Karnataka: ACB books Congress MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan in a disproportionate assets case, raids his 2 offices and 3 residential properties

On Tuesday, July 5, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted raids on the residence and office of Congress MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The ACB officials also registered a case against Khan in the disproportionate assets case and booked him based on Enforcement Directorate’s report.

According to the reports, the ACB officials raided 2 offices and 3 residential properties of Khan which include his residence in the Bengaluru Cantonment area, a flat in Silver Oak Apartment, a guest house at Sadashiv Nagar, GK Associates office at Banashankari, and National Travels Office in Kalasipalya in Bengaluru.

The officials have recovered several documents from the office and residential premises of Khan pertaining to the case. Reports mention that the officials are verifying the documents and are examining their relevance. BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has been a 4-time MLA of Chamrajpet Constituency and has served as the Minister of Food and Civil Supplies during the HD Kumaraswamy government.

It is important to note that Congress MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan has been on the ED’s radar for a long time, and has been raided in the past. In the year 2021, the Congress leader was raided by the ED in Rs 4,000 crore IMA Ponzi scheme in which thousands of investors were allegedly cheated in the name of halal investment that went bust in June 2019.

Reportedly, as the ACP officials raided the premises belonging to Khan on Tuesday, supporters of the MLA gathered in front of his residence in Bengaluru and staged a protest. They also accused the government of deliberately targeting Khan. However, the Police dispersed the protesters citing Karnataka High Court directions against protests within city limits.

On Monday (July 4), a piece of news about the stabbing of a 38-year-old Muslim man named Samiullah began doing the rounds of the internet.

The story was tweeted by several handles with Muslim names with the hashtag #JusticeForSamiullah. It was alleged that the man was a resident of the Chitradurga district of Karnataka and stabbed by a 22-year-old Hindu man named Nutan Gowda.

It was also claimed that the accused was a member of the Sangh Parivar and that the stabbing incident was a hate crime. “He is not the first victim and won’t be the last. As long as BJP (is) in power, Sanghparivar members lynching Muslims with impunity becomes the norm under BJP government,” wrote one Mohammed Shoaib.

Tipu Sultan Party President, Shaikh Sadeque, claimed that the lynching of Muslims is somehow increasing every day in the absence of a law.

“Karnataka Police is not showing any interest to take action against the accused. Will no action be taken against those who oppress Muslims”, wrote one Khan.

One Sana claimed that a bloodthirsty attacker from the majority community (Hindu) attacked Samiullah for the virtue of being a Muslim. The Twitter user also cast aspersion on the integrity of the police and said that no action was taken against the attacker.

The Truth behind the stabbing incident

The Chitradurga district police had debunked the ‘communal angle’ theory even before #JusticeForSamiullah began trending on Twitter.

In a statement, the cops informed, “On 02nd July 2022, a boy by the name Nuthan(22) stabbed Samiulla at Alur village, Hiriyur Tq, Chitradurga Dist,
Injured Samiulla is being treated at Basaveshwara Medical college & hospital (in) Chitradurga and he is out of danger.”

“Police have arrested Nuthan and he is being questioned. Investigation is on,” the police stated.

Additional Director General of Police( Law & Order) Alok Kumar clarified that there was no communal angle and that the incident was the fallout of a minor altercation between the victim and the accused.

“Wrongdoers will not go unpunished. Unconfirmed information should not be circulated,” he emphasised.

For the sake of disseminating real facts of the case, the Karnataka State Police published a fact-check on their website. It stated, “Upon verification, it is found that the incident has happened due to personal enmity between two individuals and there is no communal angle as such.”

The police further added, “The public is advised not to circulate such unverified/suspicious & misleading information on Social media platforms.”

Allgeations about police laxity in arresting ‘Hindu’ Nutuan Gowda and his crime being motivated by religion, as alleged by Muslim handles, turned out to be false and misleading.

Comfortably winning the crucial confidence vote in the Maharashtra State Assembly yesterday, CM Eknath Shinde slammed the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena for disrespecting the policies of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray in the last 2.5 years. He said that Shiv Sainiks could not raise voice for Hindutva and could not even speak about Veer Savarkar as Shiv Sena was in alliance with the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

“Shiv Sainiks had the worst experience in the last 2.5 years. Shiv Sena was with Congress and NCP. We Shiv Sainiks were barred from speaking about Hindutva or Veer Savarkar. During the 2.5 years, Congress had once insulted Veer Savarkar but we were not allowed to speak against the Congress. We Shiv Sainiks have suffered a lot in the last 2.5 years”, he said while addressing the assembly.

Taking a jibe at the NCP and Congress leaders, Shinde also added that Shiv Sainiks were also forced to keep quiet and were barred from taking action against those who had connections with Dawood. He reiterated that those Shiv Sena leaders who rebelled against the MVA government were a part of Shiv Sena, part of Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena.

“We have been staunch followers of Balasaheb’s and Anand Dighe’s principles who have always thought of people and not power. We will never rebel against their thoughts”, he said. Meanwhile, CM Shinde also stated that he never wanted the power but always wanted Shiv Sena and BJP to be in an alliance. He said that in 2019, BJP had agreed to elect the state Dy CM from Shiv Sena but the party led by Uddhav Thackeray wanted the CM’s chair.

Also, he said that after the MVA alliance was formed, the party had proposed his name for the CM’s chair but former Dy CM Ajit Pawar and his party had refused the proposal, and then Uddhav Thackeray was made the CM. “I didn’t utter a word even then. I supported Shiv Sena. But whatever happened later was not a good experience”, he said. He added that he tried 5 to 6 times to convince Uddhav Thackeray to rejoin hands with BJP but all his attempts failed.

He slammed the Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray and said that it had disrespected Balasaheb Thackeray who himself had allied with BJP in the past. It is important to note that Shiv Sena Supremo Balasaheb Thackeray had said that Shiv Sena would never ally with Sharad Pawar’s NCP. He had used the term scoundrel while rejecting the possibility of any alliance with Pawar. But Shiv Sena joined hands with NCP and Congress in the year 2019 to rule over the state of Maharashtra for 2.5 years.

Yesterday, the Eknath Shinde led government strolled past the majority mark and won the vote of confidence in the state Assembly. The new BJP-Shiv Sena alliance bagged 164 votes in the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly during the floor test conducted on Monday, July 4 and in a major setback, the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA was able to secure only 99 votes.

After winning the floor test, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis congratulated CM Eknath Shinde for winning the trust vote and thanked all the MLAs who supported the alliance. Meanwhile, Shinde also expressed gratitude to all the MLAs and lauded BJP for extending massive support. “Our numbers were less (than BJP’s) but PM Narendra Modi blessed us. Modi saheb told me before the swearing-in that he will extend all possible help to me. Amit Shah saheb also said he will stand behind us like a rock,” Shinde was quoted.

On Monday evening, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kapil Mishra posted on Twitter a screenshot of an email threatening to assassinate Mishra. In the tweet, the BJP leader tagged the Delhi Police Commissioner, indicating that action must be taken to identify the person and protect him.

The email has a subject written, “Kapil Mishra Aatankwadi Tumko Jyada Din Tak Jeene Nahi Denge Mere Aadmi Ka Ban Gaya Hai Planning Tumko Goli Maarne Ke Liye.” (Kapil Mishra, you terrorist, you’re not going to live long. My men have planned to shoot you.)

The name of the sender of the e-mail is Akbar Alam with the email ID [email protected]. From the screenshot, it can be seen that the mail has been sent at 07:48 PM on the 3rd of July. Mishra had raised funds for the slain Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal and had gone to meet his family in Udaipur.

It is worth noting that ex-BJP leader Naveen Jindal received beheading threats a few days earlier, with a video of the Udaipur beheading included in two subsequent emails from one Akbar Alam, who vowed to come and cut his head off. The viral clip of Udaipur Hindu man Kanhaiya Lal being butchered by Islamists was included in both emails. Kanhaiyalal was beheaded for his support of ex-BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

It is not yet clear whether the e-mails to Mishra and Jindal were sent by the same person. Both the e-mails have their senders named Akbar Alam. However, the email addresses of both the senders could not be matched because, in the screenshots shared by Jindal, the email IDs were hidden.

The uproar that erupted in response to ex-BJP spokeswoman Nupur Sharma’s statements has taken a deadly turn, with individuals being murdered and threatened with death by Islamists from all over the world.

Nupur Sharma has been receiving murder and rape threats for almost a month now, following a clip from a Times Now discussion in which she asked her Muslim co-panellist if she could make fun of their God the way Hindu gods were being mocked. During the argument, she made certain remarks about Prophet Muhammad that are described in Islamic texts. Mohammed Zubair, the co-founder of the Islamist apologist website Alt News, published the piece calling Sharma names, inciting an online mob to threaten her.

On July 4, Twitter briefly suspended serial abuser handle TeamSaath for targeted harassment. In a screenshot of the email shared by Team Saath’s Sushant Singh, it was clearly mentioned that the account was suspended for ‘Violating Twitter rules against abuse and harassment.

The tweet included in the mail was about the deletion of a Tweet where Team Saath had pushed for the suspension of an account. By the time we published the report, the Team Saath account was unsuspended by Twitter.

However, during the brief period, the account remained suspended, and an array of Liberals and Islamist apologists rushed to demand the unsuspension of the account. Interestingly, the majority of these had rallied to suspend other handles over alleged harassment.

Team Saath’s member, actor Sushant Singh, wrote, “Of course, it makes perfect sense, Twitter. Hate-mongers shouldn’t be called thus, and there must never be targeted harassment of professional trolls and abusers. May I suggest giving a Gold Tick to vile and abusive handles instead?

National Coordinator of All India Mahila Congress and riots accused Sadaf Jafar said, “Why is Team Saath handle suspended? They have been calling out hate mongers, is that a crime?”

Controversial journalist Sakshi Joshi said, “Why have u suspended Team Saath? Don’t u like an account that keeps Twitter at least fearful for abusers? On a daily basis, Women like us face harassment and abuses, and it’s only #TeamSaath that comes to every woman’s rescue.”

Team Saath, a notorious troll account, often targets netizens who express their views against the liberal ecosystem. In June this year, OpIndia reported that they had created a hit list of celebrities who championed the nationalist cause.

“After the grand success of @sachin_rt, @akshaykumar and @NSaina, the BJP government presents @TandonRaveena and @venkateshprasad as the new saviours of India,” the Twitter account of ‘Team Saath’, which has over 54,000 followers, including the likes of Rohini Singh, Sushant Singh, Swati Chaturvedi, Swara Bhasker and other such ’eminent’ leftist ideologues, tweeted.

Later they put out a list of celebrities who have been assertive and unapologetic about their Hindu identity and linked them to the BJP.

‘Team Saath’ has been working to mass report and get specific accounts suspended.

In fact, ‘Team Saath‘ has been notorious for misusing Twitter for online bullying and targeted harassment of individuals whose political views do not align with theirs. ‘Team Saath’ Official is the go-to Twitter account for left-liberals and rabid Islamists to silence nationalist voices in the country.

Previous suspensions did not teach Team Saath a lesson

This is not the first time the account got suspended. Earlier in 2021, the account was suspended for a brief period.

A report in Dainik Jagran has stated that in Jharkhand’s Garhwa, some members of Muslim community got a school prayer, that has been offered since years, changed. They said that since Muslim community forms 75% of the population, the prayer should be ‘as per them’. The school administration also succumbed to the pressure and changed the prayer.

The report further states that the Muslim community also objected to folding hands during the prayer and got the same to stop. Hindus fold their hands while offering prayer, greeting in ‘namaste’ and bow down their head as mark of respect. The school administration said that since past few months the people from Muslim community have been coming and creating a ruckus demanding change of prayer.

The report further states that on request of the school principal Yugesh Ram, the head of village Sharif Ansari asked the Muslim youth to not create a ruckus on school premises. But the people from Muslim community did not agree. Subsequently, the head of village, Ansari, passed on the instructions of local residents with regard to the prayer.

Government administration has reportedly been made aware of the local Muslim residents of the village forcefully getting the school prayer changed. The administration has said an investigation regarding the same will be carried out.

Indian High Commission appeals to Canadian authorities to stop screening of Hinduphobic film ‘Kaali’

On Monday (July 4), the High Commission of India in Ottawa urged the Canadian authorities to withdraw the screening of an objectionable film named after Hindu Goddess Kaali.

In a press release, it stated, “We have received complaints from leaders of the Hindu community in Canada about the disrespectful depiction of Hindu Gods on the poster of a film showcased as part of the ‘Under the Tent project at the Aga Khan Museum, Toronto.”

“Our Consulate General in Toronto has conveyed these concerns to the organizers of the event. We are also informed that several Hindu groups have approached authorities in Canada to take action,” the Indian High Commission in Ottawa remar

The press release concluded, “We urge the Canadian authorities and the event organizers to withdraw all such provocative material.”

Earlier on Saturday (July 2), Kollywood director Leena Manimekalai took to Twitter to inform about the launch of her film named ‘Kaali’. Showcased as a ‘performance documentary’, the movie poster instantly drew the ire of the Hindu community.

The poster depicted the character of Goddess Kali, holding an LGBTQ+ flag and smoking a cigarette.

Following the controversy, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged against director Leena Manimekalai for deliberately hurting religious sentiments.

In October 2020, a Kerala-based photographer named Dia John courted controversy after her Facebook post, depicting Hindu deities in a poor light, went viral.

She had uploaded two posts on Facebook where a female model, wearing a red saree, posed as a Hindu deity on the occasion of Navratri. The woman was seen holding a lotus in one hand and the Holy trident (Trishul) in the other hand.

She also had the mark of vermillion on her forehead and a conch shell was placed near her. Such photoshoots, depicting female models as Hindu goddesses to send across a social message, are a commonplace affair. However, in that particular case, the deity was seen smoking weed and also drinking alcohol.

Dia John’s scandalous Facebook post was accompanied by a caption that read, “A woman is considered a goddess but what is she treated like? Often made to seat on a pedestal of purity, innocence and tolerance, she is stripped of her individuality. Isn’t it time that we accept her humanity?”

The photographer had also tagged her team members namely, Aathira, Jacob Anil, Zohaib Zayi and Akshay Rajnith in the contentious Facebook post.

On July 5, a video of Ajmer Dargah Khadim Salman Chishti surfaced on social media platforms in which he threatened to kill the former spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nupur Sharma. In the video, Chishti, who is a history-sheeter with over 13 cases filed against him, including murder and attempt to murder, claimed that he would hand over his house to anyone who brings Sharma’s head. A case has been filed by Ajmer Police in the matter.

Notably, a few days ago the head of Ajmer Dargah Zainul Abedin Ali Khan had claimed Indian Muslims would not allow Talibanization in the country.

The video released by Chishti is similar to the one that was created before killing Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur. It is being said that the video is around 4-5 days old. In the video, he said, “I swear by my elders, I swear by my mother, I will shoot her openly. I swear by my children, whoever brings Nupur Sharma’s head, I will give this house to him.”

Further, he described himself as a ‘true soldier of Khwaja’ and tried to incite Muslims. As per reports, Khadim Gauhar Chishti of Ajmer Dargah had given a provocative speech during a silent procession taken outside the Dargah on June 17, in which slogans of “Gustakh-e-Rasool ki ek hi saza, sar tan se juda’ were raised.

Additional Superintendent of Police Vikas Sangwan said, “The investigation has been initiated in the case after registered FIR under relevant Sections of the Indian Penal Code.”

Interestingly, after Kanhaiya Lal was murdered, Ajmer Dargah Deewan Zainul Abedin Ali Khan claimed that Muslims in India would never allow the Talibanisation mindset to become a norm in the country.

In a statement, he said, “No religion promotes violence against humanity. Especially in the religion of Islam, all the teachings act as sources of peace. In the gruesome video that surfaced on the internet, some non-ethical minds committed a brutal attack on a poor man, which is received as a punishable sin in the Islamic world.”

On the one hand, the head of the Dargah talks about peace, while on the other hand, the Khadims of the Dargah provoke Muslims to kill Nupur Sharma.

Chhattisgarh police tries to arrest Zee News journalist from Ghaziabad for mistake in airing news related to Rahul Gandhi

Zee News journalist Rohit Ranjan on Tuesday took to Twitter to inform that without informing the local police, as required by the law for transit remand, Chhattisgarh Police was at his residence in Uttar Pradesh to pick him up.

To this, the Raipur police claimed that there was ‘no such rule to inform’ but despite that, the local police has now been informed. Raipur Police then advised Rohit Ranjan that he should ‘cooperate’ and join the investigation and put his defence in the court.

Ghaziabad Police has said that they are aware of the development and have reached Rohit Ranjan’s place.

Police has informed that procedures will be carried out as per rules.

FIRs were filed against Ranjan by Congress in Jaipur for running a video byte of senior Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi in wrong context earlier this month. Rahul Gandhi was commenting on vandalism of Congress office by SFI ‘activists’ in Kerala’s Wayanad where he referred to them as ‘children’ who ‘make mistakes’. His comments came soon after the brutal killing of Hindu man Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur by Islamists for supporting ex-BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma over her remarks on Prophet Muhammad. Zee Hindustan journalist Ranjan by mistake had alleged that the said quote was Rahul Gandhi condoning Kanhaiya Lal’s killers.

However, within hours, the contentious report was taken down and Ranjan had apologised on air for the same and expressed regret. Now, it seems another case has been registered against him in another Congress-ruled state, Chhattisgarh and the police have come to arrest him.

In inter-state arrest, the police of other state must inform local police station in whose jurisdiction investigation needs to be carried. The police must also seek cooperation from destination police station and an entry will be made for the same. Subsequent process of the CrPC (Criminal Penal Code) need to be followed and before the accused is being taken out of state, he/she must be produced in local police station and an entry is made in Daily Diary.

On Monday, 4th of July, Amravati Police Commissioner Arti SIngh dismissed reports that police were trying a ‘cover-up’ in the murder case of Umesh Kolhe. On the night of 22nd June 2022, Chemist Umesh Kolhe was killed by some Islamists in Amravati of Maharashtra for allegedly sharing a social media post supporting former Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Nupur Sharma. 

Speaking to ANI, the Commissioner said that they did not issue an official statement earlier as it was a blind and sensitive case for them. However, she denied reports that there was any attempt to cover up the nature of the crime.

Commissioner Arti Singh also denied media reports that police had tried to make it a case of theft and robbery initially. Commissioner Singh said that the initial FIR has no mention of theft or robbery and only the suspects were named in it. Since it was a blind case for them, they did not add any further details before investigating the case.

She also argued that if police had tried to cover up, then the subsequent details about the case won’t have emerged. She said that even BJP Rajya Sabha MP met her regarding the case and saw all the details and the progress police were making in the investigation. However, she said that she knows who is making allegations of a cover-up against the police. Amravati MP Navneet Rana had raised questions about the initial police investigation in recent days.

Umesh Kolhe murder case in Amravati

On the night of the murder, on June 22, Umesh Kolhe was on his way home with his son Sanket and daughter-in-law Vaishnavi on different bikes, when the culprits stopped him and then slit his throat using a Chinese knife. In the attack, Kolhe was attacked with a knife from the back of his neck and he was seriously injured. With heavy blood overflowing, Kolhe died on the spot.

As per the investigation, Kolhe’s old friend Dr. Yusuf Khan had instigated his murder over some whatsapp messages shared by Kolhe.
