Netizens, Co-passengers impressed as Tripura CM Biplab Deb seen flying economy class with family

On Tuesday, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was found travelling on a flight from Indore to New Delhi. What surprised the co-passengers was that the Tripura Chief Minister and his family were seated in the economy class of the aeroplane.

A social media user named Ranjeet (@Iranjeetgaur) on Wednesday tweeted an image of Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb travelling in an Indigo airways flight that departed from Indore to New Delhi. According to the Twitter user, the Tripura CM and his wife were seated in the 18th row of the economy class.

“I was in Indore-Delhi indigo flight when I saw a person looking like Tripura CM Biplap Deb, I wasn’t convinced because it’s economy that too 18th row. I was shocked to realise he was CM himself. So humble to travel in economy class which Shashi Tharoor called ‘cattle class’,” tweeted Ranjeet.

Netizens were pretty much impressed with austerity measures of the Tripura CM and hailed his simplicity.

Another user shared a similar story of Biplab Dev’s simplistic lifestyle and the connect he shares with the common citizens.

Biplab Deb had shared in a Facebook post that he had attended the wedding ceremony of Sankalp Singh, the son of Satna MP Ganesh Singh at Indore.

In a country where former Prime Ministers are known to use Indian Navy’s aircraft careers for their personal holiday car with family and friends, politicians ordering entire aeroplanes just to pick up their shoes, or bring cigarettes from abroad, the simplistic lifestyle of politicians in power usually comes a pleasant surprise.

Delhi Riots: IB Constable murdered, dead body recovered from drain in Chand Bagh sent for post mortem

The dead body of an Intelligence Bureau Constable has been recovered from a drain in North East Delhi amidst communal riots in the national capital. The deceased constable has been identified as Ankit Sharma. His body was recovered from a drain in Chand Bagh. It is believed that he was beaten to death and later, the mob disposed of his body by dumping it in the drain.

The family of Ankit Sharma had been looking for him since Tuesday. His father, Ravinder Sharma, is also a head constable in the Intelligence Bureau. Ankit Sharma had joined the IB in 2017. As per reports, his rank was ‘security assistant’. His father has alleged that in addition to being beaten up, Ankit Sharma was also shot at. The body has been sent to GTB Hospital for a post mortem. An individual from Bihar, Deepak Kumar, has also been beaten to death by the rioters. He is originally from Salempur village in Bihar’s Bhojpur district and lived at Mandoli in Delhi.

A head constable of Delhi Police has also died in the violence that ensued. Another was injured. The deceased policeman fell prey to a bullet wound. Massive riots erupted in Delhi on Monday and continued on Tuesday. The death toll has reached 20, countless more have been injured and the damage to property has been enormous.

Transfer of judges and maintenance of the independence and salvation of judiciary

I have read the view of Shri Dhananjay Mahapatra on the issue of transfer of High Court judges “not justiciable except for the improper consultation by Chief Justice of India”. The author of the article was of the view that as per Article 222 of Constitution of India no consent is required from the judge under transfer. He relied upon the “First judges, Second judges and the Third judges” case for supporting his view.

Surprisingly no reference was seen in the article to the popularly known as “NJAC” case reported in “2016 (5) SCC 1. Why the said datum was missing is curious? The 5 Judges Constitution Bench without mincing the words held that Article 222 is necessary for the Independence of Judiciary and therefore they held the amendment of Article 124-A is against the basic fabric of the Constitution. Knowing Mr Mahapatra from his past articles, I am certain that he is nobody’s adherent and has a voice of his own.

Unfortunately he has doubted the knowledge of lawyers on the compensatory allowance, which a Judge receives on his transfer from the parent High Court. A successful lawyer never accepts the Bench for the sake of compensatory allowance. No doubt it’s an honour for any lawyer who is considered for elevation but reputation and integrity for some is paramount than receiving compensatory allowance.

A judge cannot be merely transferred because of dissonance. Certainly Justice Murlidhar was transferred without taking any prior consent. No reason for any public interest is ostensibly seen in his transfer when he could have been Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. The other reason for the transfer, which is in circulation, is that Justice Murlidhar gave certain decisions, which were contrary to the “Bolshevism”.

For such transfers only Article 222 is still maintained in the Constitution. Its purpose is to maintain the independence and salvation of judiciary. No doubt that under Article 222 the express provision of obtaining a previous consent is missing but the same is vogue since 1977 else why the transfer of judges is not a routine than exception?

‘It is my job and I have to do it,’ says Delhi cop who came face to face with gun wielding anti-CAA rioter Mohammad Shahrukh

Massive riots erupted in Delhi on Monday and continued on Tuesday. The death toll has reached 20, countless more have been injured and the damage to property has been enormous. Amidst all of this, one gun-wielding man was spotted brandishing his gun at the Police and firing shots. In what has emerged as one of the most iconic photographs from the violence, the Policeman refused to budge even as the man pointed his gun straight at him. The rioter was identified as Shahrukh and he has now been arrested.

The Policeman confronted by Shahrukh has been identified as Head Constable of Delhi Police Deepak Dahiya. He confronted the gun-wielding rioter with just a lathi in his hand. Dahiya told Times of India, “I was deployed at Maujpur Chowk. Things suddenly took an extremely violent turn and people started pelting stones at each other. As I moved towards the scene of violence, I heard a gunshot. I saw a man wearing a red sweatshirt… he was wielding a pistol. I immediately jumped to the other carriageway to divert his attention.”

“He was charging ahead… I walked up to him to divert his attention.. I could not have allowed anyone else to come in his way. My priority was to ensure that there was no casualty,” Dahiya added. He further said that it was his duty and he had to do it, “Kaam hain mera, karna hi hai…”

As a testament to his adherence towards the virtues of honour and duty, Dahiya told TOI, “Agar mere saamne koi mar jaata, toh bahut dukh hota hamesha… (had anyone died in front of me, it would have hurt me forever).” Dahiya’s wife and two daughters live in Sonepat, Haryana. His family was unaware of his actions until Tuesday morning. His wife recognized him from his photograph that went viral on social media.

“I did not tell them anything, but my photograph went viral on social media. My wife called me up all worried. I tried to dodge her questions, but even though my face wasn’t visible in the photographs, she recognised me from the blue stripes on the jacket… I kept quiet as I know that she has full confidence in me,” Dahiya said.

One Policeman has lost his life in the riots that have ensued in the national capital. The deceased cop Head Constable Ratan Lal fell prey to a bullet injury. Another cop was also critically injured in the violence.

United States pulls up Pakistan over the new social media restrictions

0

Pakistan’s move to enforce new restrictions on social media platforms drew a sharp criticism from the United States which expressed deep concerns over the Pakistani action. The State Department said the move “could be a setback to freedom of expression & development of the digital economy.”

“New restrictions on social media platforms in #Pakistan could be a setback to freedom of expression & development of digital econ. Unfortunate if Pakistan discourages foreign investors & stifles domestic innovation in such a dynamic sector. Encourage discussion w/ stakeholders. AGW” read a tweet from the US State Department.

The statement from the US State Department came weeks after Pakistan approved new rules for regulating cyberspace which many claimed could be used to stifle dissent and free speech.

The contentious regulations that were approved by the Pakistani cabinet last month but were not made immediately public mandate social media organisations to help law enforcement agencies access data and to remove online content deemed unlawful.

The regulations also stated that those companies who do not abide by the rules would run the risk of being blocked online.

According to the new rules, the social media behemoths such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and others are required to build data servers in Pakistan, get officially registered and assign a representative who will be a point of contact for the government-constituted authority in Pakistan.

The rules mandate social media giants to set up data servers in Pakistan within a year and be liable to provide data of users found guilty of various crimes which includes targeting state institutions, disseminating fake news and hate speech, involving in online harassment, making statements that imperil national security or publishing blasphemous matter — to intelligence and law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

The Pakistani government authority has the sanction to flag objectionable content on the social media platforms to be taken down. If social media companies fail to comply within 15 days, the authority will have the imprimatur to suspend digital media companies’ services or levy a fine worth up to PKR 500 million.

However, on the other hand, undeterred by US criticism, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday responded back to the recent statement by American State Department representative Alice Wells over Pakistan’s social media regulation, saying Wells’ concerns were nonsensical.

Furthermore, Chaudhry further questioned why Well did not raise similar concerns when the United Kingdom and Singapore had enforced regulatory laws on social media websites.

NDTV journalists “badly beaten up by Hindu mob” as claimed by Nidhi post a pic, netizens wonder about lack of apparent injuries

On Tuesday, NDTV Executive Editor Nidhi Razdan claimed that two of her colleagues were attacked by a mob during the anti-CAA riots in the national capital. Nidhi Razdan had claimed that two NDTV reporters Arvind Gunasekar and Saurabh Shukla were attacked by the mob during their coverage resulting in severe injuries to them. She had claimed that they were beaten after Mob and were only released after the mob realized that the ‘journalists’ were Hindus.

Nidhi Razdan’s claims

NDTV claimed that Arvind Gunasekar, who has a complicated relationship with facts, was circled by a mob that hit him on the face. A lathi was about to be brought down on his head when his colleague, Saurabh Shukla, intervened. The report further claimed that the lathi hit Saurabh instead and he was also punched on the back and the stomach and hit on his leg.

Interestingly, new images posted by one of the ‘journalists’ who claimed he was punched on the back and hit on his leg, shows that neither of the reporters has any signs of injuries.

Soon, netizens took to Twitter to question about the lack of apparent injuries on the three.

In the anti-CAA riots that broke out in the national capital on 24th February, as many as 20 people have lost their lives. One 19-year-old Vivek was attacked by rioters in his own shop and a drill machine was bored into his head. On Monday, another Hindu activist named Vinod was killed by the Muslim mobs in the city during the anti-CAA riots. The body of a Hindu activist was seen being dragged to the far end of a street in Brahmapuri even as the violent Muslim mob passionately shouted slogans of “Nara e Taqbeer, Allahu Akbar”. A bike parked nearby is also seen being torched by the anti-CAA rioters.

Scriptwriter of Karan Johar’s film Takht deactivates his Twitter account after spewing hatred on Hindus, here are some of his problematic tweets

Hussain Haidry, a poet and writer who is also working with Bollywood Director Karan Johar in his new period drama ‘Takht’ has now deactivated his account after resorting to posting blatant Hinduphobic and hateful tweets.

Haidry, a quintessential Islamist, has been spewing venom against Hindus on Twitter with active backing from the ‘liberal-secular’ media. On Monday, Hussain Haidry took to the micro-blogging site to express his hatred towards Hindus as he called the members of entire indigenous faith of the country as ‘terrorists’.

Following the controversy, netizens had slammed the Bollywood writer for his anti-Hindu propaganda and had called for the boycott of Karan Johar’s movie ‘Takht’.

As netizens demanded strict action against the Hinduphobic Islamist Hussain Haidry, he proceeded to deactivate his Twitter account.

Hussain Haidry has been making such problematic tweets ever since the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act. In the aftermath of the violence at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) between two groups of students, Haidry had declared it ‘state-sponsored Hindu terrorism’ and ‘Hindu-sponsored state terrorism’.

Hussain Haidry’s Hinduphobic tweet

Hussain Haidry, a rabid Islamist, has also often ranted about ‘Brahminism’ and ‘Brahminical Hegemony’, a convenient tirade invented by Hinduphobic bigots to target Hinduism under the cloak of targeting one particular caste.

Hussain Haidry’s tweet on Brahminism

Compelled by his hate for Modi, Hussain Haidry just a few days back had taken to social media to incite violence by urging people to ‘show courage’ and ‘beat up’ the ‘upper caste’ Hindus, who according to him, are ruining the country. He had asked his people to go to each and every household in their respective colonies and hit all those voting for the BJP with chappals (slippers).

Earlier, netizens had exposed Hussain Haidry on social media for his past ‘Jihadi’ posts where he had fantasized killing people. A series of old tweets of Hussain Haidry has come to haunt him back in which he has openly made his intentions to kill and inflict pain on people.

Hussain Haidry, who the ‘liberal-secular’ ecosystem considers to be an emerging poet, in 2012 took to Twitter to unapologetically express his wish to kill people. In another tweet, dated October 2012, Haidry had even composed a poem to fantasize about his dreams of cybercrime and hijacking aeroplanes.

Not only that, Haidry, like a true Islamist, had even instigated others to pick a fight with people, burn their house and kill a man if there was a chance. Hussain Haidry is one of those individuals who appear to have lost their good senses following the consecutive electoral victory of a party that he dislikes. The intense Hinduphobia and anti-Modi hatred by Islamists like Hussain Haidry have now resulted in vitiating the atmosphere in the country which is being manifested with Muslim mobs resorting to large-scale violence against the state, particularly Hindus.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written to Home Minister Amit Shah and requested to call in the army to control the communal violence in Delhi that broke out on 24th February 2020.

He also requested that the curfew be imposed in other affected areas immediately. Meanwhile, the security personnel have conducted flag march in a few areas in the morning.

Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) SN Shrivastava and Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Satish Golcha inspecting the Jafrabad area. SN Shrivastava was appointed as Special CP on Tuesday night. He has been the ADG west zone (CRPF) in J&K. As per Sunil Kumar Gautam, Medical Superintendent, Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, the death toll has now reached 20.

The national capital remains on tenterhooks as anti-CAA rioters go on a rampage in Delhi against the Citizenship Law. Incidents of violence, arson, stone-pelting are being reported from several parts of the city, especially northeast Delhi as anti-CAA protesters continued wreaking havoc in the national capital.

Anti-CAA riots: 19 year old Vivek attacked in his own shop, drill machine bored into his head

In a horrific incident, a 19-year-old boy was attacked allegedly by a violent mob during the anti-CAA riots in Delhi on Tuesday.

According to the CNN-News18’s Payal Mehta, a surgery was performed to remove a drill machine that was bored into the skull of 19-year-old named Vivek on Tuesday. The victim who underwent the surgery at the Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital is currently recovering.

As per reports, Vivek was attacked inside his own shop.

Reportedly, the doctors stated that man’s surgery was done last night and said, “Only time will tell the extent to which he has been able to recover.” The incident was reported amid ongoing violence in various parts of Delhi.

Journalist Payal Mehta has just shared an update on Vivek’s health on Twitter. She has stated that the young boy is reportedly stable after the surgery, he has eaten and is talking.

The 42-year old reportedly died after succumbing to injuries in front of his son Monu. The child was also injured in the attack.

A Head Constable named Ratan Lal had also died yesterday in the violent clashes during the anti-CAA riots. It was earlier believed that he died due to stone pelting but autopsy report revealed that he succumbed to bullet injuries.

The rioters have gone on a rampage in the national capital and have also killed a policeman, and causing death and injuries to many others during the anti-CAA riots in Delhi. The National Capital of the country was in the throes of unprecedented violence and rioting as anti-CAA rioters ransacked the city seeking to draw international attention amidst the high-profile visit of US President Donald Trump.

A man named Mohammad Shahrukh was seen openly firing bullets at a policeman. Though many so-called ‘secular-liberals’ had tried to pass the incident off as ‘Bhagwa terror’ the lies were soon exposed.

The violence escalated and spread to other regions of Delhi where anti-CAA ‘protesters’ ran riot, engaging in violent skirmishes with pro-CAA supporters and law enforcement personnel. As of now, 17 people have died and more than 200 people, including 48 policemen, have received injuries.

If Delhi riots have shocked you, think about the plight of Pakistani Hindus

On this side of the Radcliffe line, we have a functioning democracy. We can vote and we can change our leaders if we want. For decades, one group has enjoyed veto power on who can rule India. That changed in 2014. Most of the old establishment were desperately hoping it would be a one time event, an aberration.

But it wasn’t. In 2019, the people of India repeated their verdict, this time even more emphatically. The veto power lay in shambles. Or so we thought.

Then it began. The old establishment began to pick up the pieces and said so what? Now their storm troopers, armed with stones, roam the streets of our cities, shutting down this or that area at will.

They are showing that they don’t need democracy. They can exercise the veto power by raw street action. The infamous “direct action” if you will.

Read: An eye-witness account of the ‘Great Calcutta Killing’ of August 1946

The direct action squad is divided between commands that work together like a well oiled machine. First, there are the organizers who gather people at certain spots in the name of peaceful protest, on standby for direct action. Then as per strategy, at a carefully chosen occasion, the storm troopers are sent out to engage in wanton violence. They are accompanied by camera teams who carefully capture snippets that can misrepresent the police. Within seconds, these videos are relayed to liberal journalists for posting on social media. Teams of “fact checkers” are kept ready to counter any slip ups by the storm troopers. Scripted interviews are taken to be passed on as first person testimony.

Second rung celebrities,  social media influencers as well as on ground youth organizers are then used to create sympathy for the rioters. And finally there is the overseas PR arm, the global media which will lobby against the Indian government in capitals around the world.

One astounding fact in all of this is how redundant the ‘secular’ political establishment appears to be. They may be pulling some strings from behind, sharing their contacts and helping the different groups collaborate with each other. But they appear mostly invisible. Some of it may be by design, but I suspect some of it is not.

Over the last two days, we have seen the nation being held hostage like never before. Even as the President of the United States was visiting.

Read: Donald Trump solidifies his reputation of respecting national sovereignty, says CAA and Delhi violence is up to India

As President Trump landed in India, the crowds that had been gathered for ‘peaceful protests’ at strategic spots became active. The violence was carefully choreographed for maximum global media attention, just the way Pakistan sponsored terrorists try to internationalize Kashmir.

Everything was carefully scripted, down to each media report that talked of clashes between two groups and putting most of the blame on Hindu right wing groups. As if anyone on the Hindu right would try to maximize the embarrassment for the government by getting violent at the exact moment of Trump’s visit. Just way too obvious who had the motive to burn the capital exactly on February 24 and February 25.

But like I said, everything was carefully scripted, down to each media report that made sure to call one group “protesters” and another group as “agitators.” Guess which was called which.

As the violence peaked, liberal spokespersons gleefully demanded ransom on Twitter. Dear PM, announce the withdrawal of CAA and India will be peaceful in seconds, they promised.

Ha! As if negotiating with terrorists has ever saved a country.

Millions of Indian hearts burned yesterday as India was wantonly embarrassed in front of the visiting President. With each plume of smoke rising above Delhi, our hearts sank and faces turned red with shame and regret.

Luckily, the Americans were polite, acting as if they couldn’t see the show of violence that liberal malcontents in India had arranged specifically for them. President Trump shot down a question from a mediaperson who tried to get him to comment on India’s domestic affairs. Credit also to Indian diplomats for making them aware of our sensibilities.

This is how they intend to enforce the old veto. If electoral politics will not offer it to them directly, they think they can take it back by raw street power. By holding us to ransom.

If you are seething inside as I am, just take a moment to think about the plight of Hindus in Pakistan. For a nation that has 1 billion Hindus, we speak precious little about Hindus living just a few miles across the border. We have given them up for lost. In many ways, we have become conditioned to thinking of them as already dead. Every last one of them.

But they are not dead, at least not all of them. Till there is even one Hindu left in Pakistan, there is a spark of the ancient culture still alive, in a land that used to belong to Bharat just three generations ago.

Did the riots of the last two days make you feel helpless? Now imagine the helplessness and terror that Hindus feel in Pakistan. The threat of violence awakens our most primal fears. It heightens our sense of identity. Our instinct for self preservation. Never have I felt so targeted and so self aware of my Hindu name and Hindu culture as during these anti-CAA riots.

What is your Hindu name? Suresh? Sumitra? Srinivas? Have you thought what you will do if you are attacked tomorrow? Probably not. But at the back of your mind, you probably know that you can always run to a neighborhood where you will be safe. Even if you have to flee your entire state, you can at least survive in the state next door.

But what if you were a Hindu in Pakistan? Where would you run?

I can only thank my good fortune that I am not a Hindu in Pakistan. Now more than ever before, I feel sympathy for their plight. And in helping the Hindu refugees in India, we are only saving ourselves.
