According to the police sources, the sarpanch had gone to work in his orchard when he was attacked by the terrorists. The area has been cordoned off soon after the shooting. National Conference leader Omar Abdullah took to Twitter to condemn the “terror attack on a grassroots political worker”.

OpIndia tried to contact the Anantnag police but it could not elicit a response from them.

It is pertinent to note that the encounter of a Kashmiri Pandit sarpanch happened hours after the security forces gunned down 4 terrorists in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. While the encounter had concluded, combing operation by the Armed Forces is underway to ensure there are no terrorists left. A cache of arms and ammunition have been retrieved from the slain terrorists.

In the ensuing encounter, 5 terrorists were eliminated by the security forces and incriminating material, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the dead terrorists.

Delhi minorities commission awards ‘activist’ Teesta Setalvad with a lifetime achievement award for her ‘contribution to human rights’

‘Activist’ Teesta Setalvad has been nominated for the lifetime achievement award for her ‘services’ by the Delhi minorities commission which reportedly comes under the AAP led Delhi government. She has been involved in many controversies, the latest being her Shaheen Bagh address to ‘protestors’ regarding what questions to ask SC-appointed interlocutors.

According to a report by Times Now, Zafarul Islam Khan, the chairman of Delhi minority commission, recently declared that they would be awarding Teesta Setalvad the lifetime achievement award for her outstanding contribution to human rights in India. Intriguingly enough, Zafar ul himself was accused of spreading hatred recently comments targeting the Hindu community.

Teesta Setalvad has been a controversial figure and one of the most vocal supporters of Anti-CAA protests across the country. She has been widely criticised for instigating crowds during the protests.

Teesta Setalvad tutored Shaheen Bagh ‘protestors’ what questions to ask SC-appointed interlocutors

In February, the controversial ‘activist’ who has been earlier accused of embezzling 2002 riot victims’ money, could be seen tutoring Shaheen Bagh ‘protestors’ on what questions to ask the Supreme Court-appointed interlocutors. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya had shared a video on Twitter wherein ‘activist’ Teesta Setalvad appeared to be tutoring Shaheen Bagh ‘protestors’ on what questions to ask the interlocutors.

In the 2-minutes long video, a lady can be heard reading out a list of questions the women could ask the interlocutors appointed by the Supreme Court to mediate and convince the Shaheen Bagh protestors to relocate to an alternative place. Teesta Setalvad could be spotted right behind her overseeing the tutoring.

Setalvad’s controversial history

Teesta Setalvad’s troubles root from an alleged 1.4 crores funds embezzlement case against her and her husband. She had allegedly collected funds for the 2002 riot victims and instead used it for personal luxury and expenses. The allegations had come to light after one of the residents of the Gulbarg Housing Society filed a complaint against her alleging that she had embezzled funds collected for the 2002 riot victims through her NGOs Sabrang Trust and Citizens for Justice and Peace.

No, Brahmins did not severe tongue of a 16-year-old girl as a sacrifice to protect village from Coronavirus: Here is the truth

On Sunday, a Twitter user (@MigrantKamran) had shared a gory picture of a girl with a severed tongue and claimed that the heinous act was the handiwork of Brahmins of a village in Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh. Kamran alleged that owing to superstitious beliefs that the village would be protected from the wrath of the deadly Wuhan Coronavirus, the Brahmins in the village cut off the tongue of a Class 8 student as religious ‘sacrifice’.

He added that the severed tongue was offered in a nearby Shiv Temple. Aggrieved by the lack of story coverage, he wrote, “But neither mainstream media nor celebrities will outrage on this.” The archived version of the tweet can be accessed here.

This fake-news gained traction rather quickly with several Leftists and Islamists using this to shame the Hindu community.

What is the Truth – Did Brahmins cut off the girl’s tongue as a sacrifice?

According to a report by The Times of India, the 16-year-old girl from Banda district in UP had herself severed her tongue and offered it at Shivji’s Temple as a sacrifice to save the village from Coronavirus. The incident took place in the Bhadaval village of Uttar Pradesh. According to the Additional Superintendent of Police Lal Bharat Kumar Pal, the girl was unconscious when she was rushed to a nearby hospital.

“The girl has now recovered and is at her home”, he was quoted as saying. The Additional SP denied claims of the girl being coerced into cutting off her tongue. He assured of further investigation into the matter if complaints regarding the same are filed. The incident was also covered by Live Hindustan. As such, the claims made by Kamran in his viral tweet is false.

Sandesara scam: Congress leader Ahmed Patel cites ‘Corona’ to evade questioning, ED says ‘we will come home and question’

Congress leader Ahmed Patel has sent a letter to the Enforcement Directorate and has used ‘corona’ as an excuse to evade questioning by the Enforcement Directorate in the over Rs 14,000 crore Sandesara scam. A day before Ahmed Patel was to appear before the ED, Congress leader wrote to ED and has cited the pandemic saying: ‘above 65, please excuse now’. He told ED that as per Covid-19 guidelines he need to stay indoors.

Essentially, the Congress leader uses his age as an excuse to evade questioning. Putting himself in the senior citizen’s bracket whom the pathogen puts at higher risk due to their weaker immune systems he asks the Enforcement Directorate to consider revoking the summon due to be held tomorrow.

The Enforcement Directorate has, however, responded with new dates saying ‘will come home to question’. They have informed Patel that they would go to his residence to question him either this week or next week.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate has confirmed on Monday, that Ahmed Patel’s son – Faisel Patel and his son-in-law – Irfan Siddiqui have confessed that they knew Chetan Sandesara – younger brother of the Sterling Biotech Ltd Director – Nitin Sandesara.

Ahmed Patel’s alleged connection with the Sandesara case

The proof of Congress leader Ahmed Patel’s connection to the Sandesara case had allegedly emerged last year. The sources had said that witnesses in the case named Ahmed Patel, his son Faisal Patel and his son-in-law Irfan Siddique in the investigation by the Enforcement Directorate. The sources have said that Ahmed Patel’s house was named by the witness as the headquarters. They have also, as per sources, said that his son Faisal Patel and son-in-law Irfan Ahmed Siddique received money from Sandesara.

In August last year, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Faisal Patel, son of Ahmed Patel, in the Sterling Biotech money laundering case. Faisal Patel is being probed by the ED for his links with the Sandesara brothers, the owners of the pharmaceutical company, who are accused in a ₹5,000 crore fraud case.

Congress leader has used health issues as an excuse earlier to evade questioning

Nevertheless, making excuses like this to evade summons has emerged as a regular pattern with the Congress leader. Last year too, when Ahmed Patel was summoned for questioning by the Income Tax Department in connection with the investigation into the case of hawala and cash transactions worth Rs 400 crore reaching the Congress party office, the senior Congress leader did not appear for questioning claiming that he was unwell. He had then complained about breathing distress and got himself admitted to the Metro Hospital in Faridabad, Haryana.

As per reports, Patel was summoned as the treasurer of the All India Congress Committee.

Ahmed Patel involved in various other controversies

Ahmed Patel is mired in controversies and is being investigated in connection with other irregularities as well. In April 2019, after raids at the locations of the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s OSD, it was reported that Rs. 20 crore had been transferred to the head office of a major political party located at Tughlaq Road in Delhi, which was moved through a senior party functionary. Although the department didn’t name the political party and the functionary, it was reported that the residence of SM Moin in Delhi, who is a senior functionary of Congress, was raided by the Income Tax department. Ahmed Patel had rushed to the residence of Moin in Delhi when I-T officers were conducting search operations there.

Ahmed Patel’s name had popped up during the investigation of the UPA-era August Westland Scam. One diary recovered from middleman Michel had some notes which reportedly indicate recipients of the bribe paid to secure the deal. There were references to “AP”, “FAM”, “Pol”, “Bur”, “DG Acq”, “AF” etc under the heading “budget expenditure items” in the diary, allegedly a note of people who were paid bribes. After Agusta middleman Christian Micheal was extradited to India, during custody, he made many explosive confessions to ED. In of the confession, he identified the notings in the diary and said that the AP refers to Ahmed Patel.

‘Indians are a beastly people with a beastly religion’: The racism of British ‘hero’ Winston Churchill

A statue of former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill was vandalised by Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters on Sunday. The ‘activists’ spray-painted the word ‘racist on the statue in Westminster. Sympathisers of the wartime British Prime Minister were shocked by the act and they interpreted it as further evidence of the moral depravity of the protesters.

While those in the West would not want to admit it, for obvious reasons, Winston Churchill was a racist of the highest order. He told the Palestine Royal Commission in 1937, “I do not admit… that a great wrong has been done to the Red Indians of America or the black people of Australia… by the fact that a stronger race, a higher-grade race… has come in and taken its place.”

However, the most racist, infamous of the deeds of Winston Churchill concern his actions which directly culminated into the Bengal Famine in the 1940s. His actions, which involved exporting rice out of India even as Bengal was struggling with famine, directly contributed to the death of an estimated 3 million people.

The United Kingdom also adopted a ‘denial policy’ in India which involved confiscating great quantities of rice and thousands of boats so as to prevent the Japanese from having adequate resources should they invade India in the future. He was warned repeatedly that continuing to export rice out of India could result in food shortages in the country, however, Britain continued exporting rice out of India to elsewhere in the world to sustain its war efforts.

When the Indian Viceroy requested for 1 million tonnes of emergency wheat supply in 1942-43 on account of the famine, Winston Churchill blamed the famine on the fertility rates of the Indians. He said, “I hate Indians. They are a beastly people with a beastly religion. The famine was their own fault for breeding like rabbits.”

Shashi Tharoor, who for reasons unknown to us, is the only Congress leader allowed to speak his mind, has critiqued the British hero in the harshest of words. At an event for the launch of his book, Tharoor said of Winston Churchill, “This is the man who the British insist on hailing as some apostle of freedom and democracy. When to my mind he is really one of the more evil rulers of the 20th century only fit to stand in the company of the likes of Hitler, Mao and Stalin”.

“Not only did the British pursue its own policy of not helping the victims of this famine which was created by their policies. Churchill persisted in exporting grain to Europe, not to feed actual ‘Sturdy Tommies’, to use his phrase, but add to the buffer stocks that were being piled up in the event of a future invasion of Greece and Yugoslavia”.

“Ships laden with wheat were coming in from Australia docking in Calcutta and were instructed by Churchill not to disembark their cargo but sail on to Europe,” he added. “And when conscience-stricken British officials wrote to the Prime Minister in London pointing out that his policies were causing needless loss of life all he could do was write peevishly in the margin of the report, ‘Why hasn’t Gandhi died yet?'”

As a consequence of the actions of Winston Churchill, millions were starved to death in India during the Bengal famine and the resultant spread of diseases such as malaria and cholera. There was great social disruption which changed the landscape of Bengal completely. Thus, considering all of this and his statements, it is an indisputable fact that Winston Churchill was indeed a racist and claiming that he wasn’t is sheer denial.

A contemporary source cited in Historian Sugata Bose’s paper on the matter described Bengal in those days in the following words: “Bengal is a vast cremation ground, a meeting place for ghosts and evil spirits, a land so overrun by dogs, jackals and vultures that it makes one wonder whether the Bengalis arc really alive or have become ghosts from some distant epoch. And yet in the imaginative words of the poet, golden Bengal was once ‘well-watered, fruitful, abundant with crops.'”

The death toll was so high that the disposal of the corpses became a matter of grave concern. Sanitation plummeted and people had no clothes to wear either. Women committed suicide because they had no clothes to protect their dignity. Some came out of their rooms only when it was their turn to wear a single piece of clothing that was to be shared by all the women in a family.

It was one of the darkest phases of the History of Bengal. And this dark phase was fuelled by the evil policies of Winston Churchill that were a consequence of the hatred he bore towards Indians. Therefore, to claim that he was not racist just because he opposed Adolf Hitler is to remain in denial of the obvious. An opposition towards Nazi Germany is not a sufficient condition to declare someone a hero. Stalin killed million as well and yet, no sensible person denies that he was a genocidal maniac.

West Bengal: Hundreds of TMC workers clash with BJP workers, heckle BJP leader Sabyasachi Dutta

West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sabyasachi Dutta was heckled, as hundred of TMC goons clashed with BJP workers in West Bengal’s Bidhannagar on Monday (8 June).

Dutta, who was a TMC mayor previously, alleged that while he was on his way to meet an injured party worker in Bidhannagar, he was stopped by TMC workers who hurled abuses at him. After he tried to move ahead, he was assaulted and his security personal were also injured in the attack. The BJP leader’s vehicle was also reportedly ransacked by the enraged TMC goons.

“When I came to see one of my party workers, Trinamool supporters led by Nitai Dutta and Krishnapada Dutta attacked me. They vandalised my car as well. I have lodged a written complaint with the Lake Town police station already,” Sabyasachi said.

Sabyasachi confirmed that Nitai Dutta is Trinamool Congress worker and an associate of State fire and Emergency Services Minister Suhit Bose.

In the video of the incident, few police officers can be seen standing there as mere onlookers as hundreds of TMC workers clash with BJP supporters in broad daylight.

According to reports, the BJP leader escaped the attack with minor injuries while one of his security personnel has been hospitalised. However, TMC has denied any involvement in this matter. An investigation has been initiated into the matter.

Last October Sabyasachi Dutta joined BJP in the presence of BJP national President Amit Shah in Kolkata. Dutta was earlier with the Trinamool Congress.

In July last year, Trinamool Congress (TMC) had stripped off Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Sabyasachi Dutta of his powers on the charge of making anti-party statements.

Senior TMC leader Firhad Hakim had once referred to Sabyasachi Dutta as ‘Mir Jafar’

Senior TMC leader and West Bengal minister Firhad Hakim had referred to the veteran leader Sabyasachi Dutta as ‘Mir Jafar’- a synonym for traitor and said, “It would be good if he leaves the party.”

Mamata Banerjee too had reacted strongly at all the TMC leaders and workers who had crossed over to the BJP. Mamata had called all the defectors “greedy and corrupt” and claimed that BJP was “collecting garbage”. TMC supremo also said she would be replacing the “traitors” with “dedicated members” and asked those “undecided about joining the BJP” to leave her party at the earliest.

Delhi LG overturns Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s diktat, says Delhi hospitals open to all patients

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, has invalidated the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s order that hospitals in the city would only treat Delhi residents till the rising COVID-19 cases are contained.

Baijal, the Chairman of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), instructed departments and officials of NCT of Delhi to ensure that no patient is denied treatment on the grounds of his/her domicile so that people who approach Delhi hospitals seeking treatment from outside the national capital are not turned away. The move is set to bring relief to patients and their families from outside Delhi who are seeking treatment during the coronavirus pandemic.

However, on Monday, Delhi LG directed that the Delhi government authorities cannot deny treatment to patients on grounds that they are not residents of Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal announces “reservation” of city hospitals for Delhi residents

The decision to allow outsiders to avail the services of hospitals in Delhi came a day after Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, citing the increasing number of caseloads in the city, passed a diktat ordering all the private and state hospitals to treat only Delhi residents till the COVID-19 cases are brought under control.

Informing about the first-of-its-kind of ‘exclusive reservation’ of hospitals in the city for Delhi residents, the Aam Aadmi Party chief said there were several Central government hospitals in the city that would continue to treat all patients.

“For today, we have decided that the 10,000 beds under the Delhi government will be kept for residents. The beds under the Central government can be used by all. Private hospitals covering special treatment will be opened to all,” the Chief Minister said. Then borders, he added, will be open from tomorrow.

The Delhi chief minister said that the decision to reserve hospitals for Delhi residents was taken based on the advice of a special five-member committee of doctors. Kejriwal defended his decision saying that the committee estimates that Delhi will require 15,000 beds by the end of June and if city hospitals are kept open to people from other states, 9,000 beds will be occupied in a matter of just 3 days.

DMK files FIR against popular Tamil YouTuber Maridhas for calling M Karunanidhi as the ‘father of corruption’

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) had reportedly filed a First Information Report (FIR) against popular Tamil vlogger Maridhas, for a 30-minute-long Youtube video in his channel ‘Maridhas Answers’ wherein he had called the late DMK supremo M Karunanidhi as the ‘father of corruption.’

Maridhas had reiterated that the points raised in his video were verified by him and his team. He even announced that he would delete the video if DMK supporters could prove that he was spreading fake news or casting aspersions about the former leader. At the very onset, Maridhas explained how a vicious campaign was underway to absolve M Karunanndihi of his corrupt practices by projecting him as an able administrator and a leader who dedicated his life for the upliftment of Tamilians, Dravidians, and minorities.

Maridhas claimed that the success of the former DMK patriarch was due to manipulative skills and a shrewd divide and rude policy. Hailing him as the paragon of corruption, the Tamil blogger warned youngsters to not get swayed by fake propaganda and make efforts to discover the truth.

The Contentious video

In the Youtube video, Maridhas drew analogies between the former US President George W. Bush and the former DMK supremo. He argued that while both promoted their family members in politics but Karunanidhi had limited powers as the head of a State in the Union of India. Maridhas alleged that in 19 years of DMK’s rule, the party patriarch had generated wealth to the tune of ₹25,000 crores. He said that even Bush and Barrack Obama’s net worth is around 40 crores.

The Tamil vlogger talked about the inquiry commission led by Ranjith Singh Sarakaria, former Supreme Court judge, against M Karunanidhi during the Emergency. He revealed how Sarakaria was so shocked at the blatant misuse of government funds that he labelled the practice as a ‘scientific corruption.’ The inquiry commission was constituted during the time of Indira Gandhi after the Tamil Nadu government was dismissed by the Union Government.

In the video, Maridhas highlighted multiple instances of corruption against the DMK Patriarch and his family that had both been probed and proved by various law enforcement agencies. He talked about how ₹10 crores (current worth of ₹10,000 crores) were allotted to clean the Cooum river during the rule of CN Annadurai. When questioned by the opposition Congress, Karunanidhi, who was the then PWD Minister claimed that the money was spent for the safety of workers as they were panicked by the alleged presence of ‘crocodiles’ in the river.

Concluding that Karunanidhi was indeed the ‘Father of Corruption’, Maridhas claimed that during the probe of the Sarkaria Commission, it was found that 30,000 bags of sugar (current worth of ₹50,000 crores) were missing from the government warehouse. Reportedly, the DMK patriarch came up with a bizarre explanation. Karunanidhi said that while ants ate the sugar another set of white rats ate the gunny bags as well.

The video by Maridhas on Karunanidhi

Maridhas stands by his video

Speaking to Organiser, Maridhas said that M Karunanidhi, unlike a responsible leader, denied both equal opportunity and recognition to people. He alleged that the DMK patriarch had enmassed massive wealth during his 19-year-long tenure.
“All these years, how could Karunanidhi amass so much wealth by ruling a small state like Tamil Nadu? People should realise this and this is solely my aim”, he was quoted as saying.

The Youtuber who has been the subject of legal intimidation in the past also revealed that he was threatened by the DMK supporters, following the announcement of his video about M Karunanidhi. Maridhas asked, “Complaints have been filed against me but can they explain what was factually wrong in what I said? Only people with sense will think. How can we expect such things from slaves? I will take teach a good lesson to DMK and DK for betraying Hindus”

FIR against Maridhas for questioning Tablighi Jamaat

In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, it was found that the Tablighi Jamaat event held at Nizamuddin in Delhi had been responsible for the sudden spike in the transmission of the deadly virus in India in March. The State of Tamil Nadu was badly affected with 637 patients out of 690 belonging to Tablighi Jamaat. He warned of the different types of individuals who end up providing cover fire for terrorism, intentionally or unintentionally, by conflating terrorism with Islam or invoking Islamophobia to thwart genuine inquiry into the nature of terrorism.

Seeing this as a provocation, an FIR was filed against Maridhass in Melapalayam, Tirunelveli District under sections 292-A (printing of grossly indecent or scurrilous matter or matter intended to blackmail, 295-A (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings or any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), and 505(2) (Statements creating or promoting enmity, hatred or ill-will between classes) and provisions under Section 67 B of Information Technology Act.

Shop owners lock horns with mall owners in Uttar Pradesh. Read why shops remain shut despite malls opening-up

As unlock 2.0 rolls in, malls, restaurants and places of worship open from today. However, despite malls re-opening, shops owners in various malls in Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow have decided to keep their shops inside the malls shut. All traders have reportedly agreed to this at the trader’s board- Adarsh Vyapar Mandal meeting here on June 7 (Sunday).

Sanjay Gupta, the president of the Adarsh Vyapar Mandal, Uttar Pradesh, has enumerated a list of demands to the mall owners and said that if the demands are not met and the matter not resolved, the process may continue in the coming days as well.

UP Adarsh Vyapar Mandal demands rent waiver

Speaking to OpIndia, Sanjay Gupta of Adarsh Vyapar Mandal said that the traders’ body has demanded that the rent and the common are maintenance fee for the lockdown period be waived for the shop owners. Secondly, a subsidy on both rent and maintainance for atleast 12 months should be provided to the shop owners who have been facing the wrath of the Covid-19 lockdown.

“The shopping mall owners did not listen to the demands of the shopkeepers, so the shopkeepers have been forced to take this decision”, said Gupta.

Sanjay Gupta has said that the high rentals pose a major challenge in front of the shop owners who, now in the current situation will have to reinvent themselves to tide over the challenge.

Shops in malls like Saharaganj, Phoenix, Fun, City Mall were kept closed by traders

Gupta informed that on the first day of the unlock 2.0, shops of malls like Saharaganj, Phoenix, Fun, City Mall, One Awadh Mall, Singapore Mall were kept closed by traders. Besides Lucknow, shopping malls in other districts of Gorakhpur, Allahabad, Agra, Bareilly, Kanpur and Noida also remained closed on May 8.

Malls in Uttar Pradesh open with shops remaining shut

Uttar Pradesh shop owners demand owners of malls waive off the rent

The state president of the traders association, Sanjay Gupta said that along with the exorbitant rentals, the shop owners have to pay a hefty amount as the maintenance, which he said comes as an added strain at a time like this. One shop owner named Ashish said that mall owners consider the super built area to be 50 per cent of carpet area while calculating the rent. For example, if the carpet area of a given shop is 1000 sq feet, then the considered super built is 50 per cent of 1000 sq feet, which is 500 sq feet. So the shop owners will eventually have to pay rent calculated on 1500 sq feet.

The shop owners said that in case they opt to leave the shop then the money they have spent on furniture and fixture or the interiors of the shop will all get wasted. And in case they continue at the same rent then they would continue to incur losses. Therefore, they have demanded the landlords to waive off the rent for now and recalibrate for the future.

On being asked how the shopkeepers would cope with the losses they would incur if they continued to keep the shops closed, Sanjay Gupta replied that if the demands are not considered the shop owners would anyways continue to make losses, so what would be the point of opening the shops anyways.

Meanwhile, the trader’s board- Adarsh Vyapar Mandal has given a memorandum to the District Magistrate of lucknow in this regard.

Pakistani state-broadcaster PTV shows Jammu and Kashmir as a part of India, Pakistanis outrage

Pakistan’s state broadcaster PTV recently aired a map of Pakistan with Indian union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh portrayed as parts of India.

In a children’s show, the PTV channel depicted Jammu and Kashmir as a legitimate part of India while discussing the density and spread of population across Pakistan.

The portrayal of Kashmir as a part of India by a Pakistani state channel drew criticism from the Pakistani users who took to Twitter to share the relevant section of the show that displayed Jammu and Kashmir under the jurisdiction of India and trolled the Imran Khan government for the same.

PTV apologises

Taking cognisance of the event, PTV issued a statement saying that it has taken “strict notice on the human lapse resulting in the airing of incorrect image of Pakistan map”. The Managing Director of the Pakistani state channel said that the organisation has zero-tolerance for such ‘negligence’ and assured that strict action will be taken against those responsible.

PTV had earlier put PM Imran Khan in ‘Begging’ instead of Beijing

Earlier, PTV had made another such blunder when it referred to Pakistan PM Imran Khan’s Beijing visit as “Begging” visit. During the live broadcast of Imran Khan’s speech at the Central Party School of the ruling Communist Party of China, the channel mentioned the English word ‘Begging’ instead of ‘Beijing’ on the screen. Incidentally, Imran Khan was on an official trip to Beijing to secure financial aid from China for his cash-strapped country.

India reasserts its claims on PoK and Gilgit-Baltistan

India had recently intensified its claims on Pakistan occupied Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan. Last month, the Indian Meteorological Department. The IMD forecasted weather conditions in towns such as Muzaffarabad, Skardu, Nilam regions located in Gilgit-Baltistan. This is the first time when IMD has started predicting the weather for these areas under the north-west subdivision.

India had registered a strong protest against Pakistan’s Supreme Court’s order on the ‘Gilgit-Baltistan’ area which is under illegal occupation of Pakistan. Prior to that, the Supreme court of Pakistan had permitted elections in the regions of Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that it was clearly conveyed that the entire Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, including the areas of Gilgit and Baltistan, are an integral part of India by virtue of its fully legal and irrevocable accession. The MEA stated, “Govt of Pakistan or its judiciary has no locus standi on territories illegally and forcibly occupied by it. India completely rejects such actions and continued attempts to bring material changes in Pakistan occupied areas of the Indian territory of Jammu & Kashmir.” The MEA further stated that Pakistan should immediately vacate the parts of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
