West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh attacked in north Bengal, his car damaged by bombs and bricks thrown allegedly by TMC workers

In yet another attack on BJP leaders in West Bengal, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh was attacked in Cooch Behar ahead of the fourth phase of the assembly elections. Ghosh said that not just stones and bricks were hurled at his car and other vehicles in his convoy, but bombs were also thrown at them allegedly by TMC workers.

Dilip Ghosh said that the incident happened when he was returning from addressing an election rally at Sitalkuchi in North Bengal. While returning from Sitalkuchi, workers returning from a rally by CM Mamata Banerjee surrounded the convoy and attacked it. He also added that police remained mute spectator to this event.

Dilip Ghosh informed that he sustained injuries in the attack, as the convoy was attacked by guns, bombs, lathis, bricks from all the sides. He said that two bombs fell on his car. He said that more than 100 TMC workers had surrounded the convoy to attack it.

Dilip Ghosh posted live videos on Facebook after he came under the attack, where the extent of the damage sustained by his car can be seen. Visuals show that the window glass on his side of the was smashed with a big hole in it. The windscreen of the car also suffered damage as a result of the attack.

Ghosh had to wear a helmet in his car after he came under the attack.

In the meanwhile, Trinamool Congress has denied any role in the incident. TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh claimed that the attack was the result of clash between old and new workers of BJP in the state.

Marathi film producer Swapna Patker alleges Sanjay Raut threatened her old mother, filed false cases to torture her family

Dr Swapna Patker, a Marathi film producer and renowned psychologist, revealed in a series of tweets today that Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut threatened her mother of dire consequences, tortured her family and trapped her friends in bogus cases.

After addressing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking justice and fearing for her life, Dr Swapna has released a 40 tweet long thread detailing her complaint and allegations against Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut along with documented proof. In the letter to the PM, she had alleged she is being harassed, tortured and abused by Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut for the past eight years.

Dr Swapna in her thread claims that Sanjay Raut pressurized her mother and threatened to end her career if she does not oblige to him.

Narrating all the cases of torture and harassment, Dr Swpana alleges that she was trapped in a fake extortion case filed by Raut which was investigated by his good friend and encounter specialist, Praful Bhosale. Revealing the close tie between the two, she alleged that Raut invited Praful Bhosale to the music launch of her Marathi movie Balkadu and helped his brother get a flat cheaply in a popular builder’s residential project as a reward for torturing her.

It is interesting to note that retired ACP Praful Bhosale once worked under the ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh and was named in the same case for which ex-API Sachin Vaze was suspended 16 years ago.

In an attempt to validate her allegation of harassment, Dr Swapna informed that Raut sent friend requests on a popular social media platform to all her friends and family and threatened her peers.

Raut also allegedly tried to trap Dr Swapna in a fake prostitution racket, got her dream project ‘Dr Rakhmabai’ shelved and made attempts to auction her property by pressurizing the banks.

Once said to have vacationed together with the Raut family, Dr Swapna alleges that Raut tried to separate her from her family and got her only friend Santosh Raut, a builder trapped in a bogus case of extortion. She writes, Santosh was taken in custody and the case was led by Pradeep Sharma, another former encounter cop who incidentally was summoned by NIA today in connection to the ongoing investigation of Sachin Vaze.

Dr Swapna had filed a writ petition in the Mumbai High Court, however, the hearing which was supposed to take place today was deferred yet again as informed to OpIndia.

The film producer said that she is in constant fear of her and her family’s safety and is trying to get her matter heard.

Sachin Vaze writes an explosive letter to NIA court about extortion bids by Maharashtra ministers: Read the FULL text of the letter

In another explosive development in the Antilia bomb scare case, prime accused Sachin Vaze has now written a letter to the NIA court, confirming the allegations of former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh that home minister Anil Deshmukh had asked him to extort money from businesses. Additionally, he also alleged that Transport Minister Anil Parab too asked him to run an extortion racket.

That soon after my reinstatement there were certain attempts to reverse the reinstatement. Apparently then it was ordered by Hon Mr. Sharad Pawar to again place me under suspension. This was told to me by the Hon. Home Minister Mr. Anil Deshmukh over a phone from Nagpur.

That, at that time Hon. HM sir also told me that he will convince Hon. Pawar Saheb and for that purpose he (Hon. HM Sir) asked me to pay ₹ 2 crore. I had expressed my inability to pay any such an amount. On this, the Hon. HM sir asked me to pay it in later course.

That, in the month of October 2020, I was called by the Hon. HM sir in Sahyadri Guest-…

… scam case. There he reminded me of the ₹ 2 crores to be paid. I still expressed my inability to pay the same.

That, in the month of November 2020 I was approached by one person viz. Mr. Darshan Ghodawat. The said Mr. Ghodawat introduced himself a very close circle person of Hon. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Ajt Pawar. The said Mr. Chodawat explained me about illegal Gutkha & Tobacco trade within the jurisdiction of the State of Maharashtra and also gave me certain details such as phone numbers etc.

That, the said that Mr. Ghodawat insisted that I should collect a monthly amount of ₹ 100 crores from these illegal Gutkha sellers. I had categorically denied to do any such illegal act. On my denying he (Mr. Ghodawat) warned me that I may either lose my post again.

That, since the 1st day of 2021 I started all-out efforts against illegal Gutkha sellers within the jurisdiction of Mumbai. Crores of worth rupees illegal Gutkha was seized and action was initiated against the owners of factories too.

That, on such action, Mr. Ghadawat came to my office and conveyed displeasure expressed by the Hon. Dy CM sir to him regarding initiation of action against these manufacturers and insisted me to ask those manufactures to meet either him or directly to the Hon. Dy CM sir. I categorically denied to comply to what Mr Ghodawat was insisting.

That, in the month of July / August 2020, I was called by Hon. Minister My. Anil Parab Saheb at his official bungalow. It was the same week in which the internal orders for DCP postings in Mumba was revised in 3/4 days. That, in the month of January 2021, I was called by the Hon. Minister Parab Saheb again called me at his official bungalow and asked me to look into enquiry against fraudulent contractors listed in the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation. He told me to collect at least ₹ 2 crores from about 50 such contactors. The said enquiry is undergoing on an anonymous complaint. The said enquiry was under preliminary enquiry in the CIU and till my transfer from the CIU nothing insinuating was found.

That, in the month of January 2021, I was called by the Hon. Home Minister saheb at his official bungalow “Dyaneshwar”. PA Mr. Kundan was present there. The Hon. Minister sir told me there are approx. 1650 bars and restaurants in Mumbai and told me to collect ₹ 3 to 3.5 lakh each from these for him.

That, on this I told Hon. HM sir that as far as I know there would be about 200 bars and not 1650 as he was anticipating. I also told the Hon. HM sir that I would not be in a position to collect any amount from any such bar for him as it was beyond scope of my capabilities. Immediately after coming out of his chamber his PA Mr. Kundan advised me that I must comply with the instructions of the Hon. HM sir if I wish to keep my job and post intact. I still refused.

That, immediately after this meeting, I narrated the happenings to the Hon. CP sir. I also expressed my apprehension that sometime in near future I would be embroiled in a false controversy. The Hon CP sir encouraged me and categorically instructed me to not to involve in any such illegal collection of money from anyone and for anyone.

Your honour, I am putting these facts before you have to get justice for me.

And for this act of kindness I shall ever pray.

Sachin Vaze’s explosive letter to NIA court where not just Anil Deshmukh but Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena’s Anil Parab also feature: Read full details

In another explosive development in the Antilia bomb scare case, prime accused Sachin Vaze has now written a letter to the NIA court accusing Anil Deshmukh and Anil Parab of extortion. In the letter, Vaze claims that he was told to pay former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh Rs 2 crores if he wants to be let back into the police force. It is pertinent to note that Vaze was dismissed from the police force after he was accused in the custodial death of one Khwaja Younis. Thereafter, he had joined the Shiv Sena.

In his handwritten letter, Sachin Vaze has claimed that NCP chief Sharad Pawar was against his reinstatement into Mumbai Police in 2020 and wanted it to revoked. It was to this that Deshmukh had told him to cough up Rs 2 crores. Sachin Vaze has also claimed that Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab (who belongs to Shiv Sena) had asked him to extort Rs 2 crore each from 50 contractors associated with the BMC.

From the letter, it seems evident that Sachin Vaze is trying to insinuate that he is being implicated in the Antilia bomb case as he allegedly refused to run extortion rackets for leaders from NCP and Shiv Sena.

On the first page of the letter, Sachin Vaze writes that he was placed under suspension in March 2004 and was duly reinstated in service on the 6th of June 2020.

Vaze says in his letter that after he was reinstated, there was clamour to put him on suspension again. Anil Deshmukh told him that Sharad Pawar was not on board with his reinstatement. At that time, he claims that Anil Deshmukh told him to pay him Rs 2 crores for the job. Since Vaze apparently did not have that money at the time, Deshmukh told him to pay him at a later date.

In the second page of the letter, Sachin Vaze claims that in the month of July/August 2020 he was called to the official bungalow of Anil Parab. During the meeting, Parab told Vaze to look into the SBUT inquiry which was in its preliminary stage and had asked Vaze to bring the trustees of SBUT to him for a ‘negotiation’ on the inquiry.

Shockingly, Vaze claims that Parab told him to initiate talk about extorting Rs 50 crores from SBUT to end the inquiry. Vaze claims that he had expressed his inability to do so since he did not know anyone at SBUT.

He further claims that in the month of January 2021, he was again called by Anil Parab to his official bungalow to look into the fraudulent contractors listed with BMC. He was then allegedly asked to collect at least Rs 2 crores from 50 such contractors. He claims that the said inquiry to extort these contractors is ongoing currently under an ‘anonymous complaint’.

In the letter, he further claims that again in the month of January 2021, Anil Deshmukh had called Sachin Vaze to his residence and told him that there are approximately 1650 bars and restaurants in the area. He was also told to then collect Rs 3 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh from each of these for Anil Deshmukh himself.

He further alleges that he informed Anil Deshmukh that there were only 200 bars in the area and not 1650 as the minister had said. He also informed that he would not be able to collect this money because it was “beyond his scope”. He was then informed to comply with these instructions or lose his job.

Sachin Vaze further says that it was during this meet that Anil Deshmukh also reminded him of the Rs 2 crore that he had to pay him for his reinstatement. He further claims that in November 2020, he was approached by an individual, Ghodawat, who was close to deputy CM Ajit Pawar. He informed Vaze about the illegal trade of tobacco in the state of Maharashtra and insisted that Sachin Vaze should collect at least Rs 100 crores from the illegal gutkha sellers. Apparently, Sachin Vaze, who is accused of planting a bomb in front of the residence of Mukesh Ambani, said that he does not indulge in illegal activity. At that time, he was threatened that if he does not, he will lose his job.

From the 1st of January 2021, he says that he started collecting the money from Gutkha sellers but, he also initiated action against the factories. At this point, he was again contacted and the individual close to Ajit Pawar expressed his displeasure at him taking action against the factories. He was then asked to take the cases back and he evidently “categorically denied”.

Earlier today, there was a new revelation in the case as well. A police report was accessed by Republic TV reveals that ex-API Sachin Vaze was made in charge of the Crime Intelligence Unit through a verbal order by ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The report also suggests that Sachin Vaze was asked to report solely to former Mumbai CP Param Bir Singh.

Ayodhya title suit litigant says only Rs 20 lakh collected in 16 months for mosque construction, questions competence of waqf board appointed trust

A litigant in the Ayodhya Title Suit, Iqbal Ansari, has raised serious questions on the competence of the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation (IICF). The IICF is a Trust responsible for the construction of a mosque and other facilities on a 5-acre plot in Dhannipur, Ayodhya. The 5-acre plot was allotted to the Trust expressly to serve as an alternate mosque site, as per the Supreme Court in the landmark Ayodhya verdict.

After the Supreme Court’s verdict, preparations for the construction of a mosque in the Ayodhya district had commenced, however, Ansari alleges that the IICF Trust has managed to collect only 20 lakhs rupees so far to aid in the construction of the mosque. According to Iqbal Ansari, the IICF Trust is unable to win the trust of the people, because of its private nature.

After the Supreme Court’s landmark Ayodhya verdict in November 2019, the Sunni Waqf Board was allotted five acres in Dhannipur in order to construct a mosque. The Waqf Board set up the IICF Trust in February 2020 and opened a bank account in the name of Trust in order to receive donations for constructing the mosque. More than a year has passed since then and the Trust has reportedly collected only 20 Lakh rupees through donations.

Additionally, the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation not only plans to construct a mosque but also other facilities including Hospital, community kitchen, Indo-Islamic cultural research center which will include an Archive/Museum, etc. In contrast to their ambitious plans, the donations collected so far by the Trust seem paltry and insufficient.

Iqbal Ansari alleges that Zufar Ahmad Farooqui, the Chief Trustee of the IICF Trust and Chairman of UP Sunni Waqf Board, has formed a private Trust directly controlled by Farooqui himself. Ansari accuses Farooqui of being incompetent and the members of the Trust to be anti-social, blaming their lack of social ability for the dismal collection of donations. Ansari demands changes in the membership of the Trust, saying that until the present Trustees are gone, people will not contribute to the fullest extent.

In direct contrast with the IICF Trust’s collection of 20 lakhs in 16 months for a mosque in Ayodhya, the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust received more than Rs 2,100 crore from the public for the construction of a grand temple at Ayodhya in the span of 44 days.

Sachin Vaze’s reinstatement was insisted by Param Bir Singh, despite objection by joint CP. Read details of police report to Maha govt

The new revelation in Antilia’s bomb-scare and Mansukh Hiren’s death case has been reported. A police report accessed exclusively by Republic TV reveals that ex-API Sachin Vaze was made in charge of the Crime Intelligence Unit through a verbal order by ex-Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The report also suggests that Sachin Vaze was asked to report solely to former Mumbai CP Param Bir Singh.

Republic TV has reported that as per the secret police report which was sent from a top Maharashtra police officer to the state government, Sachin Vaze was reinstated via a verbal recommendation from the former Mumbai police chief Param Bir Singh. The news channel has also claimed that the reinstatement of Vaze into the CIU was opposed by the Joint CP of Crime Branch, but he was reinstated nonetheless and was made CIU chief.

Current Mumbai Police chief Hemant Nagrale has submitted his report regarding the reinstatement of Vaze and his 9-month tenure in the CIU.

Vaze used to ignore senior officers at Crime Branch, used to report directly to Param Bir Singh

Confirming Sachin Vaze’s alleged forceful involvement in multiple cases, the report clearly mentions that Sachin Vaze was present at all crucial meetings including the fake TRP scam, Dilip Chabriya case, Antilia bomb scare probe, and others. He was also made a part of the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s briefing meetings with ministers.

The images of the report also mentioned that Vaze had no regard for the instructions of his senior officers in the Crime Branch, or departmental protocols, but used to directly report to the former police chief Param Bir Singh only. He had also asked his colleagues at CIU not to report to senior officers of Crime Branch.

The report also mentions that during the 9-month tenure in the CIU, Vaze has never informed any of his senior officers in the department about any ongoing investigations and no Crime branch officers gave any review or opinion about his cases, as he was directly coordinating and reporting to Param Bir Singh.

As per the report, Vaze’s CIU was assigned 3 official vehicles, a TATA Sumo, a Toyota Innova and a Mahindra Scorpio, but Vaze hardly used those. He was usually seen using high-end luxury vehicles like Mercedes and Audi.

Param Bir Singh and former Encounter Cop Pradeep Sharma At NIA:

Param Bir Singh was seen at the NIA’s office in Mumbai today to record his statement with the agency. He is likely to be interrogated on the reinstatement of Sachin Vaze back in the police force after facing 16 years of suspension.

Param Bir Singh’s visit to the NIA was followed by the visit of Pradeep Sharma, a former encounter cop. Pradeep Sharma too had a tainted career as he was previously suspended owing to corruption allegations. He was reinstated back into service in 2017 after he was cleared of all charges.

Sharma who was a part of Mumbai Police’s encounter squad along with Vaze, had quit the Mumbai Police in 2019 after having served for over 30 years. He then joined the Shiv Sena and contested & lost from the Nalasopara constituency in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Vaze too had joined the Shiv Sena after leaving police service.

Sachin Vaze’s driver interrogated:

Vaze’s driver was interrogated by NIA for over six hours on Tuesday. The driver has been serving Vaze since 2012 and was summoned on Tuesday after new evidence was uncovered on Monday night when Vaze was taken to CSMT and Kalwa railway station for scene recreation.

CBI to investigate Sachin Vaze:

On one hand where the NIA summoned Param Bir Singh to investigate the ongoing case against Vaze, on the other hand the CBI has now submitted an application in the Special NIA Court seeking permission to investigate ex-API Sachin Vaze.

Vaze will be interrogated in a preliminary inquiry over the alleged corruption charges made against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh by Param Bir Singh.

With the COVID-19 second wave, we need to stop listening to the ‘ecosystem’: Here is why

Why is India not testing enough? Why did India go into lockdown so late? Why did India lift the lockdown so early? Why are Indian made vaccines not properly tested? And now, finally, why is India not producing these ‘untested’ vaccines fast enough?

Ever since the pandemic began, we have had to deal with a class of people who are experts at nothing but pointing fingers at everything. Their job is to ask obtuse questions and fake concern for the public good. Yes, India’s management of Covid was far from perfect. Show me who did better than us. And don’t you dare mention a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with half the population of Bangalore.

You know another reason our Covid management was not perfect? Because our health system is one of the weakest in the world. And if you had spent less time admiring the non-performance of fifty years of liberal governments, we might have done somewhat better. At the very least, you could have asked for one toilet per household before demanding one hospital bed and one ventilator per Indian.

Throughout the pandemic, their role has been to spread rumour, fear and suspicion among the domestic populace and to harm India’s image abroad. They are not well-wishers. They are hecklers.

Let me take you back to how this began. Remember when they said India is not testing enough? At the time, India’s test positive rate was quite low in comparison to most countries, including western countries with advanced healthcare systems. This suggests that India’s testing was quite adequate, keeping up with the spread of the disease. After all, with the disease just beginning to spread from a few clusters, it makes no sense to test everyone in every part of the country.

But they said no. They wanted to know why India is so far behind in tests per million. But as long as the test positive rate is low, why should that matter? But they would not listen.

Here is the thing. Because the pandemic is such a complex issue, there are always going to be multiple parameters to judge how a nation is responding to it. The approach of the hecklers has been to cherry-pick one parameter in which India can be shown in poor light and to raise hell about it. Once that particular talking point gets stale, they move on to the next half-truth.

They don’t want to help, they just want to jeer. And they jeer so loudly, creating so much commotion that those who really let the nation down during Covid go unnoticed.

Remember when it all began, they had made a list of states that they said were performing brilliantly? Not surprisingly, the list was completely self-serving in that it singled out every big opposition chief minister for undeserved praise. This pack of star chief ministers was led of course by the so-called “best CM,” who could do no wrong. And even when he got everything wrong, he was still the best. Because he apparently spoke with so much “empathy,” a non-quantifiable good that exists mostly in the perception of the devoted believer.

But then, cases began rising rapidly. And you could no longer make stuff up to give credit to opposition chief ministers. That is when everything became the fault of the Prime Minister.

Why did the Prime Minister push the nation into lockdown? Okay, but every other country in the world was forced into lockdown. Don’t worry about that. You can always say “unplanned” lockdown. Indeed, where was the planning to cater to every single need of every person in a nation of 130 crore? Can I say that or will the privileged elite say that I am heartless?

Incidentally, do you know who else agrees with my assessment? The people of Bihar, who were worst hit by the migrant labor crisis. They had the common sense to understand that a virus had come from China and over one thousand Americans were dying from it each day. If this was possible in the rich west, what would happen to us? They understood that the government had to make drastic decisions, driving blind. The compromised elite of Lutyens blamed Modi for the lockdown hardship, the honest hard working people of Bihar did not.

In between, it came in handy that Communist ruled Kerala was doing particularly well, while Modi’s home state of Gujarat was not. Kerala had been the first Indian state to come in contact with the virus and the first wave was tailing off over there. In contrast, the first wave in Gujarat was still peaking. Cue the editorials about how Kerala model succeeded where Gujarat turned out to be a complete failure.

But then, Gujarat shook off its first wave. And Kerala went into its second wave. In fact, cases in Kerala rose so rapidly that it ended up surpassing states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. But by then, all the fawning editorials about Kerala model had already been written. All the superlatives had been exhausted and the lie had run its course. It was time to move on to the next talking point.

By then, the GDP data for the first quarter of FY21 had come out. India’s economy had taken a crushing blow, a hit of nearly 24% and the hecklers couldn’t be happier. In their analysis, commentators assiduously avoided mentioning coronavirus or pandemic anywhere. They would only say lockdown, trying to pass off the disaster as a purely man made one. It also helped that IMF projections showed India’s GDP suffering the worst blow among major economies.

Eventually, these predictions all turned out to be false. Both the UK and France suffered over 9% contraction in GDP for the year 2020, while India’s number is well below 8%. Now adjust for the advanced healthcare systems in western Europe and think about how bad things could have gotten in India. In other words, by doing a harsh lockdown, India limited the economic damage to one single quarter (Apr – Jun), while the others made the economic pain last all year. Why is the latter so much better?

But who cares now? India’s economy has since posted a searing recovery. For a while, the hecklers kept saying it was the pent up demand. First of all, if India’s economy was devastated like they said, why would there be any pent up demand? Second, after six months of searing growth in everything from auto sales to realty to GST numbers, the pent up demand excuse has worn thin. Now they look forward nervously towards the coming year and remind us of low base effect. Incidentally, after India had been the fastest growing economy from 2015-2018, nobody could remember the high base effect during the slowdown of 2019. Some have gone back to another time tested excuse: they are preparing ground for saying that India is cooking the GDP data.

By the way, the economy is not a spring. A devastated economy doesn’t just spring back to life. Do you know that the GDP of Brazil is now about half of what it was in 2011? They have been waiting ten years for low base effect to save them. It just doesn’t work like that. If the Indian economy is roaring back, it means last year was a temporary lull due to a once in a century pandemic.

But the hecklers already knew this and had prepared for this. Around November, they had already started moving their eggs from the “what about the economy” basket to the one labelled “farmer protests”. With Covid cases declining and the economy on an expected upswing, they had to do something. In between, they took a bit of a break to spread rumor and confusion about vaccines manufactured in India.

Well, thank you “farmer protests” for helping fill up the time until Modi could be blamed for the second wave of Coronavirus. Literally every other nation on earth has experienced a second wave, but don’t let facts get in the way of outrage. And guess where this second wave started? It started under the watchful eyes of “best CM.”

By the way, if the Kerala model was real, it would be possible to duplicate it. So, what stopped “best CM” from learning from Kerala model?

Where do the hecklers go now? How do they buy time until the disease spreads everywhere and everyone forgets the failure of “best CM”?

Easy. Now they blame Modi for not vaccinating fast enough. They also blame Modi for exporting too much vaccine to foreign countries. By the way, now that India has slowed vaccine exports, they are also blaming Modi for monopolizing the world’s vaccine production. Go read the Guardian article. They are saying India is an evil nation that is withholding vaccine from poor countries!

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. We will be demonized no matter what. That’s why I said they are hecklers, not well-wishers.

Remember the Panchatantra story about the father and the son walking through the village with their donkey. When the father sits on the donkey, they say the father is cruel for making his young son walk. When the son sits on the donkey, they say the son is cruel for making his old father walk. When they both get off, the hecklers say they are fools for walking instead of riding the donkey. And finally, when they both sit on the donkey, it turns out they are being cruel to the poor animal.

It’s time to stop listening to the hecklers. Otherwise, we will end up like what happened in the same Panchatantra story. Sick of all the criticism, the father and the son begin carrying the donkey on their back. And remember, the hecklers will laugh at us even then.

Maharashtra health minister requests more COVID-19 vaccines as the state is facing shortage, demands everyone above 18 years must be vaccinated

Amidst the spiralling coronavirus outbreak in Maharashtra, the state health minister Rajesh Tope today claimed that the state is facing acute shortages of the coronavirus vaccine, adding that the state now has just 14 lakh doses which would last for only three days. The Maharashtra minister has asked the Centre to provide Maharashtra with an additional 40 lakh more doses of COVID-19 vaccines per week to fight the contagion.

“We do not have enough vaccine doses at various vaccination centres, and people have to be sent back due to a shortage of doses. We have demanded from the Centre that people of age group 20-40 years must be vaccinated on priority,” Rajesh Tope told media.

“Currently, we have 14 lakh vaccine doses which will get over in 3 days. We’ve asked for 40 lakh more vaccine doses per week. I’m not saying that the Centre is not giving us vaccines but the speed of delivery of vaccines is slow,” he said.

The Maharashtra health minister said that people in the age group of 20-40 are most infected because they go out every day. Suggesting that COVID-19 vaccines should be made eligible for all aged 18 and above, Tope said this is how the spread of the infection can be controlled.

Speaking on the consumption of oxygen of Covid-19 patients in the state, Rajesh Tope said Maharashtra is consuming 700 mg/L (milligrams per liter) of oxygen each day while producing 1200 mg/L (milligrams per liter) on a daily basis.

Tope said he has asked the Centre to direct the neighbouring states to provide oxygen supply to Maharashtra.

When asked about the Maharashtra government’s strategy in tackling the resurgent coronavirus outbreak, Tope said the number of hospital beds for Covid-19 patients is being increased in Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur and Nasik.

Shiv Sena MP writes letter to Dr Harsh Vardhan, asking for more doses of COVID-19 vaccines for Maharashtra

Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has also written a letter to the Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, asking him to make the vaccine available to all above 18 years and also to provide adequate vaccines to Maharashtra as it faces an acute shortage.

In her letter, Ms Chaturvedi has stated that Maharashtra is on the verge of running out on the vaccine doses, adding that some districts have stocks that would last only for 48 hours. The Shiv Sena MP urged the central government to release more vaccines to Maharashtra to combat the coronavirus effectively.

Propagandists who outraged over the migrant crisis in 2020 go silent as Maharashtra lockdown forces labourers out of state again

As Maharashtra witnesses a resurgent second wave of COVID-19 outbreak, with daily coronavirus caseloads touching a new high, there is a palpable sense of panic set in among the migrant population that was arguably the worst-hit by the pandemic when it started in March last year. There is growing anxiety among the migrant labour in the city as they queue up at various bus stands and railway stations to board buses and trains to get back to their native places before the imposition of an inevitable lockdown.

After braving a tumultuous year, the migrant laborers were back in Mumbai to pick up their lives once again that were upended by the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic. As it turns out, their relief was short-lived as Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra are again under lockdown-like restrictions, in a bid to stop the inexorable spread of the coronavirus.

Several reports claim that migrant labourers are leaving Mumbai, Pune and other parts of Maharashtra for their native places, fearing a second round of complete lockdown in the state. A large number of migrant workers had flocked to CST and LTT stations in Mumbai to board a train back to their villages before they are stuck in the lockdown. Similar is the condition in Pune, where the hoteliers association claimed that 50 per cent of the migrant workers in the city were planning to go back.

Crusaders who pledged support for migrant crisis remain silent over the migrant exodus in Maharashtra

This exodus of migrant labourers is reminiscent of the catastrophe that was struck last year when millions of migrant workers streamed on the road to hoof it over to their native places. During that time, the media, the journalists and many others went into overdrive to outrage over the central government’s decision of imposing a total lockdown, following which thousands of migrant workers were seen walking on foot to their villages.

Scores of journalists, prominent personalities with left bias had spoken incessantly on this exodus. Many of the privileged journalists and eminent individuals even ran a Twitter campaign “#MeTooMigrant as a mark of solidarity for the migrants and to empathise with their sufferings. Extensive campaigns were run to highlight the plight of the migrant labourers and to force the government to undertake relief measures for them.

By contrast, the exodus that is currently underway in Mumbai, Pune and other parts of Maharashtra has not received as much attention as it deserves. The crusaders who had vowed to fight for the migrant labourers last year have conveniently turned a blind eye to the tribulations suffered by the migrant labourers in Maharashtra.

None of the voices who had passionately slammed the Modi government for the migrant crisis then has voiced their concern on the exodus of migrants now. The migrants are left to fend for themselves as the very people who fell over themselves to champion their cause last year have displayed an eager alacrity to fawn over Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray for his “exceptional” handling of the coronavirus.

Propagandists turn a blind eye to migrant exodus as they praise Uddhav Thackeray for his “exceptional” handling of COVID-19 crisis

As Maharashtra saw an alarming spike in the coronavirus cases, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray convened a press conference last week to announce measures to curb the spread. However, far from announcing any credible action to be taken to stop the spread of the coronavirus, Thackeray hinted at bringing strict lockdown if the situation persists.

Soon after his address, the left-leaning journalists transformed themselves into cheerleaders of the Maharashtra government, which is beset by difficulties in the wake of the Antilia bomb scare and Rs 100 crores per month vasooli case.

The journalists sang paeans to Uddhav Thackeray, hailing him as a leader who “spoke from his heart”, was “honest” and had “empathy” for the people, even as the coronavirus crisis continued to exacerbate and the state continued to be the top contributor to the total number of caseloads in the country.

Maharashtra is in the throes of a raging coronavirus crisis, with the number of caseloads increasing at an alarming rate. However, the deteriorating situation in the state was a non-issue for the left propagandists as they lavished praises on Uddhav Thackeray for simply conducting a press conference on the COVID-19 crisis.

The left-leaning journalists have also been silent on the striking revelations that have come to the fore in the Sachin Vaze case and the explosive allegations of corruption levelled by the former top cop Param Bir Singh against the former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

Vaze was embroiled in the Antilia Bomb scare case and the death of Mansukh Hiren, the person whose car laden with explosives was found outside the residence of Mukesh Ambani. Vaze is believed to be close to Shiv Sena and he was restated into the police force after Uddhav Thackeray-led government came into power. It is alleged that Sachin Vaze was involved in the murder of Mansukh Hiren. However, the left-leaning journalists have studiously avoided questioning the Maha Vikas Aghadi government on the issue.

As the case spiralled, the former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh alleged that then Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had asked Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 crores per month from business establishments in the city. Even the hotel owners in Mumbai had admitted that they were harassed by Sachin Vaze for extortion. The Supreme Court ordered a CBI inquiry into the allegations and the Maharashtra Home Minister had to submit his resignation. But, instead of seeking accountability from the Maharashtra government, the propagandists were busing lauding the chief minister for organising a press conference.

Just a day after Thackeray’s press conference where he suggested that strict curbs might be enforced and announced the weekend curfews, a report published in Cricbuzz said that the Maharashtra government had granted its permission to the BCCI to go ahead with the scheduled IPL matches in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium.

The decision sparked outrage amongst netizens who called out the Maharashtra government’s duplicity on placing curbs for local establishments while allowing IPL to continue uninterrupted. However, as expected, the left-leaning journalists and eminent personalities did not see any merit in outraging over the Maha Vikas Aghadi government’s hypocrisy.

Additionally, an investigation was carried out by Mid-day to determine the cause of the disproportionate rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra. The investigation found out gross irregularities on the part of BMC officials deployed at the Mumbai international airport, who reportedly took bribes to let international fliers escape their mandatory quarantine.

Champions of migrant crisis busy in salvaging embattled Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra

However, these incriminating facts did nothing to shake the unwavering devotion of cheerleaders to the Thackeray government. Since the facts that underscore the bungled handling of the Maharashtra government coronavirus outbreak did not cause them to question Uddhav Thackeray, it is profoundly foolish for one to expect that the anguish and agony of the migrant labourers would move the propagandists into holding the Maharashtra government accountable.

In 2020, these propagandists indulged in ‘scavenger activism’, feeding on the sufferings of the helpless migrants, as a cover to slam the Modi government. Their reluctance in taking up the cudgel for the migrant labourers now betrays their actual motive in co-opting the issue. The primary goal, it seems, was to use the issue to paint the Modi government in a bad light and spark a nationwide campaign against the central government. However, as is the case with them usually, their campaign boomeranged as PM Modi emerged out with the highest approval ratings ever since he came to power in 2014.

A year later, in 2021, when the country was on the verge of emerging out of the crisis, only to be pushed back again, as a result of the inept handling of the COVID-19 outbreak in Maharashtra, the leftist vultures now see no merit in outraging over the sufferings of the migrant labourers. Instead, they are now more occupied with salvaging the Maharashtra government that is rapidly circling the drain and facing an existential crisis.

Video of Sadhguru saying Yashoda became Lord Krishna’s ‘lover’ goes viral, Isha Foundation offers explanation: All you need to know

Social media platforms were recently awash with a video of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev in which he made remarks on the nature of love between Lord Krishna and his foster mother Yashoda. In the video that had gone viral on the internet, Sadhguru could be heard saying that Yashoda’s affection for Lord Krishna was not limited to just her motherly love, but something more than that.

“Starting with Yashoda, his foster mother. She was deeply in love with the boy. Not just as her son, much more than that. When Krishna was an infant, it was all about the beautiful child she had. But as he grew, and he grew too rapidly. His growth was phenomenal. No mother could adjust her motherhood to that kind of growth. So her motherhood fell off somewhere by the time he was 5-6. After that, she couldn’t really be his mother. She became his lover,” Sadhguru said.

He further added, “So, Yashoda’s relationship with Krishna grew and she became one of his gopis. She was also a part of the Raas. She did not like Radha. She described her ‘too forward’, whatever that meant.”

“The normal demeanour that is expected of a village girl. She is a little too outgoing. So she(Yashoda) felt this tomboyish girl is hijacking her son, but she could not help joining the Raas conducted by Radha after Krishna left. Krishna never went back, even to see his mother. Many times, he right across the river in Mathura, but he did not go back to Vrindavan because he did not want them to know that a carefree cowherd boy has taken the terrible task of bringing dharma to the world…So Yashoda also became a gopi, along with Radha, because Krishna was no longer was his son. The blue did its magic with her also,” said Sadhguru in the now-viral video.

However, soon after the video was released on the internet, it sparked outrage, with many people fiercely objecting to Sadhguru’s interpretation of Yashoda’s love for Lord Krishna.

“Absolutely ridiculous. Yashoda is a symbol of motherhood. She had immense love for kanha. She expresses her wish to be his mother in another life too, which is why she was born as Vakula Mata in Kaliyuga,” one Twitter user remarked.

Isha Foundation issues clarification on viral video where Sadhguru claimed that Yashodha became a ‘lover’ of Lord Krishna

After the video drew severe flak on the internet, Isha Foundation, a non-profit spiritual organization founded and guided by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, took cognisance of the video and issued a clarification. In its clarification, the Isha Foundation alleged that the video of Sadhguru talking about Yashoda and Lord Krishna was mischievously edited.

Rubbishing the video posted by the Twitter user as misleading, the statement released by the Isha Foundation said, “A few days ago, a few Tweets were posted by a Twitter user, who had mischievously edited videos of Sadhguru speaking about Krishna’s mother Yashoda. Through these ill-intentioned edits, the user was trying to make it appear that Sadhguru was suggesting that the love that Yashodha had for Krishna was related to sexuality.”

The Foundation said that by posting distorted videos, an unsuccessful attempt was made to drum up controversy and spread false information about Sadhguru. It further added that in the original video, Sadhguru talks about how there were many wonderful women who were all devotees of Krishna. These parts, however, were deliberately removed by the Twitter user, it said.

“In the original video, Sadhguru hails Krishna as the highest manifestation of human consciousness. He explains that Krishna, as a divine entity, was too immense for anyone to become anything other than his devotee, which is why his mother also became his devotee. He speaks about how devotion is about being in love with the Divine. In several other videos, Sadhguru has clearly explained how devotion is something that goes beyond the physical body. It is an all-inclusive process to attain mukti,” the statement by Isha Foundation said.

The statement said that Sadhguru was talking about the love that devotees have for Lord Krishna and that it is devoid of any sexual connotation. “It is unfortunate that this ill-intentioned Twitter user seems to believe the word “lover” only applies to sexual relationships and is trying to distort Sadhguru’s words to promote this false perspective.”

The clarification issued by the Isha Foundation said the video has been edited in a “reprehensible” way and suggests something contrary to our culture. The mischief is not about Sadhguru, it is about Krishna and also about the culture of Bharat, the Foundation said.
