Rajasthan: Miscreants paste slip with Urdu text on Hanuman idol in Kota, police register case after Hindu organisations complaint

In Rajasthan, a new case of contempt for the Hindu religion and its gods has come to light. In this incident, Unidentified miscreants pasted derogatory Urdu stickers on a statue of Lord Hanuman in a temple in Rajasthan’s Kota district.

The incident happened in Ayana village of Kota district where the slip was pasted on the historic statue of Lord Hanuman in the Radha Krishna Mandir. The slip was pasted by someone in the night. When people went to the temple in the morning, they discovered the slip. As soon as the locals got information about the incident, a large number of people reached the temple. They informed about the incident to Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and after that a complaint was filed. Accordingly, police registered a case against unknown people.

The police have taken cognizance of the matter and are investigating the matter. A tweet made by the handle of Rural Kota Police stated, “As soon as the above matter came to the notice, the slip pasted on the idol has been removed and legal action is being taken by registering a case in the said case.”

In the meanwhile, additional police force have been deployed at the area to prevent any communal. The situation at present in the village is normal. Police believe that it might have been done to incite communal tension in the area, or may be someone had done it to fulfil their wishes as per instructions of some tantrik. At present the police are conducting a search operation to find the culprits.

A similar incident occurred recently in Sidhra, Jammu, where some fanatics vandalised a Hindu shrine. The god and goddess idols were crushed into pieces after the temple was vandalised.

“Will bury you 20 ft deep if you mess with Matoshree”: Sanjay Raut threatens Navneet and Ravi Rana over Hanuman Chalisa row

Amidst the ongoing row over Hanuman Chalisa in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has issued a threat to Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana, the independent political couple from Amravati. “Do not dare to mess up with Matoshree. Will bury you 20ft under the ground,” threatened Raut while speaking at a Press Conference in Nagpur on Saturday. Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana had challenged to recite the Hanuman Chalisa in front of Shiv Sena Head Uddhav Thackeray’s house ‘Matoshree’ in Mumbai.

The Shiv Sena leader made many inciteful comments against the power couple who have taken up the loudspeaker movement in Maharashtra. “I am saying this on record. Will bury you 20ft below if you mess with Matoshree,” Sanjay Raut said. He alleged that the Hindutva of Ranas is riddled with poison. “This is not real Hindutva. What you are spreading is a poison of hatred. We will suppress such tactics,” Raut added.

The Shiv Sena firebrand mentioned that ‘The Bunty and Bubli’ of Amravati have arrived in Mumbai. “I applaud Shiv Sena workers for blocking them from leaving their house by parking ambulances in front of their residence. They have kept ambulances ready for any emergency to carry Bunty and Bubly to the hospital. This shows our Humanitarian approach”, Raut went on to add.

“If anyone tries to challenge Matoshree, they should keep materials for their last rights ready,” remarked Raut while speaking to the media. “The BJP is targeting us by firing from the shoulders of Rana couple acting as Shikhandi. They are bogus people taking the cause of Hindutva, while we are capable of recreating Mahabharat,” Raut said.

Speaking on Shivsena’s ‘Hindutva’, the leader said, “Our Hindutva is Gadadhari (with a mace) and not Ghantadhari (of temple bells). We will lift the mace to protect the religion the way we carried the hammer in Ayodhya in 1992.”

On Saturday, MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana were arrested by Mumbai police after Shiv Sena workers foiled their attempts to recite Hanuman Chalisa in front of CM Uddhav Thackeray’s house Matoshree. When Navneet Rana announced her plan to recite Hanuman Chalisa in front of Matoshri, Shiv Sena workers staged a counter-protest in front of her house.  The duo later announced the decision to cancel the plan to recite Hanuman Chalisa in front of the Maharashtra CM’s house in the wake of PM Modi’s visit to Mumbai today.

TMC leader Anwar issues fatwa, kicks pregnant woman that leads to miscarriage: Here is what we know so far

A Trinamool Congress (TMC) Panchayat Samiti member has been accused of kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach, leading to her miscarriage. The incident took place in the Tengri Danga area in Shantipur town in Nadia district of West Bengal.

As per a report in ETV Bangla, the accused has been identified as Anwar Hossain Mandal. A complaint has been filed with the police by the victim’s family. Anwar has threatened to kill the family members of the victim after learning that they have filed a police complaint against him.

Citing local sources, ETV Bangla reported that the accused is the owner of a local brick kiln. A native of Gayeshpur in Nadia, Anwar had issued a fatwa restricting a woman named Sulekha Khatun from visiting her parents’ home in the neighbouring village.

Khatun, who had been living in the Tengri Danga area ever since her marriage 7 years ago, refused to abide by his diktat. She is a housewife by occupation. An enranged Anwar then laid siege on her paternal house on the night of April 17, 2022.

While speaking about the matter to ETV Bangla, the victim’s elder brother Badshah Sheikh informed, “We are also associated with the TMC. To exert his political influence, Anwar and his men came to our house. At that time, only my mother and sister were at home. My pregnant sister was kicked in the abdomen. After being admitted to the hospital for 3 days, she suffered a miscarriage.”

“We had therefore filed a complaint with the police on Friday (April 22). On that very night at around 12:30 am, Anwar Hossian and his men broke into the house and vandalised it. They also fired gunshots and hurled bombs. We somehow managed to survive. We had to file another complaint with the police.”

As per a report in Anandabazar Patrika, the TMC leader had instilled a sense of fear among the residents of the Tengri Danga area. The victim’s father Mannan Sheikh informed, “Even during the Holy month of Ramzan, I am unable to enter my house due to the terror (perpetrated by Anwar Hossain Mandal).”

It has also come to light that the accused would also threaten his fellow party workers. “If we don’t listen to his orders, then, he intimidates us with threats of filing fake cases,” recounted fellow TMC leader Joydeb Biswas.

Son of TMC leader accused of rape and murder in Nadia

Earlier on April 4 this year, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed in the Shyamnagar locality in Hanskhali Block Number- I in Nadia district of West Bengal. The accused was named as one Brajgopal, the son of Trinamool Congress (TMC) Gajna Gram Panchayat member Samar Gowla.

Reportedly, the accused had invited the victim to his house under the pretext of birthday celebrations. The girl became unwell, following which she was rushed to a local doctor. She passed away the following day.

According to the family members of the victim, the girl died due to excessive bleeding. They alleged that she was raped by the son of the TMC leader. The family members also claimed that the TMC leader Samar Gowla and other party workers forcibly cremated the girl’s body at a local crematorium.

The incident had created political upheaval in the State, with the TMC supremo and incumbent CM Mamata Banerjee trying to trivialise allegations of rape and murder made by the victim’s family.

Meet the Ranas: The Independent Politician-duo from Maharashtra’s Amravati arrested for planning to chant Hanuman Chalisa in front of Matoshree

Independent MP Navneet Rana and her husband independent MLA Ravi Rana have made national headlines over the Hanuman Chalisa row in Maharashtra. The duo has challenged to recite the mantra outside Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray’s ancestral house ‘Matoshree’, the plans of which were foiled by Shiv Sena workers with instances of violence over the row. On Sunday, Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi were detained at the Khar Police station after some Shiv Sena leaders had filed an FIR against them.

However, beyond their recent manoeuvrings in challenging the Shiv Sena, the Ranas wield considerable power from their turf Amravati, the biggest city in Vidarbha after Nagpur.

Amravati’s Flex Kumar meets Southern film Diva

Ravi Rana, 43, rose to power as a youth leader in the Amravati, often known for his calm demeanour. Rana has been winning the Badnera seat as an Independent MLA since 2009. He enjoys distinctive support from the youth, which helped him defeat a powerful NCP candidate while securing his rise as an Independent politician from the constituency. As one enters Amravati, Rana’s posters and life-sized cutouts are hard to miss – a practice that owed him the title ‘Flex Kumar’.

Rana’s penchant for Yoga as an enthusiast made him organise Ramdev Baba’s Shivirs many a time in the city. In one such Yog Shivir in Mumbai, he met Navneet Kaur, a multilingual actress from the Southern films. Brought up in Mumbai in a Punjabi household, Kaur started her career on the silver screen with the 2004 Kannada film ‘Darshan’ in a lead role. Apart from Kannada, she has worked in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi and Hindi movies alongside veterans like Mammoomty, Jr NTR and others. The duo engaged in wedlock in a mass wedding ceremony in 2011, blessed by Swami Ramdev himself.

The Independent candidature

While Ravi Rana had already secured a mass base in Badnera as a member of the state legislative assembly, it was now for Navneet to enter Politics in 2014. Despite her husband’s continued conflicts with Sharad Pawar’s NCP, she managed to bag an Aghadi (former NCP+Congress alliance) ticket to challenge Shiv Sena’s Anandrao Adsul which she lost against him. Rana confessed to having lost against Adsul because of the prevalent Modi wave in 2014. In 2019, she again contested independently against Adsul, now backed by the Congress and the NCP externally and defeated the Shiv Sena candidate with a huge margin.

Amravati, which had been a Shiv Sena bastion for 25 years, was now taken over by the Ranas in the state legislative assembly as well as on the National level, with Navneet Rana winning the Loksabha seat. Since then, the duo enjoys support from local youth, women and the Adivasi population in the region. Today, Ravi Rana enjoys the monicker of being called ‘Mama’ while Navneet Rana has become the ‘Vahini’ (sister-in-law) among the local populace.

Snide with the Shiv Sena and The Hindutva Push

The Ranas derive their ire against the Shiv Sena and the NCP from the challenge posed by local party candidates in their respective constituencies. In 2019, after the assembly elections, Navneet Rana had openly expressed her pleasure with Devendra Fadnavis taking oath as a Chief Minister with the support of Ajit Pawar from the NCP. With the Hanuman Chalisa agitation, Navneet and Ravi Rana have successfully enlarged their leadership to a national context, emerging as a challenge to the ruling parties in Maharashtra other than the BJP.

In 2021, Navneet Rana filed a complaint against Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant with Loksabha speaker Om Birla, accusing him of threatening her saying, “Let me see how you roam around in Mumbai, will put you in jail too.” In return, her political rival Adsul accused Rana of fudging her caste certificate to contest the Amravati Lok Sabha seat. The Ranas’ conflict with the Shivsena is deeper than it looks, all stemming from their test to preserve their local relevance in Amravati’s politics. Apart from their dwindling political stances, the duo is often seen forwarding BJP-sympathetic propositions in both the houses.

Navneet Rana openly celebrated the abrogation of Article 370 and the cause of Ram Mandir in Lok Sabha. Besides this, she is known for her argumentative speeches in the house, with a hardliner will to implement central government policies on roads, infrastructure, water and sanitation, and electricity in her constituency. Rana looks forward to hosting PM Narendra Modi in her turf, to preside over the inauguration of an infrastructure project or a two in Amravati.

Rana Kapoor, Gandhis’ MF Hussain painting worth 2 Cr and the Yes Bank scam – All you need to know

On April 23, it was revealed that disgraced banker Rana Kapoor has admitted in front of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that he was forced to buy an MF Hussain painting from Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for Rs 2 crores. He further mentioned in his confession to ED that he was promised Padma Bhushan in exchange for the money. The amount he paid was allegedly used for Congress leader Sonia Gandhi’s treatment in New York. Here is all you need to know about Rana Kapoor, the painting in question, and the Yes Bank scam.

Who is Rana Kapoor?

Rana Kapoor is the co-founder, former Managing Director, and former Chief Executive of Yes Bank. Born and brought up in Delhi, Kapoor did his schooling at Frank Anthony Public School, New Delhi. He graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, and did his MBA from Rutgers University in the United States.

Kapoor started his banking career as a junior banker in the Barakhamba branch of Bank of America. He worked there for 16 years. After a short stint at ANZ Grindlays for three years, he joined hands with his brother-in-law Ashok Kapur and Harkirat Singh to form Rabo India Finance. In 2003, all three sold their equity and got a license to set up a private bank. In 2004, Yes Bank was established. In 2019 he stepped down from the post of CEO.

What is the Yes Bank scam?

Everything was fine till March 2014 with Yes Bank. It had a loan book of Rs 55,633 crores, and deposits were Rs 74,192 crores. However, within five years, by September 2019, the loan book grew four times and touched 2.25 trillion, but the deposits were less than three times the loan book. The Bank came under the Reserve Bank of India’s scanner after it accumulated a torrent of bad loans in 2018 to defaulters like DHFL, Café Coffee Day and Jet Airways.

The Bank was put on a moratorium by RBI for a 30-day period. The withdrawals were capped at Rs 50,000 for the period. RBI then announced ‘Yes Bank Ltd. Reconstruction Scheme, 2020’, changing the authorised capital to Rs 5000 crores and 2400 equity shares standing at Rs 10 each. In addition, SBI, which leads the consortium of banks investing in the ‘reconstructed bank’, will not reduce its holding below 26% before the completion of three years.

The Enforcement Directorate grilled Rana Kapoor in the matter under money laundering charges, and after 15 hours of questioning, he was arrested on March 8, 2020, under the provision of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

How is the Gandhi family linked with Rana Kapoor?

Subsequent to his arrest, it was revealed that the Gandhi-Vadhra family was linked to the Yes Bank scam. Reports suggested the Income Tax department has found an alleged nexus between former Yes Bank promoter Rana Kapoor and Gandhi-scion Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. It was alleged that Kapoor had close ties with the Gandhis. During questioning, he confessed to buying an MF Hussain painting from the Gandhis for Rs 2 crores.

What is the controversy about the painting of MF Hussain?

The MF Hussain Painting was given to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi by the painter himself in 1985 during the centenary celebrations of Congress. The ownership of the painting came under controversy as ex-PM Rajiv Gandhi was Prime Minister at that time. There were speculations if the gift was accepted by Rajiv Gandhi in his personal capacity or as the Prime Minister of India.

If the painting was gifted to the Prime Minister of India, it became public property. In that case, Priyanka Gandhi did not have the right to sell it or even own it in the first place. If the painting was gifted to the Congress party, it would have been the grand old political party to own the rights of the painting. Again, in that case, Priyanka Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi would not have any rights to sell the painting unless the party gave them a power of attorney.

If the painting was gifted to Rajiv Gandhi in his personal capacity, then it would have been owned by all three, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, in case there was no will. There is no clarity as to whom it was gifted and who owned it after Rajiv Gandhi was replaced as Prime Minister of India.

Though Prime Ministers are allowed by law to keep the gifts they receive during their tenure, the price of the item can not exceed Rs 5,000 if they want to retain it. Thus, if the painting was gifted to the chair, it would be wrong on the Gandhi family’s part to retain the painting after Rajiv Gandhi was replaced as PM.

In 2020, a letter was made public where Priyanka Gandhi Vadra acknowledged the sale of the painting that was under her ownership and possession at that time. It was also revealed that Congress leader Milind Deora was in continuous touch with Rana Kapoor for the sale of the painting. Kapoor was later informed that the amount paid to Gandhis would be used for the treatment of Sonia Gandhi in New York. Furthermore, he was promised Padam Bhushan in exchange for purchasing the painting.

Notably, in 2011, it was announced by the Congress party that Sonia Gandhi had gone to New York for surgery. Details of her illness were never revealed. Since then, Sonia Gandhi has gone on several foreign trips for medical treatment.

What can happen now?

If it gets proven that the painting was, in fact, gifted to the Prime Minister’s office and not Rajiv Gandhi in his personal capacity, the Prime Minister’s Office can take it back and submit it in Toshakhana, where gifts received by the sitting and former PMs are kept. Additionally, ED and other government agencies can investigate the matter and may seek recovery of the funds from the Gandhi family.

In 2020, ED officials had said that Priyanka could be summoned for questioning over the sale of the MF Hussain painting of her father, the former PM Rajiv Gandhi, to the Yes Bank founder after the current summons of major debtors and industrialists are over. “The Rs 2 crore paid by Rana Kapoor to Priyanka Gandhi was received by him from the bank shortly before he gave it to her and thus becomes part of our investigation into the case. Both the buyer and the seller could attract action under Section 3 of the PMLA Act,” a senior official was quoted in the Indian Express report.

Section 3 of the PMLA says “Whosoever directly or indirectly attempts to indulge or knowingly assists or knowingly is a party or is actually involved in any process or activity connected with proceeds of crime and projecting it as untainted property shall be guilty of the offense of money laundering.”

Madhya Pradesh: Mohsin alias Waseem, who shot Khargone SP during Ram Navami violence, arrested from Kasrawad

0

Mohsin alias Waseem, who shot Khargone Superintendent of Police (SP), Siddharth Chaudhary, in communal riots during the Ram Navami procession in Madhya Pradesh, was apprehended by police on Friday.

Current SP Rohit Kashwani told the media that the accused had been apprehended from Kasrawad town in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh. According to Kashwani, 64 FIRs have been filed so far in connection with the incident in Khargone city on April 10, and 175 persons have been detained.

Kashwani said the accused is being questioned and further information is being gathered. On the basis of technological evidence, he continued, a search for the other suspects is ongoing in areas surrounding Khargone and other locations.

According to sources, Mohsin has already been charged with four criminal cases, including the sale of illicit weapons and assault.

Khargone SP Siddharth Choudhary is currently on leave as he is undergoing treatment after sustaining a bullet injury in his leg. In an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, SP Siddharth Chaudhary recalled how a miscreant wielding a sword had dashed toward the Hindus devotees.

A police team of 12 to 15 officers attempted to apprehend the sword-wielding miscreant and were initially successful, but he soon managed to escape and flee. Then, as the SP attempted to catch up with him by running behind him, someone shot at his leg from behind. Chaudhary stated that at first, he thought someone had struck him with a stone. But one of his officers realised that the SP had been hit with a bullet.

Attack on Ram Navami procession in Khargone

A Ram Navami procession that began in the Talab Chowk area of Khargone on April 10 had to be abandoned in the middle of the procession after stones were hurled at it. Several automobiles were set on fire, escalating the riots. To put the situation under control, the police had to resort to firing tear gas rounds. A total of 24 individuals were hurt in the fighting, including six police officers.

The Khargone authorities took strict action against the miscreants who threw stones during the Ram Navami celebration the day following the clashes. The authorities demolished the unlawfully built premises used for stone-pelting. Five JCB machines were deployed for the task.

Kerala govt refutes AAP leader Atishi Marlena’s claims that officials from Kerala visited Delhi to understand ‘Delhi school model’

A day after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Atishi Marlena claimed that officials from Kerala had visited Delhi government schools to understand Delhi’s education model, the Kerala government has denied sending any officials on such a visit to Delhi.

In a tweet on Saturday (April 23), AAP leader and Kalkaji MLA Atishi Marlena said, “It was wonderful to host officials from Kerala at one of our schools in Kalkaji. They were keen to understand and implement our education model in their state. This is Arvind Kejriwal’s government’s idea of nation-building. Development through collaboration.”

A similar tweet was posted by the official Twitter handle of the Aam Aadmi Party. It said, “Dignitaries from Kerala visit Delhi Govt Schools to witness the education revolution first-hand; say didn’t expect facilities to be THIS GOOD!”

“Impressed by Kejriwal Govt’s Happiness classes, educationists express the desire to implement it in Kerala,” it further added.

Arvind Kejriwal has been blowing the trumpet of his ‘Delhi model’ ever since the Punjab elections. Given that Kerala is the most literate State of India on paper, getting officials from the State to implement the ‘education model’ of Delhi government schools would have been a big boost to the image of the AAP supremo.

However, Kerala Education Minister denied reports of sending any officials to Delhi, to understand Delhi education model or for anything else. Minister for Education & Labour, Kerala, V Sivankutty, stated, “Kerala’s Dept of Education has not sent anyone to learn about the ‘Delhi Model’.”

“At the same time, all assistance was provided to officials who had visited from Delhi to study the ‘Kerala Model’ last month. We would like to know which ‘officials’ were welcomed by the AAP MLA,” he further emphasised.

As per a report in The Indian Express, the Kerala ‘officials’ who visited the Delhi school included Victor TI (regional secretary of CBSE School Management Association), M. Dinesh Babu (Treasurer of Confederation of Kerala Sahodaya Complexes) and others.

NDTV broadcasts Telangana government’s paid propaganda as news, violates media ethics again

Far-left news outlet NDTV, often accused of being a mouthpiece of ‘secular’ political parties, was recently caught broadcasting Telangana Government propaganda as news.

On April 21, the controversial news outlet NDTV broadcast a show titled “Telangana A Phoenix Rises” on its platform to carry out propaganda in favour of the K Chandrashekhar Rao-led Telangana government.

In its show, the NDTV explained to its viewers how the KCR-led government turned India’s youngest state into a ‘top performer’ on the national stage. The 32-minute show claimed that the TRS government developed Telangana from being one of the country’s most deprived states to the best performer stat nationally.

“It is an account of how the futuristic vision and dynamic leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao have proven that effective governance and empowering schemes are the only paths to progress,” claimed the show.

The NDTV ran the Telangana government’s paid advertorial as a news story without marking it as a paid advertorial. The same video published on its YouTube channel has a marking that reads “Telangana government initiative”, which is only shown for a few seconds at the beginning of the 32-minute show.

The NDTV portrays the TRS propaganda videos as factually accurate news without any scrutiny throughout the show. The NDTV, which often screams about speaking truth to power, seems to have compromised their so-called ethics to pursue its commercial interests.

However, in doing so, they have compromised media ethics, which some accuse NDTV of not possessing in the first place.

Senior Journalist Kanchan Gupta, who is currently an adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, flagged the unethical behaviour of the far-left news outlet NDTV and noted that the broadcasting of propaganda videos of a state government was not only against the basic ethics of journalism but also violated the broadcast code.

He also accused NDTV of broadcasting Telangana Government propaganda as news and added that anybody could make out it is an advertorial which should have been clearly marked as paid advertising or sponsored content.

Although there are no specific guidelines for advertorials published by media in India, basic journalistic ethics say that paid content must be properly labelled, so that people don’t mistake them to be genuine news reports. As advertorials are just another form of advertisement, the guidelines for advertisement apply for them.

The Rule 7(10) of the Advertisement Code of Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Rules, 1994 says that “all advertisement should be clearly distinguishable from the programme.”

According to the guideline on paid news by News Broadcasters & Digital Association (NBDA), “Every news broadcasting organization shall disclose conspicuously in an appropriate manner during broadcast of a program, on their television channel/s and on their website/s, including during a news, current affairs, sports, entertainment or promotional broadcast as to whether the content of such broadcast has been paid for by or on behalf of the Entity that is subject matter of such broadcast in any manner whatsoever; and whether such broadcast is an “advertorial” or other media marketing initiative.” It must be noted that NDTV is a member of NBDA, which was earlier known as News Broadcasters Association (NBA). The guideline on paid news has been formulated by News Broadcasting & Digital Standards Authority (NBDSA) under the NBDA.

As per the Norms of Journalistic Conduct published by the Press Council of India, “Journalistic propriety demands that advertisements must be clearly distinguishable from news content.” This guideline is for print media.

The running of paid propaganda as news is not new to Indian ‘secular-liberal’ media. The Hindu, another left-wing news publication, has been up to this for a long time, taking a step ahead to publish propaganda favouring India’s hostel entities.

As China wreaked havoc across the world with Wuhanvirus and its aggression along the LAC and several other issues, the liberal media outlet – The Hindu had chosen to further its commercial and ideological interests by promoting Communist China’s propaganda material.

While China faces global condemnation for its alleged Coronavirus experiments in the Wuhan Lab and subsequent misinformation propaganda regarding the origin and spread of the Pandemic, its aggression along the LAC and several other issues, ‘The Hindu’ has chosen to further its commercial and ideological interests by promoting Communist China’s propaganda material.

On July 1, the Hindu published a full-page advertorial paid for and planted by China on the occasion of the centenary anniversary of the Communist Party of China. The paid content appeared on the third page of the paper. Interestingly, the paid content by China that the Hindu has published appeared just like any other routine report for an untrained eye.

This was not the first time that the left-wing media outlet Hindu has provided a golden opportunity for the Communist Party of China to peddle its propaganda on Indian soil. Last year, a few months after the deadly clash between the Indian Army and Chinese troops at the Galwan valley leading to the death of 20 brave Indian soldiers, the Hindu had published a similar advertorial favouring China.

Rajasthan: FIRs against News18 anchor Aman Chopra over Alwar temple demolition coverage, accused of instigating communal hatred

0

In a recent development, FIRs have been filed in Rajasthan against News18 anchor Aman Chopra over his coverage of temples’ demolition in Alwar on his TV debate show.

FIRs against Chopra have been registered at the Bundi police station in Rajasthan and the Bichhiwada police station in Dungarpur. Apart from promoting communal discord, and conspiring to incite riots, serious sections of sedition have also been added against Chopra.

During his show on the demolition of temples in Alwar, Aman Chopra brought up the anti-encroachment drive held in Jahangirpuri recently and wondered whether the action in Alwar was a retaliation for the drive in Jahangirpuri. Following the show, a coordinated hashtag was run on social media urging authorities to arrest Chopra for trying to link the two drives, this prompted the authorities to register cases against him.

Aman Chopra has also been criticized in the past for taking bold stands on challenging topics. Shadab Chauhan, the chief spokesperson of the Peace Party, also threatened Aman Chopra with dire consequences in January after he weighed in on the threat received by journalist Ashok Shrivastav from Arun Rajbhar, the National General Secretary of the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP), an ally of Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party.

Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan also threatened Chopra simply because he was unable to answer the questions posed to him.

Meanwhile, Alwar district administration has agreed to rebuild the 3 temples demolished during the demolition drive in Rajgarh.

Talk show host Boria Majumdar to face two years ban as BCCI finds him guilty of intimidating Wriddhiman Saha over interview

As per reports, the Board of Cricket Council in India (BCCI) is intending to ban talk show host and sports journalist, Boria Majumdar, for two years after a three-member BCCI committee found him guilty of harassing Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha over an interview request.

The committee examined the incident and concluded Majumdar guilty and as a result, he would be barred from visiting stadiums or meeting players in India for at least two years.

This follows after Wriddhiman Saha took to Twitter in February of this year to post a screenshot of threatening messages received by him from an unnamed journalist requesting an interview and then humiliating him for not responding. In the post, Saha wrote, “After all of my contributions to Indian cricket..this is what I face from a so called “Respected” journalist! This is where the journalism has gone.”

Saha received widespread sympathy from the cricketing community following his disclosure. After which, taking note of the social media post, the BCCI appointed a committee comprised of vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and apex council member Prabhtej Bhatia to investigate Saha’s claim. However, Majumdar had accused Saha of “altering” WhatsApp message screenshots.

During his testimony before the committee, Saha named Boria Majumdar and said that he was “bullied” for an interview.

On the condition of anonymity, a top BCCI official informed The Sunday Express that the Indian cricket board will advise all state units that Boria Majumdar is not to be allowed inside stadiums. He will not be granted media credentials for home matches, and the board will write to the ICC to have him blacklisted. Players also will not be allowed to interact with him.
