The Jaffrabad Metro Station area where Muslim groups had gathered pretending to protest against the CAA was cleared last night. Personnel of the Delhi Police had removed all anti-CAA protestors blocking the area last night.

As of Wednesday morning, the areas of Jaffrabad, Maujpur Chowk and 66 Futa road have all been cleared and protestors have left the areas. Curfew has been imposed in several areas, including Maujpur, Jaffrabad, Chand Bagh and Karawal Nagar areas of North East Delhi.

The Delhi High Court had held a midnight hearing and had asked the Delhi Police to ensure the safety of all injured persons during the anti-CAA riots. In a late-night hearing at Justice S Muralidhar’s residence, an HC bench had ordered the Delhi Police to deploy all resources to ensure safe passage to injured persons for treatment.

Keeping in view the unrest in the city, the CBSE, upon the request of the Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi, ordered that all class 10th and class 12th exams scheduled for February 26 in North East Delhi will be postponed.

Trump visits India: US-India partnership will defeat China in its AI plans

When I was a student in Zurich, Switzerland, I learnt something. I learnt that our personal data is precious, and it cannot be sold or used by anybody just like that. Data empowers those who have it. So, if we just randomly give sensitive information to corporates or governments, we are giving them a free hand to control us. In Switzerland, people are incredibly concerned about their privacy, and so are the regulators and the government. My experience there taught me that privacy is paramount as it helps to keep the power with the people. Isn’t this a fundamental requirement for a democracy?

On the other hand, the number of facial recognition companies in China are growing at an alarming rate, thanks to the massive domestic market and an authoritarian regime with little to no concern for privacy and human rights. Lest we forget that infamous episode of BBC reporter John Sudworth, who was tracked down in just seven minutes using CCTV networks coupled with Artificial Intelligence. Oh, we should not only think that this is restricted to just the government! Even private organizations use such sensitive data to monitor workers in the organization. The citizens of China are virtually powerless when it comes to owning their own private data.

There are many technologies whose advent had a significant impact on the society, but none were more transformative than Artificial Intelligence or AI, which has the potential to replace humans! It is said to have deep-rooted impacts in a country’s military and economic powers which has the potential to change how societies should be ruled or governed.

Experts have predicted that Artificial Intelligence can increase economic productivity massively and has the potential to double up economic growth rates. So, it is incredibly lucrative for every country to gain an edge over the others in terms of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence can change the way battles are fought by integrating a far better understanding of battlefields with synthesized information, faster decision-making systems and complex operations. The recent introductions of drone swarms are proof of the same. These are small autonomous drones which have the power and potential to disorient and overwhelm even the most powerful armies. So, the entire debate on who will lead the world – The United States of America or China- fundamentally rests on who will lead the whole Artificial Intelligence movement. This also brings another debate into the forefront; which form of governance is better suited for such a discourse: A democratic government or an authoritarian government.

But, let us take a look at how China is using Artificial Intelligence to torment its citizens. They have a scheme called Social Credit System which rewards or penalizes its citizens for their behaviour or their political loyalty. Now, China is using Artificial Intelligence to reduce the cost of and increase state surveillance to increase government control over public behaviour further. They are also using artificial intelligence to enable Deep Fakes and other forms of disinformation to exploit further and disrupt democracies.

The authoritarian nature of China has made it easy for the government to create policies that will lead to huge investments and corporate cooperation. It is estimated that the Chinese investment in artificial intelligence runs into double digit billion dollars. Companies like Baidu Inc., Alibaba etc. also support this endeavour. However, in contrast to this, no other country has been able to secure any support from corporates to cooperate with them to explore artificial intelligence options in national security applications. And there is a reason for this. China is a reservoir of vast amounts of private data of its citizens. This makes it easier for algorithms to drive present and future waves of innovation. However, these algorithm regimes ae extremely unethical and violate all international legal and privacy norms.

However, not all is lost for us. China’s madness to drive this artificial intelligence innovation is indicative of its deep-seeded insecurities. The investment in China’s artificial intelligence start-ups shrank from 124.3 billion yuan in 2018 to 84.1 billion yuan in 2019. Open political systems have many advantages, and that is what the corporates are realising slowly and steadily. India, for example, has been repeatedly billed as the hottest destination for start-ups with the recent renewed interest of the VCs.

We have seen Google, Oracle, Microsoft and Amazon battling to serve the cloud computing and machine learning needs of the American government, we can only expect similar drives to take place in India is the next three to five years. The Indian government has been pushing vehemently for digitisation which will now act as an incentive for the corporates to win big contracts, thus generating adequate funds for this revolution. Perhaps, a considerable number of start-ups in artificial intelligence who are doing ground-breaking work is proof enough that India is indeed not far behind in this race.

With the recent visit of Donald Trump in India, we can only expect it to lead this change. With the technical prowess of America and the talent pool of India, we can definitely wipe out Chinese supremacy from the globe. Together we can meander towards becoming future ready through concrete measures and an unwavering partnership. China’s artificial intelligence industry is expected to see its first-ever downturn in both deal numbers and total venture capital and private equity investment in China AI since 2012 this year. So, both India and USA should work together as a force to reckon with and capitalize on this opportunity to lead the Artificial Intelligence Innovation movement.

‘Ghus kar maarenge, no matter where you are’ was the message, says former Air Force Chief BS Dhanoa on Balakot anniversary

On Wednesday, February 26 – the first anniversary of the Balakot airstrike, former Air Force Chief BS Dhanoa said that the bombing of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror camp in Pakistan’s Balakot by Indian Air Force (IAF) marks a paradigm shift in the way India conducts operations, reports ANI.

Speaking to the media on the anniversary of Balakot strikes, the ex-Air Force Chief warned the Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organizations that no matter where they are hiding, India will enter their homes and kill them. “The message that we wanted to give was, ‘ghus kar maarenge’ no matter where you are. Otherwise, we could have attacked them from our territory as well,” said BS Dhanoa.

Air Chief Marshal (Retd) BS Dhanoa, who was the head of the Indian Air Force during the Balakot airstrikes, further added, “One year has gone past and we look back with satisfaction. We have learned a lot of lessons, a lot of things have been implemented post-Balakot operations. Basically, it is a paradigm shift in the way we conduct our operations. The other side never believed that we could carry out a strike inside Pakistan to take out terror training camp which we successfully executed. It is a paradigm shift and the result is there for you to see.”

Dhanoa said the mission has not been declassified yet. “All that I want to tell you is when the government told us and all three services were there, and because it is not only the Air Force. It is always a joint battle. It is the first time I believe that all three services said that should there be an escalation as far as Pakistan is concerned, we can easily take them on,” he said.

“And go-ahead was given and thereafter everybody knew that the Air Force was going to lead the strike. After the mission was carried out, I personally informed the national leadership as well as the other two service chiefs that mission has been successful early in the morning,” said Dhanoa.

“And also at that time, the thought was that you need to tell JeM that we will kill you, no matter where you are hiding and not to cause collateral damage. The weapons were chosen accordingly,” Dhanoa added.

He further underlined that the Pakistan Air Force was not in the loop with its national leadership and ISI about the presence of terror camp in Balakot.

Exactly a year back on February 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force (IAF) carried out strikes on the training camps of terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terror outfit in Pakistan’s Balakot to avenge the February 14 Pulwama attack, which claimed lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans. In the early morning hours of February 26, 2019, 12 Mirage 2000 jets dropped 1,000-kilogram bombs on the terror camps.

“Rioters killed rioters, no provision to give relief to them”: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath goes tough on anti-CAA rioters

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has categorically stated that the state government has no provision to compensate families of people who die in “riot-related incidents”, reports Times of India.

In a written reply in the state assembly on Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath stated that there are no provisions to provide relief to people who died on streets rioting against the state. “Ji Nahin (no, please),” the CM replied when he was questioned about giving compensation to the family members of the victims.

The Chief Minister also stated that 21 rioters have died in ‘riot-related incidents’ in the last six months. He said 400 police personnel were injured in stone-pelting by protesters while 61 cops suffered gunshot injuries.

On Tuesday, the CM was responding to SP MLA Rakesh, clarified that none of the anti-CAA rioters in the state died of police bullets. While referring to these incidents of violence in his speech in the assembly last week, the CM had said that “rioters were killed by rioters”.

Following the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act, the anti-CAA rioters descended on to streets to protest against the law. The mobs had resorted to vandalism and had gone on a rampage against the police officials. The rioters had already destructed several public properties while indulging in stone-pelting to attack police officials.

However, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had announced tough measures to combat the anti-citizenship amendment act (CAA) rioters and promised to seize the property of every rioter and use its funds to repair the damaged public property. The Uttar Pradesh government had also identified at least 498 properties to seize them, which belonged to rioters who vandalized public properties in the state during the anti-CAA protest.

The Uttar Pradesh government led by Yogi Adityanath had also walked the talk on their promise of making rioters pay for damaging the public property in the state as Muslim residents of Bulandshahr was made to pay over Rs 6 lakh to the district magistrate.

Mosque attacked during Delhi riots and Hanuman flag foisted? Rana Ayyub reports video, The Wire changed its report: Here is everything that happened

‘Eminent journalist’ Rana Ayyub has shared a video on Twitter that purportedly shows some individuals vandalizing a Mosque in Delhi. A saffron flag can also be seen in the hands of one of the men. Rana Ayyub had shared the video earlier but had deleted it after it was alleged to be fake. Now, she claims that she has reverified the authenticity of the video.

Rana Ayyub had deleted the video she had shared earlier after people on the social media platform questioned its authenticity. In that tweet as well, Rana Ayyub had claimed that the individuals were attempting to place a saffron flag on the Mosque.

Rana Ayyub’s now-deleted tweet

Numerous allegations are being made that the said individuals are ‘Hindutva terrorists’ on the basis of the said video. The video was shared by several other individuals on the social media platform. This user claimed that it is from Ashok Nagar.

The veracity of the viral video was questioned by others.

It is also claimed that a police complaint has been filed against the controversial journalist for the alleged fake video she shared amidst communal tensions at the national capital.

The police complaint might have motivated Rana Ayyub to delete the video from her account but she appears to firmly believe that the video is authentic. However, as of this moment, the claims of damage to a Mosque in Ashok Vihar has been denied by the Police. At the same time, The New Indian Express has reported that a mosque has indeed been set on fire in Delhi. A Mosque was set on fire in Delhi’s Gokulpuri according to TNIE on Tuesday.

The ones responsible for the act haven’t yet been identified. Thus, there is no evidence as of yet of the political affiliations of the individuals involved. As per claims on social media, the video shared by Rana Ayyub and others was actually from Samastipur in Bihar where communal tensions had erupted two years ago. However, OpIndia could not independently verify these claims.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police of North West Delhi has clarified that no mosque has been damaged in Ashok Vihar amidst rumours regarding the same. “It is to clarify that no such incident has taken place in the area of Ashok Vihar. Please do not spread false information,” he said.

It is The Wire which had initially published a report that claimed a Mosque was set on fire in Ashok Vihar. However, they have rectified the report to claim that the Mosque was vandalized in Ashok Nagar. As per Google, the distance between Ashok Nagar and Ashok Vihar is just over 10 kilometers.

The Wire Report

The whole matter as of now appears to be that The Wire claimed that a mosque was damaged in Ashok Vihar. The Delhi Police has denied reports of damage to any Mosque in the area. The Wire has since then changed their report to claim that a mosque was damaged in Ashok Nagar. The video that Rana Ayyub shared is also being claimed to be from Ashok Nagar.

Religious places have been attacked on numerous occasions by violent mobs after the passage of the Citizenship Amendment Act. At Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, anti-CAA rioters had attacked three Hindu Temples on Monday. Violent mobs, with groups of Muslim women actively participating, went on a rampage in Uparkot, Turkman Gate, and Baniyapada areas.

The anti-CAA Muslim mob had pelted stones at police personnel, attacked police vehicles and had even set a transformer on fire near the Jama Masjid, Aligarh. Police had to finally resort to firing tear gas shells to disperse the protestors. A Muslim mob had attacked and desecrated a temple in Bihar’s Patna on the 21st of December last year, days after the CAA was passed by both houses of the Parliament. It was a Hanuman Temple that was vandalized and some miscreants had even desecrated the Murthi.

Serious violence and anarchy have broken out in Delhi over the ongoing riots against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The violence is of communal nature and Hindus have been murdered and their property has been set on fire amidst chants of ‘Allah Hu Akbar’ and ‘Nara e Taqbeer’. Furthermore, a gun-wielding man who fired shots at the Police has been identified as one local named Shahrukh and he has been arrested by the Police. However, despite evidence to the contrary, the usual suspects on Twitter are trying hard to blame ‘Bhagwa terror’ for the ruckus.

Pakistanis express their euphoria over the death of head constable Ratan Lal during the anti-CAA riots in Delhi

Even as violence gripped several parts of Delhi, some Pakistanis expressed their joy over the gruesome killing of the Delhi Police head constable Ratan Lal by anti-CAA rioters. Scores of Pakistanis descended on the Times Now’s Facebook post on the unfortunate death of the policeman and conveyed their happiness over it.

Times Now post on the death of Delhi Police head constable Ratan Lal

While most of the Facebook users expressed their condolences on the death of the courageous policeman who succumbed to his injuries after bravely fighting the anti-CAA rioters on February 24, some morally depraved Pakistanis were ecstatic that an Indian policeman had lost his life in combat with the anti-CAA rioters in northeast Delhi. These Pakistanis reacted with “Haha” on Facebook to celebrate the death of the police official.

Multan, too, is a province in Pakistan.

Several Muslim anti-CAA rioters went on a rampage after a clash broke out between Pro-CAA and Anti-CAA groups in Maujpur near Jeffrabad, thereby leading to open firing in an attempt to intimidate the cops countering the mob, heavy stone-pelting and vandalism of public property.

The police personnel were summoned to bring the situation under control. Amidst the riots, a video of a man opening fire at the police, and one policeman bravely standing in his way emerged. The shooter, identified as Shahrukh, is now under arrest.

However, while grappling with the bloodthirsty anti-CAA rioters, head constable Ratan Lal lost his life. Earlier, it was reported that Lal was killed after being mortally injured in stone-pelting. However, the autopsy report revealed that Lal was shot dead by the rioters. “A bullet was stuck in Ratan Lal’s body. It entered from left shoulder and went to the right shoulder. It was removed during autopsy,” the report said. “Ratan Lal was shot dead,” the autopsy report revealed.

Lal, 42, belonged to Fathepur Tihwali village in Rajasthan’s Sikar district. Lal is survived by his wife and three children. The Sikar resident had joined the Delhi Police as a constable in 1998. He married a Jaipur resident in 2004.

Anti-CAA protesters have long been toeing the Pakistani line. Earlier, “Jinnah wali Azadi” slogans resonated at Shaheen Bagh, where anti-CAA protesters illegally squatted over one of the busiest thoroughfares of Delhi. With the recent spate of violence in Delhi, the anti-CAA rioters once again pulled out a move out of Pakistani playbook, seeking to internationalise the new Citizenship Law while the US President is on his visit to India.

The Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday evening was quoted by ANI as saying that Home Minister Amit Shah appeals to the public to desist from spreading rumours and added that “political parties should cooperate with police” to quell these rumours and dispel fear among the public. He also appealed to the public at large and media to communicate responsibly and avoid spreading rumours.

“Home Minister Amit Shah has asked the Police Commissioner of Delhi to have senior police officers present in Police Control Rooms so that rumours can be dispelled as quickly as possible,” the statement said.

The national capital remains on tenterhooks as Muslim anti-CAA rioters go on a rampage in Delhi against the Citizenship Law. Incidents of violence, arson, stone-pelting are being reported from several parts of the city, especially northeast Delhi as anti-CAA protesters continued wreaking havoc in the national capital.

Areas like Chandbagh, Karawal Nagar, Kadampuri, Maujpur, Khureji Khas and Bhajanpura have been the epicentre of violent riots by the anti-CAA jihadi mob. The number of deaths recorded in the national capital has increased to ten while several have been reported injured.
