution in 2009, Sonu’s accomplice Sandeep Bedwal has been imprisoned after he was found guilty of raping a minor girl who was 12-years-old at the time of the incident.

Sonu Punjaban had not only bought the minor girl but also subjected her to extreme brutality for making her “surrender” for the purpose of prostitution, noted the Delhi court while sentencing the notorious fresh trader to rigorous imprisonment.

The additional sessions judge Pritam Singh, in his 10-page order, observed: “She (the accused) forcibly administered drugs to the girl so that she could not resist a customer (man), who would sexually exploit her. She applied chilly powder on the breast of the girl and also put it into her mouth in order to create fear in her mind that she should act as per her wishes otherwise be ready to face brutality.”

Alarmed at how a woman could outrage and brutalise the modesty of another woman, that too a minor in such a horrific way, Pritam Singh noted that “Punjaban crossed all the limits to be called a woman” and said that she deserved the severest punishment under the law of the land. 

The court also stated that a person who commits such ‘horrific and terrible acts’ should be devoid of the right to live in a civilized society.

Sonu Punjaban is one of the most notorious names in flesh trade across northern India. According to police records, she ran one of the biggest prostitution rackets in Delhi and nearby states in early 2000. Her network of high-profile businessmen, dreaded gangsters and associates in police and politics had enabled her to evade the law multiple times while continuing to indulge in human trafficking.

Who is Sonu Punjaban alias Geeta Arora

Sonu Punjaban aka Geeta Arora, entered the murky business of flesh trade and human trafficking after she married gangster Vijay Singh. Soon after their wedding in 2003, Singh was killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF). She then got involved with another gangster named Deepak. Deepak to died in an encounter in Assam. Deepak’s brother, gangster Hemant Sonu, who supported her after the demise of his brother, ultimately married her. Geeta Arora took the name of her husband gangster Hemanu Sonu after he was gunned down in an encounter with the Special Cell at the Delhi-Gurugram border in connection with a double-murder case.

Punjaban was first arrested in 2007 on charges of immoral trafficking prevention. Ever since, she has been arrested multiple times. She was eventually booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in 2011. Her final arrest came in 2017, which landed her up in Tihar jail where she attempted suicide just a few days back.

According to the police, Sandeep Bedwal had befriended the minor girl and took her to a house in Laxmi Nagar in September 2009 on the pretext of marriage where he raped her. He then sold the girl, who was 12-years-old at the time, to a woman named Seema.

Based on the statement of the girl, police stated that Seema forced the girl into prostitution and even gave her drugs injection. The girl was sold several times and once to convict Sonu Punjaban.

Sonu Punjaban used her for prostitution and before sending her to customers also administered drugs such as proxyvon and alprex tablets, the police said.

The girl had come to Najafgarh police station on February 9, 2014, and after counselling, her statement was recorded by the police, where she narrated the incidents.

On July 16, Sonu Punjaban was convicted under IPC sections 366A, 372, 373, 328, 370, 342, 120B, and relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Her accomplice Bedwal was convicted under sections 363, 366, 366A, 372, 120B, 376 and 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave) of IPC. The duo was sentenced to 24 and 20 years rigorous imprisonment respectively on July 22.

As per reports, the body a man has been exhumed in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh by the police for autopsy. The police exhumed the body of 33-year-old Mohd Nasir one month after the burial following his death on 24th June. Nasir’s body was exhumed after his father and brothers alleged that he was murdered by his wife. The incident took place in Jamianagar locality that falls under Kirwali police station.

Nasir’s family members have alleged that his wife portrayed the murder as suicide, and “hurriedly” got him buried citing police and coronavirus pandemic threat. They also said that her two friends helped her in killing Nasir. They have alleged that the wife, Farhana, it’s having an affair with another man.

The police finally exhumed the body on Wednesday evening and sent it for autopsy. The police have also registered a case against his wife Farhana and two of her friends. SHO Anil Kepervan said in a statement that they received the complaint and exhumed the body for further investigation.

A week ago, Hindustan reported that Nasir and his wife used to fight over mobile calls. On the night of 24th June Nasir was found hanging from the ceiling of his room, after which his wife said that he had committed suicide. He was buried without informing the police about the incident. Farhana had allegedly told the family that they will be in trouble, and hence they had performed the last rites without informing the police, which is required for unnatural deaths.

But a few days later Nasir’s family members came forward claiming that they were misguided by Farhana to not inform police about the death, and lodged a complaint against her alleging murder. Accordingly, a case under section 302 (murder) of the IPC has been registered against her and her associates.
