Actor Gurmeet Choudhary, who played Lord Ram in TV series, to open 1000 bed hospitals in Patna and Lucknow

Actor Gurmeet Choudhary, who played the role of Lord Ram in popular TV series Ramayan, took to Twitter to announce that he will be opening a 1,000 bed super modern hospital in Patna and Lucknow.

He added that he will follow it up with other cities.

Earlier in January, he had taken to social media to say that he will be making a generous contribution for the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

“You must have seen me in the character of Lord Ram and in different other characters but I truly believe that whatever I have achieved in life is due to Him. ‘Ramayan’ was my first ever serial on TV and I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. And I want to share something beautiful with you today,” the actor said in the video.

Choudhary has also been active on social media helping people in distress arranging for oxygen and other crucial medicines needed for coronavirus patients.

Gurmeet Choudhary had played the role of Lord Ram in the hugely popular show ‘Ramayan’ in Imagine TV which started in 2008. Actress Debina Bonnerjee had played the role of Maa Sita. Gurmeet and Debina got married in 2011.

From calling COVID pandemic a hoax to sharing unrelated image of burning pyres to panic mongering: Here are some tweets Govt of India got removed

While the world battles the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, we in India have our own set of demons to fight. Many social media influencers, including former journalists, filmmakers and even doctors have taken to social media in the past few days to misuse this opportunity to panic monger and stoke communal tensions.

In response to it, the Government of India on Saturday asked Twitter to remove such problematic posts from its platform, lest it lead to a dangerous situation.

While the leftist media has cried foul and claimed that the govt of India trying to stop them from spreading dangerous misinformation is an attack on their freedom of speech, the truth is far from it. Here are some of the sample tweets and social media posts that were asked to be removed.

Filmmaker Avinash Das, who directed Swara Bhaskar starrer Anarkali of Arrah, shared an old, unrelated video of patients and claimed it was from Gujarat.

Avinash Das’ tweet

Mocking the Gujarat model, Das claimed that the above image was from Tapi district in Gujarat where patients were being treated in tents. However, this image was from Navapur, Maharashtra.

Navapur video

As can be seen, the above video is from Navapur, Maharashtra and not Gujarat.

Since the filmmaker shared a fake image, his tweet was asked to be removed as it may have led to panic and fear amongst Gujarat residents, especially Tapi district.

Avinash Das’ tweet removed

Similarly, filmmaker Vinod Kapri, too, shared an unrelated video of a funeral pyre and claimed that every house has become a cremation ground.

Kapri’s tweet

Vinod Kapri was earlier accused by his colleague of faking an adoption story of a girl child for self promotion and marketing of his film. In April 2020, at the beginning of pandemic, he was found spreading falsehoods regarding availability of PPE kits and protective gear.

Kapri’s tweet removed

His tweet now stands removed.

Kafeel Khan, a controversial doctor who is an accused in the Gorakhpur tragedy, shared an unrelated image of funeral pyres as well. He appears to have deleted his tweet.

Kafeel Khan’s tweet

Political activist Hansraj Meena on 12th April 2021 tweeted that all through the coronavirus pandemic, neither did he buy a mask or has he worn one. “In one year, I have been to 30 big cities across the country. I am not afraid of this stupid illness. Nor do I scare my people or make them appear cowards,” he tweeted claiming that coronavirus is a conspiracy.

Hansraj Meena’s and his supporters’ tweets

The hashtag was trending on Twitter with thousands of tweets and retweets. More and more people joined in to claim that coronavirus is a conspiracy. One Twitter user Masoom Kaify claimed that coronavirus may be a conspiracy to bring down human population and was deliberately spread.

‘Coronavirus is a conspiracy’ tweet

Similarly, one Twitter user K S Siddiqui claimed that neither has he followed any rule and neither has anyone he knows has ever heard of this illness called ‘coronavirus’. “I have heard it only in TV,” he tweeted adding that Coronavirus is a conspiracy.

One more person tagging Hansraj Meena had questioned the need of coronavirus vaccine while claiming coronavirus is a conspiracy. Thus, quite clearly, the Government of India asked Twitter to remove the tweets for spreading misinformation.

Twitter had earlier adopted an abrasive stance during the farmer protests saying that they won’t remove tweets which could create a law and order situation in the country. The Indian Government was not pleased with the stance and made it clear that the social media platform had to obey domestic laws.

Since then, Twitter appears to have softened its stand.

No mask, no social distancing: Punjab Congress MLA seen dancing at a party flouting all Covid-19 norms

0

Punjab Congress MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal was seen in a video dancing at a private party amid the coronavirus pandemic, flouting all Covid-19 norms. No one present in the party including the MLA can be seen with a mask.

The shocking visuals of the MLA of the ruling party dancing at a party come at a time when the state of Punjab is reeling under the Covid-19 crisis.

Mismanagement in Punjab

On Sunday morning we carried the news of six critical patients succumbing to Covid-19 in Punjab’s Amritsar due to lack of oxygen supply at a hospital. The utter mismanagement in Punjab also revealed how over 250 ventilators sent by the central government were gathering dust in the fag end of March in the Punjab state government’s warehouse amidst the second wave.

The state of Punjab recorded its highest ever single-day jump in new coronavirus cases with a record 6,762 on Friday, a spike of 23.93 per cent from the previous day.

Also, the number of patients on ventilator and oxygen support is on a rise in the state. As of April 01, 334 Covid-19 patients were on oxygen support. The latest data is not yet available. The shortage of oxygen supply has forced the Punjab government to release an order to state’s iron and steel industries to shut operations and divert oxygen for medical use

PM Cares Fund had allocated Rs 201.58 for the installation of 162 dedicated pressure swing adoption (PSA) medical oxygen general plants in January out of which 2 were to be installed in Punjab. However, the work is still pending.

UP govt places order for 1 crore doses of vaccines from Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech for phase 3 vaccination drive

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Sunday that his government has placed an order for 1 crore doses vaccines just ahead of the Phase 03 vaccination drive which opens for beneficiaries over 18 years of age.

An order of 50 lakh doses each has been placed with both the indigenous vaccine manufacturers in India- Serum Institute of India’s Covishield and Bharat BioTech’s Covaxin.

The Chief Minister also informed through his tweet that a comprehensive action plan is being prepared for the vaccination drive and procurement.

The decision comes after the Union Health Ministry announced opening vaccinations for citizens above 18 years of age in Phase 03 of the largest vaccination drive.

UP the first state to administer over 1 crore doses of vaccine

The state of Uttar Pradesh is the first in India to administer the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to nearly one crore people while the second dose of the vaccine has been given to 6,11,595 people over 62 years of age across the state.

An official statement by the state revealed that over 99,27,150 people, including healthcare and frontline workers and people above the age of 45 years have been inoculated.

According to a government spokesman, “Vaccination of people aged above 60 and those between 45 and 60 is being conducted at a war-footing across the state in private and district hospitals, and medical colleges.”

Apart from UP, some other states have also placed order for the vaccines, and many others have announced that they will vaccinate people in the age group 18-45 for free. Assam govt has ordered 1 crore doses of Covaxin and 1 crore doses of Covishield from Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute of India respectively. Andhra Pradesh has also ordered 4.08 crore doses each of Covaxin and Covishield.

Rajasthan delays plan to inoculate population above 18

Meanwhile, the state of Rajasthan has delayed the plans to vaccinate its population from 18 to 45 years of age. The drive which is supposed to commence from May 1, will begin at a later stage in the state.

The Rajasthan government has expressed its inability to present a new date on vaccination for those above 18 years of age, citing non-availability of the vaccine till May 15.

Also Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot recently wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demanding the Center to bear the expense of free vaccination to be provided to beneficiaries above 18 years of age.

A week after the opposition leaders demand ‘Modi picture on death certificates’, fake news peddlers do the needful

On April 17, Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Nawab Malik had said that PM Modi’s photo should be put on death certificates. During an interview with ANI, Malik had said, “the way PM Modi’s photo is put on vaccination certificates, we demand that PM’s photo should be put on death certificates also.” After his statement, other leaders and so-called intellectuals came forward and made a similar demand.

“Secular” actor Nagma said on Twitter, “As like on every vaccination certificate there is a photo of Modi Same should be on every death certificate of Indian died due to covid.” She also posted an image of a tweet of union minister VK Singh claiming that the former army chief was looking for a hospital bed for his brother. However, that claim was fake. In reality, General VK Singh was trying to help someone else who was looking for a bed. In a single tweet, Nagma managed two self-goals.

Tweet by Nagma

Lavanya Ballal, National co-coordinator for Social media AICC, said, “Every Covid death certificate must have Narendra Modi’s pic, every graveyard, crematorium must have his billboard. This too is his contribution to the nation.”

Tweet by lavanya Ballal

Trinamool Congress’s alleged firebrand Mahua Moitra shared an image of vaccination certificate and said, “If Covid vaccine certificate has Hon’ble PM’s photo, does death certificate of those dying of no oxygen also carry his photo?”

Tweet by Mahua Moitra

The leaf-leaning, Congress-favoring, and Modi-hating meme-makers, trolls and fake news peddlers found a great opportunity in the statements by the leaders and liberals. Some posts started to show up on social media claiming that death certificates now come with PM Modi’s photograph.

When we reverse-searched the image, we found that the photograph was first published by IndiaTimes in a report titled “Will India Have A COVID-19 Vaccine Passport & How Will It Help You Travel Without Quarantining” that was published on March 11. The said photograph is of a man holding his vaccination certificate, and it is not a death certificate as claimed on social media.

India Times report was the source of the image

If one looks carefully, the text ‘Provisional Certificate for COVID-19 Vaccination (1st Dose)’ can be seen just below the govt of India emblem. Below it, it has details of the beneficiary on the left side and the vaccination details on the right side.

We also looked for a sample death certificate that one would get in case of a family member’s demise. Here is the sample death certificate issued by the government. Please note that just like birth certificate, death certificates are also issued by state governments and not the central government. Based on the state, the language of the certificate may vary.

Therefore, it is a wrong claim that death certificates have a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The posts on social media claiming the same are fake.

Video of a doctor claiming empty Nebuliser can replace oxygen cylinder goes viral, doctor apologises after experts slam him for wrong claim

With many grappling for oxygen and other essential medical supplies amid the coronavirus pandemic, multiple “experts” have surfaced on social media to suggest alternate resources for the ones facing scarcity, especially of oxygen. This time a misleading video of one Dr Alok from Faridabad’s Sarvodaya Hospital has gone viral in which he can be seen claiming that an empty nebuliser can improve the level of blood oxygen.

Nebuliser is a machine that converts liquid medicine to mist, which can be inhaled by asthma patients. In the video, Dr Alok had demonstrated how to use a nebulizer machine without putting any medicine in it. He had claimed that the machine draws oxygen from the atmosphere, which can be inhaled.

However, taking quick note of the viral video, Sarvodaya Healthcare issued a clarification denying any endorsement of the claims made in the video.

The tweet read, “The video has not been backed by any evidence or scientific study, does not reflect any medical advice, and is in no way endorsed by Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad. Please do not follow any such practice without consulting your medical practitioner. It could lead to worsening of the disease.”

Dr Alok in his video claimed that he was heartbroken seeing so many people struggling to get hold of oxygen and spending hefty amounts and hence was releasing the video to use nebulizer as a substitute to oxygen cylinders. “I am showing you a trick. You can do this. This is the nebulizer. This is the machine where we put the medicine. But don’t use any medicine. Use the empty nebulizer. Sit down. Put it on your nose and switch on the machine. There is enough oxygen in the environment. Don’t rush after oxygen cylinders. Don’t put your life at stake. Stay at home. Thank you,” Dr Alok was seen saying while demonstrating the technique.

Nebulizers are machines to inhale medication but no medicine is needed here, the video said. These machines are usually prescribed to patients suffering from Asthma.

The video was shared by many Twitter users with disclaimers of “shared as received.”

Doctors and experts warn against such baseless techniques

Dr Arvinder Singh Soin, chairman of the Institute of Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, Medanta, dismissed Dr Alok’s claim and remarked, “The video demonstrating a purported technique that can substitute a nebulizer machine for an oxygen cylinder to improve blood oxygen levels is totally baseless. It should be discredited.”

Dr Dhiren Gupta, co-director of Pediatric Critical Care Unit at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said, “This is completely a sham. He should give up his medical degree.”

“A nebuliser provides nebules of the medicine and pushes them a bit. It cannot fulfill the oxygen requirement. In fact, at times, you need to connect it to oxygen,” said Dr Aviral Vatsa of National Health Service, Scotland.

Doctor apologized for the misleading video

After receiving a backlash from the medical fraternity, Dr Alok released another video clarifying that his video has gone wrong and is sending out the wrong message.

“Hi, I am Dr Alok. A video of me went viral yesterday which says nebuliser is an alternative to an oxygen cylinder. This is not true. I am repeating myself this is not true. Probably I wanted to say something else and couldn’t frame it properly. With folded hands, I am telling you nebuliser is not an alternative to an oxygen cylinder. I wanted to give some other message. Take care. Thank you,” he said in his video uploaded on social media.

However, it is not clear what he means by he wanted to say something else. He had clearly said that empty nebulizer can be used to get oxygen in the previous video.

While Delhi continues to suffer an oxygen crisis, Arvind Kejriwal ads appear on India Today 25 times in 10 hours

A user on Twitter is regularly posting images every time Arvind Kejriwal appears on India Today. The person with the username @mithelesh has been posting pictures of this television screen every time the Delhi Chief Minister appears on India Today in an ad.

Arvind Kejriwal has come under severe criticism for spending crores of money on advertisements but not enough to secure medical oxygen supply to hospitals. The user shares the pictures while mentioning the time when it was captured.

The first was captured at 9.56 a.m. and was shared on social media much later. The next came at 10.27 a.m. The third was captured at 10.48 a.m. and subsequently, images were captured at 11.36 a.m., 12.27 p.m., 12.50 p.m. and 1.30 p.m.

In the afternoon, the most recent was captured at 3.47 p.m. There are several which were captured between 1.30 p.m. and 3.47 p.m. In total, the tally at present stands at 15 ads in 6 hours.

He continued to track the appearance of the ad on India Today, and it kept appearing with the same frequency. The ad appeared at 4:22 PM, 4:53 PM, 4:58 PM, 5:22 PM, 5:31 PM, 5:55 PM, 6:21 PM, 6:51 PM, 7:24 PM and 7:31 PM. It means, the ad appeared with the interval of 5-15 minutes on one channel only.

Another user noted that in a span of five minutes, Kejriwal ads had featured across five different news channels.

The Delhi Government has failed to set up a mechanism to collect oxygen from suppliers and deliver it to hospitals. It was rebuked in the Delhi High Court on Saturday where it was said that they believe their work is completed once oxygen is allotted and do not take any steps to collect the allocated oxygen.

The AAP Government in Delhi and Arvind Kejriwal also received criticism from all quarters for spending an exorbitant amount of money on advertisements instead of securing the supply of medical oxygen. On Saturday, he appealed to the Chief Ministers of other states to provide them with oxygen and was criticised for it by people on social media.

The user on social media in question appears to be making the point that while Delhi continues to suffer from an oxygen crisis, ads featuring Arvind Kejriwal continue to appear on India Today.

Patna HC directs setting up dedicated email ID to receive complaints of private hospitals regarding oxygen supply, slams state govt for inaction

On Friday (April 23), the Patna High Court ordered setting up a dedicated ‘Covid complaint email’ in the court for addressing grievances of private Coronavirus hospitals in receiving the supply of oxygen. The order came in the backdrop of a suo motu case filed before the court regarding ‘poor healthcare facilities’ in Bihar amidst rising Coronavirus cases.

The matter was heard by a Division Bench of the Patna High Court, comprising of Justice SC Singh and Justice Mohit Kumar Shah. In its order, the Court noted, “Refusal of admission of COVID patients by any hospital because of (the) absence of oxygen is a serious matter and is likely to be fatal.” As such, the Court directed that if private Covid hospitals are denied oxygen supply due to State administration, then, they will have the liberty to approach the Court through the dedicated email ID.

The email, registered with the Registrar of the Patna High Court, goes as [email protected]. The Court said that the failure of the State to provide healthcare to its citizens is a violation of Article 21 (Protection of life and personal liberty) of the Indian Constitution. The Court had earlier asked the Bihar government to submit its ‘comprehensive action plan’ in dealing with the Coronavirus outbreak in the State.

On Friday, the Patna High Court also noted that several hospitals and dedicated Coronavirus treatment facilities were not equipped with adequate oxygen supplies, despite the claims of the Bihar government. The Court has asked the Union government to send a technical team by Tuesday (April 27) to assess the deficiencies in the healthcare system, suggest corrective measures and submit the report to the Court. It was also specified that such a team must be led by an officer, not below the rank of Deputy Director-General of Health Services.

Patna High Court pulls up Bihar government for its failure to receive full quota of medical oxygen

The Court was informed that the Centre had allocated a daily quota of 194MT of medical oxygen for the State of Bihar. The government said that around 72 MT oxygen was received on April 22 while only 60 MT was received on April 23.

The Division Bench noted, “Be that as it may, the figures clearly go to suggest that there is still deficiency in supply of medical oxygen for treating COVID-19 patients in the State of Bihar for the reason that admittedly the State Government has not so far received the full quota of oxygen allocated per day by the Central Government and in fact it has received less than half of the allocated quota to the State.”

It further added, “There is a requirement of continuous supply of oxygen for treatment of COVID patients and failure to procure the amount allocated by the Government of India is a serious lapse having perilous consequences of grave nature hugely affecting the healthcare system to meet the challenge.” As such, the Court has asked the Health Department of Bihar to submit a report by Monday (April 26) highlighting the circumstances that led to its failure in receiving the full quota of medical oxygen.

‘Liberals’ normalise wishing death on Hindus, hope for ‘Sanghis’ to suffer painful death and ‘eternal pain’ amidst Covid-19 crisis

India is suffering a severe outbreak of the novel Coronavirus. As Covid-19 cases surge across the country, the healthcare across multiple states are getting stretched. But even under such a scenario, unparalleled hate continues to be perpetuated unabated. And the hate is overwhelmingly coming from those who claim to have a monopoly on love and tolerance.

Liberals, only a few days ago, were seriously debating whether they should help Sanghis in distress amidst this crisis. They were discussing, in all seriousness, whether they should help Sanghis combat Covid-19. Some of the comments and rhetoric that is currently circulating among liberal circles give one the impression that the debate has been settled. And the debate has not been settled in a manner that portrays liberals in good light.

Some of them are arguing that wishing death upon those who disagree with their brand of politics is perfectly ethical. Ironically, they are calling Sanghis “ultrabigoted” even as they wish death upon them.

Some say even death is not enough, Sanghis must experience “eternal pain” and “suffering”.

One of them has gotten very close to what can considered an attempt to incite unrest. “We should be angry as f*ck. We should be storming at these f*ckers with all our rage. Our anger should make them tremble in fear,” the person says.

Then there are those who are wondering if Narendra Modi will still be voted to power if every family experiences a Covid-19 death.

Death is being wished upon Prime Minister Modi himself as well.

The hatred towards Hindus is very prominent as well. The most shocking aspect is how casually such morbid comments are being posted on social media. Not just death but “slow painful death” is also being wished upon those who voted for Narendra Modi. Liberals say that Hindus deserve to burn because of their voting preferences.

Such hate is not a recent development. Only recently, an entire campaign was launched by liberals online to usurp the money that was donated by Hindus for the construction of the Bhavya Ram Mandir at Ayodhya. They wanted the government to forcefully usurp the money and use it to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is another matter that the government is not suffering a cash crunch currently and there were much more sensible measures that could be adopted to secure wealth that does not involve robbing private donations.

Another crowdfunding could have been organised if the situation was so dire but liberals wanted to skip all such steps and proceed directly to rob the Temple trust of their wealth. And now we have liberals normalising wishing death upon Hindus.

‘Neutral’ The Quint publishes video promoting Congress’ work during Covid ‘coincidentally’ just day before Rahul Gandhi wants his party to help in pandemic

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday took to social media to urge fellow Congress workers to come forward and help amid the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

Rahul Gandhi, without mentioning the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, claimed that the country needs responsible citizens and urged his Congress colleagues to help ‘ease the pain of countrymen’. He claimed this is the ‘Dharma’ of Congress family.

Incidentally, this sermon from Wayanad Congress MP came just a day after ‘neutral platform’ The Quint published an elaborate video promoting Indian Youth Congress.

In a recent report titled “How IYC’s Srinivas BV And Team Help Distressed COVID-19 Patients”, The Quint tried to portray as if no one other than Srinivas’ team is working on the ground level to provide support to Covid patients.

Screengrab from The Quint’s report

In the video report, The Quint displayed how a 10-member team of Srinivas has been working day and night to provide beds, oxygen, medicines and other essentials for the Covid-19 patients across the country. Srinivas told The Quint team that they are using state government dashboards to check the availability of beds and then coordinate with the patients to provide them with the information accordingly.

It has to be noted that The Quint showed Delhi Government’s dashboard in the video that Srinivas was using. It is the same dashboard that was criticised for showing wrong information about bed availability a few days back.

Politics or no politics?

Though Srinivas excused himself from answering anything political in his interview and claimed he just wanted to help rather than doing politics amid a pandemic, the situation is different on social media platform.

Bunty Shelke, National Secretary of Youth Congress, quoted The Quint’s video and mocked the government of India over Covid-19 management. He compared Srinivas’s 10-person team with the central government’s team to manage the Covid-19 situation and said, “Narendra Modi learn from him and congress as well how to manage the crisis.”

Shelke forgot to mention how badly Congress-ruled states like Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Maharashtra (as part of the MVA government) are doing in terms of Covid-19 management. While the Health Minister of Rajasthan was busy posting photograph with Salman Khan’s bodyguard Shera, Maharashtra has been on the top of adding new Covid-19 cases in the country.

Others echoed Bunty and mocked the central government and RSS.

The Quint ignored the good work of BJYM, ABVP, Seva Bharati and many other bodies

Several organisations, including RSS and Seva Bharti, have come forward to provide help to those in need. Seva Bharti’s Delhi branch has a dedicated helpline to provide doctor counselling, food assistance, blood plasma and more. They are providing free food to Covid positive and quarantined families.

Volunteers of Seva Bharti have been regularly visiting Majnu Ka Tila to provide assistance to the Hindu refugees from Pakistan.

RSS and Bajrang Dal volunteers perform the last rites of the Covid patients, especially when either rest of the family is Covid positive or the family is afraid of contracting the disease.

RSS recently started a 50-bed isolation centre in Gorakhpur.

Several BJP leaders, including Kapil Mishra, Tajinder Bagga, Tejasvi Surya and several others, are working day and night to provide every possible support to Covid patients.

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha’s National President Tejasvi Surya has been actively coordinating with the BJYM members across the country to provide all possible support to Covid patients and their families.

The Quint: Not-so-neutral publication

This is not the first time The Quint has bluntly ignored the other side of their political ideology and published totally biased reports. In March 2021, the Quint published a heavily edited audio clip of ABVP leader Shivangi Kharwal to prove her wrong. In the same month, the publication graduated from humanising terrorists to dehumanising the parents of Nikita Tomar just because the killer is a Muslim man.

The parent company of The Quint, Quintillion Media Pvt. Ltd., signed a joint venture agreement with New York based Bloomberg LP in April 2016 to launch a co-branded digital product – BloombergQuint. Bloomberg LP is owned by Michael Bloomberg, who was one of the candidates contesting to become the nominee from the Democrat party. The Quint had recently incited its readers to replicate US-like riots in India. Recently, Rahul Gandhi had sought for American intervention in Indian internal affairs at a time when Democrats are in control of the US House of Representatives, Senate as well as the White House.
