Tension in Aurangabad following death of salon owner Feroz Khan after he was hit by cops for keeping shop open violating Covid-19 norms

0

A salon owner named Feroz Khan in Maharashtra’s Aurangabad died after being allegedly assaulted by two police officers for not following COVID-19 guidelines. The death of the 50-year-old, allegedly in the hands of the police officers, triggered tension in the area.

Khan’s outraged relatives along with other people gathered in large numbers with the dead body of the deceased at Osmanpura police station, demanding action against the cops. This has compelled the Aurangabad police commissioner to order the transfer of the two officers in question and order an impartial probe into the incident.

Aurangabad salon owner Feroz Khan hit for not following COVID-19 guidelines

In what transpired, Feroz Khan kept his salon open in violation with the COVID-19 restrictions out in place amid the rising cases in Maharashtra. According to Khan’s relatives and staffs, sub-inspector Pravin Wagh and constable Sandeep Bharme assaulted him over the alleged violation.

During the ruckus, the salon owner fell on the shutter of the salon and lost consciousness. He was rushed to a government hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Khan’s relatives brought his body to the Osmanpura police station and demanded registration of a murder case against the two policemen. As the news of the incident spread, more people from different parts of the city started accumulating outside Osmanpura police station demanding action against the cops. They demanded that the officers be charged with murder and terminated for service.

The salon owner’s relatives and staff claimed that when the two policemen saw the salon open, they called Khan out. After that, they began assaulting Khan for not adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines. The people said that the entire incident was caught on the CCTV camera installed at the salon as well as the neighbouring shops.

“During the brawl, Feroz Khan fell on his shop’s shutter and sustained a head injury. He was dashed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he was declared brought dead”, informed one of the deceased’s family members.

As the news of the incident spread, Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel and police commissioner Nikhil Gupta reached Osmanpura police station and pacified the enraged mob. Taking cognisance of the incident, Nikhil Gupta immediately transferred the two officers to the control room. Gupta assured inquiry into the death of the salon owner and ordered crime branch inspector Avinash Aghav to carry out an impartial probe of the case.

Maharastra imposes curfew-like restrictions to control the rising cases of COVID-19 in the state

Maharashtra has been grappling with the rising coronavirus cases in the state. To deal with the second wave of the infection, which has wreaked havoc particularly in the state of Maharashtra, contributing the highest to the daily caseload, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Tuesday announced curfew-like restrictions on the movement of people in the state.

Thackeray, in his virtual address to the public, announced new prohibitory orders under Section 144 in the state from 8 pm on April 14 which will remain in force until May 1.

All establishments, public spaces, activities and services will remain closed. Only essential services will remain open between 7 am and 8 pm on working days. Restaurants can operate but only for deliveries. Shooting for films, serials and advertisements will remain closed, and only 25 people will be allowed at marriages.

As ESPN goes for gender-neutral terms, here is how Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals match commentary may read like

On April 15, ESPN CricInfo decided to go woke and do away with terms that identify players by their gender to make it a more ‘inclusive’ game even if all players playing that particular game are of the same gender. While it appeared like a comic-relief in times of pandemic, ESPN meant it in all seriousness. The following shows what the future of commentary (or is it compersontary now?) looks like:

Welcome to the 7th match of the Global Premier League (linking a cricket tournament involving players from around the world to one country gives rise to toxic nationalism so we have decided to replace Indian from the name) between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.

Before we begin our coverage, it is important to remember that everyone is a winner, so the result of the match is totally irrelevant.

Now then, people’s representatives (because Captain represents a figure of authority and can give rise to authoritarianism, we have decided to stop using that term) from Rajasthan and Delhi are out in the middle with the coin to check what does the coin want (toss is an offensive term as it is linked to throwing someone up in the air and hurting them).

To aid the 2 people’s representatives in their quest, there is a public service official (calling an individual referee implies he has the power to make all decisions in case of a dispute, only a people’s court can be the true referee, hence we refrain from using that term).

Ideally, all 11 players from each team should have been out there to see the coin’s choice, to promote inclusiveness, but Cricket hasn’t yet reached the 21st Century.

So the 2 people’s representatives, Rishabh and Sanju are ready (we can’t spell out their full names as it can give rise to religious and caste issues if people find out about their full names, we will only work on a first name basis from now on). Using a coin to decide how the match will begin is a little bit too capitalist, going forward, teams should be allowed to bat or bowl based on their feelings.

If they feel they want to bat first, they should be allowed to do so, and if they feel they want to bowl first, they should do the same. If both teams feel the same way, then there is no way to distinguish between them, and everyone should be declared the winner.

Anyway, moving on with the coin’s choice, it is Sanju sending the coin on its journey, and Rishabh calls Heads, which is a little bit problematic. Just because the head is higher than a tail in any animal, it shows Rishabh’s preference for the higher classes, and ignores the lower classes completely. Rishabh needs to curb his capitalist tendencies if he wants to become a good cricketer.

The coin lands on Heads – of course it does, the coin is anyways a product of capitalism – and Rishabh decides to bat first.

Our algorithm has found out that our commentary is approaching 500 words, where we must take a commercial break, though we take this break to be inclusive to people who have short attention span. Our commentary will be back on a new page when the match begins.

Thanks for reading, people.

Dr Ambedkar had wanted Sanskrit as the official language of India, says CJI Bobde

0

April 14th marked the 130th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Remembering BR Ambedkar on this day, CJI Bobde remarked that Ambedkar had proposed Sanskrit as the official language of India however, the move did not make any headway.

The CJI was called upon by the Maharashtra National Law University at Nagpur to deliver a speech at the inaugural ceremony of the academic building.

CJI Bobde began his speech by expressing his quandary to decide which language to deliver his speech in. “This dilemma is being witnessed in our country for a long time. I have seen this question cropping up frequently as to which language should the courts function in. We have High Courts with the official language as English and Hindi. Some want Tamil, some others want Telugu. I want to humbly submit that nobody is paying attention to this subject,” he said.

Dr Ambedkar thought that Sanskrit will be accepted by all Indians: CJI Bobde

He further stated that Ambedkar was of the opinion that Tamil won’t be accepted in north India and Hindi won’t be accepted in south India. Suggesting that Ambedkar believed Sanskrit is the only language that won’t be opposed in either north India or south India, he said, “Dr Ambedkar had proposed for formulating ‘Sanskrit’ as the official national language. It had signatures of some mullahs, pandits and priests and of Dr Ambedkar himself.”

“Ambedkar wasn’t an expert in only law but was seized of what was going on socially and politically too. He knew what people wanted, what the poor wanted. That’s why, I think, he had thought of this proposal. But finally, English was made the official language. So with your permission, this being the national law university, I will speak in English,” CJI Bobde remarked before continuing his speech in English.

The CJI also congratulated the university for introducing a course in ‘Nyaya Shastra’ and exclaimed, “there is no reason why we should not benefit from the geniuses of our ancestors.” Regarding Nyaya Shastra at par with Aristotelian and Persian system of logic, he said, “The Indian judiciary draws its jurisprudence from the Anglo-Saxon model which is based on Aristotelian and Persian logic. When I read about Nyaya Shastra, I found that it is not a bit inferior to the Aristotelian system.”

The event was also attended by the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Deepankar Dutta and Supreme Court Judge Justice Bhushan Gavai whereas Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray joined the program online.

Majnu Ka Tila: Kejriwal govt abandons destitute Pakistani Hindu refugee, ‘Seva Bharati’ provides helping hand

Everyone around is facing the heat of Wuhan coronavirus. In such a situation, OpIndia visited Majnu Ka Tila to find out how Pakistani Hindu Refugees are managing in this tough time and what problems are they facing. We tried to find out if someone helped them out in a time of crisis and how they are managing their lives, especially in Delhi under the terrible time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hindu refugees from Pakistan searching for a ray of hope at Majnu ka Tila

There are some organisations that have been standing resolute with these families in their time of need. During the conversation with OpIndia, the refugee families discussed their problems, struggles, challenges and how they have been facing them. However, they also said that they have not received any help from the AAP government.

Seva Bharti extended a helping hand during Covid

There are 150 families living in the refugee camp. Most of them are living in tough conditions, and their helplessness was visible in the way they were trying to survive. OpIndia spoke to Dharamveer Solanki, head of the refugee camp. He shifted to India in 2013 along with his family on the pretext of pilgrimage to India from Pakistan. He said the pandemic is testing their will to a large extend. However, the people from RSS and Seva Bharti helped them from the beginning and continued to provide support even during the pandemic.

When he shifted from Pakistan and got his papers from the government, the struggle begun from the very first day, he started working as labour, hoping that he would become an Indian citizen someday. When CAA was announced, he was happy, but due to pandemic, it has been postponed as well. He added that due to Covid-19, people are not ready to give them work that has increased their problems.

RSS and Seva Bharati are providing a helping hand for the Gaushala as well. RSS activists often come and help them continuously, the refugee families told. When we asked if the Kejriwal government provided any help, he said that no one from his government visited before the pandemic; how can they expect Kejriwal to take heed during the pandemic. He said some people from the Kejriwal government visited Majnu Ka Tila around 5-6 years ago, but since then, no one has visited them.

Seva Bharti provides help for the ill

He further added that Seva Bharti and RSS people come to serve them as soon as they come to know that someone is ill. They bring vehicles and take the patient to the hospital to get the treatment done. They provided fodder for the cows worth Rs.50,000. A lot of masks, medicines and ration have been distributed here by the people of RSS and Seva Bharti.

When OpIndia talked to Sona Das, another refugee in the camp, he told how people from RSS and Vishwa Hindu Parishad often visit to help them. They arrange work for them by setting up shops, and during Covid time, it was them who helped instead of the government.

Sona Das talked about the difficulties | A woman trying to meet the needs

He said the people of RSS and its service wing Seva Bharti are engaged in ‘seva’ selflessly. When OpIndia was reporting from there, an RSS worker visited with cattle fodder for Gaushala. When we asked him to talk on camera, he said his work is to provide ‘Seva’s, and if we want a statement, we should talk to Seva Bharti in charge of the region.

RSS and Seva Bharti’s other ventures during Covid

Seva Bharti and RSS have helped not only Hindu refugees but everyone in need during the pandemic. Around 250 people of 50 families belonging to the Zomi Church in Hastasal Nagar, West Delhi, were facing difficulty in arranging ration and food items. Most of these families are from North-East, especially from Mizoram. When Seva Bharti came to know about it, they provided ration and other daily essentials.

RSS also announced monetary help for Corona warriors, including cleaners, health workers and journalists, for doing their duty in such adverse conditions. The organizations had said that if any non-government sweeper, health worker (contracted) or journalist is facing a difficult time due to Covid-19, they will provide help.

They provided support to those who were stranded on bus stations or railway stations. They also provided ration to 986 women living in Redlight area of Delhi. Care was given to those who were on the streets and often failed to get help from the government.

ESPN goes woke, to include gender-neutral cricket terms ‘batter’ instead of ‘batsman’ and ‘Player of The Match’

Sreshth Shah, a writer and correspondent for ESPN Cricinfo has announced that the portal will henceforth use only gender neutral terms in cricket matches, on-site coverage and during their coverage too.

For example, the term ‘Batsman’ will be replaced with ‘Batter’, and ‘Man of the Match’ will now be ‘Player of The Match’.

Twitter users, however, responded in kind to the woke, gender-neutral announcement with very creative suggestions.

A Twitter handle named ikjasho asked why ESPN is offending bats by using the term ‘Batter’. Indeed, cricketing terms and tools should not be offensive to specific animals, especially the ones that are connected with the Wuhan.., sorry, city/country-unspecific Coronavirus.

Twitter users are so woke that no amount of wokeness displayed by ESPN can out-woke them. ‘Eminent Intellectual’ condemned the half-woke decision and demanded that cricket can not be fully gender neutral until they change the highly toxic shape of bats, stumps and balls, all asserting toxic masculinity and inspired by male genitalia.

‘Netaji’ pointed out how most cricketing terms are toxic and un-woke. He suggested a few more changes, like changing ‘Straight Drive’ (highly toxic, homophobic term) to ‘Non-binary Pansexual Drive’.

There are Twitter users pointing out that there are different teams for women and men, and women’s cricket already uses terms like ‘Woman of The Match’ and ‘Batswoman’, but true wokeness dictates that women-specific terms are as toxic as men-specific terms. Only Gender-neutrality can save this toxic, heterosexual world.

TMC’s Mahua Moitra claims wishing Hindus on Hindu new year is ‘radicalisation’

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Thursday claimed that the BJP wishing Hindus on the new year is ‘radicalisation’.

Mahua Moitra’s tweet

Vikram Samvat 2078, the new year as per Hindu calendar began on 1st day of Chaitra Navratri on 12th April 2021. A lot of Hindus celebrate the new year which begins on the first day of Chaitra month. Similarly, a lot of Hindus, especially in Gujarat, celebrate their new year which begins on the first day of Kartik month, a day after Diwali. Hence, different communities within Hinduism celebrate different days of the year as new year. Similarly, in different parts of India, the Hindu calendar months also vary. While in some parts of the country it is Chaitra, in some, Vaishakha has also begun today (which is new year for people in Bengal, Assam and Tripura).

However, this seems to have triggered Moitra, who was upset that the BJP was wishing the Hindus for their new year. So much that she called the wishes as ‘radicalisation’.

Making it all about the Bengalis, she claimed that the greetings for new year in West Bengal and Bangladesh is ‘Poila Baisakh’ and not ‘Hindu new year’ (since West Bengal and Bangladesh have similar cultures and Bangladesh is an Islamic country).

Netizens took it upon themselves to school Moitra on celebrating the Hindu new year is not really ‘radicalisation’ as she believes it is.

Some even explained that while people in Bangladesh also celebrate Poila Baishakh, it is actually Hindus who celebrate it as such.

Many even called out her ignorance on Hinduism.

While Moitra wanted to paint everyone who was celebrating the Hindu new year as ‘radical’, the hate for Hindus was actually more evident in her tweet.

Congress ally who wanted 50 crore Indians to die from ‘Allah’s virus’, claims it was Mamata who ruined ‘Hindu-Muslim bhaichara’

Peerzada Abbasuddin Siddique, Congress ally and a Muslim preacher of Furfura sharif who got 30 seats to contest in 294-seat West Bengal Assembly elections, has blamed WB CM Mamata Banerjee for ruining ‘Hindu-Muslim brotherhood’. In a conversation with The Hindu, Abbas claimed that it was the West Bengal administration under Banerjee who stalled the Durga Visarjan because of Muharram. “Who demanded this?” he asked.

Money Banerjee gave to Imams came from Waqf property

In the interview with The Hindu, Abbas Siddique claimed that Banerjee’s government announced that they would give Rs.2,500/- to Imams, but they never told that the money came from Waqf property. “When the ground shifted, you (Trinamool) said you would give money to temple priests too,” he added. Abbas said Muslims only wanted what was their right and guaranteed by Constitution. “The biggest loss because of all this kind of politics has been that the brotherhood and amity between communities have got affected,” he claimed.

BJP flourished during Banerjee’s tenure

Blaming Banerjee for BJP’s rise in West Bengal, Abbas said that during the Vajpayee government, Banerjee was Railways Minister. When she became Chief Minister of West Bengal, BJP gained strength in the state. It was her who has ushered in the BJP in West Bengal, Abbas claimed.

Banerjee refused to form an alliance

Abbas claimed that he entered politics not just for the concerns of the Muslim community, but he wanted to raise a voice for the poor and the dispossessed who were cheated by the political formations. Interestingly, some time ago, Abbas had wished for the death of 50 crore Hindus.

On February 26 last year, when the world was just grappling with the news of the coming pandemic, Abbas had said, “Recently I have got the news that mosques are being set on fire, mosques are being burnt for the last two days. I think something is going to happen within a month. May Allah accept our prayers. May Allah send such a terrible virus to India that ten to twenty to fifty crore people die in India. Am I saying something wrong? It is absolutely blissful.”

Abbas claimed that when he formed the ‘Indian Secular Front’ and showed interest to contest elections, Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress refused to form an alliance. It was Left and Congress that showed interest in allying and agreed to his terms. His alliance with Congress-Left front in the elections is expected to hurt Trinamool Congress’s Muslim voters, especially in five districts, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South Parganas, part of East Midnapore and Nadia.

Political opposition amid pandemic has become so devoid of humanity that Modi haters now want Gujaratis dead

At the beginning of pandemic last year, when we were just trying to figure out what is this monster China has unleashed on us, many of us thought that we will all emerge from this nightmare a little bit kinder, nicer and overall better humans. A year later, as the virus goes unhinged, there are people who are celebrating the death. If you are a Gujarati, especially, you deserve to die.

Just one army veteran hating on Gujaratis

Here is one Rajendra Bhaduri. He wears a uniform in his profile picture, signifying at one point he vowed to protect Indians. But here he is, celebrating the grim situation of Chinese coronavirus in Gujarat as a ‘vengeance’. Just how much do you hate Narendra Modi and Amit Shah that you cheer for the death of Gujaratis as ‘revenge’.

As a COVID positive person myself and as a primary caregiver for two COVID positive patients at home, who is struggling the guilt of ‘bringing virus home’, that I have not used expletives while writing this speaks a lot about my restrain. Rajendra Bhaduri, how do you live with yourself?

What is worse is that Bhaduri here is not an exception but the rule when it comes to Modi haters who’d rather have Gujaratis dead if it shows Modi as a failure. Here are some more examples:

Congress being its usual self

Here is the primary opposition party, whose man-child of a leader thinks he deserves to be Prime Minister only because his father, grandmother and great grandfather were one. Why does Congress hate us Gujaratis so much? Is it because Gujaratis have not voted the party to power in over two decades? Yes, so people are dying, the administration is struggling as it is everywhere across India. But we will not forget that you danced on dead bodies of Gujaratis amid the raging pandemic.

Gujarati ‘satirist’ mocking ‘Gujarat model’

One of the most misplaced sense of importance some people have is that they are ‘speaking truth to power’ and hence as ‘brave’. Urvish Kothari is one such satirist. He writes columns for vernacular newspaper Gujarat Samachar. When the Islamic terrorist attacked CRPF convoy in Pulwama in February 2019 because he wanted to kill those who ‘drink cow urine’, Gujarat Samachar thought invoking ‘How’s the josh’ catch phrase to question the government was a good move. Islamists were using the phrase to celebrate the Pulwama attack.

“How is the josh”

The reference to the film Uri, which was on surgical strikes India carried out to avenge the Uri attacks, Gujarat Samachar mocked the government, which has been using the catchphrase while interacting with citizens lately. The phrase ‘how is the josh’ was not used by citizens to question the government, but it is actually used by jihadis to celebrate the Pulwama attack. Sometimes, terrorist sympathisers masquerading as mediapersons also use it to cheer for terrorists.

So when a columnist associated with this piece of hatred mocks ‘Gujarat model’ while his fellow brethren are suffering, it just shows that they are not questioning the administration for struggling healthcare but are just scoring a political point. Your hatred for Modi is being masqueraded as ‘anguish’ for the suffering of Gujaratis and no one is buying this bullsh*t accept fellow haters like yourself.

But you know what? Gujarat and Gujaratis will come out victorious. We are way more resilient. The ‘Gujarat model’ you are mocking worked not because Modi brought it with him, but he just managed to highlight it. Gujarat, a state with all adversities in terms of resources, has managed to not only survive but thrive. We will emerge stronger from this pandemic too. We will continue to provide medicines, essential anti viral drugs as well as oxygen across India and beyond.

You lowlives can continue to wallow in the shallowness of your own thoughts. Because whether you like it or not, Gujarat model is here to stay.

Chhattisgarh: Families of deceased COVID-19 patients will now have to pay Rs. 2,500 for “storage” and “carriage” of the bodies

In midst of a massive surge in Coronavirus cases, the Chhattisgarh State government has notified a new rule which will surely test the patience of people. According to the order of the Congress govt in the state, the family members of any person who dies of COVID-19 will have to pay Rs. 2,500 in order to secure the “storage” and the “carriage” of the lifeless body.

This order has already been implemented by the Under Secretary of Chhattisgarh’s Department of Health and facing strong backlash from both the local people and the BJP. The BJP has protested to the Governor against this order from the Chhattisgarh government.

On Monday, the Chhattisgarh Government had ordered NABH-accredited private hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients in a “moderate” condition at a fixed rate of Rs. 6,200 per day. This 6,200 cost includes supportive care, isolation bed, oxygen, and PPE kits.

It is worth noting that the Chhattisgarh Government has fixed rates for treatment of COVID-19 patients amidst complaints of private hospitals charging arbitrary amounts of money for Coronavirus care.

In an April 11 meeting, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel directed the Health Department officials to set up new rates for treatment of COVID-19. After this, new rates were implemented by the Health Department for patients suffering from the Coronavirus.

According to the new fixed rates released by the Health Department, a fee of Rs. 12,000 has been fixed daily for the treatment of patients in critical condition. This includes an ICU facility without a ventilator. A rate of 17,000 rupees per day has been fixed for the treatment of very serious COVID-19 patients. This includes the ICU facility with a ventilator.

A fee of Rs 6200, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 14,000 has been fixed for the treatment of moderate, severe, and very serious patients in private hospitals not recognized by the government. This decision is considered to be a relief move amidst an increasing number of patients suffering from COVID-19. This will prevent any illegal recovery of money from patients in private hospitals in the name of COVID-19 treatment.

CNN hoped for higher Covid-19 death toll, hyped pandemic deaths to improve ratings, technical director admits in Project Veritas leak

US journalism venture Project Veritas has made a series of exposes of the CNN news network in the USA. CNN Technical Director Charlie Chester went on five Tinder dates with a Project Veritas agent where he made a series of shocking revelations.

After the ‘first part’ of the release which showed Chester admitting that CNN ran a dedicated propaganda campaign against then US President Donald Trump, another video has been released where the technical director admits that the news network hyped up the Covid-19 death figures and hoped for more deaths to drive up its ratings.

In the latest video, Charlie Chester says, “Sad news doesn’t do well with ratings. You know, like if you can get someone impassioned, that does really well with ratings. Sad news back-to-back-to-back, doesn’t do really well, unless it affects them directly.”

“Covid? Gangbusters with ratings, right? Which is why we constantly have the (Covid) death toll on the side. Which I have a major problem with how we’re tallying how many die every day. Because I’ve even looked at it and been like, look at it and be like, let’s make it higher. Like why isn’t it high enough, you know, today? Like it would make our point better if it was higher,” he said.

Charlie Chester continued, “And I’m like, what am I f**king rallying for? That’s a problem that we’re doing that. You know?” He claims to have been told by a head of the network, “There’s nothing that you’re doing right now that makes me want to stick. Put the numbers back up, because that’s the most enticing thing that we had. So put it back up.”

The technical director also admits that there is nothing such as unbiased news “It just doesn’t exist,” he said. He also says CNN provides a platform to only those people who will peddle the narrative the network wants them to peddle.
