EC issues show cause notice to BJP’s Kapil Mishra after he equates Delhi polls to a contest between India and Pakistan in a tweet

Week’s before Delhi goes to vote, the Election Commission sought a report from Delhi Chief Electoral Officer and sent a show-cause notice to BJP’s Delhi’s Model Town candidate Kapil Mishra for violating the Model Code of Conduct after he equated Delhi polls to a contest between India and Pakistan in a controversial tweet .

After issuing a show-cause notice to Mishra, the Election Commission today directed Twitter to remove the tweet.

In a series of tweets, Kapil Mishra slammed the anti-CAA protests in Delhi, particularly the agitation in Shaheen Bagh, and called these protest sites “mini-Pakistan” and said the upcoming assembly elections will be a contest “on Delhi roads between India and Pakistan”.

In another tweet, Kapil Mishra said: “Pakistan has made its entry in Shaheen Bagh. Many mini Pakistans are being formed in Delhi. Indian law is not being followed in Shaheen Bagh, Chandbagh, Indralok.”

“Pakistan rioters have encroached on the roads of Delhi (Pakistan ki entry Shaheen Bagh mein ho chuki hain. Delhi mein chhote chhote Pakistan Banaye ja rahe hain. Shaheen Bagh, Chand Bagh, Indralok mein desk ka kanoon nahi mana jaa raha hain. Pakistani dangayiyo ka Delhi ki sadko pe kabza),” he tweeted.

Citing violation of clause 1(1) of the Model Code of Conduct and Section 123(3A) of Representation of People Act, 1951, the Returning Officer asked Mishra to reply to the notice explaining why no action should be taken against him by 12.30 pm today.

“In case you failed to give the reply or your reply is unsatisfactory, action against you will be taken without any further notice to you,” the notice said.

However, Kapil Mishra has refused to take back his statement. In a statement to ANI, he said, “I have received a notice from election commission last night, I’ll give my reply today. I don’t think I said anything wrong, speaking truth is not crime in this country. I spoke the truth, I stand by my statement.

“Roads are encroached upon in Shaheen Bagh, people aren’t being allowed to go to schools, offices and hospitals, inciting slogans are being raised. The shamelessness with which Manish Sisodia said he stands with Shaheen Bagh means it is a political movement.”

Just a few days ahead of Delhi elections, AAP has extended its support to Shaheen Bagh anti-CAA ‘protests’, where anti-India and anti-Hindu slogans were shouted during the anti-CAA protests, as Sisodia said he stands by them.

Speaking to the CNN News18 ahead of the 2020 Delhi elections, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia categorically stated that the Aam Aadmi Party stands with the protestors of Shaheen Bagh, Delhi.

Meanwhile, Kapil Mishra was removed from ministerial position in AAP government, later he left the political party. In August last year, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Kerala Government fails to produce utilisation certificate of money released for 2018 floods, Centre denies more fund

On Thursday, a senior official from the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the Centre will not allocate any additional funds to the Kerala government after it failed to produce utilisation certificates for 50% of funds allotted after the 2018 floods.
Reportedly, the State government had asked for an additional Rs 2,000 crore for flood damages in 2019 from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF).

The official stated that around ₹ 3,048.39 crores were allocated to Kerala in December 2018. The State government only spent a little over ₹900 crores. No utilisation certificate has been provided for the balance around ₹2,100 crores. Which means more than half of the sanctioned amount remains unspent.

Additionally, no utilization certificate had been produced for the first tranche of funds yet. Hence, more funds could only be released after the recipient of the utilisation certificate.

The Principal Secretary of Kerala’s Revenue & Disaster Management Department, however, complained that the Central Government did not consider the memorandum for 2019 Kerala floods. He also stated that whether unutilized funds remained with the State government wasn’t a matter of primary concern.

The 2018 Kerala floods had claimed more than 400 lives. It was one of the worst floods in the 90 years. More than 100 people lost their lives in the 2019 floods.

After facing setback on key bills, Jagan Mohan Reddy hints at abolishing Andhra Legislative Council

A day after Andhra Pradesh government suffered a major setback in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council as Chairman MA Sharrif referred two bills aimed at creating three capitals for the state to a select committee, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government on Thursday hinted at abolishing the Upper House of the Legislature.

Reportedly, the Andhra Pradesh assembly is scheduled to decide next week whether to abolish the Upper House of the legislature, where the Opposition is in a majority. The decision may be taken on 27 January, the final day of the assembly’s special winter session, senior YSR Congress leaders said.

“We need to seriously think whether we need to have such a House which appears to be functioning with only political motives. It is not mandatory to have the Council, which is our own creation, and it is only for our convenience. So let us discuss the issue further on Monday and take a decision on whether or not to continue the Council,” the chief minister told the Assembly on Thursday evening.

Jagan Reddy’s outburst came after the Andhra Pradesh legislative council on Wednesday referred two bills dealing with plans to decentralize the state capital to a select committee, much to the annoyance to the YSRCP.

The chairman had exercised his ‘discretionary power’ under Rule 154 and referred the AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020 and the APCRDA (Repeal) Bill to a select committee for deeper examination.

The Capital Region Development Authority Repeal Bill 2020 and the AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of all Regions Bill 2020, when passed by both Houses, will pave the way for the state government led by chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to decentralize the capital between Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool.

The ruling YSR Congress MLAs came down heavily on Council Chairman MA Sharrif and Leader of the Opposition in the Council Yanamala Ramakrishnudu over the manner in which the proceedings were conducted and the two vital bills were referred to a select committee.

“The chairman’s decision was against the rule book and the procedure he adopted was very unfortunate,” the chief minister said adding the Council was there only to give suggestions to the government.

“What will be the meaning of governance if the House of Elders does not allow good decisions to be taken in the interest of people and block enactment of laws? We need to seriously think about it, whether we should have such a House or do away with it,” Jagan added.

He said the council is preventing the passage of other important bills, including the one on English medium schools and asked if that was not against the country’s democratic spirit.

The upper House of a state can only be abolished if the Lower House passes a resolution by a special majority, which means resolution should be passed to that effect by a majority of the assembly and by a majority of not less than two-thirds of members present and voting.

The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is the single-largest party in the upper House with 27 members in the 58-member chamber. It has been busy stalling bills passed by the assembly, where the YSRCP has a massive 151 seats out of the total 175.

Case registered against Ex-AMUSU president Faizul Hasan over ‘Muslims can destroy anything’ hate speech

0

A case has been registered against Faizul Hasan, the former students’ union president of Aligarh Muslim University (AMUSU) who, in his hate speech, had threatened by saying that Muslims can destroy anything if they wish to do and claimed that the community has constantly been tested since 1947.

Following his hate speech, a case has been registered against Faizul under Section 153(A) of CRPC. The case was registered after Hasan refused to apologise for his remarks.

Faizul Hasan, former President of students of AMUSU, had said that he is from a community that can destroy anything ‘if it resolves to do the same’.

Trying to instigate the mob, Hasan had said, “If you want to see patience then look at the Muslims of India. From the year 1947 until now, the Muslims in India have shown a lot of patience”. Hasan had further threatened by claiming furthered that if people of his community are angered or provoked they will destroy India.

“We never want Hindustan to be broken, otherwise nobody can stop us from doing so. We are from that community if we come to ruin we will not leave any country. We are so angry, but we don’t want to break the country. To save this country, we have fought, given up our lives, so we will always try to save the country. Amit Shah should not do this. On one hand, he is cutting our throats and on the other, he is also threatening us”, claimed Hasan.

Refusing to apologise for hate speech, Hasan said that in 2014 Narendra Modi had promised “sabka saath, sabka vikas” and now he does not want to take the Muslims along and that is a breach of trust.

He also challenged the Union Home Minister for a debate on the issue of CAA and said, “Amit Shah should come and debate with our class 12th student. Hopefully, he won’t be able to win. Even if they give five points, then I will stand with him (Shah) and protest in favour of CAA”.

Ever since the Citizenship Amendment Act was passed by the Modi government, the Muslim mobs have hit the streets to create riots across the country and destroyed crores worth of public infrastructure.

The Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh had emerged as one of the epi-centres of the anti-CAA agitations being perpetrated in the name of ‘peaceful protests’. The students and Muslim mob associated with the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) had unleashed violent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The ‘students’ of AMU had clashed with UP Police on December 15.

This is not the first time student’s of the varsity have resorted to such outrageous behaviour. On January 17, Aligarh Muslim University student’s had abused the proctor when he was trying to negotiate with them and convince them to refrain from agitating. A student, in a video shared by India Today journalist Padmaja Joshi, could be heard calling the proctor a “dalla” (pimp) while another was seen showing a shoe to him.

On December 22 last year, the students of controversial Aligarh Muslim University, in a bizarre move had expelled their Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the university. The students had asked them to vacate their official residences by January 5, 2020. The students had also closed down all activity in the university until the VC and the Registrar resigned.

Indologist Shrikant Talageri, who has comprehensively debunked the Aryan Invasion Theory, awarded honorary D.Lit degree by Indus University, Ahmedabad

Noted Indologist and author Shrikant Talageri was awarded Honorary D.Litt. (Doctor of Letters) by Indus University, Ahmedabad at the 4th Convocation of the University. Author of several books, Shrikant Talageri was honoured with D.Litt. in recognition of his scholarly work and valuable contribution to the Aryan Debate concerning the origin and homeland of the Indo-European languages. The Convocation was held on 18th of January, 2020. Noted Indologist and author of many books, Dr. Koenraad Elst was also present at the occasion.

Shrikant Talageri’s work is considered ground-breaking in challenging and discrediting the colonialist and racially motivated Aryan Invasion Theory. Talageri is a strong proponent of the Out of India Theory. Through his impeccable research in Linguistics, Philology and comparative analysis of the Rigveda and the Avesta, Talageri has presented evidence establishing that Sanskrit and Proto Indo-European language originated in India and spread across Eurasia afterwards. His work has not been challenged and refuted so far.

Shrikant Talageri was born and brought up in Mumbai. His literary sense was highly developed while he was studying in school and he used to write stories. When he was first asked to recite one of his stories in his childhood, he was praised but encouraged to write it in his mother-tongue – Konkani.

Talageri accepted the challenge but writing in Konkani made him aware of the many linguistic problems involved, and he developed a strong interest in linguistics (learning different alphabets, reading about the languages of the world, etc). He had even invented an alphabet for Konkani.

This is when he came up against the Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT) and found it extremely dubious. The kinship between the languages spoken by most Indians and by most Europeans, jointly known as the Indo-European (IE) language family, is usually explained through the Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT). He has made a special study of the Konkani language, his mother tongue. He has devoted several years, and much study, to the theory of an Aryan invasion of India, debunking it without an iota of doubt. He has also interpreted the Vedas with the help of the internal chronology of Rig Vedic Rishis within Rig Veda with the help of genealogical records.

He establishes that Rig Veda was composed by sages living in Saraswati river valley between Saraswati and Ganga rivers (Haryana), who were patrons of the kings who ruled in this area. These kings were especially the Puru and particularly the Bharata branch of the Purus. Talageri equates the Vedic-Aryans to the Purus and the Iranians to the Anus, a sibling branch of the Purus. Other sibling branches include the Drahyus, the Yadus and the Turvasus.

Shrikant Talageri is one of those scholars who have come forward in recent years to challenge the colonial missionary model imposed on world history during the era of Western-Christian imperialism. In his book, The Aryan Invasion Theory: A Reappraisal, he had conclusively established that India was the original homeland of the Indo-European family of languages. In Aryan Invasion Theory and Indian Nationalism, he has confirmed equally emphatically that India was also the original homeland not only of the Indo-Aryans but also of the Indo-Iranians and the Indo-Europeans.

The location of the Original Homeland of the Indo-European family of language is the single most significant problem in the study of World History. This language family has members all across Europe and Asia. The question of the homeland of this diverse family has been hotly debated among linguists, historians, archaeologists and, especially in India, also among political writers of every brand.

In Rigveda and the Avesta: The Final Evidence, claiming to present “the final evidence” on the Indo-European Homeland question, Shrikant Talageri goes a long way indeed in disproving the Aryan Invasion Theory and establishing India as the land of origin of the migrations that spread the Indo-European language family over half of the Eurasian continent, from Bengal to Portugal and from Lanka to Norway. Thus, his theory, generally categorized under out of India (OIT) theory of the origin of IE Family, is firm and a strong contender to the well-established IE homeland theories.

Talageri has written five books so far- The Rigveda: A Historical Analysis 2000; The Aryan Invasion Theory: A Reappraisal; The Rigveda and the Avesta: The Final Evidence; Aryan Invasion Theory and Indian Nationalism and Genetics & The Aryan Debate: “Early Indians” Tony Joseph’s Latest Assault’.

Shrikant Talageri debunked the Aryan Invasion Theory and Aryan Migration Theory so completely and conclusively that there remains no iota of doubt about it. And he achieved this against all odds. He worked in a bank his entire working career, which was his source of livelihood. He did his scholarship only in his spare time. Without the benefit of the resources of a University and without the recognition that the paraphernalia of the University system provides, Talageri laboured against all odds and against all academic hostility, slander and opposition.

Malappuram: More details emerge from the area after water supply to Dalit families was stopped by Muslims for attending pro-CAA rally

Fresh details have emerged from Muslim dominated Malappuram district of Kerala where almost 22 Hindu Dalit families in the Cherukunnu SC colony had been allegedly boycotted and denied drinking water by Muslim groups for supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

It was reported yesterday that a Muslim family supplying water to the neighbourhood stopped the supply to these Hindu families from January 17 after three among them reportedly participated in an event called ‘Janajagratha Sadass’ supporting CAA. This event was held at Valanchery town a week ago.

According to a report in The Times Of India, Akhila Cherukunnu Parambil, a Hindu resident has said that the one Muslim family who supplied them water was pressurized by people of his community to stop supplying water to them, after photos of three men of the colony attending the pro-CAA program was circulated on a social media group.

Akhila said that the water supply scheme of gram panchayat has not been functional for more than a year and that they were forced to travel about 1 km every day to fetch water. One Muslim family had been supplying water to the local people.

“Recently, they arranged a facility to pump water from a water source to their home. They offered three buckets of water to each of the family in the colony. On Friday, a woman member of the family told us that photos of three men of the colony attending the pro-CAA programme as being circulating on a social media group in the locality and the family cannot continue to provide water as they were under pressure from a section of people to stop the supply”, said Akhila.

CP Velayudhan, a former CPM branch committee member, also confirmed that since the Muslim family had suddenly stopped supplying water many people in the colony, irrespective of party affiliations, were affected.

However, Sainudheen Kalappadathil, a member of the Muslim family has been quoted by the TOI report that the water supply was hindered due to some technical problem.

For the last three days, RSS’ Seva Bharati has stepped in and have been supplying water to the colony. Following the boycott of Hindus by Muslims, there is widespread anger for blocking the basic necessity of these residents.

It is pertinent to note that Malappuram in Kerala has one of the highest concentration of Muslim population and according to Census data nearly 70% of residents of the district are Muslims.

Shobha Karandlaje, the BJP MP from Karnataka flagged the issue on social media stating that Hindus of Kuttipuram Panchayat of Malappuram was denied water supply as they supported the Citizenship Amendment Act. The BJP MP also expressed her fear regarding communist Kerala taking baby steps to become another Kashmir.

Taking a cue from her, many BJP leaders raised the issue through their Twitter handles on Thursday, following which the revenue authorities decided to convene an all-party meeting and take immediate steps to restore the water supply. Now, there has been an FIR lodged against Karandlaje for ‘promoting religious enmity’.

Tirur tahsildar T Murali, who visited the colony on Thursday said that revenue authorities will file a detailed report of the incident to district collector Jafar Malik on Friday. “Panchayat authorities will take immediate steps to provide water to the colony,” he said.

The anti-CAA protests are increasingly turning communal lately which is evident across the country. As Muslim groups failed to put pressure on Modi government despite unleashing violence on streets across the country, now even targeted, planned attacks on Hindus are being reported.

Reportedly, the Muslim mobs assembled in front of a shop in Chennai’s Richie Street after the owner of the shop sold pens with texts bearing the label, “We support CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) & NRC (National Register of Citizens)”

Following the incident, members of the Hindu Munnani group said they have filed a complaint and are waiting for further action against the protesters. Dinesh Kumar, owner of the shop said he has been receiving threats since yesterday.

“I was not aware that such words were printed on the pen. When the batches reached the shop, a Muslim boy saw the pen and left. Another person came to the shop, took a picture of the pen with the words and uploaded it on social media,” said Kumar.

“Since yesterday, I have been receiving threats through calls from many places, but now the shop is open and remains safe with police protection,” Kumar added.

Kumar has also filed an FIR with the police. The police officers said they have received the complaint and an investigation is on.

The dangerous communalisation of the anti-CAA protests, added with rampant misinformation campaign against the law has pushed the Muslims of the country to threaten Hindu communities, which is being manifested in the form of attacks against common citizens across the country.

Earlier on Thursday, a senior Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) worker and an Anganwadi worker was brutally thrashed by a Muslim family in Irukkuzi in Kollam district of Kerala after being mistaken as CAA-NRC officials.
