Jagdeep Dhankhar Tweeted that Mamata Banerjee’s remark “outrages the essence and sublimity of Bengal’s rich culture” and asked her to “engage in deep reflection and apologetically withdraw the video comment”.

Speaking at a rally, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that as BJP leaders have no other work, sometimes their chief ministers visit West Bengal, sometimes it is home minister Amit Shah who visits the state, and sometimes some ‘Chadda Madda Fadda Bhadda Nadda’ is here.

Moreover, the West Bengal governor also Tweeted his concerns over the alarmingly grim situation of law and order in the state. West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar also sent his report to the Union Home Ministry on the attack and said the security was inadequate for the convoy. The Governor’s report to Centre mentions lack of adequate security for JP Nadda and other BJP leaders in Bengal when they were attacked on Thursday. The Governor’s Secretariat has said there were inadequate security arrangements at the time.

MHA summons Chief Secretary of state and DGP to discuss the state’s law and order situation

According to the latest information, the Union Home Ministry has also summoned Mamata Banerjee’s Chief Secretary and the state DGP to discuss the state’s law and order situation on December 14. West Bengal Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay and Director General of Police (DGP) Virendra have been called by the home ministry.

In the report, Bengal Governor Dhankar has said the local police should have strictly followed the security protocol and during Thursday’s incident, the protocols were ignored.

The information of the national president’s programme was already given to the local police, but there was not enough security, said the Governor’s report.

He has further said that the Bengal DGP and Chief Secretary have been instructed to take quick action against the accused in this regard.

BJP writes to HMO alleging security lapse during BJP chief JP Nadda’s visit to West Bengal

The decision came after West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleging security lapses during party national president J P Nadda’s ongoing tour of the state.

Ghosh, in his letter, claimed that the West Bengal “police allowed a mob of around 200 people, carrying bamboo sticks, to raise slogans, demonstrate and show black flags to Nadda” during his programme on Wednesday in Hastings area of the city.

According to Ghosh, the police failed to provide a smooth passage to Nadda’s convoy, when it was moving around in the city.

JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoy attacked

Earlier on Thursday, stones were hurled at JP Nadda and Kailash Vijayvargiya’s convoy, as the two leaders were en route Diamond Harbour on Thursday. Videos had surfaced on social media in which protestors carrying Trinamool Congress flags are seen throwing stones and bricks at Kailash Vijayvargiya’s car, while the state police stand like mute spectators. The attackers threw bricks that resulted in windshields cracking and severe damage to the cars in which they were travelling.

The Congress party has been actively milking the ongoing farmer protests to peddle its falsehoods and turn the supposedly ‘organic’ agitation into a mass movement. However, in an attempt to do so, the grand old party has now exposed its own failures in bringing prosperity in the lives of farmers.

On Friday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP and tweeted, “Farmers (across India) want to have their income at par with that of farmers in Punjab. However, the Modi government wants farmers to have their income as low as that of farmers in Bihar.” The Congress Vice-President, who wanted to take potshots at the current political dispensation, ended up scoring a self-goal.

It is important to point out that the data is based on the Situation Assessment Survey of Agricultural Household, conducted between January to December 2013. “How much do farmers earn? An average Indian farming household earns ₹77,124 in a year, translating to ₹6,427 monthly, barely enough to cover the monthly expenditure of ₹6223. That leaves negligible savings in hand,” the infographic tweeted by Rahul Gandhi stated.

Interestingly, back in 2013, it was the Congress-led UPA government which was in power and had the legislative power to improve the lives of the farmers in Bihar. The answer, for the disparity in income between a farmer in Punjab and that of a farmer in Bihar, must therefore be sought from the Congress party and not the BJP. In a bid to target the BJP for the party’s own failure in ensuring increased farmer income, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi ended up scoring a self-goal.

Coincidentally, the infographic, based on obsolete data, was tweeted yesterday by ‘journalist’ and Congress loyalist Rajdeep Sardesai. “How much do our farmers earn? Here is a chart that gives you state-wise figures.. offered without comment!” he had tweeted. And a day later, the Rahul Gandhi had decided to repost it, without realising that the political implications of it. As expected, it backfired on the Congress leader.

The Union government, passed the historic farm laws, to provide farmers with the flexibility to choose where they want to sell their produce. The newly enacted laws are designed to help farmers receive a fair price for their crops while ending the monopoly of the commission agents and the middlemen. Had the Congress party implemented the farm laws in 2013 itself, it would have provided significant relief to farmers in Bihar.

Bihar has seen highest growth in agriculture sector

While Bihar farmers earned much less in 2013 compared to other states, the farm productivity in the state has improved a lot after that, especially after APMC Act was repealed in the state by Nitish Kumar government. Between 2011-12 and 2018-19, India’s agriculture growth rate was 7.5 per cent while it was 13.3 per cent in Bihar, almost double.

Earlier, between 2005-06 and 2014-15, Bihar’s agricultural growth was 4.7 per cent while India’s agriculture sector grew by 3.6 per cent. In the same period, Punjab’s agricultural growth rate was only 1.61 per cent.

Congress party’s U-turn on farm laws

The Congress party, which is now vocal against the farm laws, had earlier supported the idea of private investment in agriculture sector and ending the monopoly of the APMC markets.

A report from 2010 titled, “Report of the Working Group on Agriculture Production” had earlier come to light wherein former Congress CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda was seen advocating the same ideas, as espoused by the BJP now. “It is surprising but true that farmers have hardly any choice in marketing their produce,” the report stated. It emphasised that farmers are dependent on ‘regulated mandis’ which act as ‘monopoly institutions’ for the sale of the produce. He pointed out that since Mandis was regulated by the government, private investment for storage and transportation of crops was scarce. 

In an old interview with NDTV, the NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, who was the then agriculture Minister under UPA regime, was seen explaining how he believed that encouraging private players in the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) can benefit farmers. He had conceded that until private players are encouraged to work in the APMC sector, the government will not provide any financial support to the states.

Congress party behind anti-farm law agitation, says BJP

As per reports, the BJP has accused the Congress and the commission agents of provoking the farmers for their ulterior motives. BJP leader and spokesperson for economic affairs, Gopal Krishna Agarwal added that the efforts of the government were being marred by a motivated campaign of opposition parties and commission agents.

Agarwal said that the new farm laws had threatened the control of commission agents over the markets and that they were therefore spreading rumours, surrounding the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and the ‘abolishment’ of the Mandi system, with the support of the Congress party. He had also questioned the timing of the renewed protests. Agarwal said that questions surrounding the agricultural laws were addressed in June itself. He added that the resurgence of the agitation in November implied that the farmers had been provoked and misled.

The year is 2020 and we have elected representatives in the Indian Parliament giving voice to ideas that would spell the doom of Parliamentary Democracy in the country. Mahua Moitra, who fancies herself as the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of India, suggested on Wednesday that street power was more important than having a majority in the Parliament.

The message that Mahua Moitra, Lok Sabha MP from the Trinamool Congress, is conveying is quite clear. The strength in the Parliament does not matter, elections do not matter, even voting does not. What matters is the capability of community or interest groups to hold the state ransom in order to ensure that legislations are passed in their favour. If legislations are going to be decided on the streets, then what is even the point of holding elections?

The sentiments expressed by Mahua Moitra also indicate that she, like most liberals, are not averse to using street power in order to secure their demands. And that perhaps explains some of the grouse that certain sections of the Indian Right have towards Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, because at the end of the day, with his manner of protests that involved the extensive use of Hindu imagery and symbolism and pacifist inclinations robbed Hindus of the will to exercise power on the streets while the avenue was left open for all other interest groups.

Liberals eulogise Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi all the time and yet, they hardly ever practice what he preached. Gandhi’s politics was geared towards securing compromises and workable deals, even when the opposition was not worthy of it, and he never embraced maximalist or extreme positions or drove hard negotiations. The liberal faction pays lip service to Gandhi but when it comes to pushing their agenda, Gandhi is the last person in their minds.

Conversely, however, Gandhi is invoked every time during attempts to defuse Hindu concerns regarding particular legislations. His overarching pacifism has proven to be the bane of Hindu politics as he practised his politics under the garb of Hinduism. Let’s be clear, pacifism is not a core ideal of Hindu Dharma but due to Gandhi, it has become one of the cornerstones of the manner in which Hindu centric politics is conducted.

Thus, the grouse that certain ‘communal Hindus’ have towards Gandhi is completely justified. Here we have a situation where Mahua Moitra, an elected representative of the Parliament, openly declaring that the Parliament is an irrelevant institution and encouraging anarchy on the streets. And yet, the pacifist tendencies that have been incorporated into Indian politics since independence has led to a situation where anarchists are given the liberty to basically run amok on the streets.

We cannot, of course, accuse Mahua Moitra of being too intelligent but surely, even she possesses the intellect required to understand the full implications of her declarations. It is precisely why we had said earlier that the NDA Government at the centre cannot afford to bend the knee to the unruly protesters demonstrating against the newly passed farm laws.

Should the central government concede to the demands of the protesters and repeal the laws, it will embolden every section of society to impose their will on the state by holding it ransom. The consequence would be absolute anarchy. Khalistanis, Islamists, ‘Urban Naxals’, everyone would come crawling out of the woodwork after being emboldened by this victory.

As an institution, the Parliament would be rendered meaningless and Parliamentary Democracy itself will be under threat. The pacifism of the kind Gandhi espoused is good for rhetorical purposes but would spell the death knell for a nation. The government must hold its forte and ensure that such tactics do not taste success. That is the only way to ensure that Parliamentary Democracy continues to function as it should in India.

Shehla Rashid’s father gets 10 crores defamation notice after alleging his daughter’s collusion with anti-India forces

Abdul Rashid Shora, the “biological father” of JNU activist Shehla Rashid, who had recently alleged that his daughter has been colluding with anti-India forces and getting paid for it, has been sent a defamation notice for Rs 10 crores by a Kashmiri businessman and politician Feroz Pirzada.

Shora, in a letter to the J and K DGP, had claimed threat to his life and had alleged that Shehla took 3 Crores in cash to join Kashmir centric politics from ‘notorious people’. Shora had added that Shehla had mysterious financial dealings with Feroz Peerzada, Kashmiri businessman Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali and Rasheed Engineer, an ex-MLA.

As per a report in Amar Ujala, the defamation notice has been sent by Feroz Pirzada, a businessman and the former leader of J and K People’s Movement. A report in Amar Ujala states that the 4-page defamation notice, sent by Peerzada’s lawyer, says that his clients business interests and social standing has been damaged by Shora’s statements.

The notice further states that Pirzada had resigned from the JKPM on November 30 due to ‘personal reasons’ and he does not know arrested businessman Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali. It adds that Pirzada has met NIA accused Rasheed Engineer on two occasions. In a media interview, Pirzada had stated that he had never met or seen Shehla’s father.

Privada has claimed that the allegations levelled by Shora are wrong and he had never done any ‘financial dealings’ with Shehla Rashid. The defamation notice states that if Abdul Rashid Shora does not pay Rs 10 crores to Pirzada within a week, they will be forced to initiate legal action agaonst him.

Shora’s claims and Shehla’s counter-allegations

It is notable here that both Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali and Rasheed Engineer have been arrested by the NIA for alleged seditious activities and terror funding. Shora had alleged that Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali and Rasheed Engineer had paid Shehla Rs 3 crores to start the J and K People’s Movement with former IAS officer Shah Faesal.

Shehla had refuted her father’s claims and had called her father a ‘wife beater’. She had alleged that her father has a domestic violence case against his and is levelling baseless allegations against her.

Shah Faesal was kept under preventive detention last year after the abrogation of Article 370. The political party, though launched with much fanfare, had failed to take off and had not participated in elections. Peerzada had shared the stage with Shehla and Faesal at the much-publicised launch event of the party.

A neighbour of Arvind Kejriwal has now reportedly approached Delhi High Court against Delhi Police for allowing mayors and councillors sit on dharna outside the chief minister’s house, demanding that the Delhi government clears its dues to the municipal corporations.

The plea states that “mayors and councillors of municipal corporations are sitting outside the CM’s residence on Flag Staff Road and have blocked the public road once again obstructing free movement of residents. The protesters have, therefore, flagrantly violated the directions passed by this honourable court”.

The petitioner cited the Delhi court’s orders against JNU students who obstructed administrative work. They have also cited the order where the Court restrained Delhi Vidyut Board Employees Union and its members from holding any dharna or demonstration within 500 metres of any offices of BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd.

Reportedly, the Single Bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva heard the plea filed by Civil Lines Residents Association thereby issued notice to the Delhi Police chief and the chief secretary, for their reply.

However, strangely the petition does not mention the dharna by AAP members, who were sitting outside the Chief Minister’s house protesting against an imaginary house arrest of Arvind Kejriwal by the Delhi Police.

In a strange turn of events, on the 8th of December, members of Aam Aadmi Party had sat on a dharna outside their chief Arvind Kejriwal’s house because they alleged that he had been put under unofficial house arrest by the Delhi Police. This claim was, of course, proved to be imaginary since videos emerged of him moving around freely while claiming that he was locked up in the house. Now, the neighbour of Arvind Kejriwal has moved Delhi High Court, complaining against the disruption being caused by AAP members sitting on dharna outside Kejriwal’s house.

While the petition cites the dharna by councillors and mayors, who are demanding that the dues be cleared by the AAP government, it fails to mention the other drama that unfolded outside the CM’s residence.

Why are councillors and mayors protesting outside the residence of Arvind Kejriwal?

Mayors and other senior leaders of the BJP-led three municipal corporations have been protesting outside the residence of Arvind Kejriwal for four consecutive days demanding that the AAP government in Delhi clears the dues payable to the municipal corporations.

The three mayors have claimed that Rs 13,000 crore in total is due to the North, South and East corporations from the Delhi government. On Thursday, North Delhi Mayor Jai Prakash, South Delhi Mayor Anamika and East Delhi Mayor Nirmal Jain held a joint press conference at the sit-in site and said the protest “will continue democratically so that we can pay salaries to corporation employees on time”.

“It is not our personal fight, but a fight for the rights of the corporation employees who provide basic amenities to the Delhiites,” the mayors said in a joint statement issued by the Delhi BJP. The protest has now been done only now. Even in earlier in October, the three mayors had protested outside the residence of Arvind Kejriwal for the same demand.

Mayor Jai Prakash has said that back in October, on behalf of CM Arvind Kejriwal, his minister Satyendar Jain had assured that the dues would be released within 10 days, however, that promise has not been kept. The Mayors said that this time, they will not end their dharna until dues are cleared.

Uttar Pradesh police have taken to Twitter to call out media reports which have claimed that the cops stopped a Muslim couple from getting married based on ‘rumours of love jihad’. Sharing a screenshot of a news report published by The Indian Express, the Kushinagar police Tweeted that the accusations meted out at them by the media outlet are baseless. It said that it had only acted on a missing complaint lodged by the brides’ family.

Kushinagar police clarified that the girl’s family had filed a complaint against the youth, accusing him of kidnapping the girl. Acting on the complaint, police brought the couple to the police station for questioning. The girls’ family at Azamgarh district was informed and the girl was subsequently handed over to her family members, Tweeted Kushinagar police.

The police were responding to a report by The Indian Express, which accused the Uttar Pradesh police of stopping a wedding ceremony of a Muslim couple on Tuesday following a phone call claiming that a Muslim man was marrying a Hindu woman after converting her, letting them go only the next day after finding that both were Muslims. The report titled “‘Love jihad’ rumour: Wedding stopped in UP, Muslim couple kept overnight at police station”, also said that 39-year-old Haider Ali had alleged that the police personnel beat him up with a leather belt and tortured him for hours at the Kasya Police Station.

This report was also carried by many other mainstream media outlets. The ultra-leftist news portal The Wire went a step ahead to claim that the Uttar Pradesh police were misusing the “controversial new anti-conversion law”. The Wire also quoted The Indian Express to claim that “Kasya Police Station SHO Sanjay Kumar told Indian Express that “miscreants” were to blame, and that the couple was let go after the police realised they were from the same religion”.

Similarly, other left-leaning anti-Hindu media outlets like The Logical Indian and Times Now also picked up the news accusing Uttar Pradesh police of forcefully stopping the wedding of a Muslim couple based over “suspicion of love jihad”. They too alleged that the groom was tortured and beaten up in the lock-up by police personnel. A claim which the Kushinagar police vociferously denied.

Instead, only a handful of protesters demanding the release of Urban Naxal Father Stan Swamy, an 83-year-old priest from Jharkhand, whom the demonstrators claimed is “unjustly” imprisoned in Mumbai, were present at the venue, befuddled to find the Indian embassy turned into a fortress.

Pro-Khalistani group SFJ calls for shutting down of Indian diplomatic missions

The Pro-Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) on Monday had threatened that they would close down the Indian diplomatic missions in London, Birmingham, Frankfurt, Vancouver, Toronto, Washington DC, San Francisco and New York on December 10 through cars, tractors and truck rallies.

Earlier, the top SFJ functionary Gurpatwant Singh Pannun blustered that the pro-Khalistani group will “shut down” the Indian diplomatic mission in various countries on Thursday, December 10, in solidarity with the farmers’ protest continuing in India.

However, the protest planned by the US-based Khalistani group turned out to be a damp squib than what was boasted by the Khalistani supporters who had participated in a protest march organised by the Federation of Sikh Organizations(FSO) on Sunday. FSO is a known front of Babbar Khalsa, a Sikh extremist organisation.

The flop show of Khalistani protest rally to shut down the London embassy was in stark contrast to the “Kisan Rally” organised by the FSO. While the December 10 rally turned out to be a “no-show”, more than 3,500 to 4,000 people gathered in front of the high commission on December 6 for a “Kisan rally”, brazenly flouting social distancing norms during a pandemic.

NIA files charge-sheet against 16 Khalistani terrorists operating from foreign soil

Following SFJ’s call for shutting down of Indian embassies in foreign countries, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) tightened its noose around the Khalistani group and filed a charge-sheet on Wednesday against 16 accused associated with the terrorist organisation Sikh for Justice (SFJ) in Referendum-2020.

According to the reports, the NIA filed a charge-sheet in a special court in Delhi against 16 Khalistani terrorists, who currently operate from foreign soil in connection with plotting conspiracy against India by launching a concerted secessionist campaign under the banner of ‘Referendum 2020’ for creation of ‘Khalistan’.

Khalistani involvement in the ongoing farmers’ protests in India

It is pertinent to note that while the representatives of the farmers’ protests have been vehemently denying the involvement of Khalistani elements in the ongoing protests, supporters swearing their allegiance to the Sikh extremist ideology, in India and outside, have extended their support to the chaos and disorder that has characterised the farmers’ protests.

On several instances during the blockades, Khalistani slogans were raised by the demonstrators and posters of Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale were held. Many demonstrators also gloated upon the death of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by the Khalistani assassins and threatened PM Modi with a similar fate if he doesn’t fulfil their demands.

Just days before the mass inoculation of Russian Covid-19 vaccine ‘Sputnik V’ is stated to begin, Russian health officials have warned their citizens against the use of alcohol for at least two months after taking the vaccine shot.

According to the reports, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatiana Golikova recently at an interview urged all Russians to be extra cautious during the 42 days for the Sputnik V vaccine to be effective.

“Russians will have to refrain from visiting crowded places, wear face masks, use sanitizers, minimise contacts and refrain from drinking alcohol or taking immunosuppressant drugs,” Golikova said in an interview.

Similarly, echoing similar warning, Anna Popova — the head of Russia’s consumer safety watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor told to the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio station that people should stop drinking for 42 days after receiving the first of the two injections. She also asked them to abstain from alcohol for at least two weeks before getting their vaccine shot.

Meanwhile, the warning has not gone down well with the Russians, who contend the request of staying away from alcohol is unreasonable. Some believe that such warning would dissuade people from getting the vaccine.

According to the World Health Organisation, Russia is the fourth-largest consumer of alcohol per person in the world. An average Russian consumes about 15.1 litres of alcohol every year, as per a report in Livemint.

Vaccine developer down plays warning, says avoid alcohol for three days

Amidst the warning from Russian health authorities, Sputnik V vaccine’s developer, Alexander Gintsburg played down the warning, saying, “One glass of champagne won’t hurt anyone, not even your immune system”.

However, Gintsburg said it was important to avoid alcohol three days before and after the two injections. He added that the advice would apply for all Covid-19 vaccines and not just the Russian Sputnik V.

The health experts in the United Kingdom, the only country where a mass vaccination program is underway, suggests that nothing has been proven on the effect of alcohol on vaccine so far. The spokesperson for pharmaceutical company Pfizer, the developer of the vaccine currently being inoculated in the UK, confirmed that they have not received any warning about alcohol consumption affecting the efficacy of the injection.

Most health experts around the world also believe that there is little evidence to show that alcohol consumption could interfere with a person’s immune response after getting vaccinated against Covid-19.

In a new development, the police have charged 32 men for over 150 sexual offences against 8 underage teenage girls in West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. Grooming Jihad had emerged as a major crime cluster in the UK where Muslim men were sexually abusing and ‘grooming’ young white girls. The current case also pertains to Grooming Jihad that has emerged as a global problem.

The crimes were committed between 1999 and 2012 against the victims, who were aged between 13-16 years in the Kirklees, Bradford and Wakefield areas. Reportedly, several such victims were subjected to heinous crime even after they turned adults.

A majority of the accused hail from Batley and Dewsbury areas in the United Kingdom. They have been charged for serious sexual offences including rape, indecent assault, sexual activity with a child, trafficking, abetment of rape, conspiracy to rape, making indecent photos of children, and possession of extreme porn.

Grooming Jihad accused out on bail, to appear before Court between December 11 and 14

All of the accused have been out on bail and are scheduled to appear before the Kirkless Magistrate Court between December 11-14. The accused men include Asif Ali (50), Amer Ali Hussain (42), Sarfraz Miraf (45), Nazam Hussain (43), Moshin Nadat (35), Mohammed Nazam Nasser (35), Jabbar Qayum (39), Mohammed Tauseef Hanif (36), Zafar Qayum (41).

The list also includes Sarkaut Yasen (35), Mohammed Imran Zada (41), Shakil Daji (41), Ebrahim Pandor (41), Ebrahim Pandor (41), Amran Mehrban (37), Saleem Mohammed Nasir (44), Ali Hussain Shah (35), and Michael Birkenshaw (34).

Nearly 19,000 children sexually abused in England in 2018-2019

According to the official figures, it is being estimated that nearly 19,000 minors in England were sexually groomed in England in the last year, reported Dailymail. The local authorities in England have identified around 18,700 suspected victims in 2018-19, up from 3,300 five years ago. The latest figures showed a sharp increase in the number of child grooming victims over the last five years.

The highest rates of child grooming victims in Britain was reported in areas including Birmingham, Lancashire and Bradford. A spokesman for the Home Office said the department ‘is committed to tackling child sexual abuse and will leave no stone unturned in tackling this abhorrent behaviour’. Speaking to the media, Sarah Champion, the Labour MP for Rotherham, said that figures show this type of exploitation ‘remains one of the largest forms of child abuse in the country’

Grooming Jihad in the UK

Grooming Gangs are mostly made up of Muslim men in the UK, who prey on young girls and even women, identify their vulnerability and rape them repeatedly as a punishment for being non-Muslim. Several people in the UK have termed this ‘Rape Jihad’ even though the authorities in the UK refused to act decisively against these gangs for fear of allegations of being racist. 

In his book, ‘Easy Meat’, Peter McLoughlin records that Sikh groups were aware of the phenomenon and were trying to warn everyone before anyone else. Even last year, when Labour MP Sarah Champion was fired from Jeremy Corbyn’s shadow cabinet for calling out the ethnicity of the rapists and alleging that there had been attempts to cover it up for far too long. Hindu and Sikh organizations had commended the MP and the states that Hindu and Sikh girls were raped and groomed by the gangs for decades. Thus, calling the groups and the rapists “Asian” is a gross affront towards Hindus and Sikhs who have also suffered as a consequence of the authorities’ hesitation towards tackling the crime.

According to a study by the Sikh Mediation and Rehabilitation Team charity, Pakistani men have been grooming Sikh girls in Britain for decades for sexual abuse and rape. The study also claims that the Police ‘recklessly ignored’ complaints about reasons of ‘political correctness’.The report was accessed by Daily Mail. It says, “The research has found verification demonstrating a history of predominantly Pakistani grooming gangs targeting young Sikh females for over 50 years.” It also asserts, “The over-representation of such perpetrators in selecting non-Muslim victims would appear to be indicative of a wider acceptability in certain sections of the community towards the targeting of young females from outside of the Pakistani community and/or Muslim faith.”

The report says that the failure of local authorities to recognize the menace has allowed such networks to flourish. It says, “Over the course of three decades, Sikh community leaders in the West Midlands repeatedly assert that when families or community representatives contacted the police regarding the abuse of children, their information was consistently met with disinterest and their claims met by inaction.” And “With the emergence of multiple similar cases across the UK, the perceived failure to act has now been attributed to the ‘political correctness’ that inhibited authorities and agencies from addressing the racial and cultural dimensions understood as causative factors behind the abuse.”

According to the report authorised by Greater Manchester mayor Andy Burnham to investigate the historic failings of police and social workers, a paedophile network of about 100 suspected assaulters is accused of exploiting 57 young girls in south Manchester in the 2000s. The report states that the gang primarily consisted of Asian men, who hooked their victims on drugs, primed, and sexually abused them. One girl, aged 15, died after being injected with heroin by a 50-year-old man. The report, which was published after a two-year enquiry, stated that vulnerable girls in care were groomed and abused in “plain sight”.

The report was a scathing indictment of the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) which is believed to have been biased in tackling grooming gangs comprised of predominantly Asian Muslim men. Stating that “fears over race relations” ran high, it stated that the GMP and city council shelved an investigation because officers were wary of “many sensitive community issues” around enforcing the law in south Manchester in 2002 and 2003.

The Detective Superintendent, while submitting his findings to the report panel, claimed that though his investigative decisions were not influenced by the concerns about inciting community tensions, the senior officers in the gold command group were of the opinion that the impact had to be “clearly considered”

After spearheading a witch-hunt against Republic TV chief Arnab Goswami by reopening a closed case, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on Thursday displayed his newfound sympathies towards alleged Urban Naxal Gautham Navlakha.

‘Urban Naxal’ Gautam Navlakha has been arrested for plotting to not only assassinate Prime Minister but also instigating violence at Bhima Koregaon and aiding Left-wing terrorism.

On Thursday, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was quick to order a probe over allegations that the Taloja jail authorities allegedly denied a pair of spectacles sent to the accused Gautam Navlakha by his family after an earlier pair was ‘stolen’. Ordering a probe into the incident, the ‘compassionate’ Home Minister said that the situation should have been handled more “sensitively”.

“Bhima-Koregaon case accused Gautam Navlakha denied spectacles by jail authorities as they refused to accept a parcel sent by his family. I have ordered an inquiry in this matter. I believe this situation should have been handled humanely and such incidents need to be avoided in future,” Deshmukh said.

Urban Naxal’s family allege that his spectacles were stolen inside jail

The Minister also added that if the family has sent his spectacles, he should be given those. “We need to handle these things more sensitively”, he added.

The statements made by Home Minister Anil Deshmukh comes after Navlakha’s partner Sahba Hussain had alleged that Navlakha’s spectacles were stolen inside the jail and that prison authorities did not permit a new pair sent by his family. The family has claimed that Navlakha is “almost blind” without the spectacles.

Following the allegations, the Bombay High Court had heard the matter of the alleged theft of Navlakha’s spectacles inside the prison and called for the need to conduct a workshop for jail officials to sensitise them on the needs of prisoners.

Maha govt carries out a witch-hunt against journalists, sheds tear for Naxal-terror accused

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh’s glaring display of championing the cause of ‘human rights’ of a Naxal-terror accused comes just weeks after Maharashtra government’s witch-hunt against Republic TV chief Arnab Goswami.

Arnab Goswami, who had posed tough questions to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra over its reluctance to carry out a fair probe in Palghar Hindu Sadhus lynching case and the alleged suicide case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, had to suffer the wrath of the state government.

The Maharashtra government had unleashed its vendetta against Arnab Goswami by re-opening a 2018 suicide case that was already closed. On the behest of its political masters, the Mumbai Police had arrested Arnab Goswami by dragging from his house in Mumbai. However, after spending harsh custodial torture, Arnab Goswami was granted bail from the Supreme Court.

The SC had also stated that the case made against Arnab by the state government had no grounds for arrest and custodial interrogation, as abetment of suicide was not established. The case was that of the alleged suicide of a Architect Anvay Naik over non-payment of dues by some firms. Republic TV’s parent company ARG Media Outliers had already clarified that the major chunk of the amount was already paid and the deceased had no direct interaction with Goswami.
