Ahead of peace talks, Afghanistan assembly approves release of 400 Islamic terrorists of Taliban

0

The grand assembly of Afghanistan – the Loya Jirga on Sunday approved the release of 400 hard-core Taliban prisoners as a goodwill gesture ahead of the beginning of peace talks with Islamic terrorist group Taliban intending to end the country’s worst civil war that has been going on for more than 19 years.

According to the reports, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani had convened the assembly in the capital Kabul, in which some 3,200 Afghan community leaders and politicians had gathered to advise the government on whether the prisoners should be freed.

“In order to remove an obstacle, allow the start of the peace process and an end of bloodshed, the Loya Jirga approves the release of 400 Taliban,” the assembly said in a resolution. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said, “Today, I will sign the release order of these 400 prisoners.”

A loya jirga is a special type of legal assembly, that brings together representatives from the various ethnic, religious, and tribal communities in Afghanistan. It is a highly respected centuries-old consultative body, which is considered the highest expression of the Afghan people.

Earlier, the Taliban terrorists had asserted that the release of these terrorists was a necessary pre-condition for entering peace talks with the government. With the release, the Afghan government will fulfil its pledge to release 5,000 Taliban prisoners.

Reportedly, the talks between the warring parties will start in Doha this week.

Meanwhile, the proposition of Afghanistan government releasing the last batch of Taliban prisoners, who are accused of carrying out some of the bloodiest attacks across Afghanistan, had triggered massive outrage among civilians and rights groups who questioned the morality of the peace process.

US President intends to achieve peace process by 2020 elections

However, ahead of November elections, US President Donald Trump is determined to achieve the peace process and fulfil one of his major campaign promise of ending America’s longest war in Afghanistan.

Once both the parties agree to a peace deal, the US forces will be brought down to “a number less than 5,000”, as said by Defence secretary Mark Esper on Saturday.

In a February pact allowing for the withdrawal of US troops, the US government and the Taliban had agreed on the release of the Taliban prisoners as a condition for the talks with Kabul.

Reports claim Sushant Singh Rajput’s former manager Disha Salian’s post-mortem report says she was found nude after her death, Mumbai police deny the reports

A new sensational fact has come to light in the case of mysterious death of Disha Salian, the former manager of Sushant Singh Rajput. Disha’s death has been claimed as suicide by Mumbai police, but it has been alleged that she was murdered and her case has link with the similar mysterious death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

According to the post mortem report of Disha Salian, her body was found nude, which was not revealed by the police so far. The report accessed by Republic TV shows that Disha Salian didn’t have clothes on her body when she was found dead after falling from the 14th floor of a building.

Screenshot from Republic TV showing Disha Salian’s post-mortem report

Under the heading ‘Sex, apparent age, race or cast. Description of clothes and of ornaments on the body’, the report states ‘Female, 28 years, nude body’.

In the next section on Condition of clothes – whether wet with water, stained with blood or soiled with vomit or feccal matter, the report again says ‘Nude body’.

This revelation has raised questions over the claim of Mumbai police that Disha had committed suicide, as it is unlikely that someone will remove all the clothes from body before jumping from 14th floor to commit suicide. This gives credence to the theory that Disha was raped and murdered.

Another disturbing fact that has emerged is that Disha Salian’s post-mortem was conducted two days after her death. While she had died on the night of 8-9 June, documents show that the post-mortem was done on 11th June.

It may be noted after Mumbai Police’s role in investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput death case was questioned by multiple quarters, the case was handed over to the CBI by the union govt on the request of Bihar Police. Now, similar demands to hand over Disha’s cases also to CBI has emerged after the post-mortem report came to light.

Mumbai police denies report

A day after the media reports claimed that Disha’s body was found without clothes, Mumbai police denied the reports. An official of the Mumbai police that the report is false, and added that Mumbai police had done a panchnama after reaching the spot. He also said that Disha’s parents were present at the spot.

The officer further added that the Mumbai police has the pictures of Disha’s dead body with her clothes on. These pictures will be produced in front of the authorities whenever required.

While Mumbai police have denied the naked body report, according to a report by India TV, they have decided to reopen the Disha Salian’s death case after new allegations surfaced over her death.

After Pakistan threatens to split Saudi Arabia led OIC for not discussing Kashmir, Saudi govt decides not to renew oil supply pact with Pakistan

0

Saudi Arabia has decided not to renew an agreement with Pakistan that allowed the supply of crude oil to Pakistan on deferred payments. The agreement expired two months ago. As per the agreement, there was a provision of oil worth $3.2 billion on deferred payments per annum. The Express Tribune Pakistan reported that the renewal agreement is still pending. The development came after Pakistan had threatened to split the OIC, (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) headed by Saudi Arabia.

China helped Pakistan to pay back $1 billion to Saudi Arabia

Recently, Pakistan also paid back $1 billion Saudi loans with the help of China four months ahead of the repayment period. The agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan had a provision of renewal for two more years. Still, Saudi seems to have decided not to go ahead with the renewal as it stopped oil supply in May itself.

The Pakistan government was hoping to get at least $1 billion worth of oil this fiscal year that started in July. The oil ministry of Pakistan said that they are still waiting for a reply of the Saudi Arabian government over the renewal.

Pakistan had threatened to split the OIC

A few days ago, Pakistan had expressed displeasure over the refusal of Saudi Arabia led OIC to hold a meeting on Kashmir on its request. Pakistan has been asking the OIC, the biggest bloc of Islamic countries in the world, to hold a meeting of the foreign ministers of the member nations to discuss Kashmir.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said to a TV channel, “I am once again respectfully telling OIC that a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers is our expectation.” After that he had added, “If you cannot convene it, then I’ll be compelled to ask Prime Minister Imran Khan to call a meeting of the Islamic countries that are ready to stand with us on the issue of Kashmir”, which basically meant threatening to form a separate group of Islamic countries.

Despite Pakistan’s repeated requests, OIC has refusing to discuss the issue of Kashmir, reflecting the goodwill the Modi govt has earned among the Arab countries.

Pakistan and it’s terrible luck in procuring oil from Arab countries

In 2018, United Arab Emirates had announced a $6.2 billion package for Pakistan. It included the $3.2 billion oil facility. However, later UAE reduced the financial assistance to $2 billion and cancelled the plan to provide $3.2 billion worth oil facility on deferred payments. Then in February 2019, when the Saudi crown prince visited Islamabad, the two countries signed an agreement that allowed Pakistan import of petroleum products, crude oil and LNG from Saudi Arabia under a financial package.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain blames outsiders for rising cases of Coronavirus in the National Capital

0

The Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc in the National Capital Delhi with a surge of 1404 fresh new cases and 16 fatalities on Saturday. As such, the total tally has surpassed 1,44,127 in Delhi. Reportedly, there are 10,688 active cases of Coronavirus in the State/Union territory and a total of 4,098 deaths.

The outbreak of the Chinese virus in Delhi was drastic before Union Home Minister took control of the situation. State Health Minister Satyendra Jain had claimed on June 10 that the number of active cases would increase by 30,000 in the following 12 to 15 days. He had informed then that there would be an additional requirement of 15000 beds by the end of the month.

Amit Shah fixed the ‘Delhi mess’

Keeping in mind the grim situation, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had assumed the charge to contain the spread of the deadly virus. In early July, it was reported that Delhi had witnessed a steep decline in the number of Coronavirus cases. Reportedly, there has been a surge in RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Tets since June 18. Between June 24 and July 2, the active cases had come down from 23.8% to 11.39%. The number of new cases did not surpass the 3000 mark between June 27 and July 3.

Blames “outsiders’ for rising cases

However, since the number of Coronavirus cases is again on the rise in Delhi, health minister Satyendra Jain chose to shift the blame on the outsiders instead of taking up the responsibility. Speaking to ANI, he concluded that the reason for the enhancement in the number of active cases was due to people from outside Delhi who were being tested in the National Capital.

“Here are reports that #COVID19 cases are increasing in Delhi, the reason for this is that many people from outside Delhi are getting their tests done here. Hence, counting of positive cases is rising here. Otherwise, the trend of COVID19 cases in Delhi is decreasing,” he was quoted as saying.

Satyendra Jain has expressed disdain for outsiders in the past

Earlier, the Delhi Health Minister pointed out how residents of Delhi needed more hospital beds to brazenly justify the government’s contentious decision to bar non-residents of Delhi from availing treatment in private and state-run hospitals. “Our neigbouring states have said they have a few Coronavirus cases. So, what’s the problem (about our decision)?” he enquired. In a bid to pass on the buck to the Central Government, Jain blamed the Centre for not canceling international flights at the right time.

Rapper Badshah confesses to having paid Rs 75 lakh for fake views and likes of his videos: Report

Two days after Bollywood rapper-songwriter Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia, alias Badshah was summoned by the Mumbai Crime Branch for questioning regarding the fake social media followers case, he has confessed to the police that he had paid Rs 75 lakh to enhance views on social media platforms.

According to the reports, the Mumbai Police said that rapper Badshah had paid Rs 75 lakh for additional views on one of his music videos, in a bid to break a viewership record. The singer is currently being questioned in connection with fake followers racket, which sells fake followers and views to social media influencers.

The Mumbai Police said that during questioning, Badshah confessed that he had purchased around views for Rs 75 lakh, in order to set a world record for most YouTube views in the first 24 hours. The singer had claimed that the music video for ‘Pagal Hai’ had been watched 75 million times in the first day of its release, beating other previous records.

He was questioned again on Saturday by Mumbai Police and will be summoned again on Sunday for other related aspects of the probe.

On Thursday, he was reportedly summoned by the Mumbai police crime branch in connection to the fake followers scam. Badshah is the first Bollywood celebrity who has been summoned by law enforcement in connection to the scam. Reportedly, there has been a drastic rise in the number of Badshah’s un-followers.

Meanwhile, Badshah and his team have categorically denied the charges. The singer has claimed that he has never been involved in such practices and is cooperating with Mumbai Police.

Fake followers scam

The Mumbai Police had last month unearthed the fake-followers scam after discovering that a number of celebrities had ‘bought’ fake followers. A racket was burst in which they unearthed more than 50 companies that were involved in selling social media followers, likes and comments.

On 14th July, Central Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the crime branch had arrested one Abhishek Davade who provide such services. The 21-year-old service provider was using bots or fake profiles to increase engagement of his clients. To provide such services, Davade was using more than 170 accounts in which he allegedly added more than five lakh followers to make them look genuine.

Was Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh thrashed by Dalit Morcha of AAP, asks BJP leader Kapil Mishra

BJP leader Kapil Mishra has questioned AAP spokesperson Sanjay Singh whether he was thrashed by the Salit karyakartas of the latter’s party. Mishra’s comment comes at a time when the Rajya Sabha MP from the AAP has been leading a spirited effort to brand the BJP ‘anti-Dalit’.

Tweet by Kapil Mishra

Kapil Mishra said, “The Dalit karyakartas of AAP called and said that last night, people from the SC Morcha of AAP thrashed Sanjay Singh and blackened his face. Is it true?” He said that the Dalits were asking angrily, “Why isn’t the Deputy Chief Minister (of Delhi) a Dalit? Why isn’t there a Dalit in the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the party? Why wasn’t a Dalit sent to the Rajya Sabha?”

Sanjay Singh has been on a crusade recently in an attempt to portray the BJP as ‘anti-Dalit’. In a recent comment on social media, he said, “Why was the President not invited for Ram Mandir) Bhoomi Pujan? Is it because he is Dalit?”

Sanjay Singh also claimed to have received a phone call from a Dalit leader who remarked that President Kovind was Dalit and was not invited to the Ram Mandir Bhoomi Pujan ceremony. In the same tweet, the AAP Rajya Sabha MP also claimed that he was told by the Dalit leader that Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya was not invited to the ceremony, insinuating that Maurya is a Dalit. In reality, he is an OBC in UP.

Sanjay Singh then suggested that the BJP wants to keep Dalits out of Temples. However, reality is starkly different. Kameshwar Chaupal, a Dalit, is in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust and will oversee the management of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Furthermore, the first family to receive prasad from the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony was Dalit. Soil from Dalit Temples were also collected for the same. Despite all of this, politicians such as Sanjay Singh are working overtime to divide the Hindu community along caste lines.

Rajasthan: 11 Pakistani Hindu refugees including five children die in Jodhpur

According to the reports, 11 Pakistani refugees, six adults and five children, living in Jodhpur from the same family have been found dead on Sunday. They were working as farm tenants. The police believe that they died due to poisonous gas, but the exact reason is unclear. Some reports are suggesting that one of the family members who came for Rakshabandhan injected everyone with poison before killing herself. Dechu Police is trying to find the exact reason for the deaths.

The unclear reason of death

The incident took place in the Lodta area of Dechu Police station. Hanumanaram, Station in-charge of the area reached the location to investigate the case. Prima facie, it seems that the family members died due to poisonous gas or by eating something poisonous. All the family members were refugees from Pakistan. According to Navbharat Times, some unnamed sources suggested that a sister of this family came here to celebrate Rakshabandhan. She works as a nurse. She might be behind the deaths of the family members.

One family member was found alive as he slept next to tubewell in the farm. When he came back, he saw that his whole family has died. Police have barricaded the area, and they have called a forensic team to assist in the investigation. The family member who stayed at tubewell during the night is also a potential suspect.

Times Now report suggests that it could also be a case of mass suicide. The site where the deaths took place reportedly smells of pesticide.

Large number of refugees living in villages alongside border

There are a large number of refugees living in the villages alongside Pakistan border. Some communities comprise of refugees only. The police are taking all the necessary steps to finish the investigation quickly. The family had reportedly taken refuge in India in 2012 from Pakistan’s Sindh province and was in the process of getting citizenship of India. Only one family member managed to survive as he was not home last night.

Kakori Train Robbery: On this day in 1925 one of the most landmark events of Indian independence movement took place

Even 95 years after the Kakori Train Robbery – one of the landmark events of the Indian independence movement, the memories of it are still etched on every Indian’s heart.

The Kakori Train Robbery also known as the Kakori conspiracy was an armed robbery which took place on August 9, 1925, on a train in central Uttar Pradesh and the subsequent court trial instituted by the government of British India against more than 20 Indian revolutionaries accused of involvement, directly or indirectly, in the brave act.

The revolutionaries were the members of the newly formed Hindustan Republican Association, a revolutionary organisation, which was later renamed as Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. The mission of revolutionary organisation was to liberate India from British colonial rule through a revolution which included armed rebellion.

The Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) was formed in October 1924 by a youth group of the Indian National Congress, who were disgruntled over Mahatma Gandhi’s sudden call to stop the non-cooperation movement.

The primary objective of the Kakori Conspiracy was to gain funds for the HRA by taking the money from the British Administration by force. The other objective of the HRA was to create a positive image of the HRA among Indians by attacking a high profile British government target with minimum collateral damage.

The Kakori robbery was planned by Revolutionaries – Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqullah Khan. It was executed by Bismil, Khan, Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajendra Lahiri, Shachindra Bakshi, Keshab Chakravarty, Murari Lal Khanna(Gupta), Banwari Lal, Mukundi Lal Gupta and Manmathnath Gupta.

On 8 August 1925, the decision to rob the government treasury to buy arms was taken at an HRA meeting. The next day on August 9, the revolutionaries stopped the Number 8 down train near Kakori travelling from Saharanpur to Lucknow and looted Rs. 8000 from the guard cabin. The particular train was supposedly carrying money-bags belonging to the British Government Treasury.

The target was a guard cabin, which carried money collected from various railway stations to be deposited in Lucknow. Though no passengers were targeted by the revolutionaries, one passenger named Ahmed Ali was killed in the crossfire between the guards and revolutionaries. This made it a manslaughter case. After the incident, most of the revolutionaries fled to Lucknow.

Following the robbery, the British Administration launched a manhunt to arrest all the revolutionaries. A month after the attack, more than two dozen HRA members were arrested. The British authorities arrested more than 40 people for conceiving and executing the conspiracy.

On September 26, 1925, Ram Prasad Bismil was arrested by the British police. A year later, other masterminds behind the train robbery Ashfaqullah Khan and Shachindra Bakshi were also arrested.

The revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad, who could not be captured by the British, later reorganized the HRA and ran the organization till 1931. He shot himself after being grievously injured and down to his last bullet at Alfred Park, now known as Chandrashekhar Azad Park, during a shootout with the police on 27 February 1931.

Kakori Conspiracy Case

The trial on the Kakori conspiracy case started in Lucknow on 21 May 1926 against 28 active members of the Hindustan Republican Association. Interestingly, the public prosecutor for the British Crown was Pandit Jagat Narayan Mulla, who had refused to defend the revolutionaries. He was very close to Motilal Nehru, Jawaharlal Nehru’s father. Mulla also was not quite fond of Ram Prasad Bismil since 1916 ever since he led the procession of Bal Gangadhar Tilak at Lucknow. He was appointed the public prosecutor.

The final verdict of the Kakori Kand was pronounced in July 1927. Around 15 people were let off by the court for lack of evidence. Five people escaped during the trial. The court awarded death sentences to Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaq Ullah Khan, Thakur Roshan Sing and Rajendra Lahiri.

Sachindra Bakshi and Shachindra Nath Sanyal were sentenced to deportation to Cellular Jail in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The others were sentenced to varying lengths of imprisonment – Manmath Nath Gupta was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment. Revolutionaries such as Ram Krishna Khatri, Mukundi Lal, Raj Kumar Singh, Govind Charan Kar and Yogesh Chandra Chatterjee were all sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Suresh Charan Bhattacharya and Vishnu Sharan Dublish were jailed for seven years. Prem Krishna Sharma and Bhupen Nath Sanyal were imprisoned for five years, while Keshab Chakravarthy was sentenced to four years in jail.

The revolutionaries, who were sent to different jails to serve their punishments, undertook hunger strikes protesting against the jail conditions and also demanding political prisoner-status for them.

The death sentences to the four revolutionaries evoked strong protest in the country. However, the colonial government was unwilling to reconsider. The four death sentences were carried out between 17 to 19 December 1927.

“Delete the video or there will be negative consequences,” Chinese embassy threatens India based strategic affairs portal over a critical video on Xi Jinping

Days after a news portal named ‘Strat News Global’ drew parallels between Chinese Premier Xi Jinping and German Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, the Chinese Embassy to India had sought to intimidate the news Editor of the portal, Nitin A Gokhale.

On August 1, the Strat News Global published a video on Youtube wherein they pointed out the uncanny resemblance in the dealings and expansionist policies of both the leaders. The video highlighted how both Hitler and Xi rose to prominence with the promise of rejuvenating the ‘lost glory of their respective countries’, economic revivalism, the militarisation of foreign and illegally annexed territories, elimination of political opponents and critics, institutional control, press censorship, armed proliferation, expansionism, breach of treaties and so on.

Chinese Embassy intimidates Strat News Global with dire ‘consequences’

The Chinese authorities were irked with the portrayal of Xi Jinping in a ‘negative light’. On Monday, Ji Rong, the spokesperson of the Chinese embassy in India, launched a tirade against Nitin Gokhale during a phone conversation. “We are shocked. Please delete the video immediately… This is a sensitive matter concerning our leader (Xi Jinping) and you must not spoil relationships… Your credibility is at stake,” she insisted.

However, the Editor of Strat News Global refused to budge. He turned down the recommendation of the Chinese spokesperson to delete the said video. Nitin Gokhale, who is also a well-known defence analyst, however, offered to provide a space to the Chinese authorities to refute the claims made by the news portal in the video comparing the Communist leader Xi with the erstwhile Nazi leader Hitler. According to him, Ji Rong declined his offer and instead claimed that the video is beyond the ‘acceptance’ of the Chinese regime.

“Delete the video or there will be negative consequences,” the Chinese spokesperson warned. When Nitin asked her about the ‘consequences’, she toned down her aggression and reiterated that the video is not acceptable and pestered him to delete the video. She then informed the Editor of Strat News Global that she would discuss the issue with the higher authorities. When Ji Rong did not get back to him, he contacted his colleague to inquire about any incoming letter from the Chinese authorities.

According to Nitin, the Chinese spokesperson forwarded him a Whatsapp message that cautioned of ‘serious consequences’ and demanded the ‘deletion’ of the video. As emphasised by him earlier, Nitin said that deleting the video was not an option and that the offer for a counter-argument to be published on the website was available. “I had to break the cardinal rule of revealing the negative conversation (between me and Ji Rong)… This needs to be highlighted to the world how aggressive and brazen Chinese behaviour have been globally and in India, especially in light of the current border standoff,” Nitin highlighted.

Chinese Embassy ‘unhappy’ with German Tabloid

Earlier, Germany’s largest Tabloid ‘Bild’ had put together a bill of £130 billion to be paid by China to Germany for economic damages caused due to the outbreak of the Wuhan Coronavirus. Bild created an itemised invoice that included Germany’s lost tourism revenue (€ 27 billion), loss to small businesses (€ 50 billion), loss to the German film industry (€ 7.2 billion), and loss to Lufthansa airlines (€ 1 million/hour). The total bill to be paid by China thus amounted to a total of € 149 billion (£130 billion).

The newspaper further stated that China owed £1,550 per person in Germany, assuming that there would be a shortfall of 4.2% in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) due to the pandemic. China accused the German Tabloid of stirring up “xenophobia and nationalism.” Julian Reichelt, the Editor-in-Chief of Bild, alleged that the Chinese Embassy in Berlin had written him an open letter as they were unhappy about their Coronavirus coverage.

Julian rebuked, “Your embassy tells me that I am not living up to the traditional friendship of our peoples. I suppose you consider it a great friendship when you now generously send masks around the world. This isn’t friendship, I would call it imperialism that is hidden behind a smile – a Trojan Horse.”
