Bengaluru police start identifying illegal Bangladeshi migrants, leftist propaganda websites start dog-whistling about ‘Dar ka Mahaul’

The Bengaluru police have launched an identification campaign to track down Bangladeshi immigrants working as domestic workers, garbage collectors, or ragpickers, and are filing charges against them if they are found to be illegal immigrants.

Bangalore rural police, particularly those in Anugondanahalli and Sarjapur, are conducting operations to identify illegal Bangladeshi immigrants working in the region as Indians by fabricating identity documents. However, leftist and Islamist propaganda websites have hijacked this case in order to portray this move as ‘anti-Muslim’ and biased.

According to a May 24 article in The News Minute, the Bangalore police have launched a new drive to recognise and prosecute illegal Bangladeshi migrants on the outskirts of Bengaluru, but the exercise has been hampered by the fact that it is ‘virtually impossible’ to differentiate a Bangladeshi from an Indian Bengali hailing from the areas adjacent to the Bangladesh border.

It is in this way the propaganda sites have started to insinuate the ‘Dar Ka Mahaul’ in the common populace. Propaganda portal The Wire also published the same story stating that this move has created a ‘panic’ among the Bengali Muslims in the area. These websites claimed, without providing any evidence, that the drive had expanded and sparked terror among thousands of ‘Bengali-speaking Muslims’. This reveals the portals’ fear-mongering technique for mobilising the populace, particularly Muslims, whether Indian or illegal, to their benefit.

The problem of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants has become a major issue in the country, with numerous cases of crime and violence directly linked to their presence. In such a condition, making assertations like the differentiation of Bangladeshi Muslims and Bengali-Speaking Muslims is ‘virtually impossible’ shows the adamance of this cabal to free the country of this problem. Furthermore, these hate-mongers have been protecting a sizable group of people who have infiltrated the territory illegally and are posing a threat to ordinary inhabitants.

The police will deal with the matter, but the meddling of these portals will impede the police’s efforts to identify illegal immigrants. According to a senior police official from the Anugondanahalli police station in Bangalore, there has been no attack or intimidation of the migrant population. He further said that each and every migrant labourer, including their family members, is being reviewed and confirmed to see whether they are residents of India and if they are not, applicable provisions of the Foreigner’s Act are being enforced, and legal action is being taken against the such illegal immigrants.

In a similar case, Karnataka police nabbed a 27-year-old Bangladeshi Muslim lady who had been living as a Hindu in India for 15 years. Roni Begum, who lived on the outskirts of Bengaluru, pretended to be a Hindu woman named Payal Ghosh for 15 years. When the woman’s father died, the 15-year-old farce began to fall apart. Begum had to fly to Bangladesh for her father’s burial. She had planned to travel to Bengal and then to Dhaka. During her journey, immigration officials got suspicious of her and confiscated her passport. During the subsequent inquiry, it was determined that she was an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant.

Recently, a special court in Bengaluru sentenced 9 Bangladeshi nationals to life imprisonment in a horrible sexual assault case that occurred in May of last year. The police that apprehended 12 people discovered that 11 were illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and one was a local.

In another operation Bengaluru police raided an illegal Bangladeshi human trafficking network in the city on June 26, 2021, arresting eight Bangladeshi women from a Women’s PG in Banaswadi. All of these cases highlight the problem of Bangladeshi immigrants unlawfully residing in the country and becoming involved in major crimes that endanger the lives of locals.

But still, it is another chance for the left-liberal and Islamic portals to instigate an air of insecurity and fear in the local Muslim population and make them stand against the incumbent establishment. Illegal immigration has become a severe problem that must be addressed at all levels. Such initiatives by leftist and Islamist outlets aim to deliberately dilute the administrative authorities’ efforts and act as a barrier to the development measures adopted.

Self-proclaimed journalists, including Rana Ayyub, Rohini Singh, dog-whistle against Nupur Sharma, deliberately endanger her life in the name of ‘blasphemy’

BJP leader and national spokesperson Nupur Sharma has been at the receiving end of the unabashed hatred from the Islamists and ‘left-liberal-secular’ journalists for expressing her views on Islam on a TV channel on Friday.

During a debate on Times Now on the disputed Gyanvapi structure, Nupur Sharma had argued that since people are mocking the Hindu faith repeatedly, then the Hindus can also mock other religions referring to certain Islamic beliefs. In the debate, she pointed out a view that the Prophet had married a six-year-old Aisha, and he had consummated his marriage when she was nine years old.

However, Islamists, the alleged ‘fact-checkers’, self-proclaimed journalists descended on her timeline to unleash trolls, who wasted no time in issuing death and rape threats to the BJP leader for making comments that are ‘blasphemous’.

The dog-whistling against Nupur Sharma was first initiated by Islamic propagandist and alleged fact-checker Mohammed Zubair, who shared an edited version of the video to drive a hate campaign against Nupur Sharma. Zubair shared Nupur Sharma’s video with his 464,000 Twitter followers, declaring Nupur a “rabid communal hate-monger and someone who can incite riots”, essentially admitting that a Muslim mob would indulge in violence over spoken words.

While the hate campaign started with Zubair, other Islamists, masquerading as journalists, also came out of the woodwork to incite violence against Nupur Sharma. Rana Ayyub, one of the leading Islamist propagandists and hate-monger in the country, also took to Twitter to provoke her fellow religionists to attack Nupur Sharma for her comments against the Prophet.

The so-called neutral ‘liberal-secular’ journalists were not far behind. Nikhila Henry, who claims to be a journalist, attacked the BJP leader, saying that Times Now debate was really deplorable. As per Henry, it was hurtful to listen to even ten seconds of Nupur Sharma’s statements.

“Don’t know whether any other democratic country would allow this on TV,” she added, fuelling resentment among members of the Muslim community.

Shoaib Daniyal, another self-proclaimed journalist, also seemed to be offended by the comments made by the BJP spokesperson. The alleged journalist claimed that Nupur Sharma’s speech was Islamophobic and wished that she should be booked under IPC section 295A for outraging religious feelings and insulting the religious beliefs of Muslims.

Another self-proclaimed journalist Tarushi Aswani, who writes for the far-left portal ‘The Wire’, also ranted against Nupur Sharma, saying her knowledge of Islam was wholly based on WhatsApp forwards created by members of the BJP IT Cell. She also called for the BJP leader’s arrest.

Rohini Singh, a controversial troll masquerading as a journalist, attacked Nupur Sharma and wire agency ANI by calling them ‘shameless’ for tagging Delhi Police, asking them to take note of the death threats issued against her. She even defended Zubair even though he had unleashed trolls to issue threats to Nupur Sharma.

Ashok Swain, a troll and fake news peddler, also incited Muslims by claiming that Nupur Sharma abused Prophet Muhammad on national television in a country where more than 200 million Muslims live. By putting out misleading information, Swain indirectly asked a large section of Muslims in the country to take note of Sharma’s statements.

The collective incitement and dog-whistling by the influential Islamists and their allies, backed by the ‘liberal-secular’ journalists, seems to have worked as Islamic trolls have descended upon Nupur Sharma’s timeline giving her all kinds of threats, including threats to behead and rape her.

Several Islamists issued death and rape threats to Nupur Sharma, just as they had issued to deceased Kamlesh Tiwari and Kishan Bharwad.

One Instagram user handle ‘basedmuwahhid’ shared Nupur Sharma’s image and called for her beheading. He asked fellow Muslims where they would be silent even after listening to the comments made by the BJP leader.

Another Islamist, Aljabbar Sheikh, called Nupur Sharma’ Shaitan ki Auladh’, while another user Fayid demanded the Muslims to butcher ‘kafirs’ like Nupur Sharma for commenting on Prophet. “She will be butchered”, one comment read.

Another user pointed out that as a Muslim, he will not tolerate abuse of the Prophet, hence he called for the slaughtering of Nupur Sharma.

Inspired by Mohammed Zubair’s dog-whistling, Irfan called Nupur Sharma a ‘Gustakh e Rasul’ and warned that her time was done. He said Nupur Sharma would be given the treatment she deserved.

Again, another user followed Zubair to threaten Nupur, saying her crimes are punishable by death.

Strangely, the dog-whistling against Nupur Sharma by prominent Islamist influencers and journalists and the subsequent death threats issued by Islamists is not a new phenomenon. Each of them is fully aware of the threats they are hurling at Nupur Sharma and their consequences. However, for them, protecting the honour of their god is much more important than the life of a ‘non-believer’.

In the past as well, the Islamists and their enablers in the liberal-secular intelligentsia have tried inciting Muslims against ‘kafirs’ for abusing Prophet, and sometimes they have been successful at their attempts. The brutal killing of Kamlesh Tiwari and Kishan Bharwad has proved again and again that the death and rape threats targeting Nupur Sharma are by no means an empty threat.

Interestingly, the statement by Nupur Sharma on Friday’s debate show is already in the public domain. Though the veracity of the claims is contested, it is commonly believed that the Prophet Mohammed had married a six-year-old Aisha and consummated the marriage three years later.

In fact, radical Islamist Zakir Naik, who is celebrated as an expert on Islam, had also made the same claims as Nupur Sharma in one of his speeches. Besides Zakir Naik, most Sunni preachers and scholars consider the claims of the Prophet marrying Aisha when she was six-year-old as true as it is part of the hadith. There is a reference to this contentious claim in Sahih al-Bukhari, 5134; Book 67, Hadith 70.

Sahih al-bukhari, 5134; book 67, hadith 70.

Some preachers also defend the claim by suggesting that a female body could reach puberty at the age of nine during those times.

It is indeed true that these claims are also contested by some Muslim scholars. However, there is nothing Islamophobic about repeating what several Islamic scholars have already spoken about widely.

Scientist and scholar Anand Ranganathan also expressed solidarity with Nupur Sharma by quoting certain Hadits that make the exact claims that Nupur Sharma had mentioned on television.

As we speak and write, there are several threats being issued against Nupur Sharma from across the country. Several Islamists are baying for her blood for stating her opinion on Islam. What is scary is that these threats are not just social media intimidation tactics but serious threats issued by rabid Islamists, whose sole intention is to carry out a jihad against Kafirs.

Actor Randeep Hooda pays tribute to Veer Savarkar on his Jayanti, shares the first look from the upcoming biopic Swatantra Veer Savarkar: Details

The makers of the upcoming film Swatantra Veer Savarkar have released the first look of actor Randeep Hooda as the Indian freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his 139th birth anniversary.

The actor shared the 0.30-minute motion poster on his Twitter handle on May 28 with a caption, “A salute to one of the tallest unsung heroes of India’s struggle for freedom & self-actualisation. hope I can live up to the challenge of filling such big shoes of a true revolutionary & tell his real story which had been brushed under the carpet for so long #VeerSavarkarJayanti.”

Randeep Hooda will be seen playing the titular role in Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming directorial Swatantra Veer Savarkar, which is based on the life of the freedom fighter Veer Savarkar, who was also a social reformer, writer, poet, historian, political leader, and philosopher.

In the motion poster, actor Randeep Hooda gradually appears adorning the look of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, also known as Swatantryaveer Savarkar. The instrumental version of the song ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’ plays in the background. “Hindutva Dharma Nahi. Itihas Hai…,” reads the tagline on the poster of the movie Swatantra Veer Savarkar.

Movie critic Taran Adarsh also took to Twitter to share Randeep Hooda’s first look as Veer Savarkar in the upcoming movie Swatantra Veer Savarkar.

The movie starring actor Randeep Hooda in the title role is directed by Bollywood’s acclaimed director-producer Mahesh Manjrekar. The movie is produced by Anand Pandit and Sandeep Singh and co-produced by Roopa Pandit and Sam Khan.

It may be recalled that Randeep Hooda had taken to his Instagram handle on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas last month to announce that he will portray Veer Savarkar in Mahesh Manjrekar’s upcoming directorial Swatantra Veer Savarkar. “Kuch kahaniyaan batayi jaati hai aur kuch jee jaati hain (Some stories are to be made and some stories are to be lived)! Grateful, excited, and honoured to be part of #SwatantraVeerSavarkar’s biopic”, the actor had written.

Randeep Hooda talking to the Indian Express had then called the title role challenging and said that he was happy to be able to showcase Veer Savarkar’s life story. “There are many heroes that have played their part in getting us our independence. However, not everyone has got their due. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is the most misunderstood, debated, and influential of these unsung heroes and his story must be told.”, he was quoted. Director Mahesh Manjrekar meanwhile said that this was the right time to tell stories from our history that have remained ignored to date.

It is important to note that history has never been kind to Veer Savarkar. Through a concerted attempt, Savarkar was constantly made an object of scorn and contempt by successive governments after India attained freedom in 1947. He was also falsely implicated in the murder of MK Gandhi but was later exonerated for the lack of evidence against him.

Texas school shooting: How a medic, who was helping the survivors, learnt about his daughter being killed in the shooting from her best friend

Days after 19 students were killed by a gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde city of Texas, it has come to light that the father of a deceased child was a first responder of the incident.

Angel Garza, a trained medic, had rushed to help emergency services who were rescuing survivors from the school building. He recounted how he learnt about the death of his 10-year-old daughter Amerie Garza in the dastardly attack.

While speaking to CNN, Angel said, “When I arrived on the scene, they still had kids inside. They started bringing the kids out and I was aiding assistance. This one little girl was covered in blood from head to toe. I thought she was injured, I asked her what was wrong. She was hysterical, saying they killed her best friend. I asked her the name and she said Amerie.”

He broke down in tears while speaking about his personal tragedy. While clutching a picture of his daughter in hand, he inquired, “How do you look at this girl and shoot her, my baby?”

Angel Garza informed that his deceased daughter Amerie tried calling 911 when gunman Salvador Ramos had barged into the classroom. “She was just trying to do the right thing, she was trying to call the cops.”

Amerie had received her phone as a present for her 10th birthday. “She was so sweet, the sweetest little girl who did nothing wrong,” Angel Garza lamented.

In a Facebook post, the mother of Amerie, Kimberly Garcia, wrote, “You did not deserve this my sweet baby girl. Mommy loves you, mommy can’t sleep without you. Mommy needs you, Amerie I can’t do this life without you. How am I supposed to live life without you? I will never understand. I love you and I’ll never be the same, ever again.”

Angel and Kimberly are now consoling their young son, who is distraught by the untimely death of her beloved sister. ‘We informed him that his sister is with God and that she will no longer be with us and of course, he just cried,’ Kimberly said.

Texas school shooting

More than 500 students, mostly Hispanic and economically disadvantaged, study at Robb Elementary school from second through fourth grade. The killings came on the day when students were preparing to start their summer break.

The gunman was identified as an 18-year-old man who had attended a nearby high school. The shooter reportedly abandoned his vehicle and entered the school with a handgun and assault rifle. The teenager had shot his own grandmother before going on a killing spree at the school.

The gunman was neutralised by the police officers, the officials said, adding 3 more adults were also killed in the attack. The CCTV footage showed that small groups of children were being rescued through parked cars and yellow buses, even some holding hands as police escorted them from the school.

The latest attack on the Texas school is one of the deadliest attacks since the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, where 17 people were killed.

Lucknow: Maulana of illegally operating Madarsa thrashes two children with canes, ties them in chains, parents refuse to file a complaint, shield Maulana

In a shocking incident, two minor boys, escaped from a madarsa in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on Friday after they were assaulted by a Maulana and kept chained to prevent them from running away. The matter came to light when a video of the incident went viral. According to reports the Maulana of Suffa Madintul Ulam Madarsa in Shivlar, Gosainganj, who was running the madarsa illegally, had not only kept the two boys captive by shackling them but also thrashed them with canes in the name of disciplining them.

When the two minors returned to their village after escaping the madarsa on Friday afternoon, villagers saw iron shackles fastened to the 13 and 14-year-old teenagers’ feet. They had assault marks on their bodies. When questioned, the children revealed that the cleric had confined them in the madarsa by tying their feet in chains, from where they managed to flee on Friday afternoon.

The students, Shahbaz and Raju, said that the madrasa teachers thrashed them with canes and kept their feet shackled. The villagers alerted the authorities to the brutal treatment meted out to these minor children. Some even made a video and posted it on various social media platforms. The video was also sent to the police, who then reached the site and detained the accused.

According to the Gosainganj police, the Maulana was soon left as ithe family members of the two victims stated that they do not wish to take any action against him or the madarsa. A case can only be registered if a formal complaint is received, said the police.

According to Gosainganj inspector Sailendra Giri, after the police received the video shot by local villagers, Shahbaz’s father Shera was summoned to the police station. The minor boy’s father refused to file a complaint against the Maulana. He, in fact, gave it in writing that he had urged the cleric to be strict with his child because Shahbaz was disinterested in his studies. Shahbaz had already run away twice from the madarsa, according to the father, and he was the one who had urged the cleric to be stern with his kid. Raju’s brother also had a similar story to tell the police. Raju’s father also told the police over the phone that he did not want to register any complaint against the cleric.

Meanwhile, Shahbaz and Raju who had multiple cane marks on their hands and feet levelled serious allegations against the madrasa teachers. They claimed that the Maulana forced them to study and thrashed them brutally for not remembering their lessons.

The ACP of Gosainganj Swati Chaudhary confirmed that the children have been handed over to their respective family members. No action has been taken against the Maulana as the police does not have any formal complaint against him.

According to reports, the Suffa Madinatul Ulam Madarsa in Shivlar, Gosainganj, Lucknow has been operating illegally for quite sometime. According to the District Minority Welfare Officer, this madarsa in question is not recognised by the government, hence it does not receive any financial aid.

Rajasthan Congress ‘blows up’: Leaders favouring CM Ashok Gehlot beat up Sachin Pilot camp leader Vinay Pratap Singh Bhopar during meeting

On Friday, during a Congress party conference in Jaipur, leaders on the side of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot clashed with those favouring Sachin Pilot. The incident occurred during a meeting for the Sanganer Block Congress Committee President and organisation elections.

Vinay Pratap Singh Bhopar, a Pilot camp leader, was assaulted with kicks and punches, and his clothes were ripped. Reportedly, there was blood all over his body and clothes. Bhopar said that Pushpendra Bhardwaj, a Congress leader from Sanganer, and his brother Abhishek Bhardwaj, along with his supporters, beat him up.

Vinay Pratap Bhopar then went to the Sanganer police station to make a complaint against Pushpendra Bhardwaj. He stated “I demand that Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Govind Singh Dotasra expel such a person from the Congress. What would my family do if I died? Will you engage in politics by assassinating workers?” Rashmi Sharma, a women activist, has filed a cross-FIR against Vinay Pratap after making an abuse complaint.

From the police station, Bhopar released a statement. He stated, “I’m making preparations from the Sanganer Assembly Constituency. Candidates Pushpendra Bhardwaj and his brother Abhishek, companions Jeetu Jakhar, Rajeev Sharma, and others attacked me, while Dharamsingh Singhania and Rameshwar Netaji protected me. I previously stated that Rahul Gandhi had initiated the Bharat Jodo Yatra.”

“Congress leader Buddhiprakash Bairwa said people who work hard should be granted a position in the party. Then other people interrupted him, so I said, ‘Let him talk.’  This is where things became heated. They were also assisted by certain councillors,” he continued.

In charge of the Sanganer police station, Hari Singh stated that there was a fight at the Block Congress meeting. Vinay Pratap Bhopar has filed an assault complaint, while Rashmi Sharma has filed a case against Bhopar for harassing and using abusive language.

Unrest in Congress party

The incident, which reflects unrest inside the party, comes just days before the state’s Rajya Sabha elections. The divide between the Rajasthan Congress and the Congress party as a whole has grown broader, with many of its leaders vocalising discontent with the party’s activities.

Notably, Rajasthan Sports Minister Ashok Chandna declared his decision to resign on Thursday, expressing his discontent with the state apparatus. He expressed his unhappiness with the principal secretary to chief minister Ashok Gehlot for allegedly interfering in his domains. Last week, Ganesh Ghogra, a Congress lawmaker, resigned as an MLA from Dungarpur. In a letter to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Ganesh Ghogra complained that the administration does not listen to him when he raises people’s problems.

SP MLA Shazil Islam pleads with Yogi Adityanath for help days after authorities bulldozed his illegal petrol pump, had previously threatened the CM

Days after the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) razed an illegal petrol pump belonging to the Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Shazil Islam Ansari and cancelled its licence and all no-objection certificates (NOCs), the latter met Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath to seek his help. He is the same SP MLA who had threatened Yogi Adityanath saying if he makes any “noise” now, the SP guns will “not emit smoke, but fire bullets”. Shazil Islam represents Bareilly’s Bhojipura seat in the Legislative Assembly.

According to Live Hindustan, the Samajwadi Party MLA said on Friday that he met Yogi Adityanath and presented his case before him and sought his help. Yogi Adityanath, in turn, assured him that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the rules.

The SP MLA also said that he discussed a number of issues concerning the development of his region with the CM. He informed the CM that the Department of Agriculture has a vast piece of land in Bhojipura’s Bilwa district. There could be an agricultural university and a medical school there if the government decides to do so.

Shazil Islam reportedly claimed that he had paid Rs 10 lakhs to the authorities to acquire licences and NOCs for his petrol pump at Parsakheda on the Bareilly-Delhi National Highway, which was bulldozed by the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA).

Notably, on April 7, officials from the Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) arrived at the petrol pump site with a bulldozer, amid heavy police security. In the presence of local police and PAC officials, the structure was demolished, since it was built without the required clearance.

The district office also revoked its licence and its no-objection certificates a few days later (NOCs). The government also asked the city’s additional district magistrate to look into who owned the land where the gas station was built.

According to District Magistrate Shivakant Dwivedi, the conditions under which the licence and NOCs for Ansari’s petrol pump were given were not met, hence they were revoked. Dwivedi had also directed Bharat Petroleum to initiate necessary action at its level against Ansari’s petrol pump.

Samajwadi Party MLA Shazil Islam issues threats to BJP, says ‘will fire a bullet for every word said by Yogi Adityanath’

Ansari, the Bhojupura MLA, had hit the headlines after his video went viral on social media in which he was seen issuing threats to the Bharatiya Janata Party and Uttar Pradesh’s chief minister Yogi Adityanath. In this video, addressing SP workers in his constituency on April 1, he said that as there are more SP MLAs in the assembly than earlier, they will now fire a bullet for every word said by Yogi Adityanath.

Later, on April 4, Uttar Pradesh police had booked the Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA, party’s district unit vice president Sanjeev Kumar Saxena and some other party leaders for threatening Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and making provocative statements against him. The action against the SP leaders was taken based on a complaint filed by Anuj Verma, the district in charge of Hindu Yuva Vahini.

The FIR was lodged at the Baradari police station of Bareilly under sections 504 (disturbing peace), 506 (threatening) and 153A (making provocative statements with intent to incite riots).

Soon, the Samajwadi Party MLA had rushed to apply for an anticipatory bail terming the FIR registered against him a political conspiracy, but a district court had rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

Interestingly, now that all avenues seem to be closed to him, the Samajwadi Party MLA has rushed to seek assistance from Yogi Adityanath, against whom he issued threats merely a few months ago.

No hijab in classrooms: Mangaluru University to first give counselling, then help adamant Muslim students secure admission elsewhere

A day after Muslim students from Mangaluru University submitted a memorandum to allow them to wear hijab in classrooms, Vice-Chancellor P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya has assured to facilitate them in securing admission to other colleges.

On Friday (May 27), he informed that the college would provide counselling to the Muslim students in the hopes that they change the decision. However, if they insist on wearing a hijab, then, the college administration will help them get admission elsewhere.

“We have learned that about 15 girls are firm about wearing the hijab to class. We are ready to counsel these girls and make them understand the Karnataka high court order. If counselling does not work, we will help them get admission in educational institutions where the hijab is allowed or where there are no uniforms,” the VC added.

It must be mentioned that the college had earlier allowed headscarves, which matched the colour of their uniform. The Vice-Chancellor of Mangaluru University College informed that there was confusion about whether the Karnataka High Court order on hijab was applicable to degree colleges.

An emergency meeting, which was attended by Mangalore South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, was called to resolve the issue. During the meeting, it was decided that wearing the hijab and other religious attire will remain prohibited in classrooms.

“There was confusion about whether the high court order would apply to degree colleges. However, according to the advisory of the state government, the higher education council, and the court order, all colleges will have to comply with the uniform,” P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya emphasised.

The Muslim students can, however, wear hijab within the campus but must remove their religious attire while attending classes or entering the canteen and the library. The Vice-Chancellor of Mangaluru University College has also vowed to take action against college professors, who were encouraging Muslim students to wear hijab in class.

Students launch protest at Mangaluru University College

The controversy erupted on Thursday (May 26) after a group of students from the University College in Mangaluru had protested against the college authorities, alleging that a few Muslim girl students were attending classes in hijab in violation of the Karnataka High Court order.

The protesting students contended that they were being forced to wear the college uniform while the 44 Muslim students were being allowed to wear hijab to college. The students also alleged that some of them were wearing the hijab in the classrooms too.

They also hit out at the college principal and other concerned authorities for failing to enforce uniform rules on the college premises. The students alleged that the college authorities were under pressure from a local political leader.

Karnataka Hijab row and the test of essentiality in religion

The Karnataka Hijab row started out in January this year at a Pre-University College in Udupi where a group of 6 Muslim girls insisted that they be allowed to take classes in their hijab

Given that uniforms were in existence at the said PU college since 1985, the school administration refused to relent to their religious diktat. Thereafter, the girls refused to enter classrooms and began holding protests within the premises of the college.

With the backing of Islamist outfits such as PFI and Campus Front of India, the ‘hijab movement’ spread to other schools and colleges in Karnataka. The hijab row witnessed the mobilization of Islamists and counter-protests by Hindu students, demanding the concept of uniformity in schools.

When the matter reached the Karnataka High Court, it ruled that Hijab is not an essential practice in Islam and that uniform is a reasonable restriction on the ‘Right to Religion.’

‘True Congresswoman’, who had assaulted an actress for doing yoga in a park, now concerned about ‘women’s rights’, criticises Congress, gets notice

Karnataka Congress general secretary Kavitha Reddy has been issued with a notice for her recent statements targeting the party over the selection of candidates for the upcoming Legislative elections.

A few days back, KPCC general secretary Kavitha Reddy had called out the Congress party for ‘patriarchy’ and ‘injustice’ and for denying women candidates the opportunity to contest in the Legislative Council elections.

In response to her statements, the Karnataka Congress disciplinary action committee has issued a show-cause notice to general secretary Kavitha Reddy. The committee, headed by senior leader K Rahman Khan, said Reddy’s statements had caused embarrassment to the party. The party has asked her to respond within the next seven days.

Following the notice, Kavitha Reddy confirmed that she has been issued notice by the Congress party and said she would respond to the notice with the same spirit as she always did as a ‘true Congresswoman’.

Kavitha Reddy lashes out at Congress party

In a video put out by Kavitha Reddy on Monday, she had lashed out at the party, saying, “Social justice is irrelevant and incomplete without gender justice in political representation”. She had asked why women did not get as many opportunities as men and questioned the party leadership for not allowing them to grow.

Reddy also took to Facebook to state, “All men who get MLA/MP ticket will not win, so winnability question is ONLY for women? Men with all resources also have lost elections, but the question on resources is ONLY for women? Social justice is irrelevant/incomplete without Gender justice! (sic)”

She had asked why was Indian National Congress ignoring 50 per cent of the population, adding whether there was any representation for women in our Assembly, Council, or Parliament at all.

“For the 3rd time in a row, the Karnataka Congress has not given women representation in the legislative council. Even the seats which the women leaders vacated were given to the male leaders. There are very few opportunities in Congress for independent women. Tickets go to someone’s wife, widow, daughter, sister, or relative. Such people don’t speak for women because they come from patriarchy,” the Congress leader had lamented.

The elections for the Karnataka Legislative Council are scheduled to take place on June 3. Seven members retire from the upper house as their term ends on June 14.

Kavitha Reddy had earlier heckled an actress and a journalist

Interestingly, Kavitha Reddy, who is now vocal about women’s rights and their political representation, courted a massive controversy after openly indulging in acts of moral policing and attacking Kannada actress Samyuktha Hegde for her alleged ‘indecent behaviour’ in the public place.

In September 2020, a mob led by Congress party leader Kavitha Reddy had physically attacked a budding Kannada actress Samyuktha Hegde and her friends at Agara lake premises over allegations of ‘indecent behaviour’ at a public place. The actress and her friends were working out at the park near the lake when the Congress leader Reddy and her mob approached them and began to abuse and attack them. The contention of the mob was that the actress was dancing at the park by wearing an indecent dress.

Kavitha Reddy had also heckled journalist Mahesh Vikram Hegde at Mangaluru airport in January 2020 at Mangaluru airport. The Congress leader had joined hands with far-left activist Amulya Leona to heckle journalist Mahesh Vikram Hegde publicly.

Reddy, along with anti-CAA ‘protestors Najma Nazeer and Amulya Leona, had confronted Mahesh Hegde and coerced him to sing “Vande Mataram” to prove his patriotism for the country.

Kavitha Reddy, who had apparently led the heckling mob, had absurdly asked the journalist whether he knew the time when Nathuram Godse assassinated Mahatma Gandhi. Congress leader Kavitha Reddy is also known to have links with far-left activist Amulya Leona, who is booked under sedition charges after raising slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in an anti-CAA rally.

BJP National Spokesperson gets multiple death threats after Alt News co-founder unleashes Islamists on her

The national spokesperson for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a leader of the party’s Delhi unit, Nupur Sharma has been receiving multiple death threats on the social media platform Twitter. There were multiple tweets threatening her, some even calling for her beheading after Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair shared her video with a twisted commentary to encourage trolls to attack her.

Sharing the threats, Nupur tweeted, “@DelhiPolice@CPDelhi I am getting continuous death and beheading threats against my family and myself which are egged on by @zoo_bear because of his attempts to incite communal passions and vitiate the atmosphere by building a fake narrative. Attaching a few pics. Please note.” @zoo_bear is the troll account of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair.

In the tweets attached by Nupur, there are open threats to her life. Even though she has shared only 4 tweets, there are several similar tweets against her ever since Zubair’s dog-whistling encouraging attacks against her.

During a debate on Times Now on the disputed Gyanvapi structure, Nupur Sharma argued that since people are mocking the Hindu faith repeatedly, then they can also mock other religions referring to Islamic beliefs. Taking that video out of context, Zubair shared it with his 464,000 Twitter followers declaring Nupur a rabid communal hatemonger and someone who can incite riots.

The dog-whistling obviously worked perfectly as troll accounts descended upon Nupur Sharma’s timeline giving her all kinds of threats including threats to behead her. With several similar incidents like Kamlesh Tiwari and Kishan Bharwad abound, the police should look at these threats seriously.

After being tagged repeatedly, Delhi Police finally responded and said that the matter has been forwarded to concerned officials and they will contact the aggrieved party Nupur Sharma shortly.

This is not the first time that dog-whistling by Alt News founders has resulted in threats to someone. Earlier, a minor boy was harassed and threatened after being doxxed by the other Alt News co-founder Pratik Sinha. Zubair himself was questioned earlier this month by Delhi Police for doxxing a minor girl.
